Hi zumi how do you feel about the opinion that the MC doesn't get enough focus in rejuvenation unlike other characters like Melia and aelita (not saying that its necessarily the case just an opinion I see a lot)

It's a silly thing because the protagonist objectively holds just as much importance as those two, if not a lot more lol. People only jump to that conclusion because the player doesn't get the spotlight early on and your actions don't show to make a big difference until much later into the game. And y'know... The terms "deuteragonist" and "tritagonists" exist, which could be applied to Melia and Aelita respectively perhaps, but people seem to forget they exist! More than one character can act as a central figure to a story and it's bizarre to me that people don't seem to know this. Rejuvenation is what I tend to call a JRPG in a Pokémon sleeve, and more often than not those kinds of games have a central group of people the game focuses on, rather than just one character.

But falling back on the "player doesn't seem to matter that much early on" part, I've explained it on Reborn's discord before, but in combination with the JRPG part, Rejuvenation kinda runs on the principle of the butterfly effect, as in that though actions may seem small/don't seem to make an immediate difference they can have big consequences in the long run (see; how the bad ending unlock is calculated). It lines up with the player starting out being stranded in an unfamiliar region without any real footing, but as the player gets further through the game and grows more confident in their skills, this becomes reflected by the game's story where they start getting more importance (the turning point for this being the end of Act 1, I'd say, with the G&Z battle being a rite of passage).

But if I had to give my completely unfiltered opinion, after the rewrites Rejuv's already gotten to make the story flow better & improve on the characterization of many of the game's central figures, most people who complain about the player not being the center of attention nowadays come off as this

because i've seen melia getting called a mary sue just because she gets a lot of attention despite being a heavily flawed character bc people are just upset that the player isn't all-important all the time so like. whatever

It's kinda shocking to me how few people seem to know how prevalent the 'my great grandmother was cherokee' myth is and how it's almost never actually true, especially when it comes with things like 'never signed up' or 'fell off the trail' or 'courthouse burned down destorying the documentation' etc etc.

People just don't even seem to know the history like.. when the Trail happened. My great great great grandfather was 2 years old during Removal in 1838, so peoples 'my great grandmother hid in the mountains!' is so clearly wrong. And we have rolls. From before and after removal, rolls done by cherokee nation and others by the government, rolls that were not stored in one random flammable courthouse. It's not difficult to find the actual evidence of ancestry.

And just.. there are lots of ways those family stories get started. It was a practice during the confederacy to claim cherokee ancestry to show one's family had 'deep roots in the south' that they were there before the cherokee were removed. Many people pretended to be cherokee and applied for the Guion-Miller payout just to try to steal money meant for cherokees - 2/3rds of the applicants were denied for having 0 proof of actual cherokee ancestry. [We even see lawyers advertising signing up for the Miller roll just to try to get free money.] And the myth even started in some families in the cherokee land lotteries, where the land stolen from us was raffled off, including the house and everything that was left behind when the cherokees were removed. We have seen people whose families just take these things stolen from the cherokee family and adopt them into their own family story, saying that they were cherokee themselves.

If you had some family story about being cherokee and you wanna have proof one way or the other, check out this Facebook group run by expert cherokee genealogists that do research for free. Just please read the rules fully and respect the researchers. They run thousands of people's ancestries a year and their average is only around 0.7% of lines they run actually end up having true cherokee ancestry.

the dragon prince's last season was below mediocre, the finale was terrible and the major reveal was the worst thing i have ever witnessed. this post is long and strongly worded and typed up at midnight.

harrow being in pip was predicted since s1. everyone knew because they laid it out clear as day. it was intentionally set up and like all good bits of writing, the audience sees it and knows what is coming up.

why 6+ years into tdp's lifecycle was it made canon. after years of not answering it or just giving "half truths" (aaravos much?) all to just say "screw the audience" and make it confirmed in a scene that has its own issues and it was AFTER A TWO YEAR TIME SKIP.

not only that, it ruins harrow's and viren's relationship to such a degree i can only assume the creators just hated these two in the end. harrow being in pip implies:

viren intentionally did it without harrow's consent, costing harrow his autonomy whilst also making viren never actually caring about harrow in the end (which the canon does not support, i have eyes and reading comprehension). this begs the question: HOW COULD VIREN NOT HAVE UNFINISHED BUSINESS aka show up in the inbetween? harrow was the one relationship he cherished and then they pull this stunt and said "actually no viren is terrible even tho he DIED saving a kingdom that never deserved him."

viren did it and harrow WANTED it to happen which makes harrow look even WORSE than he was already set up to be. a king who struggles with the responsibilities and weight of his crown and is tired of these issues that he... kind of lets happen. it was interesting to see where it goes but wow this makes harrow an asshole if he just flew out of that window and did NOT come back to katolis for over 2 years.

viren... didn't?? do it??? which doesn't make sense because this show never has a mage unless its callum or its for plot convenience (and they die or are a one off character) and we are just back at square one. if they go this route, i will have to applaud the audacity for them thinking their audience is really that stupid.

not to mention the whole "black person spends a good chunk of time in an animal form" trope, which they should have just dealt with early on.

pip theory being canon in a two year time skip... let's pretend i accept this for a second:

they said arc 3 would be another time skip. 7-12 years possible. what the fuck. so harrow is never coming back (he said fuck katolis or he is DEAD EITHER WAY) or its gonna be relegated to a graphic novel or book (if they even complete the draft in time for publication YEAH WE KNOW WHY BOOK 3 NEVER HAPPENED). and even then. the original 2 year time skip. there is not going to be any actual explanation for it just like there was no good reason for rayla to leave callum bc there will be nothing to show for it.

they really couldn't just let this one theory never get addressed. it could have been a poorly done red herring but no. this is a massive fuck you to everyone that watched the show since day 1.

that interview on cartoon universe's youtube page where they just admitted they were tired of being asked where harrow was for so long they just did it. it was intentional and it was to spit in our faces.

their relationship means barely anything now, its too late in the story for them to fix this NOT LIKE THIS SHOW COMMITS TO ANYTHING ANYWAY and i hope aaron ehasz and justin richmond never write another cartoon again.

Kinda got a love/hate relationship with the history of K/S because it's like. Can I please have a queer discussion about this 1960s television show without it being reduced to "shipper discourse". I thought Spock and Kirk were homo long before I knew that their characters spawned a fanfiction counterculture. The bisexual dude who wrote the episode that really kick-started the movement didn't know it was going to coalesce into the fan phenomenon that it did, he was just writing what he knew how to write best: the repression of burning male desire, and two dudes doing homoerotic shit. reading about the veilguard sales stats and tbh i don't know enough to compare numbers but i'm not surprised it fell short of expectations, it was in development hell for 10 years... i've kinda reached the point where i'm mostly just sad about it lol and i'm also kinda tired of discussing it because no matter what kind of criticism you have or how nicely you word it and no matter how many caveats you add about EA someone will be on your ass with excuses and trying to argue with some obscure piece of lore posted on a forum back in 2014 or some dev's tweet or a writer's AMA on reddit that i'm just supposed to know about somehow... like personally i'm looking at the game right in front of me that i paid for and i don't think i should have to do intensive behind the scenes research to be allowed to criticize it. at the end of the day i think veilguard as a whole, while fun and successful in some ways, still has really horrible dogshit writing that failed to resonate with fans and i don't think EA held a gun to their heads and forced them to make all of those writing decisions. the writers themselves have admitted to these choices! idk why we can't just say that 😭 of course i'm not trying to solely blame the writers (they are going to take the fall regardless, unfortunately) and the game had a hellish development cycle with many of the writers voicing displeasure with the way things turned out but it's actually both EA and bioware that are to blame for that. i'm sure it made the writing difficult and i sympathize but it also can't be an absolute excuse. can we just be honest. EA sucks but bioware is not an indie dev and they are guilty of many of the same practices. multiple things can be true at once and we can acknowledge both and criticize both.

hi, do not make ai content from voice actors' work. that includes voice lines from games, shows, etc. you are not entitled to use their voice as you please. that is their tool, that is how they earn a living, and more importantly, it is a part of their person.

i'm blocking anyone i see using ai chatbots, ai image generation, or ai voice mixes. if you're not interested in treating the works of artists with respect and refuse to discontinue use of ai mechanisms, then save me some trouble and block me yourself. thanks

i wish in the second trolls movie that the rock trolls was not the ones to be trying to make everyone the same as them, i can't begin to describe that is the entire opposite of what "rock" really is, or at least the type of rock they was displaying is the opposite of what it is

they was leaning a bit into the "punk rock" typa vibe with them due to their designs and such, the music not so much but design wise they feel like they lean towards punk rock, and if thats the case we can assume that "rock" in the movie also encapsulates "punk"

so with that being said it bugs me just a tad bit, that rock of all of them was used to be the ones to be like "we want to make everyone like us! make everyone the same to unite us!" bc thats so far from what actual punk is, in fact the whole thing about punk is to go against authority and express ourselves (yk, our differences)

ik im probably nitpicking a bit but i grew up with a punk for a dad (as in he was literally around when punk was formed, 1970's) LOL, its been apart of my life it is apart of my life so i know a bit about punk culture and what they stand for

SO IDK at the end of the day i dont really care, its a kids movie and i can see by default why they chose rock out of their options to be such a role for the movie, but idk! it just makes me a wee tiny intsy bit :( as punk literally does not stand for uniformity, it fights against systems that wants us to all be the same, it fights for individualism

but w/e, punk has that "aesthetic" that makes it easy to be like "wow theyre intense" bc visually they can be intense LOL, they're also easy to paint as """the bad guys""" due to their aesthetic (big quotes around the bad guys as more near the end as we know barb wasnt really trying to be evil, nor in general are the rock trolls aggressive and/or evil inherently)

anyway to end this off i love barb and i love the rock trolls, theyre so awesome i wish we had more time to develop barb a little bit more felt like she didnt get the screentime she deserved imo, live laugh love barb i dont express my adoration for her enough

This is what it feels like being a hex fan sometimes, like its not even a twitter issue (and in a sense its not necessarily an issue, sometimes ppl just wanna have fun n not spout theories n discussion 24/7! I get that!) but i feel like a lot of people r quick to write off aspects of the game and characters and insist that, despite it being a mullinsverse title, it's not that deep/things are surface level

Friendly reminder that your “cis friend” or your “straight friend” in your queer friend group may not actually be your cis or straight friend.

Sometimes being a part of a friend group that has a lot of openly trans or gay people in it isn’t enough to make someone feel safe or comfortable enough to come out. For some of us it really does take years, and it doesn’t matter how many of our closest, most beloved & trusted friends around us come out and share their queerness/transness with us. It just isn’t as easy as that for some of us, and as much as I admire your courage to come out to your friends I really ask you to see that it isn’t that way for everyone.

And I can assure you that being constantly labelled as “the cis one” or “the straight one”, who’s told they “wouldn’t get it because they’re not trans”, or “that you obviously don’t understand, but”, or is kept out of queer conversation, or just in general made fun of (even when it’s in good spirits) — seriously, seriously gets you down. It hurts and there’s no reason for it.

Unless someone has told you, in confidence and honesty that they identify with a certain label such as cis or straight, do not take it as a-given. Just because you haven’t been explicitly told otherwise doesn’t mean it’s not happening, and it doesn’t mean that that person isn’t struggling.

A trans/queer person who feels isolated from their own community, their own queer friends, will really feel the effects of it.

yeah there’s. a lot of misconceptions around qbad rn lmao. It’s one of the reasons Im so obnoxious about him, tbh, so that it’s not JUST the negativity that gets spread. He’s a really good target for the hate rn, because he has a smaller fanbase and his pvp playstyle + lore lead him to all that antagonizing during purgatory, and that gets vented out into fics.

It’s genuinely really interesting, the dichotomy that seems to exist between tumblr and twitter regarding him. Ive heard nothing but slander about bbh from twitter (again, he is not faking his illness, that is a lie), but he’s got a solid enough foothold on tumblr that ive seen more hate towards the fans that the cc, here. which makes sense, given how we take over the tag almost ever day when he logs on. genuine o7 to people who find that obnoxious but thats one of the reasons i overtag so much, for blocking purposes.
