So What's Your Dosha?
I am interested in Ayruvedic Medicine and study it as a way to be my best. Ayrurveda is a 5000 year old science that divides our body types into three major categories: Vata, Pitta, and Kaffa, although there are many combinations possible. The science makes recommendations about how to keep your dosha, or type, in balance, which is the path to excellent mental and physical heath and maximum…

These days i feel like my mind is in a jumble. Just totally non sensible.
The end of the year reflections are calling to me and so much has happend. In the late winter i went on 2 trips, one with my found family and one with my real family. Both trips where amazing. I also got a internship going at that point and i was working my ass off for the last projects. I can dub this season as wanting to rest, nest and winter, but not really doing it.
Then come spring im really starting with my bachelor thesis. Just in a routine with work and study + working out. I started training for the thriathlon sprint for a good cause. I was so fun, doing it with my friend who i also have kickboxing with. Just running, swimming in my local swimming pool and cycling on the hometrainer. I really fell in love with swimming, it is such a nice sport. I really feel like picking it up again. And not to forget april, the last couple of years april was a very hard month for me mentally, but this year i focused on aryuvedic practices to balance my body, spirit and mind. I also did a reiki course. Those 2 got me through april and the rest of the period around my thesis flawlessly. Balanced is what i would call this month. A lot, but everything was nourished and balanced. My spirit was fed with reiki, aryuveda and mindfullness, my body was nourished with good food and great workouts and my mind was occupied with study and thesis.
So summer rolls around and summer is suposed to be a season of high energy. And it was at the first half. Just having done a little thriathlon i hurled myself into my thesis. Thesis, thesis and dinner parties. I had my 21 dinner in the summer since i was so busy in spring. A lot of my friends also turned 21 which meant a lot of dinner parties, which was so nice. I love dinner parties way more then a real party. And my work for the thesis payed of, i got my bachelors degree! Insanely happy. After that i went with my mom to slovenia, a beautiful country and i absolutly fell in love with bled. A pitoresque little village, and our host took us up to the most amazing view. One of my favorite memories of the year. After that i dog sat for a few weeks just resting. But the weather was aweful, the only highlight was amsterdam pride and i finally had a plan for the upcoming years after my bachelor. Summer was a season of endings all the seeds that i so carefully had sown over the last couple years finally where ready to harvest. My studies, my friends, my relationship with my mom improved and i made some final decisions.
Come september and im working my ass of for a month in a whole food grocery store, i need some bucks if you know what i mean. Since i will be leaving in november for 5 months to go to new zealand, sydney, vietnam and laos. For the first month i would be alone, visiting my cousin and then 2 of my best friends would come along and we would travel for 4 months together. So after earning the last of my bucks im hopping on the longest flight of my life. Around 26 hours im flying. I landed in christchurch and had an amazing time, i love hostels and meeting new people and i pick up the campervan that we had bought. Everything is going great, im over the moon, my adventure is finally starting. Drive, drive, nice landscape, drive and crash. I got into an accident. Thankfully i had no injuries and i got the van insured. The car was undriveble. It took two weeks to handle the aftermath of it all. And i had to find a new van. I also had to get over my fear of driving, it got so bad i was scared to sit next to the drivers seat. So i got a new van and got over my fear at least a little bit. And im writing this from bob (the name of the new campervan) in queenstown where me and my friends would be celabrating christmas! If i could give this season one name it would be chaos. Just pure pushing at my limits, boundries and beliefs.
So first i rested (but not really) then i had a good balance for a while, but sadly that fell of and the harvest of my hard work began. After the harvest i am searching for other seeds to sow and going on a journey to push my limits and beliefs which kinda resulted in total chaos (that i got out of gracefully).
The next year (which for me starts around februari because i feel like new year starts with spring and a new moon cycle) will bring even more confusion and challenges, that i will gladly take.

Good idea to choose a yoga teacher training course in India
If you are just beginning a yoga teacher training program, you may be concerned about the level of knowledge that you should have before the training begins. However, there is no need to worry if you don’t know your capitulum from your clavicle or your pranayama from plain old yama. Any respectable yoga teacher training course will cover yoga history, philosophy, anatomy, physiology, asana, aryuveda, meditation, breathing techniques, pranayama, Sanskrit, dialogue sessions, and practice teaching.
If you know that one or more of these subjects are near and dear to your heart than I suggest seeking out a school that has a focus on that particular aspect of yoga. Some of the more popular yoga styles are Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kundalini, Bikram, and ISHTA Yoga.
The focus of your curriculum in a yoga program will depend on what kind of studio you select. If you’re more concerned with the spiritual side of yoga perhaps a Hatha or Kundalini studio may be right for you. In a Hatha teacher training, you can expect to get a firm knowledge of the basic yoga poses while learning to practice and guide meditations. Kundalini studios will emphasize breathing, meditation, and chanting while challenging you with a few sequences that can be intense.
If you are interested in more vigorous workout, or perhaps would like to teach in a gym, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, or Bikram may be more to your liking. Vinyasa is a general term used to describe a yoga style that focuses on linking the breath with body movement through a series of poses referred to as a “flow”. Ashtanga is the precursor to what is commonly known as power yoga because of the relentless movement involved in the sequence.
If you are interested in teaching, it is a good idea to choose a studio that is respected within the yoga community. I would recommend asking to see an old syllabus or manual if the school can provide one. This is a good indicator as to the level of organization and professionalism you will encounter at that studio. They may only allow you to peruse their manual briefly since you are not a student, but you can at least make sure it covers the aforementioned general topics.
The majority of reputable yoga studios will also spend a good amount of time teaching you about the business side of yoga. This includes but is not limited to ethics of being a teacher of yoga, when and how you need to insure yourself, sound advice on opening your own studio, and ways you can polish up your resume in order to get a job teaching. Last but not least, whether you want to teach or just expand your knowledge, it is a good idea to take your yoga teacher training in India course from Oceanic Yoga school.

Ayurveda is a "sister science" to yoga and an ancient healing system dating back 5,000 years. Ayurveda suggests an oil self-body massage as part of our daily hygiene.
I love the idea of adding another healing technique to my daily routine and I LOVE massage! And I hope this inspires you to take up a daily self-massage as well, as it’s very healing and therapeutic.
Self massage in Ayurveda is more than just mindlessly rubbing oil on body. Ayurveda recommends spending a minimum of fifteen minutes on self-massage each time you practice it, devoting love and attention to each of the tissue layers as you nourish them with warm oil.
Self massage with warm oil has many benefits from rejuvenating, nourishing and replenishing the skin to toning strong muscles, lubricating and supporting healthy joints, calming and soothing the nervous system, stimulating general circulation, revitalize and energize cells and healthy sleep patterns.
It’s recommended to take a warm bath or shower after an oil self-massage for even deeper benefits. You can use plain organic sesame oil or Vatta, Pitta, Kapha specific oils for your Ayurvedic dosha.
Here's a link to a video, which I found super helpful, on Ayurvedic Self-Massage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HQLsfZh5js
I hope I’ve inspired some of you to love yourself a little bit more today! Now enjoy a massage!

Golden Goodness
As someone who loves brewing fresh tea from herbs, roots, and spices, I loved making turmeric and ginger tea, fresh from the root. Sometimes, however, fresh root is not always available in my grocery store and I have learned that fresh turmeric in high amounts is not necessarily recommended for women. So it was great when I found a bulk spice shelf at my local HEB grocery store that sells dried herbs and spices. Not only were they of great quality, I also found these much more affordable. Located near this shelf was a container selling mixed ingredients to make a golden latte for about $14 for a jar. I looked at the ingredients and checked some recipes online and decided to make my own using the dried ingredients I just found.
Turmeric has been shown to outperform many pharmaceutical medicines in fighting several chronic conditions and has been shown to decrease cancer tumor growth. Other benefits of turmeric include possibly preventing Alzheimer’s, fighting inflammatory issues, assists in the detoxification process, relieves menstrual pain, improves cognitive function, and reduces stress and depression.
In addition to turmeric I added more spices that are warming for the body and are great at the end of a stressful day to wind down and calm the soul. The recipe below is not in any strict measurements since I tend to adjust tastes depending on my preferences for that day. You can always make it sweeter, less sweet, spicier, etc. as you learn how everything tastes.
Golden Goddess Latte
Cup of milk of your choice (I prefer a blend of coconut and almond)
1/4-1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1/8-1/4 tsp ground ginger
Pinch of dried cloves
Pinch of dried cardamom
Pinch of nutmeg
Small amount of virgin coconut oil
Small amount of raw honey
Combine all ingredients is a pot, heat to frothy boil, pour steaming latte into a mug, and enjoy!
