Now we know that Shadow was ON EARTH when he lived with Maria before the incident, this makes much more plausible sense in the movie timeline!

I can totally see Movie Maria eagerly pleading with Gerald, Walters, anyone she needed to, to let her and Shadow go bowling for a day <3

This mentioning the '74 tournament specifically also means that's the same year Shadow was put in stasis. What I'm guessing was a pretty fun day out for the two could've been weeks or days before everything changed....

Okay, so in Sonic X Shadow Generations, Maria is confirmed to have a sister!

In your universe— Shadow finds out about Maria’s living sister. What does he do??? Does Aurora encourage him to reach out to her?? Does she go with him?? Or is he simply trying to move on from all of that and doesn’t want to even touch it?

I’m currently writing a fic about all this (except it’s Sonadow), but my heart has such a special place for Shadow and Aurora, and it’s gotten me so dang curious as to how they’d handle this!

When I first read that interaction in Sonic X Shadow Generations, my immediate thought was "What would Shadow do with this information???" as well! Did he always know about the sister or is this his first time learning about her? Would he want to meet her?

This is my own opinion, but to be completely honest I don't think Shadow would feel compelled to meet Maria's sister. His bond was with Maria and so I don't think he'd believe that Maria's sister can fill that void or answer any questions he may still have about Maria. Also by the end of SXSG, Shadow seems to be making an effort to move forward, so I don't think trudging in the past would be of interest to him at this point. Again, these are all personal opinions!

As far as my AU, even if Maria's sister is still alive, she'd be very old by the time Shadow and Aurora are an item. Let's say she was just a baby when Maria and Shadow were on the Ark, she'd be at least in her mid-to-late 70s by the time Shadow and Aurora even meet. This sister knows nothing of Maria's life on the Ark and probably doesn't want to talk about losing her sister, and you also run the risk of the sister blaming Shadow for Maria's death. I could see that taking an absolute turn for the worst. So I just personally don't think it's for anyone's benefit for her and Shadow to meet up.

But as far as Aurora's opinion on the matter, she'd be super supportive of whatever Shadow wants to do. If he was even toying with the idea of meeting Maria's sister, Aurora would be 100% on board and be willing to go with him for moral support if that would best help him. But if he was completely disinterested, that's not something she would pressure him to do. She likes to get him out of his comfort zone but not to the detriment of his mental health.

I'm working on a video going over the Splatoon story, and trying to nail down a solid time when the Ark Polaris crashed into earth. Log.exe is frustratingly really vague about it, and I was wondering if some specific wording might have been changed in translation/localization, and maybe the original Japanese text is a little bit clearer?

Here is my retranslation of Log.exe. I made this because there are a few differences between localization and JP! ... Some annoying differences at that LOL

From how i understand it, the ark Polaris had a more distant, stable orbit around earth for 10000 years. Over the span of the next 2000 years after that, the Polaris slowly gets closer and closer to earth until earth's gravity takes it in. Thus the Ark Polaris crashes to earth after 12000 years, so around the modern day in the splatoon world.

I dont think we'll get an exact time be it if it crashed, whether it was shortly before Splatoon 2 era, splatoon 1 era, or even years before that. The way i see it, that rough 12000 years= most likey sometime in the 2010s mollusk era considering the time Splatoon the Game was released. Or some time after the year 2000 of the mollusk era if we wanna be lenient when working with such a large time scale

... im honestly fine with the exact crash time being uncertain because it gives room for me to imagine it took some years for grizz to properly go insane, and for grizzco to be established and get a foothold in the inkling world... rather than if the ship were confirmed to have crashed in say, 2017, and everything happening in a few months. That's just me though.

Might be more of a headcanon but if Shadow can swim, how did he get that "skill"?

Would it be something programmed with his creation or something he learned naturally when on earth? I don't imagine the Ark had swimming pools?

I think they would have had pools on the ARK, partly for his training. He was suppose to go to Earth as the ultimate weapon, they surely taught him to swim.

A HC of mine is that they had a small central hub area with a little nature section that helped with water purification and oxygen production, apart from the gas/water import. Maybe some kind of CO2 reclaim too.

If anything, swimming might have been one of the few fun activities Maria could do as she got sicker. It's thought the lower gravity of space helped with her NIDS, according to the wiki. I think Gerald would have built her one, regardless of what he was allowed to do, and Shadow would make a perfect lifeguard for her and the other kids on the ARK. :)
