If my memory serves me correct, you've shown us your take on Mona's parents and 5-Volt's hubby. Have you devised anything about the other parents? Like Kat and Ana's or 18-Volt's? I know we heard only snippets about those and 13-Amp's in canon...kinda. It's interesting how many gaps imagination could fill in when it comes to WarioWare.

Sure have! Ashley's, too. And Wario's mom. And Spitz's dad, although I never actually showed my design of him because it's kind of underwhelming. I also have Dribble's extended family rattling around in my head too (similarly underwhelming because it's just a bunch of dogs). Really I just find it fun to take cartoon characters whose family has been vaguely alluded to at best and fill in the blanks to explain why they're like that. It's like a coloring book. I haven't drawn Kat+Ana's or 18-volt's though...my take on Kat and Ana's parents needs more time in the oven, because 1) i feel like i need to get my finger more on the pulse of campy ninja movies before I can successfully pastiche them, and 2) I don't think I can top this bit from jan Misali's esteemed novella Wario Faces Consequences For His Actions:

I haven't drawn 18-volt's mom before, although I'd probably end up drawing her sooner than the twins only because I have a better handle on her situation. According to 18-volt's stage in Gay Man Wario, his mom is a lot less smothering than 5-volt and is instead rarely around, letting 18-volt play video games whenever he wants. He's clearly a latchkey kid with a single mom who works long hours to support them both, which is both sad and also on par with the rest of the lonely children of WarioWare. 18-volt has been sidelined for so long, but given the crazy deep cuts that Warioware throws out sometimes (e.g. cicada, the music box from WL3, the fact that 5-volt herself was hinted at all the way back in mega microgames), there is a non-zero chance, however slim, that we may one day see her for real. She deserves to have fun too!!

Can I say, one of my big headcanons with Killer is that he would NOT be a smooth talker if he ever got in a relationship with someone.

That guy spent years studying those around him to keep them from being too enraged at him, so I don't doubt that he'd do something like that in a romantic relationship too. He'd be attentive (often to a creepy extreme, but I feel like anyone getting in a relationship with him would reasonably expect a bit of stalking). But there was never any benefit in learning to flirt and stuff like that.

My man would get flirted with and his brain would do the Windows error sound.

I desperately need to see him be an awkward mess sometimes and will probably write it myself at some point (colorkiller is really tempting my hand. I don't usually write ship content but DAMN)

I once read a fanfic where the author headcanon’d that the reason Stage 2 develops things like flirting is because he read Alphys’ old mangas/comics/watched her anime in his timeline with Chara and started copying the behavior of the anime love interests and I thought that headcanon was hilarious.

But I gotta admit that idea is pretty fucking adorable and id honestly love to read more about this headcanon of yours, or just read about it in interactions with others (with color or others).

And I think it’d possibly be because, if he’s in a relationship with someone, it may also come with the caveat that he actually wants their approval or for them to think at least well of him. and is so suprised when they actually do or reciprocate that he kinda malfunctions for a minute there.

People because they actually like and want him too, as opposed to praising or showing him affection whenever he does something they want well or approve of—in which case he’s not effected by the praise except for the knowledge that he at least is doing something good and successfully avoided angering that person & the consequences that come with it.

Just the idea that they’re praising or showing him attention because they want to and like him and not because he did something they wanted or because they want something from him. Seems like a pretty foreign concept for him.

and you know what. what if he did something like a happy stim whenever something like that happened, or like did his little hands clasped over his soul thingy he sometimes does in his canon drawings, even if he’s not completely aware of it or why he’s doing it but his friend(s)/partner(s) know and thus know whenever he actually likes something they do or say because hed do this very specific thing subconsciously/instinctively. (this was inspired by an actual irl experience I had with someone lmao)

Miles Edgeworth has a Duel Runner, primarily Turbo Duels, and probably has an Archetype based on the Steel Samurai. Syncro Monsters bc I can't imagine a Turbo Duel without them.

In this universe there is absolutely Archetypes based on that series and also Signal Samurai

Trucy definitely primary does Action Duels bc proformance and also use the Magician archetype bc obvi

Pheonix, I don't know what archetype he is but, he's definitely more old school Duel monsters kinda guy. He has a gen 1 Duel disk that's falling apart like his Nokia, he probably doesn't use any special summoning beyond fusion and

Actually, Y'KNOW WHAT, Pheonix Wright doesn't have an Archetype he uses random cards he's collected over the years! Some of his cards are from clients he's helped, some are from important people in his life (like Mia, Maya, Miles etc. ) some of his cards are so worn with use and age that it's obvious that those ones are what he got in his childhood. He still somehow wins all his duels.

And then of course over the 7yg he starts adding some gambling cards to his deck. Like cards were you have to roll a die or flip a coin for their effects.

Maya's deck I feel like would revolve around ritual summoning. Or like sending monsters to the graveyard in order to summon them to the field. Idk but I do know that she would have that one Ritual monster that's just a hamburger in there.

Apollo is another deck archetype I don't really know (maybe Ally of Justice?)but wouldn't be surprised if he had more than a few cards where he and/or his opponent had to reveal their hand as a part of the cards effect. Also for no reason I think his favorite special summon is XYZ

Klavier Gavin probably has some kind of Rockstar archetype that he uses

I feel like Kristoph's deck kinda like slowly drains your life points away. Like has a bunch of spells and traps that make it so whenever you do anything it costs life points. Some of them also hurt him but most of them only hurt you.

First Impression of Reverse: 1999 from a Long Time Gacha Games Player

Hello! Today I'll tell you my first impression about a new gacha game that just release it's global version not too long ago, "Reverse:1999". I preregistered this game and mind you, I actually had zero intention to add more gacha games into my sleeves especially the turn-based ones, but the art... The ART man!! It caught my attention soo let's dig in!

Before we start I'd like the readers (you) to know that I've been playing gacha games daily for a considered long time, since 2017 and still going on today. Although not a lot of them so here are some that I've played for over 3 months (pretty much understand the overall system):

Fate/Grand Order, Arknights, Genshin Impact, Honkai/Star Rail

Bold are my main daily games. And then here are some that I've tried, well at least I know their UI & prologue lol:

SAO MD (discontinued), Food Fantasy, Granblue Fantasy, Punishing/Gray Raven, Tower of Fantasy

I might bring up some titles to compare and most likely from between the "over 3 months" ones. Then, let's start!

What's the big deal of "gacha game" and why I play them?

I like to draw and gacha games have one of the best community for art clout. No this is serious, and one of my top reason of why I'm playing this borderline gambling type of game.

Gacha games are living from their banner rotation. The second ones are new characters and story reveal that updated regularly... Don't you think these are real good timings for posting?? They also got those art gods that somehow helped the promotion and attract the peasants (me included) to get to know the story and make fanarts too. I'm not kidding. This is why I've been here since I started digital art. Lol.

But every actions need consequences. Gacha games are very high maintenance to stay relevant, from the player's side. You missing one update, you'll feel like an old man. This is the most FOMO (fear of missing out) type of game. The main sacrifice is TIME. So many things need to tend in one game, and if you play multiple it means you have to spare some hours in a day. If you can't, get ready to lose something. Why I don't say money? Because I'm pretty much f2p, I never really spent my money for gacha. But time, time bro. Time also money! This is also why I write this post.

The Premise of Reverse: 1999

The early story kind of reminds me to Persona 3 where there are some special times (Dark Hours in P3) where an ordinary human can't survive and there are some special creatures than survived.

In R:1999 the special time is called "storm" which will turn back time further from your original time. For example, MC is from 1999 but she's sent to 1920s thanks to the storm. So they made a foundation or something to get back to the original time. Well in a sense this is kinda similar to FGO (Fate/Grand Order)'s Chaldea, maybe that's why I'm so driven to try this game lol. The name of those "special creatures" are arcanists.

Actually I don't really understand everything yet, but at least that's the glimpse I got. Also they tried to fix the history or something whenever they're getting sent back so, basically a fancier FGO right?? I have no problem though.

Setting

The game's mainly set in the west in 20th century. I think this is the main perks of the game, because the entire design and aesthetic revolves around this so it can differ greatly from most gacha games that either have fantasy RPG setting or urban post/apocalyptic ones. Personally I really like this.

The Main Character

The MC is such a breath of fresh air!! It's a woman, and people called her "Vertin". So no, not your typical self-insert anime degenerate persona like most gacha games. Here is a very beautiful EP of her:

The Characters

The characters are pretty unique imo, you can play as inanimate object (visually) like apple and satellites. The arcanists are the playable (and summonable) characters. So expect to see various 20th century-themed designs.

Also the designs are dope!! They're unlike most gacha games' characters designs where they wore something weird that will awaken your darkest corner of brain but here they're just dressed NORMALLY LIKE A NORMAL FANCY PERSON I'm so glad. Normal doesn't mean boring, this is a compliment. Even the "fanserviced" ones are still pretty tasteful than just put random windows everywhere.

Summoning

This game has a carry-over pity on 70th roll, soft pity started like in the 60th. They use the same gacha currency on both permanent and limited banners. There's 50/50 like in Mihoyo games. You need 180 clear drops (?) to turn them into one rabbit statue (?) for a summon. I think this one is very similar with Arknights. Personally in my opinion this is very generous and reasonable, but I'm a FGO player so yeah my "generous" standard may differ greatly with a lot of people lol.

Oh you also can get guaranteed *6 from beginner's summoning banner.

(Early) Gameplay & Progression

The gameplay is like FGO with extra steps. Or FGO with fewer steps... Anyway, it's a card game. Each character has cards you can choose per turn. Once the "stars" are filled you can unleash the ultimate. Honestly? A little boring lol, but things may change once I get out early-game phase. People said this is very similar to 7 Deadly Sins game but I never get close to the IP so idk.

You can set which enemy to hit per card unlike FGO where it's done per turn. Personally I think this is neat. Although among the games I've tried I think Honkai/Star Rail still superior for turn-based system since they can control the speed and whatsoever. However this kind of "fixed" system also nice since you don't need to farm artifacts/relics to be playable.

The early stages are so easy. Well, most games have very easy early stages though, unless a certain popular furry tower defense game (*cough* Arknights *cough*).

For character progression pretty much just level up, no need for artifacts/relics like Mihoyo games so it's fast and easy.

You can set a "replay" for autofarming once you get 2 stars achievement on the node. You can also choose the "amount" of drop rate for just one battle. This is very neat!

Dailies, Weeklies, etc

R:1999 has similar progression with Arknights and Mihoyo games with this one. The daily and weekly tasks literally like Arknight's.

Tbh their dailies are quite a hassle lol, you need at least spend 5-15 minutes to clear all.

And their "battlepass", looks like Genshin's battlepass or HSR's Nameless Honor

Gotta admit between ALL the games I've played, nothing beats the simple daily of LOGIN in FGO (in exchange with disastrous gacha and tremendous farming🙏).

UI & Visual

Maybe I should've put this a little earlier lol.

The UI is AMAZING!! One of the best. Really (once again) reminds me of Arknights, since I like their UI too, and even better I think especially their retro aesthetic.

The visual is GORGEOUS. The game is presented in common gacha game storytelling method: visual novel, however they tried to incorporate like L2D animation in the STORY'S VISUAL.

The characters have different art styles, I think done by different artists like most gacha games (the only one who didn't do this are Mihoyo games, please explain). And the sprites are full body non-chibi 2d animations! This one's like FGO, although still like 10% chibified so in terms of sprite style, FGO still has the crown.

Music & other sounds

Music is BANGER!

I rate it 4.5/5. Maybe the 2nd music of gacha games that I like after Genshin. It doesn't sound like basic visual novel ost (looking at you FGO and HSR) in most part, tho since this is basically *still* visual novel, so in some part still sounds pretty stale after you heard it so many times.

The voice over is dope! They used various accents, so it's pretty interesting!

Housing/Dorm

The name of housing/dorm in R:1999 is "Wilderness", something like islands. This is once again reminds me to Arknight's "Base" but outdoor.

End game

Honestly I haven't found the endgame content for this one, if you're looking for challenges maybe games like Arknights and HSR still better choice.

Conclusion

Based on every gacha games I've played, I can say progression, UI, and summoning from Reverse:1999 is similar to Arknights, but turn-based and A LOT easier at the start. If you've played Arknights before I think understanding the system will like walk in the park.

For the story it's somewhat like FGO, of course not the same, but still both are "correcting the history and go back to our time" kind of story.

The game doesn't ask much, so I think if you're a gacha game player and barely have any time for more games, this one's still enjoyable with very minimal investment. Suitable as your 2nd, 3rd, or even 5th gacha games. Especially when you're just want to vibe with the art and setting like me.

If you're new in gacha game, there's no problem with trying out this, but I think the game is made with thought that the target market are people that familiar with gacha games. Still, enjoy your time!

Tl;dr if you still want to play your main games daily while join the Reverse:1999 bandwagon, it's totally possible without sacrificing much of your time.

Made it out of the hospital (again) just in time for Elden Ring DLC. So, going from physical suffering to emotional and mental suffering. Fun times! Actually, my main first thought on the DLC is that I can understand the inclusion of a secondary upgrade system to affect your strength in just the DLC to allow you to experience a challenge whenever you actually decide to take it on, but I also kind of hate the idea of having to find these new specific items to gain that kind of strength for just this content. I know it's done because if you just made the entire DLC a set difficulty higher than late game content, then you'd have to adjust runes and leveling to be faster there, and going out of order would screw up the already kinda awkward level scaling of the original content. However, if you just made it scale to the player level somehow by default that would completely divert from the entire feel of the Soulsbourne style of games, which definitely draw a lot of their difficulty influence from old school RPGs like Wizardry and Dragon Quest, from an era where you could absolutely wander into areas where things were too dangerous for you and you'd have to learn through consequences, or develop the skills and patience to overcome harder foes outside of the expected growth curve, gaining strength much faster but at greater risk. Level scaling would ruin that whole vibe.

I just kinda resent going on another massive scavenger hunt to feel even close to as strong as I felt even half way through Elden Ring's main game. This seems to be a robust DLC, and this seems like the best solution, but it's kind of like starting all over when it comes to fighting the bigger boss enemies. But mainly, I already searched all over for flask upgrades, bell bearings, and rare materials to get the tools I am using up to par. I guess I am just kinda used to the Dark Souls DLCs that feel like adding a bonus dungeon with some extra bosses and unique items with a slight uptick in difficulty (except Crown of the Sunken King, that was annoying as all heck).

Maybe mousey draws that line hard in the sad that he isnt interested so they dont take any actual flirting he does seriously. Possibly some farmer trying to slip into a normal husband role and whenever their asked they think its some kind of bully/teasing. Maybe even mousey concerned hes ruining his romantic chances and just hits him with the “You dont like me, you dont have to hang around me cause you feel bad, go live and be happy.” Cause i want him to face the consequences for his actions lmaooo

OK, this would probably happen after he fires the farm hand and tells him to fuck off. Reader goes over one day to say hi to her new friend and he's nowhere to be seen. Farmer tells them smugly that he left and ain't coming back. Mouse of course is a bit disheartened at this, they were really starting to like him. Now they have no friends and are all alone. Farmer is absolutely beaming. He has them all to himself.

But when he starts hanging around reader, doing things for them, inviting them over for tea. Mouse gets a bit uncomfortable. He made it clear he wasn't interested in romance or friendship except for Mouse's near-daily offerings. And suddenly he's best mates with them? It doesn't feel right. Mouse confronts him one day and tell's him he doesn't have to feel bad for them that the farm hand left without a goodbye, that they are ok and don't need their hand held.

But of course, he continues. to the point Mouse thinks he's making fun of her, that this is all a prank. I mean he's inviting her to the movies! He would never have done that before, so why now?

But if mouse told the farmer all their suspicions about his intentions, he might do something rash. He's a hot-blooded male with the emotional and social intelligence of a jack russel, if mouse keeps denying him he will resort to kidnapping.

I didn't draw Frankie's outfit in full ever, but ur right their sweater is like stylistically tattered. And they've got split pants. One leg is a solid black and the other is their signature palid. But each side has a patch of fabric that matches the other leg. And I imagine theyre wearing like chunky black platforms of some-type for their shoes

When it comes to body types I dont really know what the names and what not for all that is? I know some people have got pears and apples, but Idk I wouldnt know how to point that out to you my brain just doesnt see the pattern for those terms. I did though find this an interesting question so I went back over and did sketches over some of the designs I did.

And I thought it'd be fun to expand on why I went with the ideas I did

for the first five I did I didn't really put a ton of thought into it? I really just went with my gut. Frankie and Lagoona actually have pretty similar body types, with more "masculine" frames ie wider shoulders, flat chests, and narrower hips. Plus theyre both long limbed and a bit lanky. Theyre both a play on a square. When you look at square shaped characters you tend to view them as "sturdier" whether that be literally or emotionally. For Frankie that's square shape is fake. They aren't a very sturdy person, they're new to everything and always on the verge of tripping over their own feet but they WANT to be sturdy. Meanwhile Lagoona is a very confident person! She's comfortable in her own scales. I also wanted Lagoona to have more of a "swimmer's" body cuz, ya know. She's a fish.

I don't have much to say on the other three. Draculaura's body type was inspired by my own, but it's not exactly like mine either, I'm not as short as her lol. Clawdeen has a fuller figure as well, but she's a very active person so a lot of that is actually just muscle.

Cleo is the most generic of the group lol.

Spectra was the next character I actively tried to design, and for her I kinda leaned into her canon monster high body type. Primarly cuz I really wannted to make her look like a y2k girl with the lowrise boot cut jeans and little ballet flats. fun fact tho! I also really wanted to lean into her being a more sharped edged person with the only exception being her round face, and this is to accentuate the type of character she is! At least, my version of Spectra is meant to be a bit more antagonistic. She does mean things without fully thinking through the consequences of her actions and how they might affect the people around her. She can be pretty self serving. But that's not to say she is unfriendly or that people don't like her.

and here obviously is my most recent line up lol.

Much like Cleo I honestly did not put much of any thought into Ghoulia's actual body type.Her pose I did somewhat though, I wanted her to slouch a bit and look kind of droopy.

For Venus and Rochelle I had opposing strategies for both characters. For Venus I wanted to make her very sharp edged and punk, Just overall I wanted her monster type and personality to really come across. And i like the idea of her being pretty muscle-y actually ngl. Rochelle I tried to go for a more "pear" shaped body? Which with the pose and clothing choice I feel gets lost a bit. I like the idea of her having a very soft and rounded silhouette to contrast the whole... spikey rock monster thing lol.

Abbey being giant and thick just makes sense to me imo, but also I really wanted to lean into rounder shapes to contrast the first impression she usually gives people. That whole Cold, Stoic, and Mean impression people get from her isn't true, in reality Abbey is quite friendly and sweet once you actually get to know her.

Personally if I were to describe him, calling him knightly would be one of first things that comes to mind.

He isn't the bravest person there is but with a good enough motivation he'd be able to overcome most of his fears even if for just a moment.

He's honest, and he wouldn't be keeping a lot of secrets from you, as he prefers to be an open book to you.

He definitely knows how to listen, and when you ask him for help he'd drop whatever he was doing prior if you need him.

Knowing your struggles, he makes sure to be with you whenever possible. Of course he also tries to help you overcome your separation anxiety, but he's not sure what'd help you with that.

Whenever you show him something that reminds you that of him he can't help but feel a little flustered over how much you think of him and those things are the proof!

As corny as your letters can get, he finds them very sweet and keeps every last one of them. It usually motivates him whenever he's feeling a little down or when he misses you.

it’s funny because I’m reading back on the episodes and they were really solid + had some overall favourites in them, but I think my head has been in a “rapidly approaching the end” kind of mood, which has made it hard for me to go into watching episodes that are following the same patterns as before.

which is interesting, because obviously it’s syndication, and so that’s what the episodes are meant to be doing, I’m just being more and more subjective in how I engage with that format. I instinctively want these episodes (and the s11 ones) to give me character insights and building stakes, but of course it’s not going down like that 

(on that note I wonder if the backhalf of s11 will have some of that -- not the stakes so much, but big character moments that affect them throughout the rest of the season, or if it’s not until the last episode that these things occur)

I think my main (subconscious?) comparison while watching this is deep space nine -- I’m drawing lines across the two that aren’t at all intentional, but just come from how deeply these two shows have affected me, but of course one of the things that makes deep space nine special is that it resisted easy categorisation by making a series of arcs that continued throughout the whole show and continuously affected and changed the characters, even as it was technically meant to be in syndication (and airing things out of order was consequently a mess) 

watching MASH for the first time, what surprised me was that it threaded in long-term character arcs into the syndication format, with Margaret’s arc being the one that I think is the most obvious. 

so speaking of Margaret I think that arc culminated in “stars and stripes,” in season 8, which gave me one of my favourite interactions between any characters on the show (the final one with her and Hawkeye). 

In s9+10 she’s had “father’s day” and “the birthday girls” which both give us things (in particular was interesting to finally see her father and be like... “yeah, you’re exactly the kind of man I imagined... a dick” + whenever Potter especially stands up for Margaret I’m warm and fuzzy -- “birthday girls” sees a rare Klinger and Margaret bonding moment, and I just rewatched “aid station” way back in s3 in which he and Hawkeye both tell her she’s their favourite, so am glad they got this moment)

but I would argue, especially “the birthday girls” isn’t so much taking her character new places, so much as polishing up some things we already know + giving a few neat character interactions

beyond that she’s been far more of an ensemble member, and not in a way where she gets to have narratives in conjunction with others, except for in “give ’em hell, hawkeye,” in which she’s specifically in charge of the garden + speaks with the Korean kid who’s struggling 

In “that’s show biz” she fades a bit to the back after the first half, but it does have one of my favourite things about Margaret, which is her bonding with another woman (and me feeling some kinda gay way about it)

-- I’m also personally very fond of the dressing-down she gives BJ in “wheelers and dealers” -- she and BJ and Hawkeye don’t share as much space as during the hey-days of s7. (There’s also “oh, how we danced,” in s9 when she dances with BJ, but she’s not so involved with the plot beyond that, which is similar to her space in “wheelers and dealers” and generally how I’ve felt her character to exist in s10).

EDIT: actually as with so many others, one of my favourite Margaret moments in s10 came from “where there’s a will, there’s a war,” and it’s the scene where she and Hawkeye are laughing in the supply room. have talked a lot about how she and Hawkeye have one of my favourite dynamics as a particular kind of misfit finding one another, and that scene highlights it so well!!!

EDIT EDIT: I cannot BELIEVE I forgot her scream in “follies of the living” it’s one of the top ten Margaret moments of all time! I feel like that really contained some of the tensions I’ve been missing from her character in s9+10, and it didn’t need that much episode space!

what I’m getting at is that she’s not much of a plot-driver, either on her own or in coordination with one or a couple of other characters. She’s in the main ensemble, but she’s not getting to do much that tells us about how she feels or where she might be going next. there’s a little bit of plateauing going on in my opinion

lastly wanted to mention “sons and bowlers,” in which I felt kind of bad for her the whole way through, which was at odds with the intentions of the episode I feel. I think she deserved to be angrier at the way she was being treated in it, rather than “just” desperate for a chance to prove herself, and I think that was a good example of where I feel like I’m missing something from how she’s included this second-to-last season, in connection with what I was saying above (that is, as childish as it comes out, I want there to be some lasting deep character exploration to take me towards the end of the story. I think my expectations are unfairly higher, because I’m sad)

It also features this one sweater I have mixed feelings about, which she wears reeelatively often these days (I am going to figure out how often on this next watch I’m doing). On the one hand, it indicates a freer Margaret who isn’t so bound by military conventions in order to create her sense of self, on the other hand, I feel like it acts as a softening characteristic, similar to (more ds9 parallels) how Kira Nerys went from being a stompy butch to growing her hair out and wearing dresses in order to allegedly not alienate fans. 

so whenever I see it I feel a bit... suspicious. 

It’s a hard balance for her to pull off the abrasive, perfectionist a-student with a chip on her shoulder characteristics with the person who has softened, because she now trusts the people around her and doesn’t have to put up so much of a front all the time. And I imagine this is all so subjective, and back in “stars and stripes” we got some of the core of Margaret’s conflict and it relates very much to what I’m saying -- everything that she is is balanced precariously and constantly expected to perform in one way or another for men around her. In a lot of ways that performance relates to how an audience views her as well. She has a lot more to pull off than the other characters, and has from the get-go

It’s nice to think that maybe her character has let go of some of those expectations, but at the same time I feel like there’s so much more depth to get out of the questions and conflicts her character has, and I don’t think a looser sweater can solve them

i think there’s something to be said about paramore’s first release since 2017 being about consequences, perception, anxiety and language.

when hayley sings “this is why i don’t leave the house” she never directly elaborates on what this is—it’s very purposefully (i think) left open to interpretation so whoever is listening can insert their own this without having to elaborate to anyone else. hayley has her own this, zac has his own this, and taylor has his own this. they share a few this’ and some of them are completely unique to each band member. “you say the coast is clear, but you won’t catch me out” can resonate with anyone again depending on what their this is and what coast they need to be cleared to feel safe to exit their safe space. hayley also doesn’t nail down what people should do with their opinions—their language—but she does suggest that you can shove it, scream it, or keep it depending on what it is meaning: use discretion before you speak (something far too many westerners in particular never learn how to do even into their old age moving on).

this is why orbits around this very real anxiety of experiencing consequences for (insert your own reason the song is neutral in certain aspects for a reason) and being perceived. hayley is out minding her business near the water when suddenly she’s aware that she’s being filmed, zac is restless even in his “home” bc he is constantly surveyed, taylor is having a peaceful (?) reflective moment on the roof and then there’s a camera and some people there like. even in the “middle of nowhere” they can’t get away from the media. and the scenes where the camera is the only thing watching them and the people are gone are so fucking important because even having a device that can record them around without someone to control it is unsettling for all three of them. they feel like they always have to perform and be on for others.

“one step beyond your door, might as well have been a free fall” is straightforward as all living fuck but it still hits. when hayley falls out of her “home” (where she appears to live alone and even has a completely different hairstyle from her classic red in the rest of the video and “draws her lipstick wider than her mouth” fake happy enthusiasts are living their best lives) there is no one there to catch her. when the scene cuts to taylor and zac, they catch her not once but twice. whenever they’re around, they always make sure to help her up again. and when the “filmmakers” (the media) record zac and taylor catching hayley, they tell them to do it again, and the band kinda just stands there for a moment like “why?” hayley fell because she was struggling with something, zac and taylor helped her stand up again, and now the media wants a replay, they want a recap about something possibly extremely personal with more details. the first time the boys catch hayley, it’s a darker close shot. the second time, it’s a lighter distanced shot. depending on who’s watching, it could look like anything. this is why hayley doesn’t leave the house, kids.

I did give up buttttTTT somethig else happened. We, the whole class, came up with a plan to just not do it. These notes were for practical marks in the final examination. So we thought if the whole doesn't do it then the teacher won't be able to fail all of us. We tHOUGHT we could beat the system🤡. You were supposed to watch a movie. And you did for a while! But then your boyfriend decided he had enough of the movie, that he himself chose mind you, and layed face down on your chest.

You flinched at the sudden weight on you, but quickly wrapped your arm around his waist in case he wanted to leave. Too late now though, he should know the consequences of his actions. He's not leaving any time soon and you're making sure of that. You felt him leaning even more into you, finally fully relaxing into your touch. You brought your other hand into his hair and started playing with his hair. It was relaxing for both of you, but given how Taiga groaned when you stopped, it was far more relaxing for him than you. But could you blame him? He was laying in the arms of the most perfect boy, who supported im in literally everything, got along with his friends and didn’t mind his obsession with basketball. Hell, you even let him teach you how to play! So of course he’s gonna accept every bit of affection possible and especialy you playing with his hair. He would never admit it, but it made him melt everytime. Something about your soft hand going through his hair, playing with it and untangling any knots, sometimes tucking on it intentionally or not. It didn’t matter to him what you did with his hair, just the sense of closure and safety was enough for him. You made him weak in his knees, it was basically quaranteed that if he was standing right now he would have trouble standing. But even if he was to fall, you wouldn’t let that happen. You would grip your hand tighter around his waist, pull him closer to you and whisper to his ear.

God, he felt like a teenage girl thinking about her crush. But he does have a crush on you, so at least something checked out. He couldn’t help it, even when you two are in a relationship he still has a crush on you. He feels giddy everytime you look at him, can’t help but blush whenever you whisper a compliment in is ear or look at him intensely for more than 5 seconds. He wondered what you were thinking about when you did that.

    Fuck, he’s so pretty... The corners of your mouth turn up into a smile. You loved moments like this. Your pretty boy in your arms, smiling like he’s thinking about something out of this world. You wanted to hold him forever. No, not just hold him. You wanted to kiss him, laugh with him whenever you miss the basket, play with his hair, sleep next to him and wake up every morning next to him forever. You wanted him forever.

You were never the one to believe in soulmates or anything like that. But Kagami made you feel like you were made for each other. You both respected each other’s boundaries, got along with the other one’s closest friends and family and most importantly, loved each other like nothing else mattered. Because sometimes, especially in moments like this, it really did seem like nothing else did matter. Team Tokyo First Years Headcanons

(Ft. Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Gojo & Sukuna)

Gojo created a group chat with all three students to coordinate things. However, he never knows if Megumi reads the texts because he never says anything (he does), and all Yuji does is send memes, so basically that's its only function now.

Yuji and Nobara created a game: try to take a picture of Gojo with his blindfold off. He takes it off frequently, it's just impossible to catch an image of it. Surprisingly, Megumi of all people has gotten the closest. If you squint, you can see the baby blues.

This escalated into "who can take the ugliest picture of someone without them looking", after capturing an image of Yuji standing next to Gojo's desk with almost four chins. Nobara discovered she has many bad angles and Gojo discovered he's photogenic from ALL angles.

Yuji likes to use Nobara's ugly pictures as reaction images and memes. At first, Nobara beat him up whenever he did, but now as long as they don't leave the first-year chat she doesn't care. She'll even supply them if she's feeling silly.

Gojo started a prank war on accident and it shows no sign of stopping. It started because he enjoys Nobara's over the top reactions. When she found the LIVE snake in her bed (oh boy, everyone's soooo lucky she's good with reptiles), she immediately suspected this was Yuji's doing. She pranked him, he got her back, Megumi walked into a prank on accident, he got them back twice over, and now it just won't stop. Gojo was fully prepared to deal with the consequences, but he isn't complaining.

The First Year prank war is pretty well known around the school, and everyone's learned to stay away from anything that looks suspicious.

Gojo uses this to his advantage too; sometimes he'll pull pranks on the first and even second years just to watch them blame each other. He's even gone as far as pranking Principal Yaga hoping that he would blame the kids, but Yaga knows for a fact it's Gojo. He hasn't done anything about it though. This stresses Gojo.

Most of the time, when they eat out, each student pays for their meal. When Gojo's there he pays for all four of them, and if Yuji tries to use the "I don't have any money" excuse when Nobara decides to stop for a coffee, she'll buy him one too. She holds it against him, though.

If his kids are all craving a certain type of food (i.e. Chinese) Gojo will head out and pick it up and they'll all eat as a family.

Nobara proposed once a month they have a "spa" day. Surprisingly, the other two students agreed. She's allowed to give them manicures and pedicures (so long as she doesn't get carried away), trim and treat their hair, exfoliate their faces, and they help her re-dye her hair. Megumi is a good client, while Yuji gets bitched at a lot for squirming while getting his nails clipped and jerking when he gets his eyebrows plucked.

Yuji also proposed they have a movie night every Friday night. If they're busy, they'll move it to Saturday, or have it earlier in the day during the week. Sometimes the second years will join. Gojo is banned because he's basically seen every movie and always spoils the end. Everyone got mad at Yuji's request to use subtitles but gave up arguing with how loud Yuji chews.

They also have game nights, but they lost the pieces to most board games after Nobara threw them out the window, Megumi is the only one who knows how to play chess and Shogi, and Yuji fears the safety of his controllers after Megumi got dangerously close to beating Nobara in Smash. 

Yuji's room is the main hangout joint because of the electronics he owns. Literally, there's a whole ass common/living room for them to use. However, they go to Nobara's room for a spa day, as long as the boys are gone by sundown.

Gojo knows damn good and well his kids don't like each other in that way and would never have sex with each other, but he still feels the need to give them the talk ™. He's literally given each child a free box of condoms just in case. 

Gojo bought each student customized "if lost, please return to Jujutsu Tech" shirts. Yuji doesn't mind wearing his because it's just another hoodie to him, and Nobara doesn't mind hers because it's a crop top and it's cute. Megumi burned his in front of Gojo. 

Nobara takes the boys shopping a lot. Megumi is surprisingly good at picking out clothes that fit Nobara's physique and taste, and Yuji is there to hype her up when she walks out of the dressing room. He also isn't scared to tell her a dress doesn't look good on her, and she respects that.

Sometimes even Sukuna will pop out and give commentary. He gives really mixed signals, sometimes he tells her how she's not much to look at, sometimes he talks about the things he wants to do to that ass because of how good they look in those jeans. This results in Yuji getting slapped, Nobara yelling something like "Shut it, Fang Face!" And people staring at him funny because of it.

She also buys outfits for the boys and occasionally Gojo, because she's tired of hoodies and black. She was just as shocked as the rest when Megumi walked out in his outfit. He only wore it to shut her up, though, and hasn't worn it since.

No matter what they're doing, Yuji is ALWAYS the DJ. He has playlists for almost every occasion (spa day, sparring practice, car rides, game nights, even the times they just chill in the same room on their phones) and the only person that really complains is Sukuna, but only because he hates the Backstreet Boys.

Yuji bursts out in song a lot. No matter what he's doing, he'll just start singing. If they know it, Nobara and Gojo will join in too. Always ends in a giggle fit.

Sometimes Gojo's hand slips and boom! He has 18 dozen cookies instead of 4. He's been known to wrap the cookies up in nice tins and packages and leave them outside the kid's doors.

Gojo has also been known to cook meals for the kids and drop them off. This helps because Megumi is basically the only one who can actually cook. Yuji thinks instant ramen is okay for every meal, and Nobara burns food in a way it's still edible but you don't really want it.

The kids play wrestle, a lot. Yuji was scared to at first because the only one who really wants to fight is Nobara, but he learned quickly she can both take and deliver a punch just fine. She also isn't one of those girls that gets upset if there's an accidental grope, which is cool.

This is how the others discovered Megumi is ticklish. Yuji probably still has the scar and Nobara doesn't dare try to tickle him again.

Yuji fell asleep once and woke up to Sukuna's mouth on his cheek having a full-blown conversation with Nobara while she was reading a magazine. He swears they were gossiping about boys, but as soon as Yuji was awake enough to pay attention, Sukuna noticed and started bullying him. To this day Nobara still thinks she was talking to Yuji the whole time because she never noticed he fell asleep.

Yuji can fall asleep almost anywhere. Nobara draws on his face a lot. He's spent countless nights on Megumi's floor just because he's too lazy to move literally one room over.

Nobara has a habit of walking into the boys' rooms without knocking. Megumi is usually laying in bed on his phone or sitting at his desk, however, she's walked into Yuji doing some weird shit. Not gross shit, just... Concerning shit.

Once she walked in on him crying and didn't know what to do. She just kinda walked in and sat down with him until he stopped, occasionally rubbing his back. They didn't say a word until Yuji made a joke and Nobara continued with why she even came into his room, to begin with.

The three students are surprisingly supportive of each other like that, it's just kinda awkward and passive-aggressive at times. Sometimes they even confide in Gojo, and he takes it seriously, surprisingly.

Gojo has a Tik Tok account. He participates in every challenge, every dance, every trend, and apparently has a huge following. Yuji gets featured in the videos sometimes when he isn't recording, and he's mostly doing the stupid shit Gojo does, like doing backflips on building ledges.

While Tik Tok is Gojo's forte Yuji has done video game commentary on twitch and yt live. Megumi is quite popular on subreddits about urban legends and related folklore, and Nobara helps maintain blogs about current events, but... It's mostly celebrity gossip and new music.

Every Saturday is chore day and no one's allowed to do leisurely activities or leave until they're done. Rooms and hallways have to be vacuumed, swept, mopped, whatever. Gojo checks that the rooms aren't dirty. He doesn't mind clutter, he just hates wrappers and shit being left around. He especially pays attention to the cleanliness of the bathrooms for some reason. Megumi is good about cleaning his room throughout the week, Nobara usually just has clutter on her nightstand and dresser, and Yuji waits until the last minute to clean.

The first years used to do their laundry separately, but Nobara threw a temper tantrum when she witnessed Yuji just throw all of his clothes in the washer at once and simply turn it on. Now normally, she wouldn't help anyone get out of work, but she also likes things being done the right her way, so she does his laundry for him. Megumi got involved somehow and now they throw all of their clothes in the same basket and divide them by darks, colors, whites, and delicates. She refuses to let any of their overly- soiled clothes touch hers, so those usually get their own wash too. Each student folds and puts away their own clothes. 

Most arguments end with rock paper scissors. Pinkie promises are also sacred.

Gojo keeps a sticker board in the classroom. Whenever the kids do something good, they get a star. Whenever they do something bad, one gets taken away. When they get to five stickers they get a prize from the treasure box.

No one has gotten to five stars yet. This is good because there is no treasure box. Gojo is bullshitting everyone.

Yuji likes to steal Megumi's stickers because he thinks Megumi will not notice. He does every time.

Gojo has a stool in the corner of the classroom complete with a horribly cliche dunce cap he calls "the Naughty Corner" for when the kids "act up". Nobara ends up there because she's always on her phone, Megumi mouths off a lot and has days where he doesn't feel like doing work, and poor Yuji ends up in the naughty corner because Sukuna can't behave.

so for hobbies i draw/paint mostly but i also play guitar, read, cook and collect a lot of random stuff (like porcelain dolls, bottle caps, books, guitar picks, etc) so consequently my room is kinda cluttered 24/7 and even when i clean it its just always a mess lmao. Despite that in every other aspect I am very organized and can’t stand to see a place messy so I’ll randomly clean a lot (especially if I’m upset over something.) i love horror movies of all types, especially the older ones with terrible special effects. my love language is a mix between physical touch and acts of service, tho i get kinda disturbed whenever someone randomly hugs/touches me without a warning, i’m very jumpy.

Appearance wise i’m 5’5 with jet black hair (tho naturally i’m blonde) with cool grey eyes and tan skin, i’m supposed to wear glasses but I forget all the time; my eyesight is terrible and I often have to ask people to read something off to me.

usually i dress gothic but if im feeling lazy i’ll look more ,grundge’. I like to wear a lot of accessories and I do my make up every day if I have time, and i wear a niqab or a hijab most of the time, though I am a Buddhist (not a very good one, but i try.)

for personality i usually try and just keep quiet but i have problems with my temper, i have gotten physical with people at some points. mix that with not being able to read tone at all/being blunt and having a rbf most people dislike me off the bat or are slightly intimidated. When i get to know someone, however, i am very loud and enjoy messing around with my friends. My sense of humor is wildly childish lol. i have issues talking directly about my problems so usually I just joke about them and if anyone seriously asks about it I brush it off. I try to befriend most everyone cuz i feel terrible about how I come off to most people but I only have like 2 close friends.
