1. The movie costumes were designed by a team that is almost exclusively men, notably a guy called Anthony Francisco. If you scroll back through his instagram a bit, you’ll get to a whole lot of concept art for the Doras, like this:
Tumblr media
2.  That drawing you’re using to shame the comic book designer isn’t a drawing by the comic book designer. It’s by a guy called Paul Pelletier who drew them in an issue of Fantastic Four (#547). The Dora Milaje were created by a writer named Christopher Priest and an artist named Mark Texiera for a new Black Panther series in 1998, but their conception of them was very different. For starters, there were only 2 of them, Okoye & Nakia, and they didn’t have uniforms. The Doras were expanded into a uniformed military group in 2005 by a writer named Reginald Hudlin and the legendary comic book artist John Romita, Jr. Here is a drawing by Romita:

Prrrrretty much the movie version.
I’m all for calling out sexism in superhero design. You could write several books on it. But this post is misinformation and it’s indirectly shitting on one of my artistic heroes and it’s bumming me out.

Top Cow Tomb Raider Scarface's Treasure Cover 1-A
Writer: Geoff Johns
Artist: Mark Texeira
Colours: Beth Sotelo
Lettering: Robin Spehar, Dreamer Design
Cover Art: Mark Texeira
Release: July 16th 2003
Released by Dynamic Forces on 16th July 2003[1], this cover was painted by Mark Texiera. It is also the regular comic cover for this story. There are two similar cover variants with 6 covers in total for this story. It is limited to 5000 copies worldwide.
Interestingly, this comic was one of four comics sold together as a Tomb Raider [The Cradle of Life] Pre-Movie Special Mega-Set[2] for the price of $10 from the official Dynamic Forces website.
Surprisingly, this cover is harder to get hold of than this cover. There appears to be only one worldwide shipping listing on eBay, sold as part of a set of other Tomb Raider comics, at the price of $9.99. The Dynamic Forces website was originally selling this item for $5.00.

"Homecoming" was changed editorially into something far too gentle for the Hellraiser universe, and into something disappointingly unrecognizable from the script I turned in, so I don't really consider it something I wrote, but I'm still pretty pleased with the other too stories. I really dug getting to play with Clive Barker's creations and had even written a tie in comic detailing the origins of the lament configurations (the deadly puzzle boxes) and further three stories which never saw print because the series was cancelled before they could be run. I'd love to be able to return to Hellraiser some day.
From <https://johnrozum.blogspot.com/2011/11/hellraiser-masterpieces.html>
The first of the stories I wrote for this series, "Homecoming," was also the first narrative comic book story I wrote for publication. I worked really hard to make it tight, seamless, and brutal, only to see something published which represented the story I turned in only in the most superficial level, completely removing the brutal ending and replacing it with one of redemption and responsibility.
The Cenobite in my story, was really a cenobite pet, who escapes hell, and his masters, and heads home to the family he left on earth decades ago. This pet was taken to hell as a child, because his older brother sacrificed him to the Cenobites rather than go himself, as was supposed to happen. When the cenobites come to retrieve their pet, they demand to take the older brother back as well for their trouble. In my version the older brother surrenders his young son instead, remaining a coward and never taking responsibility for his actions. In the altered version, he owns up for what he has done and goes along himself.
I was pissed, and disowned the story after this, despite some lovely art by Mark Texiera. I later wondered if maybe my script, being my first was bad and required the changes, but having found it in my files years later, so that it still held up, and remains stronger than what saw print.
My next story fared a lot better, though I had to fight for it.

Gray Morrow died of a self inflicted gunshot. He suffered from Parkinson's disease. Morrow was nominated for the Hugo Award for best professional artist in 1966,[30] 1967,[31] and 1968.
