i wish they would have stuck to dictator caitlyn instead of having her do an immediate 180 when she sees vi again. her entire narrative up to this point has been exemplifying how prejudice and privilege, however subtle, can rapidly twist a relatively well-meaning but ultimately misguided liberal into a fascist tool & her spontaneous change of heart really undermines that.

she lost her mother, yes, but so have hundreds of children in the lanes at the hands of piltover - but none of them had the means to do anything about it. meanwhile caitlyn by virtue of her privilege doubles down on subjugating this oppressed class of citizens because she’s grieving - because the fascist ideals she’s surrounded by make it so easy to give in to scapegoating and delusions of moral purity.

like, the way she immediately uses her family’s connections/power to flood the undercity with grey without a care for the innocents it might harm, or how her family name allows her to seize control of the city’s armed forces, or how she almost kills a literal child because isha aligned herself with jinx, her borderline eugenicist comment about jinx’s blood in vi’s veins, the way she likens zaunites to animals, being a cop even before all of this - all the while feeling she’s justified because jinx killed her mother.

i don’t think she’s earned vi’s or zaun’s forgiveness, nor do i think it’s narratively satisfying for her to even want those things. it just goes against everything they’ve been saying with her story so far.
