Something I just realized about canon Aarmau is that it would've made more sense in ✨the lore✨tm if mermaid tales and Royal tale were canon to the mystreet/MCD universe, therefore cementing them as a reincarnation cycle rather than whatevez is going on in canon.

lowkey the cinderella retelling with exes aaron and aphmau were rivals was *chefs kiss*. the DYNAMIC. the way aaron was some random vagrant who went from possibly being a king to robbing garroths castle for whatever reason (and is also an asshole)… aphmau being a warrior/fighter(?) princess who literally has kind of nothing going for her kingdom after their gem(?) broke. the DYNAMIC. they would never get back together but also have an on and off situationship at the same time. muah.

I think we can all agree the family situation in a royal tale is weird. Garroth so suddenly had different parents. Noone liked this. I've seen many people rewrite it so Garroth was stolen.

But the weirdest part of it is how nothing is done with this. This is an opportunity. You aren't restricted by what Garte and Zianna would do anymore because these are different characters. (Although Jess often heavily changes characters personalities across universes, *looks at mermaid tales Garroth.*) Yet they act just like them. 'Not Garte' and 'not Zianna' act more like Garte and Zianna than Garroth acts like any of his counterparts.

A way more interesting take on this would be if Garroth's unnamed mother in royal tale was actually aware and cooperative of King Zior's scheme. Her and King Zior COULD have been some evil power-hungry couple.

It both wouldn't change anything about Zianna's character, and it would be an interesting twist, taking advantage of how we assume her to be good since she's Garroth's mother. It could even be remotely memorable.

And I generally find it weird to suddenly not have two characters be related anymore. This is a little bit more off the tracks of what we got in canon royal tale, but what if we combine this with the Garroth being stolen thing? What if she was Garte's older sister, but due to Garte being a man he got a throne instead. So she set up a plan to banish him so she could get her rightful throne, and stole his newborn firstborn child along the way out of spite or something.

from my understanding, zoir and not zianna (im gonna call her gianna because shes just zianna with a garroth recolor) only exist because zane and garroth are not meant to be related in a royal tale. jesson might have thought that would be confusing to past fans if garte and zianna were still garroth's parents but not zane's, so they just recolored them and called it a day

considering the goal of seperating zane and garroth, it is absolutely mind boggling that jesson made garroths new dad look more like zane than garte or zianna combined, gave him a Z name, and gave him the exact same powerset as zane to the point that zane can literally sense zoirs magic. but zoir also explicitly stated zane isn't family in episode one so....

i always thought thar zane was actually their secret kid, but was erased from the family tree the second zoir figured out he was magic because zoir himself was keeping his magic a secret, bur that's just a theory lol
