Flowers flowers and more flowers cause it's finally starting to feel like SPRING

This started as something else, but then I wanted to draw flowers and it turned into a sort-of art nouveau... thing. I sketched it over a week ago and promptly got horrendously sick, so I just finished today now that I'm feeling mostly better.

The air was thick with the scent of emotional turmoil. Bucky swore he could taste it at the back of his throat, bitter and unyielding.

It was the longest his partner had been silent since they’d moved in together, and it was… unnerving, to say the least. The loss added to the hollow feeling that had settled in his chest.

Usually, they balanced each other out in that way.

Tony was constantly chatting and Bucky thought it was the most endearing thing, content to listen to his Omega talk for hours. Especially about his passions. It made his face and everything about him light up beautifully.

Bucky on the other hand was quiet and more reserved. The strong silent type. When he did talk it was obvious Bucky was an observant and insightful person, who never missed much.

It had been almost funny to Tony back then, meeting an Alpha who actually listened to other people and didn’t try to take charge of every conversation.

A/N: Draco is a transwomen, who chooses to transition and keep her birth name.

Before Harry’s eyes, Draco had shattered like broken glass. She’d told Harry something she had suspected about herself for a long time but had repressed, until she couldn’t anymore. That she was a woman. Harry’s love never wavered and he saw her blossom, able to express herself and embrace her womanhood. It unlocked a lightness in Draco, as though she could finally breathe.

Lightly, Harry would brush his fingers through Draco’s growing hair and admire her painted lips. She found a new way to show Harry how much she loved him, by leaving a kiss imprint on his cheek. He didn’t have the heart to wipe it off.

Oh. Harry was hardly able to get out much else when he’d first seen Draco in a dress. The dress looked gorgeous on her, but… it was Draco’s blinding smile that had his heart almost bursting out of his chest. Hopelessly, he’d fallen even more in love.

Obedience… Draco couldn’t stomach that anymore. She could still picture her father’s expression—Harry wished he’d seen it too—when she told him, “This is who I am and I’m not hiding for your, or anyone else’s benefit anymore.” And completely set herself free.

More than anything, Draco finally felt at peace with herself and while Harry would always be her home, she’d made her body a home too.

Glass Bonds

written for the drarry discord drabble challenge january 2022, for the prompt “glass”, wc 222. art restriction: art nouveau 

They scheduled the bonding months in advance. A private event, just Harry and Draco and the bonding specialist, the day they return from their honeymoon.

They land in the portkey arrivals and head straight to the Bonding Division, still dressed for the Greek sun.

Linked hands, a spell, a ribbon of light.

Mind Bonds are delicate. If it doesn’t take…well, they’ll be hard pressed to find someone willing to try again. No one wants to mess with mind magic. The first 24 hours is crucial, when it will either cement, link them together. Or shatter, like glass; one wrong move and it’s in pieces.

It was Draco’s idea to do the bonding after the holiday; as stress-free as they’d ever be and an extra day to be joined at the hand before work. What wasn’t accounted for was the waiting owls. The emergency summons for Unspeakable Malfoy.

Harry feels Draco’s stress levels spike—feels through the bond, which is bizarre and incredible and also worrisome because the bond is fragile. 

Harry braces for this new miraculous connection to be extinguished.

Draco looks at the letter, looks at Harry, then shrugs, a strange feeling like mental laughter passing through the bond.

“You may as well come. I doubt I’ll be able to keep it a secret from you much longer now that we’re bonded.”

Waving Through A Window

Around him there’s nothing. In front of him, there’s a window looking out at the world. It’s broken, he thinks, but he doesn’t know if he’s thinking about the glass pane or the world outside. Long ago, a bullet shot through right here, leaving cracks spreading from a small circle. It’s reminding him of a spider’s web.

Harry moves a hand forward, puts it on the glass. No condensation appears because he’s just as cold as everything else. Freezing. Alone.

A headlight shines through the room, a moment of brightness. It creates a beam that splits in the cracks. A rainbow reaching into the broken world, catching a pair of grey eyes. He recognises who they belong to, and he waves. Smiles, and wishes. Wishes his beloved Draco would come inside and he wouldn’t be alone anymore.

The second passes quickly at the same time as it feels like it lasts forever and when it’s over he’s just as alone again, gazing out into the darkness outside. He wishes he could go outside, but the door’s locked. He wishes someone would save him, but no one ever sees him through the broken window.

Around him there’s nothing. On the other side of the glass, there’s everything. He looks up at the sky, watches the stars, and wishes that Draco would come inside.

Harry discovered the real me. Eventually.

Beneath the sneers and snark, the cruel quips and jabs. Behind the carefully constructed walls guarding my hardened heart.

I did not make it easy, but Harry assumed the arduous task with an annoying tenacity befitting a Gryffindor and the crafty determination of a Slytherin. Brick by brick, my aloof exterior broke down to reveal a sensitive soul and fragile ego. Years of cowering and conforming yielded to freedom of self never obtainable before.

And I looked good!

Better than good. Majestic. Breathtaking. Sumptuous.

Carding my fingers through my fine blonde hair, I surveyed my reflection and swished the weightless Eau de Nil fabric around my fit frame.

A dark and eager face appeared over my shoulder.

“It’s beautiful on you, dear,” Harry murmured, baritone voice like melting honey, and placed a chaste kiss on my sinewy shoulder.

No other could make me simultaneously vulnerable and confident. No other was afforded the privilege of glimpsing the juxtaposition.

Leaning back against Harry’s solid chest, I shivered in anticipation as a tenuous golden strap — guided by Harry’s graceful fingertips — slid down my shoulder. The digits floated along my eggshell flesh, goosebumps trailing in their fiery wake.

Thousands of fluttering snitches erupted in my chest, sending a cascade of desire coursing through every inch of my body.
