im seeing the pattern of being an atreus/angrboda fan (or u just like them) and having to go through this weird initiation process of: liking them in the game (wether its themselves, their relationship or both), then trying to find content of them only to be shocked to see a bunch of haters (on both sides but angrboda gets it the worst and thrud is often times oddly used against her), only to then get severely disappointed and realize u probably have to do a bit of contribution yourself which isnt bad but it sucks when its characters that are ridiculously hated 😭😭😭

if the actual princess zelda the one who’s actually the reincarnation or whatever it’s called, or is girl coincidentally named zelda the one who is? i couldn’t quite tell from your two posts about them. i think they’re super interesting and would love to hear more about them

i'm playing a little fast and loose with the rules here while also kind of interpreting demise's curse a little more literally than might be intended? he says his hatred will follow the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero right.. and people debate a lot about how the reincarnation works in zelda and the way i like to interpret it which might not be strictly true but is at least how i see it and how it applies to my au is that:

every Zelda is an incarnation of hylia. will be using capital Z here to differentiate from my Girl Coincidentally Named Zelda aka zelly. maybe the blood of the goddess thing was literal for a time but zelda timelines cover such long spans of time i see no practical reason to insist that my story's royal family are like direct descendants of ss zelda. for a few reasons.

anyways here it's more of a tradition in the royal family to name the first daughter Zelda and the royal family does carry some sort of blessing from hylia which can grant the light powers Zeldas often have. for all intents and purposes my Princess Zelda is this stories Zelda with goddess powers and some sort of relationship to the triforce of wisdom im still figuring out the triforces role in this one.

meanwhile ganons gone and saddled himself w the curse of demises hatred ig closer to the concept of calamity ganon condensed than anything else... and my zelly really is just a girl whos parents gave her a famous name they want to believe will protect her in some way she's like a WW link style hero where no higher power chooses her or anything though she does get guidance from the last hero they DID choose

I just know they’re gonna make macdennis canon and it’s going to rly piss me off when they do lol. It doesn’t make sense with every piece of character and world building they’ve done but as the years go on they’ve started to lean into what the fans want rather than their original vision so I won’t be in the least bit surprised it’ll just be disappointing

actually. i have had a short (<1000wc) gale pov angst oneshot set btwn p6/7 (hopeful ending i promise) written since the week of the finale but i haven't posted it bc i felt bad dropping angst on ao3 while we were all in recovery mode LMAOO

maybe it's time to post it later since i've been too busy with the dog coded fic to work on anything else in the meantime??? ik angst isn't as fun to read as fluff/pwp but there's a little bit of fluff in it at the very least to soothe the soul :^)

i get that it's fun from a fan perspective and i'm not trying to disparge that, but I think analysis wise, trying to overly determine scientific understanding to the canon framework kind of. misses the lens through which the framework is asking to be understood in the first place.

it's in the name and what's associated w it. the literary canon which upholds a specific body of texts as worthy of acclaim. the 'canon' as used in a colloquiel sense in fan communities to talk about about what elements of a text are unquestionably certain. hell (though i'd personally say spiderverse probably isn't intentionally invoking this subtext), canon as law by which you are judged.

'canon' in spiderverse is specifically being utilised as a vehicle for the characters to question the purpose of suffering within their lives (and because they are characters for which these aren't imagined stakes, they place it within a framework of fate), and as the means to ask the audience to interogate why we we uphold particular elements or beats of The Spiderman Story as ‘legitimise’ that retelling

I may be primarily using them as d&d ocs, but their hearts belong to WHA so I ended up going very WHA inspired with him. He's a Brimhat forever and always babey!
