listen I enjoy occasionally dragging Bruce as much as the next girlie but the extent to which Bruce disowns Jason does genuinely feel ooc at times. And I know people say that a lot but does it make sense for the guy who never gave up on Harvey Dent to say some shit like this about his son?
Like be serious now Winnick
#Me who just dragged Bruce for saying this earlier: I lowkey donât think he would say thisđ§đžââď¸#I will say tho pretending Jason doesnât exist is a consistent way of how he deals with his feelings about him đ#like originally in the 80s Bruce got rid of every trace of Jason in the house after he died and Dick called him out for it#as I said before Bruce Wayne has son issues#Jason Todd#Bruce Wayne#Dc

Jasonâs little guy
you and Jason were in the hospital. With a 4 hour old baby boy who was tiny. Very tiny. In all seriousness he was lucky to be alive unlike you you wished you were dead welst expecting child birth for the first time. But yeah your little boy was an early baby and when I say early I mean you were only 32 weeks pregnant and had only recently told your families! This was probably the most stressful terrifying thing for not only you but Jason because your water didnât just break no no no. Jason needed backup in crime alley and you were the closest person so you put on your suit, red mast and went to kick some criminal ass. Jason was not happy about you being there but he needed the support so he didnât complain. Until one off the shooters must off notice you small but visible pregnant belly. So take a wild guess at weâre this idiot kicked you. Your stomach. To which you feel to the floor in shock and well according to Bruce the red stain all up his suit was ketchup. So thatâs how you ended up in the hospital. Yay (no). Jason had been waiting since the moment you both had talked about kids, holding a small mini him in his arms. But the odds were against him because well the kids check ups took about 1 hour to make sure he was okay and you needed to try Brest feed him which he wouldnât take. Back to the checkups, he also to Jasonâs horror had needed a injection around 1 inch long in his arm and thay just did it right there in front off him before carrying Jasonâs screaming baby away again!? He just wanted to hold his son so when they brought him in and handed him to you he immediately gestured that he wanted to hold his kid. So you handed him over showing Jason how to support his head and not to squish him. God you had never seen your boyfriend so happy in your life. He didnât say anything for about 10 minutes he just sat there staring at his son. Then around 3 doctors walked in. âUm miss L/n and mr Todd we believe your son may have some sort of genetic illnessâ one said walking over to a now very worried Jason with you terrified on the hospital bed. âAs you can see your son has a very bold streak of white and we noticed his eyes Are glow in the dark green.â The doctor said as your son opened his eye to reveal your E/c past on to him. âWhat?! His eyes were green we all saw it not E/c!â Just then you and Jason laughed a bit. âWhat why are you laughing this is a serious issue youâre son could be permanently sick!?â Another said a bit disgusted. Jason just laughed and pulled down the hood on his jacket to show his jet back hair and white steak âitâs just some genetic from meâ he said âand the eye thing is just how y/nâs eyes look in some lightâ Jason said holding your hand. âOh then you should be good to go this evening. Which you gladly did. But there was a change off place you went over to Wayne manor because you had realised you hadnât told anybody about your babyâs sudden birth. So when you walked in with a hospital bracelet and Jason holding what looked like a small pile of baby blankets Bruce was confused and concerned. âY/n! Jason! We didnât see you on the group patrol last night are you ok?â He asked standing up. âWell you could say thatâ Jason said walking over and handing over your son to him. âI told you I was good at keeping secretsâ you said walking over âhe is tiny!â

hiiii!!𩷠how are you?
I saw that you would like some requests in the #batmom so I have a fic idea
The idea is about each one of the batboys says to Batmom "your not my real mother" like angst/fluff and how would the bat mom react to it and handle it
Not my mother.
Pairing: Jason Todd x Batmom
Genre: Angst to fluff
Warnings: None (?), idk english that well đ
Synopsis: He loves you , or maybe not?
â
"Jason, this is crazy. How do you have all F's 3 weeks into the semester?"
A disappointed Batmom stood in front of 13(?) year old Jason Todd. She had a frown drawn on her face. Jason looked down, sad that he is disappointing you and angry at himself.
"Do you not do your homework when I tell you to?" She asks a little more assertive while reading all the negative comments the teachers had left.
"I don't know." He responded quietly.
"How do you NOT know?" She was getting heated and it was clear in her tone. "All I want for you is to do your best and you don't even listen to me."
"I do listen to you." He speaks louder, aggressiveness in his tone.
"Jason Peter Todd, do not get an attitude with me because you have consequences to your actions. Now what is going on with you sleeping in class and not paying attention?" Your hands were now on your hips.
"Why do you even care?" You using his middle name made him mad.
"I am trying my best to make sure my son is set up to do good in life." Your hands now on your hips, "Until these grades are fixed, you are to not go on patrol because that is probably the root of these issues."
Jason was at this point angry. You were scolding him like a little kid, on top of that what's Batman without his Robin.
You we're about to walk away but then,
"YOU'RE NOT MY REAL MOTHER, YOU PHONY, I CAN DO WHAT I WANT."
You stopped dead in your tracks. How do you respond to that? You just want what's best for your sweetest Jason.
You turned back to face him, his face was red probably from anger. You were pale, trying to process what your son had said.
"You know what..." You trailed off, "I'll just let your father handle this." You sat down the paper before walking off leaving Jason alone.
Which after he picks up the paper and looks at it.
Oh dear. What has he done?
It's obvious you were actually just caring for him. He was processing everything himself. He just got so angry, angry because he was sad that you were disappointed.
â
In your bedroom shared with your loving husband, you cried endlessly.
Have you failed as a mother? You just want your son to do his best. You didn't understand why he would say that. Maybe you just came off in the wrong way and it triggered him to go off on you.
Just as you were lost in your thoughts Bruce walked in.
"I was lookingâ" He stopped when he saw you crying and rushed to your side.
Dearest Bruce Wayne only had a soft spot for his wife and kids.
His arm wrapped around you tightly as your cried into his shoulder.
"What happened?" He asks.
"Well Jason brought home bad gâ" You stopped for a minute to gasp in between sobs, "Home bad grades and then I was scolding him but I didn't mean to come off wrong and I told him not patrol and then he said.."
"He said what?"
"He said I'm not his real mom!" You exclaimed then cried harder. "I know it's true but I love him so much and it still hurts."
"Y/N, darling." He grabs your chin with his fingers so you're looking his eyes. "You know he probably didn't mean it. He is probably still adjusting to us too. It still won't slide though, I'll talk to him, ok?"
You nod as he pecks your cheek.
â
You were knocked out cold. You probably fell asleep while crying. But your awaken when you feel a smaller body climb in the bed next to you in the bed.
You wanted to smile but you were still half asleep and upset. You roll over to face the figure.
"Hey Y/N." The voice spoke.
"Hi Jay." You responded softly, the tone of sadness in your voice even though you tried to cover it up. However, Jason Todd knew that his mother was upset and he frowned.
You two faced each other while laying there in silence. This lasted for about two minutes before he broke the silence.
"I'm sorry I said what I did."
"I know. It's ok."
"Then why are you do sad?" He questioned.
"Words hurt sometimes Jay and I know you didn't mean it but it still felt like a dagger to my heart."
He frowned even more. He hurt you. The woman who is his mother figure and cares so much for him.
"But I will always forgive you my little one. I'm sorry for being a bad mother." You apologized.
"You're not a bad mother, you're a perfect mother. I'm just a kid who didn't understand you were doing your job until after." He said.
"Jay, I just want you to do good, and always follow your dreams."
"I will mom, I promise." When he said mom you smiled.
He scooted closer to you and you wrapped your arms around him, holding him tight.
This was a mothers love, that is what made you his mom.
"I love you mom."
"I love you most, Jason."

Had a thought for a really dumb identity reveal fic (that I'll probably never finish but want to share lol) where a magician/god like figure decides to summon the Justice League into a pocket dimension and make them complete a series of tests. The caveat is that he takes their powers from them while doing it.
The issue the league runs into is his timing, and the fact that somehow instead of summoning Batman he summoned Brucie Wayne and his army of children from the middle of a Gala.
Bruce is gaslight, gatekeep, girlbossing for all of them. He keeps implying that the spell must have considered him a hero on par with them because of how much he donates. Any time someone tries to ask why the kids also showed up they start talking about how it must of been a proximity thing! They were taking a group photo!! Big group photo!! Every one must have just been touching or something?
It definitely ends in Brucie "accidentally" solving the puzzles with the league until the very end when they hit one he can't fake his way through. Just occasionally tripping into things like "oh!!! This opens a secret passage!!! Who would've expected that."
The kids are no help. They keep taking about how "familiar" Green Arrow looks. Oliver is sweating bullets about the Wayne's realizing who he is and they all know it.
I love this!! It reminds me of a fic idea I think I briefly talked about on here before. It was stolen from a Merlin BBC fic where a spirit wouldn't let their group pass until every single person in the group said every name they're known by, including titles, awards, monikers, names they call themselves, etc.
I always wanted someone to write a Justice League version of that fic, since the JL has tons of identity reveal stuff to divulge in that moment, even the heroes who don't have secret identities!
I'll list Bruce's just to start...
Bruce: Batman, Brucie, Bruce Wayne, CEO, Mr. Wayne, The Dark Knight, Gotham's Son, The Prince of Gotham, Father, Cousin, Son, The Demon's Successor, World's Greatest Detective, Master of Martial Arts, etc...
It's the kind of secret identity reveal he can't outsmart or weasel his way out of, which I love. And the other members don't quite get what a huge reveal all of those names is for him. He doesn't brag and protects his kids' existence like nothing else!

DCxDP Prophecy Universe Part 4
Part 3
Aaaah, Tim had missed undercover work! There was just something thrilling about becoming a whole new person by making a few small tweaks here and there. He had combed his hair in a side-part, carefully applied make-up to make his skin look paler and his eyes bigger and put on a pair of thick rimmed glasses. Worn sneakers, baggy jeans, a loose plaid flannel shirt with a hoodie tied around his waist hid his lean, muscular frame. A slight slouch and his old high-school backpack completed the look. Goodbye Tim Drake-Wayne, Gotham socialite. Hello Adam Taylor, college freshman.
Jason took one look at him and practically fell over laughing.
âOh my God, you look like a total dork! Would you like some braces to go with that?â he heckled, catching himself against the side of the car.
âIâll have you know that this is the height of broke college student chic,â Tim sniffed in mock offence, âItâs called âblending inâ Jason. Maybe you should try it!â He walked past his snickering brother to get in the passengerâs seat of the beat-up Ford they used for travelling incognito.
âNo thanks, Iâll leave the theatre performance to you,â Jason drawled, tossing the keys in one hand before getting behind the wheel. âIâll just hang back and keep an eye out in case things go tits up.â
âI donât even know why you insisted on coming along. Iâm just going to question a civilian!â
Jason gave him a Look before starting the engine. âA civilian raised by mad scientists. The way our lives work, weâll find her building Kryptonite powered robots in the janitorâs closet or something.â
âAnd the fact that sheâs a cute red-head has nothing to do with it?â Tim teased.
âNope!â
âLiar.â
The drive to Metropolis passed in a mix of mutual ribbing, arguing over radio stations and discussion of recent cases. They carefully avoided the elephant in the room - the reason for their current investigation. The sullen anger of their youngest brother, the quiet grief in Bruceâs eyes whenever he thought no one was watching and the mounting tension within the family. Tim doubted that this excursion would be all that fruitful, but he needed to get out and do something for the sake of his own sanity. The last thing he wanted was to watch Bruce emotionally implode over what may or may not be another dead son.
Getting onto the university campus was no problem. Tim had a fake student ID on him just in case, but it looked like he neednât have bothered. His hacking had revealed that Jasmine Fenton checked into the university library after her last class almost every day, so it was just a matter of biding his time. He sat at one of the carrel desks, idly flipping through the latest issue of Forbes. I wonder if Luthorâs new tech acquisition means heâs up to something? HmâŚ
âHeads up, target at your 10,â came Jasonâs murmur through Timâs earpiece. Tim turned another page then sat up and stretched, glancing around casually. He instantly recognized the red-head from his earlier research. Tall and light build, long hair held back by a head-band, wearing skinny jeans and a dark grey sweater. She made her way over to the row of desks, carrying a small stack of books and a pencil case. She walked past Tim, only sparing him a glance and eventually settled down at the table farthest from the entrance and away from the other students. Perfect.
Tim got up and returned his magazine to the periodicals section before meandering over to Jasmineâs desk. He put on his best impression of a nervous smile. Showtime.
âHey, is this seat taken?â
She only glanced up from her work briefly then went right back to taking notes. âNo, knock yourself out,â she said in a bored tone.
Tim pulled out the chair next to hers and turned it slightly to face her. He sat down and cleared his throat.
âHi, sorry to bother you. Iâm Adam. Adam Taylor,â he lied, offering his hand to her. She gave him a tight, polite smile and shook hands with him.
âJazz Fenton,â Her tone was light, but her body language screamed âplease go awayâ. Tim filed the nickname away for later, âLook, itâs really nice to meet you but I have this project I need to work on, soâŚâ
Ah, she probably thinks Iâm trying to hit on her, Tim thought.
âOh, I understand completely! I donât wanna take up too much of your time, I just⌠I was just wondering if you could tell me about⌠you know,â he whispered with affected hesitation, â...ghosts.â
The smile dropped from her face and her gaze sharpened. âExcuse me?â
âSorry! Itâs just⌠your parents run Fenton Works, right? The ecto-biologists?â Tim rushed out, âI just wanted to hear your opinion on their workâŚâ he trailed off at the look of tightly controlled anger on her face. She turned and scanned the room around them.
âAlright. Whereâs the camera?â
Tim was caught completely wrong footed. Was she onto them?
âCamera? What camera?â he hedged. She slammed her notebook shut and glared at him.
âI get it. Lets pretend to interview the girl with the crazy ghost hunter parents and have a good laugh at her on social media later. Very funny, har har,â Jazz stuffed her pen back in its case with sharp movements, âWell I have better things to do than make you TikTok famous, so if youâll excuse me,â she gathered up her books and stood.
Tim winced. He really needed to salvage this situation and quickly. He held up his hands in a placating gesture.
âIâm not filming you, honest! I just read some of your parentsâ papers and wanted a second opinion on their research! They, ah⌠they seem pretty biased,â he said apologetically.
Jazz narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously. âWhy are you researching ghosts, then?â
The best lies are built on truth.
âBecauseâŚâ Tim took a deep breath, âI think my brother might be one,â he forced out, then swallowed hard and looked away.
âOh,â the anger had drained from her voice, âIâm sorry for your loss.â
Tim glanced at her as she sat back down. âThanks,â he croaked and blinked away fake tears. They sat in silence for a few minutes.
âAdam, what makes you think your brother might have come back as a ghost?â Jazz asked gently.
Tim collected himself for a moment, thinking about how to score the most sympathy points.
âItâs hard to explain. My younger brother⌠he saw something strange and now my whole family is freaking out. Dad is putting on a brave face but I can tell this is eating him up inside but he refuses to talk about it. I just⌠I need to know if thereâs a scientific explanation to all this. I need to make sense of this whole mess!â he looked up at her through his lashes with his best puppy-dog expression, âPlease, can you help me?â
Tim could practically hear her heart melting.
âAnd the Oscar goes to⌠Timbird!â Jason teased over the comms.
âAlright. But not here,â Jazz said, standing up again, âThis is gonna take some time. And diagrams.â
Oh goodie.

Hiii, I don't really know if you made a post about this or not, but can I ask what you think of damian and dick's relationship? you have a really deep insight on the bat family's relationship, so I'm curious on how you would describe those two
Damian and Dick are probably the most important to each other in the family with the other being each other's most favorite person in the world. Dick is Damian's father, brother, mentor, and best friend. Actually it's reflective of Dick's relationship with Bruce but none of the toxic expectations and brute force of misplaced responsibilities.
Dick is loving and understanding of Damian and he's able to read him before Damian can even express his words.
For example, when the Black Lantern things open the caskets of Martha and Thomas Wayne, Dick asks Damian to help him wrap up the bodies but-
Blackest Night: Batman Issue #1
He's able to anticipate and take care of Damian before Damian can even tell him what he's thinking. That's the level of love and understanding Dick has of him.
Damian is insanely protective over Dick. When Deadman, Boston Brand, jumps into Dick, Damian gets super protective of his Batman.
Blackest Night: Batman Issue #1
Also Dick CANNOT STAND IT when someone hurts or insults Damian.
Blackest Night: Batman Issue #1
Honestly I think Dick loves Damian's sass. Even when he says he wants to kill people Dick's just like, "not today another day kiddo" which is just super heartwarming when you hear their banter.
Anyways, Dick and Damian have the funniest back and forth!
Batman and Robin (2009) Issue #21
Damian values each and every word of Dick's.
Batman: Streets of Gotham Issue #1
While Damian respects Batman for what he created and wants to be appreciated as his son, Damian just loves Dick for who he is. I know some people think Bruce may be jealous of Dick and Damian's relationship, and while it's possible, I think Bruce is just super proud and happy. His greatest joy in life comes from Dick succeeding and he would have found it weird if Dick and Damian didn't get along because he inherently believes that Dick is the peak of goodness.
What I love most about Dick and Damian is that Damian is always shown as a loveable kid when he's with Dick. In the Batman and Robin (2011) comics with Bruce and Damian vs the Batman and Robin (2009) comics with Dick and Damian, Damian is much softer. Part of this comes from Bruce's refusal to treat him as robin originally, but their interactions are more stilted than the easy-going and funny ones between Damian and his big brother. But here's where it gets interesting. The writers write the characters in terms of how they would react to each other. What perception they would have of each other. So subconsciously the writers are creating the characters based on how they look at each other - meaning, Dick only sees Damian's good sides and finds his darker ones humorous whereas Bruce sees more of Damian's darker sides and has to rework himself to acknowledge Damian's growth.
I find that so fascinating how a character's personality in accordance with their relationships feeds back into the writer's writing rather than the writer influencing the relationships.
The most Dick has said about Damian willing to kill criminals is-
Batman: Streets of Gotham Issue #3
Another reason why Damian values Dick aside from being on the receiving end of his unconditional love is that Dick treats Damian like an equal. Dick doesn't command Damian to stay at his side at all times, he send Damian to do one task while he finishes up the other half. This indicates the amount of trust and faith he has in Robin's abilities and Damian in turn respects that.
Something that needs to be brought to attention is that just as much as Dick stops Damian from killing people, he is also his number one aiding and abetting partner.
Nightwing (2016) Issue #1
I LOVE THE MEAN LITTLE GRIN ON HIS FACE!!
My favorite part is Dick makes time for Damian just to have fun. He's a mentor and a father, but he's also the best brother someone could ask for.
Nightwing (2016) Issue #4
Honestly Gotham War Issue #138 was so confusing to me because there's just no way Damian would pander mindlessly to receive Bruce's acceptance. He literally broke from Batman to become his own person - he ran away - and suddenly he's back and begging for Bruce's love?? Even fighting over Dick is fine but the lack of connection between them?
Damian is single handedly the most important person in the world to Dick.
Damian is Dick's son.
Robin (2021) Issue #5
I find their relationship special because this is the only in his entire time life that Dick has ever given away a family momento of his own volition first. His parents and his background mean the utmost to him; he cradles the memories with longing and love. But inspite all this, he's giving away the last piece of family history. No, giving away isn't the right word. He's passing down his legacy. Damian is his son, he's literally inheriting the Grayson legacy in the way that only Dick can give. Bruce gave the kids Dick's mantle but he cannot give any of them Dick's history but Dick gave that to Damian. That's beautiful.
He straight up says it too
Nighwing (2016) Issue #20
"When your dad came back, there was a moment I thought it would be better for you if you stayed with me. As my partner. As my..." "Really?" "Yeah."
DC SAID DICK AND DAMIAN FATHER AND SON RIGHTS AS CLOSE AS THEY COULD WITHOUT TAKING AWAY BRUCE'S BLOOD CLAIM.
Damian considers Dick his father.
Nighwing (2016) Issue #18
"Finding a new life. Considering a child to replace me. I don't know what I will be...alone. I need you here, Richard."
"Considering a child to replace me. "
Damian is heartbroken at the idea that Dick will have a kid and move on.
He loves Dick so much he goes all the way to Bludhaven just because he loves and misses him after Bruce took over as Batman.
Nighwing (2016) Issue #20
Batman Incorporated (2012) Issue #8
"Are you with me Nightwing? The odds are completely against us."
"When did we ever let something like that get in the way? Robin the boy wonder, Damian."
Batman Incorporated (2012) Issue #8
"So far I'd say you've been my favorite partner. We were the best, Richard. Not matter what anyone thinks."
Robin (2021) Issue #5
Nightwing (2016) Issue #20
The world can stand against Damian but Dick will always be on his side.
Which is a problem in recent DC works because
Dick & Damian:
og panels Batman & Robin (2009) Issue #17

Jason is tragic not because he died, because let's be honest every character dies at least once it's practically a right of passage. No it's not that he died or even that after coming back he felt that his life had no impact it ment nothing, no it's the fact that this child who spent his whole life taking care of and managing the emotions of the adults in his life, who always tried to keep a smile on his face for his parents sake who let the adults in his life project what they wanted to on to him Who spent so long being the good kid the happy robin still felt that it didn't matter the he hadn't mattered.
Jason was good when his mother invited men over and sent him on errands to keep him out of the house, jason was good when he became the sole provider for both his mother and him, jason was good when he watched his mother died, jason was good when Bruce adopted him as a substitute for the son who left, jason was good when he heard Bruce and Dick fighting down the hall and pretended he didn't, jason was good when he learned to be robin, jason was good when he prioritized school over the mission, jason was good when he smiled and hugged batman, jason was good when he made the batman smirk, jason was good when he defended the citizens of gotham, jason was good for so long. For so long he was told to chose the high road and he did (with some notable exceptions-) for other people.
And then he wasn't good he got himself benched, and he wandered back to the narrows, he found out the woman who raised him was not the one who have birth to him and in the interest of learing more about himself he used those detective skills he learned as Robin to find his bio mom, he tried to protect her from the Joker and in return she sold him out and took a smoke break while listening to the sounds of laughter and a crowbar sattering bone, and still after that he tried to be good he tried to still save her, ignoring his own pain he dragged his broken and battered body over to untie her and he helped her to the door as he himself struggled to stay upright and then... it was locked. He failed to protect her and now he was gonna die. The building collapsed around him and he could hear Batman calling out but he couldn't respond and he died.
Then he wakes up 6 feet under and has to claw his way back to the surface, and upon eventually regaining most of himself he returns to gotham to find it unchanged. He spent his whole life being good for the sake and for the benefit of the adults in his life and even then despite everything even in his death they didn't change nothing changed Joker is still breaking out of Arkham on a bi-weekly basis, Batman is still doing the same things, and Bruce put a new kid in the robin suit and no doubt started pushing his issues on the kid like he did with both jason and dick. Jason was replaced both as Robin and in the Wayne family and everyone moved on like he was never there to begin with his life had so little impact ment so little to the people who were his whole world that the moment he was no longer right up in their faces the forgot about him.
And after being so good for so long he finally said fuck it. He said fine I'll do it myself and started cleaning up the streets his way without batman's rules and you know what? It was working. And that just reiterated in his mind that Bruce could have avenged him if he really wanted to but he didn't.
Do do you guys understand why this little shit consumes my brain yet?? Arararara
Also large parts of this are headcannon because depending on what comics you read the are several different interpretations of Jason as Robin (as well and the other characters) but this is how I like to read him because frankly it doesn't really matter if he was the happy robin or the aggressive robin because either way he died came back and is now the red hood but I personally find this read far more interesting than "he was volatile before and the only thing that stopped him from killing was batman and now that he doesn't have someone telling him not to he became the red hood because that who he always was deep down" but that's just me if you like that interpretation as it's a fairly common take in comics post-under the red hood but it's just not for me. Now do I have thoughts on his repressed rage issues and how they are not longer uh- yk repressed rage issues and how it parallels Dick (because boy howdy do i have thoughts on Richard Grayson-) absolutely i do but this post is already way to long so we aren't gonna get into that anyway like I said this is just how I chose to read Jason because I personally find it a more compelling story.

A Phone Call from Jail - Kylar Got his Ass Beat Again
Wayne Manor - Study - Night
The dim light of the study casted long shadows across the room. Bruce Wayne stood alone, gazing out the window, mentally preparing for his nightly patrol as Batman. The tranquility was quickly interrupted by his cell phone ringing.
Bruce (furrowing his brows): And just like that⌠the moment is ruined.
Feeling a sense of unease, he answered the phone and was greeted by an automated female voice.
Automated voice: This is the Gotham City Jail. You have a collect call fromâ
The voice cut off as a familiar one interrupted, laced with guilt.
Jason (on the other end of the line): Um, Jason Todd.
Bruce's brows furrowed in confusion. Jason had gone six months without getting arrested and had sworn he would try to avoid ending up in Gotham Jail. He had to pay five hundred dollars for it, but still.
Automated voice: Do you accept the charges?
Bruce (irritated): Do I accept the charges? What the hell? Is this a joke?
Jason (shouting): Say yes Bruce! It's your son!
Bruce stared at the phone, insulted that he was being yelled at when he had to go out to patrol as Batman in an hour. He rolled his eyes believing his son's claims.
Bruce (annoyed): Yes, I accept the charges. Jason, explain.
Jason: Bruce⌠um, loving father of mine, um... funny story⌠me and Dick kind of ended up in jail as you heard and it's not a big deal what we were arrested for. Can you, uh⌠come get us and bring⌠bail money?
Bruce (concerned): Why do you need me to pick you up from jail? How did you both get arrested? Are you in your suits?
Jason (angry): We're not in our suits, you dumbass! The... business suits are at home, okay? When can you get here?
Bruce pulled the phone away, slightly irritated.
Bruce (aggravated): A simple no would have sufficed. Before I drive down to jail, start explaining why you and Dick are there.
Thereâs a pause, and Bruce can almost hear Jason debating with himself.
Bruce (demanding parent voice): I'm not leaving until you explain why you got arrested. Tick tock, detective.
Jason groaned knowing Bruce wasn't kidding around.
Jason: Well⌠long story short, Tim was dealing with this asshole homophobe at work. I talked him⌠for the sake of this recorded call, just know I âtalkedâ to him. He left Tim alone for a few days, but I guess he has a screw loose and decided to confront Tim while he was out to dinner with us. The guy was calling him a bunch of awful namesâsaying his reputation was ruined at work because people found out he was the one who left a slur keyed into Tim's car and a lot of words even I wouldnât sayâand then he ended it by calling Tim a dirty⌠bundle of sticks. Yeah.
Before Bruce could respond, the phone was wrestled away and another voice entered the call.
Dick (enraged): He called him a slur, that slur, so we beat his ass accordingly!
Jason jumped back in, a hint of admiration in his tone.
Jason: I will just take the phone back. What he said was true and man we... we kind of lost it. Surprisingly, Dick did the most damage.
Dick (in the background): This is stupid! How come we get arrested for doing a civic duty?
Jason: Would you sit down and breathe or something? Christ.
Silence fell as Bruce processed everything he had learned, his hands clenching as anger and worry swirled inside him. He was unaware that any of this was happening, but he knew how Tim liked to downplay issues, even when cases like this were anything but trivial.
Jason (confused by the long silence): Bruce⌠you there?
Taking a deep breath, Bruce spoke, unable to hide his irritated but steady voice.
Bruce: Just counting to ten so I can calm down. Why didn't Tim tell me any of this?
Jason: He... he didn't want to make the workers think he was running to his father for help. I don't get it, but you know how Tim is. Don't tell him I said this either, but it actually has been affecting him. A lot.
Bruce (struggling to keep his voice steady): I will... reassure him I'm here to help later tonight, thank you telling me this. Last question what was the worker's name?
Jason (disgust in his voice): Kylar.
Bruce felt a tightening in his chest hearing that name. Kylar has been hired on and Bruce saw him as one of the weaker workers, and now he had a better reason to fire him.
Bruce: Hn, that guy? I never liked him. Heâs fired. Iâll make sure heâs personally escorted out of the building, and if he tries to harm Timâ
Jason (reminding his father): This is a recorded line.
Bruce (exhaling to calm himself): Right. Iâll be there in fifteen minutes.
Jason (a hint of relief): Cool.
With the call ended, Bruce slipped the phone back into his pocket, considering the whirlwind of emotions stirred by the conversation. As he stood there, reflecting on his sonsâ reckless yet fierce protectiveness, he felt a mix of pride and frustration. The loyalty they displayed, despite their complicated pasts, only deepened his care for them.
With determination, Bruce left his study, knowing that night would be about more than just bailing his sons out of jail. It would be about setting boundaries and ensuring Tim felt safe at work.
Stepping outside, the cool night air rushed to greet him. Gotham sprawled across the horizonâa city of shadows and complexities. As both a vigilante and a father, he had to tread carefully.
His stride quickened, fueled by a protective instinct. The Batfamily always found trouble, but he would fiercely defend them, no matter what.

Uni is over for the year and in just under 2 weeks I'm going into surgery and won't have anything to do while I recover so dc fandom send me a sign on which superbat/batman fic I should work on first:
Exes-to-lovers fic where bruce and clark dated for a few months while Bruce was on his Batman Training Adventure and it kinda fucked both of them up a lot
wlw superwonderbat because I'm Gay, poly and trans ft. fem!bruce's funky relationship with the concept of gender and motherhood, transfem!Diana and lesbian!clark
AU where post superfriends double date (you know. That Comic Issue that rewired my brain), Lois and Selina finally discuss the elephant in the room: their boys are in love and all four of them should maybe date about it. (ft. lois and selina catching feelings - it turns into a whole beautiful mess)
Bruce has a symbiote because I rewatched Venom and got brainworms ft my beloved symbiote oc Vengeance who is Trying Its Best to figure out this whole "no killing" thing Bruce has going on
Fic snippets under the cut:
Exes to lovers superbat:
Bruce looked behind him and watched a wall of frothy brown water hit the main road, rushing towards them at dizzying speeds. âCome on,â he muttered through gritted teeth. The truck wasn't moving fast enough to outrun the wave. âCome on! âFaster!â someone yelled in Mandarin. In English, someone else started to pray. The water was almost on them. Bruce turned back to face the front and locked eyes with Jia, clutching her sick son to her chest. Her eyes blazed with a desperate kind of defiance, like she was daring the flood to touch them. If Bruce hadn't been watching her so intently, he would have missed it, the way her face slackened in shock in the split second before impact. Then, a massive force hit the truck and the world turned upside-down. People screamed, the road disappeared. The storming sky wheeled above him and Bruce slammed his eyes shut, his whole body bracing for the second where the truck hit the ground again or was swept up in the tide- -But it never came. A much, much gentler thud than he expected rocked the truck, and the world stopped spinning. The noise of the flash flood was suddenly much farther away than it should be. âHoly fuck,â one of the Americans swore. Bruce opened his eyes. Holy fuck was right. They were fifty metres up the mountainside on one of the shallower slopes that overlooked the village. The rampaging water rushed by below them, sweeping down the road with formidable force, but for now, they were, inexplicably, safe.
wlw superwonderbat (ft. Talia and Dami):
âBeloved,â Talia said again. âYou need to let me explain.â Bryce sucked in a surprised breath, her expression flattening into a blank mask. The boy watched her with huge green eyes under a pair of strong brows. Talia's eyes. Raâs eyes. Thomas Wayneâs brows. âTalia,â Bryce said, flat with disguised urgency. âWho is the boy?â Talia took the boy's hand. âHe's your son.â A stone was lodged in Bryce's throat, an old grief she had learned to breathe past swelling to choke her once again. âMy son-â her voice cracked and distorted through the modulator. She tried again. âMy son died before he was ever born. I-â she felt Dick step up to her shoulder and press his arm into hers, a grounding touch. âI lost him. You were there.â âWe were wrong,â Talia said, her voice hard, furious. âYou didn't lose him. My father took him from you.â âBatman,â Dick said, taking Bryceâs hand. âWhat's she talking about?â Bryce's eyes landed on the little boy and once there, she couldn't tear them away again. Ra's nose. Martha's chin. âTalia,â she said, still not looking away. âIf this is a trick, a lie, something other than what you claim it to be, tell me now or I will make you regret we ever met.â âI am telling the truth, my love,â Talia replied. âI swear it.â It was not a guarantee. Talia was an excellent liar.Â
Brulina/Clois ot4 shenanigans:
âShall we?â Bruce asked the Kents with his most charming smile. They settled at the table, Bruce at Selina's side, Lois in front of her. There was a long minute of painfully awkward silence. Selina watched Clark open his mouth to speak several times before clearing his throat and looking down as if he was studying the wood grain of the table through the tablecloth. Bruce was watching his best friend with growing barely disguised panic. Selina met Lois's eyes across the table and they both promptly dissolved into giggles. âOh my god,â Lois gasped. âThis is ridiculous.â Bruce was staring at them with wide eyes. Clark's shoulders were creeping towards his ears. âI think your husband is having kittens,â Selina agreed, ignoring her fiancĂŠ, smothering more laughter behind her hands. âI'm right here,â Clark protested, startled out of his staring contest with the table by the sound of their laughter. âClark, sweetie,â Lois laughed. Selina watched her take her husband's hand, her wedding ring glinting under the fairy lights. âYou can relax, it's okay.â Selina met Lois's eyes again and flicked them behind her towards the bar. Lois nodded. âOkay, boys,â Selina said. âLois and I are going to get us something a little stronger than Chardonnay to drink while we wait for our dinner.â She stood and poured herself over Bruce's broad shoulders, placing a kiss on his cheek, which he returned with a smile, small, barely a flicker, but that's how she knew it was genuine. Selina winked at Clark. âIf you're stuck for conversation topics, you can always tell darling Bruce here how handsome he is,â she suggested, then added in a conspiratorial whisper, âhe picked this outfit just for you, after all.â Then, she stood, hooked her arm through Lois's and they sauntered towards the bar.
Venom AU:
According to the Gotham Gazette, Bruce Wayne had returned from his travels abroad with an obscure but prestigious business degree, a hundred extra pounds of muscle, and an interest in hunting. To reflect this, the young Wayne heir claimed his place as CEO of his late father's company, immediately made a name for himself among the rich and single socialites up and down the Eastern Seaboard, and acquired all the necessary permits and fencing to host a small herd of deer on his ancestral property for his personal leisure. Technically, those last two things were perfectly true. What the Gotham Gazette didn't know was that Bruce wasn't the one who liked to hunt. Nor did he hunt with a gun. Bruce wasn't a hunter - not of that kind, anyway. He was simply playing host to a rather unusual predator. Silent as the night, the creature stalked through the boughs of the trees. The leaves barely rustled, despite the creature's weight, Bruce's intensive training telling it exactly where to step and how to time its movements to mask any inevitable sounds as a stray gust of wind. They found the herd easily, the creature's enhanced senses unerringly tracking their prey through the dense woodland. Most of the herd was asleep at this hour, a few snuffling sleepily through the undergrowth. The creature crouched on a branch above a sleeping doe and licked its teeth with a long, cylindrical prehensile tongue. A wide smile split the black tar-like face bristling with dagger sized teeth. An oozing black tendril formed from one of the creature's clawed hands and descended upon the sleeping herd below. Quickly, Bruce projected into their shared mindspace. âYOU'RE NO FUN,â the creature grumbled, and lunged.

I adore your batman stuff very much. I recently read the Wayne Family Adventures, and now I really want to read some more. Do you have recommendations on comic lines to follow?
Hi! I'm glad you're having fun with getting into comics and enjoying the posts around here, it's always nice to have new blood (or returning blood, in my case)! <3 I would give a gentle caution in that Wayne Family Adventures is sort of in a class of its own in a lot of ways, the characterization is much softer and fluffier, while the mainline comics are darker and messier, the characters are definitely not always as nice as they are as in WFA. That's no shade on either of them, just that I want to give a quick warning that if you're stepping from one to the other, the culture shock can sometimes be more than you're expecting. (And also keep in mind that comics are a shifting landscape, there's no one "true" version of many of the landmark moments of characters' lives, you'll see events often retold, you'll see comics that later get retconned, you'll see comics that are in different continuities/set before or after a universe-wide reboot, etc. Don't worry about it, just recognize that you're reading a story to enjoy that story, not as Hard Continuity!) That said, some of the lighter comics that I think would be fun if you're looking to come over from WFA are:
Li'l Gotham is a cute parody series that's super adorable, has some lovely art, and is nice little self-contained stories that are humorous. It's not in mainline continuity and it's even softer than WFA, but it's deeply charming and it's a fun, quick read.
Super Sons (2017) by Peter Tomasi is in mainline continuity and it's focused on Damian Wayne and Jonathan Kent becoming friends, bickering all the while, and getting into hijinks. It tends to lean more humorous and cute, so it's a nice stepping stone up to regular comics.
Robin and Batman (2022) by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen is a good litmus test for whether you might like regular comics--it's a short 3-issue mini-series focused on Dick's early days as Robin and the complicated, thorny relationship he has with Bruce about it. It's one of my favorite, it balances what a terrible gremlin he was with what a little angel he was and the emotional beats are painful in the best way.
Robin: Year One (2000) and Batgirl: Year One (2003) by Scott Beatty/Chuck Dixon and Marcos MartĂn/Javier Pulido are good places to start for both characters, and hold up okay considering their age. The art is a bit stylized in a way I really like, it lends it a charming old-fashioned vibe while still being pretty to look at, and there's some solid character moments in both.
Nightwing (2016) by various (starts with Tim Seeley, but it's been several authors by now) is one of my go-to recs, I think it's a great jumping on point, has a lot of really nice art, and often tells fun stories, as Dick has some of the best connections to various other characters in the universe.
Nightwing (2016) by Tom Taylor starts with issue #78 and is a great jumping-on point and Taylor's writing is just very light-hearted, action-packed, quippy, and fun. Starting here saves you from having to slog through some of the worse arcs of Dick's series, you get Bruno Redondo's fantastic art, and you can feel the affection for the character, the author and artist love this character and want to make him very cool, as well as they love his relationships with other characters, so you get good Bruce guest appearances, Babs appearances, Damian appearances, Wally appearances, Jon appearances, etc.
Robins: Being Robin by Tim Seeley and Baldemar Rivas was a fun self-contained mini-series that had all the Robins working together and I don't think it should be taken super seriously as a case story, but it had some quality banter, some hilarious moments, and a great look at these chaotic gremlins all shoved into a mini-van together to go solve a case.
Batgirls (2022) by Conrad Michael W./Becky Cloonan and Jorge Corona is focused on Babs, Cass, and Steph as a trio and being adorable together, with some humorous moments, cool art, and fun Batfam moments. It's nice that they get the spotlight and the chance to shine (it's their book, so they get the majority of the cool moments) and it's not super-long and you can jump right in.
Batman: The Knight by Chip Zdarsky and Carmine Di Giandomenico is a "Bruce travels the world to learn the skills he needs to become Batman" and I'm really in love with the way Zdarsky writes a Bruce who is deeply complicated, messy, coming from a place of loving deeply, but also this man has twenty seven different flavors of fucked up trauma going on in that hell brain of his. Zdarsky's current run on the main Batman title has been my jam, but that's a bit of a darker leap than this one, and I think this one is a great way to get to know Bruce Wayne as a character.
Batman: Urban Legends volume 5 has a story called "The Murder Club" that is basically "Thomas and Martha Wayne are time traveled into the future and see what's become of their son, they're not thrilled about it, but come around when they see the people that love him so deeply--primarily Dick, Damian, and Alfred." and was an absolute BANGER for me for feelings, gorgeous art, and some great character moments.
Batman/Superman: World's Finest (2022) by Mark Waid and Dan Mora is an absolute knock-out, it's Bruce and Clark in their early days of their friendship, where Waid is one of the best writers in the industry for how fun his stories are but also how well he knows the characters, Mora's art is often THE portrayal I think of when I think of the characters, and there's a ton of bonus guest appearances from various characters across DC's universe. Also, I am biased, Dick tags along a lot, as he's still Robin at this point in time, and it's a great dynamic between the three of them.
Batman: One Bad Day: Mr. Freeze by Gerry Duggan and Matteo Scalera was easily the standout of the "One Bad Day" stories for me, it's set in the early days of Bruce & Dick as Batman & Robin and it has ADORABLE sunshine gremlin baby Dick Grayson, a genuinely touching story about Mr. Freeze and his wife, and some beautiful art.
Year One: Batman/Scarecrow (2005) by Bruce Jones and Sean Murphy is a fun look at the early days of Scarecrow, but also has absolutely banger baby Dick Grayson content, there's a scene where Bruce literally just grabs him by the scruff of the neck to haul him out of the way of a crowd about to stampede and it's the funniest thing because that 12 year old could destroy your face with his fists but also Bruce can literally pick him up one-handed. There's some great banter in there and it's just a super fun dynamic.
As you make your way through this list, keep the author/artist and year listings in mind, as often times there are multiple series under the same title and some are more relevant to what you're looking for right now than others. Like, there have been three different volumes of "World's Finest", but I want to direct you specifically to the 2022 version because I think that'll work better for you. Similarly, Nightwing 1996 is one of my faves, but I think the 2016 version will work better at drawing you in right now. This is definitely biased in favor of my faves, but I honestly think they work for good jumping on points for someone new to comics and who's coming from WFA and might not want to get into the messier stuff of the mainline comics right away. Hopefully, you'll enjoy these and anyone else who wants to transition from WFA to reading mainline continuity comics, feel free to join us! Yeah, comics fandom can be a bit of a pill sometimes, but genuinely there's a lot of really fun moments to love and the characters are so much more fun when you're reading their stories with all the history and depth behind them!

Danny glanced at his husband who just gave him that annoyed, displeased look. âObviously, heâs not very happy about that,â Danny said with a grin before he looked back at his new step children. âYa see, after being around for as long as I have, things such as life and death donât matter as much. Moonlight here doesnât fully understand that. He is still in that phase in his mortality where he believes that all life is sacred regardless of what he has done.â
âSo⌠since youâre my new step dad, would you be mad at me if I killed the Joker?â Jason asked slowly, it was worth a shot at least.
Danny shrugged. âI donât see why I would be. Itâs very healthy for murder victims to avenge their murders,â Danny said with a shrug. âIf I had been murdered when I died, I would have wanted to avenge my death as well.â
âSo⌠I can?â Jason clarified.Â
âSure. Iâll help you if you want,â Danny offered, a happy smile on his face. This would be perfect! Bruce had been so worried that Jason would be the one to be less likely to accept Danny had his new step father! This would be a great way to bond with his new stepson.Â
âOh my god, youâre the best dad ever,â Jason exclaimed. He looked at Bruce and gave him the most withering, annoyed look he could. âThatâs the kind of attitude a father should have when their murdered son wants to avenge their murder.â
âShut it, Jason,â Bruce said, crossing his arms over his chest in annoyance.Â
âI am just saying life and death really does not mean that much. Besides, once Joker is in my realm, he is subject to whatever I would like to do to him,â Danny said with a wave of his hand.
Jason grinned and looked at his siblings. âI dunno about you guys but I approve,â he said and fell onto a couch, crossing his arms over his chest as he gave his new step father an appraising look.Â
âA father who approves of murder? I think that I am okay with this new change,â Damian stated before he looked Danny up and down. âI will not call you dad.â
Danny grinned. âWhat do you want to call me then?â
Damian let out a hum as he thought about this. He was more than okay with his father getting married and by the display of power that this Danny has shown, he was more than worthy of his fatherâs time. Not only that but Danny was more than okay with murder if it proved to be necessary. Not only that but he was a king of an entire realm and loved his father. He saw no true issue with this union. âStep-Father,â he decided.Â
Danny gave the youngest Wayne an excited smile. âIâll take it!â He looked at Bruce and took his hands in his own. âSee my sweet Cassiopeia, you were so worried about Damian and Jasonâs approval and theyâre the first ones who are okay with us being together!â
The batman just gave his husband a disapproving look. âBecause you just gave them both the go ahead for murder, of course theyâll like you,â he said in annoyance. Danny just let out a giggle and kissed his husband softly.Â
âIt will only be in moderation, right boys?â He asked, glancing at the two brothers. Jason and Damian both gave their father twin innocent smiles as they nodded their heads.Â
âOf course, Father, in moderation,â Damian said smoothly.Â
âIf Dad gives us the go ahead first, I donât see a problem,â Jason said crossing his arms. At this, Bruce let out a huff. Jason rarely called him Dad and usually only when he was upset or in need of comfort. Danny immediately got the dad name. He wasnât jealous, definitely not.Â
Dick let out a hum and took a seat next to Tim and looked at his other siblings and their de-facto siblings, Barb and Steph. âWhat do you guys think?â
Cass smiled. âBruce is happy. New Dad is nice,â she said, shrugging her shoulders before she looked at Danny. âDad?â
âDad,â Danny agreed, a happy smile on his face.Â
âI mean, Cass is right. Bruce is happier than Iâve ever seen him and I bet Danny can keep him on his toes,â Tim stated, giving Danny a look.Â
âIâm right here,â Bruce grumbled. Danny shushed his husband and looked at the siblings.Â
âDo I pass?â He asked. Duke, Tim, Dick, and Barb all looked at one another before they shrugged.Â
âDad,â they all stated happily.Â
âWill you be joining us on patrols?â Damian questioned, giving the man a hopeful look.Â
Danny simply shook his head. âNo, Iâm just going to be Bruceâs happy little housewife. Iâll be here with Alfie, bonding and doing my own work. If any of you need me, youâll be able to get a hold of me at any time. Iâm more than happy to help but the vigilante thing isnât my thing anymore.â
âWhat a shame,â Damian said with a tch. Danny just shrugged his shoulders and wrapped his arm around Bruceâs shoulders and kissed him again.Â
âLove you,â he murmured, nibbling at Bruceâs bottom lip softly. Bruce just smiled.Â
âLove you too,â he said in response, causing all of the siblings to stare in surprise. Bruce? Emotionally vulnerable? He could never.

If anyone were to ask Bruce or Batman how much he adored his kids, he probably wouldn't answer you-but! Some certain superheroes (looking at you Superman and Supergirl) would be able to hear the shift of the usually calm heart beat at the question, maybe even be able to smell the contentment and love that radiates off of Bruce at the simple thought of his chaotic children. Should he learn to actually answer the question honestly without fear of seeming weak? Most definitely. But if you were to tell the Big Ol' Bat⢠that, you know what he'd tell you? Shut up.
Anywho, this isn't about Bruce's deep rooted emotional issues, this is about how much he loves and cares for his kids. How much he wants to see them happy, content-and most importantly-alive.
Anyone that has come to know Bruce well enough might tell him that the last part is a little over dramatic. They'd roll their eyes at his antics and tell him to, "just calm down. You're only leaving for work, they'll be fine." But that is the issue, he has to leave his kids home alone...you know? Together. In the Manor-did Bruce mention he's leaving them ALONE yet? Because he has to leave them alone without any adult supervision. And Bruce does NOT care that Richard is twenty-five years old, he knows that he'll be too lenient on Tim's coffee intake and Damian-oh, God! He will probably try and introduce his poor baby to the-in Dick's words-"the wonders of sugar!"
Bruce shivers violently at the thought of coming back to his home-scratch that, he is worried he won't have a home (or children) to come back to.
"Maybe I don't have to leave, Alfred. I have people that can do my job for me." Bruce stands in front of the mirror just in front of the entrance door, smoothing his perfectly combed hair back in a show of how distressed leaving his kids is making him. Alfred (bless his dear heart) just smiles patiently and ever so kindly at his son through the mirror, grabbing the car key after making sure all of Bruce's suitcases are accounted for. "But you have been planning this event for awhile, Bruce. You have been so excited to open up the new orphanages and learning centers, why the worry now? You know young Master Richard can be trusted with his siblings."
Bruce turns around to face his father, his posture a bit more relaxed compared to before, leave it to Alfred to know what to say. "You're right...maybe I-"
Before Alfred can make any sarcastic comment about always being right, the little moment between father and son is ruined by the sound of Damian stomping down the steps and peaking over the railing with a pout a glare. "Father! Are you departing so soon without me? I have packed my things! So I should be ready to partake in this adventure with you."
Bruce can only stare in surprise as Damian rushes down the rest of the steps, his suitcase thumping against the wood as he drags the too big thing behind him, his little socked feet shuffling against the floor until he is proudly standing in front of Bruce, his big green eyes sparkling in anticipation as he looks up to his father. The sound that escapes Bruce can only be accurately described as the air being punched out of him, he can't handle Damian when he gets like this...so the only solution obviously is-"We can bring him. I don't think they'll mind an extra Wayne attending the opening."
Damian nods and reaches for his shoes, a curse escaping him as a pillow is very precisely thrown at his hands, forcing him to drop his shoes.
"Hold it right there, kid. Dad said that we ALL had to stay here and that I, Richard John Grayson, would be allowed to watch my adorable little siblings. Isn't that right, B?" Bruce freezes at the stares he receives from his eldest and youngest child, he can't exactly go back on his word to Richard now...Heaven knows the young man will be crushed if Bruce changes his mind and takes Damian with him, plus, the boy does have school to attend.
"I...did say that, yes." The man gives a defeated sigh and looks down at Damian with the best reassuring smile he can muster, it's kind of hard when he doesn't want to leave his kids alone either, "I'm sorry, Dami. Maybe next time you can come with me, okay? For now, you listen to your older brothers-" Bruce pauses at Jason's cackling coming from the kitchen at those words-"Listen to Dick, okay? And no unnecessary arguments with Tim." Damian's shoulders slump in defeat, his eyes only widening under the instructions to-to listen to Richard-ha! "But father, who will be aiding you on this mission of yours? All due respect to Pennyworth...but he is not as young as he once was."
What does Damian mean by adventure and mission? Bruce is only traveling to officially open up a couple orphanages and education centers in Haiti and a couple other places.
"Damian, what do you mean by that?"
Jason makes an appearance in the kitchen entrance, a tub of ice cream tucked in-between his arms like a baby. "Pipsqueak here thinks your giving a secret code for a mission you have somewhere. I tried to tell him that you are genuinely just traveling for work, but he just cursed me in Arabic and then said something about me being a snake and speaking my native tongue: lies."
Bruce looks back down at Damian with a humored look in his eyes, "I'm going to work out some things abroad. I have been working on some nice things for some very good people, Damian. Batman's work isn't just at night, you know? It's helping the people be able to live easier day-to-day too." Damian manages to slump even more, tugging his suitcase close to himself while muttering, "Then can I go quickly pack my regular clothes? I can still come." The young boy shouts at Richard picking him up and holding tightly onto him, the older stubbornly keeping his grip firm despite the struggle while he turns to give Bruce a dazzling smile.
"You go have fun with those other kids! I know-ow! No biting, Damian! I know how much you enjoy children and I'm sure they'll appreciate your dedication to their health and education. I promise not to burn anything down while you and Alfie are away!"
Bruce was feeling reassured up until Dick mentioned not burning anything down...now all he'll be imagining is his kids trapped in this maze of a home screaming as its burning down. But before he can say anything about it, Alfred honks the car horn loudly thrice, signaling to Bruce that he shouldn't keep his personal pilots waiting any longer, so, with a sigh and a slightly worried look in his eyes, Bruce bends down to kiss Damian on his cheek goodbye. Smiling fondly at the eager look he receives from Richard when sitting back up and also placing a loving kiss on his eldest son's face as well, he quickly walks over to Jason and surprises him with a kiss as well, causing the nineteen-year-old to blush and sputter.
As Bruce turns to find Tim, the boy suddenly appears behind him, his eyes glued onto his tablet while tilting his face slightly to the side so Bruce can access his cheek.
After giving all four a kiss, Bruce feels he can finally leave...well, not without shouting rules and safety measures while slowly inching his way towards the car. The man finally leaving after Alfred honks at him again. Richard holds Damian up with an arm wrapped around his chest, letting the boy dangle while he waves at the car goodbye, sighing and shaking his head fondly when he can't see the car anymore. "B sure is something, isn't he?"
Damian crosses his arms and huffs: "By something, do you mean a traitor? I thought he loved me...I wanted to go with him."
Richard coos at Damian, quickly apologizing to the younger when he tries biting at him again for the babying. "Okay, okay...I get it! I made a list of fun things we can do together! I thought this could be a chance for us to bond more now that Bruce is away and we usually end up agreeing to surround him like a flock anyway. This time can be for just us as brothers and-yes, Jason?" The older teen lowers his hand after his name is called, "Do any of the things on your list include bank robbery?"
Richard is taken aback by the question, "You remember that I'm also a cop? Why are you asking me that? I'm supposed to uphold the law."
Jason scoffs and shrugs, "Supposed to doesn't mean you are. I'm just asking to see what our list of things are-oh, oh! Or maybe we can set fire to a gang's hideout I've been eyeing recently, they've been giving me a lot of shit lately and I don't appreciate it." Richard nods politely while sitting himself and Damian down on the couch, "Yeah...I appreciate your enthusiasm, Jay. But I don't think doing a crime is exactly the best way to have fun." Damian looks up at his eldest brother questioningly for the response, "I hate to agree with Todd...but that does sound very enjoyable. Who doesn't like fire?"
"Right? See. Baby Bird gets it." Jason says proudly.
Richard looks horrified, a scenario of him and his brothers stuck in a holding cell until Bruce is called back being all he needs to shake his head quickly in refusal. "Nope! I'm going to have to keep my eyes on you two. We aren't committing arson and we aren't robbing a bank of innocent peoples money."
Tim sniffles and looks up from his tablet, "The bank robs us. Who knows how they use our hard earned money? I say we rob them back!" Damian and Jason shout in agreement, the second eldest mentioning going to grab his mask but is quickly interrupted by Richard telling him to get his ass back on the couch-"Get your ass back on the couch! Have you three always been this...this insane? I think I'm beginning to see how Bruce feels." Jason snorts, "Yeah. You're ruining my fun already, old man." A gasp escapes from Richard's lips at the unnecessarily cruel words, he is not old!
"I know how to have fun! I told you I made a list of things to do that are fun AND keep us out of harms way until dad comes back so we don't have to care about it anymore."
Damian rolls his eyes, "Fine then. Let's read this list of yours." The boy reaches for the paper and automatically sighs at the things written down on it, "Really? Play hide and seek, make popcorn and watch movies, go on a shopping spree, go to an amusement park, tell scary stories-" Damian stops there and waves the list around-"What are we, five and out on a campout? This list is so juvenile, so immature and childish and I..." The look on Richard's face makes Damian trail off for a moment, the man looks so pitiful and hopeful at the same time. "I think...it sounds just fine all things considered. Father...father did tell me to listen to you."
Richard smiles big and hugs onto Damian while shouting thank you, rambling on and on about what they could add to the list, not noticing his baby brother sending threatening glares Tim-and especially-Jason's way. Dread is what the older two boys feel when Damian suddenly smiles and grabs the list from Richard's hands, an evil cackles escaping his lips as he starts writing stuff down. "You know...maybe we can enjoy this moment? I think we should add a water balloon fight to the list."
That look the younger is wearing on his face lets Jason and Tim know that from here on out, this means war.
(If anyone that reads this also has read my Damian Gremlin Wayne and His Even More Gremlin-esque Family, thank you first and foremost! But I know I still have other parts I need to write for that, but while sitting in bed I had this idea out of nowhere đ. I might write them doing each of the things on the list, literally! Them doing each one until Bruce comes back home lol.
Don't blame Richard for the things on the list! He has never had siblings to start out with, let alone so many at one time XD. Though...maybe I'm biased? Cause those are things I'd have fun doing with my own siblings đ. We literally put on a puppet show when the electricity went out once and were entertained, and in my happy/crack BatFam universe, Richard is the sibling that has silly little ideas like that (and makes it fun! Thank you very much.) I might also show the kids going a bit insane while Bruce is away, cause I know I'm not the only one that feels restless when my parents are gone for a certain amount of time....right? đđđ
And please don't ask me why I title my stories in such a way, cause I don't have a proper answer for that other than I find it funny đ. Also, I wish I had the money to commission a picture of the BatBoys (actually in civilian persona) in a holding cell with another picture of Bruce looking a mix of tired, stressed and worried as he gets a call that they have to head home already XD. I can hear Bruce now, "Alfred! Tell the pilot to turn around! The boys are in jail already!"
I love talking to y'all too much, these notes are always longer than expected or needed XD. But I appreciate you all for stopping by, and don't be scared to leave me a comment (you don't have to though. Stopping by to read is enough!) No matter what it is! As you can tell by these notes, I have no issue with speaking đ, anywho! You darlings please stay safe, happy, healthy and of course lovely as always. đ)

ok but now i need to write down these! (disclaimer: this is a compilation of things iâve seen + a couple of mine, so you probably know a lot of them already)
â¨Batdad headcanonsâ¨
So we all know the classical âwouldnât notice if some other random kid started living in his houseâ thing, right? I personally think itâs true to some point. Like, he would notice thereâs a new kid he definitely did not bring into the house, BUT he immediately (and mostly correctly) assumes said kid is here because their life sucks otherwise so he pretends not to see. (Bc like, come on, the Wayne family is anything but functional so if this is an improvement, what was their life like before they came?)
He doesnât really care what the kids do with his money??? If they come up to him and ask âHey B! Can I have a million bucks?â he would pull out his phone and wire them 2 million without question. The only one who has absolutely zero trust and must say explicitly what he wants is Damian, for obvious reasons.
He says he doesnât have favourites but everyone knows he does. Cass, of course, and Jason (Do you seriously think he could carry guns with little issue if he didnât have favourite son privileges?).
In reality, heâs absolute shit at handing out punishment/scolding the kids. He does try, to his credit, but they know how to manipulate their way out of it or bend the rules to their favour.
He tried his best not to swear in front of them as they grew up (still doesnât swear at all in their presence), but at some point he just gave up on scolding them for it. So while on patrol, heâll just sigh every time Jason screams âmotherfucker!â into the comms, but back in the mansion may god help them if Alfred hears them.
Ever since Dick was a kid he started carrying snacks with him on patrol. Nowadays he needs to be prepared and carry all the specific varieties they like. (He forgot Dickâs mini cereal bags once and he still canât hear the end of it).
I personally think he would let the public think all the kids are his bio kids. Gotham thinks heâs just really an idiot when it comes to birth control, because surely all those black haired, blue eyed children are his. (The only ones whose parentage is truly questioned are Duke and Damian, but as he grows up Damian looks more and more like Bruce so the speculation dies down).
As a follow up, at first people tried to claim they were pregnant with his kid, but actually it was the Wayne children who shut it down by unsubtly implying all of them were planned and wanted, not accidents. (Which is technically trueâŚ)
He may be give Tired Dad energy 90% of the time, but thereâs a reason all his kids are insane, reckless, diabolical little terrors. They learnt to be THAT overdramatic from him.
Like, come on. Bruce âI dress as a bat to beat up clownsâ Wayne, a responsible and sensible adult?
HA.
Heâs always excited to receive AND give gifts to his family. Half the time he just receives drawings of bats, exactly one sock with a silly pattern, or a cheap scented candle from the dollar store but you can bet your ass he treasures every last one of them.
Because of how much he spoils his own kids, he cannot be left unsupervised with anyone elseâs children. (Too many times has this warning been ignoredâ Wallyâs still salty that Barry dragged him back home. Jon has his own bedroom in the mansion)
He may have difficulties with accepting he has emotions but he loves all his kids just the same and he never regrets becoming a dad, even if do drive him mad sometimes.

i have a question, as i am also a big enjoyer of damian wayne and have been spinning around the concept of an arc/issue/solo for him and i like to hear people's thoughts an ideas: if you could right a solo, or an issue of detective comics starring damian wayne, what would right, because GOD, DC needs to give him to someone who'll actually do something with him.
hmmmm I think a good follow-up to Robin: Son of Batman, which focuses a lot on Damian trying to redeem/"redeem" himself for what he did in the League of Shadows, would be an arc where the idea that he was fully responsible is challenged.
(I don't necessarily think he has to agree with it, I think lots of batfam members have insane senses of responsibility and if they immediately all went like 'yeah you're right this isn't something I could stop' it would get boring. I just would like to see it challenged by the text, like babs tells cass that she wasn't at fault for killing someone as an eight year old in batgirl. Before cass goes to fight shiva to the death in a battle she does not intend on winning b/c she won't kill again XD)
anyway so with that in mind. i think talia should be involved. I know I'm so insanely mad whenever I see this panel (link) b/c Talia's being asked to apologize and redeem herself for something that wasn't even in character (and i followed up: Bruce can act OOC and get it swept under the rug or justified he doesn't have to apologize for it (link).) ANYWAY but thats besides the point the point is I'm imagining Talia hearing Damian say like "we all must pay, mother." and I think she'd be like "who tf even told you that????" and she'd be a good second point of view in this arc, challenging Damian's ideas that he needs to actively redeem himself or he was a bad person earlier, because while Damian just sees what he did vs what he's doing now, she sees him as her child.
I also went kind of on about this when reading Knight Terrors (link) but I think it would be deeply discomforting for Damian to contemplate the idea that he wasn't in responsible for what he did in the League, because the way he deals with it is ok wait i'll just quote that post:
I think if he followed these thoughts (that his training is something that was 'done' to him) further, it would scare him, because the way he currently copes with it and views the world in general is by everything being his fault and his responsibility - in his control. If he admits or acknowledges that he was just a kid being raised a certain way, itâs not in his control, itâs not something he can redeem himself from, and it falls outside his current way he views the world.
anyway that said that's what like. the general 'next step' of Damian's arc I'd have i think would be neat.
I'd also be down with like. literally just fun adventures, like I wouldn't even hate Damian in high school and solving low-stakes crimes like we have in batman and robin 2023 if it wasn't written so blandly

Chapter Twenty-Four: Mindfulness/Movie Night
When Jim went back to work, Barbara decided to add a new element to Jason's training. Mindfulness meditation. Jason sat with her for nearly an hour, listening to a guided meditation before pausing the audio. "Barbara, I have a date in two hours," Jason whispered.
Barbara opened her eyes. "I'm sorry, what?" Barbara asked. Jason gave her a wide-eyed look just as he realized he hadn't told her about his date. "You have a date? Where?"
"Here... I meant to tell you. I really did. I just forgot. We're just gonna watch a movie," Jason replied as he stood up and stretched out. "Also, don't worry about dinner. I'll cook."
"You're gonna cook?" Barbara asked. "You know how to cook?"
"Yes, I know how to cook," Jason whispered. He went to the kitchen and washed his hands. "I'm making something easy anyway." He started cutting vegetables, and Barbara followed him, sitting across from him at the counter as he cooked.
"Jason, can you tell me who it is?" Barbara asked.
"I don't know if I can say... Pop doesn't know either," Jason reassured her.
"Oh no, I'm not jealous that youâ." Barbara grew quiet as she noticed the grin on Jason's face. "Shut up," she laughed as she grabbed a julienned slice of bell pepper and ate it.
"Hey!" Jason laughed. He went back to cooking quietly, and Barbara looked at him, cocking her head. "What?" Jason asked.
"This is your first ever date, isn't it?" Barbara asked. Jason nodded without looking up.
"Is this not a normal date? Like is it obvious that I have no idea what I'mâ."
"A date can be whatever you want it to be. Don't put pressure on yourself to do what's expected of you. You're just supposed to have fun," Barbara interrupted. Jason relaxed his shoulders. "What are you cooking?"
"You'll see," Jason whispered. Barbara squinted at him.
"You can cook?" Barbara asked once more.
"Yes, I can cook. Why is that so shocking to you?" Jason asked. Barbara shrugged and let him go back to cooking. Once dinner was in the oven, he asked Barbara to stay and watch the food while he showered and got dressed.
Jason came out of the bathroom, drying his hair with a towel. "Is time still good?" Jason asked.
"Fifteen minutes to spare," Barbara replied. Jason ran back to his room and straightened up a little. "Can I make myself a plate?"
"Sure, why not?" Jason answered from his bedroom. Someone knocked on the door, and Jason took a deep breath. "I'll get it!" He walked to the door, and Reese stood there with a tall, severe-looking man with white hair.
"Papa, see. I told you," Reese whispered. Mr. Polishuk said something in another language.
Jason answered the man's question and watched as a smile spread across the man's face. "You speak Hungarian?" Mr. Polishuk asked. Jason nodded and offered a sheepish grin before shaking his hand.
"Mr. Polishuk, would you like to come in?" Jason asked. Mr. Polishuk shook his head.
"No, I just wanted to meet the boy my son speaks so highly of," he replied, "It was very nice to meet you, Jason. Is your father home?"
"Oh, no. My father's working late tonight," Jason replied. Barbara took that as her cue to set her plate aside and come to the door.
"Hi, I'm his older sister, Barbara Gordon," she smiled as she extended her hand. Mr. Polishuk shook her hand.
Mr. Polishuk nodded at them before reminding Reese that he'd be back in three hours, and they parted ways. Reese followed Jason inside, and Jason asked if he wanted to sit down.
"Sorry about my dad. I'm still in the process of earning his trust back," Reese apologized, "And Ariel says hi."
"Don't worry about it. I made dinner," Jason whispered.
"It's good, and I'm gonna make my exit. I'll be in my room if anyone needs anything," Barbara replied as she took her plate to her room. Jason got up and made their plates, and he took a deep breath. "I forgot to ask what you wanted to drink," Jason whispered.
"Oh, water is fine... Jason, can I help?" Reese asked. Jason shook his head. Reese stood there for a moment before going to the kitchen to help Jason. "Sorry, Iâ. Wow, this is beautiful."
"Thanks," Jason smiled before confessing, "Reese, I've never been on a date before."
"That's okay," Reese replied. Jason expected Reese to say he'd never dated either. "Jason, don't be nervous... It's just me."
"That's why I'm nervous," Jason laughed. Reese nudged Jason playfully. They both sat at the counter and ate together, and Reese tried to find something to say.
"I didn't know I likedâ. The fish is good. Thank you," Reese mumbled. Jason smiled.
"Thank you," Jason replied, "I uhâ. I forgot to pick a movie to watch." Reese chuckled before catching Jason's eye. They made eye contact for an uncomfortably long time.
Jason turned his head and went back to eating. Reese hesitated a moment before going back to his dinner. Jason turned back to Reese, and he opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. "Hey, Jason... I thought your last name was Todd," Reese mentioned.
"Oh, yeah. I'm adopted," Jason put his fork down, "It was a little while ago. It hasn't been a long time, but I've been here since I was twelve. Can I ask about the stepmoms?"
"He thinks we need a mother... He married my mom first, but she left when she found out about Ariel. Ariel's mom was his true love. She was pretty and sweet and the only mother I really knew. After my mom left when I was three, Ariel and his mom came to live with us. I never saw my mom again, so Ariel's mom was Mumma to us. She died when Ariel and I were ten in a car accident," Reese took a deep breath, "My father married two years after that, and after a year, they divorced, and he married Four. It won't last."
"Why do you hate her so much?" Jason asked.
"Because she doesn't love my father, and she's no mother. She's not a mother at all. At least Three didn't hate kids," Reese whispered, "I'm sorry..."
"It's okay. I didn't know my mom wasn't my birth mom until after she passed. But now I'm not sure if my birth mom is alive at all," Jason confessed, "And if she is alive, I don't know if I'll want to find her... I mean, of course, I do, but I don't want to give up this family."
"Do you look like her?" Reese asked.
"In some ways, yeah... But, mostly, I just look like my father," Jason replied. They finished eating dinner, and Reese helped him wash the dishes and put away the leftovers. By the time they got around to watching the movie, Jason was half-asleep. He lay his head on Reese's shoulder as they sat.
Reese took Jason's hand and locked their fingers together before resting their hands on his knee. Jason smiled and sat with his feet on the couch. He closed his eyes, and Reese whispered something that Jason wasn't awake enough to hear. When Jason woke up, the movie was over, but Reese was still holding his hand. "Reese, I'm sorryâ."
"It's okay. This was the best date I've ever had," Reese whispered. Jason smiled. "Do you maybe wanna do this again? At my house next time?"
Jason nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, that'd be nice," Jason whispered, "Oh, um... I'm still holding your hand, aren't I?" Reese nodded, still making eye contact with Jason.
"You're the first boy I ever liked," Reese confessed. Jason's face went red, and he turned away. "Did I say something wrong?"
"No," Jason whispered as he tried to collect himself. "I'm just a little surprised..."
The door opened, and Jim grabbed hung up his coat. "Hi, Pop... Remember Reese?" Jason asked. Jim shook Reese's hand.
"Nice to see you again, Reese. I'm just gonna make myself something to eat, and I'll make myself scarceâ."
"I made you dinner. It's in the fridge," Jason interrupted. Jim smiled.
"Thank you," Jim replied as he made his plate and popped it in the microwave.
Reese leaned over to whisper, "You sure your dad doesn't mind?" Jason took Reese's hand.
Jason changed the channel and nodded as he rested his head on Reese's shoulder. "It's fine, Reese," Jason whispered. He sat there with Reese until Mr. Polishuk rang the doorbell. Reese stood up and lingered a moment before pressing a kiss to Jason's cheek. Jason touched his cheek and offered a nervous, near-silent laugh. Jim set his dinner aside and answered the door, and introduced himself to Mr. Polishuk.
Soon after Mr. Polishuk and Reese left, Jim nudged Jason. "So, how'd your date go?" Jim asked.
"I slept through the entire movie," Jason groaned out of embarrassment. Jim chuckled. "But he did hold my hand. Heâ. Pop, he kissed me... He kissed me on my cheek," Jason smiled as his hand strayed back to his cheek.
