noticed these sorts of characters. decided why not make a diagram or whatever
transcript and more below cut
NORMAL OBJECT
An object, typically real or tangible.
Stick limbs and oval eyes.
Other than object-related abilities, no powers.
TRUE ALGEBRALIEN
Number or symbol
usually a surreal and bizarre entity
has supernatural abilities
more fleshy ??? arms; circle eyes w/ pupils
ALGEBRALIEN-STYLE OBJECTS
Resembles objects
Shares same traits with algebraliens otherwise
NONOBJECT
Not an object
May have powers
Could literally be anything
as a note, i say things more generally.
something i didn't put in nonobject but could have been put there is that they don't usually have faces nor limbs. though, they can definitely have limbs. nonobjects could be just about anything, as long as they aren't objects... like, a regular human for example. those notably have faces and limbs.
nonobjects do, by definition, include algebralien but i don't think it's very useful to talk about them as a group including algebraliens. unless like, apart from objects.
what counts as an "object" might be vague, especially dealing with more abstract things. for example, take a scribble. is that an object? it might depend more on show or interpretation. does Black Hole from BFDI count as a nonobject? maybe, maybe not.
also, there are algebralien-style nonobjects. which have the algebralien style, but are not objects. for example, a human or a turkey.

Unpopular opinion:
I hate all this talk about “girl math” and “girl dinner”. The way it’s described actually diminishes the girls’ intelligence, and it’s not a funny, quirky thing. Also having what is essentially a midafternoon snack for dinner is reinforcing bad eating habits

the way tumblr talks about medicine makes me wonder how many of us here actually have critical thinking skills
#stop trying to explain shit you know nothing about so you can frame it negatively for clout!!!! literally knock it off!!!#there are so many valid opinions but i don’t understand this and therefore it’s bad “ is NOT one of them actually#fuck it’s far from perfect but seeing people talk about people I work with every day as if they’re monsters is honestly so tiring#it’s just all over my dash#if you read something and it confuses you and that makes you angry#the solution is NOT to make a tumblr post flaming it with all of your misinformation and undereducated opinions#“it is batshit to base dx criteria on statistics “ NO IT IS NOT NO IT IS NOT NO IT IS NOT ARE YOU STUPID???????#THIS IS STEM LITERALLY EVERYTHING IS MATH WHAT THE HELL DO YOU M E A N ?????#literally like!!! 90% of dx criteria involves statistical probability!!!! doctors prescribe statins because you are statistically likely#to develop heart disease or endure a major cardiac event#like they calculate your disease risk based on averages and so so so much data and math and shit THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!!#so why are you complaining about it as if you do!!!!!!!!#sorry. I know it’s in good faith for the most part but. it feels like straight entitlement to constantly complain and dog on doctors#I’m a victim of medical malpractice!!! i still show respect and understand that they’re individuals. people. human beings.#who are largely trying to help others#regardless of my personal experience with others in their field#sorry this is just a vent now#i love research I love science I love medicine please stop hating on every aspect of it and my community ty#delete later#not fandom#stinky speaks

One of the really frustrating things is that most outside people focus of the obvious mental symptoms when talking about DID and OSDD and it's just.... Frustrating?
Like- no one talks about the constant headache. No one talks about the exhaustion that comes with constantly fighting brain fog and dissociation. No one talks about how isolating all this shit is and how most social interactions feel like a game of mental 4D chess where one side is played simultaneously by five people all with differing opinions on what the strategy should be.
I deal with all of this near constantly and I am somehow one of the more functional systems I know.
Like, fuuuuck man-

Behold, the Christmas story Tiger wrote over three years ago (And that still isn’t finished yet):
Tumblr media
Andělka has a light mikado and dark blue peepers. She likes to wear a ladybug clip and a charm bracelet. Andělka is seven years old and those eyes of hers see more than they should.
They know when the teacher wants to cry. They tell her that her dad is happy when she brings him a picture she made and that mommy lights up when she shares chocolate with her.
And Andělka is tired of seeing sad people.
It’s an advent calendar story, meaning a story a day from tomorow till Christmas is here, if you’d like that.

pens or pencils?
I love how vague this question is without any context! (If I answer this in a way you weren't expecting, do let me know.)
On the rare occasion that I'm writing longhand, I prefer pens. My beloved workhorse is the Pilot G-2 07 in blue. I'd love the Uni-ball Signo UM-151 a lot more if it had a .7mm version, because it comes in my favorite ink color: blue-black.
(I won't talk about my small but potent fountain pen collection because we'd be here all day.)
Pencils are for math. Specifically, mechanical pencils with .5mm lead graded 2B and paired with the only eraser I really trust: the Pentel Clic.

i very firmly believe an intro to sociology and a social theory class should be Mandatory Prerequisites for most undergrad degrees, no different than the required english or history credits

the other day on a walk and on a whim i bought myself an $11 mocha tea loaf as a little treat even though i was skeptical as to how one (1) baked good could contain both coffee and tea flavors within it and also i'll be honest i did balk a little at the $11 price tag, but so far this one purchase has yielded four (4) days worth of pre- and/or post-dinner desserts and also it is hands down the best chocolate cake i've ever eaten in my life, so. So.

pretty sure your snare trap has math for cheese
you'd think so. i thought so, too--but no one talks to me about the actual math from my fanfic (me getting hurt feelings from everyone fixating on 'bruce wayne batman dating' rather than chasing the 'data regression' -> 'fast fourier transform' -> 'dick grayson is a former mathlete about to read korvin to filth', but i fucking did it to myself and know it)
actual math/stem people more knowledgeable than me take one look and go "lmao poser" and ignore it
laymen read my fic and don't care beyond the spectacle
i think the math acts like a filter. you either vibe w my processes (which cannot be separated from how i write) or you [x] immediately

if my main goal was to get into arguments about people who aren't real, and explain for the millionth time that reading comprehension and critical thinking are actually useful skills that you should know, you do realise that i just wouldn't bother with the whole writing thing, right?

So I talked about my grandmother (and other family members) at New Year's, who did not believe in climate change and who generally annoyed me while I was there
Now I need to talk about my other grandparents, who are the polar opposite of the other ones. Whenever ppl tell me to be open minded towards older people not understanding new things or whatever, I think of my grandparents.
My grandparents who live in a very conservative part of England, yet who still participated until very recently in labour activities (they participated less after Brexit was voted due to being pissed off at the world, and then stopped due to covid and health reasons)
They are still very politically engaged, despite having most of the people around them being Tories
Of course, they don't know everything, and we don't always agree. But we listen to each other, and we learn from the different experiences
As an example, my grandma told me just the other day that she didn't agree with the Scottish bill on gender recognition. I asked her what she knew of the bill. She repeated what she had heard on the news: it's going to allow men to hurt women.
I told her that no, it only allowed people to change the gender written on the birth certificate, and that it was already possible. We went together to look up the official statement on the Scottish Government website (neither of them are very good with googling stuff), and they read it, and when we talked about it again later they said that they didn't see the problem with this bill.
When I cut my hair and started dressing "more masculine", my grandparents, without asking, took down any photograph of me with long hair, or me "feminine". When I asked about that, my grandfather said that I looked much happier now, and there was no point in having pictures of me unhappy.
It was that simple.
(meanwhile my other grandparents still have pictures of me with long hair, clearly looking uncomfortable af)
All this to say, old people are generally closed minded because they are old. Old people can be open minded, it only depends on the person in question.
