2 - Birthplace

Non-Vesuvian, was born somewhere South-West (I have no idea how The Arcana map/kingdoms work) ; He had to flee his home kingdom because of his illegal practices of necromancy, and in general to avoid being executed. It's around that time he met Asra.

3 - Known family

Cut contact with them to avoid being found by the authorities ; but also because he really wanted to start over.

Pairing : Quaestor Valdemar x Liam (my mc) - Platonic ! Fandom : The Arcana visual novel Warnings : disturbing facts? (like two, because I'm too lazy to do research)

Summary : How does one try to get closer to an unhinged surgeon? Try and be creepy yourself !

It had started during the years of the Red Plague. Liam had just become Julian's apprentice, and he'd been warned about Valdemar multiple times.

But that didn't stop the necromancer from wanting to be friends with them (or at least get them to warm up to him somewhat). And so, like any kid that is told 'don't do that', he did exactly that.

Although he took his time... He'd observe from afar, and take mental notes during each interaction he'd have with them ; their mannerisms, what they'd talk about, etc, etc... And the plan in his head seemingly started taking shape, and he couldn't help a mischievous smile from playing on his lips (even if it was hidden by his plague mask).

One day, he spotted Valdemar working on one of their corpses -as usual-, and he stood in the doorway for a moment. Liam then approached them, standing on the opposite side of the operation table. They didn't look up from the body. "Yes?" they inquired nonchalantly. Liam stayed silent for a few seconds, then just -

"Did you know, according to cannibals, the tastiest part of the human body is the palm of the hand?"

silence. They blinked, looking up at him, trying to comprehend just why Liam had just said that. Had he come here simply... for that? Their brows were subtly furrowed, and Liam stood there in the uncomfortable silence for probably a hot minute. However, he soon dashed off ; "Until we meet again !" accompanied his escape. Valdemar watched him go, a little more confused. After standing in silence for a hot minute themselves, they went back to the corpse with a little shrug "well, that's nice to know...."

Unbeknownst to Liam, he'd soon get a taste of his own medicine... The following day, he was getting done with a patient's diagnosis under Julian's supervision, when the plague doctor went to order files in his office. The necromancer was left alone for a few minutes ; but that was enough. He felt someone's breath right at his ear and stiffened. "Did you know, it's actually your bone marrow that fabricates your blood cells..." Liam's mouth opened in a silent gasp, as Valdemar's words echoed in his brain "nooo..." he whispered, drawing a chuckle out of the demon "until we meet again~" they said ; "you can't just do that !! you can't- come back here!!" before leaving the poor magician all too aware of his bones, despite his protests.

From then on, it became a casual inside joke between the two of them, as they tried to out-creep the other (even though Valdemar constantly won), much to Julian's despair. But Liam's plan had worked, in the end : Valdemar had warmed up to him.

Three years later, when they saw him quite literally come back from the dead only to investigate on Dr. 069's possible involvement in Lucio's murder they were... Surprised. And ready to investigate. They'd approach him while he was in the library, and well, he hadn't seen them coming.

"...did you know" they started, making him jump and turn around. There was a brief bit of silence before they went on "...that according to cannibals, the tastiest.." "...the tastiest part of the human body is the palm of the hand" the necromancer finished, a flicker of recognition flashing in his eyes he smiled and chuckled "I have a feeling we're not exactly strangers, Quas... Quaster..." ; "Quaestor Valdemar" they confirmed, nodding, the smile on the necromancer's face widening. Liam chuckled and shook his head "you gave me a real scare ! I thought you were about to skin me alive ! -That can be arranged -No don't-"

Even if Liam didn't remember the whole context of their "friendship", they had to admit, he wasn't exactly a nuisance.

MC Gate Exits

Ok arcana people is it only me, or has anyone else developed their mc's gate exit? Theyre still in the works and i dont have their actual gates but this is what i have so far for all of them:

Lyari

Uses scissors to cut a fissure as his gate exit or stab and pull down to create one; is second nature to them at this point and doesn't need to focus on where he wants to go

Even if he knows subconsciously where he wants to go, it will manifest; if he doesn't then his destination will be a random place within the realms or a random place in the physical world where hes been before

Could be good but also could be bad

Marsom

While manifesting his gate exit, snow storm appears obscuring anyones view who is in it

Comes out of the storm into his destination

Can be disorienting and distracting which could cause him to mess up where he exits

Osanna

Envisions the palace stable doors sliding open with her destination behind them to physically manifest them as her gate exit

Still heavy doors that need to be slid open

Are closed at manifestation

Samuel

Ground opens up either directly beneath him or near him like a sink hole or rabbits hole he then jumps into

Could be an awkward landing

Seli

Ring or dome of fire encircles her and whoevers in the diameter, when it dissipated, her destination is on the other side

Can be dangerous is if where shes going is very flammable (like fire starter type material not so much like wood, more like twigs and leaves)

Can also burn any who touch it or take people she doesnt want as long as theyre in the circle/dome

Vaura

Either manifests a door which then has to be unlocked by one of their keys or a magic ethereal key

OR

Manifests a giant key hole they have to walk through to get to their destination

Tai

Manifests a willow tree around them that they walk out of for their gate exit; when they part the branches their destination is on the other side

Can be pretty time consuming as the willow grows around them albeit sped up a lot

Aurora: Does anyone here knows how to re-activate & repair a broken secret ion cannon???

Opaline: Shush! It's meant to be a secret, silly!!! What if Sombra found out?! Anyways, the others will cover us... but who is willing to assist us?

Rainbow: Isn't that very ancient??? And besides, no one knows how repair/refill that old thing except you, Opaline!...and there's not enough magic source to power it...

Opaline: I don't expect anypony to be able to... We'll have to switch to plan B...That is combined magic, so as to create a beam so powerful that it can wipe out multiple enemies.....

HIIII OMG TYSM FOR ASKING!!! This was actually kinda tough(especially Medea), I think all of them are so caught up in their own dramas that a vacation seems so far away- this might be the one time I'm writing them happy and taking a break LMAO

MEDEA

Best of luck trying to get them to take a vacation. Would rather chew glass than feel like she’s out somewhere enjoying herself while people need her. Because of this, I don’t think they’d ever go of their own accord but they CAN be convinced by a friend or a lover.

On the vacation itself, I don’t think they’d have much of a preference. I feel like Medea would enjoy quieter more rural places than bustling cities but enjoys art and architecture so much that they might brave a place like fantasy Florence.

Really hard to make her let loose but after she does she spends all her time taking photos and buys trinkets things from every place you visit. Has a big shelf at home where she keeps them all, it’s one of the only things she has the energy to dust semi-regularly.

Gets way too attached to street dogs and cats and cries a little when they have to leave the cat they kept seeing around the place you guys were staying at.

Gets homesick very quickly.

ATTIS

CAN. NOT. PICK. A. SINGLE. PLACE. He’s thrilled to be going somewhere away from his duties but is 100% paralyzed from having to choose. Gets carsick (carriage sick? horse sick?) extremely easily and has to have pee breaks every half hour.

Has a preference for beaches and more social/extroverted places. The highlight of every trip is the food and the drinks. Has a knack for befriending locals and tryhards at it so much it’s kinda pathetic.

Tries to learn how to surf. Fails miserably.

Despite being a pain in the ass, he prefers to travel in groups instead of alone or just with one person. Happy to stay at whatever the fantasy equivalent of an airbnb just having a cookout (churrasco) and playing cards (truco) (he actually hits people during truco and yells so loud you swear this is why the locals hate him).

Tries everything he can get his hands on. Goes on the sketchiest of motorcycle tours and eats the weirdest seafood combos.

Always remembers to buy a little souvenir for his sister.

BOREA

I’ve said this before but Borea is THE nerd of the nation. Her idea of a vacation is just to have enough time to read up on specific magic books that aren’t for work.

Although, she would love to travel to other places, especially places with a lot of historical sites and the such. If she were to ever visit Vesuvia again I’d imagine she’d enjoy touring the collusium and learning all of it’s bloody past. Because of her being in Vesuvia during the red plague (which is how she knows Asra and the MC) I feel like she’d be a bit aloof despite her enjoyment.

If she ever goes somewhere else she WILL be the type of person to meticulously plan every day by the hour and get slightly upset if it doesn’t go as she thought it would. If you go to an amusement park with her your going on at least 6 high tier rides before lunch. Optimizing queen.

LOVES TRAVELLING BY BOAT. Before her parents both decided to become posh diplomats, they were a predominately fisherman family and so some of her best childhood memories involve taking the boat out and watching the sun rise. Is content to just kinda cruise around on a fishing boat, going from neighboring country to country and reading all day.

Would enjoy going to a colder place just because she likes fashion that’s warmer but likes tropical climate best either way.

Lucio Morgasson: her lover, if not slave even: Larissa just needs to talk and Lucio will execute. He quite idolises their relationship and loves showering her with gifts, money and physical displays of affection. Larissa acts more ambiguously, but she is fond of this foul man.

Nadia Satrinava: her lover's wife. They are not friends, but neither enemies. While Larissa judges Nadia a good ruler and likes flattering her, Nadia doesn't really reciprocate the feeling, but aknowledges Larissa's power and influence and tries to not upset her.

Levi Alemonos: her beloved son. She would kill for him, it's not an exaggeration; and Levi loves his Mama too. The problem is that he is not really a docile child and throwns a tantrum whenever Lucio is around, openly despising him.

Hilal Alemoğlu: her nephew. They love each other and Larissa considers him a second son, blindly trusting him, but they don't see often eye to eye on political matters.
