which is why this is new. unusual, even for simon.

he picked you up from your dorms just like he said, although you were surprised to see him roll in on his bike. he never let you on his bike, always choosing his car when picking you up. you fooled yourself into thinking it was for your safety, that it was for your own good, but you've seen simon bring dates on his bike.

you've seen how he's always brought extra helmets for the pretty dolls he proudly flaunted around whenever your parents invited friends for parties and dinners, possessive arm curled around their waist like he wants to brand his claim on them. or how he's always ignored you when they're around, his attention so sinfully glued to his dates like a man starved of affection. or how he'll sit back and watch as they pat your head and pinch your cheeks because, “well, aren't you a sweetheart?”

simon's bikes are reserved for the people he brings home. people he fucks. so it was never extended towards you. never something you had the privilege to, until tonight apparently.

“simon?” you asked, hesitating to climb up behind him.

simon grunted, twisting until he could see you and you watch yourself from the visor – wide eyes and tensed shoulders – as simon tipped his head down just enough to study the way your pretty dress fluttered as the wind blew. you did not hear it but you've seen the way his chest moved as he sighed. instantly, you felt like a bother, and you curled further into yourself as though it could hide you from his knowing eyes.

he lifted himself from his bike before turning to walk towards you. you averted your eyes from him even though his visor was still up – yet another wall that kept you away from him – before seeing scuffed boots stop just in front of you.

“look up f'r me, kid.”

you did as he told, your eyes flicking up and peering through your lashes. simon's still helmeted, still distancing himself from you, and you wondered what sick power play was he trying to accomplish.

you twisted your fingers together, waiting, obedient – just like how he wants them – even when you simmered in the heavy silence, until simon began to strip his jacket off.

you felt lightheaded, your throat parched with a sudden thirst at seeing the inked arms you have been shamefully daydreaming about. he has a new tattoo, you realized as you trailed curious glances over the fresh ink but not able to properly see it for what it was.

simon huffed a laugh and you startled, blinking up at him again only to realize that he's moved so close – closer than what he's ever allowed before. you stammered on your words, glossy lips parting in surprise, but simon remained unmoved by your clear interest and began to tie his jacket around your waist in silence, tucking your skirt underneath and securing the sleeves tightly.

“there,” he said, his voice a muffled rumble. “now y'r ready for the ride.”

you trembled at the sinking reality; that what had been daydreams and wishful thinking were now laid before you. you bit your lip to stop a sniffle because there simon was, holding your hand throughout as he hefted you on his bike. you felt overwhelmed with the intensity of your affections, trailing your eyes away from him again when he fixed a spare helmet on your head. you jolt when he snapped the visor down, and simon laughed, a pretty muffled sound.

you watched as he climbed in front of you, shaking hands unsure as they held onto his hips. simon, of course, noticed.

“y've gotta hold on tighter, sweet girl,” he said before tugging at your hands and wrapping them around himself. you bit down a broken squeal, feeling jumpy now that you're actually touching him. the purr of his engine blanketed your spiralling thoughts and you held him tighter when he drove off.

“why, aren't you a bonnie lass?” johnny, the one who had been too excited at meeting you, says before snorting when it makes simon wrap his arm around you tighter, pulling you ever so closer to him. “and big man's too possessive, isn't he?”

simon grunts from beside you, taking over when you continued to blink at him in shocked silence. “well, y'said it already, johnny.” you freeze when you feel his lips press on the top of your head. “my girl's too pretty, it's making me greedy.”

your breath hitches, your fingers twitching in phantom desire to fist at your dress if only to ground yourself. my girl, simon said, the lies slipping past his lips easily. my girl, he told his friends as though it is the truth. as though you could ever be.

simon’s hand glides down to your hips, squeezing the flesh, and it makes you squeak. both him and johnny croon, flashing matching grins at each other like you’re not there, while simon’s other friends – kyle, the youngest, and john, the one with a storm hidden in his eyes – snicker to each other.

“little mousy, isn’t she?” john asks, the rumble of his voice stark even amidst the booming music filling up the packed space of the bar.

simon hums, still caressing your hip, his hand occasionally dipping towards the side of your thigh, teasing the hems of your dress, before tugging upwards again.

“she is and it’s endearin’,” simon replies, still continuing the facade. because what else could it be?

simon had given you bits of his attention, entertaining you just enough that you keep running after him and chasing the softness you know he has, but he’s never given more. not an honest touch nor a whisper of affection.

so this – whatever this is – makes you tremble. it makes you ache.

you cross your legs together, squeezing just enough to put pressure in your throbbing core. the action was smooth, almost unnoticeable, and it should’ve been, but simon’s trained eyes catch the movement anyway.

he lets out a quiet groan, the sound bundled around a tinge of pleasure as he presses his lips on the top of your head again. you gasp at having been caught, bright eyes flicking up to see if his friends had noticed but johnny’s body is already turned towards a pretty brunette and kyle is tapping on his phone and-

john’s eyes are on you.

there is a moment when you are reduced to cold dread and static, lost in the smoke hidden within john’s eyes and simon’s possessive touch, before the band snaps and by then, you are on your feet. the action causes the empty beer bottles to clatter against the table which snag the attention of johnny and kyle, but you ignore them all as you sidle away from simon’s side, batting away his outstretched hand, before bolting towards the washroom.

you feel like a fool. like a doll made to entertain their sick and twisted games because that is what it is, isn’t it? simon got too bored with his dates and decided to string you along – someone easy. someone desperate for all he can give.

your eyes blur as tears pool and you barely make it to the bathroom when a hand curls around your wrist, yanking you away from the door.

“kid, stop-”

“no!” you scream, whirling around to look at simon. big and beautiful and not-yours simon. “i’m tired of playing your sick games, si. get away from me!” you try to shake him off even though you know it is futile.

simon continues to stare down at you, his lips pinched in disappointment – a look you are too familiar with.

and it’s that which makes you cry, a broken sob ripping from your throat and into the space between you two. you had hoped at least that the loud bass booming across the bar could drown it out, but you hear your whimper ring amidst the noise. jesus.

simon continues staring. continues to be silent. you don’t know how much more of this you can take.

(more. gods, you can take more as long as he allows you. as long as he is in your life. you know whatever this is between you and simon have long sizzled into something toxic. something codependent. but you need him, no matter how twisted he’s become because simon indulges you, anyway.

you remember the quickies in the bathrooms. the rumble of, “y’r doin’ so good f’r me, sweet girl,” whispered on the top of your head as he fucks his fingers into you. the marking, the nipping. the praises. the growled, “y’r only mine, aren’t you, pretty?” when he licks along your slit.

simon gives in a way that teases the yawning in your soul. in a way that carves more of himself into your very being. so how could you let go? how could you move on?)

and simon stays silent, backing away just enough to tug you out of the bar and towards his bike. your lips wobble but you do not ask again, not when you know you can’t come back with him to his place.

from time to time though, he definitely still wants to leave parties with girls

however,, i also don't think he'd leave reader at a party bc he knows that being left in that kind of environment would stress out/hurt reader more than him sleeping with someone, if that makes sense?? it's also not generally safe to leave your friend at a party, especially if they've been drinking, so i think he'd be a little too protective/aware to just leave reader there

so, from time to time, he does leave parties with other girls, but not before asking someone he really trusts to take care of reader,, i feel like once he gets close to oliver, he usually asks oliver to get you back to your room safe oliver is definitely messy about this and tries to make reader insecure as subtly as possible lmao,, but that's a whole other thing

let's not get it twisted tho!! if reader so much as implies she's genuinely upset about something or seems like she needs his undivided attention, that is the priority!! i feel like he's walked away from a potential hook up bc reader needed/wanted something 😭

Is flabbergasted pt.1 and he gets as red as a tomato. Inmediately begins screaming "Off with your head" and is only stopped when Ace and Deuce run towards you both and try to explain the situation.

He gets more relaxed now knowing that's just how people back in your world greet eachother, but please, don't do it in front of everyone again, or at least without warning him, Cater took a picture and posted it on magicam and Trey teased him for it. Apparently both of them knew and were eager to see his reaction.

Low-key really embarassed the rest of the unbirthday party, he can't stop thinking about it. Riddle makes a mental reminder to ask more about your culture now, just in case you surprise him out of nowhere again.

Also finds out about the hugging aspect when you two were studying for finals, when you hugged him excitedly when you passed a test thanks to his tutoring. He gets red again, but doesn't do anything to stop you from hugging him. Riddle can get used to it, but he won't probably ask for hugs unless you both are in a relationship, so ask him out already.

★ LEONA KINGSCHOLAR

Leona, for once, decided to eat at the cafeteria since Ruggie was sick that day and couldn't bring him his lunch. He sat alone on one table and nobody dared to approach him because if looks could kill, everbody that dared look at the housewarden would drop dead. That was until you spotted him and went to greet him. The whole cafeteria got dead silent when they saw you giving him a kiss on the cheek. THE Leona Kingschoalr being KISSED by the magicless human.

I know I made headcanons of Azul being chilean, but Yana Toboso hasn't made it canon (smh octavinelle being latino in canon when) so I'll go with how he would react in canon.

Azul invited you to Mostro Lounge to taste the new menu he carefully planned as a way of raising the daily income. He greeted you at the entrance with Floyd and Jade behind him, when you suddenly gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Flabbergasted pt.2, give him a moment, he needs to sort out his thoughts. What just happened. Did the prefect just kiss him on the cheek out of nowhere? This wasn't part of the plan.

Jade interrupts his thoughts when he starts laughing at him, and Azul goes back to the real world and demands at explanation at you over what you just did.

He is still flustered even after you explain that's just a custom back in your world, but has to compose himself for the sake of the rest of the customers that are staring at him. He won't mention it again the rest of his life, unless you greet him like that the next time. Needless to say, Azul got teased by the tweels after who just wouldn't let it go.

Azul is also very flustered when you hug him out of nowhere when he helps you out with an assigment "on the house". Is this also a custom of your country? It is? Oh, he's a little dissapointed you "don't mean it" in a romantic way, since he's been interested in you for a while. Just don't hug him in front of Jade and Floyd, because: (1) They will make fun of him (2) Floyd will squeeze you.

★ KALIM AL-ASIM

Kalim organized a huge party celebrating that he passed his finals exams and every dorm was invited, which meant you were invited too. While Jamil was running around Scarabia trying to make sure everything was in the right place and making sure there was enough food, Kalim was waiting excitedly near the entrance for you to arrive.

When you arrived and gave him a kiss on the cheek, he stood there shocked for a second while Jamil had a heart attack right then and there. After like 5 seconds of Kalim thinking about what just happened, he gave you a kiss back and greeted you with the biggest smile you've ever seen. You didn't even explain what it meant, he just ran with it, excited that you gave him a kiss.

Kalim doesn't care whether it's a greeting or a romantic gesture, he's just happy you're here. He's whipped for you and will accept anything you give him. Jamil agressively disagrees, he is the heir of a wealthy family, someone could see this and misinterpret the situation, but Kalim doesn't care either way and will now greet you with a kiss on the cheek, if this makes you feel more at home then he will gladly do it!

He eagerly accepts your hugs, his love language is physical touch, so he's sooo happy when you hug him, even if it's out of nowhere. Give him all the hugs you want, no need to warn him. Kalim will make it an habit to surprise you with a hug from behind, be free to do it too!

The only one that isn't getting kissed in public. He invited you to his room to play this new videogame that just dropped. Idia had bought some snacks and brought some blankets so you wouldn't be cold when you suddenly arrived and kissed him. Idia.exe has stopped working.

Flabbergasted pt.3, he couldn't even utter the word "hello" he was going to say. He's literally that "what happened to hello? how are you? my name is?" audio on tiktok. He stands there looking at the wall behind you for around 2 minutes, in total silence. So you're both standing there in silence, even after you explain to him that it's a way of greeting someone where you come from.

Idia's soul probably left his body and had to come back because he just couldn't throw you out of his room to have a minute of self-reflection and to think about the meaning of the universe and why we're all here and-

His whole hair is pink and he just fiddles with his videogame controller the whole afternoon, only replying with short words. If you apologize to him he will get even MORE flustered and start panicking over what to do.

It's the same thing regarding hugs, his hair will turn pink and he will scream internally, give him 5 business days to recover, please. so yeah she lives up to 16 until she dies hospitalised because stuff got worse. but the hospital akabara works in works in a project that involves transferring human memories and personality and basically consciousness in a robot body (we aren't gonna talk about the fucked up things behind that) so himawari was the first ever success on their project. well. ''success'' because her engine persists various issues that cause her to run into Anomalies that may or may not be risky for someone else's life. also her primary energy source is real blood. totally donated from consenting patients

himawari's passion was always medical related stuff and she wanted to be a nurse ever since she was really young, so their priority for himawari's coding is try to get her to work as a nurse for the same hospital but we are also not going to talk about how wrong it goes. oh and also because she's Sleepy As Fuck she literally just sleeps while doing activities. and also himawari's conscious actively knows it's in a robot body but most of her activity is programmed by her engine so she still sometimes struggles to even eat with a fork 😭😭 BUT YEAG. Having a crush to a hero? So difficult man. However there's something about you that triggered something in him. Was it the friendly eyes you gave your colleagues? Was it that kind smile you gave to evey civilian you saved? I don't even know.

He did some research on you firstly. For sure he cannot approach you, as he's a very known villain. He denies the thought of the crush (and especially to a hero) like there's no tomorrow, but the more he avoids to face his feelings, the more they burn.

He eventually keeps an eye on you and tells his minions to not touch you at any cost, unless they want to turn to dust. He keeps fantasizing about a world where he can approach you, you aren't a hero and he isn't a villain. You're just two people who happen to meet and hugs his pillow to sleep at night pretending it's you.

The turth is that you make him hate heroes even more. In his mind, if your kind didn't even exist, he wouldn't have suffered this much and he wouldn't be a villain now. This crush of his is making him rethink of his decisions which hurts him even more as he doesn't like the way things are right now.

In the end, he just stays for the one sided love. He makes himself believe that in real life you're not what you look like, and prefers to keep the crush on the idea of you.

Maybe that's the best for him

When he'd attack, he'd do it in a way so he causes the chaos before the heroes would arrive. He's amazing at battling with that quirk of his, it just doesn't happen often.

However one day he was scaring off some civilians and you happened to pass by. You immediately recognized him. You had to save the civilians, of course.

Dabi though, isn't a normal villain after all. He managed to escape right under your nose, while you were ensuring the safety of the civilians and poof! He was gone.

Truth is that he didn't even think of you for some time. The first time he thought about you was when he was laying on the small bed in his room staring at his phone and his eyes caught your face on some article.

He then started analyzing your face for the first time noticing every detail he could through the screen. Of course he could've done that back when he first met you, if he didn't need to escape in order to get arrested.

He liked your appearance and as he kept trying to remember more details about you, he liked you even more. He'd never admit that, having a crush on a hero (and maybe generally having a crush). However one thing he'd never admit is how he lost his sleep after he realised he liked you. He tried of thinking you as a bad hero for letting him escape, but he failed.

He then started stalking you. Learning from your birth name to what kind of socks you prefer to wear. He was quite amazed. He was dreaming about you, but would hide it so so so much.

Eventually he pushes himself to fight his feelings for you. He tries to forget you and manages to put his feelings under control. Having a crush and especially on a hero, is hopeless.

Toga

Toga literally attacked you when she first met you.

"Come on you're so cute~" She said before you escaped her knife.

She literally likes you so much. Her sense of love is strong for you, even if it's you know, a bit twisted.

She keeps talking to the other members about you, to the point they're sick of hearing your name. But what else can they do?

She has a little diary and keeps drawing doodles of her and you (mostly her stabbing you but anyways, we don't talk about that). She even uses her favorite gel pens for that.

She tries to hunt you down for some time to confess to you but the guys stop her. They try to comfort her saying that a crush on a hero is stupid, but they fail miserably.

Toga cries herself to sleep many nights at the thoughts of you not reciprocating her feelings. She thinks the world is unfair that you can't even think of her that way because you're a hero.

She never actually gets over that crush on you but tries to keep it subtle, however you can find doodles of you two all over her notebook.

Twice

Twice had met them in a local bar he used to go for a while now. He approached them and introduced himself as Jin, and his extrovert self slowly was shown to them.

Truth is, he doesn't introduce himself like that to every person. He showed his bubbly personality to you from the start and even treated you some drinks that night.

He liked your company a lot. However he almost lost his colour when you told him you're a pro hero. He excused himself and explained that it mustve been the alcohol. That night he cried himself to sleep and had Toga comfort him.

His insecurities rise and the thoughts of you discovering he's a villain drive him insane. He thinks life is more unfair now. He cries to Toga about you who seems to be very understanding of the situation.

At some point though, he doesn't want to have Toga comfort him all the time so he just creates a clone of himself and talks to him about you (both clones eventually end up crying together)

Never stupid lmaooo😭 It's actually a fictional mystery/thriller novel! I totally recommend it, the plot twists had me balling for days😪 However, please beware it touches on some extremely heavy topics like child abuse/neglect/abandonment, PTSD, violence, sexual assault, sexualization of minors, homophobia, bullying, etc.

Some more on the book below the cut because it was actually life changing (NO SPOILERS):

Basically an overview: Claudia (The MC) is the only one who seems to notice or care that her best friend, Monday, is missing. So, she goes around looking for her and trying to put the pieces together. The pieces are a part of a sad ass puzzle and she uncovers a side of her best friend that she never knew existed, unfortunately, and the ending actually made me sick to my stomach. The only con I would mention is that the timeline is a little wonky with the way it's written but you get used to it a few chapters in.

I believe the author put out this book with the main intention of bringing more attention to missing black teens. It does touch on race theory and other race issues because of this but it's extremely eye opening. Of course, all missing children deserve to be looked for and found, but the author makes it clear that she is simply bringing attention to the fact that lots of kids of color go missing but because of where they may live (statistically being in more low-income, high risk, high crime communities) they aren't allocated as many resources when they go missing.

So, the book has stirred up a bit of controversy and it's also based on the true case of Mitchell Blair (An absolutely gut-wrenching case that actually gave me nightmares) and another similar case I believe.

I feel like I read a different book than everyone else. There are so many glowing reviews about this book, which is fine, I'm glad people are enjoying it because this book did not hit any marks for me. I'm just surprised because this honestly felt like a step down from her first series, All The Stars and Teeth. I read AtSaT and while I labeled it generic, it was very vividly descriptive and the pacing was good. While I didn't care enough to read its sequel, I looked forward to Belladonna because growth of writing, a character who sees spirits and Death itself, and a murder mystery.

Needless to say, I'm kind of disappointed.

The book starts off pretty well and I liked it up until Signa gets picked up to go to Thorn Grove manor. After that, it gets pretty boring and the pacing drags a lot. It yo-yos between Signa thirsting for every available man in her vicinity except those she's related to, trying to piece together a whodunit/who is still poisoning Blythe, her social debut and trying to be a lady, and Death and her apparent powers. It would be FINE if we could actually focus on bits for longer sections than a chapter here or there. Don't worry, Signa's thirsting takes the majority role.

The story is also entirely boring because it's incredibly easy to figure out several plot twists, within the first 15% of the book. I picked two suspects on the whodunit and I guessed correctly on the individual involved. There's no tension or worrying because by the time it starts getting serious you've either figured it out, and Signa's got the trump card of Death literally doing anything she asks including saving someone from dying.

There were also parts of the book that just felt... that just felt like I was being treated like I'm stupid? I don't know how else to explain it. When someone asks if Signa had been shown about the tunnels and like, she got there yesterday late in the day at a party who would have shown her?? When Signa was like "who could be up in the living quarters when there's a party around??" when she knows damn well there's a sick cousin. When she asks to find the grave of Lillian to Sylas.... after she was in the garden where the grave of Lillian was, and it's stated where she's buried plainly, and that's when they decide to solve Lillian's murder. There's other parts like that, and I don't know how to describe it but it's just like when you want to bash your head against something.

I didn't like Signa. I found her mostly annoying but I think that was just myself annoyed for a whole day. I do think she had way too many eye rolls for a MC for me to like her any. But mostly, I didn't like any of the characters. I found them mostly to be rude half the time. The only character I started to like was Blythe because she was really going through it. Charlotte was like the only nice character at all times but she was so bland at the same time.

How did Signa get her powers? How did she become something that doesn't die? We aren't told and that isn't even something that really gets touched on. These powers that she has? She has these "lessons" with Death to teach her and like... they don't actually DO anything???? The first lesson he literally just helps her get to her room and let her feel the power she's capable of. The second lesson is like Death touching her and making out???? Near the end, she eats a bunch of poisonous berries to get her close to the Veil and then she suddenly can use these powers that we do not get to see her practice on.

Let's talk about the biggest problem though. Death. Death and Signa. This is clearly supposed to be a romance between them two, an enemies to lovers but they were really never enemies she just hated him. But Death was obsessed with her since she was a BABY at two months old. 😭 He pretty much stalked her/watched her her whole life. Like um???? Also, it just FEELS like grooming in some parts. There's just some stuff he says that sounds so much like grooming that it ICKS me out.

Also, Death is very much "you can't play God, you can't decide who lives or dies" but he hints at doing the most to get her away from people AND he literally kills someone else to save someone from dying because Signa wants that. And also kills for her. Anyway, when Signa does that choice, Death eventually tells her he chose some 80 year old man instead who would have lived to 90 but he would have ached. Like UGH, give us actual damn consequences? She should have had to take the life maybe. It should have been someone young or someone she knew to know that that choice shouldn't be EASY. Also, she let's Death kill Percy to give Blythe his time, which okay I'm fine but like... doesn't that go against what Death has been preaching?

The ending goes on for too long. I get that she kind of wants to let you know there's another book. After we get the explanations of the murders and why people are acting certain ways and doing certain hurtful things and why SPOILER (men) will do the absolute bonkers shit/treat people terribly instead of talking normally about emotions lol which is the most accurate thing about this.

Again, the book isn't bad, per se but it isn't for me.

Especially those whose homes were destroyed which was yours so you definitely had to stay at the auditorium till everything was settled.

Currently, you were looking around the place looking for Eddie, you even asked people if they've seen him or not and of course they would answer with 'why are you looking for that freak?' or 'he's probably dead somewhere who cares' and that honestly just broke your heart on how everyone viewed Eddie.

He's such a sweet person, but only you, Dustin, Robin, Max, Steve, and his uncle know this. Eventually while looking, you spotted Dustin talking with Eddie's uncle who looked sad. "What happened? Dustin have you seen Eddie? I can't find him anywhere." You asked and placed a hand on Dustin's shoulder. He looked at you, his bottom lip quivering a bit as he sniffled.

You looked over at his uncle and saw that necklace Eddie wore in his hands. "Is he..." Dustin nodded as he stood up and patted your back. "Haha...you're lying right? This is all just some sick twisted joke, right?!" You shouted and gripped both of Dustin's shoulders making him look you in the eyes.

"Y/n...he's dead...I couldn't do anything he wanted to prove he wasn't a coward and stayed back...! He died a hero, Y/n.." Dustin cried as he gripped onto your jacket. Your grip loosened as he stood there, allowing that information to sink in.
