GAHHHHH i survived my first week of college !!

it helps to purposefully make some unserious-low-expectations-zero-correct-anatomy art cause either you’ll get to laugh at it later or it actually turns out kinda cool

there's this really beautiful art of an asari in an ombre dress that I think had like gold trim or something. high fashion stuff.

despite having god tier quality I have never been able to find it again.

it was soooo gorgeous. I think it was part of some like community art fashion event. it kills me that I'll probably never see it again.

That feeling when you look at your artstyle and it doesn't feel right anymore so you spend ages and ages studying other peoples artstyles to see of you can put them into yours in a desperate hope to like your artstyle again but then you're too scared that the person will see and get really upset that you used their artstyle so you revert back to your old one leaving you stuck in an endless loop

Damn, I used to have only one ship I actively created for and now I have three ships at the same time... And a million ideas!! I need help :'D I have so many LawRusso wips (and I keep sketching ideas instead of finishing XD) I have Jally wips and many more ideas and I haven't drawn them even close to enough, and now I am having a clown crisis!!! (I just had started to actively draw Akabuggy when Cobra Kai suddenly happened and fully occupied me but now with the OPLA and Buggy being so beyond perfect and the Cobra Kai/TKK fandom becoming more and more quiet, my urge to draw my captain is stronger than ever :'3)

Have any of y’all ever known those swim instructors that just throw kids in the deep end saying that that’s how the kid will learn?

If you don’t, I am gonna be that swim instructor to myself. Except I’m not swimming, I’m trying to learn how to draw.

So from this day forth I’m going to practice drawing or sketching or lineart (bro idk what it is ok) for AT LEAST 3 hours a week, with each drawing have a max upper limit of 1 hour (min limit of 25 mins).

Got that? Good.

Now some rules/procedure for myself:

Think of something to draw, if you can’t then use a random word generator or something

Search the topic on Pinterest and draw the first interesting thing you find

It’s not stealing (stop guilting/overthinking into not drawing)

If you can credit the picture then credit, if you can’t it’s ok stop stressing so much ffs

If you’re stuck JUST FUCKING TRACE IT.

Use a bloody grid it’ll help you visualise everything much better

You’re not a professional artist. You don’t even want to make money this way. You just want to draw fanart. Stop being so harsh on yourself.

Post the stuff you make over here (or on kara?) if you don’t you won’t be motivated.

Unrelated but MAKE A LIST OF THE AMVS YOU WANNA MAKE, YOU DONT HAVE A MIND PALACE TO STORE THIS SHIT.

Make the canvas the same size as the reference pic, I think it’ll confuse you less ok.

Lofi Cali Girl - beats to relax/study to during the climate change apocalypse. Lots of people have messaged me with well wishes for the LA fires. I'm lucky enough to live in a different part of California (in the SF bay area) so please do not worry about me. I do used to live in LA and have a lot of friends who live there still. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy. For the people whose houses did not burn down, they still surfer from horrendous air quality caused by the fires. The house I lived in during my teenage years is right next to the Eaton Fire, and it's so scary to think about the what ifs. I painted the Lofi Cali Girl drawing during the 2020 wildfires that affected the SF Bay Area and turned the sky red. Since then, I repost this every time another disastrous fire ravages my state. Small wildfires are a normal part of the CA landscape, but these mega fires are not. These are caused by climate change. For the 2020 fire, it was a dry lightning storm that ignited over 2000 wildfires in the middle of our dry summer. For those not familiar with California's climate, we almost never get lightning storms, especially not in the summer. For the 2025 LA fire, it was caused by a dry winter when we would normally get winter rains, and by 100mph wind that spread the fires faster than anyone can put out. This is not normal, and no amount of controlled burns or regular fire prevention could have prevented this. This is just the beginning of the climate change disasters. Some people say this is the new normal, but the reality is things will only get progressively worse. Whatever "new normal" you think this is, just know it will be even worse next year, and every year after. What can you actually do to help the most? For Americans, it would be vote for climate friendly policies and politicians. The 2024 election just ended with a grim outlook for our climate future, but don't give up. There are local elections, and the 2026 midterm elections for House and Senate. All of these can make a real lasting impact on the future of our planet, our one and only home.
