Rachael's Art Information
Tumblr media
The top illustration is Fields of Gold 2, one of my recent artworks and a personal favorite.
Quick info:
Commissions - closed, mostly. You can always ask, though; I may be able to take on small projects here and there. My policies and prices information is posted in a journal entry on DeviantArt, and I will keep this journal up to date.
Art trades - closed.
Requests - closed, permanently.
Personal info:
I am an art hobbyist. I sell my work at SF/Fantasy conventions in the United States, but I do not make my living through my art. Art is my for-fun-and-relaxation vocation. I make my living as a systems administrator with a mainframe z/OS specialty for SS&C Technologies. I am based in the Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area in the United States.
I like to draw dragon things, feathery things, buggy things, monstrous things, and other fantasy and SF things. I prefer design-oriented illustration over narrative illustration, and my focus tends to be on pattern and decoration. I am inspired by all kinds of creatures from the natural world, especially fish, insects, reptiles, birds, and flowers.
My artwork is comprised mostly of traditional mediums. I use ink, watercolor, and a variety of colored pencil brands, though I favor Prismacolor pencils over all others. I also use gel pens and acrylics. I like to include elements such as scrapbook paper, fancy rocks (cut/polished cabochons), acrylic rhinestones and Swarovski crystals, metal and glass decorations, and a variety of other 3D objects. Occasionally, I'll get a wild hair and break out the glitter.
I do some work in Photoshop. Usually I use the program for post-processing a hand-drawn artwork, but also I use it to perform color tests and other small projects. I would not consider Photoshop to be one of my primary creative mediums; rather, it is one of my finishing tools.
I share my artwork on a few other platforms, in combination with general short blogging. I know that some people have different platform preferences, so here are the other places I can be found:
Amazon - I have four dragon- and fantasy-themed coloring books available on Amazon. These are all original hand-drawn images that I've reworked in Photoshop to make them colorist-friendly. The current set of books are aimed at advanced colorists. I plan to publish books that are suitable for casual and young colorists soon. Here are links to the individual books:
Dragon Adventure 1 - 2nd edition coming in late 2025.
Dragon Adventure 2 - 2nd edition coming in 2027.
Dragon Adventure 3 - 2nd edition coming in 2028.
Dragon Adventure 4 - no 2nd edition planned.
Coming soon: Kid-friendly Dragon Adventure coloring books.
Cara - I've joined this portfolio/social site recently, and I am still in the process of populating it with my work.
DeviantArt - This is a chronological catalogue of artistic endeavors, moderately well-organized. I consider DA to be my "primary" art sharing website.
Print Information - This DeviantArt journal has information about my prints. I sell them ad hoc and make them with my own equipment, rather than using online print services. My prints are matted, signed, and numbered limited editions. I use archival paper and ink.
Facebook - I reveal new art here in parallel with DeviantArt. I post other information and personal achievements as well. I occasionally share music and performance videos that I like, and also terrible puns and other amusements. The vast majority of what I share is public, and SFW.
FurAffinity - I reveal new art here in parallel with DeviantArt.
Instagram - This usually parallels new work posts that are on my other websites, but the formatting may be different due to Instagram's image ratio restrictions.
Twitter/X - I am not posting artwork here any longer. I'm not as engaged on Twitter as I am elsewhere. I may not respond to DMs very quickly, but I do tend to drop by every couple of days.
Email - If you prefer to communicate via email, you are welcome to send me a DM and I will provide my email address. I do not want to post my address publicly on Tumblr.

We’re two thirds of the way through the Posting Month, and there’s been such great fic and art posted already, you guys should all be very proud.
This is a reminder that everything needs to be posted by the 30th and that Artists need to email links for all their art, and a thumbnail for us to add to the masterpost, to us by the 30th as well.
The earlier you can get those to us, the earlier we can get started on making the posts, so if you’re in a position to send now, please do. We will not be chasing any we don’t receive by the 30th so if you’re liable to forget if you leave it, please do get on it now.
Any questions, please do reach out!

The reason why they require such high GPU compute is they are using AI to fight AI. New AI models and high-quality AI models do tend to require a beefy computer, and work best with higher end Nvidia cards. Like any technology, it should become more accessible with time and research.
If it's any consolation, the type of training that Glaze and Nightshade work against is the type usually done by bigger companies who have already changed how they operate in getting data. They now pay companies like Tumblr and stock photo companies to access their data, and those companies give the option for users to opt out. Going to your settings and opting out is the easiest option, or add in no-scrape commands if you have your own website.
The types of people who would disregard your opt-out request are going to be using things like LORAs and image-to-image which are not affected by Glaze or Nightshade, and are only going to be a minor inconvenience at best.
If you still really want to do it, you could hire GPUs for cloud computing, or ask a friend with a powerful enough gaming PC.
Ppl: “Glaze and nightshade all your art!!”
Also ppl: * does not mention that you need to have a fucking NVIDIA GPU and running nightshade on one image takes at best 20 minutes*
Like the online version of glaze/nightshade requires an account. And last time i checked they arent accepting new accounts because of the high pressure.
Like i make my art on my ipad. My MacBook is from 2014. If i tried to download and run nightshade on my decade old macbook and go throufg 10+ years of artworks i might as well just set it on fire.

Up close look at both Cassidy and Delia:

Challengers but make it Hanamusa with some Yamushipping. I thought this fit them really well (I genuinely just wanted to draw them in tennis outfits fighting over Jessie 😂 I have an outfit I want to draw Jessie in too, if I ever find the time to get it done) and I have a few more ideas for this tennis AU, so fingers crossed I’ll get them drawn once things have settled down at work 🤞
I’m also advocating for a 🍉 family, their last two fundraisers resulted in their PayPal accounts being blocked by PayPal, so I'm organising on behalf of them with their permission and transferring the money raised to them through the bank (This is me being completely transparent for anyone that is uncomfortable, if you are, please do not donate, I will completely understand). (The money that was originally raised isn't lost, PayPal is holding on to it, but they can't fight to get it back in their current conditions since they're moving a lot and WiFi is unstable at the best of times. So if you donated before, do not worry, they'll be able to use that money to rebuild once they've evacuated to a safe place). I’m currently not open for commissions because I’m burnout from the last lot I’ve had to do (it’s the exact reason I don’t do commissions, but this is an emergency), but I am raffling off the Across the Spiderverse Artbook (never used, might as well be brand new) to anyone that donates at least €10. Also, if we manage to get to €7k I’ll draw James and Jessie in all of Barbie and Ken’s outfits from the live action Barbie movie (James will be dressed as Barbie and Jessie as Ken).

ArtFight attack on @frogcroaks :D
I told you I wanted to draw them on Twitter, and here they are indeed!
These designs were immediate favorites when you posted them. When  you mentioned Nekomata liked soft drinks, my immediate thoughts went to the numerous vending machines in the streets of many Japanese cities and towns... So this little scene, with Bakeneko holding such a drink and Nekomata wanting a sip, quickly manifested itself in my mind.
It was the occasion to practice perspective and urban backgrounds. I also tested out my new grey fineliners, but unfortunately, the scanner doesn't really like them much (the black ones are processed just fine), so I had to overlay the sketch I had scanned earlier.
I messed up the character perspective, though. I know Nekomata looks smaller here, even though they're taller than Bakeneko :(
I hope you'll like this!
