Hey guys does anyone know why exactly Todd ended up at Welton??? Because im working on some character sheets and this hc hit me like a truck, it may be my new pretend it’s canon Todd Anderson headcanon. (Trigger warnings for addiction/neglect)

We are all well aware that Todd’s parents don’t seem to have ever paid very much attention to our boy, he is invisible in his own home. Naturally, most kids would act out as a result of this. Keep that in mind for a moment. We also saw in the scene where Charlie brings two girls into the poet’s cave, that Todd is the only one who can stomach drinking the whiskey that the boys pass around. So, what if Todd really did act out? What if in his early years of high school he was drinking/potentially using other substances???? Like, he could have been in a really bad place (early hs rly sucks) closeted gay, in the 50s and starts to drink as a coping mechanism/rebellion against his neglectful parents? Okay bear with me here, what if his parents only looked at him when something really bad happened, things get out of hand and they think the only solution is to send him away, hence landing him at Welton, hence him being the only one to drink the whiskey without coughing.

it seems like everyone constantly forgets about stephanie meeks, even me. her academic achievements are almost never rewarded. her athletic achievements are never acknowledged. sometimes, her dad will literally say 'oh i forgot you were here'

gerry pitts doesn't forget. in fact, when he finds out about something, she's the first one he goes to. something about being born on the same day and their families being connected somehow bonded them forever.

she's the one who suggested restarting the dead poets society. especially because amelia anderson, the cute one from trinity day school would be joining them if they did,

perhaps trouble and mischief will get her some attention

the concept of jeff anderson is considerably better if you imagine him as this perfect golden boy who every one loves and adores and looks up to but who comes home to his little, sweet as sugar, shy and soft spoken brother who bullies the fuck out of him

meeks often stays up till dawn studying, but if he is very tired, his notes will stop making sense around the 3 AM mark. in the morning, he will have to look at where his sleep-deprived self wrote "emnergy" unintentionally and try not to laugh

(pitts will often be the person to get him to go to sleep when he starts turning incoherent, but that's a story for another time)

thinking about how welton handled neil's suicide.

the way mr nolan's speech about neil committing seemed rehearsed, how they barely spent any time talking about him and more time talking about the investigation.

it got me thinking... how many students were there before neil? how many, before him, had done the exact same thing for similar or differing reasons.

how many times had mr nolan have to repeat that exact same speech? or maybe it was more heartfelt with the first student, but as each year, yet another students couldn't take it anymore, mr nolan's speech grew shorter and colder.

maybe they covered it up just as well, or even better than, neil's suicide. maybe there were no inspiring teachers back then, no one that gave the students a reason to metaphorically stand on their desks.

i don't know, i'm just... thinking.

so... y'all know what day it is, and thus, i believe it's time for me to make my daily contribution to sinday. which is that barton is indeed a representative of the ' love as consumption ' trope and literally feels like he wants to crawl into his partners skin whenever he's in love with someone because even being SUPER close to them is not close enough for him. and i'm just going to leave that sort of... interesting, as well as morbid statement with y'all to do with as you please
