Ok time to get on my soapbox but why on earth is submission being seen as a negative thing in the context of Jayce’s characterization?

Like out of nowhere suddenly the fan base saw the fact that Jayce is painted as the submissive one and thought that was problematic and I’m just saying. In canon, Jayce *is* submissive, in a certain way. A different way than the usual context. We’ve all seen that post, submissive in the way a guard dog is submissive. But Jayce’s submission isn’t out of weakness, it’s out of loyalty.

Jayce has so much love to give, but also so much trust. The basis of the fan base’s interpretation isn’t that he’s being goaded into submission or being convinced to do it, it’s that he’s doing it willingly out of a trust for the other person. When he gives himself up as a knight to Mel or a partner to Viktor he does that of his own accord, that’s the PLOT OF THE SHOW. He does what Mel and Viktor tell him because he trusts them with his life and it only takes extremes on either end for him not to align himself with them anymore. He didn’t follow Viktor, he didn’t blindly go with the council, because he stopped when there was a conflict of interest.

Submissiveness whether it be in love or in sex ISNT A BAD THING. It isn’t the mark of a weak man, and I’m gonna keep interpreting his behavior as a submissive as one of trust and love because fuck you he isn’t some mindless slut for being able to trust other people so fully.
