might sound weird to say as a person with a couple ocs who have Big Horrible Event(s) in their backstories or as a person who has like 3 ocs total bc he sucks at writing and as a person who hopes their ocs arent too Boring with [the thing im about to mention] but the thing about writing [characters] and [people] is that like.
any little thing a person experiences can take up their whole existence... its actually something "fun" to experience as i meet new ppl and do more things. My friend had something happen that she'll be talking about forever. I had several things happen last year that ill never stop talking about, some of which other ppl think werent that bad actually. In the same way I'll forever remember about the way my sister accidentally insulted me almost 10 years ago, it's really interesting and Fun to find and assign smaller things like that to characters...its really Real. some people's dealbreakers are other people's solvable problems etc etc

#today's gone Badly and i'm upset but instead of venting abt it i'm gonna channel that energy into doing a bit of tag rambling abt Boothill#well. less abt Him and more abt uh. self-analyzing my anxiety surrounding contributing to fandoms. he's just today's catalyst#like. i know it's mostly a me thing. i'm hypersensitive to criticism and very conflict avoidant + socially anxious + perfectionistic etc.#so I'm the one that keeps myself from posting more stuff out of fear of being criticized or called-out for what i've made#bc inevitably Someone's gonna see it and think its OOC or a problematic take or they'll misread my intent. etc etc what have you#but like. that's inevitable. there's no way to communicate every single thing with all of the nuance required to avoid misunderstandings#and other times it's not a misunderstanding it's just a difference of opinions and that's Fine!! there's no accounting for personal taste#there's no accounting for several things actually. taste‚ bias‚ lore-knowledge‚ differing levels of chronic-online-ness‚ etc#so this isn't me complaining abt the state of fandom culture (although i do think. sometimes. ppl take shit a bit too seriously)#but anyways all of this is mostly just anxiety-fueled. it's not like i very often actually even receive negative feedback or anything#if anything ppl tend to tell me that i'm overthinking it and killing my own fun and worried that my stuff is more OOC than it is#which like. yeah. I just wanted to apologize to my classic whotuals for all the dead boy detectives spamming, but it's also important to me that you guys know two things:
a) I've become aware that a lot of what appeals to me about dead boy detectives is, on a kind of conceptual/thematic level, the same stuff that I love about my favorite eras of dr who, and 6b in particular
And I tell you this not as an advertising tactic but as a genuine PSA for anyone following me because:
b) Being me & having realized this, I know I'm definitely gonna wind up posting some unnecessarily long-winded analysis/comparison, pop it in the main tags for the sake of organization on my own blog, and subsequently confuse a hell of a lot of people there who either have no idea what I'm talking about or simply don't view either piece of media in the same light as I do to begin with
So I just wanted to reassure everyone that at least you're not suffering alone, as I will soon be inflicting the reverse bait-and-switch upon others!

ughh just got some Very Bad news so quick update now because I'm going to be Super Busy very soon: I've been gone super long because 1 family member I was living with passed away, 2 after dealing with that I had to move states and moved in with another family member and their partner, 3 I've had to move around a lot my whole life and I don't handle it well at all so it took me a while to start getting comfortable, 4 my physical and mental health have been steadily getting worse
now! new news!!! I now have to move out right when I was starting to get used to things!!!! aaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

3.40 i woke up bc i was cold and needed to pee and now i can't fall back asleep i keep thinking of the people i accidentally ghosted. is it ghosted if there was no intent to ghost? i feel so bad and it's not even like i don't think about them i often do think "i should really reply to them... once this is over ill properly sit down and write them... " and then i don't bc something else happens and im dealing with that and the longer i leave it unanswered the more difficult it becomes because i feel so guilty and therefore want to do things properly not half assed but bc i feel so guilty a part of me also tends to avoid it even more. if i do this to you just know i'm really sorry and ill get back to you i swear

LUCY!! if you want my honest answer...
ace attorney is styled like a visual novel but about deductive reasoning rather than. dating. ig. the unfortunate thing is that sometimes the deductive reasoning is sorta at the mercy of the plot and the nonsense logic of the world, which can lead to some frustrating situations where you know the answer but don't know how to say it, and I think thats my biggest criticism of the game. when you DO get it right, though, the feeling is VERY satisfying. the story can be stupid and silly just as much as it is hard hitting, and the main cast of characters are WONDERFUL.
I think the main deciding factor is: do you want a video game that is entirely reading. bc that is what it is. it is reading and logic puzzles. if that seems like a style of game that would suit you I say GO FOR IT ABSOLUTELY. I love the series so ofc im inclined to say yes, get it, but if that play style is not for you then obvs save your money.
if you do buy it, makes sure to buy the original phoenix wright trilogy and NOT the investigations collection, which is the one that released yesterday and that im currently playing. start with the original obviously, and b sure to block my tag for it. or I can make a spoiler tag just for you if you want me to :P
oh it also has my absolute favorite doomed/tragic sibling pair of all time so there's that for it.

#okay so this may look like a vent post but its not everything is fune#fine#well actually ive been working 65 hour work weeks the past few weeks and have another one coming up so not realy but im well adjusted#but anyways#my actors on my current show are hilarious#the show is lehman trilogy which is a 3 hour long show about capitalism that makes no points and is very pretentious#anyways this would have been a terrible experience if my actors werent so fucking great to be around#and also i had to actually take over the assistant stage manager position of this show from someone#and she was kind of a brat when she was teaching me stuff and didnt tell me everything so#anyways#this is kind of vulgar but one of my actors is sick and the others were like asking him what he can and cant do#and hes like i cant have sex and idk how they got to this but he was like but i do still have myself from time to time#as in masterb*tion#that started this whole thing where they keep on saying having myself / have yourself#and its the fucking funnest goddamn thing to me honestly#i aint never heard someone reffer to masterb*tion as having yourself#during our intermissions they kept on saying lines from the show but chaging things to having youself#like one line is now if you'll excuse me i must take my leave#now if you'll excuse me I'll go have myself#and i have this problem where when im alone i say a lot of things under my breath and i keep on saying varations of phrase with have youself#it's an earworm honestly i cant stop thinking about it#so fucking funny to me

#there's a difference between interest / education / or being blessed to know someone who wants to share their holidays with you#and taking it upon yourself to put together a quote unquote passover at your church where sure you'll be respectful but also the#fact that you're doing it at all is disrespectful?? like you can try to keep christianity out of the day but you're still christians#and its still a church#and its still not yours#so#..#i love my mom#and her interest in judaism and jewish historybeliefsculturemusicetc. has been around for most of my life. like truly i never thought twice#about any of it until recent years so its not /new/. but that doesnt make some of the things she does okay#i have talked with her about this#once#it wasnt in-depth for reasons but i mentioned that i follow this jewish friend on the tumblr (as like 'hey i have a reliable source!') and#that judaism is a closed practice so christians really shouldnt be like.. doing their holidays or taking things that belong to them#she listened and was.. idk.. understanding?? but it didnt change anything so#yeah#anyway#seeing christians brought up in that post made me think about this#and ive never talked about it#dunno why#but i felt compelled to ramble about it now so here we are#maison speaks
