Given how much of a dick he can be, I am surprised there isn't an adaptation with apollo as the main villain.

There is so much potential to make him a morally complex charming villain the only time I saw it being done is with “Arion” anime movie

Big dude was at Stenshuvud National Park, teeny weeny was on my strawberry grown in Scania, so both from the south of Sweden.

Bonus fearless silverfish in the breakroom at work.

I am obsessed with both of them wow. 10/10 really nice. They're slugs rather than snails but I think some languages (must assume Swedish is one of them) don't make a distinction between the two. The first is a black slug, Arion ater, but obviously I can't tell what the second one is due to the very very very very very tiny size. Also a really nice silverfish!

“These paintings are from a series of eight works that Bouguereau painted for a Parisian home decorated in the style inspired by ancient Roman wall paintings found at Pompeii.

The ancient Greek poet Arion escaped pirates by fleeing on the back of a sea creature attracted by the poet's singing. In the companion picture, a bacchante, a female follower of the Roman god Bacchus, rides a panther and carries a pinecone-tipped spear called a thyrsus. The figures are silhouetted against a gold honeycomb-patterned background evoking ancient Roman mosaics Bouguereau had studied in Italy. The soft, waxy flesh tones and glimmering gold leaf were calculated to come to life when viewed under the mansion's gas lighting.”

Oh my goodness, this vintage looks amazing! Alongside CLAMP's RG Veda, this anime seems to capture that classic, dark, gritty sword and sorcery feeling we find in Robert E Howard's stories. I like how they researched authentic ancient Greek culture and costumes where were much more colourful and interesting than the neo classical aesthetic they'd inspire.
