💞Aphrodite & Ares⚔️
I recently got a Greek mythology book as there are some aspects I am still unaware of.. and one of those were Ares and his myths. After reading the myths, I love him. Like I already thought he was cool, but now it's on a whole different level...
The painting in the center (Alexandre Charles Guillemot, Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan, 1827.) has become one of my favorite paintings. It's so beautiful.

Pygmalion and his Statue
Artist: Louis-Jean-François Lagrenée (French, 1725–1805)
Date: 1777
Medium: Oil on canvas
Collection: Sinebrychoff Art Museum, Helsinki, Finland
Description
Pygmalion, a sculptor from Amathus on Cyprus, was discouraged by the morals of women and chose to focus on his art. He carved a realistic statue of his ideal woman out of ivory and named her Galatea. Pygmalion prayed to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, to make Galatea come to life. Aphrodite answered his prayers and brought the statue to life. Pygmalion and Galatea married and had a child named Paphos.

I've been wondering why Andrew is (seemingly solely) attracted to Ashley. While I hope episode 3 can show why he developed that, I have two theories, both that can co-occur: Everyone puts so many high expectations on Andrew as a kid because he's smart and responsible from having to take care of Ashley, do the groceries, and cook. Obviously his mom would not be happy if he doesn't meet any of her very high and age inappropriate expectations, so he's always anxious of letting people down. But Ashley always loves him no matter what, so he became attracted to her as he grew older, not able to trust others won't reject him.
My second theory is that with Andrew's need for control and having raised Ashley, he is attracted to her because he molded her to be what he needs. That voicemail video heavily implies that is the case because him calling Ashley "his piece of work" can mean she's crazy but his crazy or that he literally raised her. I also think that Andrew shaped Ashley to be so dependent on him, with his putdowns that hit her insecurities hard and possibly demonization of other men, which is both his greatest joy and regret.

Turkish Archaeologists Unearth Sculpted Heads of Ancient Greek Deities
The excavations in Kutahya province’s ancient city of Aizanoi, which is the site of many ancient Greek and Roman-era settlements, discover the statue heads of Dionysus and Aphrodite.
Turkish archaeologists have discovered more sculpted heads of ancient Greek deities during excavations in Türkiye's western Kutahya province.
The statue head of Aphrodite, known as the goddess of love and beauty in Greek mythology, and the statue head of Dionysus, the deity of wine, were discovered during excavation work in an ancient city in central Türkiye.
Modern Türkiye is the site of many ancient Greek and Roman-era settlements.
With a history dating back 5,000 years, Aizanoi, situated 50 kilometres (31 miles) from the Kutahya city centre, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2012.
Archaeological excavations are currently underway in Aizanoi, which is located in the Cavdarhisar district of Kutahya province and is home to Anatolia's best-preserved Temple of Zeus.
Archaeology professor and excavation team leader Gokhan Coskun told Anadolu Agency that numerous statue pieces were discovered during the excavation.
"The most exciting development for us this season is uncovering new heads of the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite, and the deity of wine Dionysus," Coskun said.
"In the excavation works we have conducted in the region so far, we have unearthed more than 100 statue pieces. Some of the heads found are from statues that are 2-3 meters long," he noted.
"These statue heads, which we first discovered three years ago, are in very well-preserved condition. During our excavations, so far we have discovered two Aphrodite and three Dionysus statue heads," Coskun said.
The excavation season, which began in the ancient city last April, will be completed by the end of this month, Coskun added.
