I headcanon that because Claggor is much more introverted, he’s an incredibly observant person and in a situation where Baby BassBreaker were a thing, he would’ve noticed Gert’s crush on Vi straight away. Vi on the other hand was way too obvious, everyone and their mother could tell she had a crush on Gert (maybe except Mylo). Claggor would’ve been the person to secretly give Gert tips on how to make Vi swoon.

Just a quick thing. Spoilers obviously. I have seen way… WAY too many people suggesting the scene here where Gert brushes off the Enforcer only to look conflicted when she sees her helping the older woman is some sort of reprimand “bad trencher see! You’re the issue!” sort of thing. If you cannot grasp what they are telling us during a scene about the two sides coming together, by showing us a member of one side taking a moment recognizing they were a-little quick to judge, you are intellectually incapable of appreciating Arcane. Back to reality tv with you children and leave us in peace.

I feel like so many GertVi shippers ONLY ship it as a means to hate on CaitVi. Most of them think they have some moral superiority because they move their favourite yt character out of a mixed race ship and put her in... another mixed race ship? Some of you need to stop treating Gert as this disposable black gf you can use against Caitlyn, simply because she's a Zaunite. You're allowed to ship GertVi, it just doesn't seem genuine when all the shippers seem to only ship it to shit on CaitVi

If Gert were to like when Vi calls her Princess, do you reckon she would have a thing for chivalry and that could stem back to how she was raised in childhood a little bit?(Baby BassBreaker time ig)

Like I headcanon that in her childhood she was probably raised with the mentality of growing up to work, earn money, save, ration, rarely self-indulge, don’t push limits and don’t get into trouble, do things by the book. Which when she was young she obliged because she was a literal child and didn’t know there were other ways. She was encouraged to start working full time once she reached her early teen years and just over time she just felt suffocated with having it consistently ingrained into her to just know her place and stick to the status quo. Feels trapped in the mundane that comes with endless hours of work just to merely survive on below minimum wage. Despite priding herself on her self discipline and strong work ethic, she still dreams of an opportunity to be free, to escape all this, to live a little bit rather than just surviving. And if it came to have a figurative lady knight in shining armour to come to her rescue, then so be it, but she didn’t have too much faith that it could actually happen as after all, it was still just a dream.

So that’s one of the things she loves about creating music and songwriting (and build her own instruments by association), if she can’t act out on her dreams fully then she can at least express and live vicariously through the songs she writes. For a while, that was her only little escape.

That was until she met a young Vi a couple of months before she turned 14. Vi, who opened her up to a new point of view and with Vi, she felt like she got to live for the first time. So it didn’t take long for Gert to start dreaming about Vi being that figurative knight in shining armour. Moments she loved more than anything when they were kids was the times when they would parkour together, flying like twin peregrines, play sports together, read and act out plays together, write songs together, sneak out and go on little adventures..and that’s a reason why she’d probably hold Vi to such a high regard and eternally appreciate her.

And with the amount of self expression she puts into her music, that means to an extent she’s pretty comfortable being vulnerable, something that Vi struggles with, so it could be the case that while Vi taught Gert ways to be able to live, while Gert taught Vi ways to be able to feel.

Y'all I just had a tasty as headcanon - what if Gert was Vi's prison Gf.

I found out people are shipping them already which is fun, but most seem to be during the s2 time skip which doesn't make sense to me personally but go ahead. But think about if they already knew each other?

To begin with, they match. Something about Gert was supposed to remind Jinx of Vi (at least in my interpretation: Approval from a cool older punk girl, with side bangs and lip scar, yeah)

Maybe she picked up Vi's hairstyle; she'd already busted a lip in prison, may as well match the hair too. Or maybe she helped Vi learn how to properly cut/style her hair. But we already know Gert likes to emulate the style of people she admires.

Maybe Vi told her about her family, about Powder, who had been what kept her going through her time there. Having someone to tell about all the trouble they used to get up to, how proud she was of her genius, blue haired little sister who would someday change the world.

Maybe Gert got out a few years before Vi did, promising to look out for her sister if she ever found her. She hears about Silco's daughter, a trigger-happy terror of a girl with blue hair. Could this Jinx really be the Powder Vi spoke so highly of? That sweet, bright little kid? Of course not.

Besides, it's none of her business to get caught up with some chembaron's crazy henchman. But she decides to keep an eye out for news of her anyway. For no particular reason.

Then, she hears about Jinx fighting back against Piltover, blowing up the council, redirecting the Grey that enforcers had used to terrorize Zaun and flooding topsides streets using her own ingenuity and inventions. Gert knows now that this is what Vi meant. Jinx was going to change the undercity for the better.

Finally meeting Jinx face to face in stillwater, there was no doubt the resemblance between the sisters. She feels proud of Jinx, herself and on behalf of the Vi she knew, seeing the symbol of hope Vi's sister grew up to be.

What if this is the first and last time Gert and Vi saw each other since stillwater.

Maybe that's why Vi is so surprised she's there, figures things out by her blue hair. That Gert had kept her promise and looked for Powder, finding Jinx and supporting her. Why Gert instantly reached to her for support, recognising that scared, too-tough girl she'd once cared for. Why Vi doesn't let go of her hand until she's dragged away.

Anyways I have a new headcanon now.

I think they would still be good friends had things worked out differently.

for (totally not political) reasons, i am a gert/vi shipper now. "gogert" is vi's nickname for her, and they re-united in the pit fights and bonded over punk rock and the trauma of being locked up for things they didn't do as minors. vi was a little put-out that gert was a jinx-er, but she fills vi in on what jinx has done for zaun and vi is once again reminded of her zaunite roots and what she'd promised powder about earning the city's respect. also, butch4butch <3
