I don't even have an ipad, but I know how amazing Procreate is. It was just announced they're making a full affordable animation program with a one time purchase of $20 and no subscription cost like holy shit????

Yo! Humble Bundle has a great deal on art software and resources going on for $30 USD (about $40ish CAD) that comes with a 1 year license for Clip Studio Paint PRO, a license for Paintstorm Studio, AND a license for Realistic Paint! The latter of which I had WAY TOO MUCH FUN drawing in, it's less of a drawing app and more like an interactive relaxation art game because it fuses realistic art tools such as pencils, watercolor, and oil paint with a very interactive UI. Look what I made with it using the charcoal tools! And unlike my art classes in college, no mess! 😭😆 (you can watch the timelapse if you want to see it made in real time, in which i struggle to draw a single nose LMAO)
Tumblr media
Soo yeah, this bundle is super worth it especially if you don't have Clip Studio Paint PRO yet and have been wanting to try it. It also comes with some 3D models and other resources for Clip Studio that are pretty handy, but the three pieces of software it comes with are definitely the real value here. It's only available for THREE MORE DAYS !! and as per Humble Bundle tradition, the profits from the bundles goes towards charity - in this case, it's No Kid Hungry, a charity organization that helps provide free school lunches to children in America.
(oh, and in case you're someone who already owns Clip Studio, I can confirm you CAN just give the license key to someone else, which is what I did LMAO)
This isn't a sponsored post or anything btw I just had a blast making charcoal art in it and I'm super hyped to play around with all the other tools it has to offer, it's full of a lot of fun secrets that I'm still unearthing (•̀ᴗ•́)و

what do you use for your art? ❤️
Tumblr media
Hello person~ I hope you don't mind a lot of info dumping instead of a short answer. XD
For 90% of my art (the digital stuff) I use Paint Tool Sai 2, and a Wacom Intuos Pro medium.
Here's my brush settings in Sai, and I have my stabilizer on 10.
Tumblr media
I prefer Sai because I haven't found any other program that does lines as good. And since lineart is my favorite part of drawing I stick with Sai even though it doesn't have all those fancy custom brushes like other programs. Sai is also pretty cheap compared to other programs (like 50-60 usd one time payment).
I do have Clip Studio EX, which I use for anything Sai doesn't work for. I use CSP instead of Photoshop because I find subscription based programs to be bullshet, and I also just like CSP's interface and feel more. CSP also tends to go on sale quite often. (I do acknowledge that professional artists in the industry need to know how to use photoshop to survive, but I am a decided hobbyist and do not care about industry standards |P )
I also picked up digital art back when screen drawing tablets didn't exist, and have gotten so used to not seeing my hand when I draw that I actually struggle with screen tablets X'D My hand is in the way, I can't see.
For traditional art I just use whatever sketchbook I've been given and like or can tolerate the paper texture of. Then my main tool pack is this:
Tumblr media
I do have prisma colored pencils, a few alcohol markers, and some water color markers. But I hardly use them because I'm too scared to color my traditional art X'DDD
I also use SketchUp to help with backgrounds.
And of course there's my right hand, and about 19 years of obsessive practice X'DD

Thank you so much!!
For the Tallulah drawing I used Krita! I really love their default brushes so its what I mainly use for my illustrations at the moment!

What art program do you use.
For drawing I use photoshop and clip studio paint. I also recently got Adobe after effects to try to elevate my videos, but I don't know if it will be a long term thing. Recording my tablet screen has done well enough for me over the years haha

Hello! Been following for a while now and I love your art! It really feels like it pops out and is so fluid. I was wondering how you keep your lineart so smooth and what program you use? (sorry if this is something you've answered before, Tumblrs search feature on blogs is terrible and never pops anything up)
Aww thank you!! Artblock and self consciousness is now only kicking my butt semi-regularly, still a bit shy to post actual, full pieces in seperate posts. I try to remember everybody is going at their own pace and I've come a long way since I started, but thank you for the kind words!! They're appreciated!
And wow my lineart looks smoother?? Honestly my lineart is one of the things I'm MOST self conscious of right now! I don't really have a particular method if I'm honest: I stick with the pen tool and then, before I start lining anything, I play around with how wide I want the brush to be. Depending on how much detail is in a piece the width of the brush can be between 6 or 10 but I never usually go over that
The program I use is FireAlpaca, yes I downloaded it cuz it has a funny name (and it's free-)
And don't worry if anything I'm kinda bad at tagging stuff, sometimes I just don't tag things period which in hindsight is really unhelpful to myself and others! For future reference I'll tag anything with art programme related questions as art tips and art program

My painting software of choice, Rebelle, is coming out with a new version! It's a really nice program, it's designed to imitate real paints- tools react to the texture of the paper you're using, oil paint can create thick layers of paint, watercolours flow and blend in real time and so on. Here's some random art I made with it as examples of what it can do:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You won't actually be able to use it until December the 14th, but they're selling it for an extremely steep discount- $30 for the pro edition, $20 for the standard (it goes up a bit in December, but will still be discounted for a few more days). Generally the base version is $90 and the pro $150 for comparison.
I'd strongly recommend getting the pro version; Rebelle 7 is introducing a metallic paint system that isn't available in the basic version, and it also has the Pigments system, which is one of the main reasons I like it over other programs. When it's turned on, it allows colours to blend more like the would irl, which overall creates much nicer colours:

If it sounds interesting to you, here's the link!

you use FireAlpaca too?! there are dozens of us! dozens!
I do!! I’ve been using it since I first got a drawing tablet. I know I could always try learning another one like Clip Studio or Photoshop but I just love how simple and familiar it is haha XD

What program do you use to paint? Looks cool!
I currently use Krita!
It's a free art program that you can download, and you can also make animations on there as well (I would recommend looking at a video to understand how that works bc I couldn't at first)
Tumblr media
In all honesty it reminds me of the Microsoft art program they used to have back in the early 2000's when computers were big and chunky-
There are a lot of features you can use on here to help yourself learn the basics on here (again, highly recommend watching different videos for support bc some of these things I couldn't understand myself-)
A good example would be one of the lucifer pics I made a month ago with my current workspace-
Tumblr media
Each layer shown has it's own place to make that glorious man, from lineart to simple colors to highlights and shadows and even my signature (still trying to figure out how to make a brush for that-)
overview is a good thing for me because I am always doing something wacky or different out of curiosity and usually it never turns out that great, so I use it often to be sure whether or not it looks good.
Brush presets (which I can't remember if that's in the default or not-) are very helpful, especially when you want to use different brush packs from the default set and/or you want to add new brushes to use. e.g. I use the first brush (the one in blue) as my sketching brush, and the other brush (The one that's white) as my lineart tool. These are below:
Tumblr media
You can download these brush packs as well as other kinds of brush packs if you search krita brushes (Do note some are paid brushes so check beforehand!)
To get this program you can just search up krita program, and you'll find the download option on the first link:
