1. The Outsiders by S.E Hinton. BY FARRRRRRR MY FAVOURITE BOOK EVER. STAY GOLD - STAY GOLLDDDDD - I cry everytime.

2. 1984 by George Orwell. YES I'm a sucker for this one but I've read it like 10 times and I just really like it, I just do.

3. Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman. this trilogy is like the best trilogy I've ever read. I read the first book for my waterstones book club and DAMN. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. had me in happy tears in book 3 and it has my heart ;)

4. More Than This by Patrick Ness. no words to be said but I adore it. like if I could eat this book in its entirety and then become a tree I would.

I don't know if someone has already asked you but, what is your favorite scene in the trilogy?

it’s super hard to pick just one scene so i’ll just name a few

1. the scene where curie tells citra about her relationship with faraday. i LOVE this scene. im obsessed w curaday so i think i just think it’s rlly cute.

2. the first conclave scene. i like this one in particular just because it’s rlly interesting to see how conclaves operate and how other scythes interact with one another.

3. literally any scene w faraday in the toll. “the toll” era faraday broke my heart omg i felt so bad for him. seeing him so heartbroken was awful :/

4. the coffee shop scene with citra, faraday, curie, and munira. i love this scene bc i love seeing curie and faraday interact (i’m obsessed w curaday).

I think it'll depend on what kind of influence Christianity had by the time the Age of Mortality ended, and how much the Scythedom actually cares about it. Most immortals view religion as something with positives and negatives, but overall something that's a relic of a time long gone (with the exception of the Tonists). How much do they know, or care, about the difference between Jesus as a historical figure and as a biblical one? Will the name of Scythe Christ go to a man who wants peace or power?

I wonder if humanity ever progressed far enough that one day, a young scythe-to-be wanted to call himself Honorable Scythe Christ. What agreement would the higher-ups come to? Since religion is obsolete, is Jesus an acceptable Patron Historic? Even in the Age of Mortality, many people just saw him as a historical figure. Would the Scythedom agree, and allow Scythe Christ to choose that name? Would they see that desire as too dangerous, possibly leading to a path like Scythe Goddard chose, gathering followers in an attempt to change the world? Or would they come to a stalemate, unsure if anybody should take that name ever again due to all of the previous worship and hatred associated with it? 

And if the Thunderhead was allowed to, what would it think?

Ninjago Fic Rec Week: Best Boy Edition (Cole)

I am summoned by my cosmic need for ghost cole content. all the ghost cole content. any of it. Already read all of @21st-century-ninja​ recs so here’s my hat in the ring with a few.

Meet Again What can I even say about Meet Again? One of the most beautiful and gut-wrenching fics out there. One about the pain and utterly ephemeral beauty of existing, wherein Cole and Zane meet their friends again after living for thousands of years. Don’t start it unless you have a lot of time on your hands, because it sucks you in. Sent me on more of a character arc than the actual characters. If you read anything from this list, make it this one. It will hurt, but it will be beautiful.

Spectral Flight A multichap about Cole’s experiences being a ghost. Haunting and ominous, but with a bit of levity to keep it from being overbearing.

Amidst Sandstorms the Stars Dazzle A fun fic about what Cole, Jay, and Pixal have been up to since the merge!

Sleepsong Another great one from Lloydskywalkers. This one explores the aftermath of the Possession finale, especially in regards to Lloyd and Cole. Ghost Cole for the soul.

Sharpen the Scythe, Before he Reaps A rewrite multichap of DotD, where Cole fading away is much more gradual and with a bitter sting to it as he tries to cope with what’s happening to him.

Everything up tip yesterday was a prologue Unfinished multichap. Slice of Life au where Cole is a ghost trapped/haunting the house when the others move in. Very sweet to see their relationships grow as they seek ways to help Cole experience the world again.

Beneath the Surface Everything Speaks Quick fic about Cole, and how being a ghost draws him closer to the earth. Very interesting read!

Ghostly Petals Quick Bruise fic about Jay making a flower crown for his ghost buddy. Very sweet!

Undone Lava one shot where Cole abruptly becomes a ghost again after a while of being human. It’s interesting to see how Cole isn’t even the worst one at handling the whole thing.

Once Bitten: Future Tense A follow-up sort of fic to Once Bitten: New Life where snake!jay comforts Cole following his transformation into a ghost! It’s very sweet to see Jay empathize with Cole through their shared experience in losing their humanity.

Acquisition Some platonic Sandstorm where Cole helps Morro with his aquaphobia. It’s very sweet to see Cole reach out like this!

Lost Soul Old but gold trilogy, where at least the first two have a good emphasis on Cole as he struggles to maintain his existence as a ghost. Pretty heart-wrenching to see. Between the first two fics, currently the longest ghost Cole content on the archive (for now >:) ) Very worth the read!

On the Floor Morro visits a trapped Cole on Day of the Departed. Quick one-shot.

Anyway, there’s my offering on the table until @cookii-moon comes to one-up me. I wish there were more ghost Cole content out there! Heads up, if you write a ghost Cole fic, tag it as such on AO3 and I WILL find it and I WILL read it. I am a hungry beast here to devour. Cole is my beloved blorbo, and I have been greatly looking forward to his day in the fic rec week spotlight!

thinking about this ya series i read in highschool and how it starts SO strong and then shits itself at the end. it's called the Arc of a Scythe trilogy by Neal Clusterfuck, and without spending a century just summarizing the plot.....

youve got this excellent world building where the worls has advanced to the point that death is defeated via the use of nanobots, but overpopulation is actually still of concern, so there's this society of reapers whose job it is to kill peoppe within a specific quota, no more and no less. the Old Guard takes it very seriously, is humble and severe but the New Guard (idr what theyre called) believes that if they alone have the legal responsibility and right to permanently kill, they should have fun doing it, they should be free to do it however they please, even though it will lead to massive discrimination and inhumane methods. One of the Old Guard takes a pair of acolytes, something that is very much unheard of, and there's conflict there because it turns out only one of them can graduate their training, one has to kill the other. this doesnt come to pass, the boy escapes and becomes a rogue. the girl ends up making enemies with the New Guard which is lead by Donald Trump, like fucking seriously neal keeps making the villain character quote donald trump at every opportunity and i cannot emphasize enough how this book was published in 2016, its so fucking egregious it broke my immersion every time it was fucking awful, so now Main Character Girl has to d plot stuff and try to keep Main Character Boy from getting killed and thats exactly what hes trying to do for her and the plot amps up and up abd up until the second book ends on a cliffhanger with them both locked in an airtight safe at the bottom of the ocean, it was the only way to esacpe donald trump's massacre.... how are they gonna get out of this?

well that's the neat part, they don't! this is called "writing oneself into a corner". so now the main character is not this dynamic duo we've come to know and love, its actually a background character who literally didn't have a name until now. book three feels like it should really just be a standalone novel because none of this book has to do with the first two until like the last couple chapters when neal forces this plot to collide with the first one. like. we spend the entire book learning about this random guy and how he accidentally became the leader of a new religious movement and he ends up saving the world at the end. not those two kids with their unique and opposing yet intertwined worldviews and philosophies on the nature of morality, life and death and the human condition, but some random fucking guy we just met. he saves the human race from donald trump, not the two kids most personally victimized by him. what the fuck. oh and he does it by using the godmachine i didnt mention because it barely mattered to build spaceships to send his cult into space to hopefully begin life anew on different planets and just let trump do whatever he wants to the ten (ten!) billion people left over. and the two kids got to go back into hibernation to hopefully survive the many lightyears of spacetravel. i wish they'd fucking died on trump's island in book 2 because
