You know whenever a discussion comes up where ppl accuse a certain player of hogging the limelight too much or taking too big swings, I just can't help but think that there's this player who frequently has huge main character energy when he's a PC and who I've somehow never seen any such complaint about. You know who?

Brennan.

Brennan as a player gives off suuuch protagonist vibes! Evan Kelmp? Nikhil? (from battle for beyond) Hell even Tula? Look at me and tell me those don't have main character energy

To be clear I have no issue whatsoever with this, I love these characters, Brennan is great, and everyone in those games clearly had fun! Plus when a forever DM finally gets to play he absolutely gets to take the spotlight. I do not have any problem with players taking big swings

But. But I do find it fascinating that I've seen ppl criticize Emily, Ally, Ify, Rekha, Izzy, Lou and Aabria and others at one point or another for taking up too much space, for taking too big swings, for taking the spotlight too much, for optimizing their characters too much and so on and so forth. And I've never, not once, not on tumblr or twitter or youtube seen a single comment criticising Brennan for the same things. Despite the fact that he absolutely takes huge swings and loves minmaxing

And like. Considering the very obvious differences between Brennan and the other ppl I listed, y'know

Maybe next time you wanna be mad about someone taking a big swing in an actual play show, think whether you'd also have a problem with Brennan doing the same thing or if you just don't like a black man or a queer woman or a non-binary person take up space

Day 7 of Medival Artober "Blacksmith"

When Y/N goes into the the next bigger village to get some things fixed or ask for something specific to be made for them Sun gets to see a lot of stuff, many things have changed since he was last able to freely roam outside and yet some things have stayed the same. And sometimes Sun dreams of a future as mundane and wonderfull as all these people get to live, as unobtainable as it seemed in the past... maybe, just maybe

yes i do! He is my favorite broadcasting club member!

He is so funny, I love his brand of humor, he gives me "I am a harem character in the wrong kind of manga" vibes!

He is also interesting at his core, there is a lot of contradiction to him: He seems to feel empathy and kindness in his heart, worrying for Mitsuba, sympathizing with Kou, trying to understand Sakura, and so on, but he is still on the 'bad guys side', he doesn't hide that his morality is grey and he isn't a very good person.

He is pretty blasé about the concept of death, he had no complains when Sakura was cursed students with Mei's flower petals as a distraction for him to break the clock, and his only reaction to stepping on a puddle of blood where he knew a 'cute girl' was eaten alive was "yuck!"

He wants to date Sakura. He seems to love her and be serious about her, confessing and flirting with her all the time, but despite coming of as a 'hopeless romantic and hopelessly devoted' guy he flirts with every girl he thinks is cute.

And is not empty flirting either, he would have been cool kissing Nene just because she is a cute girl.

Natsuhiko has no attachment to Nene beyond that, he and Sakura are only using her for their grand plan. They want her dead.

He is aware of what he is doing is considered evil, or so it seems, cause he call his schemes with Sakura evil with pride and joy.

Way too much joy, which disappears when he is alone.

His dissatisfaction about the 'I'll use my blood to melt the clock' plans seems to come mostly from how bleeding out drains him, and just... how gross blood is (he was disgusted when he stepped on Sumire's blood , and tsukasa killed the pufferfish so is not his acid blood in particular he finds gross) which is so cool for someone in the 'bad guys side' and whose reasons for being with Sakura are a mystery.

I also like how he doesn't want to look like a bad guy, like the aesthetic of it is the worst part, not how it may hurt others. The way he would destroy the world for Sakura's wish but when people do get hurt he doesn't look particularly pleased is also nice. Just... A lot of nice little things and contradictions to poke at.

He is not my priority right now, so I don't have insane spirals of thoughts about him, but he is overall a really fun character to theorize and analyze! On the few times I am in a Natsuhiko mood, it's always fun.

I love how in the books Percy is the only one insane enough to snap back and be a smartmouth to the gods, but I gotta say, the way the series made ALL of the trio feral little shits with no self-preservation or fucks to give is really growing on me
