ive seen people debate how arthurs character in a modern!au as a high schooler or a college student and ive decided its finally time to speak my truth (bc obviously everyone wants to hear it /j)

people will really be like “arthur wouldnt be a jock” or “arthur would be a bully—” [GUNSHOT] KEEP MY HUSBANDS NAME OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MOUTH!!!

(this is obviously me over exaggerating pls dont cancel me)

just hear me out though. arthur would definitely be a jock. canonically he is so passionate about being a knight, so i feel like that clearly translates to him being the same way about a sport like soccer

he’d be the star player but not because his father is wealthy or because he’s popular, but because he works hard to be the best he can possibly be. the same is applied to how well he does in classes. he would be the type of boy to act like he doesn’t care about school, but then spends every night watching videos on math concepts so he can do better

and arthur would definitely be popular. no matter how much people may argue against it, he’d depicted as a popular prince. his people love him, the knights love him, he “knows about women—” he’s popular; point blank period

so not only would be the star player of his school’s soccer team, but he would also be loved by his teammates, teachers, and peers. arthur’s easygoing and does well in school. while he can be nice there are times where he takes his teasing a little too far. he can come off as mean or “prattish” or get caught up in his teammates��� roughhousing, but under all of it its clear he has a good heart

but arthur isn’t just a star soccer player everyone likes or the popular guy that’ll throw a house party when his father isn’t around. deep down, in that good heart of his, there’s also something weighing it down

he’ll throw house parties almost every weekend because uther is never around and he always wonders why that’s the case. arthur wonders why whenever his father does come back, it’s when his half-sister, morgana, is visiting from college. but then he remembers that morgana isn’t the one to kill her mother just by existing

arthur keeps that close to his heart and it’s the reason why he’s the star player and golden boy of his school. maybe if he scored more goals and got more As then uther would finally look at him and be proud to call him his son

it’s always a rainy cloud over his head; the fact that he’s not enough for his own father. so he thinks that maybe his teammates and peers think the same way. maybe they don’t like who he is, but the goals he scores and the trophies he wins them. maybe they like the house parties he throws and how he’s so handsome and has money, but not actually like him for who he is

so arthur is definitely a popular boy and a jock, but he’s also a little more complicated than that

“Arthur Pendragon! What do you have there?” Sansa Stark demanded as she marched towards him.

“Calm down, Red. It’s not what you think.” The blond boy told her.

“Oh, it isn’t?” She scoffed. “Then let me see what you’ve got there.” She put her hand on her waist.

Arthur let out a sigh, then carefully unwrapped the his cloak. He was soaking wet, coming from outside, carrying his cloak on his arms, and Sansa was sure he was up to no good.

“I think he’s hurt.”

That made her frown. Sansa finally took a good look into the mess of cloth, and realised that Arthur was caring… “A sniffler?” She looked at the little creature, carefully bundled up on his cloack. It surely was a small sniffle -perhaps too small to be an adult -and it was shaking with cold -or maybe fear. “Where did you find it?”

“By the greenhouse.” Arthur told her. “I think he got lost. He was out in the rain, looking very scared.”

“Why were you out in the rain?” She asked.

“Not the point, Red.” Arthur gave her a smirk, but it wasn’t his full one. This seemed a bit more of habit than the actual desire to banter with her. “The point is that this little man needs care.”

“I’ll take him from you.” Sansa offered.

“Nah, it’s fine.” Arthur brought him closer. “I’ll do it.”

Sansa bit her lower lip. “Can I help?”

This time when he grinned at her, it was his full grin. “Only if you can keep a secret.”

“You know how to get into the kitchen?” Sansa’s mouth was literally hanging up.

“It’s not that hard.” He told her as he sat down. “Well, not if you know which fruit to tickle.”

“That sounds so weird the way you say it.” She spoke softly, watching him as he settled the sniffler on the table. ���Shouldn’t we take him to a teacher?”

“I don’t trust others to do what I know I can do better.” He said, drying the sniffler with a dry piece of cloth a house elf had brought him.

“Oh Merlin, you Slytherins…”

“You can always go, princess.” Arthur teased her.

“I won’t leave you alone with him until I know he’s fine.” She glared at the boy.

“Make yourself comfortable then.”

Sansa watched as Arthur -the biggest jock and playboy she’d ever met - spent the next hour caring for the little creature with great gentleness. He dried it gently, then settled it near a fire so it’d get warm, gave it some tea, then a piece of chocolate - which snifflers apparently loved. All the time he was so careful and attentive that it made Sansa’s head spin.

Arthur was a typical jock -or so she’d thought. He was all easy smiles and teasing words, a complete smartass -and a Slytherin to boot. It was odd seeing him like this.

“Careful there, Red.” He murmured, even though his eyes never left the small sniffler who was now dozing by the fire.

Sansa cleared her throat. “Careful with what?”

“You keep looking at me like that and I might think you’re falling for me.”

She rolled her eyes. Typical. “No need to worry about that. It won’t happen.”

Arthur finally looked at her, his grin softer this time. “Never say never, Red. You know how I feel about a challenge.”

Sansa scoffed. “It wasn’t a challenge.”

“It sounded like one.” He pressed, his grin getting bigger.

“Don’t start, Pendragon.”

He sighed dramatically. “Only because we have a child present.” He indicated the sniffler with his chin. “And we certainly don’t want him waking up now, full of energy. The kitchen might not survive.”

“Yes.”

“But we do have a visit to Hogsmeade coming up.” He continued. “You should come with me.”

She narrowed her eyes at him. “Is that how you ask a girl out?”

“No, Red. That’s how I’m asking you out.”

Idk if she has a specific surname in the legend or otherwise but since her father is a blacksmith in the show this makes sense to me (even if it is a little on the nose)

I love the badassery that is her smithing knowledge in the show but the best way I could figure out how to translate that here was to make her and her father artists

Tom owns a pottery shop and she helps him run it. She loves to spend time with him in the studio and make her own pieces

Other than pottery, she likes to paint, draw, and sew/embroider

Her father is so so proud of her art and will display it in the shop for everyone to see
