CHAPTER 19 ― VENGEANCE

“He is dead, Mark. We had already killed him.. How..”

SUMMARY ― General Mourax who had worked with King Morian, has appeared in Aerina’s palace but the twist is, he is dead and he is out for vengeance.

CHARACTERS ― Princess Riana Aera/Princess Diana, Queen Aerina (White Queen), Grandma Kim, Zen Alberto, Morian Princes (Got7), Neo Brothers (NCT)

WARNINGS/AUTHOR’S NOTE ― Slight Angst and Fluff, Mention of Blood, Mention of Murder, a slightly long post, i had revamp the whole mood boards and characters so yeah, Sungchan and Shotaro is in this au but they would be introduced later but for now, we get a glimpse on what happen to them.

“I’m excited for tomorrow!”

“What do we have for tomorrow?”

“... Seriously, Dejun… Swordsmanship class!”

“Aww… I’m not in the class..”

“Don’t worry, Taeil. I could tell mother to have you in, if you want to.”

“Really?!”

While Taeil, Kun, Doyoung, Winwin and Xiaojun were having their own conversation while walking back into Aerina’s palace, something caught Renjun’s and Chenle’s eyes - that they had to stop walking further.

“Guys! Stop!” Renjun yelled while Chenle grabbed Taeil and Winwin since they were just in front of him.

“What? Why? What’s wrong?” Taeil turned back to see the two youngests panicking.

He saw where Renjun was gazing at, which made him follow where Renjun is turning too.

Taeil’s slight gasp made the other Neo Brothers’ to stop their tracks and turned towards where both Taeil and Renjun were looking to.

Most of them gasp in horror, seeing a huge black mist with a mixture of thunderstorms.

“....What is that?” Kun muttered- somehow looking concerned to see a black mist appearing right near the back field, earning gazes from the older one.

“That looks… like an old and dark looking portal.” Winwin added, at the same time flipping through a book that he carried for today’s lessons.

“Save the book, Sicheng! And we have to go!” Doyoung started to gather the others, causing them to look at him with frowns.

“What?! Why?! What is that portal!?!” Xiaojun questioned in anxiety, at the same time following Doyoung and the rest.

“According to the book…. It’s a portal back from the ancient age and it is a bad portal!” Winwin yelled as he was scanning through a section of the book.

“Guys! We have to hurry!” Chenle shrieked, seeing more dark knights appearing out of the dark portal.

“Princess Aretha Anthia, the 1st born of the White Queen and King Morian. She was being sent to an island when she was just a child, in order to protect her from the Red Queen. Currently, we are looking for her location but… it seems we couldn’t get a hold of her.”

“Followed by you, the 2nd born followed by Princess Ariane Aurelia, the 3rd born to the White Queen and Wolf King, a younger sibling to you and Princess Anthia.”

“Unfortunately, she was sadly murdered by the Red Queen. But.. there was news from an insider of the Red Queen’s castle that she was being captured by the Red Queen for her whole life.”

Aera could only stare at the big family portrait, not knowing that tears were rolling down her cheeks - watching two girls holding onto a child, holding each others’ hands.

She is just a child..

How could the Red Queen have a heart to kill her?

The White Queen and Grandma Kim lead her to where the statue of Goddess Athena was, and there was actually a hidden statue which Grandma Kim revealed with her magic - to see the statue of Artemis and Aphrodite, revealing itselves slowly next to the statue of Goddess Athena.

Following along the concrete stairwells, fire started to light up at the side as they followed the footsteps - revealing a different kind of basement and room.

Most of the items were mini statues of greek goddesses but one caught Aera’s attention, which was a red silk cloth covering a huge frame that was hung on the wall.

Grandma Kim together with the White Queen revealed something that they had kept from her - from the whole kingdom regarding what happened, it was actually one of the biggest tragedies that happened in her own family.

I have sisters all along?

But why don’t I have any memories of them?

The three girls seemed happy and carefree, since they looked like they were giggling while the photo was being taken.

Aera couldn’t process much of what Grandma Kim had told her - but what she knows from the tragedy is that the murderer was the Red Queen, she has an older sister and a younger sister, which she would always play with but she would always be separated from her by her own father.

But sadly, one of them may or may not be dead..

“Aera..” A hand was placed on her shoulders - knowing whose cold hands it was.

Turning towards the figure, Aera could already see the mascara staining on her cheeks, knowing the White Queen was crying due to this.

“Why didn’t you tell me..?” Aera whispered, at the same time holding onto the White Queen’s hand.

All this while, she had been suffering and it led to her own insanity.

Aera felt sorry for her.

“I know.. I’m sorry! I couldn’t bare to—

The White Queen was cut off by Aera, who surprisingly engulfed her into a tight hug. Hearing the quiet sobs, the White Queen could only hug the young one back - already reading Aera’s thoughts, she was surprised that Aera understood her.

As they were having their own moment, the ground suddenly shook which made both of them shriek.

Grandma Kim was the only one who was aware of her surroundings.

Her head turned towards the big portrait, seeing the face of the Wolf King’s eyes turning red.

“Get up! We have to leave!” Grandma Kim hurried the both of them as they were on the floor.

“What? And what happened till the ground shook like an earthquake?” Aera questions in curiosity while helping her own mother.

Looking towards Grandma Kim who was about to answer her question, Aera’s attention turned behind to see an unwelcome figure.

Aera was fast enough to see what it was going to do but Grandma Kim was a second faster to shield the 3 of them using her magical wooden stick - a visible light blue shield surrounding them.

“Who is that..?” Aera whispered, at the same time shielding the White Queen.

Turning towards Grandma Kim, she had this stoic expression and Aera knew the elderly somehow recognized that unknown figure, to her.

“It can’t be…. That’s the Wolf King’s general, General Amoux.”

“..Done!” Hendery cheered happily, displaying his brand new portrait near the window.

“That’s cute!” Yangyang commented while sitting up, turning towards Hendery’s painting corner.

“It is, right?!? I mean, this would be placed in the hallways of our new palace!” exclaimed Hendery and Yangyang could only nod slowly - entertaining his brother who was busy complementing his own drawing.

As Yangyang was looking at Hendery’s other art pieces, his attention turned towards the window.

His eyes were squinting while jolting up, as he went closer towards the window.

Yangyang’s eyes widened twice as he got a grasp of the situation outside - seeing one of the dark knights started to shoot out dark hue blasts but it seems there was a barrier protecting Aerina’s palace.

Causing both Yangyang and Hendery to fall out of the sudden shake of the whole palace.

Before Hendery could even question what was going on, loud footsteps could be heard and when he was about to shift himself, there came Mark and Lucas - looking like they had run miles.

“Are you guys alright?!?” Lucas came running towards both of them - somehow hugging them a little too tight.

“I— Yeah.. But what’s going on? Why are there guards out there?” Hendery questioned, somehow pointing towards the outside.

That’s when the ground started to shake again, causing the 4 of them to hold each other.

“I-I don’t even know!” Mark said in a rush, at the same time holding onto Yangyang’s arm as he looked very confused - while Lucas was holding onto Hendery’s hand, asking him to stick to the taller one closely.

“Huh?!? Is there another war?!? What’s going on?! And where are Jaemin and Haechan?!” Yangyang shrieked slightly.

The 4 of them had to go down to meet the others.

“Shit.” Lucas muttered while pulling the other 3 of them.

Lucas was fast enough to already see the knights that had dark hues’ around them - signalling towards his 3 other brothers to go the way up since the dark knights were about to bump into them.

They tried to hide themselves, their backs attached to the walls.

Hendery and Yangyang had to look at Lucas and Mark’s reaction - since they are vampires and they had better senses than them.

Seeing their reaction, Yangyang sighed in relief as he realized something - looking through the quiet and weirdly cold surrounding.

“Guys… where exactly…. are we?”

‘We shouldn’t be here!!’

‘I’m not dumb, Jaemin. I know.’

‘Then what the heck are we doing here? This place looks sketchy and we probably should get back up. The others are probably fighting out there.’

Haechan glared towards Jaemin while holding onto his hand - somehow guiding him at the same time pulling his hand.

The both of them were actually escaping from very strange looking knights - and Jaemin who somehow listens to history lessons said that they were guards from ancient age, where magic and sorcery exists.

They could tell these knights weren’t just ordinary, seeing somehow dark hues and auras surrounding them.

While they were trying to escape, Haechan found an area where there were 3 statues of greek goddesses - Aphrodite, Athena and Artemis.

What's strange is that the statue of Aphrodite and Artemis were destroyed by the head while the statue of Athena was still in one piece. Haechan didn't hesitate to look around the statue of Artemis, then to see a glimpse of brown, revealing to be a door.

Both of them somehow entered the secret area, then to reveal a dark basement. The room was dark since the lights were dimmed.

Scared that they might get caught, both of their backs leaning against the wall as they tried to go in deeper - then to hear crashing sounds here and there.

As Jaemin was trying to take a peek, red hues were being thrown right next to them since they were near the open area.

Recognizing the familiar red hues, Jaemin frowned while turning towards Haechan.

‘Princess Aera is here!’

Throwing out random red blasts, Aera could only hide behind the walls while rocks were randomly being thrown at her side.

The White Queen and Grandma Kim had tried their ways to stop them, but instead, their energy was somehow weakening as they tried to fight him.

Aera surprisingly made a portal for them to go back to the main grounds.

“Come on, Scarlet Witch! Come out and fight me! Don’t be a coward!” His voice echoed towards the silent, dark hallway.

Aera could only close her eyes, cursing in her mind before stepping out to let out a more powerful energy blast.

She didn’t see this coming, but General Amoux has powers too - more powerful than hers since he was someone from the Ancient Age, but Aera didn’t know this.

She just knew that he was someone who worked for her father.

He started shooting out black blasts every second - causing Aera to fluster as she tried to shield herself despite her falling every second she received the black blast.

Aera could feel it, which was strange.

She never feels this way.

She had never felt that her energy was draining.

Aera started to levitate - for the first time and although she was kind of excited that she could fly, she knew didn’t have the time to get excited - since the enemy was just in front of her.

Gathering all her energy, random objects on her surroundings started to form into knives as it started to attack General Amoux all at once.

The knives gruesomely attached to his bodies, seeing black blood tracing down on his body.

Smirking slightly, Aera let out the last energy blast she made - aiming towards General Amoux, his body roughly landed on the end of the room.

Sensing his life condition, Aera knew he was about to die and when the coast was clear, Aera fly to the back of the room - to see the two boys basically hiding themselves, not realising Aera was looking down to them,

“You shouldn’t be here.”

The firm voice made Haechan jump slightly, at the same time looking around.

“Whose voice is that!?!” Haechan muttered warily as I was looking around too.

But when I slowly looked up, I couldn't help but gulp the lump on my throat while nudging onto Haechan who was next to me.

The princess slightly glared towards me and I instantly knew she was going to reprimand us - and yet Haechan didn’t notice her presence since he kept dodging my arm.

“Stop it! I’m trying to see if there is—

“He’s dead.” Princess Aera showed herself this time, in front of Haechan, causing him to gasp in surprise - as he nearly stumbled back, but princess Aera perfectly caught him by grabbing his arm.

“We heard a few sounds and—

“That doesn’t give you the reason to just come down here, Jaemin. It’s dangerous. Your brothers could be worried.” Princess Aera muttered, at the same time her expression softened as she turned towards me.

“...I’m sorry, it was my fault. I saw the broken statue of Artemis and hence the brown door…” Haechan muttered, his head hanging low.

The both of us thought the princess was about to scold us furthermore but instead, she chuckled while ruffling Haechan’s hair.

I could see Haechan looking up, seeing Aera smiling as she somehow looked around.

And as usual, I could feel my own cheeks turning red whenever the princess smiled.

Just like others, I find princess Aera’s smile to be healing.

Clearing my own throat, I turned towards the princess. “Anyway, how could you manage to kill him?”

“..Well.. I don’t know.. You sounded like he was unkillable.” Princess Aera answered, sounding clueless.

"He used to be unkillable. That general worked with the Red Queen secretly and he got that power from her. King Morian and Queen Aerina had tried to kill him since there were rumors that he murdered their third daughter which is... your younger sister.." Haechan explained, for the first time sounding serious.

“Our parents too, had both tried to kill him since he killed two of our brothers.” Haechan muttered at the end, and I quickly nudged on his arm - shaking my head for him not to say more.

This was a topic that we, our own brothers, aren’t supposed to converse about.

The last time we tried to talk about this, it caused the older ones to argue till they had a fist-fight - blaming each other for their deaths.

But both of them were trying to protect us.

There was no one to blame other than the murderer itself.

There was a visible frown coming from the princess.

“...And no wonder I had no remorse for killing him..” the princess muttered as her eyes went downcast.

There was a slight sniff coming from Haechan, and I looked towards him - to see him having his head go downcast and I could literally see teardrops coming down from his cheeks.

Haechan…

I didn’t expect this nor Haechan, to see the princess somehow engulfing Haechan into a hug at the same time patting his back - at the same time giving him words of comfort.

And this is the reason why our brothers didn’t want to speak about the tragedy. It causes the younger ones to shed tears.

“We should keep an eye on each other and to not forget the ones who have passed on. I’m sure the two of them are watching over all of you.” Princess Aera added, at the same time towards me with a slight smile.

At the same time engulfed me for a hug, which I jumped onto her at the same time trying not to shed any tears.

It seems that Princess Aera and I almost could relate to each others’ feeling of missing each others’ presence. I could feel her gripping onto me a little too tight, and I nearly forgot about Haechan being beside me until he showed up after looking around.

But, he looked like he had seen a ghost.

I had to let go of the princess, turning towards Haechan who looked terrified.

“Haechan, you look—

“He is gone!”

“Who is gone?” The princess looked towards Haechan, and she was gazing onto Haechan - before running towards where Haechan went off, knowing she had read his mind.

Following her footsteps, my eyes widened twice - seeing previously the body of General Moux was at, now is nowhere to be found.

They were gearing up after hearing that Jinyoung and Jackson had sent a message to Jaebeom, that Aerina’s palace was being attacked - which was weird.

The kingdom is a peaceful place, and they know how Queen Aerina is like now.

So it was weird when Jaebeom received a personal letter from Aerina’s letter-boy - and knowing it was serious since Jinyoung had to personally write a letter.

All of them were rushing here and there, especially Mark since he was now in-charge on assigning the knights. Usually it was Jackson’s job but since he was gone, Mark had to take the matter in his own hands.

As they were quickly gearing up, the door of the weapon room opened to reveal the usual face of Jaebeom’s partner.

“Oh! Where is everyone going?” Larisa questioned as soon as she met the eyes of the 5 men - but they could only glance towards Jaebeom, before continuing to gear up, letting the leader answer his girlfriends’ question.

“We.. are going to Aerina’s Kingdom.” Jaebeom answered simply, and Larisa’s face immediately turned sour as she frowned while whining.

“..Why!?! Can’t you just stay here… I mean there isn’t anything important going on right now,.... right..?”

Mark could only clench his jaw in annoyance.

“No, can’t do.. We are attending a party right now… For goodness sake! Can’t you read the room?! Where on earth do you think we would be doing with these heavy ass shields?!” Bambam responded with an annoyed tone before taking the sword and shield.

He didn’t even wait for her response. Bambam walked past her, slightly glaring at her side before completely exiting the room - followed by Yugyeom, not even glancing towards Larisa.

“Jaebeom, we will wait for you outside.” Youngjae acknowledges Jaebeom, patting his side before leaving the room too - also not acknowledging Larisa’s presence as he completely walked past her.

“Rude.” Larisa muttered, as she leaned against the door - watching Jaebeom and Mark since they were the only ones in the room.

Mark clearly ignored her as he turned towards Jaebeom.

“I found out who attacked Aerina’s palace.” Mark commented, his hands gripped on his shield tightly. Jaebeom could feel Mark’s anxiousness, now fully had his attention towards Mark.

“Who?”

“General Moux. One of King Morian’s generals who… murdered the 3rd princess..” Mark muttered and Jaebeom’s eyes widened.

It's been more than a decade, after hearing about the 3rd princess.

This was something that Jaebeom's pack had spoken about - to not ever talk about Aerina's biggest secret, which was Queen Aerina and King Morian's 3rd daughter.

Princess Ariane Aurelia.

Jaebeom couldn't remember why they had to keep her a secret from the public but he knows that it was related to the Red Queen having an obsession with Princess Aurelia's blood.

Not just Princess Aurelia.

The Red Queen has a weird obsession regarding the White Queen and King Morian's daughters, the 3 of them.

The first born was Princess Aretha Anthia, the first born to the White Queen and King Morian, then the 2nd born Princess Riana Aera and lastly, the youngest and the 3rd born which is Princess Ariana Aurelia.

Maybe because the Red Queen found out that both the King and Queen of Morian and Aerina have strong bloods in them, which make the 3 princesses to have their bloods, the Red Queen decided to hunt the 3 princesses.

Unfortunately, she finally had one of the princess's blood by somehow luring someone working for King Morian and sadly it was one of King Morian's good friends, someone who worked closely with the King, and that would be General Moux.

Basically, the general betrayed King Morian by murdering his daughter - which was Princess Aurelia, and that's when Jaebeom's pack steps in, by killing him in revenge and by King Morian's order.

“He is dead, Mark. We had already killed him.. How..” Jaebeom muttered and Mark shakes his head slightly while letting out a shaky sigh.

Jaebeom’s eyes went downcast, frowning as he was thinking and trying to remember the event of the day where his pack had to kill the General.

A loud groan was heard, causing both Mark and Jaebeom to turn towards the owner of the voice.

“That’s Aerina’s issue! Why in wonderland do you have to meddle with their situation?! Just let them settle and die—

Out of nowhere, Mark’s sword suddenly let out his sword, the tip was inches away from the woman’s face - causing her to gasp in horror. She turned towards Jaebeom in desperation, wanting his friend to stop this horrific doing.

“Mark.. Calm down. I’ll settle it.” Jaebeom calmly said, his hand touching Mark’s shoulder. The leader could feel Mark’s anger due to his girlfriend.

Mark too, could feel Jaebeom’s sudden frustration, as he quickly let down his sword - before exiting out of the room quickly, not wanting to burst out on Jaebeom.

Once Mark has completely left the room, Jaebeom sighed out loud - before looking towards Larisa with a visible frown.

“What is wrong with you? Can’t you mind your words when talking to them, especially about Aerina’s Kingdom?” Jaebeom snapped, clearly knowing that he sounded frustrated - causing Larisa to immediately look down.

“..I’ll deal with you later. I have a more important task to handle.” Jaebeom muttered under his breath as he walked away from her, causing Larisa to have her eyes widened twice.

This was the first time hearing Jaebeom sounded cold, and she could feel her eyes getting watery - as she could bite the inner part of her cheeks before walking away.
