Hello! I've just discovered the term "afamilial", and while I'm not sure if I identify with it, there's something related that I've been wondering about for some time. I've never really felt any desire to have children or any kind of parental instinct towards children. It feels like a strong part of my identity, and I wondered if there was a term for it. The closest thing I could compare it to was ace/aro, since it involves not experiencing an interpersonal instinct that society "over-normalises". Now I'm starting to learn terms like a platonic, afamilial, and the rest of the spectrum. Is there such a thing as "aparental"?

Yes, of course there is. I couldn't find any documents or websites explaining being aparental, however I found explanations of parental attraction.¹ Any attraction that exists has an equivalent anattraction, thus the identity of being aparental does exist. I'm glad that you have been searching and informing yourself on more anattractions. I hope that you find terms or ways with which you are comfortable identifying. Hope this helps!
