being in true sexyman nostalgia mode today (on account of. IT'S BEEN ONE YEAR BABY.) i think one of the most fascinating things about it is that we will never manage to do that again. like, not in a "we couldn't organize it better" way; there were better ways to do the spreadsheet, we would just turn off comments on posts and anon asks from day one so that we wouldn't then get people accusing us of censorship while we tried and failed to control the tide of things that ended up in the comments and inbox, we'd definitely have a WAY higher non-hermit contingent, both thanks to qsmp and thanks to the sexyman blog and medusa now having MUCH wider reach to other corners of the fandom and the original spread not all rooting at me, etc.

but the reason we couldn't do it again is that i don't know if we could ever replicate the exact circumstances that lead to it blowing up quite to the extent it blew up.

it was while tumblr polls and doing tumblr poll brackets on tumblr itself was still new-ish, and people were still excited about them. the idea of a mcytblr bracket was basically brand new; i won't claim we did it FIRST (because i have no idea if we did and doubt we did), but certainly we did it big first. so there's that; we can never again invent in real time "shit people are sending us threats about fraud lets legalize fraud because its funny, we can't stop it, and that neutralizes that drama as a thing anyone will take seriously", and then in turn accidentally invent a fandom culture of. um. wide-spread voter fraud.

(i don't know if we should apologize for, uh, causing the specific way mcytblr voter frauds. i still think it was better than the alternative at least, especially after seeing how so many other polls crashed and burned after us. there were MANY things we could have done better but i have seen SO MANY ways we could have done things worse since then so i think we came out looking pretty okay.)

but also: february 2023 was a very different time in mcytblr. we were in a hermitcraft dead period, where most of the hermits were either on vacation or playing tcg (which was fun, but didn't end up generating that much fandom activity by that time in february). the former dsmp crew was very much doing Nothing (and in that awkward space when the entire fandom knew dsmp 2 was never happening, but also people were still claiming it would happen, so it was just... busy waiting). qsmp didn't exist yet. there was no ongoing life series and wouldn't be for some time. i think even the dominioners and lifestealers were in a fairly dead zone. there was very little new for people to be excited about, mcyt content-wise.

enter: our poll. our poll which cleo then thinks its funny to call out on twitter. our poll, which was not only new mcyt content for the fandom to interact with (thanks to the fact we KEPT GETTING CC INTERACTIONS???), but participatory.

for about two weeks, we were the mcyt event de jour.

and like. the thing is. now we're in february 2024. mcyt is BOOMING. a new hermitcraft season JUST STARTED. we came off of vault hunters before that. meanwhile, qsmp just restarted and is, if i'm understanding correctly, booming. they just added a new guy! the two current juggernauts of the fandom are in FULL SWING. i honestly think we'd be somewhat overtaken by the fact things are actually happening in fandom. there's stuff to do that ISN'T go insane about a poll.

and it's not new, and we've seen it all before now, and frankly, it's hard to cause a mass hysteria event TWICE. lightning in a bottle, as they say.

i think part of the reason we all just REMEMBER mcytblr sexyman so much is that we could never, ever recreate it, so it remains crystalized in a single moment in time, impossible to replicate, forever memorable.

like in canon (or, at least taking Christine Thompson's word for it..), Cody's attraction to Gwen fizzled out after World tour ended. sure, they kept in contact for a little while after but eventually that came to an end as they naturally moved on with their lives

this was from another ask that's now invisible in my inbox (probably due to the account that asked being deactivated - its pretty much on me for not answering what's in my inbox sooner/being put off trying to put each ask into a coherent order, deepest apologies for that), but it's mainly Cody that constantly wonders how the other TDI contestants (except the ones that he already still sees personally) are going, I guess more as like a passing thought.

as for the Ezekiel question... oh man, I was sort of dreading when I would bring this up, since this idea has been stewing in my mind for a good while now, and admittedly, from one Zeke enjoyer to another, this will not a pleasant thing to reveal, but there needed to be a reason for Total Drama to be cancelled in this au, other than to needlessly justify why all newer generations of TD cast members are much younger than they are in canon

Ezekiel's dead. when he fell into that volcano in the World Tour finale, he didn't end up making it out (I mean, dude was submerged in BOILING LAVA - I get its a cartoon but its far from believable that someone could survive that). some say he was put out of his misery, others think it was a perfect example of how greed could ruin a person, but all in all, it was fucked. it was not a pretty death, and the fact that Chris and the TD production crew still had the AUDACITY to keep footage of and broadcast someone's death on international TV was enough to get the show cancelled immediately and get the shit sued out of Chris. at least now he can't terrorise anymore teens, sucks to be him...

But finding your blog has been an absolute blessing cause Ratio always frustrated me as a character cause I couldn't sort out thoughts about him or entirely figure him about but reading your posts about him is scratching the itch on my brain that's been there for a while now and I absolutely adore it. There's a whole youtube vide on why Alhaitham & Ratio are not similar, and I wouldn't say that Kaveh & Aventurine are similar either. Alhaitham is generally a self-focused guy who doesn't want excitement and literally wants a normal life, while Dr. Ratio is reaching for the stars and wants to better the lives of literally everyone in the universe. Also, Kaveh and Aventurine share traits of being overworking (and they have dead desert dads), but I would consider Aventurine far more reserved than Kaveh is. They deal with business differently - Aventurine drives a hard bargain and takes deals that benefit him, while Kaveh's goodwill usually wins out on him and he gives into his empathy far more often. Honestly? The theories about Ratio being Kavehtham's love child is so fucking real, because he has the Autism from Alhaitham and his love for maths and his inner kindness from Kaveh.

Their darling probably tried to escape once, but only midway stopped herself and the moment she notices them, she runs back and apologies repeatedly? Earlier she was mortified with her situation, but now she fully submit. Their darling probably clings onto them sometimes, giving them a form of affection even if this relationship is extremely harmful.

Maybe their darling would even go as far as to defend//protect them if they're given the opportunity to even talk to others and they suspect things.

cyno is pissed when he comes home to find you gone, and it takes every ounce of self restraint in him to not flip the fuck out. he breathes slow and heavy as he looks in every possible place you could be, thoroughly making sure that you really aren’t there—and when he comes to the conclusion that you aren’t, he angrily storms out of the house to go look for you. he almost missed you, your frame hidden well behind a crate in front of the house, but he couldn’t have missed the weak cry that left your lips as he stormed by. he was honestly surprised when you tightly grabbed the fabric on his waist, crying as you murmured how sorry you were for trying to escape.

scenario ;

“what the fuck were you thinking?” he practically growled as he bent down to pick you up. you bite your lip and turn away from him, embarrassed by the whole situation, but you still cling to him despite how bad you’re feeling.

“i’m so sorry, please forgive me. i’ll never run away again.” you sob, shoving your face into his chest. cyno doesn’t say anything, but you can tell he’s angry because of how tightly he’s holding you against him. you’re sure there will be faint bruises where his fingers are later on, but you don’t really mind. you’re just happy to be back with him.

after running away, a group a eremites followed you until they had you cornered. all you could think in the moment was how scared you were, and that you wished cyno was there to protect you, because you knew he would. it made you sick to think about those things—you didn’t want to want him, you didn’t want to depend on him. you were lucky enough that you could run away from the eremites before they could catch you, and subconsciously you found yourself back at cyno’s house. you couldn’t help but cry as you realized the kind of situation your gotten yourself into.

“yeah, you fucking won’t. not after i’m done with you.” your lip quivers at the thought of what he might do to you, but you nestle further into him and try not to think too much about it for now—instead focusing on how warm and comfortable he’s making you feel in his arms.

childe panics when he realizes you’re not in your room anymore, instead probably deep into the snowy woods of snezhnya by now. his first instinct is to massacre all the fatui guards that let you escape, but when he realizes how dangerous it is for you to be out all alone, he quickly abandons the thought for the time being to go find you—and when he does, his heart nearly stops. you’re curled in the snow, breathe shaking and ragged as you shiver uncontrollably from the incessant coldness against your skin. he thought you were dead at first, and you might as well have been. he doesn’t hesitate to take your limp body into his arms, wrapping his fur coat around you tightly before taking you home.

scenario ;

you didn’t expect to wake up surrounded in warmth—really, you didn’t expect to wake up at all. after running away you quickly realized just how bad of an idea it was. you missed the warmth and comfort of childe’s house, as much as you hated to admit it. you desperately wanted to be tucked in his arms again where you were safe from the sharp biting winds and cool pricks of snow—in his arms where you were meant to be.

you did try to go back before he noticed, but you failed to realize just how bad the storm had gotten, and you quickly got lost. it was only so long before you’d collapsed in the snow, wrapping your arms tightly around your shivering body, trying to cling to the last bits of warmth you had left. you could barely feel anything as you passed out, your last thought being how you regretted ever leaving childe’s mansion.

the last thing you’d expected was to wake up wrapped in blankets near a fire, tucked tightly into childe’s side. at best, you thought that childe would’ve thrown you in a cell and kept you there for who knows how long to punish you for running away. but this was an outcome you wouldn’t dare complain about, because this was way better than all the horrible ways you could’ve died or been punished.

you grabbed his thick jacket tightly and nuzzled further into his warm body, the chill from earlier still lingering faintly. biting your lip you mustered up the courage to whisper an apology—one barely audible, but you knew childe heard when he hummed and wrapped another blanket around you.

maybe you’d be punished later, but right now you couldn’t help but enjoy the warmth childe provided you.

hey so for the angle that cries ink ive been wondering how jon like got under the institute in the first place and how similar he is to the jon the know, the character from TMA. like before he was trapped was he our precious little guy who read statements and then immediately disagreed with him or is he more like an OC with a completely different backstory. i don’t know a whole lot about fics in general or how much youre willing to share about this one in particular but i would love to know some things about jons backstory if you could share? idk a whole lot about much of anything rn or if youve shared anything yet that I just haven’t seen so idk this is your sign to tell me as much as you want whenever you want to ig

considering I haven't written anything but chapter 1 so far... and I did yell about this on my blog before, I don't consider this a spoiler. Jon was put under the Institute by Jonah Magnus! You could say that the Institute was built because of Jon, but that's not quite true. However, the place Jon resides and has for like idk 150 years of his 200 that he's spent on this earth was made to be a home for BOTH of them. That, obviously didn't happen, and now its Jon's prison. As for if Jon is the same... yes and no. Yes, he was canon all the way up until the finale, spoilers for mag 198 and 199 and 200, but he went kinda crazy, if killing Jonah, becoming the pupil and then going through with his plan to burn out the fears is crazy. I think its real sensible! (that's a joke). Anyway, mag 200 didn't go according to plan. the panopticon didn't blow, and Jon set about his villian era. I have no idea how I'm gonna write it but he basically waged war, being marked by all fears, he could puppet them (thanks web) to a degree, and he pitted them against eachother to the death. The world burned. He BECAME the Extinction, do you get me? And he kept Martin by his side until, well. He was caught in the crossfire. The End doesn't barter its dead, even to God. Martin was gone, and Jon quickly destabilized and was deposed. I'm pretty sure he was draged kicking and screaming (and cursing) to hilltop house and the rift and thrown into it. Thus, the web's plan was ultimately fulfilled, it just took like a century. In the void between millions of realities, the fears (mainly the web) reshaped Jon. As punishment for him trying to escape the strings he'd been dancing on, he was remade in a mockery of the savior he had tried to be. Markless, beautiful and ethereal, connected to every fear, a harbinger, an angel. They took his voice too, his only weapon. Jon was brought to an almost identical world, but 200 years into the past, and given directly into the grasp of one Jonah Magnus who was just dipping toes into the supernatural. Jon's punishment, is to be immortal, and to be the reason every single person he cares about or so much as knows, falls to the fears. he is the reason they are here, after all. So yeah. That's Jon. He's been alive for 200 years, and all he wants to do is see Martin again, and apologize. Only, his Martin is dead, and this world's Martin has no knowledge of Jon's feelings or even his existence.

A Miner's Fate - Kujou Sara x Male!Reader

A/N: There's an unusual amount of limb loss asks on this blog, huh? Well, I don't mind. But it is interesting, for sure.

Working in industry isn't an easy job. It never was, not in the ancient times, and still not nowadays. The scientific developments from Fontaine brought elevators and fire extinguishers, but they did little to alleviate the risk. 

You couldn't be more thankful for your occupation. While others worked hard in the mines, you got the privilege to fill the role of the head geologist of Jakotsu Mine. Though your duties still included going into the mines, the trips were short and shallow - nothing like those of the actual miners. You only had to inspect the excavated ore and identify new veins. 

Still, even those worry your fiance without end. The amount of sleepless nights she spent thinking about an accident in the mines is countless. Every single time there was news of an accident in the mines, her mind instantly went to you. Maybe you died? Or were buried in some closed off tunnel, soon to starve to death? 

But truth be told… Deep within, Sara didn't believe something could happen to you. Such accidents exist only in rumors, right? They always happen to outsiders, people she never knew, never cared about. Not her Y/N. 

And yet it came to her. It wasn't a question of if, but one of when. 

A cave-in. You were doing a routine check up in one of the dead-end ducts when a methane explosion collapsed a part of the tunnel. Your coworkers had the time to hide by the walkway's edges, but you were caught in between two storage containers. Unable to flee, unable to save yourself. Crushed under tonnes of cold, hard rock. 

Luckily, you didn't die in the incident. Right leg crushed to a pulp, the other one broken, neck fractured, all of your ribcage in pieces, skull cracked… It's a miracle you even survived transport. 

"Don't you dare let him die" was what Sara told the surgeon as you were wheeled into the operation room. 

The wait was long and painful. Being the general, Sara was used to stressful situations - not ones of this sort, however. It struck something she has had for not that long yet. A loved one. Sara didn't cry. Not yet. The time for that would be at your funeral, not now. She needed to be strong, not only for you, but for herself as well. 

And strong she remained, for the entire nine hours. The uncertainty crushed her soul, bending and pushing the boundaries of her resolve. Yet she held firm. 

The tears fell only when she could, at last, stand beside your hospital bed. Sara took your hand, wrapped in dry gauze, and cried into it. She apologized, for what - she didn't know herself. She slept inside the room, uncaring for her mundane duties. The war was long over. There was no more closure to be had, no more battles to plan. Only training and paperwork. She came out of it forever changed as well. Her realization of what exactly the Raiden Shogun got Inazuma into inspired a change in her priorities. Her loved ones, the only that would support and understand her, should be valued above all else. Of those people, only you remained. 

When you woke up, her joy was immense. She thanked you, thanked the Archons, thanked the doctors you were safe. She could finally feel the grip of your hand, weak as it was, on her own. A part of the normality she lost that day was back. Only for a moment, however. 

Sara knew that what she saw was not her lover, but pieces of him. Her whole world, shattered by the unfeeling earth. You were alive, yes, but the road to recovery would be long and taxing - of that Sara was sure. You could barely sleep, eat, talk, breathe due to the excruciating pain from your injuries. She heard your groans, moans, cries and gasps of agony on a daily basis. You were suffering, and she could do little to lift your pain. 

She wasn't a doctor, but she would still try to help, as much as she possibly could. and help she did. 

Her presence was priceless for you. Your life changed forever, all the nightmarish events leading up to the event resulting in pain beyond comparison. You've lost an entire limb. You would never be the same. You would not run, jump, or climb ever again. 

This was impossible to accept, at first. You thrashed, cried, screamed at your unfeeling abuser. You cursed out every rock, every grain of sand for your situation. The screams fell on Sara's ears, squeezing out every tear she had in her body. She knew you needed time, but it didn't make anything easier. Seeing you in pain hurt her as well.

She assured you that losing a leg did nothing to decrease your value to her. More - it proved your resolve, as to withstand such an injury one must have truly remarkable endurance, both mental and physical. The wound was, and still is a proof of your might. To be able to crawl back up from something like this is no small feat. 

As soon as the doctors told her that you would live, Sara started looking for a prosthesis. Using the advice of every doctor she knew, she selected a very expensive model, and ordered it from Snezhnaya. Your life and comfort were much more important to her than her personal conflicts. 

She could have bought one earlier, yes, but she didn't. Sara knew that, if you would not make it, the item would be an extremely painful memoir of you. She wanted to wait to spare herself from the inevitable agony that would bring. 

From the first steps, up to the short marathons, Sara was with you. She held your hand when you got up again, when you used the wooden supports, then a cane, until you could stand on your own two legs again. Even then, her hand always found yours. 

Ultimately, despite the terrible nature of the situation, the experience brought you even closer to each other, and made you nearly inseparable. 

Sara swore one cold night, under a full moon and a clear sky, that she would be there for you. And she wishes to keep that promise, for as long as she draws breath.

One is with Subaru where Subaru apologizes for that he couldn't see him before. . .it kind of sounded like he was aware of Zenji but had never seen him in person maybe? But he legit feels bad that he simply. . .did not have the ability to see the ghost. Zenji's chill about it because "you can see me now though!" So it's not that sad, but it's sad from Subaru's point of view

Another is him having Haku film him for a video and Haku's like "i guess i'd better think of a good way to frame this backdrop" because he knows neither Zenji nor Zenji's voice will be in the video. . . . And Zenji sends you the video and you tell him you don't see or hear him and he gets upset and confused. . .he says haku must have made a mistake filming. . .i don't think anybody has the heart to tell him. . .or maybe he just wouldn't believe it.

Another is Zenji saying he's going to have like a street jam session with some friends and you go there and see Zenji in the back playing his heart out. . .and everyone's loving the music, they leave them money too, and then the band members leave and they comment on hearing a strange twanging noise(Zenji's biwa) the whole time and wondering if something was wrong with the equipment. . .or maybe it was a ghost? And you realize Zenji thought they were talking to him and agreeing to perform with him and stuff but they didn't know he was there at all, the entire time. . . .

One of his winter voicelines he says something like "it's cold, why don't you come closer to me? What do you mean that'll only make you feel colder?"

Like I really don't think he realizes he's dead. . .I'm wondering how he got to darkwick in the first place, is he actually enrolled or did he just start hanging out there after dying? Was he a general student who unknowingly died on a mission? (One of his home screen dialogues has him worried you were gone because something happened on a mission, so i'm leaning towards that.) Did he die from his demon pact or something else??? Did he die before or after becoming a ghoul? Doesn't that make choosing him in the pre-prologue completely irrelevant? Or does he move on if he thinks he's died?

Also WHY CAN TOWA SEE AND HEAR HIM. More points for Towa being sus. Also that he calls him "Iris" when (allegedly?) in historic Japanese culture irises warded off evil spirits is hilarious. He probably hates him because he sees him as an unruly anomaly, but maybe he can't be electrocuted or intimidated into submission because he doesn't realize he's an anomaly.

He also apologized right up until the moment Olruggio's memories of his secret were gone. In general I think chapter 40 is the somewhat toxic guy yuri chapter ever. I'm very tired so I do not know how to explain any of this, I just thought "wow Orufrey reminds me of this one poll I saw on Tumblr" and then spent three days straight hunting for your blog before completely forgetting my reasoning for Orufrey being yuri right before I submitted this."

I am here to bring myself closer to the people in order to shape my revolution, and generally continue to heal from the trauma that is my life.

I'm willing to talk about/RP pretty much anything: konoha, its citizens, the ninja world, the non-ninja world, my family, history, furries, whatever. Keeping in mind I'm not trying to be overly serious, and almost all of my posts will be for the sake of humour (that doesn't mean there won't be kernels of truth in what I say). You can ask me about my opinion on these things through my ask or on posts. If you want to say something privately to me you can message me, but don't lead in with something like "hi" only and wait for me to respond (I'll ignore it because I'll assume you're a BBW MILF in my area or something).

I'm not going to talk about anything inflammatory or requires serious thought on greater world topics as I feel that's inappropriate (eg. I won't talk about ongoing wars in specifics). If I see you reblogging my posts in what I feel is an overly antagonistic way, towards myself or others (the most common form of this is I write a post saying I don't like someone, and someone reblogs with "YEAH fuck [female character] she's a [vulgar misogynistic slur] #[female character's name]"), I'll block you. This is meant to be a restorative account to make me and others feel good.

In terms of roleplaying:

I'm okay with interacting with anyone, but if I don't know who you are please forgive me and I'll ask you to introduce yourself

I'm always "in character" even in DMs, it's just easier that way for me

I use emojis and gifs to communicate actions and expressions sometimes, it's just more comfortable for me that way as it's easier for me to communicate visually

If you're someone who should be dead/disappeared/whatever in canon, the feelings I would have towards you will remain as they should. If you want to discuss a storyline on this, let me know.

I know some roleplayers type story-like things with each other (closed RPs? starters?), I won't do that because I just don't have the energy for it. If you wanna go through a certain situation with me just bring it up in a post you tag me in or inbox me and I'll respond!

I talk about sasunaru primarily since this is a canon-ish blog, but I'm open to alternate stories so long as they develop naturally.

A reminder that everything I post is from my perspective and based on my opinion. FYI I see the Naruto manga as a biographical re-telling of certain events (everything until chapter 699), and the anime as an interpretation of the biography (therefore some filler will be true to me). Therefore, any time I present thoughts on these things, they may not always be 100% in line with what's shown-- basically this blog is semi-canon divergent.

Feel free to add to my posts in disagreement but I might not respond. If I annoy you or you consistently take issue with something I say, block me for your own sake. If I said something to upset you and you don't want to block me, you can just tell me and I'll 99% apologize, but 100% address it with respect.
