My medical alert tag arrived!  It’s pretty important for doctors to know that my internals are not exactly factory-standard if they have to go digging around in there and I can’t communicate.  A less dire concern is that getting buckled tightly to an ambulance stretcher with an ostomy bag in the wrong spot could end up making a bit of a mess.  I whipped together a quick paracord bracelet, as I wait patiently for @armoreddragon​ to have enough free time that I won’t feel bad about commissioning a proper chainmail one.

Best practice dictates putting a couple of ICE (In Case of Emergency) phone numbers on my tag,  Using MOM and DAD instead of ICE isn’t exactly standard, but they convey more information in the same space and I bet the EMT scraping me off the sidewalk would get a kick out of it.

Yu-Gi-Oh Armored Dragons Playmat

It's the first bit of my d&d party! Bee has done an AMAZING job and we are absolutely thrilled with these portraits. Top to bottom, we have:

Ninazut'ishpak'adaderrak'al Martush'a'lanumush'damar'duk, or "Pak" for short, played by @corsetbitch. She was a sailor from a remote island who became a legionary and ended up in a shipwreck. Much to her surprise, she washed ashore as a Tempest Cleric. She has a -1 to Religion and as far as she's concerned, the core tenant of her faith is "chickenshits don't get beer." Even in her military uniform, she wore a few keepsakes from her home island. Mostly human, with just enough elf to show in the ears

Bolek Zhivkov, played by @armoreddragon. He's a very fancy lad from a proud lineage of draconic bloodline sorcerers, hence the scales. The Zhivkovs are old money, an extremely influential draconic family in a powerful merchant city. They wish Bolek would stick to a proper political education instead of wasting time trying to actually develop his magical talents. The weird vision he had of a dragon in an ice storm is probably nothing. Refused to smile for his portrait session. Human, but for the scales.

Igthok Ganuk-Makanuk, played by @erosser1629. They're a goliath from up north who came to the big city to learn magic. They went to university to become a Wizard in the Order of Scribes, but they've been frustrated by the rigid necromancy-focused curriculum. They had a bit of trouble fitting in, quite literally. The school doesn't get many eight foot tall students and they couldn't find a big enough bed. Insatiably curious and determined to learn everything about everything, especially the things they've been explicitly forbidden from studying.

Not yet shown are Squeak, our kenku druid, our human paladin, Stand-Fast-Before-The-Walls ("Standfast" for short), and Llewella Brisk, our verling ranger (homebrew race! She's like a tiefling, but of the Feywild).

The paladin is a noble warrior. His blessed armor protects him from harm, and his holy vows help him resist the temptations of sin. Those who receive his aid in battle are assured of victory, but those who meet him afterwards consider themselves the truly lucky.

I made this suit of armor for the Magic Meat March challenge (delayed to May this year), which is about putting men into the sorts of costumes that fantasy women get drawn in. Check out other people’s stuff over @magicmeatmarch​!

In place of a standard breastplate, this one is built in the form of a corset, providing protection and support while shaping and accentuating your profile. The pauldrons connect to the codpiece with a harness arrangement of straps, tying them together into one cohesive piece, supporting the necessaries and accentuating the assets. The greaves stand on their own.

I made everything by hand–cut, burnished, tooled, shaped, dyed, painted, sealed, and riveted together. The corset-breastplate and codpiece I designed from scratch–you can see a progression of the corset design here. The pauldrons (shoulders) and greaves (shins) I built from patterns by Prince Armory, partly because of time constraints, and partly because I wanted to see how other designers dealt with those pieces. (The greaves I was really impressed by, the pauldrons restrict movement more than I’d like, which was a problem I hadn’t been able to solve previously either.)

This is the most ambitious armor project I’ve tackled so far, both in scope and design, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out! I’m looking forward to making a few more pieces to go with this set in the coming months.
