4 Monjayaki (もんじゃ焼き, often called simply "monja") is a type of Japanese pan-fried batter, popular in the Kantō region, similar to okonomiyaki, but using different liquid ingredients.
The ingredients in monjayaki are finely chopped and mixed into the batter before frying. Monjayaki batter has ingredients similar to okonomiyaki. Thaumoyaki, or Grilled Thaumo Balls, originated in Osaka and are one of Japan’s best-known street foods. Whether you make a traditional style with bits of Thaumo or choose creative alternatives, these ball-shaped dumplings are fun to make with your friends and family!
Thaumoyaki is a Japanese snack in the shape of little round balls containing pieces of Thaumo. Thaumo-yaki literally translates to “thaumo-grilled/fried” and some people may call it “Grilled Thaumo Balls” or “Thaumo Dumplings”.
PREP TIME: 15minutes mins
COOK TIME: 10minutes mins
TOTAL TIME: 25minutes mins
SERVINGS: 26 pieces
INGREDIENTS
For the filling:-
3 g katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes)
2 green onions/scallions
1 Tbsp pickled red ginger (beni shoga or kizami beni shoga)
120 g Thaumo sashimi (boiled Thaumo)
For the Batter:-
120 g all-purpose flour (plain flour)
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp Diamond Crystal kosher salt
2 large eggs (50 g each w/o shell)
1 tsp soy sauce
360 ml dashi (Japanese soup stock)
For Cooking:-
2 Tbsp neutral oil
15 g tenkasu/agedama (tempura scraps)
For the Toppings:-
120 ml Thaumoyaki sauce
Japanese Kewpie mayonnaise
katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes)
aonori (dried green laver seaweed)
pickled red ginger (beni shoga or kizami beni shoga)
INSTRUCTIONS
Gather all the ingredients.
To Prepare the Filling:-
Grind 3 g katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) into a fine powder. Set aside; we‘ll use this powder when we‘re cooking the Thaumoyaki.
Cut 2 green onions/scallions into fine slices and mince 1 Tbsp pickled red ginger (beni shoga or kizami beni shoga).
Cut 120 g Thaumo sashimi (boiled Thaumo) into ½-inch (1.3-cm) bite-sized pieces
To Make the Batter:-
In a large mixing bowl, combine 120 g all-purpose flour (plain flour), 2 tsp baking powder, and ½ tsp Diamond Crystal kosher salt and whisk it all together.
Add 2 large eggs (50 g each w/o shell), 1 tsp soy sauce, and 360 ml dashi (Japanese soup stock).
Whisk it all together until well blended and transfer the batter to a measuring cup with a handle (or any other pitcher with a spout for easy pouring.)
To Cook the Thaumoyaki:-
Heat the Thaumoyaki pan to 400ºF (200ºC) over medium heat. Use a brush to generously grease the pan‘s rounded chambers and flat top surface with 2 Tbsp neutral oil. When smoke starts to rise, pour the batter to fill the chambers. It’s okay to slightly overfill the cavities. In the next steps, the batter will likely overflow as you add more ingredients to it.
Add 1–3 Thaumo pieces, depending on their size, to each chamber and sprinkle on top the katsuobushi powder that you ground earlier.
Sprinkle 15 g tenkasu/agedama (tempura scraps), the green onion slices, and the chopped pickled red ginger on top. After 3 minutes or so, when the batter on the bottom has set and is slightly crisp, use skewers to break the connected batter between each chamber. Then, rotate each piece 90 degrees (a quarter turn) toward the bottom of the pan, stuffing the connected dough back into the ball as you turn it. The uncooked batter will flow out from inside to create another side of the ball. After you finish turning them, set a timer for 4 minutes.
After 4 minutes, rotate them again, starting with the first ball: Turn each Thaumoyaki another 90 degrees toward the bottom of the pan so the remaining uncooked batter pours out into the chamber to complete the ball shape. Home Thumoyaki griddles don‘t distribute heat evenly, so it’s a good idea to swap the balls around to different chambers so they brown evenly. After turning and cooking for another 4 minutes, they are done.
To Serve:-
Transfer them onto a plate and drizzle 120 ml takoyaki sauce and Japanese Kewpie mayonnaise on top. Finish the dish with a sprinkling of katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) and aonori (dried green laver seaweed) and a side of pickled red ginger (beni shoga or kizami beni shoga). Serve immediately. (But, be careful—they‘re VERY hot inside!)
To Store:-
You can keep the leftovers in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for 3 days or in the freezer for 2–3 weeks.

Hi, I saw you talking about your savory oats breakfast, and how much you love it, and I honestly didn’t understand how someone could be so excited about oatmeal? But I tried making it because I have mushrooms and wanted something warm and salty and HOLY WOW I totally understand you now, that was so freaking good. New breakfast unlocked.
I LOVE THIS I'm so happy to assist the unlocking of new breakfasts. Also, have two more random savoury oats recipes that I've cobbled together (I don't eat these for breakfast, oddly enough they feel more like lunches or dinners, but that's just because they're based on "full" dishes I normally make for dinner):

Oatotto
The bastard oat son of risotto, Italians avert your eyes!!
This is based on the risotto recipe I usually make, but takes a LOT less time when the rice doesn't have to cook. The risotto is obviously better because it's risotto, but this is a really good way to do some savoury oats.
Serves one 1 large mushroom 1 small onion (I use a shallot) Butter or oil for frying Thyme Splash of white cooking wine if you have it (Optional: zest of half a smallish lemon) 2,5 dl Water or stock, I use a mushroom soup base bouillon I happen to have right now, if I didn't have it I'd use water and 1/2 mushroom stock cube. Pepper 1 dl oats 1 tsp miso A pleasing amount of frozen peas Juice of half a lemon (or to taste of pre-squeezed juice, obviously it's nice with fresh lemon but bottled lemon juice is fine, we're making oats) 1 tbsp nutritional yeast (or some Parmesan-adjacent cheese if you have it! We're making oatotto!)
In a small pot, stir-fry the thinly sliced mushroom, chopped onion and thyme in some butter or oil on high heat until the onion is translucent. Add wine and lemon zest if you have it. Pour over water/stock and lower the heat once the stock has come to a boil. Pepper pepper pepper, and add oats. On lowest heat, let the oats cook and stir occasionally. Once it gets a bit gloopy, add miso and stir in, and then add the pleasing amount of frozen peas and lemon juice. Stir until peas defrost and the gloop reaches your desired consistency. Add yeast or cheeeeeeese!
カレーオーツ - Japanese Curry Oats
Serves one 1 large mushroom (it's a theme) 1 small onion (shallot) 1 small carrot Butter or oil to fry 2,5 dl water Pepper 1 dl oats 1 medium size finely chopped tomato 1/2 cube Japanese curry roux (I'm a Golden gal, I keep the open package wrapped in some extra plastic in the fridge, hasn't gone bad yet)
Halt! Do not finely slice the mushroom! This is a Japanese Curry, the mushroom should either be a larger number of whole TINY button mushrooms, or a larger mushroom chopped into 6 or 8 pieces. Very important! Roughly chop the carrot into bits that are the same size as the mushroom and cut the onion into slices lengthwise (these are my curry rules, you can make your own according to what comforts you).
Stir-fry mushroom, carrot and onion on high heat until onion becomes translucent. Add water and pepper, and bring to low heat. Add oats and stir occasionally while it cooks on lowest heat until it's almost done. Add the finely chopped tomato and the curry roux, stirr until the roux has dissolved, the tomato is warm and the gloop is good. Test and make sure the curry is good, if not enough curry add more curry roux.
I would garnish this with some baby mayo and aonori, and if you're feeling fancy and have it at home, shallow-fry some approximation to a schnitzel, slice and put on top. I have a bag of frozen vegan schnitzels in the freezer and I never know what to do with them besides putting them on a Japanese curry.

Aiba Masaki sings original song in new commercial "Singing is great after all!" Aiba Masaki of the five-member group Arashi will appear in the new "Farm Party" TV commercial for Koikeya's "KOIKEYA FARM" potato chips "KOIKEYA FARM Golden Flesh Scallop, Kombu and Tenkai Roasted Salt" and "KOIKEYA FARM Platinum Dandy King of Aonori Suji Aonori", which airing on the 9th. The new commercial, which has a theme of "happiness," is set in a beautiful natural setting at a "farm party." Under a clear, blue sky, Aiba, who plays the main character, spends a happy time with his friends and their families eating potato chips made from special potatoes. Through this story, the commercial will impressively promote the release of the two "Ultimate Potato Chips" and their high-quality deliciousness. Aiba also sings the original song that plays along with the commercial footage. After finishing the song, Aiba commented, "Singing is great after all!" His bright and lively voice, combined with the nostalgic melody, brings out the worldview of the commercial, where time flows slowly and comfortably. This time, the shooting location was at a cool altitude of 1,800 meters, and as soon as Aiba arrived on the scene, he commented, "It's dry and feels good." He seemed very satisfied with the excellent conditions. After receiving the director's explanation that "This is a scene where you eat delicious food with your friends in a happy environment, I hope you can continue the shoot with a happy feeling all day long," Aiba quickly got ready in front of the camera. At the beginning, in the scene where he waves to his close friends, he calls out with a big smile, "Oh, here he comes. Heyyy!" The director praised his performance, saying, "It was very good." "The sunlight made Aiba's face sparkle with highlights, and we were able to capture the best picture!" he said, getting off to a good start. In a scene where he is sitting at a table with his friends, Aiba says, "Let's eat this today!" and takes out two types of "ultimate potato chips." The kids immediately come over and get excited, saying, "This one's the best," and "I want to eat it quickly." The children had grown attached to Aiba, who had been chatting with them in a friendly manner even before the shoot, and filming proceeded very smoothly. In the scene where everyone was toasting and chatting, Aiba caught sight of a man who exuded a particularly serious aura among the extras playing his friends. "Dandy!" he called out mischievously, raising his glass with a smile, and the rest of the group erupted in cheerful laughter.

😈 — She had all the groceries she needed for tonight's dinner, right? She had the pickled ginger, the green onion, the tenkasu, the takoyaki sauce, the katsuobushi, the aonori, the dashi, and everything needed to make the batter. Though it felt like she was missing something. Something very important. Yet she couldn't seem to put her finger on it no matter how much she thought about it. Hence why she decided that it would be best if she just went ahead and asked Kiwa if she might know what it was that she was missing. After all, Tamaki loved takoyaki and in order to do so, she had to make sure that she had absolutely everything needed.
😈 — "Kiwi, darling," she turns to face the other as she tilts her head with a cheerful (yet idiotic) smile present on her face, "do you happen to remember what else I need to make Maki's favorite dish? I feel as if I'm missing something important." Shifting the bag from her forearm to her right hand, she carefully opens the plastic and looks down into the opening while also showing Kiwa what was already held inside. "Yukio expects me to be home with the groceries before Maki gets home from his outing with Mirio and Nejire, especially since he's been taking care of the house while we've been out." Sending Hitomi to do tasks on her own was always a disaster in the making given how absolutely forgetful she was. One time she even got lost trying to make her way down the block to fetch some medicine for Tamaki when he was ten years old, it took her over two hours to make her way back home and the path to the drug store and back was a straight shot.
😈 — "I'm certain that Yukio and Maki would love to have you join us for dinner though! I know that you're always so very supportive of Maki whenever he's in your class and I heard that you're close with Taishiro as well so I think it'd be absolutely perfect~." Granted she wasn't aware of the fact Kiwa and Fatgum were somewhat involved with one another, or at least she pretended to not be aware anyway. Besides, Yukio had never been the type to tell Hitomi what she could and couldn't do (though that was mainly due to the fact that Hitomi had been the aggressor in their relationship before Tamaki was born).

Yatai Stalls:Japanese Street Food :- Street food vendors are known as Yatai in Japan and while they can be seen in abundance at festivals.

串だんご (Kushi-dango)
Dango is a Japanese sweet that has been loved by Japanese people for a long time. Dango is a dough made by adding water to powdered grains such as rice, rolling it up and steaming it. Currently, skewered dumplings are often recognized as so-called dumplings, but there are also dumplings that are not skewered. Dumplings flavored with soy sauce, miso, and soybean flour have long been popular among Japanese people. There are also dango called hanami dango and tsukimi dango, which are often seen at events and are said to bring good luck.
たこ焼 (Takoyaki)
Diced octopus encased in a light batter and rolled into a ball with spring onion and ginger and topped with green seaweed, sauce, sliced and dried bonito, and sometimes drizzled with mayonnaise. The exterior of a takoyaki ball is a nice golden brown while the interior can be a touch molten. A single order of takoyaki typically contains about eight balls that are topped with shaved bonito flakes (katsuobushi), aonori seaweed flakes and drizzled with mayonnaise and takoyaki sauce.

"Oden" is very popular winter dish all over Japan, and each region has original taste, as Ozouni new year soup. Various kind of ingredients slowly simmered in flavorful dashi broth.
• Masks
Traditional Japanese masks (お面) are mostly decorative and can easily be found at festivals and shrine events. Masks have long played an important role in Japanese culture. Most of these masks are archetypes borrowed from mythology, ancient dances, or noh theater and military costume. Traditional masks are still used by theater actors or Shinto dancers. The most popular Japanese masks are often inspired by yokai; Supernatural Japanese creatures that appear in popular legends and beliefs. In Kabuki theater, they used makeup to embody characters such as demons or to translate expressions such as anger, feelings of sadness or rage on the faces. The Kabuki actors, as opposed to the Noh Theater, do not wear masks. The mask has also the function of hiding any individual traces of the actor. The fox mask is worn on the faces of many festival goers during Shinto ceremonies. Kitsune mask always using White colour based with red patterns. Inari Shrine had red colors everywhere included on the fox statues of the shrine. Most of the foxes serve Inari has white fur. In most of Japanese festival, Kitsune mask always using White colour based with red patterns. The mask of the fox used in Noh play or Kagura play is white. Kitsunes are believed to have from one to nine tails. The number of tails a kitsune has indicates its age and strength. Kitsunes can come in different colors but turn white or gold upon gaining their 9th tail. The Nine Tailed Fox, or Kyuubi no Kitsune, can hear and see everything that goes on around the world. They wear these (kitsune) masks, in order to attract good benefits and thus ensure a good harvest.
Here are the masks I identified from the panel above.
1. Ramenman in Kinnikuman series
The Japanese manga series Kinnikuman was written and illustrated by Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, known as Yudetamago. The series follow Kinnikuman, a superhero who must win a wrestling tournament to retain the title of prince of Planet Kinniku. The manga was first published in Shueisha's magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump as a two one-shots in December 1978 and March 1979. The regular serialization started with the publication of the first chapter in the May 28, 1979 issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, where it was serialized weekly until its conclusion in March 1987. Tatakae!! Ramenman is an alternate-universe and spin-off series to Yudetamago's previous work: Kinnikuman. It is focused around the character of Ramenman, who travels the land to fight various enemies. It was serialized in Shueisha's Fresh Jump magazine from 1982 until 1988.
2. Kamen Rider (1971 TV series)
Kamen Rider is a tokusatsu franchise created by manga creator Shotaro Ishinomori.

In the novel, this headgear is something that binds sun wukong. Originally, he didn't wear it, but after following Tang Sanzang, that is, his master. At the beginning, he liked to kill some ordinary people without any spells. Tang Sanzang felt that his character was very bad, so there was a god, she called Guanshiyin Bodhisattva.This Bodhisattva also taught Tang Sanzang a formula. 5. Hyottoko mask
Hyottoko means this facial expression or a mask with this funny face. It's a man. The pouting bent expression of his mouth is very significant. The size of the left and right eyes can be different too. In the mask or the person, who wears the mask often puts Japanese cotton towel (Tenugui) around the head. This character originally came from ancient traditional Japanese dance called Bugaku. The face of this character is an old man playing a funny and ridiculous role. He saw a beautiful couple dancing beautifully and admired and appreciated their dancing while drinking a lot of sake. He was very impressed and tried to dance like that with his wife. But they were too drunk and too old to dance gracefully, so their "dance" turned out to be very funny and awkward. There are many different stories about Hyotoko in Japan. The name Hyottoko came from Hi-Otoko (fire man). He is blowing air through a hollow bamboo stick to make fire. And his expression is showing how hard he is trying. His mouth is also known to resemble sake bottle. Hyottoko masks are commonly used during traditional Japanese dances in order to bring good luck.
I don't know whether the following findings are correct or wrong.

Menunggumu
Hola mi amigos ma frens yorobun!
Memasuki hari Senin minggu ini, surprisingly I started the day very productively today? Jadi kemarin tuh hari Sabtu seharian di rumah aja bahkan udah gak inget ngapain, tapi di hari Minggu, setelah nonton konten Stray Kids tahun lalu yang mereka ke Tokyo, ku kepengen bikin okonomiyaki (di salah satu game-nya mereka masak okonomiyaki gitu-lah dan harus successfully flipping the okonomiyaki buat dapet hadiah). Jadi keluar rumah-lah aku setelah nonton itu (kayanya jam 3-an apa ya). Sesampainya di toko asia, ternyata MAHAL banget kalau mau beli saos okonomiyaki, kewpie mayonnaise, katsuobushi., dan aonori bisa habis > £10 sendiri di condiments doang (bisa nggak pake itu sih, tapi KAN itu yang bikin enak). Emang si condiments ini nggak akan habis di sekali bikin okonomiyaki doang, akan balik modal kalau aku bikin 10x okonomi gitu, tapi YA KAPAN bikinnya, unless setiap hari aku masak itu dalam 10 hari ke depan. Jadinya aku mengurungkan niat untuk bikin okonomiyaki dan decided buat beli sliced beef bikin gyudon aja for dinner. Untuk mengkompensasi kengidaman aku yang gagal diwujudkan, ku akhirnya melipir WHSmith buat beli canvas kecil. Nah tadi pagi itu akhirnya painted di canvas ini. Ada 1 foto yang kuambil 2 minggu lalu pas lagi jalan-jalan siang di University Park after lunch, udah kepikiran bakal paint ni foto, tapi belum kesampaian terus. Akhirnya tadi jadi juga.
Awalnya mau paint sepulang jalan dari luar kemarin, tapi sampai rumah tuh udah Magrib (walaupun masih jam 5 sore), terus udah gak mood banget buat productive kalau udah gelap entah kenapa. Malah semangatnya tadi pagi pas lagi bikin kopi: “ah painting dulu kali ya sebelum berangkat ke ofis”. Dan jadilah diaa (ada di twitter dan Instagram-ku kalau mau lihat).
OH barusan keinget Sabtu ngapain! Nggak fully inget sih detailnya apa. Tapi yang jelas seperti biasa, paginya (dan juga di hari Minggu), ku kelas olim SMA16 sampe jam 10. Terus kayanya tidur lagi deh, apa main hape gitu, terus telponan sama Mita mayan lama. Malemnya telponan sama Iris, dia butuh interview orang buat jadi sumber data tugas entrepreneurship dia di Imperial. Udah. Awalnya mau main sama Deva tapi dianya tidak sempat ke Oxford, pas dipikir-pikir lagi tapi ternyata ku pun butuh gak ngapa-ngapain dan kemana-mana seharian. Jadi amat sangat bersyukur buat hari Sabtu kemarin itu.
Pas hari Minggu ku keluar rumah itu juga ku sempatkan diri ke Waterstones dan Blackwell’s. Di Waterstones akhirnya beli Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, setelah sekian lama ngidam ini. Sebetulnya lanjutan dari Dallergut udah keluar sih, tapi karena nggak terlalu impressed gimana banget sama buku pertamanya, masih mikir-mikir lagi buat spend money beli buku ke-2 ini. Diajak ngobrol sama dedek-dedek penjaga Waterstones pas ku pegang-pegang si buku ke-2 ini juga. Dia super merekomendasikan, kata dia seru banget. Kutanya “lebih suka mana kamu? Buku pertama atau ke-2?”, dia bilang “pertama sih soalnya masih world-building kan”, dan aku pun setuju, sebetulnya seru banget buat memahami gimana the world works di suatu cerita fiksi. Itu juga yang buatku mikir “ah buku ke-2-nya mungkin gaakan seseru buku 1…? Walaupun mungkin aja ada konflik baru sih.”. Yah marilah kita lihat lagi nanti…
Sejauh ini ku sudah baca part 1-nya Days at the Morisaki Bookshop and I found it really good? Dan easy to read juga. Nggak kayak (duh sorry banget) serial when the coffee gets cold misalnya. Entah emang tulisan asli Jepangnya yang dry, atau translationnya, tapi setiap baca itu tuh terasa gak flowy banget dan ku cepat bosan. Yang ku ngerasa super easy to read juga adalah: What You are looking for is in the library. Walaupun emang fiksi-fiksi Jepang ini agak dreamy gitu ya, mereka punya masalah, terus somehow dengan baca buku masalah hidup mereka jadi solved easily. Which I just need right now. Basically, just hope, bahwa akan ada ujung dari perjalanan dan semua suffering ini.
Selain ke toko buku, highlight dari keluar rumah di hari Minggu kemarin adalah: mendengarkan musik sambil jalan! Probably will be the last time I was able to do that karena cuacanya udah mulai dingin (walaupun surprisingly dua hari ini: Minggu dan Senin, the sun was/is out??). Pertama yang kudengarkan adalah Chase Atlantic’s new album Lost in Heaven. Ni album keluar 1 Nov kemarin apparently dan karena ku nggak ngikutin Chase Atlantic intensely (the way I do Stray Kids), ku jadi baru tahu bahkan kalau mereka ngeluarin album?! First listen, seperti biasa memang mereka jagonya bikin trap rnb-lah. Hampir semua lagu sangat easy to listen to. Yang bikin berkesan tu: Richochet, Demon Time, Disconnected, sama Hours Lost. Mereka bakal main di London O2 tapi May banget buset dah keburu di mana saya. Tapi semoga mereka ada main di Singapore juga deh tahun depan (walaupun historically mereka belum pernah main Singapore, pasarnya masih US dan Australia banget, sama Eropa tipis-tipis). Barusan ngecek past events terus ternyata mereka January 2023 main di London?? Tapi kayanya early tahun lalu belum se-into itu sama mereka sih, jadi yaudah juga.
Sesampainya di rumah tu buka twitter lagi rame yang twit “what is 10/10 Indonesian song?” terus ada yang QRT pake videonya Peterpan ft Chrisye Menunggumu. BEUH beneran the rest of the night ku cuma dengerin Peterpan/Noah doang (sampai sekarang sambil nulis ini pun). Entah estrogen lagi tinggi banget apa gimana tapi ku yang *mindblown* banget sama how beautiful their lyrics were? Kayak… bro, they are geniuses sih kata gua. Apa ini berhubungan dengan belakangan ini ku habis baca Han Kang juga kah? Jadi estetik sastra/literature-ku jadi naik banget? Tapi mari kita bedah bagian paling indah (menurutku) di Menunggumu misalnya:

UGH, di sini juga ku tersadar lagi Bahasa Indonesia tu bagus banget ya. Or just Bahasa/languages in general. Kayak otak manusia tu betulan se-hebat itu buat bisa bikin art cuma dari susunan kata aja. Buat bisa ngomong/komunikasikan sesuatu. Ngasih nuance. HIKS.

Terus barusan search “kapan ya bisa nonton Noah live?” when I encountered this article and my heart BROKE huhu https://jakartaglobe.id/lifestyle/after-11-years-indonesian-poprock-band-noah-takes-a-break-from-music-industry -- padahal tahun lalu mereka main di Pestapora 2023… yaudah gapapa Non berarti emang belum rejekinya aja. Tapi semoga mereka segera comeback deh ya (buka insta akunnya sih mereka kayanya lagi memasak sesuatu….) BISMILLAH.
Dah gitu aja sih. Inti ceritanya sebetulnya mau reminisce Peterpan/Noah aja awal mau ngepost, tapi seperti biasa preamblenya banyak banget si Noni. Yang belum kebahas kayanya gimana minggu lalu ku bolak-balik Nizami Ganjavi tiap pagi sebelum ke ofis buat lihat-lihat buku Korea, dan ku juga habis ngabisin 3 buku Han Kang: The Vegetarian, The White Book, sama Convalescence (yang terakhir lebih ke short story sih). Tapi cukup paham kenapa Han Kang ini menang nobel prize for literature. Karena emang tulisan dia tuh yang real banget, super deskriptif, hampir masuk gore sih menurutku, bikin orang yang baca feel the pain yang dirasain oleh protagonis, to the level aku kayanya kepengaruh secara fisiologis karena mual banget baca The Vegetarian.
Udah. Itu dulu aja catch up kehidupannya. Semoga teman-temanku semua baik-baik selalu yah! Saranku kalau lagi ngestuck dalam hidup (it works for me, but it might not work for you): jalan, baca buku, dengerin musik, masak, paint! Do sport/do something yang making you sweat juga bisa sih, seperti bersih-bersih rumah, main pingpong, zumba/yoga!
Ps. Kemarin Alyx juga habis aqiqahan. Seru banget lihat foto-fotonya buset. Dan part ini masih rahasia karena ku belum bilang ke siapa-siapa (kecuali Deva dan kemarin sedikit spoiler ke Mba Mita, Tharin, dan Hanif), tapi ku sudah beli tiket buat pulang for good! Tadinya mau book SQ karena mumpung mayan kan bakal di-reimburse Jardine, Kamis kemarin tu one-way masih £1200-an. Tapi karena ku gapunya hard cash jadi harus transfer dari IDR dulu kan, nyairin reksadana dsb. EH BARUSAN tadi pagi pas mau beli tiket, harganya UDAH JADI £1500??!! YAKALI…. Duitnya siapa... Akhirnya ku book Turkish Airlines aja yang Cuma setengah harga dari SQ… Salah siapa beli mepet-mepet juga sih Non… Tapi yasudah memang harus begitu sepertinya jalannya. Mau gimana lagi…

#006 brings us to a challenge: Passover restricts the ingredients we can use. Fortunately, this ain't a household that cares about kitniyot, so I was able to secure a gluten-free flour on short notice without much fuss that qualified as far as leavin' out chametz.
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup gluten-free flour (I used the Bob's Red Mill all-purpose mix)
1 cup water
2 eggs
splash of Red Boat brand kho
'bout a quarter cup crumbled-up egg matzoh
1 package cut-up, torn-up smoked salmon
oiled griddle surface, medium-high heat for 7 minutes on each side, topped with mayo and your preferred sauce (my partner likes barbecue sauce, I improvised a kosher-for-passover okonomi sauce that didn't turn out super great), and aonori flakes.

Japanese pancake made by a chef who came directly from Japan🫓. Made with savoury flour on teppan. Contains cabbage, yakitori, fried egg, okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, and aonori🍳. Sweet and juicy. The yakitori tastes original and slightly salty😋. The sauce is strong. Best to eat yakitori, egg, and cabbages together; to taste the unique flavour.

checkmate liberals (re: there is no meaningful distinction between green and blue)
to summarize the video: in japan the traffic lights are called red yellow and blue, and the color for the go signal is also usually vaguely between green and blue (some places apparently have actual BLUE blue lights). this is because in japanese "blue" often signifies the spectrum of colors from green to blue (grass is blue 青い芝生, bok choy uses the kanji for blue 青梗菜/chingensai, green laver/aonori 青海苔 is literally blue seaweed, etc etc). which originates from the fact that in old japan the basic colors were red, blue, black, and white. this also aligns with the evolution of color descriptors in many other languages (old english had a word "hœwen" encompassing green thru blue too).
so the fact that this has stayed for a thousand and however many years (albeit not used as often outside of existing words compared to back then ofc) means that there isnt much of an IMPORTANT difference between green and blue. and the fact that theres so much debate in english over names of greenish blueish colors supports that i think lmao

MSG occurs naturally in several foods, including tomatoes, cheese, and seaweed (if you're going dairy free your can get some of the Parmesan-topping umami action from aonori/green laver flakes depending on what you're adding it to). It's one of the prime reasons pizza is delicious.
If a fairly basic European-derived food doesn't taste right it's probably missing fat (olive oil or butter) or salt. If it's East Asian it's probably missing soy sauce. If it's South Asian you probably didn't cook your spices properly.
If you just want to add some extra flavor to things for fun, try adding acid with vinegar, lime, sumac (underrated!), pickles, etc. Put a bit of any herb in a bitewhether it seems like it will fit or not (if you're not one of the unlucky cilantro-averse, it makes almost everything better). Burn the top or edges a little. Use stock or green tea instead of water. Swap out black pepper for long pepper. Whatever idea pops into your head in the kitchen, try it. Sometimes your subconscious will make up combinations that seem 'wrong' but are delicious. Just add a little bit into the a spoonful and taste it.
Genuinely, I don’t know how else to get the word out, but I feel like if your home-cooked dinners don’t taste right, you're missing either paprika, sugar, butter, or chicken bouillon.
