apps that helped me study!
I find it quite hard to get off my phone and leave all my distractions to study , so here are some apps that helped!
yeolpumta (ypt) - this app helped me a lot to track how long i study for . when you start a timer for studying it actually locks all the apps on your phone (except safari, imessage and phone) so you can't actually get distracted without stopping the timer first. it makes you stop and think before using your phone and forces you to study! i also like to join communities as seeing how long others studied for motivates me haha
studytogether (website) - i like to have it open on my laptop and join a study room with my camera on so that i know people can see me and i am forced to study so people don't think of me as lazy, and seeing so many others studying with you in real time is so motivation too! (although there are some creeps that will message sometimes, just report them!)
todomate - i quite like this app for keeping track of my todos! you can add friends on there and it's actually such a cute app! it's a bit hard to use at first but once you get the hand of it it's really nice :)
todewy - i use both to do apps haha but i like this one because it is easier to use and having to upload photo evidence of the work motivates me to do my work to the highest quality!
this is what has been helping me so far and i hope it helps you too! i will soon do a post on what i do before i study and during and after to help me focus more!

ft. unchecked ambition to recreate of the hardest Kpop dances (only in vain), lots of code debugging, and using Yeolpumta the wrong way
💻 Internship // progress tracker
-> detecting pockets in protein structures using 3diff pipelines -> finding consensus pockets using outputs of pipelines -> pocket alignment of protein models by structural alignment with a set of known binding site structures -> read base paper -> weekly presentations [2/2] besides these tasks I've been trying to modify all my code files such that they can run directly from the system terminal (i hate edge cases and this entire process has taken years off my life) so that I can upload it on github
🎓 Uni Stuff
-> charted out a timeline for master's applications deadlines and related work
👟 Kpop dances!!
completed! 🔥bye bye ankles ⇒ I'd started this way before I messed up my ankle and then I abandoned it but we are so back... I picked it up last week and finally! it is done. 💪 bts' magnum opus ⇒ the main challenge is ensuring to hit every beat at the right speed and my rendition is still far from refined but hey. atleast my moves have developed some fluidity currently <3 🧢 left, right and just vibes ⇒ really needed a breather after the first two dances and now I'm here xD although the main reason I picked this dance was bc I loved the part switch version and all the references // ✅chorus + prechorus ⚡ crush...ing my motivation ⇒ so much for taking a breather. I've been obsessed with this song and I tried to start learning it and... four seconds- that's how much I've learnt in past three days. but the satisfaction when I got those four seconds? immeasurable. // ✅1st chorus pt1/3
💿 Other Things This week
📅 started my 18day habit challenge! by which I simply mean I'm using Yeolpumta as a daily tracker app rather than a study app and I'm loving it <3 I get excited seeing different colours marked on the daily calendar and as a consequence I've been more productive lately :D 🍊 been eating healthier! lots of fruit and water intake and I've also been learning to cook! 📖 The Myth of Sisyphus <3 I don't read a lot of non fiction but this piece is hella intruiging and I'm having a lot of fun 🍕 Lunch with the besties [x2] 🎰 Gaming Arcade shenanigans yet again 🎆 Fest at Uni! One of the best bollywood singers of all time showed up and he sang bangers from our childhood; we had a blast 🎧 lots and lots of kpop and for some reason I keep coming back to Advice by Taemin
[ 18th - 31st Mar; week 13+14/52 || and with that, 1/4th of this year is done. I'm pretty satisfied with how I how i spent the past two weeks, hopefully I'm able to stay consistent 🤞]

study apps
Here are my top 3 study apps that I use:
Study Bunny is an app that helps you set a stopwatch/pomodoro, and as an award, you’ll receive carrots/coins! Using these carrots, you can feed the bunny, and the coins can be used to purchase food and clothes for the bunny. I’d rate it a 7.5/10, but I think it’s simply because there’s too many ads.
YPT (Yeolpumta) is an app where you can use a stopwatch/use a pomodoro timer. What’s even better is that there’s other functions such as groups, rankings, to-do list, and planners that show how long you studied each subject for. Not only that, it’s ad-free and you can change the theme! 10/10 hehe
Study Time with Rain is absolutely adorable, you can’t change my mind. Stopwatch, Pomodoro and planner functions as well. Not only that, it has an adorable ghost, where if you tap on it, it’ll show you your goal. And if you enjoy white noise, or you want in-app music, this is a great choice. Some are: rain, library, fireplace, city, jungle, cooking, vegetable peeling (trust me this is good), jazz and classics as well!!! 10/10 but since it’s so cute, 15/10!!!

jui’s diary: this week is better than last wk! (1/13-1/19)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was able to catch up (somehow) on my backlogs! my daily avg hrs studying is still quite low, but to be fair i missed a lot of recordings & i didn’t record the time i went to class 🤣. had good meals, good times w/ friends despite the hectic week, and i commuted home!
apologies for the rather distasteful picture of my commute home & my inability to take appetizing photos of my food.
switched to yeolpumta because the app really forces me to study . . it calls me out whenever i use my phone 😅.
anyway, i have another hectic week in med school to face. fighting, everyone! 🤍
goals for this week:
🫧 get high scores on unit exams and summative quizzes
🫧 finish notes on majors
🫧 process necessary forms for a community activity

🍞 lately ...
recently, i've been trying to avoid digitally keeping track of my productivity. it's quite a difficult thing for me to tackle, as i've been heavily relying on my devices for pretty much everything! gradually, i will be moving more towards non-digital methods, such as traditional journals and planners.
the most distracting thing that i am aiming to tackle is my reliance on my phone. my screentime has been crazy and i'm not proud of it, considering that most of that time was social media. due to this, i am going to start using my phone as a tool; to transform its purpose from just being a distraction to being used to make productivity an easier process. it will be a difficult transition, so i don't expect myself to achieve this goal overnight. instead, i will take specific steps towards this goal. as of lately, i've been deleting instagram when i find myself getting looped up in the algorithm. i am aiming to get to a point where i can delete the app and only download it once a day to check any messages, then delete it again. i still use it for communication with friends and family, so i don't see myself deleting it permanently any time soon.
in general, i've also just been trying to avoid digital methods of productivity! it's not as big of a priority as avoiding my phone, but so far, i think i'm doing well! i have learned that if you write your goals down on paper, you will feel more inclined to work towards it, so i've been using my planner and journal recently! i used to use todomate for my daily todos, but i found that i am more successful when i actually write my tasks down on paper. i still use notion and google sheets on my laptop, but not as much as i used to. setting my goals on notion didn't help me much since i would rarely ever read them again. so now, i use notion as a kind of a database (?) for my ideas. i might explain more about it in a future post! as for google sheets, i've been using it to make trackers for myself. for example, i used to use yeolpumta to keep track of my study time but i eventually found it to be inconvenient because of how frequently i would have to unlock my phone to start and stop the timer. now, i just keep track of how many pomodoro sessions i complete, then record it on my google sheet tracker at the end of the day. this way, i am able to put my phone out of sight and out of mind!
lastly, i have been using google calendar for time blocking. but i have realized that i often don't commit to my schedule, so i am wondering if time blocking in my planner might be better. i might try it out soon! i want to make a big post before the start of the next quarter about some productivity tips, so i'll be testing different methods and report on what works for me!

struggled through friday but in the late afternoon when heading to training the sun finally broke through and a nice breeze and my favourite trees are blooming 🌸 so i could make it through the evening. still not a 0 day, and confident i can get right back to it on monday
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
over shabbos i hung out with a woman whose lived off of foraging for a year now - the amount of knowledge is unbelievable. i also sat in the sun by a cafe having a beer and a bagel with two of my brothers in our rain boots and it may well have been a late summer afternoon <3
5/ studying games in general seemed to everyone like it came out of left field for me, i was never much of a gamer myself. i chose it because i'd wanted to learn art but not go to art school, and programming but not subject myself to a lifetime of being a programmer. I had been looking around for options and this course seemed a great fit, i took a gamble, and it worked out! although my career plans have changed the feeling that the skillsets i'm learning here could take me in any direction remains.
6/ recently i've been using a '10 minute planner' i think it's called again like i used to in korea. i prefer the physical copy at least at the moment, but i enjoyed the app yeolpumta (열품타) which has a similar concept too when i used it.

Yeolpumta Burns Forest Down
Yeolpumta is the ultimate study app, it means 'Passionate Timer'. You can do Pomodoros, lock your phone, listen to study music, and still use a dictionary. Instead of breaking your concentration, it allows you to go deep into your work. When I'm not doing something I hate, like work, I can go super deep like a hour and a half. You can track your trends by day, month, quarter, or year giving great info through charts, graphs, ranges, comparisons, and trends.
There's things I have to look up like D-day, schedule, and what the timetable are supposed to do. Planner is nice because it shows where you did what.
I used this to track my hours while studying for my Japanese class. Almost all of the group names are in Korean but nobody talks in the chat so who cares. I would just feel awkward if I tried to join a group and it was just irl friends. There's also an occasional push notification in Korean or little comment here and there but everything else is in English.
Now, I am tracking my side hustle, applications, Japanese learning, technical interview, and now my running. I ran today, I'm a runner now.
It isn't as invasive as video study rooms, you just see your avatar. You gotta pay real money for cute ones though like a cute study cat or anime girl. I hate buying things on apps but I was so tempted. The group I'm in is mostly dead, 8 active members in the last month but our most productive guy studied 73H so color me impressed. There's a public programming group and a leetcode group but appears to just be a group of friends from UW. In the public programming group, chat is disabled lmao.
Here's a reddit community for it : https://www.reddit.com/r/yeolpumta/

One Day at a Time
I have decided to take the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants in the Philippines this May 2023. A spur of moment decision, but a decision I won't back out from, nonetheless. Not after I have postponed it for the longest time.
This is an exciting, yet nerve-wracking, conquest for me since I only have roughly two months to go to study for the board exam. This is indeed a shoot-for-the-moon undertaking, but I would like to do my best all the same. May God help me.
I'll write my journey here from now on. Hopefully, I can keep this up every day.
My posts may range from Yeolpumta app screenshots, notes, (failed) plans, workout sessions, study with me video (lol jk, I don't have the gall to do so), and everything else that falls in between.
The next post will be about my targets. I have tried setting goals before and I always fail myself, but hopefully, I'll follow through with my plans this time around. Anyway, when you fail, they say it's an opportunity to begin more intelligently since you have learned from experience already.

That long break was a combination of despair and Jin’s discharge Weverse Live lmao. I’m absolutely cooked but I’m trying my best to get back into a routine after my burnout. My prof is letting me turn some late work in at a 10% penalty thankfully! Unfortunately I’m eternally nocturnal.

Goodmorning!! haha
The comic sounds like a super fun idea!! Glad you enjoyed the process and the outcome ^^
I've got the same problem with my screen time and procrastination. Especially the more often I do it. I go on the likes of instagram to get a dopamine boost and feel better but end up feeling so much worse afterwards. (Don't mind watching yt tho, such an unfortunate way for Mumbo to go, like..... srsly?)
But here are some tips:
Have a longer term To Do list that's primarily the important things you have to get done and do not throw it out or abandon it. That's what I normally tend to do, but being able to (eventually and slowly) cross off the tasks (after the list grew a few times) feels so rewarding and relieving
Trying physical &/ digital To Do's and trackers in different forms might be good. Of course not always the best thing to get started on with exams coming up but it can be beneficial if it works. Some good ones I know of: (that are all free)
Flocus is a (pomodoro) timer website, it's very aesthetic and simple to use, has lots features and a few different time tracking modes
Study Bunny is an app that let's you have a To Do list and flashcards, it rewards your study time (& tracks it, again with a few different modes) with coins which you can use to decorate your bunny and room. It's super adorable and I absolutely loved using it (Habit Rabbit is a similar concept but for habits and routines)
Habitica is a gamified app and website that let's you have habits and To Do tasks (of different difficulities) and assigned rewards which can either level up your character or harm them depending on if you completed the necessary tasks. It's easy to use, it has a big community over on discord and within the app through challenges (a set of habits &/ tasks) you can join
Yeolpumta and Toggl Track are time tracking apps, both are fairly easy to use. Yeolpumta has a community feature where you can study in 'rooms' with multiple people and see their current times. Toggl Track is more for businesses but it's really simple and works really well for me right now
Actual accountability buddies are also great. Within Habitica discord groups I know that there is an accountability channel where you can pop into a voice chat and have it silenced but have other ppl in the call with you while youse all do stuff in the background. The people in the group also run accountability checks where they can remind you/check in with you in whatever amount of time you ask to see how you've been doing with your task/if you've finished it (or you can message me and we can work smt out for accountability. I've got mock exams coming up, I'm trying to rebuild my habits and keep procrastination/screen time low)
Placing sticky notes or moving things to be directly in your way so you remember and do them is also really helpful
Not sitting down. I struggle remembering to do this too but once you're moving it's so much easier to keep moving and doing things than trying to do them after sitting down and getting comfy. Like I'm not exactly saying that you should do your homework standing up, but if you feel like you're gonna reach for your phone as soon as you sit down, just do a lap of your room or go downstairs to get some water or just do a spin and get into work immediately as you sit back down. This may also be a good way of getting back into work after procrastinating
I would aa more but since writing this I'm starting to forget about what you wrote and am starting to get worried I went off at a wrong tangent haha
But I hope smt works well for you and if you want more tips/abt something more specific (or abt accountability) feel free to send a message/ask 😊
✦ 17. 11. 24 ✦ 📓 ✦ Sunday ✦
Yesterday I legit sat the whole day and worked on my art assignment. And I loved it. I had to finish it this morning but I am so proud of it!! It´s a comic about me on our art class Venice trip (that was kinda the task).
But today... I have to say, my blog name is not made up and actually spot on. Because HOW did I manage to start and finish my philosophy homework the last minutes I planned for studying today??? I do is subconciously, it´s crazy! It makes me not want to try and change, because why fix something that works?? But I really should...
Oh, and reminder to everyone who needs it (after me): Wash your hair. The world will not feel like it´s falling apart after you have clean hair. trust.
Okay so now a longer update about school in general (Studying, exams, routine, etc.):
I love studying so much. I actually love to learn new shit and RIGHT NOW I am even excited about exam prep. I am aware, that it´s because I haven´t yet started, but I will from tomorrow on. Now I don´t have any test coming up soon, so I don´t have excuses anymore. I somewhat got a plan of what I need to do and decided that I will change my method slightly. But more about that later.
Now, for that to work I have a few challenges I need to overcome. I even had some today that I indetified:
-> mindless screen time: Even right now! Even right now I am twitching for my phone. Why? Simple - to procrastinate. Because I don´t have a problem with watching content I actually want to watch (Rip Mumbo in wild life yesterday). I more so feel like it has become a habit to scroll just to pass the time. Which is not optimal. I lose time, but I also just feel like shit afterwards. Lose lose situation. Ugh. How do I not do that?
have all kinds of tasks to do: big middle and small to choose instead of being overwhelmed with the big ones and scrolling instead.
just lay on the ground. Just lie down and after a moment you will be ready again, intead of entering the famous hole of the rabbit (that was supposed to be funny, it wasn´t)
Just plan more and make yourself deadlines.
Have a reminder that says all of this.
If anyone has read this far which i doubt, and has useful tips, pls tell me! Asks are always open <3
-> tiredness: planning will help with that so that my tasks will be sorted accordingly (I do sleep enough).
-> routine: I tried so may times already, but it will not stop me from trying again. I will do it :) (well..)
I probably have more to say but I need to go to sleep now. Goodnight!!

My study & organization apps as college student
First of all, is important to say that I’m 4th year Geography student and I use my cellphone (iPhone SE 2022) and a tablet (Samsung tab S7). Some apps are available just for one system, some are available for both. Biased that, some apps make sense for a GEOGRAPHY student, but may not be that helpful for other courses.
Tumblr media
Notion
This one is a classic by now, right? I think I don’t have a lot to say about it, seems a little like a bullet journal but virtually, were you can creat a lot of pages and centrals. I use as a bullet journal + agenda + diary + note taking app!
Tumblr media
Todomate
So, I discovered this app on Twitter and i’m IN LOVE with this! It’s like a social network, but where you can do to-do lists! As I said, it’s a social network, so you can add your friends and see their own to-do lists! You can also interact with them, liking their daily feelings and their tasks. It’s really fun and easy to use! You can also create private lists, routines etc. Love it! (That’s my count in the print, btw. You can add me there if you want to: HexGurlAcademia! My todo lists are all in portuguese? Yes, but…)
Tumblr media
Windy
The must have to geoscience students! It’s an app that shows you a lot of geodata! Really good to check when there’s a storm coming or any climate event.
Tumblr media
Noteshelf
Usually people use OneNote to do class notes, BUT it’s not available to android 🫠 but I founded this one! You can create groups, notebooks, transfer pdfs… I love to use this to read papers and texts for classes.
Tumblr media
Samsung Notes
Another alternative to android users who wants to have a virtual notebook. You can also use the app in your PC!
Tumblr media
Discord
So, did you know that there are a LOT of study communities on Discord? There are language learning communities, college servers (my university, for example, have one!), study buddies servers… I use to have study buddies and use pomodoro bots! There’s also a server I LOVE that has lo-fi rooms.
Tumblr media
Classify
This one is a routine app! You can put not just your semester classes, but all your extracurricular activities! You can count study hours, add when your exams will be, homeworks… I really liked this one!
Tumblr media
Habitica
Another routine app, but this one makes your tasks become a game! As more tasks you finish, you earn coins which you can exchange for things to up your character. You also earn xp to level up your character! I highly recommend it specially to teen/kid ADHD students! Trust me, it helps a lot transforming your life into a little game 😉
Tumblr media
Yeolpumta (or YPT)
This one is a study chronometer! You can create your on profile, add friends, create and participate of study communities etc. I like this app, but may be discomfortable to people with anxiety, cuz you can see how many hours the others have been studying. If you study a lot of hours, your avatar changes and you go up in the groups and general rank. I stop using this so much cuz I was really anxious about it :/
Tumblr media
Agenda Escolar
This one is a Brazilian app! Works very similar to Classify, but it’s a little simpler and 100% in brazilian portuguese.
Google stuff (Drive, Classroom etc)
Well, guess Skynet… I mean, Google, really dominate everything now… My college use Gmail to creat the institutional email for teachers and students, so EVERYTHING Google offers we use. Gmail, Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Meets, Classroom… Not that happy about it, but yeah, I have no scape anyway lol
