Every muscle in his body was sore from how much he’d tensed. Now only made worse by not being able to move from this position or stretch. Pratt’s chair had tipped over onto its side sometime after his first trial had ended. He’d survived. His brain wasn’t fried. His heart hadn’t given out. He’d been one of the few lucky ones. Only the other few that had passed had already been dragged back to their cages several hours ago. He couldn’t even tell how much time had passed as there was to way to see if it was dark or light outside but the bliss had worn off so time had passed in general.

Arms, torso and legs remained bound even after his tumble. Lights flashed over his face slowly as the slideshow images played through once again. Dirty face had streaks of clearer skin down and sides across his face where tears had paved the way before drying. He hadn’t even been able to wipe them away with his wrists snug against the arms of his chair. 

“Weak...weak...weak...” Pratt had been mumbling to himself quietly with his eyes closed, unable to let himself fall asleep, too scared he’d relive last night in his dreams. There were four or five people strapped to chairs around the room, failed attempts at their first trials. Cold and dead. Pratt didn’t want to look at them. Didn’t want their images burned into his memories more than he already had. 

The door swung open slowly and a familiar voice tore his eyes open. A wolf with a bloody maw flickered onto the projector screen, sending light casting over Jacob Seed standing inside the doorway. 

Pratt startled to struggle frantically against his bonds despite the pain it had started to bring him. Despite how exhausted he felt. “J-Jacob. Jacob please. Let me out. Please don’t leave me in here with them,” Pratt begged, his voice cracking as he tried to hold back a sob. “I’m sorry,” he sniffed, not even knowing what he was apologizing for. Anything. Everything. Anything that would make this stop. “I’ll make the -- make the recording. I’ll record the message. Just let me out.”  @purposeserved​​

During the 1000 years or so they lived as mortals, did your lamb and the bishops eventually consider each other friends?* Playing Knucklebones together makes me guess “yes”, but well

oh yes I loved that ask! I thought about it the whole time i was working on that comic! (And to answer that second half oops) Aym and Baal got whatever Forneus got going on that keeps her alive, and traveled overseas after their explorations of the land of Old Faith. After that contact was lost, and Lamb and Narinder were never really sure what happened to them. They Empty Nest Narinder’s ass in a whole new way asdfghjkl he’d never have to grieve their death really just their departure (if they ever do die idk I’ll leave that open. Makes me sad to think of kitties dying :( skdjsksj)

Friends is a fun word. I think the idea of friends implies choice, and for the Lamb there really was no choice. Complete in-laws situations. The bishops are more than just ex-gods they wish to punish, they’re their catboy’s siblings. And though for a while Narinder tried to cold-shoulder the Bishops, that’s still he family and the cult is only so big. At one point you cross paths on the way to the outhouse yknow. Does the Lamb feel a kinship with these last few people to experience Godhood? Yes. Do they see themself a lot in Shamura and hate them with every fiber of their being? Yes. Are they going to make sure their injury is treated seriously and they get whatever they need? Yes. Are they a little sad when the day comes they ask for death? Sad for Narinder’s sake.

At the very least they were all comfortable together and it brought entertainment. With how long the bishops have been alive, they bring a lot of funny stories to the table.

Heket to the day she dies remains Lamb Hater #1. They may have introduced her to her wife (who IS actually friends with the Lamb. Go figure), but she can hold a grudge like no ones business. It is on sight insult the moment Lamb’s in the room. But also if the knucklebones tournament taking too long, she’s taking the lamb’s bed for herself everyone else get da floor.

leshy has chronic youngest brother disease and it works on the lamb begrudgingly. As long as he stays funny, he can probably get away with a lot. Kallamar is just content to be alive and will push at Lamb’s patience as far as it can go. Shamura sometimes forgets why they should hate the lamb and sees only the thing that makes Narinder happy.

leshy dies once on a mission and it is to the lamb’s delight when the bishops look at them with clenched fists and a blasphemous (to the Old Faith’s beliefs) demand on the tip of their tongues.

this is longer than it needed to be I just love complicated dynamics. I can talk about it for hours. Thanks for the asks!!! <3

I know this discourse has caused some eye rolls in the fandom but I don't remember your take on it, how did you feel about the bits of anxiety about her relationship through rep and lover? Has your opinion changed at any point?

Personally, it caught my attention and I didn't see it as endearing/cute/she's very in love like many people did at the time, but I didn't think it was that big of a problem, just something she had to work on, probably rooted in past betrayals and all that so it made sense she'd feel that way, and I do think it had to do with the way the relationship began (not that serious, casual). And in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it played a big part in the break up, but now I just find it interesting (if it's morally ok to describe someone's break up that way asdfghjkl) that her fear of losing him came true but in a different way, instead of him just leaving one day, he drifted away slowly, forcing her to leave instead.

i've said before that taylor and i view love very differently! she has released many songs (pre-rep and post-rep) about feeling anxious about love, about chasing that out-of-control passionate feeling, about believing love means feeling cRaZy. i don't personally think that's what healthy love looks like for me. i mean, yes, love should be passionate, but it shouldn't make you doubt yourself or feel sad/heavy, it shouldn't make you feel like you have to try try try all the time to keep someone's attention. and she's not the only one who had these beliefs about love, good girls/bad boys, etc. - that's kind of the primary philosophy many young women are taught lmfao. i couldn't relate to that necessarily, but i could tell she was unlearning a lot of those mentalities, so i enjoyed listening to her journey. joe showed her a love she hadn't experienced before, and she was working on her own stuff to maintain a good thing (not just a good relationship, but a healthier mental space) and i thought her depiction of it was very real. that's why i'm such a lover stan.

and that work paid off, imo, because rather than letting this realized fear define her and destroy her, she has been able to keep an open heart and recognize what love looks like when it's healthy or unhealthy. that's what relationships can teach us, even if they don't last.

The very lovely sound of a giggle breaks out of Eddie, and Buck knows it is reluctant, but he’s too proud at distracting Eddie from whatever made him sad to care all that much.

Eddie removes his hand from Buck’s ribs, stopping to pinch at Buck hard enough to make him yelp, and then bats Buck’s hand away from him. “Stop it or I swear I will drop you to the ground.”

“Hmph, maybe I’ll like the ground.” Buck doesn’t really know what he is saying, doesn’t exactly have much control over that right now but he’s content to let anything come spilling out as long as he can keep Eddie sounding amused and cheerful.

“Oh yeah? You’d like the beer and piss covered asphalt, huh?”

Buck glances down and cringes. “No no no, I’m sorry, I take it back, please don’t drop me,” he pleads in an embarrassingly high-pitched voice, pawing at Eddie’s chest like a desperate puppy.

i wanted to take a crack at the relationship chart meme for bg3, but made life harder for myself in the process by doodling everyone asdfghjkl

a bit of info about the relationships under the readmore!

so to start from the top and work around clockwise:

Astarion: her best friend, her partner, and love of her life. his flippant hot-n-cold attitude at the start of their relationship (she failed that first big insight check so she didn't know it was all an act at the start) leaves her feeling bad about herself at times, but once they have their Act 2 heart-to-heart, their relationship only goes from strength to strength. we all know what a supportive and loving tav does for spawn!Astarion, but over the course of their adventure he supports her, too. they make each other stronger.

Rhapsody's self sacrificing need to help everyone, no matter how thin it spreads her, comes dangerously close to breaking her by late Act 2. Astarion talks her back from the ledge, so to speak, and helps her realise why she's doing it (Family Trauma Hour 2, Shitty Father Boogaloo) and the harm it's doing her in turn. it's purely self-interest that motivates him at first, because if she burns out then his protection and best chance at taking on Cazador goes with her, but once he comes to care for her his motives are much kinder.

i have so many post-game thoughts for these two, which includes an eventual cast of good old Reincarnation (which i honest to god rolled for and nearly squawked at the outcome) and the very specific complicated feelings that digs up for them, but if i keep typing i'll be here all day.

Gale: truly one of her best friends. she could sit with him in silence, just reading together, or her playing an instrument while he studies the weave, and be perfectly content. Rhaps is a lore bard, so she really enjoys swapping stories, information, and theories with him. she's also a big fan of his cooking, and enjoys the simple companionship of doing vegetable prep while he cooks and they chat together. she'd go to bat for him against anyone.

Wyll: a dear friend, and inspiration for more than one epic ballad (which makes him proud-blush every time). they swap tales, often together with Karlach, and he's been known to join her in a song and dance when she plays at camp if he's feeling in the spirits. they bond over complicated relationships with their fathers, love of good red wine, and most importantly, their unflinching dedication to helping people in need.

Lae'zel: their relationship is complicated. they both operate on a level the other just does not understand, and chafe against the others attitude to life. they grow to respect each other, but never truly become friends, which is sad because Lae'zel does get to a point where she'd like to extend that offer but has no idea how to voice her growing fondness, and then the adventure is over and she leaves with Voss.

Minsc: definitely a friend, even if they're not especially close. for his part, Minsc is delighted when Rhaps comes up with a little ditty about him ('from top to tail, evildoers do fear - Boo gnaws their eyes, Minsc kicks their rear!').

Jaheira: Rhaps' liked Jaheira immediately, as soon as she clocked the wine was spiked and Jaheira gave her that knowing smile and asked her to drink anyway. Rhaps grew up starved for parental approval and attention, and there's an undeniable current of Momther™ that carries with Jaheira's approval, stories, pick me ups, and pep talks that she latches onto very quickly. Jaheria herself is reluctant to be seen as a mother figure, she has her own kids after all, riiiiiight up until the point the gang come face to face with Rhaps and Aisling's father and she sees first hand how she's treated and how much she wilts in his company. After that it's just kind of defiant instinct, if a parental-flavoured pep talk is what the cub needs to get through the end of days, that's what she'll get, and her old man can go get fucked.

Shadowheart: Shadowheart and Rhapsody have a rocky start - Shart's combative attitude puts Rhaps on the backfoot, and they have a two steps forward one step back slow-crawl to understanding each other. There's a bit of a blow-up between them in the shadowlands that sets them back even more; Shadowheart's constant sneering and too-edgy-for-you remarks regarding Selune and Selunite magic grate on Rhapsody, who is already spread desperately thin by this point and is absolutely baffled Shart can't keep it buttoned for ONE minute when Selune is all that's standing between the people at Last Light -the tieflings she fought tooth n nail to save- and a gruesome death. and the more evidence they see of Shar's cruelty in the shadowlands, the more Rhaps begins to truly understand what Shar is capable of and the thinner she's spread from trying to help people in this bleak situation, the closer she gets to lashing out, until eventually Shadowheart goes one snippy comment too far and Rhaps blows up at her. they have it out, and it's bad, but when they eventually make up afterwards theyre stronger for it, and by the end of Act 3 theyre a lot closer than they ever thought possible.

Halsin: Halsin is a calming presence in Rhapsody's life. she thought turning down his offer was going to make things awkward for them, but it never did. there's a lot to learn from him, and a call to a calmer life and a sense of peace that Rhaps feels most keenly when she's out in nature with him. the druidic life isn't for her, but those moments of peace do wonders for her when she needs it.

Karlach: darling dearest bestest friend, platonic love of her life, sister from another mister, 'would absolutely ride the rollercoaster in the front car with you' bestest best friend forever. Rhapsody adores Karlach, admires and is inspired by her. Rhapsody has had very little interaction with other tieflings, and in comes Karlach full of friendly cheer and good humour and a massive heart, emotional vulnerability and honesty and cheeky smiles, all things Rhaps is drawn to and wants to be. she'd do anything for her, go to any lengths, and I can't even begin to describe how heartbroken this makes her on that dock at the end.

My Final Thoughts on the TGCF Season 2 English Dub

Howard Wang as Xie Lian is fucking perfect. Every single time he spoke it just, I don’t know how to properly put it into words, except it is so well done?? But when XL started basically having a mental breakdown in front of Hua Cheng after Lang Qianqiu found out about the truth of the Gilded Banquet, holy fuck did the emotions just hit me in the feels. The scream and he emotional fatigue after? Xie Lian’s voice is perfection omg

Shoutout to James Cheek for just voicing the gayest character ever (Hua Cheng) and writing the gayest script for TGCF. While I liked his voice in the first season, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of it. It wasn’t until the second season where almost everything improved, and James’s voice for Hua Cheng? *chef’s kiss*. Okay but at least tone down the gayness a bit. And seeing someone who has read the novel and having little easter eggs for the novel readers for them to go insane over is incredible. I’m going to miss his voice in Season 3 since they’re going to have to cast someone else as Hong’er, but that’s ok.

Male and Female Shi Qingxuan: OMG??? Perfect casting. I just know they both put so much effort into them and I am eternally grateful. They just sound like the best of friends (they are). Every single line from them was so fucking iconic, which is accurate to the Wind Master’s character. I love both their voices so much you don’t understand.

Lang Qianqiu: AAHHHHH. My son, my boy, they gave him justice and I am so happy. First read through of TGCF, I only cared for HuaLian, but reading it again has made me appreciate and fall in love with the side characters, with Lang Qianqiu being one of them. I’ll say it did take a bit for me to adjust to it, but he sounds so much like an anime protagonist that I am ok with it. Another perfect casting. I’m going to be so fucking sad that he won’t appear for such a long time, and while he does get brought up occasionally, his last appearance is going to be the finale. I’ll miss you my son 😔

Jun Wu: ASDFGHJKL. He sounds like such a manipulative/toxic ex and a father figure at the same time. wtf. But his voice is so sexy tho. I don’t like it but I do. And I thought his original Chinese voice was hot, and then the English one goes and surprises me. I hate that I love it

Qi Rong: Perfection, glorious, fucking incredible. HIS VA IS PERFECT. Original was slaying so hard, and English? Fucking killing it. He was actually the one I was looking forward to the most, and he 👏 did 👏 not👏 disappoint. I won’t get over the perfect casting. Ever. The crazy and mad laughs? The insults I’ve never heard about but decided to keep in mind? Literally everything. I’m sorry I can’t get over how great his voice is

Feng Xin and Mu Qing (of course together): I am so biased towards Lucien Dodge, so I immediately loved his voice for him. He slaying that tsundere cat boy vibe so well. I will admit that his voice made me like his character more tbh. Ok but Feng Xin’s? Every time I hear it, I always need at least 30 seconds to get used to it. Idk why. I don’t hate it, and I actually love it, but he sounds so much like a dad it’s so funny. I still love him tho.

Pei Ming: 😳. No but that was actually my reaction to his voice. Why is every single god’s voice so hot. Please calm down. I really did not like Pei Ming at first but damn. I can actually understand why every single woman went weak with him.

Ling Wen: While she didn’t get as much dialogue this season, I’ll still count her. I’ve heard some drama relating to her voice actress from a while back but I’m not bringing it up rn. But her English voice is almost exactly the same as the original, just, different languages of course. She has such a unique voice and it’s quite pleasing to hear. She also sounds a bit like Siri but it fits her character

Other major characters that got only a few lines but still slayed their roles (Ming Yi, Pei Xiu, Jian Lan, Yin Yu): Hello?? Can I be patient to hear their voices again? Probably not, but please I need more of them. Ming Yi sounded hot since he took voice lessons from Hua Cheng, Pei Xiu sounded like such a little wet cat (wtf where did this crush on him come from), Jian Lan slayed because she is such an underrated queen, and Yin Yu? I WAS NOT EXPECTING A DEEP VOICE FROM WTF. I will say I do prefer his Chinese VA a little more due to it being more in character with him sounding soft and somewhat tired. But I enjoy his confident and announcing voice. They should keep him for the QuanYin flashbacks.

All in all, perfect cast. I don’t have twitter/X but I see things from the VA’s from time to time. And seeing them interact with the fandom and trying to give more to their characters makes me so happy. I just desperately need for more of the characters to have voices (aka Shi Wudu, Quan Yizhen, Mei Nianqing, Yushi Huang, Male!Ling Wen, White-No-Face). Give me more please.

Lee moods suck. Everybody knows that. Hyunjin, being one of the biggest lees in their group, especially knew that. And it always sucks more when one of the biggest lers is in the next room and it’s a little too tempting to just downright ask for tickles. 

Hyunjin hadn’t opened up to his members about his love for tickling, but it was getting unbearable watching one member wrecking another and having to watch while increasingly blushing. 

Hyunjin was terrified that they would find it weird or worse, actually hate him for it. He knew some people didn’t like to be tickled or the idea of tickling, so this really scared him. He was overthinking things more than usual. 

Meanwhile, in the other room, Lee Know was busy stroking his cat and wondering what Hyunjin was up to. He had noticed Hyunjin’s mood start to go down more recently, and although Minho had a habit of pretending he didn’t care, he was genuinely worried for the younger member. Hyunjin was thinking more, and his usually cheery expression had a sort of sadness to it, like he was hiding something.

 Lino decided that he should find out what was happening before it got worse. I mean, it wouldn’t hurt to try bonding with Hyunjin a little more, right? He made his way over to Hyunjin’s room and knocked 3 times.

Hyunjin jumped. He was debating on whether to tell Minho or provoke him into tickling him, but was NOT expecting the ler to walk to Hyune’s room HIMSELF. He was NOT prepared.

“What are you hiding?” Lino asked.

Talk about straightforward.

“Me? Why would I be hiding anything, hyung?” Hyunjin denied.

“Well, you’re acting suspicious”

“No I’m not”

At this moment Minho seated himself next to Hyunjin on the bed.

“Yes, you are”

“Okay, so what if I have something to hide? Why do you care?”

Minho looked at Hyunjin, feeling betrayed and upset.

“Of course I care, you’ve been sadder than usual, and you have your thinking face on whenever I even look at you”

Minho looked so sad that eventually Hyunjin felt bad and gave in.

“Okay hyung, I’m sorry. I shouldn't have said that you didn’t care, you obviously do. I’m just scared-”

“Scared for what? WHO’S scaring you and WHO do I need to punch cause i swear ill do-”

“NO HYUNG I’m scared I’m going to get judged by YOU!”

There was awkward silence (caw caw caw)

Lee Know cleared his throat. 

“Hyunjin please. I would never judge you for anything. Whether it's something you like or hate, just please don’t hide yourself from us. Please.”

“Well I’m still not telling you”

“Awwww c'mon don’t make me tickle it out of you~”

No. There was absolutely no way this was happening.

Hyunjin got up and immediately bolted out of the room. After an intense and dRaMaTiC chase scene between Hyune and Lino, Minho finally managed to scoop Hyune up into his arms and carry him back to the room despite their height difference. Minho dropped Hyunjin on the bad and sat behind him.

“Arms up” Minho commanded

“WHAT?! No way!” Hyunjin protested

“Hyunjin I swear you better put those arms up or I’ll do it for you”

Hyunjin complied out of fear of being completely helpless, and put his arms up, his back facing Lino. Minho didn’t waste any time and dug his fingers into firm sides. Hyunjin screeched and slammed his arms down to his sides immediately to protect himself.

“AHAHAAA NOHOHO WHY?!”

“Put those arms down one more time and I SWEAR you're going to get it Hyune~"

The ruthless attack on his sides continued as Minho squeezed up and down and Hyunjin squirmed while struggling to keep his arms raised, high pitched laughter ringing throughout the room.

“Plehehehease i cahan’t take it there plehease mohOHOVE?! ” Hyunjin shrieked as Minho pushed him down and straddled Hyune stomach down, scribbling up and down his back and shoulder blades and wiggling his fingers hard in the crevices on his back ribs. Hyunjin let out an ungodly scream before descending into mad cackles.

“HAHAHAHAHA NOHO STOP PLEHEEHEASSEEEEE AHHHHHHHH!!!”

“Do you actually feel uncomfortable?!”

There was…once again awkward silence. (caw caw caw)

“N-no i don’t feel uncomfortable”

“Really?! I thought you hate it when I tickle you?”

There it was, that dreaded word again.

“No, I - I actually like it” Hyunjin turned as red as a tomato at the look of absolute ecstaticness adorning Minho’s face.

“AWWW THAT’S SO CUTE HYUN- wait is this what you’ve been hiding from us?”

“Um…yeah. You don’t think it’s weird?”

“WHAT?! I could NEVER! You’re so cute I wanna wreck the absolute shit out of you”

“Wait what-NAHAHAAAA” 

Minho nibbled lightly at the side of Hyunjin’s neck and the scream that tore out of his throat could have deafened a person.

“Where even is your worst spot?”

When Minho turned Hyunjin around to expose more spots, he noticed the absence of attention on a very good spot indeed. He pinned Hyunjin’s arms above his head with one arm and lifted up Hyune’s shirt with the other. Of course, Hyunjin already knew what was about to happen and he resorted to the one thing that could grant him any mercy. Begging.

“PLEASE HYUNG I CAHAHANT TAKE IT AHHHH” Hyunjin was unable to complete his sentence as Minho took a deep breath and blew a long raspberry on Hyunjin’s stomach, by far his worst spot.

“YAHAHAHAHA-” 

The rest of Hyunjin’s laughter cut out and he bucked and screamed, tears flowing down his neck and the pulsing sensations setting his nerves on fire.

Soon enough Lee Know let up, pushing Hyunjin’s shirt back down and rubbing away all the ghost tickles.

“Are you ok?”

“Yehesss aha I’m fine.”

“I think I’ll tell the others about this, don’t you think?

“Yah! I'll kill you!”

Minho wiggled his fingers at Hyunjin in a teasing way.

“Oh really?”

I watched TBOSAS today (Sunday) and I’m sadly not very well (bad cold or flu), but I wanted to try and make a little post to appreciate the film/give my thoughts.

I saw the first three Hunger Games movies on opening weekend during my teens - the only one I didn’t watch at the cinema was Mockingjay Part 2, because it coincided with my GCSE mocks and some other stuff I had going on. I saw the first one twice at the cinema, once on opening weekend with one friend and then a second time with my then-best friend a few weeks later; I saw CF and MJP1 with my younger sister on opening weekend because it’s one of the few series we both love and so it’s one of the few things we can both enjoy together. My point is that I’m a huge THG fan, have been since I read the first book in late 2011 when I was 13 - I even still have my Mockingjay pin that I bought in March 2012 from Waterstones that I still wear!

Anyway, I read TBOSAS during lockdown, my sister bought the book and let me read it after she did, so this has been one of my most anticipated movies of the year!

I was ill when I watched it and I’m even iller now but I’ll try to remember as much as I can

I LOVED IT

I’m glad they made Coriolanus Snow hot because I felt so conflicted watching him and that’s EXACTLY what was needed for the character, he’s got this beautiful exterior but he is POISON inside

Rachel Zegler was AMAZING by the way, I’m not her biggest fan by any means but I say fuck the haters

Hunter Schafer as Tigris was AMAZING casting, she really needs to shine away from Euphoria because damn she was so good in this film

Just in general casting ATE in this movie; Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman etc

Tigris was spot on: “I wouldn’t sing a note for you” and pointing out that Coryo needed to get Lucy Gray’s trust in order to help her win

Arachne Crane deserved death, idc 🤷‍♀️

NO ARACHNE FUNERAL LIKE THE BOOK?!?

The fact that the tributes were just dumped in a zoo and put on display like animals?!? Compared to six and a half decades later where the tributes are glammed up and treated like royalty, even allowed to train before entering the arena??? I love how starkly different it is

I won’t lie, Lucky Flickerman stole the film whenever he was in the scene 😭😅 absolute scene stealer?!?

Lucky trying to cancel his dinner reservations on night 1 of the games because “this is taking longer than I expected” 💀

Also telling one of the mentors not to puke on the floor after their tribute was killed?!?! Iconic really

You can definitely tell Lucky is an ancestor of Caesar lol

The bow and arrow when Coryo enters the arena?!?! 👀🏹

Coryo killing Bobbin was BRUTAL. He could have stopped after the first hit, that was self defence - but he carried on and kept hitting him. It was definitely a huge moment

I obviously knew Wovey wasn’t going to survive, but god DAMN it 😭 DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE HER SO SWEET AND LIKEABLE?!? She just wanted to go home, and those were her last words before she was killed by the snakes 😭

Coryo really cheated just so Lucy Gray could survive, and it still has me questioning whether he cares for her or if it is just to do with the Plinth prize? 🤔

“What are the Hunger Games for, Mister Snow?” And all I can think about was him explaining in the original HG movie why there’s a Victor, why they don’t just kill 24 kids at random:

THE SNAKE SCENE IN THE ARENA WHERE LUCY GRAY SINGS?!? ASDFGHJKL THIS IS CINEMA

The Games felt so much more primal and sad, like you could tell all of them were just trying to survive, even Coral who seemed to target Lucy Gray ruthlessly but then before her death made the comment that it can’t have all been for nothing…

The fact that Gaul didn’t want to call an end to the games even though Lucy Gray was the final survivor, and it was only when the other mentors were chanting to let her out, to call it, that she finally did it…

I nearly lost my shit during the first hanging scene because I suddenly remembered that THIS was what the Hanging Tree song was based on; “they strung up a man they say who murdered three” “dead man called out for his love to flee” etc. And that is EXACTLY what happened, right to a tee: the man protesting his innocence, calling for his love to go…

Listen I may be REALLY off, but the meadow where Coryo and Lucy Gray met up again… is it the same meadow from the final scene in Mockingjay P2 with Everlark and their kids?!?

It probably isn’t but it reminded me of it idk

THE KATNISS PLANT - FORESHADOWING 😭 “it’s not ready yet” “things change fast” ASDFGHJKL

SEJANUS PLINTH YOU HAVE ALWAYS DESERVED BETTER 😭 knew it was coming but I was so sad

The scene where they hang Sejanus was so chilling, because the birds (i think they were Jabberjays and not Mockingjays but I could be wrong?) repeated his blood curdling calls for help as he was hung, like I was so haunted by it afterwards

No wonder Coriolanus Snow hates the fucking birds, Jesus Christ

THE CABIN AND WOODS SCENES?!?

The absolute tonal shift when he finds the guns, when Lucy Gray remarks that she’s the only loose end as if it’s a taunt, a challenge etc.

Coriolanus running through the woods, screaming “AFTER EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE FOR YOU?!?” - it just SCREAMS toxic relationship quite frankly, like whether you believe there was any genuine love at all or not, it just screams how toxic the relationship was between them. It was doomed from the start frankly

I was so concerned that the film would make it clear whether or not he killed Lucy Gray, but thankfully they left it ambiguous just like the book. Did one of his bullets hit her? Did she fly free?

It’s so interesting that Lucy Gray and her games were completely and utterly wiped, there was no trace of them - but her songs, her art, survived even after she disappeared. Songs like the Meadow song and the Hanging Tree survived and were passed on through District 12, becoming part of their culture - Snow couldn’t destroy that, no matter how hard he might have tried

Also YES, I noticed that Tigris called him “Coryo” until their last scene together, and then it was “Coriolanus” 😭 and also the fact that she warned him not to turn into his father, his father had hate in his eyes… and then at the end, she sadly tells him “you look like your father, Coriolanus” 😭

The small little hints of the man Coriolanus Snow is in the original series though??? The roses, the Katniss plant Easter egg, etc. And then there’s the fact we see glimpses of what later became his preferred method of killing his enemies - poison. He put poison in the compact and gave it to Lucy Gray, and then he poisoned Casca Highbottom… it’s just so fascinating to think of who this young 18 year old becomes later on, the way he changed over the course of the next 64 years and how those changes came directly from what happened in this story.

Ending the film with Donald Sutherland’s delivery of “It’s the things we love the most that destroy us” from the original movies?!?! FUCK YEAH I WAS THIS CLOSE TO SCREAMING

Honestly it’s got to be VERY hard to play a younger version of a Donald Sutherland character, but especially this one because that man KILLED the part in the films, but I think Tom Blyth did a really good job and I could definitely see hints of the older Snow being included in his performance, like I could genuinely believe it was the same character?

The fact that 64 years later a dark haired girl from District 12 wearing a mockingjay pin and singing songs once sung by a girl he thought dead absolutely fucked his life up?!? We love to see it. It’s like Lucy Gray gave him a middle finger lol

I’ll be honest, as soon as we left the cinema I said to my sister “the only thing is now I want to watch the original four Hunger Games movies” 😭

That’s all I can think of right now because I’m very feverish, I’ve got work in the morning and it was also a long film so there was a LOT going on, but I absolutely LOVED IT. The Hunger Games has truly been the only franchise that has a prequel that has been nearly universally loved and accepted by the fans, Suzanne Collins is truly amazing.

No cus what if one time angel is at asters waiting for him to get done with work and she notices Evie has been acting a little weird like just moping around and stuff and then later that night when Harry is home Evie starts being sick quiet a bit and she won’t even eat her dinner and angel would be soooooo :((((( just worried about her and Harry’s trying to reassure her like it’s okay she’s going to be fine cats get sick too and this has happened once before like she probably just ate something she shouldn’t of she just needs to get it out of her system. But angels still :(((( and so so clingy to evie following her all around the house to give her scratches and then when its time for bed angels still so worried about it and so he promises her the next morning he’ll call off and they’ll take her to the vet together. And when the go like angels holding evie in her lap the whole car ride cus she knows she doesn’t like her cat carrier. And maybe even like evie has to stay overnight cus she got dehydrated from being sick so many times like she’s fine but they just want her to be on an iv for 24 hours so she can get some fluids in her and you knowwwww angel is distraught having to leave with out her and even going to sleep that night she’s crying crying crying and h is trying to reassure her she’s okay she’s at the vet to get better likes she’s going to be good as new when she comes home and angels still like :((((( worried because she doesn’t want her to be lonely and think they abandoned her:((( and then when they do pick her up the next day she’s not letting her out of her sight 😭 following her around and cuddling to her to the point where evie is like 🙄 even though she’s a cuddly cat in general asdfghjkl 

I cannot lie I literally started tearing up reading this bc I was thinking about leaving my own cat at the vet over night and it made me SOOOOOOOOOO sad like I would be a little devastated so YEAH aster y/n would be so sad and literally distraught seeing her little baby sick and having to leave her at the vet like I can def see that night after they go home like she def would be crying fr fr most of the night like telling h how sad she is and how she feels so bad and how she hopes that evie isn't mad at them for leaving her :( and ofc h is also sad and scared for his baby like evie is his little girl:( but hes trying to make sure y/n doesn't feel so bad and promising they'll call first thing in the morning to see how shes doing and when they can pick her up and just def lots of cuddling to get her to calm down :( but shes so real for bothering evie and following her everywhere and h is sooooo like having to be like baby shes not feeling perfect yet just let her sleep and y/n is so :( but I just :( the idea of any baby cat having to go to the vet overnight like :(

no but like this isn't inaccurate lmfao. the first block of the story (s1-5) are so hit or miss for people. it truly is just some dudes fucking around in their basement. and it's hard to recommend bc like. everything About it is just some guys fucking around in their basement. it's very early '00s humor and without the benefit of nostalgia goggles (im pretty sure I first watched it in middle school?? '07 or so maybe??) it's reasonable for people to have that 'what..what the fuck is this' reaction to it

I forget who initially made this meme but it really is Like That lmfao. the sudden pivot into 'oh okay this is actually serious and part of a larger story than dudes dicking around in a canyon' and tbh I think once you get to season six and beyond, the first five become much easier to get through? because it's all laying the groundwork for characters and foreshadowing and junk.

and yeah like!!! it all comes down to the worlds worst wifeguy causing so much pain and trauma and suffering because he couldn't cope with the dead of his wife. like excuse me dr loser mcdeadwife, you still have a whole entire kid who needs you!! now look at her! jfc!

(don't even get me started on the fragments and the freelancers and asdfghjkl like. I think the sheer misery and drama and angst in the back half of the series - lmao for me rvb ended with s13 - makes the first five seasons all the more lightheartedly enjoyable)
