some ii warrior cats designs! in order they're yin-yang, test tube, fan, paintbrush, lightbulb and marshmallow! this is an idea that's been sitting in my head for a few months so i'm excited to finally share it. my idea is that fan, or fern in this au, starts off as a kittypet who excitedly watches over the clans and he is found out by the leader (probably mephone4? who knows yet) who lets him join as an apprentice (he's about 7 moons/7 months at this point). blazepaw (they're all around the same age) is super put off by the idea with a kittypet joining the clan but keeps it civil as the newly named sparkpaw makes quick friends with their friends lightpaw and thistlepaw. also mallowtail will end up running away with apple (haven't decided on a warrior name for her yet, maybe applestem?) to become a kittypet, where she will take on the name marshmallow if yall are interested in this please let me know because i'd be happy to share more!

Today was the day.

The air was buzzing with excitement from every corner of camp. It was a much needed celebration, the day a handful of kits would be promoted to apprentices. A large and regal tom overlooked his clanmates, a spark of pride in his chest. Today was when the first of his, Pinestar's, grandkits would choose the paths of the rest of their lives. He watched his daughters in hushed, excited conversation in front of the nursery. His green eyes settled on the enthused expression of the tortoiseshell, Applestem, who looked so like her mother.

Pinestar studied her, but was truthfully lost in thought. He continued to struggle with deciding fitting mentors for each of her four kits, after the recent loss of life in their clan had left choices skim. He sighed in sorrow.

The brush of a second pelt against his snapped him out of the fog. He looked to his left, seeing the stoic posture of Applestem's mate, Archstone.

"Are you nervous?" Pinestar asked the glowing father.

Archstone scoffed and eyed the older tom. "Are you?" He teasted. He flicked his tail with regret when Pinestar only sighed. "It will turn out alright," Archstone assured him, returning his gaze to his mate and her sister ushering their kits out of the nursery. "They are adaptable, as we all must be."

"There is much on my mind," Pinestar admitted. "I should choose to focus on the joy of this day."

"Then do so you shall," Archstone said with a grin and a playful flick. The black and white tom lept gracefully from their perch and turned to face his leader once more. "Nothing can possibly ruin this day, Pinestar."

"Don't say that," Pinestar laughed nervously, taking his place upon the (1)__________.

One by one, each of the four soon-to-be apprentices lined up eagerly before their grandfather and leader. A grand hush fell over the small clan. Pinestar allowed the silence to settle before daring to break it.

"Mothkit, Spiderkit, Antkit, and Beetlekit, you have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to take your place in this Clan as apprentices. From this day until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Mothpaw, Spiderpaw, Antpaw, and Beetlepaw. May your mentors pass down all they know to you." His green eyes drifted to the first of the siblings in line before him. "(2)__________, your mentor shall be (3)__________."

(1) Describe the leader's perch.

a. Gnarled roots that extend from beneath the snow--the corpse of a long fallen tree.

b. A sharp stone nestled in scruffy brush--a relic of the mountainside that looms above.

(2) Choose your protagonist.

a. Mothpaw, a tortoiseshell she-cat with a soft and curious disposition.

b. Spiderpaw, a stoic and sharp black she-cat with orange eyes.

c. Antpaw, an exciteable black and white tom with a constant twitch in his tail.

d. Beetlepaw, a mischevious brown tabby tom.

Shadowclan

Taking the role of The Danes, Shadowclan resides within the pine barrens in the northernmost part of Clan Territory. They are bordered by a Thunderpath to the west and south, which separate them from Windclan’s and Thunderclan’s territories respectively. To the north resides a small but deep river with an abandoned farm on the other side. This river runs to the western part of Shadowclan territory, where it feeds into a large marshland.

Cats with Shadowclan blood can be easily recognized by their large, soft paws and bright eyes that stand out against their famously dark pelts. They are often described as aloof and secretive, with a deep distrust for any cat outside of the clans. However, in the years since Mudstar’s death, Houndstar has worked to better their relations with the other Clans by fostering strong foundations of trust between them.

The much more robust ShadowClan. I like filling ShadowClan’s ranks with flat-nosed and round cats.They have just as much if not even more of a habit of taking in loners and cats from other clans than ThunderClan, so they’re quite diverse and you find a lot of breed or other clan’s traits among them.

Burrowstar is a crazy old man who rarely takes things too seriously and is ready to indulge the youngsters’ wild ideas. There’s a strange luck to him where things tend to work out for him, but no one but Dustcloud seems to understand him or be able to stand him for too long.

Deereye was made deputy despite being a young cat who had only just trained his first apprentice. Many feel another senior warrior such as Hailblaze would have been a better choice, none more vocal than Deereye himself, but Burrowstar and Dustcloud seem to think he’s the right guy. His front paw is damaged from an accident which has left him unable to move his claws, leaving them always out.

Though much younger, their medicine cat Dustcloud is a close friend of Burrowstar, and one of the few who understands him. She is very motherly and whenever he does something unexpected she helps assure the clan that there is wisdom in his actions. She was born a kittypet and invited to join by her late-mentor due to the knowledge she possessed of her twoleg’s herb garden. She has her eye on Pinekit for an apprentice.

Hailblaze is a senior warrior, Deereye’s former mentor, and the one most of the clan thought would be made deputy. Though annoyed at being passed up she supports her leader and deputy, and helps Deereye when he gets overwhelmed. She’s Quailpaw’s mentor who has a habit of setting off her temper with his airheadedness.

Birdfire is a skittish, cowardly tom who has difficulty with his much more outgoing apprentice, Thornpaw. Most of his clan does not hold him in high regards, but Burrowstar values his alertness and sensibility among the otherwise battle-hungry clan.

Beeleap is a rough and irritable queen, ready to pick a fight with anyone. She detests Birdfire for being a coward and once attempted to chase him out of ShadowClan for it. Most find it difficult to get along with her, and were shocked when she had her late-mate Heavyclaw’s kit.

Kindhearted and a braggart, Goldenheart rarely attends gatherings specifically because he is too friendly and talkative of how great his clanmates are to the point of oversharing. He was Burrowstar’s last apprentice and the old cat is blamed for Goldenheart’s own ditziness.

Ratshadow and Badgerback are a pair of sisters who make up shadowclan’s best team of hunters. Ratshadow mentors her nephew, Mudpaw, and the family is fiercely protective of each other ever since Badgerback’s mate died in battle. Once a very enthusiastic warrior, she’s become more cautious since.

Redtooth is Deereye’s much more outgoing sister, and the person who pushes him the most to do his best. She’s quite smart, learning from her former mentor Taloneye to be inventive in her approach to new tasks, and takes failures in strides. She feels guilt over being praised for rescuing Taloneye and Berryspot from a badger simply for being the one to scare it off.

Berryspot always tries to think positively, and takes particular umbrage with more negative clanmates like Beeleap and Hailblaze. He feels guilty over the fact that Taloneye was forced to retire due to protecting him from a badger, and he has bonded with Redtooth over their shared admiration for their former mentor.

Applestem is a laid back and lazy cat who always looks for ways out of work if she can. She’s Deereye’s only apprentice and supports him simply because Burrowstar believes in him. She takes people’s differences in strides and accepts she doesn’t really understand others but that they’re probably doing what’s right.

Quailpaw, and sisters Mudpaw and Thornpaw are the current apprentices, all very excited for their training. No one is quite sure how Quailpaw came out so friendly given who his mother and mentor are. He frequently is the victim of Mudpaw and Thornpaw’s pranks.

ShadowClan’s only elder in Taloneye, who chose to retire early due to her injuries from a badger attack that left her blind and suffering breathing difficulties due to a damage throat and nose. She was considered Shadowclan’s best warrior and mentor, and still held in high regard by her former apprentices.

Snakefang is ShadowClan’s current only queen and senior-most warrior, a fierce fighter with a twisted back leg. She’s quite jolly and happily fostered Cloverkit for Mothear when he arrived. The two became good friends and she still thinks of Cloverkit as one of her own. She thinks Burrowstar is a “crazy old coot” and fights with him often.

Snakefan’s kits are Dapplekit, Loamkit, and Pinekit. The three all believed Cloverkit to be their brother and were quite upset when he left. Depplekit in particular wishes to become an apprentice quickly so they can see him again. Comparatively, Loamkit worries about the day and wishes he could stay in the nursery with his mother. Despite his age, Pinekit’s spent much of his time in the medicine cat den due to bad luck with sickness, and has become quite curious about herbs and helping Dustcloud.

☾ — Beekit, Lizardkit, Sorrelkit, and Thistlekit of CedarClan have become apprentices, with Applestem, Palefrost, Jackdawbug, and Weaselwatcher as their mentors.

☾ — Hemlockpaw of CedarClan has become a warrior, now known as Hemlockgale!

☾ — Berrykit, Cherrykit, and Hollykit of HollowClan have become apprentices, with Lilyroot, Burningdove, and Bugrush as their mentors.

☾ — Scarletpaw and Thrushpaw of HollowClan have become warriors, now known as Scarletdusk and Thrushbriar!

☾ — Hawkthorn is under close watch by Tinystar to ensure he is worthy of trust within the Clan. She assigns him a new apprentice to finish off their training, but ensures that he will not be given much freedom otherwise.

☾ — Some of the elders within HollowClan are growing more critical of Fogstar’s leadership and the passing of Spiderstar, and begin to speak with other cats—including Spiderstar’s granddaughter—in order to discuss their next moves.

☾ — Fallowdust is caught up in a scandal with Cloverdove when she blackmails him into getting deathberries to poison the healer apprentice, Duskpaw. He agrees, and intends to expose Cloverdove, but she instead frames him for the act and Straystar reluctantly exiles him from EmberClan. Following this, Fallowdust forms a group of outsiders among the Twolegplace consisting of other loners, rogues, and former kittypets, with their numbers slowly increasing.
