If each Love Live group was a polycule, how would you describe the general dynamic of each polycule? I feel like Muse would be chillest, Aqours would be the horniest, Niji is the most chaotic, Liella is the cuddliest, and I don't know enough about Hasunosora to say anything there.

In all honesty I don't turn Mu's into a polyblob like I do with the other groups, and I'm not sure why that is. It's not like I have a shortage of Mu's ships but maybe I just don't picture them all sticking together in one big group? That probably comes from my hours and hours of thinking about my future AU fic where (some of them) have gone their separate ways. That's not to say there wasn't plenty of poly going on at Otonokizaka, though.

Idk about horny for Aqours (well maybe besides Mari) but they're definitely the most shameless I think. They're famous for being school idols of course, but around Numazu they're also famous for always being up to something around town. Not necessarily troublesome, but between Yohane's antics that she leads her gfs on, Mari's penchant for PDA and displays of wealth (that frickin helicopter), and Chika's proneness to loud and passionate declarations of love, they are hard not to notice. But nonetheless, they are bona fide local treasures.

I think you're right about the NijigaPolycule but I think their chaotic nature can be traced to just a few of the members, namely Yu, Ayumu, Setsuna and especially Lanzhu (Ai is the only "normal" 2nd year lol). Obviously everyone loves Yu, meaning everywhere Yu goes she has a gf with her, either that or people will start to worry and ask questions (She's like a lost puppy if it's just her). Ayumu is often the one with Yu of course and is very lovey dovey with her, but acts similarly with many of the others. Setsuna is constantly learning of new ways to woo and romance the others from the anime she watches (though it's mostly action and fantasy anime, so her displays are typically more dramatic and over-the-top than you'd expect). As for Lanzhu, she will not stop threatening to buy a mansion for everyone to move into after graduation. She has told everyone at school who will listen that she's going to do that. At this point they're actually starting to believe her, but surely she wouldn't, that would be crazy! And to that I say, uh yeah, this is Lanzhu we're talking about!

And yep you're right about Liella, they are the comfort polycule. No one is doing wholesome domestic fluff like these girls. The idea of these girls all moving into a mansion together would actually surprise nobody.

Love Live Unit Koushien Day 1

I debated whether I wanted to bother posting about this because it's not like the old days when these events weren't accessible to foreigners. Even for those who cannot make it to Japan, anyone can just buy and watch the archive right now!

But, I still feel it's worth talking about my experience attending via the foreigner plan, for anyone actually interested in going for it someday.

My experience on the foreigner plan actually wasn't as great as it was the first time.

For Aqours 5th Live, I got a hotel with an amazing location in Tokyo (Ikebukuro!) and an arena seat for the concert (on the floor!!). I didn't end up taking it (and wished I had), but there was also even an option to pay for a shuttle bus to and from the concert as well.

This time I did not get arena. My seat was on the 2nd level, but center. So not as good, but not bad either. (My friend who was on a different plan did get arena though. I do feel like the foreigner plan generally gets fairly good seats as they know you're coming a long way for this.) The hotel though, UGH, they stuck us in Kawasaki. I mean the hotel itself was nice, but we had to take a shuttle to/from Kawasaki Station or walk 15 minutes to the nearest station, and there was no option to take a shuttle directly to the concert. They just plopped us in the middle of nowhere and said good luck weebs! If it had been my first time in Japan, I would have been super lost/stressed I think.

But we did get this:

As acrylic stand which might have been unique to the foreigner plan!!?! I didn't see it anywhere else?

We were also given the option to skip the lines and buy merch in advance.

BUT.

You could only buy it in sets. The sets had some stuff I wanted, and some I didn't. So, I sought to buy a set to sell off the things I didn't want to friends back home and line up for merch regardless to get the other things I did want...

....b...ig... mis...taaake.....

While trying to get down early for merch I had a couple mishaps along the way. The hotel shuttle wasn't running so I had to walk to the nearest train station, which was a little difficult to find. And when I did, I didn't get off when I was supposed to and ended up going in the opposite direction for a little bit AHHHHHHH

When I finally got to the arena it was 7:30am and the line was already MASSIVE. It didn't look so bad when I took the picture above, until I realized it went basically all around the arena and growing as they condensed us as much as possible. I was so mad at myself for getting there so late. It's not my first rodeo and I should know better!!

Sales actually began at 10am, but I didn't get out until 1pm. Around that time, there was an announcement on Twitter that basically advised people not to get in line if they had tickets for Day 1 and wanted to be able to see the show. Leaving the arena after the show, there were STILL tons of people in line even though it was about to close.

While I was in that line I kept thinking... All these people, all this money, and nobody spent any on SIF2!? We really couldn't save it!? Come on...

Anyway. The next day I wasn't there, but I heard they opened merch at 9am instead of 10 to try and help but I don't know if that would do much. Because wow, it was bad. According to the announcers at the show, people were even lined up the night before.

Anyway, at least nothing sold out. I got everything I wanted plus the stuff other people wanted plus I took a chance at the gatcha.

I usually try and avoid blind stuff nowadays, and if it was actually by group I probably would have avoided this altogether too. But instead, they actually put all the groups together meaning you would have a 1 in 43 chance of getting your best girl! LOL!

So I decided to do it just because, out of 43 possibilities, I couldn't help be curious who I would get...

I got Hanamaru, Shioriko, and Kinako! All characters I feel pretty similar about: Not my fav in the group, but I still like them a lot. Like, top 5! A little higher for Kinako! So, not bad.

So yeah anyway, the live was great although my feet were very sore from the merch line. It was super fun cheering on each school as they went up to bat (this was a baseball themed concert) and when it was nearing the end everyone cheered "OVERTIME!" (or rather "Extra Innings" or whatever they say in English for baseball, this was in Japanese so IDK) instead of encore haha!

At one point I cheered so hard the batteries fell out of one of my penlights, so I only had one for the last quarter. I looked all over for the backing but only found it at the end when they turned on the lights. It was in the cupholder in front of me the whole time.

I found it funny how most of the units go hard, but some of them go SO MUCH HARDER! Specifically, Saint Snow and Guilty Kiss... like DAAAAAAMN. I wasn't even on the floor and I could still feel the fire that shot up with Guilty Kiss performed. Also CYaRon, IMHO! Haha! Even though they are cutesy, the "We are CYaRon!" "I LOVE CYARON!!!" cheer during Day Day Day was deafening. Oh and also, CatChu!? They were the only other group to get fire other than Guilty Kiss. I'm embarrassed to admit that when the Liella units were initially announced, I had been mistakenly thinking the Kaleidoscore was the BiBi/Guilty Kiss type... but no, it's actually CatChu!?! HAH!

Also the encore was amazing, especially the last shuffle group. I must have damn near deafened the person next to me when they announced it. And then the big finale, seeing Aiai, aka Ruby, as center of the whole stage.... wow. WOW!

Anyway. If you want to visit Japan. If you want to see a Love Live show. You can do it. YOU CAN! It might be a little expensive to get there, and you may stumble a bit at first, but the foreigner plan is a good deal and food/other lodgings in Japan are actually really cheap. Summary: A little glimpse into a fairly normal Riko, Chika and You composition, lyric writing and costume design combined session

“<SUPER AWESOME TRIP>?” Riko read the stylized title in English at the top of the lyrics sheet.

“Yeah, isn’t it awesome?” Chika asked excitedly.

Riko scanned the scrawled scribblings that could be construed as a rough draft of the lyrics for a new Aqours song. She had worked with Chika long enough that she was getting pretty good at determining the direction the other girl wanted to go with a particular song, even if a few things were initially illegible.

“I like where this is going.” Riko admitted. “But I’m afraid the title really isn’t working for me.”

“Hrm…” Chika thought for a moment. “Alright, how about Super Amazing Travel…”

“That’s already a song that AZALEA wrote.” You interrupted, looking from her own papers where she was designing outfits for the group.

Chika blinked. “AZALEA has a song with Super in the title?”

“No, Amazing Travel DNA, remember?”

“Oh, right.” Chika giggled before sticking out her tongue. “Maybe Super Wonderful Journey?”

“Can we just drop the Super please?” Riko asked.

“So just Wonderful Journey?”

“Sounds a little too much like SKY JOURNEY.” You dismissed.

“No, it would Wonderful, not SKY.”

Riko shook her head, unconvinced.

“Wonderful Adventure?”

“Guilty Kiss just sang Phantom Rocket Adventure.” Riko pointed out.

“Wonderous Wanderings?” You offered.

Riko laughed lightly. But while she enjoyed the alliteration, it still didn’t quite fit. Something still felt… off. She reread the lyrics.

“The theme feels more like preparing for a journey rather than the journey itself.” Riko expressed her realization aloud. “So maybe something like Lovely Leaving?”

“Excellent Escape?” Chika suggested.

“Remarkable Retreat.” Riko countered.

“Fantastic Flight.” You said.

“Oh, I like the fantastic…” Riko thought about other words for depart… wait, that was it. “Fantastic Departure?” Even though it didn’t fit with the alliteration they had just been using.

“I love it!” Chika proclaimed, taking the lyrics sheet back from Riko.

“That works.” You nodded in agreement.

“Thanks, Riko-chan!” Chika said with a smile.

A moment later, the old title had been scribbled out and the new one written under it. And the girls continued their lyrics, composition, and costume design session.

Author's Note Continued: I was trying to come up with another idea for an entry for this prompt and couldn't get Fantastic Departure out of my mind. This may have something to do with the song name being used in another IFH event that I enjoyed. And while the prompt was Journey, one has to Depart to go on one. Then my mind started running through its thesaurus and this chapter was written over a lunch break at work.

Love Live Superstar comes to a tearful end, with NO IDEA if a movie is even needed at this point. Let me explain my thoughts for a moment.

(I literally broke down in fulfillment).

When I first discovered Love Live in 2015, my initial feelings were wondering if I should dive into the idol fandom. However, when I WANTED to fall into idol hell, Muse disbanded and Aqours was only less than a year old; trying to build from the sweet failure (?) their predecessors started. So, I waited three years for Aqours to cook and hope they would succeed.

❌ I had no way of accessing Love Live in 2010 because I was just a teenager with dial-up modem internet and a old ass computer. Bite me. Thus, BoRaRaRa was not in my radar.

❌ Waited on Aqours because I got into Love Live later than expected; KimiKoko flew under me. Bite me again.

❌ Forget Tokimeki Runners. I did not even know about PDP because in 2017 I was still into Precure and had no connections via titbirb. Bite me thrice.

However, Liella was different. I DID find out about the upcoming series and followed up on the latest news during that time. So, OF COURSE I WAS THERE WHEN HAJIMARI WA KIMI NO SORA debuted. Liella was the first school idol group I got to witness in real time. Thus, this finale hit me 10x harder than both Muse and Aqours' endings combined.

Anyways, the whole final episode of S3 felt like a full circle; showing some familiar moments from the Season 1 PV and the 1st episode, plus the return to their very first single, "Hajimari wa Kimi no Sora". With the series at an end, would it be fine to expect a movie? If it does happen, I'd rather it be among the 2nd and 3rd gen members just because how this finale ended the 1st gen feels like the closure of a chapter in Liella.

This begs several questions at this point:

As for reality, what will happen to the original 5 members?

Will the staff follow suit with the anime by letting Sayurin, Liyuu, Paychan, NakoNako and Nagichan graduate?

Is it necessary to even do that despite these five still having so much to offer for Liella?

Could the 1st gen continue as a separate entity from 2nd and 3rd gen?

Will there be a 4th gen?

Is this gonna be a similar group to idol groups like Nogi46 or AKB48?

What is the Love Live staff planning for Liella beyond the anime?

For now, all these answers are unknown; sooner or later, we will know. Until then, I am satisfied to say Love Live Superstar has left its mark on me as one of my favorite Love Live series.

This concludes my thoughts on Superstar S3. It is close to midnight and I need sleep. Beforehand, I would like to wish you all a happy holiday season, whether you are with family or stuck alone trying to get yourself back together after hitting hard times (throwing lovehearts because you are loved). I'm getting sentimental over Sachi graduating and I haven't even read the story all that much... If they're actually going to do the thing and have the 2nd years graduate next year it's going to hurt so fcking bad...

but honestly i don't know what they're going to do. i can't see them graduating half of the cast next year but the entire setup of hasu - especially with how the lives and streams work - is heading towards the dead line of next year's graduation. are they aqours-ing it and ending the story while keeping the group going? are the (current) second years just going to hang around after graduating? are they going to change the sub-units with new members? honestly it's just about as scary to see what they're going to do as it is exciting...

crazy to think there are still people out there calling hasu a lazy cash grab when liella's sub-units are right there, wasting a spot on their first singles for a what a wonderful dream re-release when 2 out of 3 units already have no clear identity as is, the new miracra single alone has more variety than all three of their singles combined while still being clearly recognizeable as miracra, this literally shouldn't be possible and yet here we are

7. CYaRon! - CHANGELESS: this one is just comforting yet emotional at the same time. This right here is actually my favorite CYaRon song because, hear me out: the genki genki songs in the genki genki subunits are cool, but the ABSOLUTE TEARJERKER songs in the genki genki subunits will NEVER FAIL TO MAKE ME WAIL OUT IN SORROW. I love this song sm frrr

8. CYaRon! - Yozora wa Nandemo Shitteru No?: All of this is just gonna be emotional songs is it 😭 also this is my 2nd favorite CYaRon! song. I LOVE THE VIBE OMGGG all of the CYaRon: songs that are considered sad and emotional make me think of this scenario which I like to call "POV: you witnessed all of your friends either disappear or be morally corrupted and your ex-bf burned down the ENTIRE island and you're trying to process literally everything on the way back home". Yeah. Those of you who read LotF... y'all know EXACTLY what im talking about.

9. Hanamaru Kunikida - Yaa! Kouunryuusui!?: THIS SONG is actually happy :3 also the amount of simon from lotf vibes this gives me is immeasurable omg I LOVE IT i listen to it when i feel terrible
