hiii! i hope you’re doing well :) i was wondering if you could write about mako x a deaf & mute!reader? they are perceived as a very calm, collected, and friendly person but they actually have major anger issues LOL they are just incredibly suppressed, they get frustrated at their own muteness (even though it’s selective; to reader, it feels like they cannot physically talk)

maybe asami also created the best hearing aids she could in her time LOL? because personally i enjoy hearing certain people (maybe reader only wears their hearing aids around certain people? e.g. the korra team; they tend to only appreciate certain sounds/voices)

just some thoughts! it’s fine if you don’t want to write it <3

Mako x deaf and mute reader

Mako deeply respects your calm and collected demeanor, finding it a grounding presence in his chaotic life… to say the least

You develop an unspoken understanding like:

Often communicating through gestures and facial expressions

Mako provides silent comfort, just being there for you when you are feeling particularly frustrated or angry

Which can also lead to some arguments as his temper isn’t also very stable

Mako introduces you to boxing or some other physical activity as a way to safely express your anger

Your calm demeanor helps Mako stay focused and collected during intense situations

Mako learns sign language to communicate better with you, trying to make you feel appreciated and understood

He almost gave up at the start when he was learning sign language, but Kya helped him out and reminded him how it can help your relationship

Arguing in sign language is kidna funny as sometimes Mako can’t catch up with what you’re saying like at all

Mako’s patience with your selective muteness kidna helps you feel less pressured and more accepted

Mako becomes adept at reading your emotions, often knowing when you are upset or frustrated before anyone else

Mako is very protective of you, especially when people are inconsiderate or rude about your muteness

Honestly at first Mako was really suprised when he found out about your anger issues

Sometimes it’s kidna funny when you get angry and argue in sign language where you move your hands too quickly for him to understand

You appreciate certain sounds, like Mako’s voice, and wears your hearing aids around him to feel more connected

The Korra team goes out of their way to include you in conversations, making sure you never feel left out

Korra learned sign language suprisingly fast and seemed to not have any problem with it

For Bolin he only knows the basics and uses Mako or Korra to translate very often and when he does try he usually messes and mixes up the signs

Asami takes longer and while learning finds different ways to communicate

You and Mako develop open communication, where you feel safe expressing your emotions without fear of judgment

You find a balance in your relationship, where both feel heard, understood, and supported

girls girls girls - korrasami oneshot

(this is based on the song girls girls girls by fletcher)

The slightly dim but still very colorful lighting that Bolin had put on for his house party had started to get on Korra’s nerves. She wanted to find him and tell him to switch to something with a lot less strobing but he was nowhere to be found. She silently groaned and tried to make her way to the front door so she could leave, using her strength to push people out of her way. 

She finally got close to the door when she saw the most gorgeous woman she had ever seen, dancing with three other girls. Her dark black hair shined as she flipped it out of her face in laughter. Korra caught herself staring and moved to brush past another party attendee.  

She snuck one last look at the dancing girl but was shocked to see that the girl was already looking at her. Korra could’ve sworn that the girl had winked at her so she stayed planted on the ground, waiting to see if the girl would do anything else. She laughed again at something her friend was doing before making eye contact with Korra again. She excused herself from her group and beckoned for Korra to follow her. Korra nearly malfunctioned as she contemplated going with her. She decided to go for it and squeezed between two of the girl’s friends.

She met the girl at the landing of the staircase, which was also home to one of the speakers. The basic instrumental music blared in Korra’s ears and she fought the urge to cover her ears.

“I’m Asami! What’s your name?” The girl, now known as Asami, yelled over the music as she leaned over and grabbed a pretzel from the snack table.

“Korra! That’s a really pretty name!” 

“Aw, thanks!” Asami tossed the pretzel into her mouth and smiled at Korra. 

“And,” Korra decided to just go for it, “you’re a really pretty girl!”

Even with the awfully loud music, Korra could hear Asami gasp and then giggle at the compliment. 

“Sorry, was that too much?” 

“Not even close! I like bold girls!” Asami’s mesmerizing pale green eyes scanned Korra’s face and just barely made their way down before going back up, seemingly checking her out. She snapped out of it and took a step closer to Korra. 

Korra felt a chill go up her spine as she leaned in, “Asami?” 

“You have some…” Asami trailed off as she moved her hand up to tuck a few strands of hair behind Korra’s ear. Her fingers lingered and her eyes darted to Korra’s lips for a second. “Got it,” she smiled a seemingly innocent smile but both of them knew the truth behind it. 

“So you like bold girls, huh?” Korra leaned in herself and waited to see if Asami would pull back. She didn’t. Korra softly guided her hands over Asami’s hips, hooked her fingers into the belt loops on Asami’s jean skirt, and gently tugged. 

Asami gasped again as she slightly stumbled towards Korra and caught herself on her shoulders. Korra chuckled softly, a sound that caused Asami to blush as she tried to hide how much she loved the sound. 

Korra could see the way Asami was looking at her lips, she wasn't even close to subtle. She could even smell Asami's cherry lip gloss because of how close they were. She rolled an idea over in her head but took a risk that she was hoping she wouldn't regret. 

She closed the small gap between their faces and put her lips softly on Asami’s. Asami froze for a second but collected herself and kissed Korra back. Time seemed to stand still and the seconds they were connected seemed to turn into hours. 

Korra pulled back to catch a breath but almost immediately locked lips again after seeing Asami’s eyes basically pleading for her to come back. Asami made a satisfied noise and slightly guided Korra backward so they were against the wall. It was like they had forgotten about everyone else. Bolin’s lights, Asami’s friends, the music, it all was left behind for a moment as the girls pressed more into each other. 

Asami withdrew this time, taking in the whole situation. Korra's hands traveled back down Asami’s body and fiddled with some of the strings at the bottom of her shirt. Asami attempted to lean back in when she saw, out of the corner of her eye, one of her friends trying to wave her down. 

Asami tried to communicate with her eyes but she knew her face couldn't be seen from that far in the awful lighting. She sighed and reached back to scoop up Korra’s hands into her own.

“I, very unfortunately, have to go,” Asami started, “but I’d love to get your number? And then we can continue this some other time?” She asked with the cutest inflections.

Korra clumsily pulled her hands away and yanked her phone out of her shorts’ pocket. As she put in her password, Asami’s friend walked over with an expression that could only really mean ‘we gotta go, what's the hold-up?’

“Perfect, just the girl I wanted to see. Gimme my purse,” Asami made a dainty ‘give it to me’ gesture towards the dusty pink bag that the woman was carrying in her hands. She gave it to Asami, who dug around in it and took out her phone. 

Korra saw her open her contacts and press ‘add contact’. Asami beckoned for her to go ahead with the number. She recited it, watching Asami’s manicured nails fly on her keyboard. 

Asami read the number back and Korra gave her a smile as confirmation it was correct. Asami’s friend upgraded to physically dragging Asami away so she snuck one last kiss onto Korra's cheek and waved goodbye. 

Korra stared into the abyss for a minute, really thinking about everything that just happened. She was, however, interrupted by Bolin appearing in front of her. 

“Hey, Korra. Mako said you looked like you were looking for me? Did you need something?”

Korra snapped back into reality, “What? Oh, yeah, no. It's all good.”

“Ya sure?” 

Korra's phone dinged twice. She snuck a look at the screen to see two texts from who she assumed was Asami. Going off of the cut-off signed ‘ami’ at the end of the second text, anyway. 

“Yeah, I’m good,” Korra couldn't even hide her giant smile, one that Bolin decided not to question as he left her on the landing, alone with her Asami-led thoughts.

Korrasami art!! Sketched this earlier in the week and finally colored it!! I had to wait for my earth tone acrylic paint markers to arrive because I needed tan flesh colors for Korra!! The shuttle art set I got a few months ago doesn’t have any flesh tones so I finally ordered some:) The markers aren’t the best but they will do for now! I didn’t want to drop $100000 on markers 😅

Like I'm sorry she doesn't have a personality (mind you I've only seen 2 seasons of LOK) outside of being a hot rich girl who also kind of can fight and drive fast cars? And also in terms of the plot is simply a love object for Mako, also considering her and Korra get together WHERE IS THE SLOW BURN CHEMISTRY THERE IS LITERALLY NONE WTF WERE THEY THINKING ALSO KORRA idk nobody was good enough for her so far smh
