Both Adreala and Avadriel would involve so much adoration of the Halo scar... Adriel's feather-light caress of his beloved's naked back, him tracing the very tips of his fingers over the scar. Him leaning down, and pressing his lips to it. Him nipping at it and licking it as he makes love to her.

Warning: mentions of sexual violence.
Why do certain episodes of violence in Warrior Nun seem oddly sexual?
When Adriel tries to take the Halo, for example.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way he shoves his hand into Ava. The way he smiles cruelly, and mocks her when she tries to resist him. He looks awfully satisfied with the situation.
Then, in season 2, there's a reverse situation. Ava forcibly penetrates Adriel's mind, and looks as if she's having an orgasm while he screams in pain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, there are others.
Adriel giving Areala the Halo. Ava's comment about something being shoved into her body against her will proved eerily on point. Look at how Adriel roughly grabs Areala, and thows her on her front like a ragdoll. Then, he rips the back of her armor open, and shoves the Halo into her, kneeling behind her while she's on all fours. He ignores her cry of agony completely.

The scene in S2E8 is probably the most obvious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It looks as though a scene from someone's rather disgusting non-con smut fanfiction is about to take place.
Lastly, I'll mention this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's nothing overtly sexual about this scene, but still, there's something I and others see.
I see how most of these have Adriel. I'll choose to believe it's to illustrate his cruelty, and the way people around him are nothing but means to an end for him. As, I'm a huge fan of his, I'd rather not have it sullied.
By the way, yes, I understand why the creators probably chose this vibe - it's a wonderful, visceral way to portray how brutally invasive certain situations are (the Halo, or Ava looking into Adriel's mind). Not sexually, just invasive. Brilliant visuals, and a brilliant job by the actors.

You know who's probably the most underappreciated character in Warrior Nun fandom? Her.

Wait, so nuns are brides of Christ, right? Not God in general? Because, if they were brides of God in general, would it mean the OCS is married to Reya?..
It would also mean one of the first things Adriel did upon comig to Earth is steal his mom's girlfriend

I think, killing Areala (the love of his life), is Adriel's biggest regret. Don't get me wrong, he'd do it again, if he needed to. But, it hurts him to the marrow of his bone.
Also, I think Areala's last words to him were "I love you." Because, she can be manipulative, too. She wanted him to suffer for what he had done.
In this house, we love actually complex characters.

Modern Adreala again?.. Only, what could have possessed Areala to put on an ugly sweater? Moreover, whatever did she promise Adriel so he'd wear a flannel and jeans? Whose living room are they in?
Maybe, Balthazar is on a playdate, so they must look like regular parents. That could explain why Adriel's gleeful, while Areala looks as if she's about to take her shoe off - their son is being a terror.
On another note, I love how Areala would be the one to put her arm around Adriel.

Modern Adreala, huh?..
I don't know who the lady is, but she kind of looks like Areala

Going from this X, I doubt Ava's Areala in AOA. She wasn't supposed to be. It's another story entirely... But, it's hard not to make her Areala. Because, when I make Ava Areala, I can give Areala a better fate. She just deserved so much more.
One may ask, give her a better fate how, by putting her back with her killer? Sort of. She and Adriel are pretty much soulmates. Maybe, they'll actually listen to each other when they get a second chance. Dying, as well as spending a millenium in prison, should make someone think, no?
Besides, her coming back was never about Adriel alone. It's about the Halo. It's about her sisters. It's about seizing her destiny back into her hands.
Yet again... It's hardly for AOA. Ava's arch is completely different in AOA.

I recognize I kind of shot myself in the foot in Age of Angels. Adriel's one of the protagonists. I root for him, and I want the reader to root for him. But, I had him do probably the most despicable thing ever. He killed his wife. His pregnant wife, as I heavily implied. That way, I clearly displayed the level of his Machiavellianism, yes. However... It pulls a dark cloud over his relationship with Ava. How can she ever feel safe with him? How can she ever trust him? Even if (when...) she falls in love for him, how can she, and should she even, ignore the tiny voice in her head, reminding her what he had done?
I suppose, I can simply choose the complex, as in Game of Thrones kind of complex, route. I don't attempt to redeem him, or excuse him, or sugarcoat him. He's simply a wonderful husband in his second marriage, yet was the worst one in his first. Areala's blood will always be on his hands. No action of his can make it right.
The problem with GOT level complex characters is, few people comprehend them. GOT fandom proves it. Especially with female characters. Which Adriel isn't, but still.

It's Adriel.

According to the legend, Adriel was beside Areala on her deathbed. I mean, of course he would be, she's the love of his life. And he's hers.
And, of course, all I am thinking of while looking at this screencap, is not Areala's death. It's the birth scene in one of my WIP's (or, rather, a backstory in the universe). Areala in labor with her son, I mean.
I'd imagine, Adriel's being supportive (for once in his existence). Meanwhile, the sisters are standing around, not sure what to do, because they're nuns and soldiers, it's not a situation they're familiar with.
When the midwife arrives, she sees Areala armored, Adriel in a monk's vestments, and thinks "ffs seriously? Church folk again? Last week, it was the priest and his housekeeper, vow of celibacy means nothing these days."
Even after seeing his newborn son in Areala's arms, Adriel still went on to do what he did. This fucking ship... It's a damn knife to the gut. A jagged one.
