what would dating classmate sukuna be like??

well, at the beginning, its mostly sukuna dragging you around to places after school... he knows all the obscure food places that nobody is aware of- you know those dingy looking places that serve top tier food? yea.

you wonder if this is his idea of what "dates" are, just sitting and eating together lmao, but your heart still flutters even if a lot of the time there is pretty little conversation other than the usual bickering the two of you do because he does little things like giving you the last dumpling or whatever else it is that he's ordered as a side or pouring you a glass of water before he pours himself one

its like this until you begin taking more initiative and suggest the two of you do other things as a couple, like watching movies and going to cute aesthetic cafes, whatever floats your boat! (he'll most likely have a bored look on his face, but look, he'll find some way of having fun, because he always has you to tease, after all)

he probably enjoys more active date stuff like going to the arcade! throwing basketballs into the hoops, shooting games, table hockey, you name it (good luck winning against him)

will probably make everything into a competition and challenge you... and the loser gets a flick to the forehead, or something like that

(you shut your eyes and brace yourself at the end of each game for the impact, but it doesnt come for a while... when you crack open one eye a little, you see that hes smirking in that endearing way at you, because you look so cute with your eyes closed like that, waiting for him)

definitely goes easy on you, and the gentle flick gets you all flustered and shy

(maybe he gets bored of flicking towards the end and gives you a kiss instead)

on your way out of the arcade, if you make puppy eyes at him while gesturing at the claw machine filled with cute plushies, maybe he'll cave in and get one for you

what gets shoved into your arms afterwards is a big ass kirby plush

he doesnt get whats so good about such a dull looking creature, but whatever makes you happy, i guess

at school, nothing much changes except that hes a bit more affectionate with his bullying-- arm around your shoulder, sneaky kisses in the hallways, cuddling behind the school building on some days, but its not like the two of you are joined hip to hip constantly, since he has his friends and you have yours

dont bother taking him on study dates - or, if you wanna see him doze off, you should because thats all he'd do, since sukuna does the bare minimum when it comes to studying and still gets good grades

dont ask him to tutor you, he'd be a really mean teacher

but, well, if theres something that you're really struggling with, i guess he wont be opposed to helping out a little, in exchange for something like a free meal later

(but he ends up paying anyway.. when you tell him about the agreement earlier, he'll go "did i say that? i forgot. whatever, just leave it be." its just his tsundere way of saying "dont worry about it" bc he actually has no intention of making you pay for him)

sukuna does his daily activities of beating up losers and getting regular detentions, but now he also finds pleasure in seeing you waiting for him during after school hours by the entrance to walk home with him

is smug 24/7 and its incredibly hard to fluster him

but maybeee it happens once when you give him a big fat kiss on the lips before running away, which stuns him a little

10. What's an AU that would be interesting to explore with your OC?

Needless I went off the rails with this one! LMAO

This became an excuse to draw Celarthur/Merthur content in different scenarios & and outfits. And I had too much fun with the designs of each one.

Sun King & Moon Queen AU:

Basically, I was watching Lego Monkey Kid and this happened! I really wanted to do something that really got the essence of the show. If you watch the show you can really tell I kinda (or a lot) based it around the Lady Bone Demon & Sun Wukong. And of course some classic Chinese folklore...

It is a total rom-com scenario, with the Moon Queen betrothed to the Sun King... they but heads at first then slowly but surely fall in love.

Sleeping Beauty/ Fairy Tale AU:

This one was really made for young Sir Arthur & Celestine... I couldn't help it guys it was such a classic movie. Malfience icon (she's definitely be Morgan in this Au).

Especially when I was looking for dancing references I kept looking at the sleeping beauty reference dance sequence the most. (for a project to be revealed later still a secret) So I had to give a shoutout to that of course, love how it turned out!

Super Paper Mario Au:

I think this one is my favorite one I always got emotional for Count Bleck & Tippi's backstory. Their love story is quite similar to theirs....they just fit the characters so well.

In all honesty, if Sir Arthur didn't have Meta to ground him... then he definitely would have become like "Count Bleck." Oh but just like Tippi Celestine would still love and forgive Arthur anyways.

And here is an Au relevant to the plot of KBASW... I did wanna draw out more scenarios relevant to the plot of KBASW but then they kept leaking out to spoiler-ish territory.

Next Scenario Happy Ending Route. (Basically, Celestine & Arthur are running the GSA and this is a daily occurrence~)

They still have to wait for...(Kirby is lost for a while and is found by Meta and of course baby imprints on him and he's still Meta's) They become this obnoxiously flirty-loving couple... MK's seen this since he was a kid so he's desensitized. They do get work done I promise ~ (LMAO)

This is where Celestine finds a cure for her " broken warp star" situation. They basically gave Gala the same isolation treatment (because he was supposed to be the galaxy's savior~). But Celty (secretly visits him as often as she can to ensure he isn't lonely.

After this time Celestine finds Meta in the Fountain of Dreams (before anyone could find him). The Ancients were so preoccupied with Gala that they weren't even montioring the fountain.

Basically, no one knew that Meta Knight was born but Celestine & Arthur. He's raised in secret at the temple. (They make a cute little family together ~) And Celestine would set up secret little play dates for the both of them.

A few years passed and then BOOM!

They manage to catch Icarus in his crimes for "forcibly creating another astral from Void." (Kirby was always going to be made but he came out too early due to Icarus' involvement.)

Morpho still takes his life but they manage to trace it back to Uther... The people are now questioning the Acients in their decisions and soon fall out of power due to the controversy. To save face they crystalize Sir Uther... (HA) but that doesn't help them at all~

It was during this time that Celestine properly revealed herself as Merlyn... WHAT!? Another blunder blew up in their faces...and the people immediately began to rally behind her. The popularity of her good deeds as Merlyn is what gets her into the seat of power.

Leaving Celestine in charge of the GSA (finally left in the right hands!) And of course, she takes Arthur with her as her right-hand man and well I think the GSA would become more of a light-hearted place after that.

(Morgan leaves, she doesn't fit into this hippie-dippy-happy place but she's not evil per se... she kinda just travels around as she pleases and she does find her happiness being a wanderer.)

Nightmare is still a problem but Nightmare Enterprise is never created, so it's not as widespread. So it's managed and the galaxy is thriving under Celestine's control. And of course, Arthur & Celestine confess their feeling for each other yada yada yada....

And of course, Kirby defeats Nightmare and that's it~

Despite this happy ending Meta Knight never meets Jecra & Garlude as a result of this. Along with Kirby never going to Dreamland or meeting everyone; Fumu, the cappies, no nothing. And the need for Star Allies no longer exists.

soo hi everyone!! i'm back on my bully essay/meta/something writing!! sort of. i did this.

anyways anyone who's been on this page for some time know how from time to time i have insistently mentioned the parallels between lola and peanut, right?

welp! that was a joke but the time has finally come!! a super-pretentious essay just for the fun of it!! (and also bc i haven't been writing actually argumentative texts in like months perhaps a year, so. yikes, i really need to practice again)

i, in my corner, with my monstrous needs. — susan sontag, as consciousness is harnessed to flesh

take this quote both as a title and an anticipation of what is to come. the essay will be distributed analyzing first the dependence of each of them on johnny, to then draw comparisons. i'll make sure to steer as away from headcanons as possible, sticking closely to the source text. obviously, some things' interpretation might be ambiguous, but, you know. your usual occupation hazard.

also, a disclaimer before we start: while they are psychologically complex and there is always a mimetic intention in developing them, these are fictional characters, and, as such, their primary function is to be vessels for different themes, questions and so forth. therefore, i will prioritize meaning and themes over moral implications and similar elements.

i. peanut

for how much i can adore talking about him, the way peanut depends on johnny is very much on the nose; worn on his sleeve, even. in 11:11 minutes of voice lines, he mentions johnny 30 times.

many interpret this as the caricature of a boy crush, but i have reasons to believe it is much less cute than that.

the problem is that, really, more than trying to identify specific situations... peanut seems to rely on johnny for a significant part of what he does. when he does good at dodgeball:

Look at me, Johnny, look at me!

almost like a child calling for his parent's attention to be praised. he calls johnny's name when he's going through hardships, when he's scared or when he's sad.

more than someone he just loves, johnny is a point of reference. whenever there's something going on, whenever he does or has to do something, his first thought goes to johnny; vice versa, what johnny asks of him is his priority.

I gotta tell Johnny! No time. I gotta see Johnny now. Gotta help Johnny. What can I do next to please Johnny? I mean Lola! I mean…

(this also goes in a "negative" direction, envy being the other side of the medal to adoration. especially because, in some way, this reliance on johnny might be felt by him as emasculating, and, being johnny his model of masculinity, adding it to the napoleon complex thing, it's not hard to guess why it can be so unpleasant. we can see this manifest through some of the things he expresses in regards to lola- not as much an interest he has towards her, but the interest he wishes to have from her- which are a bit more different than it might seem at a first glance. but this is a mouseketool we'll need later. still:

Last time I saw her, Lola made eyes at me, not Johnny!

do we really need this part? heh. i'm not sure, but it's always good to point out)

(also, just because, for the purpose of this analysis, it might be useful to specify: while these sentiments are very much implied in peanut's canon quotes, we have no evidence in canon in what measure they are reciprocated by johnny. the fandom has universally agreed that johnny also views peanut as his Best Friend In The World; while in some measure, they must be at least a bit close, i think it is even safe to say, given the caricaturist nature of bully's characterizations, that johnny holds peanut in less consideration that peanut deludes himself into believing. quoting another post of mine, the kids who show some level of obsession towards their leader mention him on average ten or less times (gord mentions derby eight times, parker six times, kirby mentions ted five times). the leaders don't usually make names at all, that much is true; however, peanut mentions johnny 30 times, and, even in front of this proportion, johnny mentions peanut 0 times. just to make that clear)

overall, what undeniably shines through his voice lines is a feeling of general inadequacy, whether about his height, or his strength in front of a bigger adversary. the audios in which he tries to show off range from being disingenuous, to straight up improbable.

crossing what we have until now said, it is not hard to come to the conclusion that he really tries to make up, to fill this empty feeling of inadequacy by taking pride in his role as johnny's second in command.

while i am a big fan of bully's characteristic of having left much content out of the main game, leaving the gamers to dig it up for themselves, i do believe that scrapping some of the stuff that was prepared for peanut is a loss. we have a number of voice lines coming from chapter 3, in which it was heavily implied how important peanut's role as johnny's right hand man was.

for example, much like... all other seconds in command, really, he was to be followed and then fought in the rumble, before you could get to johnny, with the specific duty to cover his back. even his very first scene, the opening cutscene of chapter 3, i believe, is not to be underestimated. most of the other people, as far as i recall, call you when they need it in person; johnny, however, sends peanut. making him, de facto, an extension of himself, almost.

again, you choose the motivation. what is important, from a narrative point of view, is that peanut clings to johnny through these acts of service, almost making it the foundation of his personhood.

basically, he makes it so that, if he can't be of help to johnny, his whole self is fundamentally annihilated, giving himself completely to johnny.

ii. lola

with lola, reading between the lines gets a bit more difficult; first of all, because lola is much less transparent than peanut, her insincerity being a supporting beam of the whole chapter 3. secondly, whether she was done dirty by the creators or not, it is undoubted that being the perspective that of a teenage boy (namely, jimmy, but we certainly, as viewers, are brought to sympathize more with johnny than with lola) with all the prejudices it can bring with itself.

however, it doesn't mean that there isn't anything to work with- quite the contrary, actually. the issue with lola is that there is a certain amount of layers to get through before gaining a satisfying perception of her as a character. still, we're here to try our best, aren't we!

even behind the muddiness of her intentions and the manipulation she shows herself a master at, it is clear from the second we first meet her that what she does is in function of johnny.

to get through this mess with order, we'll start from an easy, measurable numeric information: lola mentions johnny in her audio files 19 times. which, we're assessed, IS a considerable amount.

we have extensively talked about the way her cheating patterns are a strategy not to succumb to the passive role of the girl in the heteronormative, patriarchal prototypical couple (there's a post here breaking down a lot of this stuff, if any of you is interested!!), so, instead of this, i want to focus on what lies beneath that behavior.

ultimately, the whole point is that lola expects and wants johnny to fight for her. whether is it because she feels taken for granted, or just because he can't perceive it if not through grandiose gestures like the rumble- your interpretation will work; she wants to see johnny fighting nail and teeth not to lose her, she wants him to show her that he wants her.

she's all about that attention, and she knows exactly what and how to do to get it. and i think this is especially clear when you compare the moments in which she knows there's no advantage she could go for; when she has understood that jimmy won't fall for her manipulation, when algie and chad leave her unsatisfied, when norton openly accuses her and antagonizes her - she loses her temper, lets go of that sweetened and/or flirtatious voice tone, abandons that specific kind of gesturing. she doesn't care anymore about obtaining something. she was actually angry, and she was actually upset that johnny had disappeared.

in some of her audios, she references johnny with some amount of fondness, as well:

Johnny and I were on the best date ever.

(there is also a voice line in which she says "He told me he likes me because of my personality. Isn't that sweet?"; due to it being a general chatter and not exclusive to one chapter, i assume it is relatively safe to assume she is quoting johnny. however, as i said at the beginning, we're trying to stay as close to canon material as possible, so, do your thing- and i'm open to arguments!!)

a considerable amount of audio files, however (which will lead us to our final point) is about her... calling for help for johnny, or stating, confidently, that he will come save her, or avenge her later.

Someone get Johnny! Johnny's gonna get you for this. Johnny is gonna kill you!

but wait... i have some sense of déjà vu...

You're gonna be sorry when Johnny finds out!

iii. two faces of the same medal

if i had to pick an effective image for a metaphor, i'd say that the thing about lola and peanut is that they are both dogs looking for someone to take their leash; we’re talking here about an exclusive relationship with someone they can rely totally on, someone we’ll call the Other (with a capital o, distinguished from just other. yes it is unnecessarily complicated i’m sorry).

for what my professor would call accidents of history, it happened that both of them found that Other in johnny.

each of them attempts at creating an exclusive relationship with the Other, one foolproof and fundamentally… perfect. perfect in the way that everything works like oiled gears, in the way that every next move is predictable, in the way that any accident will not break the created equilibrium. (even if, in the general sense of the term, lola and johnny's relationship is everything but perfect, it is in the connotation that we have established here. lola is aware that, no matter what she does, johnny will come back around. hell, the very thing that she does is aimed at keeping that balance; specifically, keeping him a bit on the edge, pushing him into a corner where he has to actively make an effort to keep her close.)

they both hide something they are ashamed of, regulating not only their actions and reactions but their very way of existing in the world, in order to keep that gear working, in order to remain in johnny's hand. lola hides that craving for a genuine and stable affection, dissimulating it with the cheating and the fatuous physical demonstrations of closeness; peanut hides his sense of inadequacy and complex of inferiority, by being the tough and reliable second in command.

basically, what they mean to achieve is a sense of security, the safety of not really being the one to lead but, at the same time, finding a purpose, other than a shield from the outside world that they are not willing to concede themselves to. like a... symbiotic relationship?? i was going to say parasitic, but, yknow. the Other does get some advantages, which are, respectively, peanut's acts of service and lola's capacity to boost johnny's pride.

now, of course, johnny is not aware of either of their play. which makes it even better, since, as we already said, both of their approach to the relationship needs some degree of insincerity.

like, i don't deny that johnny might be a good friend, or a loyal one. but he is an oblivious, prideful fuck who can't see past his own nose; he's got a tendency to make it all about himself - which of course goes perfectly with what we said about both peanut and lola making the Other their center, taking up, in a certain way, a passive role in the relationship.

this way, both of them aim at creating with johnny a relationship that is, in a way, codependant and conditional, in which the do ut des (their respective "service" ↔ johnny's guarantee of stability) creates the foundation of the very relationship.

this, of course, brings up the problem of exclusivity; on which, however, i prefer not to delve into too much, as this would bring us to the topic of their antagonism which... isn't really what i wanted to go for, at least not here. (it would risk bringing us a bit too close to my subjective interpretation and too far away from the canon, which i PROMISED i wouldn't do. however, someday i might elaborate on that??? idk , please do lmk if someone's interested around here)

2024 jp trip report (sights edition)

i just returned from my week-long tokyo trip, and wanted to log them down so i can remember where i went. i split up the food and sights posts thanks to tumblr's image limit per post. also apologies for my unflattering pictures😂 i don't have a particularly good phone, i was taking pics more for the memories than the niceness

Day 2 (14/5/2024)

starting with day 2 because we arrived at night on day 1.

we started the day at nakano broadway...where we spent too much time and money!! with its 10000 mandarake and other retro/anime goods stores. i forgot to take a closer picture of the entrance…anyway, just like in the hit video game Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth for the PS Vita and Nintendo Switch and PC and-

(expensive!!) twintails!! my beloved... <does not watch ultraman

and pokemon center in sunshine city ikebukuro! a very cool miraidon statue...and also a quaxly butt for some reason 😂

Day 3 (15/5/2024)

we walked around akiba and asakusa today. for a weeb in particular, i don't think you could finish walking akiba even in a week...anyway, just like in the video game Digimon Story Cyber Sl-

we walked the multi-storey donki in akiba. of particular note is the signage for the 'pokemon corner'....i'm crying 😭 love this graphic design

so we went around mandarake and a few other anime merch spots. soul hackers 2 merch spotted???? (i didn't get it since i didn't really need more acrylic stands.. :') arrow and his lil poltergeist friend tho...)

while walking, we passed by the otahimeinari shrine. it's always really nice to find these in the middle of the city..the tree's fruit were also huge!!

before we headed to asakusa, we walked by jinbocho. just like in the hit video game Persona 5 for the PS3- while i wish we had a bit more time to spend there (i would have loved to find some japanese language/linguistics-related books from prewar era), i really think most of the old books there are out of my depth 🤣 (it is a very nice place to stroll for lovers of old books and book smell though)

and after some train line switching screwups we made it to asakusa. as expected it's crowded even on a weekday! we saw the famous kaminarimon and also walked down the streets.

Day 4 (16/5/2024)

we started the day at tsukiji outer market, which was very near tsukiji hongwanji! beautiful buddhist temple. (also just like in the hit video game Shin Megami Tensei IV for the Nintendo 3DS)

we went on to ginza which was nearby, and made it to itoya, the multi-storey stationery store i spent too much time and money in 😩 they even had a paper shadowbox art exhibition below! the art pieces on showcase there are 🤯 beautiful...

before leaving ginza/hibiya area...shin godzilla spotted!!

then we went to tokyo skytree and did..even more shopping... (and even though i didn't get any reservations it was so cute to see kirby cafe in person ;w;)

and then we headed to ryogoku, the sumo town, for dinner. it's near sumida river so i couldn't resist getting a view...just like in the hit video game Paranormasight for Nintendo Switch and PC (ok i don't think this is the correct bridge 🤣 but the view was still very nice! and we DID go to the ryogoku bridge too though i didn't get a good pic of it)

Day 5 (17/5/2024)

we started at shinjuku today to walk to shibuya. this was the day that totally killed my feet T_T (not that the other days didn't already lol). apparently the other days were averaging 10k steps but this day was 30k?? i'm not a fit person to begin with..

anyway we were greeted by a giant cat overlord near shinjuku station exit!

godzilla spotted again! and we also spent a bit too much at the multi-storey tokyu hands here...

nearby takeshita street, we took a walk to meiji jingu shrine. just like in persona fiv- i especially enjoyed the walk to the shrine (now if only i didn't have foot pain from excessive walking), the scale of the pathway and trees! coupled with the wonderful 25? celsius weather...i still miss it as i'm writing this while back in singapore where i'm sweating just by existing. lol

on the way to shibuya, we dropped by this store called 'birdmore' specialising in birb merch and pet bird goods. MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR this is the first time i saw sooo many birb-themed items in one place 😭 from socks to bags to stationery to mugs and bags everything. though the species are a bit focused on the few species that generally get the birb merch in japan (budgies, cockatiels, tits, bunchou, shoebill, etc.).

i had a little talk with the shopkeeper and i mentioned we were from singapore, and she said she was envious as she wanted to visit our birdpark ;w; i told her that the birdpark moved to mandai and how the birds are flying around outside of cages and are not scared of people so you can get reallyy close to them, and she seemed so excited..aa i really hope she gets to go one day..!!

we reached shibuya parco, and...DIGIMON CORNER... i think i could cry seeing a bunch of digimon merch lined up like that in person 😭😭😭 i wanted to buy up all of these otedama SO BAD but unfortunately money and space are an issue lol. i ended up settling for an imperialdramon DM otedama ;w;

there was also a capcom store at shibuya parco! of particular interest to me were the monhun and ace attorney otedama, they didn't have otedama of susato nor my boi yian kut-ku tho...😭 it was a tough choice between nargacuga and maya ace attorney but i settled for narga ;v; (crying at otedama edgey's face though)

some other iconic locations in shibuya! just like in the video game The World Ends With You for Nintendo DS and various other-

also before we return to the hotel..the ike-fukuro statue at ikebukuro station! (TL note: fukurou is japanese for the ural owl)

Day 6 (18/5/2024)

we took a day trip to miura peninsula today (it's about an hour train ride from tokyo), using the misaki maguro ticket! i gotta get some fresh tuna sashimi while i'm in japan 😤 this might be my fave day among the days...idk, i just really enjoyed the walk and sights and food and overall experience on this day soo much ;v;;

just like everywhere in japan they have to have their own cute mascot characters....miura tunanosuke the daikon-wielding tuna samurai and miuran the sakura fairy(??)

miura beach! a very short walk from miurakaigan station and a wonderful view. also, it's just like in the hit video game Persona 5 for- (i swear i'm not specifically hunting for videogame spots lol but if i come across them why not🤭 i still find it a bit surreal how persona 1-4 were all in fictional japanese cities and suddenly..persona 5 in tokyo!)

after that we took the train to misakiguchi station and about a 20?min bus ride to misaki port. we went to the urari marche (a seafood and veg market); other than market stuffs, they had a bunch of crane machines filled with just fish and tuna merch...i respect the dedication to the theme lol! there were also other fish-related merch like this eyemask that looked like an ikura platter i wanted it so bad :')

after misaki port, we took a bus to jogashima. CATS!!!!!!! while it's not particularly a 'cat island' like some of the more famous cat islands in japan, it's still a pleasant surprise to see these cats roaming around.

and some pictures of jogashima. we walked along the uneven coast where there was no clear marked path; having stayed in the city all my life (even the nature trails here are usually cleared for easier walking) and rarely venturing overseas lol, i've never really had this sort of experience before? i didn't prepare myself for this and so my shoes meant for normal walking and not hiking kinda split halfway through the trek on uneven ground 😂 it was really beautiful, but i think because of my fitness (lack thereof) i caused extra worry...i would like to experience something like this alone sometime so i can go at my own pace without feeling pressured like i am worrying others who could've gone much faster if only i weren't there.

Day 7 (19/5/2024)

we had a morning walk at ueno park, which is HUGE and really nice to walk in, and also houses museums such as the national museum of western art, national museum of nature and science (nature museums my beloved), and tokyo national museum. sadly we didn't have time to check out the museums this time, but i'd love to visit them if i do make another trip here... my mother said before that a tour guide once told her 'singaporeans don't seem to like museums much, they prefer shopping' and sadly i am not proving that uncultured singaporean stereotype wrong with all my weeb shopping 😂😭

ueno toshogu shrine, which was built in dedication to tokugawa ieyasu. i wasn't aware till now but apparently toshogu (東照宮) refers to any shinto shrine in which ieyasu is enshrined with his deified name, and ueno toshogu is just one of the toshogu.

ok i hit the post photo limit skdfjdkgh well the rest of the day was walking around akiba with my friend 😆 we tried to look for 13 sentinels merch (we checked out radio kaikan, suruga-ya and other places) but there was none to be found /_\ i did pass by the square enix cafe though! i was tempted to get the 16-bit arrange albums of octopath and then realised i do not have a CD player anymore..and also managed to see the one (1) bravely default merch!!

just gotta slowly save up for that next trip...someday... .w.

haven't written a recap in a long while and am currently suffering from oral surgery recovery, so i've got an episode on my mind...

EPISODE 32: TOOTH OR CONSEQUENCES

ah.... dedede at some of his most needlessly sadistic. it's one thing when he's making people suffer for a reason, like to get rid of kirby, build a country club, or even just let off some steam... but the way he's written in the beginning of this episode is so cruel it's insane. and funny. like why are you doing all of this. what is wrong with you

i can't recall if this episode is one of the first instances of yabui being an obviously-bad doctor or not... it seems to be a theme throughout the series that he can be inhumane (*little shop of horrors chorus girls voice* inhumane).

the post-dentist konbini shopping trip is delightful. dedede skipping through the aisles and picking up everything that sounds good... candy and chocolate and caramel and cookies and cinnamon rolls and melon bread....... this happens when my wife goes to the grocery store too

i'm really entertained by this episode; i've watched it a number of times in the past few months. it probably goes without saying that i generally like how toothy dedede is... mouths are one of my favorite things to draw, anyway, and i feel like a lot of my dedede expressions come out with a certain, ahhh. oral fixation

what can i say.

regardless, the cg inner-mouth shots of this episode repulse me. i do feel like tons of cartoons from around this time period had some sort of plot/imagery akin to this one -- much like the infamous character-gets-shrunken-down-to-fix-another-character's-illness trope (hmmm). i just wish the sequence here wasn't nearly two minutes of foul early-2000s computer animation.

jesus christ. good fucking lord. moving on

i can't talk about this episode without mentioning all of the fun 2d animation! it was directed by junichiro taniguchi, who also did episode 78, aka escargon robo. he's very good at making the characters energetic! so many amusing expressions and performances (especially for dedede imo, but i may have a bias).

REALLY IMPORTANT dedede and escargon eat together at their funny inconveniently long dining room table. and it pans back and forth between them as they talk. it cracks me up. they are not beating the loveless marriage allegations

speaking of marriage, escargon is such a naggy wife. it's cute to see him so gleefully smug about being right. with dedede incapacitated by cavity pain, escargon doesn't have to worry as much about getting punished for insubordination, and he really runs with it... a little treat for getting repeatedly insulted.

hehe.

sometimes, i feel like this this episode was made for me to gawk at.

no reason in particular.

the parallels between dedede and bun are stellar. the shots swapping between the two..... mwah. incredible. artfully done. the color contrast between their respective rooms in particular is so pleasing.... thank you so so much for this delicious bounty, mr. taniguchi.

i am a fan of getting to see the cabinet act like a family. it feels like parm and memu spend most of their time letting their kids do whatever and not really caring about what's going on with them until something's up... i enjoy getting glimpses of the parents attempting some parenting.

i'm not usually charmed by bun-centric episodes, but something about this one warms me up to him. i think the interactions he has with everybody are endearing -- from fumu to kirby to his parents, they all mesh in a very natural way. maybe it's something about the relative realism of a kid who keeps neglecting oral hygiene...

i'm, predictably, majorly captivated by the connection bun has with dedede throughout the plot. it's just fun to see his majesty not at complete odds with (at least one of) the kids. even when they're each shoving the other towards the operating room, they're doing so with anxious smiles on their faces, trying to talk it out. so uncharacteristically peaceful...

dedede being so childish no doubt does a lot for how well these two get along in this episode. it's VERY funny when the contrast of their ages does come into play, though... like dedede using his adult, herculean strength to bust out of restraints and open a padlocked cabinet? i. i'm crazy. im crazy. im cvrazy. i'm crazy. i feel sick,. i'm crazy

downing pain meds. chewing them. maybe even sharing them with a child. ohh my god.

the reveal that kirby has no teeth isn't surprising... but, then. i guess he's just sucking toothpaste off the toothbrush in the beginning of the episode?

it's funny how many episodes conclude with this air of cynicism -- don't do this or everyone else will have a right to the schadenfreude... sometimes, it "works". sometimes, it doesn't (looking at you, weight shame episode). i would still say it's not the best way to teach lessons to kids, because i think that's objectively true, but i ALSO think growing up with this show granted me an avenue into the dark humor i still enjoy, so... double-edged sword, i guess. all things in moderation. cartoons is cartoons. learn and grow. peace and love on planet popstar

Not especially horny, but I had the thought of retired Dream having to learn corporeality again (like everyone, lol).

I specifically pictured him... being bad at Video games. He'd love them, they've got such beautiful stories, and it's so like a dream, the setting is something given and the player decides what they'll do.

But he's not that good, because he hasn't got the hand-eye coordination, and the buttons are just so fiddly, and so it becomes a regular occurrence for Hob to see Dream coming to him with pleading eyes, extending the controller his way.

And for every ledge he hops for Dream, for every monster he kills, he gets a kiss on the cheek. Hob loves it. He also loves watching Dream play, because even if it takes him a moment, he's so immersed, so excited about it.

After a few months Dream has gotten better at being human, but not at video games. It takes for Hob to come home early and finding Dream expertly smashing around a Zelda boss to find out that Dream has been... lying, a bit. He's very sorry about it, really, but he just likes when they do this together, and if Hob could forgive him?

But Hob just smiles and tells him about multiplayer games.

Dream is not, actually, good at those, because shortly after starting their first game together, because it turns out that kisses on the cheek for killed monsters are more difficult when you're both trying to look at the screen.

And it's even more difficult to kill said monsters when you've just discovered that apparently, your best friend/housemate is not at all against being kissed on the mouth.

This is the cutest thing I've ever read I'm literally dying!!! Also!!! I feel like we don't talk about Hob and video games enough and I think he would absolutely love them. He would spend hours staying up until 2am with his eyes aching from staring at the screen because he's so engrossed. And Minecraft!!! He would love Minecraft so much!!!!!!! So would Dream!!!!!!!! Imagine retired Dream making a whole little world in Minecraft and its like he can rediscover a spark of creativity he thought was utterly lost to him!!! Anyway.

So Dream starts out playing Kirby or something with pretty cute graphics and stories but. He does struggle with the jumping and the switching skills and so Hob is like ok. Let's try a different story kind of game. And then they try Zelda which Dream really loves but again. He's a little bad at it. Hob gets to be the hero, beats up the bosses, and Dream gets to run around doing silly little quests. Hob gets many kisses. All is right with the world.

He was a bit suspicious that Dream seems to be spending so much time on his games without his skills improving, but he doesn't exactly mind. The worse Dream is at killing monsters, the more kisses Hob gets. Except the truth is, Dream is now definitely better at the game than Hob...

And when Hob catches him beating a boss for the first time, of course he has to give Dream a kiss in return. A slow, soft kiss on the lips that makes Dream drop his controller and melt into Hob’s arms. Hopefully he saved his progress, because suddenly he's being carried off in the direction of Hob’s bedroom like Peach being carried off by Bowzer (only with a lot less protesting, and no pesky plumber coming to rescue him).

(I need you all to know that I really really really like golf games like Golf with Your Friends and Golf It so I have vivid scenarios in my brain about Dream and Hob playing together. The glitching golf balls. The bizarre courses. The rage. Hob making terrible puns about holes. Whoever wins on each hole gets a kiss. Hob absolutely loses on purpose so he can kiss his beloved <3)

CH02 🎶 What You Know - Two Door Cinema Club 🎶

Kirby and Kimmy led the way to the Cinema Club’s “top secret, extremely classified” location, with you following close behind.

Kimmy, a cute Asian girl, had quickly become someone Kirby was fond of. You could tell because, ever since they met, Kirby had been glued to her phone whenever they weren’t together—which, thanks to their opposite schedules, was more often than not. You thought it was sweet, in a way.

As you walked, tall, decaying warehouses loomed around you, the sun dipping lower in the sky and casting a cool breeze that cut through the otherwise warm air.

Ahead of you stood a chain-link fence, its metal posts rising high, but you noticed a gap where the wires had been sliced, just big enough to form a makeshift door.

Without hesitation, Kirby and Kimmy squeezed through. You followed suit, wincing slightly when the jagged edge of a wire scraped the skin of your leg. The cut was shallow, just deep enough for a tiny bead of blood to form and trail down to your ankle.

You brushed off the sting, trying to ignore the strange, unexpected sensation that lingered. Pain wasn’t something you feared, but it wasn’t something you sought out, either. Still, there was something oddly satisfying about it.

Your attention was immediately drawn to Charlie, who was waving at you from the entrance. Kirby and Kimmy had already stepped inside the warehouse, and you smiled at him as you made your way over.

“Welcome to Cinema Club,” Charlie greeted, swinging the door open for you. You stepped inside, pleasantly surprised by what the set up in the abandoned warehouse.

A few rows of mismatched lawn chairs and stools faced a blank wall, where the soft glow of a projector flickered. Along the wall, small fold-out picnic tables were lined with snacks, and a speaker played some music, setting a laid-back vibe as everyone trickled in.

“Not bad, Char,” you said thoughtfully, nodding in approval as you grabbed a piece of candy from a plastic Halloween bowl. The casual nickname sent a brief shiver down Charlie’s spine—though he kept it to himself, too distracted by the way you casually took the candy between your lips, looking too sweet for his own good.

He almost forgot to respond, the sight of you so nonchalant with the treat making him certain he would rather be the one on your tongue instead of the chocolate.

“It’s not perfect, but it’ll do for now,” he shrugged, trying to keep his cool as his gaze flickered away from you. There would be plenty of time to admire you later.

“You’ve got some big plans?” you asked, your eyebrows raised in curiosity.

“Oh, you have no idea,” he replied, his tone darkening with an intensity that pulled you in as you locked eyes for a brief moment. It made you wonder how his mind ticked.

Robbie called out to Charlie, urging him to get things started, and Charlie silently cursed him under his breath for interrupting the moment.

You took a seat at the back of the room beside Kirby and Kimmy, who had scooted their chairs closer together. Kimmy had her legs draped over Kirby’s, and you couldn’t help but smile a little. People often complained about PDA, but you thought small moments like that were adorable. The kind of affection that was so natural, you didn’t care who was watching.

The thought of finding someone with that kind of connection seemed impossible, at least the way you really wanted it.

For a fleeting moment, you were sad that you’d never found a real connection in anybody. Nothing that had panned out anyway.

Still, you held out hope that your budding interest in Charlie Walker could turn out differently.

Charlie cleared his throat, standing in front of the group as the projector’s beam cast a pale white light over his face, making him look even more striking in the dark room.

“Welcome back, everyone. This week, we’re watching a true classic.” With a click of the handheld remote, the DVD menu for The Shining appeared on the wall, earning a few excited cheers from the small crowd.

There were about 15 people total, and the only ones you really knew were Kirby, Kimmy, Robbie, and Charlie.

“We’ve got a new member joining us tonight,” Robbie announced, standing beside Charlie. You shifted slightly in your seat, suddenly feeling that familiar rush of anxiety, like you might be called on in class at any moment.

“Yeah, yeah,” Charlie added, flashing a small, surprised smile at Robbie’s sudden introduction. “Everyone say hi to the pretty stranger in the back.”

The group turned and waved, offering friendly smiles and casual greetings. You blushed crimson at the compliment, but the dim lighting hid your flush—except for Kirby, who poked you in the ribs teasingly, and Kimmy, who giggled quietly beside her.

Charlie mentioned a few cinematography events happening around campus before taking his seat in the front row next to Robbie.

You’d seen The Shining a thousand times, so the back of Charlie’s head in your line of sight didn’t bother you in the least. About thirty minutes into the movie, Kirby and Kimmy finally stopped whispering beside you, slipping away to God knows where. Their exit was anything but subtle—Kirby’s chair scraped loudly against the cement floor, drawing a few curious glances, including Charlie’s.

His gaze lingered on you a moment longer than it did on anyone else, and for a brief second, you caught yourself wondering what his favourite movie was. It had to be a horror, right? Maybe a slasher?

Before you could get lost in your thoughts, Charlie’s silhouette appeared in the projector’s beam, interrupting the light. Just as you hoped he would, he slid into the seat beside you, offering a small, reassuring smile.

“Thought you could use some company,” he whispered softly, offering you the tub of popcorn in his lap. You dipped your hand into the buttery snack and popped a few pieces into your mouth.

Charlie kept a neutral expression, though the corner of his mouth flicked upward for a split second. He was briefly distracted by the thought of a cheesy porno plot he’d indulged in more than once—just a fleeting, personal thought he quickly buried.

The film played on, but you and Charlie barely paid attention, too caught up in whispering fun facts about the movie to each other.

“You know,” you leaned in a little closer, your chair shifting so you could whisper in his ear, “they disposed of so much fake blood that the gutters of a nearby village actually ran red.”

Charlie shifted slightly, pretending not to notice how close you were. “I actually didn’t know that,” he lied, but he was impressed by how much you knew about the classic horror film. The truth was, he found it endearing, and each time he felt the warmth of your breath against his ear, his chest tightened in a way he couldn’t quite explain.

As the movie wrapped up, a discussion erupted among the group, but Charlie stayed seated beside you, relaxed and content. Eventually, Kirby and Kimmy reappeared, clearly having spent some time away, both sporting not-so-hidden hickeys and holding hands.

Kirby’s eyes flicked to the lack of space between you and Charlie, smirking at how close you two were sitting. You braced yourself for her usual teasing.

“There’s definitely something in the Reed DNA you just can’t resist, huh, Walker?” she teased, winking playfully at him. You glanced between them, confused.

“Oh, God… you guys haven’t…?” The words slipped out before you could stop them, and the group burst into laughter. Charlie winced, feeling a twinge of annoyance at how hard Kirby was laughing, but he quickly brushed it off.

“No, no way,” Kirby said with a grin, shaking her head. “Though Charlie here did have a huge thing for me back in high school.” She nudged his sneaker with her boot, making him roll his eyes.

“Yeah, ‘til you finally came out of the closet,” Charlie shot back dryly. “Couldn’t have told me a little sooner? I could’ve kept it a secret.”

You felt a pang of sympathy for Charlie, knowing Kirby well enough to guess that she’d probably led him on while she was still figuring herself out.

You gently placed your hand on Charlie’s shoulder, feeling the softness of his worn jacket under your fingers.

“I’m so sorry, Char,” you said softly. “If we’d met sooner, I could’ve given you a heads up.” You giggled, glancing at Kirby’s mock glare.

“Yeah, like you knew,” she shot back, still smirking, as Kimmy shrugged into her jacket.

“Oh, c’mon, Kirb. No one makes their Barbies kiss that much,” you teased light-heartedly. She shot you a playful glare, and Charlie stifled a laugh.

He wasn’t used to seeing Kirby get shut down, and honestly, he found it pretty amusing. It was a nice change of pace.

“Would you mind if I bounced with Kimmy?” Kirby’s tone was casual, but there was a silent plea in her eyes.

“Uh, sure,” you replied, though a hint of uncertainty crept in. You weren’t sure how you’d get back to campus. Luckily, Charlie saw an opportunity and jumped in.

“I can give you a ride back,” he offered with a smile, his nerves bubbling under the surface, but his composure remained intact.

You returned the smile, grateful for the offer, and Charlie felt a swell of pride, even if it was just a small favour.

Memories Day 3 - Kissing in the snow Legacies - Landon/Lizzie/Hope Warnings: implied past abuse Words: 861

Landon has never really liked winter. The first snowfall, for a good majority of his life, has always signaled misery. Home wasn’t always a place Landon wanted to be, so winter usually meant cold walks to school and cold night wandering around to avoid going home for as long as possible. Plus terrible holidays and breaks from school that meant he didn’t have anywhere else to go. 

So when the first snowfall of the year graces Mystic Falls, Landon feels apprehension. It’s habit, really, and not anything to do with his actual life. Still, he pulls himself out of his dorm room and to the Whitmore dorm common room, feeling dour. He’s tense, like something bad is going to happen at any moment. 

“Hey Landon!” Hope smiles when she sees him. She kisses him on the cheek. “Did you see?” 

Lizzie walks over, looking equally cheerful. 

“See what?” he asks. 

“It’s snowing!” Hope says, grabbing his hand. “Come look!” 

Landon holds in his sigh. Hope is excited about this. Lizzie, too, even if it’s to a lesser degree. He doesn’t want to ruin their fun, so he sucks it up and lets them pull him outside. 

The cold isn’t too biting, and the snow is pretty. He knows he’ll get over himself in a few days, but even with Lizzie spinning around with a contented smile on her face and the snow dotting Hope’s hair and eyelashes, Landon can’t help but feel close to panicking. He shoves his hands into his pockets as Hope reaches out to catch the falling snow. 

“Isn’t this great?” Lizzie says. “I love the smell of snow in the air.” 

Hope leans down, bundles up snow in her hands, and throws it at Lizzie’s back. She squeals, laughs, and grabs her own ball of snow. 

“I’ll get you, Mikaelson!” she shouts. 

Neither can use their powers at Whitmore, so they rush around the lawn laughing and throwing snowballs at each other, which miss most of the time. Their joy slightly cheers Landon up, but it’s not enough, and eventually, Hope notices what a dark cloud he is. 

“What’s wrong?” she asks as she comes up to him. 

“Nothing.” He shakes his head. It’s stupid, anyway. 

Lizzie raises an eyebrow. “Spit it out, Kirby. You know you can’t lie to us.” 

He sighs, looking all around as if it’ll feel less embarrassing if he’s saying it to the trees or the sky or the foot of snow freezing his feet. “I just don’t have a lot of good memories around winter or snow or whatever.” 

“I’m sorry,” Hope says. “Do you want to go back inside? We can close the windows and put on your favorite movie and ignore the world.” 

“Hell no!” Lizzie says. Hope turns to her, mouth open to chastise her, but Lizzie continues, “So you’ve had some crappy winters. That’s why you have us: we will make better memories with you. Starting now. I’m going to make sure you have the most kick-ass winter ever!” 

To that, Landon actually laughs. Not at her, but it’s the first thing that day that clears the darkness a little. 

“Yeah?” Hope asks, slipping a hand into Landon’s pocket to take his hand. 

“Yeah, sure,” he says with a smile. He points at her with his free hand. “But if this isn’t a kick-ass winter, we’re spending your next birthday in the Prison World.” 

Lizzie gasps, her hand going to her chest. “You wouldn’t.” 

“Don’t make me,” he counters. 

She glares, then leans down, grabs a ball of snow, and hucks it at him. Landon ducks out of the way, and suddenly he’s involved in the continuing snowball fight. It doesn’t last very long, ending when he slips on some ice and falls on his back, the wind getting knocked out of him. Hope rushes over to him, pulls him up, and checks that he’s okay. When she’s sure he’s fine, she pulls him in for a kiss, flurries of snow falling around them. Even if he had gotten hurt, Hope’s warm lips on his would have been all he needed to feel better.

“Cute,” Lizzie says when they pull apart. 

They look over to her to find her with her phone in her hands. She turns the screen to them at their quizzical looks. On it is a picture of the two of them, framed by the snowfall, their cheeks red from the cold. Landon snatches her phone out of her hand. 

“Hey!” Lizzie protests. 

“Your turn!” he says, ushering Hope over to her. 

Lizzie stops trying to get her phone out when she realizes what’s happening. She kisses Hope, Landon snaps the picture, but before he can do anything else, Hope steals the camera. Landon makes a noise of protest, but then Hope pulls him over to her other side and holds the camera out. 

“Smile!” she says. 

Lizzie and Landon share a look over Hope’s head, and then they both lean forward and kiss her on either cheek, and she chuckles in surprise as she takes the photo. Lizzie sends all three to their group chat. 

“See?” she says. “We’re making new memories already.”

Part two of my rant cause I’m not done yet

I’m gonna take a hiatus from talking about the show however, and turn to the movie for a minute

I know, everyone hates the movie

But I don’t care and you can express your opinions towards it here 👉🏼🗑️

Anyways, the whole “being pushed to the side” thing isn’t just a Cole problem, this time, it’s everyone’s problem

All of them except for green bean are planks of wood with basic personalities written on them

Kai- loud

Nya- badass

Jay- shy

Zane- robot

Cole- music

Cole has the least amount of lines in the movie. I counted. He has 45 lines of his own, then a few extra with the other ninja

I like him in the movie too. Not more than og Cole obviously but the movie version is kind of relatable to me because of the whole music thing (I’m obsessed with music)

The song in the end credits says he’s “sarcastic”, but he has no sarcastic lines that I can remember throughout the whole movie

The only mildly sarcastic line I can think of is

“All I know is we really need a ninja master. And you are not a ninja master.”

And that’s not even sarcasm

Anyways, that’s about it for the movie since he does literally nothing

He does way more in the video game version of the movie, but I’m not gonna count that since it’s apparently not canon (booo)

Ok, now time for season 11

Y’all probably know I love lava. It’s so stinking cute and I would be infinitely happy if they turned canon

I mean I think the writers are leaning more towards geode becoming canon, which I am totally not against, I think they’re also super adorable (and I’m not being sarcastic)

For season 11 he doesn’t do much in the fire chapter besides get a new vehicle (with Kai~)

But holy shit, in the ice chapter? He gets lots of stuff to do!

He has the cute-ass interaction with Kai during Fire Maker (insert squealing here)

He loses the travelers tea

He has the dream where everyone hates him

He goes out to find the travelers tree

And he becomes a dad again, this time to Krag

Then he finds out Zane is the ice emperor and he does nothing again :(

To be fair no one does anything besides Lloyd and Zane in this part of the season but oh well

So I’m not gonna say all the stuff he does this time, but he gets the most amount of attention because- it’s his season

Just go watch Tom Critic’s review of MOTM on YouTube, even though he calls it overrated it’s still a good review and it says everything I need to say

He’s hungry throughout the whole thing and that’s it :(

But he does trap ronin in a corner

Season 15, he’s the one who finally gets everyone together. Then a whole lot of nothing happens to him specifically, he’s just doing what everyone else is doing

Until he (and Kai~) get into a car crash and he acts all loopy in save haven (greatest episode of crystallized for obvious reasons)

Then he powers up, takes care of Vangelis through the dumbest “defeat” of all time, then turns into a crystal zombie for 2 seconds and loses his powers

Ughhhhh not again…

They keep losing their powers and it’s getting annoying

Next season he actually kinda does stuff. He just goes along with Zane to find the sorceress or whatever they were doing (kinda forgot- haven’t watched part 1 in a while)

He gets kicked off the tournament as soon as he fights off his opponent :(

But hey at least he isn’t shoved into a Chinese sweatshop like last time

Then he follows Wu’s ghost again and finds the new monastery

Then he finds the elemental mech and uses that to help Arin, then he just hangs out in that while fighting the bad guys

Then he- does nothing once again :(

And that’s where we end!

Well, at least with these seasons he, for the majority, got something to do. Sure he ends up mostly just going with what everyone else is doing but he does get his own thing to do sometimes

So these seasons were much better at giving him something to do :)

Anyways- there’s not much else for me to say besides give Cole more to do in season 3 whenever that comes out, and make Geode canon please they’re so cute

Mixed Signals - Azalea x Casey

a/n: absolutely not proof read!! just an angsty scenario between Azalea and her unrequited crush !

TW: mention of alcohol/underage drinking??, angst, one-sided crush

She never liked these parties, especially when she was only here for one person and one person only. He, of course, was trying his best to woo one of the cheerleaders who had absolutely not interest in him. Azalea, on the other hand, was too focused on how handsome he looked with the crappy LEDs illuminating his face with reds and purples.

She had it bad, really bad.

Truthfully, her sole reason for being here aside from Casey was to be the DD and drive him home. The odd beverage that looked like it contained a new type of disease sat untouched in her cup, she didn’t trust the cleanliness of the cooler anyway.

Things were getting rowdy in the clubhouse, the jocks arm wrestling and tackling each other with drunken laughter echoing across the main room. Kirby was the only one beside her, shaking his head in disgust at his teammates.

“I don’t see why you come to these things, they’re so lame unless you’re hammered.” Kirby had a solid point, but her heart and soul was on the dance floor now, laughing as he tackled Dan to the ground and made him say uncle.

“Oh,” Azalea hated it when Kirby pitied her, or anyone frankly. It seemed the entirely of Bullworth knew about her one-sided crush aside from Casey. Maybe he did know, and just didn’t want to reject her and ruin their eight year friendship.

“It’s okay though, I’m having a good time, really!” She was defending herself to Kirby who shrugged. “Suit yourself. I’m outta here.” She was alone, again.

Damon had been roughly shoved to the side, slamming into the wall beside Azalea making her jump. The drink in his hand spilled all over the jumper and shirt, soaking her with the sticky liquid.

“Dang, my bad!” He laughed, slurring his words as he ran back out to the dance floor. Azalea grimaced, arms held out as she shook the dripping spiked punch off of herself. Great, just great. She’d have to stay here, sticky and uncomfortable until Casey was ready to go.

“Lea! You okay?!” Lo and behold, here the blonde was, shoving Damon so hard out of the way he bounced off the wall again in a different direction. “Ah, you’re a mess! Damon’s an idiot.” He scolded his friend, quickly pulling off his letterman jacket, leaving him in his grey t-shirt.

Azalea couldn’t help but to admire the way his biceps flexed when he took it off, trying with all her might to focus on his face. “Uh, yeah. It’s fine, really.” Casey frowned, putting his drink down. “No, it’s not. You’re my buddy, my best buddy. I’m not gonna let you be sticky and uncomfortable all night.”

He thrust his jacket to her, a lopsided smile. “Here, I’m getting too hot out there roughhousing with the guys anyway.” His jacket? His prized letterman jacket? Azalea could only look at it for a minute.

“Casey I can’t—“ “Oh, did you want my shirt instead?” As he went to lift the hem of his shirt above his head, Azalea’s face lit up like a Christmas tree. She didn’t know if she’d be able to handle looking at him shirtless, much less giving her the shirt off his back.

“Your jacket’s fine thanks!” Azalea plucked it from his arm, running to the bathroom to avoid him going shirtless in front of her.

Taking her soiled clothes off and exchanging it for Casey’s jacket, she couldn’t help but admire herself in the mirror. It was big, way too big on her frame. The sleeves went past her hands and looked more like a dress than anything. Taking the glasses off her face, she smiled at her reflection. She looked cute, really cute in the oversized jacket.

Stepping out of the bathroom, she rolled the sleeves up to her wrist so she didn’t look like a four year old wearing their dad’s clothing.

“Much better, buddy!” Casey hugged Azalea, the redhead straining to get her arms around his wide torso and hug him back. “Thanks, Case,” she called out to him as he returned to the dance floor.

The party just got a lot more enjoyable. But, the universe couldn’t let her be too happy for long.

“Oh, are you and Casey dating now?” Angie had asked, stumbling up to the redhead. Azalea opened her mouth to talk, but was cut off before she could answer. “Pft, Ang! Me and Azalea are just like, the bestest friends ever! She’s practically my sister! She’s just wearing my jacket since Damon spilled his drink on her. Isn’t that right, Azalea?”

Whatever happiness she had felt in that moment tanked. Giving a tight lipped smile, the redhead nodded. “Yeah, just friends. The best.” Angie looked up, grinning. Azalea’s stomach sank seeing the lipstick marks all over Casey’s face, the same shade Angie was wearing.

Angie grinned at the redhead, pushing her shoulder. “Better not steal that jacket, Casey said he’d let me wear it at the next game.” Oh, of course he did. Anything to get with the cheerleaders.

“Wouldn’t dream of it.”

I've done basically nothing but lay down and be exhausted since kirb2k over 2 months ago, but I did at least get the kirbox orders fulfilled. I have an immunology appointment in another 2 1/2 months and maybe they might do something to help me feel better. (it's a bad time. I know it seems to be most of what I talk about, but it is kind of all-consuming. even this roundup wore me out.)

also there are sometimes comments that make me smile but I don't have anything to add to them so I just read them and smile and don't put them in the roundups, but I promise I do see them all, like the many yeehaws (and yes haws and heehaws) for [cowboy kirb] <3

it's been a while since I thought about Shadow Marx, I think the basics are all the same. he's friendly and helpful and honest, kinda solitary/introverted. he's pretty quiet and doesn't speak much. he can do a bit of magic but has no wish granted powers. he's clumsy as hell so he floats everywhere so he's not tripping over himself all the time

his place in the plot is still the same. just the local wandering magic mime that found Shadow Kirby in a moment of need and directed him toward the wish granting comet for help. only thing is the reason SK needed the wish has been retconned and I'm not sure yet what the new inciting incident is

maybe it was just something arbitrary and silly? a cute idea would be that SK was feeling down and lonely and wanted to wish for a friend, the Nova thing didn't work out, but he ended up with a friend through SMarx. problem with that is I really like the scene of Nova almost taking "payment" from SK but SMarx kicking him out of the way to take his place as a parallel to what happened with Kirby and Marx lol. I suppose I'll think on it

anyway the conclusion is that after the mirror world version of events of milky way wishes, SMarx ends up mute as a consequence of Something. he gets by fine because he barely spoke anyways and is good at charades and illusions. he has a soft wheezy laugh and whistles to say hello

he is SK's best friend and generally gets along with everyone. not antagonistic at all unlike Marx lol. he and Mirror Magolor have no history but whenever they meet after mirror world return to dream land they're bros

anyway, I really love your writing! I just finished a 20 chapter fic about Kaiba (gradually and a little reluctantly) adopting Yugi because his grandpa died, and then Anzu dies (she's his GF in the story) so Yugi gets really sad and breaks down

I'm going to write a part 2, of basically Yugi going through therapy while living at Kaiba's house, could I PLEASE have some fluffy head canons of Kaiba and Yugi at the house while Yugi is experiencing depression? Basically he's suffering a bereavement overload (AKA he has trouble grieving for 2 people at a time)

Maybe just Kaiba..."trying" to be a dad, maybe Mokuba helped him with experience, but idk how that would go

Well, given that I also lost three loved ones in my life, all in the same year, I can definitely empathize with the grief overload. I can say that some of the things my husband did to comfort me really helped. Even if they were small acts.

What if Kaiba found a sufficiently mind numbing game that they could both play to distract from the pain? (When I was grieving my husband and I played Borderlands 2 together.) What if Kaiba and Yugi played Kirby’s Epic Yarn, or Yoshi’s Woolly World, or Secret of Mana, or Pokémon. Games that are cute, and uplifting, and great two player games. And something where if Kaiba gets competative, as he does, it would be ridiculous and hilarious given how Cutesy the games are.

Or there could be moments where Kaiba brings Yugi a hot cocoa, with like ridiculous frills, mini marshmallows in color Star shapes, with whipped creme, and chocolate shavings, and little wafer cookies. Etc. Just such a rich person cup of cocoa. So incongruent with Kaiba’s uptight and grumpy demeanor.

You could have Kaiba cook him dinner, and totally botch it. Like accidentally cooking a meal that’s all potatoes. Mashed potatoes and french fries. Or a grilled cheese with a side of Mac and cheese. Ya know, just like silly things that are basically the same food twice, but Kaiba doesn’t think about it because he normally doesn’t cook food. Or maybe he cooks Yugi some dinosaur nuggets, and before Yugi can acknowledge the dinosaur shapes, he drowns them in molten gravy.

Kaiba could bring home a book. Something random. And just unprompted, start reading aloud from the book. Softly, with a tenderness so unlike his usual manner.

He could buy Yugi a nightlight. People who suffer from loss can often suffer from night terrors. Maybe the nightlight shines little Blue eyes white dragon shapes on the walls. Very on brand for Kaiba.

Maybe he buys Yugi a “Snuggy” the blanket with sleeves. Then grouses and mutters when Yugi doesn’t use the sleeves. But he sees Yugi use he blanket anyway and cocoon himself inside it.

Depression kinda makes you not want to do anything, especially grief depression, so Yugi might not be responsive during all these things. But it would be small feeble expressions, or subdued body language that would show Kaiba the things he’s doing affect Yugi.

Anyway, I hope the ideas help. Good luck on your Hurt/comfort fic. I’m sure it’ll be amazing. I think you got this.

uhhhh pink IS my favorite color actually!! uhhh it used to be purple but now it's pink- i change ot every once in a while

anyways uhhhh the girl in my icon is my favorite kirby character!!!! her name is susie haltmann and i love her a lot. she's my favorite character ever actually ^^'

i am. going to be talking a lot and some of it might not make sense since its nearly 5am but here goes

her home game's kirby planet robobot where she's one of the primary antags!! kirby runs into her 4 times over the story and she has actual dialogue which is really cool since a lot of kirby games don't really do that. uhhh she's the secretary of the haltmann works company and she's helping lead their mechanization occupational project which is a plan to mechanize people and planets against their will which is. not good obviously. and in the end when kirby defeats the main antag star dream susie flies off to go restore the company!! but she focuses it on helping people with haltmann works co.'s instead of forcing them to become mechanized!! she did bad stuff but one of the main themes of kirby ( to me at least ) is forgiveness and redemption and susie is a pretty good example of that.

her body language is REALLY good. ( probably because outside of her eyes she can't really emote, at least not with her face ) here are some of my favorite poses from her, all from robobot :]

look at her!! she's so cute!! she's so full of life!! the way she moves contrasts the whole point of the company she works for and i think that does wonders for her design.

susie's concise with her words. VERY calculated. she thinks pretty highly of herself and she's got a bit of sass to her. she's also ( at least during robobot ) full of some terrible ideals that are shared with the president of the haltmann works company and her father. that everyone who resists is below them and most be put in their place. yeah.

AND HER BACKSTORY- okay so susie and her dad, max profitt haltmann, president of the company were working on restoring a machine called star dream, right?? and one day star dream sucks susie through a portal and spits her out in a place called another dimension, which she stays in for who knows HOW long until she finally makes it back home. but uhhh. haltmann doesn't recognize her, since star dream was feeding off haltmann's memories. so susie takes the role of secretary, likely to try and steal star dream so haltmann will stop digging a grave for himself. along the way she picks up the ideology her father / boss has and then that leads to what we see in robobot.

so yeah, shes uh. quite the sad character. but there's still a lot to be happy about with susie too!!

she loves singing, she loves ice cream, she's a pianist, she's terrible at marketing, she's got a rivalry with the mage sisters ( specifically francisca ) and i find that pretty cute all things considered. she's clever, she seems to love dressing up, she seems to genuinely enjoy kirby's company enough to consider being a star ally, she possibly makes some friends that she desperately needed. those last three were moreso inferences than canon facts but still - -'

and uh- yeah!! that covers most of my thoughts abt susie, lol. at least the canon-adjacent thoughts. susie's overall a rlly complex character who has quite a bit to talk about, lol
