Blurb for Adventure Time (2025) #1
The Oni Press solicitations for April 2025 are out, and that means we have a blurb for Adventure Time (2025) #1! Here it is:
C'mon, grab your friends-ADVENTURE TIME is BACK with AN ALL-NEW ONGOING SERIES from a star-studded cast of cutting-edge creative talents! "BEST OF BUDS" starts here with a brand-new adventure nearly a decade in the making! When Finn and Jake save the newly installed Computer Princess from the clutches of the evil Ice King-he just wants a bride, OK, is that too much to ask?!-the two escort her back to the Computer Kingdom, where she gives our totally mathematical adventurers a new quest: find the powerful guide for heroes-the Enchiridion-and bring it back to her, so she can scan it for her digital archive! But where are they going to find it? And how?! An epic journey awaits Finn and Jake, but can they remain best of buds throughout their quest? Or is their friendship about to be put to the test?! Fantasy and friendship unite as the beloved animation icons of Adventure Time return to comics to pick up where their Eisner Award-winning adventures left off! It all begins in "Best of Buds Part 1" by cartoonist and animator Nick Winn (Bloody Mary)-plus the first chapter of new monthly backup feature by classic Adventure Time writer/storyboard artist and 2024 LA Times Book Prize Finalist Derek Ballard (Cartoonshow)!
That explains why there's a robot PB on one of the covers. But this description certainly raises a lot of other questions. Why are Finn and Jake going on a quest for the Enchiridion when the show already established how they got it? Is this a totally new timeline for a totally new series? If the Ice King is around, does that mean the reports that the comic would be set post-finale were wrong? Or is this whole thing just a Together Again style fake-out? Time will tell.
This also reveals that Nick Winn is writing and illustrating the main story while Derek Ballard is writing and illustrating the backup story. It’s nice to hear backup stories are making a comeback! It sounds like Derek’s backup story will be in multiple parts across multiple issues.
Adventure Time (2025) #1 releases on the 9th of April.

The Twitter Drama AU Timeline
finally, after months, we finally have a timeline. this is not exhaustive (i tried to mainly include the super important parts, and some less important parts i thought were REALLY funny), and is probably only 75% accurate due to the non-linear nature we wrote the fic in to begin with, but it is better than nothing! updated as of chapter 10 (low hanging fruits)
12th March 2023: Tiny Diamond is born, Creek is his other dad, which is kept a secret from everyone except Guy and Creek.
November 2023: The events of Band Together, almost completely identical. Following which, Brozone get back together and start working on their reunion album. Now that Branch is in the spotlight, Barb is forced to acknowledge her ex girlfriend (one night stand) Poppy is a lot happier with a transfem butch, which sparks Barb’s descent into terfism. Val and Creek briefly see each other.
December 2023: John Dory gets his Twitter confiscated by Clay. Floyd gets his sex tape leaked (by Creek). Clay throws Viva under the bus for the first time. Clay accidentally gets Bruce accused of cheating on his wife, but they pin it on Branch, who just organised a fake breakup with Poppy because he was uncomfortable with all the smutfic. Riff leaves Barb’s band, and collabs with Creek but calls him an asshole. Velvet gets out of prison and writes a callout thread on Floyd. Floyd gets cancelled for the first time. Creek and Floyd start seeing each other in secret.
January 2024: Val publicly comes out as nonbinary and is kicked out of Barb’s band, then outs Barb as a nepo baby as revenge. JD tries to sneak back onto stantwt but is doxxed. Floyd tells Branch about his relationship with Creek; Branch is surprisingly fine with it as long as Creek is suffering, and boy does he suffer.
February 2024: A misunderstanding leads everyone to think Branch broke up with Poppy because he’s a gay man. He comes out as a lesbian but is immediately met with vitriol of both the exclusionist and transmisogynistic varieties. Barbtwt have a bone to pick with Hickory but he comes out on top. Clay throws Viva under the bus again but this time she's had enough, and releases an expose video on him and kicks him out of the pod. Viva and Floyd become BFFs.
March 2024: Dating rumours about Smidge and Poppy start, which Smidge does nothing to help. Barb accuses Smidge’s actual boyfriend of being a pedophile, and gets ratio’d. Creek and Floyd go public with their relationship.
June 2024: Guy Diamond gets into controversy after soliciting a camgirl and his family vlog channel goes on hiatus. Clay and Viva get back together, and Viva records revenge porn of him to “keep him in line”.
August 2024: Biggie gets into mild controversy that escalates into cancelation when he responds in character as Mr Dinkles. Clay and Vivas relationship becomes undeniably abusive, but they’re really good at hiding it.
September 2024: Floyd and Creek get married! Satin & Chenille have Velvet on their podcast. Guy Diamond gets cancelled after being outed as Pro-Life.
15th December 2024: Floyd and Creek have twins, Brad and Angelina [LASTNAME]-[LASTNAME2-.
April 2025: Creek and Floyd drop all pretences of thinking they’re a healthy couple.
12th May 2025: Creek aborts his second egg. They would have been named Shiloh. Floyd is distraught and gets harassed on Twitter again for being Pro-Life.
August 2025: Creek and Floyd divorce.
September 2025: It comes to light that DJ Suki is stealing from her niece CJ.
December 2025: Creek and Floyd get back together. Val stops hiding their racism from twitter and get doxxed by KPop fans. They have to live with their mother.
January 2026: Harper starts drawing Bruce as a transphobic caricature, a skinny feminine twink.
February 2025: Viva stops taking birth control. Branch gets doxxed for the first time (by Cloud Guy). Dante starts stalking Branch.
March 2026: jdtwt find out that JD used to have a thing with Delta Dawn, and harass her a bit. The two get back in touch, and Delta tells JD that they actually had a kid together (Holly Darling). JD is thrilled about being a dad. Holly is initially apprehensive but eventually comes around. JD gives Delta Cooties (it’s okay, there’s a cure). Sky Toronto buys Twitter.Crimp gets run off the internet for uncomfortable roleplay with Tiny Diamond (pretending to be 14). Velvet gets cancelled for workplace abuse. Smidge starts queerbaiting by selling merch of referencing her and Poppy’s fake relationship.
April 2026: Tiny Diamond reveals he is not actually 14, he is physically 3 years old (but for our purposes he is functionally 9 because Trolls age weird). He loses all his OOMFs (CJ, Preiscilla, Keith (all approx 13)) and has his account suspended. Branch gets really jealous over Smidge and publicly shittalks her. He and Poppy “get back together” but set the “boundary” that any smutfic about either of them can only be Broppy (obviously not everyone follows this rule).
May 2026: Cloud Guy leaks Smidge’s miscarriage after being paid off by Barbtwt. Branch gets doxxed for the third time. Poppy demands Sky Toronto take action so he permabans Cloud Guy’s IP. Cloud Guy goes to live with his parents.
June 2026: Gust Tumbleweed is violently homophobic to Synth during an LGBT charity event, but faces no consequences because he starts flirting with his fellow straight male friends again. Poppy gets sick of Dante stalking Branch so she prepares to take matters into her own hands. Holly Darlin starts selling snake oil, from the same company that supplies for Satin & Chenille. Holly and Satin start dating.
July 2026: Satin & Chenille (both Creek’s exes) are invited to the Floyd and Creek household for dinner to ‘bury the hatchet’, where they witness blackmailable activities and force them both to come on their podcast and embarrass themselves (mostly Floyd).
August 2026: Demo falls in love with Gust after being flirted with for several months, breaks up with his current girlfriend (DJ Suki) and gets very VERY aggressively turned down by Gust. Dante sends a glitter bomb to Branch’s pod, so Poppy beats him up, but Dante calls the cops on her and she faces legal trouble. Harper starts drawing Creek as a trans man, even though Creek is a cis man, because she felt like it. It catches on. Biggie gets cancelled for something unspecified but really, really bad.
September 2026: Guy Diamond faces controversy for thinking Troll babies sleeping in beds causes Autism, which he got from Creek, who he used to date and is now interested in again. Clay starts nearing his brink wrt Viva and stays with JD for a bit. Viva finds an egg in her hair, which she soon loses (19th). Cloud Guy kills himself. Biggie overdoses while playing Overwatch. Veneer gets hit by a bus.
October 2026: Sky Toronto and Nova Swift get divorced (she leaves him for a trans Troll). Branch and Poppy get an egg, and Viva is the first they tell, so she manipulates them into thinking they’d be awful parents and she can take care of it for them. Viva uses the egg to convince Clay to come home.
31st October 2026: The egg Viva stole from Branch and Poppy hatches. Their name is Ha’Penny Hatch. Since the kid looks nothing like either “parents”, Clay figures that Viva cheated on him and finally goes grey.
November 2026: Harper deletes all her socials when her proship side account is found. Gust tricks Demo into thinking his feelings are finally returned, only to crush his heart again publicly during a subathon.
December 2026: BrozoneRonpa resurfaces. Branch accidentally says something offensive about Guy Diamond publicly, and Guy capitalises on the potential controversy, which leads to intense Guy VS Floyd beef (they are both interested in the same man (only Floyd is married to him). Nova Swift moves to Mount Rageous, leaving S&C in need of a podcast producer, and Fuzzbert is their only hope but expects a big paycheck.
January 2027: Guy Diamond reveals that Tiny Diamond is actually Creek’s son. Floyd goes to stay with Branch. Bruce finds out the real reason Clay went grey and his immediate plan is to fake Clay’s suicide and take him with him to Vacay Island. JD, Viva and Penny are the only members of Clay’s immediate family who don’t know he’s still alive. Clay’s funeral is livestreamed on Twitch. Holly Darlin’s newly rekindled relationship with her dad is halted in its infancy.

Feedback on OTW’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan Update
The OTW posted their 2023-2026 Strategic Plan on July 24, following up on six years of work since their previous 2017-2020 Strategic Plan. A Strategic Plan is a guiding document that many organizations and companies will develop to outline long-term goals and how to achieve them.
OTW’s Strategic Plan consists of three parts:
Vision Statement 2022-2025, which outlines the mission, priorities, and challenges for the organization, and was published a year ago.
2023-2026 Strategic Plan, which gives a timeline for what the organization plans to work on and achieve at various intervals, beginning in July 2023.
Strategic Planning Implementation Support Plan, which provides guidelines for the Strategic Planning Committee and the entire organization to monitor the progress of the priorities outlined in the plan.
We wanted to provide our analysis and feedback on the Strategic Plan from the perspective of our goals to hold OTW to its commitments to hire a diversity consultant by the end of 2023, update their Terms of Service (TOS) to address racist harassment and abusive content on AO3, and provide more transparency.
Strategic Planning Process
The process for developing the Strategic Plan was opaque for people who are not staff, board, or volunteers with the OTW. The draft version of the Strategic Plan was not circulated to members or AO3 users outside the organization before it was finalized. While it is not unusual for nonprofits to only solicit feedback from their own staff and board on such a document, most nonprofits and websites tend to do other forms of proactive community engagement such as through surveys, focus groups, workshops, and more to understand the needs of people who do not work for the organization. In the absence of that kind of engagement, the Strategic Plan could have been an opportunity for the OTW to seek input from a wider base, including OTW members, AO3 users, Fanlore editors and viewers, editors of and contributors to Transformative Works & Cultures, mods of archives imported through Open Doors, and more.
Additionally, the OTW mentions that they received feedback from volunteers in the year between when the Vision Statement was published in 2022 and when the final plan was published this year, but the Vision Statement itself has not been updated to reflect that input. Given that the Vision Statement guides the organization’s priorities and themes of work, this is also a missed opportunity.
Strategic Planning Timeline and Actions
Diversity Consultant
The Vision Statement includes one bullet point under “Diversifying Spaces” on this topic: “Contracting with an individual or organization to consult on issues of racial bias and inequality within the Organization and its projects. Options for this will be researched by a dedicated Diversity Consultant Research Officer, appointed by the Board of Directors.”
The timeline in the Strategic Plan includes goals for the Diversity Consultant Research Officer (DRCO), the volunteer who was appointed in April 2022 to research diversity consultants. The DRCO is to give their first report to the board in three months (October 2023), a year and a half after being appointed. The DRCO is supposed to then give reports every three months, which will be “shared both internally and externally to users”, and the DRCO and/or consultant are to check in with Volunteer Coalition leaders every six months.
There is no other mention of the goals for the diversity consultant themselves in the timeline, nor a confirmation of the commitment to hire a diversity consultant by the end of 2023, which the OTW Board stated in their July 1 public meeting.
Anti-Harassment Policy Updates to TOS
There is no mention of TOS updates to address racist harassment and abusive content on AO3.
Transparency
The Vision Statement included two sections that are relevant here: one on “External Communication” as a priority area, and a section under “Challenges” on “Public Narrative” that included possible goals such as sharing more information about OTW’s history, purpose, and structures in infographics; encouraging committees to create public-facing video content to explain the work that they do; and revising the overall communications strategy to improve transparency and communicate the missions effectively.
The timeline in the Strategic Plan includes two goals that follow up on this in 18 months:
“Strengthen Overall Communications Strategy: International and multilingual external communications strategy is clarified and further developed.”
“Strengthen Consistency and Reach of Public Messaging: Clear guidance for consistency across our platforms to support raising awareness of the OTW mission is developed.”
The Strategic Plan also mentions that the DRCO will give quarterly reports to the Board on their progress, which will also be shared both internally and externally.
Other relevant areas
The Vision Statement’s section on “Diversifying Spaces” also had other strategies intended to address racism, including creating volunteer resource groups who “may suggest, advise, be consulted on, or provide information for OTW policies that may affect their experience within the OTW and our projects”; trying to expand recruitment to diversify volunteer, staff, and board candidate bases; and providing more features to give individual AO3 users more control for filtering and customization.
The timeline in the Strategic Plan included these goals:
Recruitment: In 6 months, “each committee will have reviewed research on and taken action to improve diversity and decrease bias in candidate selection processes”.
Volunteer Coalitions: In 12 months, “research into volunteer coalitions is completed and initial volunteer coalitions start being formed”; and every six months from there, the DRCO and/or consultant will check in with the Volunteer Coalition leaders.
Implementation
The Implementation Support Plan primarily consists of actions that the Strategic Planning Committee and leadership will take to ensure plan implementation, including checking in with teams, evaluating progress on goals and creating documentation, providing support for committees, monitoring the plan’s feasibility, and celebrating goal completion.
Our recommendations
Given that the hiring of a diversity consultant has been lagging for three years, and since it is not in these documents, the commitment to hiring a diversity consultant by the end of 2023 should be reiterated in other official OTW communications.
When the DRCO and Board have developed a scope of work for the diversity consultant, the Strategic Plan timeline should be updated to include key milestones and expected deliverables for the consultant within the 2023-2026 time period.
The regular updates that are currently assigned to the DRCO in the timeline should be extended to the diversity consultant once hired, to ensure transparency.
The Strategic Planning Committee should provide more specifics on how they are evaluating progress on the plan’s goals, and ideally give updates at regular intervals on that progress.
For the next Strategic Plan, the OTW should engage with the Volunteer Coalitions, particularly those that are intended to support volunteers of color and non-western volunteers, as well as reach out to stakeholders outside of the organization itself, including OTW members and people who engage with OTW’s projects (AO3, Fanlore, Open Doors, and Transformative Work & Cultures).
The next Strategic Plan should also be completed in a timely manner to prevent missing coverage of years, which was what happened for 2021 and 2022.

No Powerpuff Girls #10 in Dynamite’s April 2025 solicitations, so #9 in March will be the final issue of the numbered run. There will be a Powerpuff Girls/ThunderCats crossover for Free Comic Book Day in May, but this appears to be the end of Dynamite’s Powerpuff Girls comics run for now.
In unrelated news, Captain Planet's getting a new comics series, and he has a new beard! Also, plenty of Hanna-Barbera, including Wacky Races and the Space Ghost/Jonny Quest crossover series Space Quest, and Disney Afternoon-related comics, including Darkwing Duck and DuckTales.

Black Kiss Omnibus (comic books, 2025)
.
Howard Chaykin's Black Kiss was a (incredibly kinky) game changer when it was originally published in 1988. A new omnibus coming out in 2025 will collect all the existing Black Kiss comics and include a new, final, 28 page Halloween story.
Normally I would wait untill a book like this hits the shelves, but it is solicited in November's comic book shops pre-orders, so here's a heads up for anyone who might want a copy.
Fyi, if you've never read it, most reviews give away the big reveal(s) so I recomend going in cold if you can.
from the publishers solicitation-
""Poisonous and bitter, an absurdly funny sucker punch demanding to be spat out." —Matt Fraction (Sex Criminals)
The infamous, hardboiled-erotica series is collected for the first time in a deluxe hardcover omnibus featuring new material.
It’s been a long, long time…one last time.
Collecting for the first time every stop along the way on Howard Chaykin’s transgressively groundbreaking trail, the BLACK KISS OMNIBUS collects the legendary 1988 series, its 2012 sequel BLACK KISS 2, plus the BLACK KISS XXXMAS SPECIAL and, created just for this volume, the all-new 28-page BLACK KISS HALLOWEEN, which will mark Chaykin’s final excursion into this world’s hardboiled erotic noir.
Throw in a look back at the project’s long history of sensationalism and censorship, plus a large assortment of extras from across nearly four decades, and this 400-page collection will be the definitive shelf-filler that once again makes readers ask that vital question…does it have to be so dirty?
Collects Black Kiss #1-12, Black Kiss 2 #1-6, and the Black Kiss XXXMas in July Special"
Published by Image Comics, distributed by Simon and Schuster

NSF and the ISS National Lab announce up to $3.6 million in funding for physical science research on the space station
New solicitation now open seeks to fund multiple projects on transport phenomena and fluid dynamics research in space
For the tenth consecutive year, the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is funding a solicitation that seeks proposals leveraging the International Space Station (ISSInternational Space Station) National Laboratory for research in transport phenomena, which now includes research in manufacturing methods that utilize such phenomena, and the resulting materials. NSF will provide up to $3.6 million in total funding for multiple projects to utilize the space station for fundamental research focused on:
Fluid dynamics
Particulate and multiphase processes
Thermal transport processes
Combustion and fire systems
Nanoscale interactions
Manufacturing methods that employ any of those transport phenomena
Resulting metallic materials, metal nanostructures, and ceramic materials
Gravity affects the underlying physics in many transport processes. In microgravityThe condition of perceived weightlessness created when an object is in free fall, for example when an object is in orbital motion. Microgravity alters many observable phenomena within the physical and life sciences, allowing scientists to study things in ways not possible on Earth. The International Space Station provides access to a persistent microgravity environment., the gravity-driven forces that impact fluid behavior are significantly reduced. This makes the sustained microgravity environment on the orbiting laboratory beneficial for several areas of study. Responsive proposals will describe how the proposed project will utilize the unique conditions available on the space station to advance fundamental and translational research to benefit humanity.
An NSF-funded investigation from Florida International University recently launched on Northrop Grumman’s 21st Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) mission to the space station. The experiment leveraged microgravity to improve models of active colloids, which are groups of suspended particles that move within a liquid or gel medium. Results could lead to improvements in a broad range of technologies—from biosensing and drug delivery to water desalination and photothermal therapies for cancer treatment.
Fundamental science is a strategic focus area for the ISS National Lab, and knowledge gained from such research leads to advances that bring value to our nation and further inform the scientific community. Through this partnership, NSF will fund the selected projects, and the ISS National Lab will facilitate hardware implementation and in-orbit access to the ISS.
Prior to submitting a full proposal to NSF for this solicitation, all interested investigators must first submit an ISS National Lab Feasibility Review Form. The information provided in this form is used to evaluate the operational feasibility of the proposed research to be conducted onboard the space station.
The deadline to submit a Feasibility Review Form is February 6, 2025. Only investigators whose proposed concept passes this Feasibility Review will be invited to submit a full proposal. The full proposal submission deadline is on April 10, 2025.

Express Entry Draw 316: Invitations Extended to PNP Candidates on October 7th.
On October 7, 2024, Canada extended invitations to 1,613 candidates who possessed an eligible provincial nomination to apply for permanent residency in Express Entry draw number 316.
Key Highlights for Express Entry Candidates:
Type of draw: Provincial Nominee Program
Invitations issued: 1,613
CRS score: 743
This recent PNP draw was anticipated, as there had been no PNP draws in Express Entry since September 9.
The significant number of invitations issued—1,613 in total—exceeds the PNP draw from September by over 600 invitations, which may account for the higher volume.
It is critical that the CRS score necessity for this draw was set at 743, stamping the most noteworthy cut-off score for a PNP-only draw in 2024 to date.
With this draw, the total number of Express Entry PNP draws in 2024 has reached nine, resulting in a cumulative total of 12,167 invitations issued across these draws.
The month to month breakdown of solicitations is as follows:
May: 2,985
June: 1,499
July: 3,275
August: 1,884
September: 911
From January to April, the IRCC invited PNP candidates through general draws. While the correct number of commonly chosen people welcomed amid these rounds is not accessible, measurements from the last mentioned half of 2023 demonstrate that, on normal, 55% of candidates welcomed in common draws held a common nomination.
What Can We Anticipate for the Remainder of October?
Considering that September experienced a relatively low volume of Express Entry draws, it is anticipated that October will be more active, with approximately 10,000 invitations expected to be issued. This suggests that an additional 8,500 invitations may still be distributed within this month.
We can foresee at least one draw for the Canadian Experience Class, in addition to a category-based draw. Furthermore, another Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw is likely to occur to compensate for the absence of such draws in September.
What Actions Should You Take if You Are Awaiting an ITA as an FSW Candidate?
The outlook for Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) candidates appears somewhat discouraging; however, it is important to note that options remain available.
FSW candidates continue to be considered under category-based draws, which often feature a lower Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off for those who qualify compared to general draws. These category-based draws necessitate specific work experience or proficiency in the French language.
For individuals with relevant work experience, the primary objective should be to enhance your CRS score wherever feasible. We provide valuable resources outlining the steps necessary to improve your CRS. It is also crucial to recognize that the targeted work experience for category-based draws will undergo changes in 2025, with the inclusion of occupations in education and natural resources.
For those whose work experience does not align with current targets, acquiring French language skills may be the most advantageous strategy. In 2023, 92% of individuals selected in draws based on French proficiency were candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker program. With a goal to increase the proportion of French-speaking immigrants to 8% of all newcomers by 2026, learning French now could significantly enhance your chances of receiving an ITA as an FSW applicant.
