Asking some writers/artists I follow:

Is there anything in your fic/comic that you as the author know about, but won't end up in the actual story?

This is a great question! I'm gonna try to answer it without spoilers.

Though ERICA is focused on Raph having Hanahaki, I have been thinking about how the others would deal with it, and what might cause it.

For Leo, it could come from a number of things, just because I imagine that he would bury many of his stronger feelings for the sake of "being a good leader." I've already said in the fic that he knows Hanakotoba (Japanese language of flowers), so he would probably figure out what his flowers mean and confront those feelings on his own, before anyone could even realize he had it. That being said, his primary flower would be a blue balloon flower (yes, I'm colour-coding them), because it's the Hamato clan symbol, and ultimately he's suppressing his emotions for the clan.

[I'm also a bit obsessed with symbolism of it in Tale of the Yokai and Owari so I thought it'd be fun to use for one of the turtles]

I haven't given much though to how Donnie would get Hanahaki, but the first thing that comes to mind is disagreeing with Leo or the others (like end of season 2/Don Vizioso type of arguing). When Donnie thinks he's right, he will think so until explicitly proven wrong, so I could see him quite literally dying on a hill of his own pride (or coming really close to it). Hydrangeas would be kinda perfect for this, because they can mean pride and arrogance, but also apology and understanding. Donnie might know deep down that the others are right, but he doesn't always want to admit it.

With Mikey, I can think of two major causes, but I'm gonna focus on the more likely one: suppressing his childishness. Mikey's inner self is canonically a 6 year old kid in a world of imagination, so if something were to happen that would forcefully make him "grow up" (mayhaps Splinter's death), or he takes his brothers' words about being too immature to heart, the disease would come down on him like an anvil. In this case, his flower would be freesia, and I like to think the colours would become duller the longer it lasts (really emphasize the loss of innocence/vibrancy metaphor). I don't think he would try to hide it from his brothers for long though, if they don't discover it on their own. Mikey's probably the most willing out of all of them to actually talk through his issues.

I haven't thought of anything for April, Casey, Karai, etc, but I did decide that Casey has had Hanahaki in the past. There was going to be a scene of him talking to Raph about it, offering advice on how to cope until he's ready to share his feelings, but I cut it when I couldn't fit it in organically (I might still write it separately tho).

I've also been compiling what's essentially a medical doc for how my version of Hanahaki works (causes, diagnosis, treatment, etc). Some of it comes up in the fic, but I might still make a detailed post about it in the future just because I've put a fair amount of research into it.

I know I already explained why I think he could win, but I though it might be better to actually see how he'd win. Y'know if Ark Survival Evolved modding wasn't so infamously painful and difficult I would probably give into my impulsive brain and make my own custom Ark map where it turns some of the progression on its head. Possibly with it being built to work super well with The Hunted mod.

I'm pretty sure if I were to try to look up information on its now I bet that not only would some of the modding information be outdated but it would also get drowned/overwhelmed by results for how to mod in Ark Survival Ascended instead. A damn shame.

As an artist and/or writer, what is one thing you think you do well? What is one thing you would like to improve on?

I'm get to answer for both!

As a writer, I think I'm really good at writing emotion/mood into a scene. I know with some of my old horror scripts my friends would say they had a distinct creepiness to them that they'd refer to as the "ase voice." I can do this with any emotion but my best is definitely tension/fear

Something I definitely need to improve on is editing. No matter how many times I tell myself to edit after the draft, I still find myself doing it as I write (which isn't always bad, but if it's stopping you from writing more then...)

As an artist, I think I do expressions pretty well. I don't know if it's because I like them so much or because I act them out as I'm drawing, but they definitely come easier to me

That being said, anatomy is probably my weakest skill. I've gotten better at it since I started college, but I still have trouble making things look more natural than stiff. I specifically struggle when it comes to the turtles' arms and how they move around their shells oof

I love boo York boo York so much I just rematched it and there is this headcannon cooking in my up in my brain for so long. There is a couple I have.

So like Catty (g1) is queer coded in my mind. Like "search inside" is just almost like her figuring out that she is somewhere on the ase-spectrum. I am kinda projecting a little bit due to like being queer and this song a comfort for me during my figuring out my queer identity. However, I still believe that she is an ase icon, especially when "love is like a storm" came before that.

It's another stupid thing for me to be like Oh that song is also queer coded but to me it also is. Like that whole song just feels like the some queer people might see love around them. Her comparing love to floods, rain, hurricanes and obviously a storm (duh). It feels very queer coded and I'm probably just comming a across as everyone is queer but like come on. The stuff is right there.

Also my like next headcannon has like evidence behind it other then. I'm a trans man with mummy issues so, he is a trans man with mummy issues. Pharaoh is a trans man in my mind. like I have a very VERY similar relationship to my mum, to way his relationship with my mum. Also the "everybody calls me by old name" line actually hits me hard cause honestly same.

OH MY GOD. I just spent the last ~2-3 hours binge-reading Chosen of the Sun from the beginning, and HOLY SHIT. I'm so attached to each and everyone one of them. This is definitely now in my top 3 simblr stories, holy shit. I can't believe I hadn't read it before because fantasy on simblr is literally my niche….. Ugh, I can't wait to see what happens next. I have hope that after Ase's talk with Sarayn that maybe he will see some sense and agree to help Taiyo and Tayuin, but we shall see how everyone else votes....

Sorry for the long rambling ask, but holy shit I am officially OBSESSED. I apologize in advance for all future fangirling that will be happening in the comments and tags of this story. This is literally everything I've ever wanted!! Political intrigue/mystery with the history of the Trials, all the interpersonal relationship drama going on, a side of slow-burn romance... What more could a woman ask for???

(I will say that although I adore literally every character, Ase and Eira's friendship brings me so much joy. My initial favorite was Aster, based on his intro post alone. Tayuin has grown on me a LOT, and Sarayn intrigues me. God, I really just love them all so much.)
