You don’t need to open the door to know whose hand is knocking. 

Two quick raps, a half-second pause, and one more for good measure. He has knocked on your door the exact same way, ever since you were in elementary school and he was begging you to come play volleyball. Over the years, that even rhythm would sound every single morning, right before you rushed out of the house to walk together to class.

He’s no stranger to your home. If he wanted, he could fish out the spare key under the doormat and enter as he pleased, without so much as a second glance from your parents. With the amount of time he spent with you growing up, it was as if he was another member of the family; just a typical annoying brother, who happened to live a few houses down.

But it had been a whole two weeks since you’d seen, or even spoke to him. His presence was that of a stranger, an unfamiliar guest, a distant relative. He could only knock, and hope you weren’t still upset enough to ignore him completely.

The traces of anger still linger in your chest, but you turn the handle anyway to find him shivering on your porch, clothes soaked from the rain.

He’s grown a lot from that snot-nosed child who showed up at your door every second weekend. He is taller, for starters, and his body has filled out with muscle. The baby fat in his cheeks was chipped away, leaving him with that perfectly sculpted face that had his classmates fawning over him. A charming smile and a wink from his soft, sparkling eyes would have anyone going mad.

Yet those eyes, the ones that would melt the heart of his fangirls, were nowhere to be seen. Instead, they looked red and puffy, like he’d been crying before he arrived.

He never cried, not unless it was something serious.

“Can we talk?�� Tooru asks, his voice oddly quiet. Maybe it’s the rare vulnerability in his eyes, or maybe it’s the fact that you’ve never really been able to refuse him, but you step aside to let him in without a second thought.

Wordlessly, he takes his place on your couch, as you fetch him a towel to dry his clothes, and poured two glasses of water. Each action is taken in complete silence, other than the opening and closing of cupboards and clinking of glass. Tooru watches you as you move from room to room, sitting with his back straight and hands folded neatly over his lap. By the time you join him, placing a glass in front of him and keeping the other in your hands, his hands are curled into fists, and his shoulders are almost imperceptibly shaking.

It’s awkward, it’s stifling, and it’s utterly miserable. You’re unused to his presence being something that incites such discomfort, when he was your shoulder to cry and ear to listen to all of your problems throughout your teen years.

One argument. That was all it took, for your comfortable silences and soothing familiarities to be ripped away.

“I’ve packed up my house.” Tooru says, breaking the silence. “Everything I own–everything that’s important, that is. I’ve been putting it off, but I’m leaving tomorrow, so... I had to get it done.”

“Oh yeah?” You mutter. “I’m sure that was hard, picking which trophies you wanna take with you.”

He laughs, a weak sound. “The important stuff, I said.”

“Didn’t you also say that winning was the most important part of life?”

“Hey, don’t use my middle school self’s words against me, you’re better than that, [Name]!” Tooru whines. And for a moment, it’s easy to forget why you were upset in the first place, and slip back into that back-and-forth teasing that you were so used to. But it only takes one look into his bloodshot eyes to remember, and the laughter dies in your throat.

You turn your attention to your water, ignoring the way he stiffens. “Yeah, well you’re good at suddenly changing your mind, aren’t you?”

There it was. That awkward silence.

Tooru was at a loss for words, alternating between staring at you with his lips pursed, ready to say something, before changing his mind and looking down at his feet. You sit at his side, idly taking sips from your drink and ignoring the simmering tension. It’s unbearable, the feeling of conflict between you. Unbearable, and unfamiliar.

“I know you’re angry at me.” He blurts out suddenly.

Your hands freeze, right before the glass reaches your lips. “I’m not angry at you.”

“You don’t have to lie to me.”

“I’m not angry at you.” You repeat, placing the glass down with a little more force than is necessary. “You’re chasing your dreams. I’d be a pretty lousy friend if I was angry about that.”

“But you are angry,” Tooru prompts, leaning forward.

“I… Yes, I am angry.” You admit. “I’m angry that I found out about this two weeks before you planned to uproot your entire life and move to the other side of the world. I’m angry that even though you’ve been thinking about this for so long, you haven’t told me anything. I’m angry that I’m apparently the last person you’ve told–”

You cut yourself off, and take a deep breath to steel the stirring emotions turning in your stomach. “I’m not angry at you, I’m just angry at the way you handled this. That’s all.”

Looking at him in the eye is too difficult, so you look at your hands instead, clenching them into fists in your lap.

“I just don’t–I don’t understand why. Why didn’t you want me to know?” Your words wavered, thick with emotion. “Did you want to leave me behind that bad?”

“No!” Tooru cries. “You’re my friend, of course I didn’t want to leave you!”

“Then explain it to me! Explain why, when you were researching Argentinian volleyball teams six months ago, you never thought to tell me you were thinking about leaving Japan?”

You're both yelling now, but you can't bring yourself to care about waking up the rest of your house. You only care about him, and the tattered state of your friendship.

“You wanna know the real answer? I was scared.” Tooru chuckles bitterly, raking his fingers through his air.. “I was terrified, because you’re one of my best friends and I didn’t know how you would react. Telling Iwa-chan was easy, a walk in the park compared to telling you. At least I knew he would never try to stop me, but if you…”

There is a pause, and a beat of silence before he continues. “If you asked me–truly, truly asked me to stay, then I don’t think I would say no. No matter how suffocating it is here, I would deal with it if you needed me. And I guess, part of me was scared you would, and I didn’t know what I would do if I forced myself to give up like that.”

You stare at him, wide-eyed. What could you say to that, the admission that he would forfeit his chance to pursue his goals, if you tried hard enough? There was a stir in your chest, a sickly, selfish thought worming into your mind:

What if you did?

The idea is followed almost immediately with a wash of guilt, bile rising in the back of your throat. You hate yourself for even considering the idea, but you can’t deny how badly you want him to stay. Part of you yearns for your high school days to stretch on a little longer, if only for a few more months of cheering on Aoba Johsai during their volleyball matches and celebrating with Tooru and Iwaizumi afterwards.

At some point, you had gotten ramen together for the last time, without even realizing it. You should have savoured the moment; captured the memory in your mind and kept it like a polaroid in the back of your head.

“I want to stay with you, I really do.” Tooru says quietly, not meeting your eye. “But I want this even more. We’re not kids anymore; I need to move on.”

You inhale sharply.

He was right. You weren’t kids. You couldn’t keep trailing behind him, always at his heels or by his side. As much as you loved having him close to you, you loved the idea of him thriving even more. In the end, that is all that matters.

“I know,” Your eyes are fully glossed over with tears, but you steel yourself enough to meet his gaze. “And I would never want to hold you back. Your happiness means more to me than anything else, so if this… if this is going to make you happy, then you have all my support.”

“Do… you mean that?” He asks, searching your expression for any sign of doubt.

You punch him in the shoulder lightly. “You’ll always have my support, dumbass.” 

The jab doesn't faze him at all; if anything, he looks overjoyed.

“Thank you,” Tooru’s words are choked up, but there’s a clear weight that’s been lifted off his shoulders. “Thank you, I couldn’t leave without hearing that.”

Of course he couldn’t.

No wonder he looked a mess when he arrived. You were willing to bet the guilt of an unresolved argument between the two of you was eating him alive. It wasn’t like it was any easier for you; your own guilt began to stir at the thought of him tossing and turning, unable to get the idea of your disapproval out of his head. 

“You’re gonna go far, okay? The world's gonna know the name Oikawa Tooru, starting setter. And when you’re up there, on Argentina’s best volleyball team, winning game after game–” You flashed him a smile. “Make sure to remember your best friend, okay?”

“Yeah,” He grins. “I’ll thank Iwa-chan for the support–”

“Excuse me–”

“And you, of course.” Tooru’s smile widens, and he reaches out to pull you into a side hug. 

“Yeah, yeah.” You grumble, but you’re not able to hold back a small smile of your own. “Make sure to win lots of games while you’re over there, okay?”

Tooru scoffs, the same indignant noise he’s made ever since middle school, when you told him he better win his games or else. It was always an ‘or else’; ‘or else’ he would have to buy snacks on the way home, ‘or else’ you would tell his little fangirls that he tripped and fell into a pole that morning, ‘or else’ you wouldn’t go with him to that amusement park you’ve both been eyeing.

Whether the silly threats made any difference on his performance, you’ll never know. All you know is this time, next time, and every time after that, there’s nothing holding him back from giving every game his all.

“It’s a deal.”

You had been a swimmer for a few years already, but you never learnt how to deal with the anxiety that was messing with your mind each time you had a competition, or something like that. It was a bit complicated for you to take care of this sometimes, but you were kind of used to it. No one knew how to help you, and you didn’t want any help anyway. Until him. 

Kageyama Tobio was a boy you met in highschool. He was part of the volleyball club, and he became one of the main players during his first year. It was quite impressive, you had to admit it ; even if you knew nothing about volleyball. You talked with him a few times at different moments, but nothing more. 

But slowly, you and Tobio grew closer to each other. And after some time, you started to go out with him. It was a bit complicated at first, because the poor boy didn’t know how a relationship was working ; but he was making a lot of effort and you loved this about him. He was trying to take care of you as much as you were doing with him, and it was making him more adorable in your eyes. 

You were currently alone outside, not so far from the pool. You were trying to breathe as slowly as possible, while you were hiding your face between your hands. You had a competition in a few days, and the usual anxiety had made its comeback in no time. It was getting worse lately, and you started to worry about not being able to control it as you wanted when it needed to be gone. 

You heard a few steps coming closer to you, but you decided to ignore them. Maybe the person was just passing by, or else they would understand that you wanted to stay alone. But when you heard the voice coming from next to you, your heart almost stopped. 

“Hey, are you okay? Is something wrong?” It was Tobio, and the slightly worried tone of his voice broke your heart. You put your hands away, slowly turning your head to look in his direction. A soft smile appeared on your lips, and quickly sat back correctly. 

“Tobio, sweetie! Everything’s fine, don’t worry,” you started to say, and the little frown on his face made you understand that he wasn’t believing you even a little. He wasn’t the bed at reading people’s emotions, but you were obviously anything but fine right now. 

“It’s your competition again?” He softly asked as he sat right next to you, slightly tilting his head to the side to keep looking at you even from here. Your only reaction was to sigh slowly, and Tobio almost thought he did something wrong. Until you rested your head against his shoulder, your gaze fixed on the pool in front of you. 

“I’m just so stressed… What if I ruin everything?” You started to say, and your voice got a little shaky with those words. Kageyama simply wrapped an arm around your shoulders, holding you close to him. He wasn’t the best at this, but he hated to see you being like this. 

“Impossible. You are one of the best out there, I don’t see how you could ruin anything.” You slowly raised your eyes to look into his blue gaze, and you could see how serious he seemed to be. Tobio wasn’t the type to lie, because he was bad at it, even if it was to help someone. So you knew that he thought each one of his words. 

He kept on making compliments and stating facts about your talent and how good you were at what you were doing, and you slowly felt the anxiety fade away. While he was talking, you put your hand on his cheek before leaving a kiss on the other one. You looked at him and a soft smile appeared over your lips. 

“Thank you Tobio, you’re the best,” you said before resting your head on his shoulder once again. He felt his heart skip a beat, and a blush ran over his cheeks without you being able to see it. He simply rested his head on top of yours, trying to ease his poor heart. You really were going to kill him one day, but he loved that.

Why am I slowly slipping back to my Tsukiyama phase ? I never finished Haikyuu season 1 bc I was crying of stress everytime the crows had a match and I was exhausting myself, so it's not like I know the source material that much

It's just... I think they are so perfect for each other somehow

Also Kkumri on insta is keeping me ENTERTAINED w/ her little Haikyuu comics 🌸 (before them, there was Gusari and their IwaOi dj, true masterpieces, I don't take criticism)

Tbh most of the knowledge I have on Haikyuu comes from the fandom and you guys love to lie (you made new fans cry bc you told them daichi died fr) (and how come oikawa's knee injury is not real ?)

Anyways, I'm not a fan of the Friends to Lovers trope, but I think it's bc I read this trope only with het characters in YA novels when I was younger and it was probably executed poorly. However, Haikyuu gave us so many friends to lovers ships and you know what ? It works.

I would write an essay on how Tsukishima and Yamaguchi's dynamic compliment each other but my head is empty and I don't know how to think (it happens a lot, I should learn how to talk about romantic dynamics bc my poor aroace ass is struggling)

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE GUESS WHO FINISHED SEASON 3 LAST NIGHT

AND LET ME TELL YOU, BABE. THIS SEASON WAS A WHOLE ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS.

I'm gonna go down in order of the episodes, I guess. Alright, FROM THE TOP!

...Right after the cut because god knows I have a lot to say

In case you hadn't noticed in my past few posts, I like Daisuga a lot. That being said, Michimiya's whole crush on Daichi is not only adorable, but very relatable. Like, Daichi is such a sweetheart. How could you not have a crush on him? Michimiya giving him the little good luck charm before the game was pretty cute. Anyway, back to the regularly programmed homosexuality-

Actually, scratch that. We love to see Nishinoya and Tanaka chanting "do it for the babes" and screaming in the middle of the hallway. My dudes, you'd get way more girls if you took a chill pill.

ALSO HINATA'S MIDDLE SCHOOL FRIENDS COMING TO WATCH HIM PLAY AND SUPPORT HIM!!!!!!! I'M GONNA CRY, YOU GUYS. Also Kageyama not remembering them lmao- "Do you remember every bug you squish?" is WILD in the context that he's comparing beating Hinata's middle school team to that. SO tactful there, Kags. AND HINATA WITH THE FINGER GUN "this is why no one likes you" COMBO. THAT IS MY SON RIGHT THERE. I LOVE HIM

Obviously it was good to see the school start to support them at the end of season 2, but the vice principal and a bunch of the student body showing up was so great to see! I had to look Shimada and Takinoue up on the Haikyuu wiki because I cannot for the life of me remember their names, though. I'm out here calling them "glasses guy" and "the blond one." But it was good to see them there to support the boys as well! As someone who was in a not very popular sport during high school, any support at all feels great, so I'm very happy for the boys. That being said, THEY WERE NOT CONFIDENT AT THE START OF THIS GAME. HALF THE TEAM LOOKS EITHER DEAD OR LIKE THEY'RE GONNA VOMIT. Hinata, Asahi, and Yamaguchi my anxious, beloved boys- Meanwhile Nishinoya and Tanaka having a girl related breakdown. Oh and the Shiratorizawa crowd was wild. It was just bigger than Karasuno's, for one, but they also had some fucking cheerleaders and at one point they broke into song- It was just a crazy difference. You could tell that a lot of these guys regularly went to games, unlike the Karasuno crowd who didn't know the chants very well.

AND SPEAKING OF THE CROWD: AKITERU!!!! I honestly just love Kei in general, but seeing his relationship with his big brother is one of my favorite things (that and his relationship with Yamaguchi, obviously). I loved every moment of Akiteru being on screen. His surprise that Kei might have more friends than just Tadashi, his pride in his brother's performance, and him rushing down after Kei's hand got injured- Whoa, whoa, getting ahead of myself. All that to say that Akiteru was delightful during this season and he does genuinely seem like a good big brother.

Just as a warning, you're gonna see me gush about Tendō a lot in this post because that's my boy and I love him (as if I don't say that about half the characters who appear on my screen). I screamed when he arrived.

The first set just stressed me out. Somehow I remembered that Ushiwaka was a lefty well enough that I wasn't surprised when Noya said it, but it didn't quite register in my brain when I watched the ball getting hit. We love to see Suga screaming at the team and telling them to get their heads out of their "big dumb asses." Love you so much, Suga. Keep being the team mom we all love to see. I was watching this first set and just going "they're getting absolutely steamrolled holy shit-" but eyyyy Tanaka got the first point! Shiratorizawa is a scary opponent. Obviously you have Ushiwaka and Tendō, but they're all pretty good players. Even though I already knew that Karasuno won at the end (even if I hadn't seen things from the end of the match, obviously they win since there's literally a season 4), I was still on the edge of my seat because oh, hey, this is really intense and you really sit there and wonder "how the hell are they going to win?" sometimes.

I'm glad I wrote a little note down about Yachi's mobbing metaphor because I kind of forgot about it, but that same mobbing mindset was ultimately what won Karasuno the game. Their last attack was a synchronized attack, and it overwhelmed Shiratorizawa and ultimately lost them the point and won Karasuno the game. So, yeah! Amazing metaphor, Yachi! And great foreshadowing, show!

I have seen season 4 Asahi and I just. I'm not as attached to season 4's design but it doesn't seem like many people like season 4's animation style, so I feel like I can say that. Someone has a whole analysis on what Tendō is saying (acting like Ushiwaka is going to just leave and forget about him), so I won't go into that territory, but just. I like them a lot. Shiratorizawa grew on me and I got all sad when they started crying from their loss. I'm really glad that Ushiwaka and Tendō remain friends (I've seen that "we're also best friends" panel from the manga and it fuels my life force, actually).

Girl, the chaos 4 and Takeda are fucking passed out over there. Honestly, they all deserve it but Tanaka especially. He really played his ass off for all five sets. He, Asahi, and Daichi were clearly exhausted by the end but they kept fighting (and so did everyone else, to be fair!)

OOOOH IT’S THE JUMPING THING. THE ONE WHERE THEY’RE ALL JUMPING TO MEASURE HOW HIGH EVERYONE CAN JUMP. I love that Asahi's all salty about Hinata being able to jump as high as him. We don't get salty Asahi enough.

Now she knows that was wrong and it was stupid of her to assume

Yachi immediately wishes she had the power to go back in time to before she even knew you so she could tell herself “NO! Don’t fall for this one!!!”

Tears in her eyes, she thinks it probably would’ve happened anyway

It’s hard, but she forces herself to face the other way and once she succeeds in turning, she tries to start walking away

She’s so upset she can’t get her feet to move :(

Yachi had always been guilty of crushing too hard on people, however this seemed a little excessive right now

She doesn’t even realize when you come up behind her and she certainly misses the tender, worried look you give as you notice her tears

The sound of your voice startles her out of her frozen state

“Yachi? Yachi, what’s wrong?”

Let it be known Yachi Hitoka is not a brave soul; she runs from fights and hides when things overwhelm her

That being said, she had her brave moments

And apparently this was one of them

She says your name and takes a shuddering breath-

And ends up shouting, “I like you!”

She’s so embarrassed by her outburst that she starts completely sobbing

….maybe the tears are also from the fact that she knows you don’t like her back

Except you’re cupping her face and starting to laugh at the shocked, snotty face looking back

“Yachi,” you say slowly, letting yourself enjoy the way Yachi’s eyes watch you

“I like you too. And if you weren’t covered in so much snot, I’d kiss you.”

Completely shell shocked, starts stuttering right away in disbelief. “W-w-what do you mean? I j-just heard you say you were d-d-dat-ting your friend?”

“What? When did I-

You stop and think back to not even two minutes ago when you had indeed been messing around with a friend. “oh.”

You move your hands down till Yachi’s and yours are interlocked and apologize

“I’m so sorry for upsetting you Yachi, I was joking around with her and I really didn’t mean it.. can you forgive me for hurting you?”

Yachi sniffles and says to your surprise, “how do you know I’m crying because of that?”

You can’t help the laughter you both burst out into

And then Yachi has one more brave moment as she kisses your cheek

Alisa is used to acting

She’s in the modeling industry after all and she’s had more then her fair share of days where all she wanted to do was yell and make a mess of things but she didn’t, instead smiling and greeting people politely

Hearing you say you were dating the handsome model she had worked with on several occasions before, brought out an ugly anger she found she didn’t want to hold back and wasn’t sure she could act away

Alisa had been aware of your closeness to the model, she had been the one to introduce you two

She hadn’t realized that the relationship you shared with him, could morph into something romantic

Finding out now, after you had already apparently been going out, made her blood boil

It wasn’t fair in the slightest! She hadn’t gotten to confess, she hadn’t thought she needed to until she had figured out the way to tell you her feelings

You were perfect for each other, at least in her opinion! And you’d practically been dating!! How could this have happened?

She didn’t know, you hadn’t even hinted at liking the man and that made her even more pissed off at you and him

She probably could’ve avoided the situation she was about to put you all in, if she had payed attention to the way the man had rolled his eyes and said after a few seconds that he wouldn’t date you

But Alisa wasn’t paying attention to what you were saying anymore, having turned her focus to what she would tell you dating a model was like and how it was a horrible idea if it wasn’t her

So she did what she figured was a very friendly, friend-ish thing to do, (and she was a friend right?) and told you all about the horrors of dating a model

Both you and the man you’d been joking with have your jaws dropped to the floor as you listen to Alisa shit talk the man next to you and inadvertently, herself as well…

You consider interjecting, though you don’t think you could even if you wanted to as you listen to Alisa heatedly tell you about plastic surgery and weight problems in the industry

“And anyway, now that you know that dirty habit most models participate in,” at this she pauses and glares at the man beside you. “I’m sure you’d love to know what models do to force romance on relationships that aren’t romantic? Yeah? I think you would, so listen up closely, this one will be hitting home I believe,”

At that, someone finally intervenes

It’s the handsome model you’re “dating” excusing himself to the bathroom

…

You supposed that was fair

And you supposed you knew what this was about now that Alisa had brought up romance

“Alisa, babe.. are you upset about my joke with Jay? Because I didn’t mean it, obviously I didn’t when we’re dating.”

“Yes I’m mad about Jay and your relationship I-

She stops and stares at you, as what you said sinks in

“Sweetheart,” she starts, unsure and a little excited at the same time. “What do you mean we’re dating?”

Now you’re staring

“Uhm? Aren’t we?” You ask a little stupidly

In your defense Alisa had quite literally just called you sweetheart and you could recall five separate times she’d said she loved you?? And you’d said it back??? Sooo

Alisa can’t believe her luck, she’s so happy she doesn’t care she just told you a multitude of terrible things models do and that she was mad enough to do it in the first place

All that matters as she smiles, and wraps you in her arms is how you care about her the way she does you and she tells you now for the sixth time, that she loves you <3

Kageyama Miwa

Conflicting upon conflicting emotions as she hears you say with a cheeky smile you’re excited for your date later

On the one hand, she likes the happy expression on your face, on the other you’re talking to someone she’s never met

From an outsiders perspective it looks like she ate something sour and that’s why she’s making such a scrunched face

In the end, her reaction smooths out into a slightly disgruntled look as she decides to walk away and pretend she heard nothing

A good portion of her figures if she ignores this, it won’t be real

This doesn’t end up working too well when she starts to religiously avoid you along with the news of you dating someone else

She doesn’t even know why it’s bothering her so much

Miwa supposes her slight crush could have something to do with it…

But she’d never once stopped to consider dating you, so she didn’t know why someone else dating you would bother her so much

I mean.. you still had the same relationship, right?

Not with her avoiding you and looking sour every time she caught a glimpse of you. It was hard to acknowledge she didn’t have your friendship anymore

And now she couldn’t stop thinking about how much she missed spending her time with you, and she hates the way she’s been handling her feelings >:(

UhhhgggghhhHHH! She just wants to be around you again, regardless of your feelings toward her

It’s time, she realizes, time to confess you’re her best friend

She’s really freaking nervous going up to you the next time she sees you

There was a brief consideration to text you and say what she wanted the easy way, but then it wasn’t easy at all trying to come up with something to tell you and she figured it would go better if she said in person anyway

You’re shocked, seeing Miwa want to talk, after days of her looking miserable and running away when she so much as saw you

Truth be told, you’re mad at the woman for ignoring you

You still let her talk though, since you miss her voice

“Hi,” she starts.

You wait

She opens her mouth to continue

And shuts it again

You’re left staring at each other like 👁👁

You decide you’re mad again, “Miwa, what do you want from me?” When she doesn’t respond you continue. “I seriously can’t believe you’re ignoring me again! Can’t you just tell me what’s wrong?”

You stomp your foot in frustration and Miwa thinks it’s pretty cute, and now she’s embarrassed for thinking that when you’re dating someone else

She finally speaks, “I want us to still be friends..”

“What?” You seriously don’t understand

She continues with a frown. “I want us to be friends even though you’re dating someone else.”

“Miwa I’m what?” You ask incredulously

“You’re dating someone.” She says it as if it’s a fact

“I’m not.” You respond as if it’s a fact, and it is

“���what?”

“That’s what I should be saying!” You’re confused, and you just wanna know whats wrong with Miwa

“Do you want to date someone?”

You startle at this and turn to find eyes staring intensely at you

“I-I guess it depends on the person,” you say, feeling shy at your friend’s sudden curiosity

“Would you want to date me?”

You sputter, understanding lighting you on fire

“You can say no as long as we’re still friends,” she adds, almost as an afterthought

You finally regain enough composure to say yes

Miwa’s so glad she gets to be the one to date you, she doesn’t hesitate to kiss you right away <3

Kanoka Amanai

Hears you say in your joking around voice that you’re going to kiss your girlfriend, and sees that it’s directed at a friend who she thought was dating someone else

She’s automatically unsure how she should take this information

You seemed like you were kidding, and yet the word “girlfriend” echoes in her head

And with her anxious thoughts taking over, she’s inclined to believe you are being serious, as silly as that may seem if she explained the situation out loud

Kanoka didn’t know whether you were actually dating or into that girl, she really had no idea what your feelings were at all

What she did know was that she had bad luck when it came to romance

No matter who she liked it never ended the way she hoped it would-

With them dating

Some had become lifelong friends and others had distanced themselves afterwards, one can’t help excepting the fate of no romance after so many rejections though

So Kanoka, heart hurting, resigns herself to the revelation

There’s always next time

Except..

She doesn’t want there to be a next time

She knew it was wrong to like people so much when it had never once ended well, yet she just couldn’t tell her heart to listen to logic when her feelings for you were in question >:/

Kanoka doesn’t hesitate

“I want to go out with you,” she says. “I want to go on dates and kiss you and tell you I love you! I want you to look at me and I want to look back, and I need you to tell me if you’re dating that girl.”

She’s pointing back at the group, at your friend who you’d been joking with a few minutes ago

You barely register it through your shock, you were not expecting a confession

Least of all such a big, sweet one

You want to tell your friend that yes! You want to date her but you’re stuck frozen so long, her face starts to twist and you can see the confidence in Kanoka fade

She looks terrified by the time you open your mouth, having worked out what to say

“Kanoka, I would never date Luce, and I’m not sure if you noticed but,” you smile, closing the distance between you two. “I’m already looking at you.”

They panicked, alright?

Yukie keeps panicking for days afterward

She wants you to tell her about your relationship so she can get over you

But you act like you would normally and don’t mention anything about your partner, and it’s not helping her get over you at all???

In the end, she decides she needs to kill you and dispose of your body

Kidding! She’s kidding!! She does scare Bokuto with that suggestion when she says it with a straight face though

Yukie’s pretty tired of dancing around her feelings at this point

She decides to tell you the next time you’re alone together

Which takes way too long for her liking

Her opportunity finally comes after a couple more weeks, when she and you walk home together after a hangout with friends at a park

She seriously looks indifferent as she turns to you, the moment other people are out of the way and says, “I like you, and it’s in a romantic way.”

Like damn ok

You take a second to stop, and then keep moving when you see Yukie is marching onwards

You respond as you reach her side

“I like you too!”

You’re happy, big grin stretching across your face and Yukie is very confused

“..did you not hear me say romantically? Or did you break up with your partner?”

The last bit makes you hesitate before you say you heard her and you don’t know what she means by breakup

“That friend you were dating, the one that you carried-

Did you break up?”

“We were never dating!” You shout, without thinking of the people within earshot

“We’ve joked a couple times, but I don’t actually like them and we’ve always made it clear we’re kidding!”

Yukie doesn’t get flustered easily, however she’s beet red as you yell

And she gets even more embarrassed when you ask if she wants to date

She wishes she’d paid more attention

She’s wishes BOKUTO had paid more attention

And Yukie wishes she could have been dating you two weeks sooner as she tells you yes, she wants to start dating

Who do you think loves building miniatures in Haikyuu?

Tbh i had to look up what this was cuz I had no idea LOL

But it’s those little DIY building kits!! Those look so fun! There’s like houses and cafes and little nooks for your bookshelf. They kinda remind me of Legos but a lot more detailed. I imagine they’re very relaxing to put together.

Anyway, a few characters did come to mind that I think would enjoy building miniatures :3

First up is Akaashi. We all know our favorite literature major has a mountain of books and what better way to organize them then with some book nook miniatures? It’s relaxing for him to put together and quiets the rush of thoughts that usually flood his mind. Fidgety hands begone! Although he puts them together pretty fast…

EEEEE I JUST LOOKED UP A BUNCH. HE WOULD TOTALLY HAVE AN ALICE IN WONDERLAND THEMED ONE. And I can see him having the one with cherry blossoms and a train in it. Bokuto probably saw them and got interested too. They tried to build one together once. Bokuto’s hands were not very steady lol and he kept losing the smaller pieces. It’s okay tho, he likes watching Akaashi put them together instead.

I can also see Asahi and Yachi liking them. The Karasuno artists✨ Asahi doesn’t like buying them for himself but when Yachi finds out he likes them too, they buy the same one and do it together.

It becomes a whole thing with Karasuno. On days off, they chill at one of the third years’ house and try to help Yachi and Asahi with them. The Single Braincell Squad™️ (Tanaka, Noya, Kags, Hina) don’t find it that interesting. Hinata would be curious but ultimately would be kicked outside with the rest to work off excess energy lmao

Finally, we have the man, the myth, the legend himself Kita. Just try and convince me that Mr. “Being Meticulous and Thorough Just Feels Good” would not enjoy putting together a tiny doll house. YOU CAN’T CUZ HE WOULD!!

Holy crap, I just saw one of a Japanese courtyard. It’s a yaquan courtyard? It looks so cool, we’re giving Kita this one HEHEH

It was actually a gift for his grandmother but she can’t do it by herself. She’s gotta call her beloved grandson to help her out and of course he’s gonna agree cuz why wouldn’t he. This gets added to their ritual. Every day after dinner and cleanup, they take some time to work on the miniature together. This image makes me incredibly soft brb I’m gonna cry.

Honorable mentions: Aone (I have no explanation, it just feels right), Sakusa (the completionist), and Kiryuu (the final member of the anxiety club)

so i’ve had a night to sleep on it and a full day of work and i still feel fucking deranged. so. thoughts on the haikyuu movie (*SPOILERS* + long post under the cut):

ok general impressions first—

oh my god it was so good. i’m inconsolable. it was really really good.

i was so strong and normal in the public movie theater until the start of the third set.

at which point i started trembling violently.

which turned to silent crying at the last like five points until the end of the movie.

i’m so sorry to the one other guy sitting in my row.

Anyways. i know we were all apprehensive abt it being a movie but i think it actually worked really well

pacing was good and iirc they managed to fit almost everything in there, which. is very impressive

plus the experience of getting to watch this game all at once in a theater was really fun

HUGEEEE props to the sound editing team oh my god. i could FEEL every spike in my chest and every breath was tangible and the cheering sections were phenomenally mixed and the squeaking of sneakers on the floor throughout….and then the CRAZY moments of pure silence…….man.

AND THE SOUNDTRACK. THE MUSIC. THE MUSICCCCCCC. there is one thing haikyuu will never do and that is miss with the music. oh my god even just the OPENING had me shaking. the music added SO MUCH and was SO well done.

the animation in general was REALLY good. especially that final point of the game which i will mention more later bc man. god. the animation was REALLY GOOD.

the characters were all so well done. like yeah ofc but. they were so good.

i walked in with an already deep love for nekoma and i walked out feeling like my heart had burst with how much love i have for them

kuroo and kenma in particular were REALLY good. there was a good amnt of childhood kuroken and when i tell you i was sobbing for half of it…

also very good was tsukishima!! he’s not one of my faves usually but he had me silently screaming in the movie theater during this game

and OF COURSE hinata. how could i not mention him. he was done so well. i watched it dubbed and the voice acting was VERY good.

no fukurodani game so. Sad. but also i do think if they had put that in there it would have broken the tension in a bad way, so i’m not actually upset about it. praying for an ova or smth

overall good blend of memory/flashback and realtime gameplay

re: flashbacks--a lot of them were to childhood kuroken and a lot of them were also just to training camps and scenes we've seen before but in a different pov....biting down on things rn

re: gameplay--saw some review that was like "gah they expect you to care about the characters/teams already and dont tell you who to root for" bitch YEAH and that's the POINT ! so yeah. if you care about the characters already and love both teams. *chef's kiss*

besides that they did NOT pull ANY punches. the game is REAL from the FIRST whistle, maybe only 10-15 minutes in

which like. that was the only way to do it. and they did not fucking hesitate

some stand out moments for me, in no particular order—

oh my god the last point was done BEAUTIFULLY. it’s already such an insane way to end the game and i swear the movie was just as insane.

they did the last few minutes of the game through kenma’s eyes, so you’re seeing his pov of the court and the ball, and that glimpse of the practice match moment, until the ball slips and it cuts to his eyes. oh my god. i went crazy i went crazy i am STILL going CRAZY.

kenma falling down and “that was fun” going into kuroo’s laugh……………changed LIVES !!!!!!

similarly, kenma’s last speech of the game oh my god oh my god oh my god

we KNEW it was one of my favorite speeches in any manga ever but they genuinely did it justice. the cuts between shots of the court and kuroo inviting kenma to play volleyball and kenma following him out the door and leaving behind a video game controller and a volleyball magazine……what if i went crazy forever and ever and ever !!!!!!!!

ALL of the childhood kuroken moments…..literally feeling deranged about them

TSUKISHIMA SOMETIMES ITS ACTUALLY FUN !!!!!!

everything about tsukishima and kuroo’s banter across the net was incredible

all of the little glimpses and montages they had to training camps and practices outside of actually playing, when they were just hanging out……sir im crying !!!!

they all reminded me a lot of the special one shot where kai has that moment of reflection on his volleyball career but all that came to mind were the breaks where he was hanging out with his friends…..i’m gonna cry thinking abt it.

i'll also never forget "A Carcass" by Charles Baudelaire from when we read it at school years ago and then again in high school and i have now chosen Les Fleurs du mal as one of the books for my oral school leaving exam, so it's definitely one of those authors i read once and was never able to get out of my head

and last but not least, Louise Glück (may she rest in peace) and her "Theory of Memory" which includes the ending "Right now you are a child holding hands with a fortune-teller. All the rest is hypothesis and dream." and i simply don't have a choice but to love this one

I used to live in the past, excused people for thing they do now because they were different in the past. they were different in my memories. I was so focused on the past i forgot to enjoy my present. I am done doing that. My memories hold me back. I am tired of it.

this is pretty self explanatory. i dont think I've had a hard life. but i certainly haven't had an easy one. i have a habit of giving too much of myself to people. I'm working on rectifying that whilst still being kind.

I LOVE people watching its one of my favourite songs. but this line is really important to me. I've cut the tags off of my clothing for as long as I can remember. ever since i was a kid. I also have a habit of cutting out people the second they break my trust. as easy as cutting off tags from my clothing. I don't think its a good habit or a bad habit. it just. is.

This is from one of my favourite books of all time. I was a quiet child for a while. I never got excited for anything and after a while my parents suspected I had childhood depression, we still don't know for sure if I did. It makes a lot of sense though. I analyzed this poem for an English Lit class and the story behind why it was written really stuck with me. It was written after the death of Valencia Majombozi who was shot on the day of her graduation from nursing school. Its a protest poem and it just hits really fucking hard.

Death of a Naturalist by Seamus Heaney

This was the first poem that i ever took inspiration from. I had of course written before, but I really enjoyed Heaney's writing style so it strongly influenced my poem Quietude, which I am planning to submit to the empty inkwell publication...hopefully lol

Identity Card by Mahmoud Darwish

This poem is written as a form of protest poetry as well. Mahmoud Darwish was a Palestinian poet, for those of you who do not know and he wrote this poem about being asked for his identity card by Israeli Officers. Its really, really good.

Storm here! 🌩 Tysm for the tag @27-royal-teas! <3 I haven't done a tumblr meme thing in forever! And I don't really have any friends on this blog so I don't have anyone to tag, but if you're a writer who follows me, consider yourself tagged! (And also come be my friend)

This got long! I talk too much! Answers are below the cut!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

So I have two accounts lol, because for some reason I decided to make a separate RPF account even though I have other embarrassing things on main account anyway?? Anyway, I currently have 100 fics on my main and 5 on my RPF account.

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

Across both accounts, 379,693 words for an average of 3.6k per fic. Longfic? I don't know her.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

I usually write for one fandom at a time, but I will revisit/cycle through fandoms. Currently it's Fall Out Boy. Previously, I was writing some MCU stuff (mostly Spider-Man). Also wrote a handful of Good Omens stuff back when S1 came out. I have the most fics posted for Haikyuu (volleyball manga/anime) lol.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Oops I only have 5 fics so far on my RPF account and I'm still debating whether I want this account directly linked to my main.

But I will take this opportunity to tell anyone who needs it not to put too much stock into kudos!! Kudos count relies on a lot of factors, but a big two are fandom/ship size and when you post the fic relative to the height of the fandom's activity. (Getting in early with a fic right after a new movie/season/etc. comes out so you're one of the first fics for the New Thing can be huge too.)

External validation is obviously very nice but if you rely too much on it, you're not gonna have a good time.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Comments make my entire life and I always want to respond to them, but I inevitably fall off because the brain energy isn't there, and I keep putting it off, and putting it off, and putting it off, and then it feels too late. But seeing as I only have 5 fics on my RPF account, I recently went and responded to everything, even if it was years late. In the past few weeks I've actually gotten responses to some comments I left on fics like 3 years ago so it inspired me, haha.

I myself am not always good at leaving comments (continuous goal to get better at it), so I really appreciate the people who take the time to leave kind comments for me and I want to express that appreciation.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't usually write angsty fic... I'm too softhearted. That said, I have made a few forays into angst, but Your Mileage May Vary on which one is the angstiest. Is it the major character death? Is it the one where they're soulmates with the last words they'll say to each other written on their skin, and in the end it's not death that separates them, but their own inability to have a functional relationship with each other?

Or is it the one I didn't even think was super angsty and tagged "bittersweet ending" but then it made a bunch of people cry? I'm still like "...my bad" about that one lmao.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Fluff is my lifeblood and almost all of my fics have a happy ending. I couldn't tell you which was the happiest, haha. Again, I'm incredibly softhearted, and also a big sap. I cannot deny this!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Thinking very hard... I have been posting fic for............. several years so it is possible I am forgetting something but nothing comes to mind! I have always felt too relatively unknown for haters, which is just fine by me.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

"What kind" lol. What does that even mean. Listen, my kink is holding hands during sex and being ❤️ in love ❤️ (I mentioned I'm a softhearted sap, right??)

Sometimes I might explore some light kink but nothing too hardcore imo.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Again, I've been writing/posting fic for several years, so I could be forgetting something, but I don't remember ever writing a true crossover. Though in my personal definition of fandom terms, crossover = characters from fandom A meet characters from fandom B. I have written a few fusion AUs in my time (characters from fandom A existing in the world of fandom B), which you could say falls under the crossover umbrella. For example, I've written Kingdom Hearts characters in a Pacific Rim AU and Haikyuu characters in Dragon Age AU.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of. Though I did once see (this was a SUPER long time ago) someone repost my fic on tumblr the same day I posted it on FFN, even though I also posted the full text of the fic on tumblr myself. They credited my FFN account, at least, but like. Hey. Don't do that.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes, I've had some fics translated into various languages! It's definitely an honor that people want to share some of my stuff in other languages and take the time to do that translation work. I try to ask people keep translations on AO3 but it hasn't always succeeded so there are some translations of my works floating around on foreign language fic sites... Ah well.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I successfully co-wrote one (1) fic with one of my friends years ago. I've tried a few other times to co-write fics (including with the same person) but none of them ever finished... Co-writing fic is hard! Idk how to do it effectively. I've done a handful of fic/art collabs with my wife though!

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

I don't know that I have a single all-time favorite ship, but Peterick is definitely the current fave. I........ adore them. So much.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Listen, I am a hoarder of WIPs and a clinger to delusions that they will one day be finished. But okay, one of my peterick WIPs from 2016-2017 that I really liked but highly doubt I'll ever finish is a no-band, dating show AU where Pete is the eligible bachelor on a queer offshoot of the Bachelor/Bachelorette and Patrick (through machinations by Joe) ends up as a contestant on the show. Patrick is camera shy and does not want to be there, but he made a deal with Joe to stay til he was eliminated. Pete, who just went through a public and messy divorce with Ashlee, does not want to be there, but he was guilt-tripped into using his moderate fame to help bring viewership to the underfunded little queer show.

Pete finds out Patrick never wanted to be there in the first place and offers to eliminate Patrick. I will copy/paste the next bit from my gdoc:

"[...] pete’s like what if…i didn’t eliminate you and we just stayed friends and hung out and stuff and patrick finds himself agreeing bc pete’s a really nice dude and they have a lot of interests in common

But then Patrick keeps sticking around through the weeks and Patrick and Pete fall in love and both end up having separate private crises because they agreed to be friends. Patrick sees Pete spending time with other candidates and clearly being attracted to them and it sucks because now Patrick is in love with Pete and Pete isn’t considering him at all. Meanwhile Pete is having a good time with the other candidates and sure there’s lust there and even some like but he can’t stop thinking about how perfect Patrick is for him except for oh wait Patrick doesn’t even want to BE here and Pete was the one who convinced him to stay and now he’s fucking in love with him."

Blah blah blah, stuff happens, Pete eliminates Patrick in the last few weeks then when he has to make the choice between the final two candidates, calls Patrick and confesses to him instead, blah blah blah, happy ending.

Anyway. I wrote 11k of that fic and I was about 1/3 of the way through. It will never be finished. But now I've told you all about it and that's good enough, right?

16. What are your writing strengths?

Internal narration and emotions. Tightly focused fics that span 1-3 scenes. Spelling and grammar.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Longfic or fic with several scenes that take place over an extended stretch of time. Related to that, coming up with external plot events rather than just internal conflict HAHA. Describing the setting/environment so the characters don't just exist in a nebulous empty space.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

As with most of my preferences re: fic, it depends on the execution. It can feel clunky and maybe even cringey, or it can feel natural and realistic. Just be intentional about how you're using it. Also, it always helps if you know a fluent speaker who can review it for you but understandably you may not always have someone like that.

20. Favorite fic you’ve written?

This is impossible to answer hahahaha. Certainly if we look at my main AO3. But if we're looking at my grand total of 5 (as of yet) RPF fics, I can say that I'm still quite fond of get us right (quitters never win), a fob AU fic where everything is the same but they all have minor superpowers, featuring empath!Patrick and telepath!Pete.

Dangerous romance 7/10 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Lists I’d Put It In: So much potential, Sports, Slice of Life

Review: There is a lot of things I like about dangerous romance but the cons makes it so that I’d likely not watch it again.

Pros the actors main and side were fan fucking tastic. Perth can be so intimidating bratty sexy and on the other hand just a sweet little puppy. I love how funny he made Kang just adding flare. Chimon baby of OffGun of course I watched this show mainly for him. Sailom is basically a hop skip and jump away from Wave from the gifted Sassy Smart Secertly extremely caring and gushy. I’m hoping Chimon’s roles always involve sass it’s his signature. GIVE PAPANG AND PEPPER A BIGGER BL ROLE AND VIEWJUNE ALL OF MY MONEY. MarcPawin really surprised me as well I wasn’t expecting much because I just watched my gear your gown. The grandma was precious. Euro and JJ were great comic relief I wish there had been more of them. I wish there was more I made a post before this 12th ep saying how I’d fix the series in detail. So I’m gonna boil it down here. The ships should have been more interlocked with eachother. The editing made the show boring. Why did we have so many flashbacks and lingering shots. I love a pretty scene but they took so long and we needed extra interlocking scenes for all the ships. Ugh I can see how this show would have been great with just a few changes which makes it so frustrating. Anyways more about the ships after the break

First Perth and Chimon are not at fault for this I’m talking about editing and story. I adore KangSailom they had good potential but it felt like it got every trope imaginable enemies to lovers, poor boy rich boy, long standing unexplainable secret crush from childhood, tutor student, redemption arc, misunderstanding. AND YET IT FELT WEAK BECAUSE OF THE EDITING AND LACK OF OTHER CHARACTERS INTERACTION UNTIL THE VERY END.

I probably won’t have liked their plot too if it had been drawn out because I would have been missing the other side characters but what we got for them was perfect I’d rewatch their scenes again. I was much more impressed by MarcPawin this time I hope they get another series their kiss was thru the roof. They give me strong Sports Anime vibes made me miss Haikyuu.

Saifah and Name had the most potential to be a 10/10 ship. Papang and Pepper definitely need their flowers because the show didn’t give them a lot to work with. Their characters and storylines should have been worked in from the beginning. I wanted to want to cry for Saifah when he was taken away. I wanted to want Name to stay safe as he tried to protect Sailom and Saifah. But I felt like it was so rushed. We barely got to see what these characters had. But everything we did was leaning towards greatness a big brother who has done wrong in the past to get by trying to do ANYTHING for his brother even tho he’s in over his head and a bit of an idiot and mafia guy who sees his highschool friend again falls in love but is offered shit choices all around to his enviable conclusion and redemption. If only we had gotten them sooner and worked into Sailom’s plot more. I’m telling you it would have been stunning. I can see the vision.

I really love Pimfah. She is… a great female character. I talked about it already but great lesbian energy. I wish I had more. I wish Pimfah could have been worked more smoothly into Kang’s storyline after he decided to go after Sailom. The student teacher was precious. She is going to make a great teacher. I wish we got a spin off of what happens in London. But sadly the ship just didn’t have enough screen time.

I might rewatch the GuyNawa scenes again but the rest is probably a skip.

regarding my hobbies, i do ballet and modern jazz for more than fifteen years and it’s an art and sport that i am really dedicated to, creating choreographies and being kind of a scary mentor when i want to even if i like being like a big sister » so the youngest (im one of the oldest now). i also used to play tennis but outside those sports, i hate physical activities. i love manual activities such as making jewelleries, embroidery, crochet, drawing silly doodles and painting (even if i can’t wait until it is completely dry). i like reading (esp criminal novels) and love animes (my fav are haikyuu, hxh, fullmetal alchemist and bsd). id like to watch kdrama but i dont have enough time and can’t stay focused for so long anyways.

i am a sucker for light and dark academia and you’ll find me most of the time with velvet pants or oversize jeans and a pullover. finally, if i had to choose only five svt songs, it’d be 24h, home run, i don’t know, fallin’ flowers and hot.

Boy oh boy where do i even start. Honestly it's always hard to pin down my favorite characters across all the fandoms cuz I've consumed a LOT of media,but I'll try to name the current ones (warning, i am such a basic bitch this list is gonna predictable afffff. Probably.)

10. Ai Hoshino (Oshi no ko)

Ngl if you ignore most of the weird shit that happens in oshi no ko, it is such a goddamn captivating story, Ai in particular. Idk i guess i really like the idea of this "ultimate idol" who is a pathological liar (due to honestly unfortunately circumstances) having to maintain this picture perfect image, to the point where people don't even perceived her as a real person. And it's really tragic considering all she ever wanted to is to actually say "i love you" and mean it for once.

9. Killua Zoldyck (Hunter×Hunter)

Was he start of my obsession with white haired characters? Nah, but he definitely contributed. Honestly, sassy brat with a soft spot that can absolutely fuck shit up? Yeah there was no way i wouldn't have been obsessed with Killua the second he got introduced. Honestly i like Gon almost as much, but i prefer moodie baddies to sunshine characters. I would genuinely dedicate another 10 hours minimum to talk about him, but i don't think ppl will care enough to read so yeeah

8. Sunset Shimmer (MLP)

I wasn't really in the mlp fandom, so i have no idea how Sunset was perceived initially (i would assume negatively, but then again idk) so i am going off of the fact my lil sisters used to haTE on her in the first movie, but MAAAAAN I LIKED HER BITCHY SELF EVEN BACK THEN. The former star pupil of princess Celestia???? That left to another world cuz of her own hubris???? AND SHE'S PUNK ROCK???? I mean she got redeemed and joined the main six and all, but overall, probably my favorite mlp character (still mourn the bitchy attitude tho, in that regard i prefer Starlight but i digress)

7. Sans Undertale

I mean. Yeah. I already said I'm basic as fuck but like. At least i don't wanna fuck him. Anywaaay, i guess it's the air of mystery to this seemingly chill guy, who just hangs around and tells bad jokes and somehow aware of the timelines more than the rest, probably related to Gaster in some way, and maybe he's not even a monster cuz monsters don't bleed and he fucking does, what does this all mean TOBY FOX I NEED ANSWERS- and he has arguably the best fight in the entire game, so yknow. 6. Gwen Stacy (Spiderverse)

I liked her in "In to the Spiderverse" but i absolutely loved her in ATSV. Her struggles and mistakes felt so real and I'm so glad they decide to focus on her this film (the opening sequence dead ass my favorite scene in the whole movie) and explore her backstory with Peter's death and her father, it's just adding the depth to a character that was already great just UGH chef's kiss

5. Tooru Oikawa (Haikyuu)

God he has such a slappable face, i love him. I knew from the second when the fangirls screamed, i would either hate him or love him. Every scene he was in, he served (pun intended), he slayed and made me cry. I know decent junk of the fandom are avid Oikawa haters but they can honestly suck my dic-

AND i am also weak for mentor apprentice trops (Atsushi/Dazai shippers back off, i bite and definitely have rabies)

3. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Speaking of my obsession with white haired guys. Yeah, I'm not sure what can i even say that haven't been said abt this guy and reasons to love him (fuck u gege) honestly will i ever stop loving side characters who are often silly mentor figures, with lots of baggage, a gay rival and too much angst? Maomao is what happens when you write a good no, GREAT female character without the whole anime bs. Like???? She has her own strength and weaknesses and she doesn't need to be physically strong (full offense, marvel) or be "not like the other girls" to be great.

1. Kaveh (Genshin impact)

So uhhhh, you can really blame Will Stetson for this one. I genuinely couldn't have cared less about genshin or this random blond if it wasn't for "Writing on the Wall". It started with a banger ass song, and ended with arguably my favorite character in all of media ever. I think one of my favorite things abt Kaveh, is that compared to some of the other characters in genshin, he's really just a guy. Like bro missed the entire archon quest, mfka was just minding his own business. He is tortured architect and honestly bro has taken so many Ls in life it's kinda crazy. And well the fact that he has "a roommate" just adds more to him. Gay rival and all

I researched and wrote a five page paper in the span of about four hours today and that was the last thing I had to do because my acting professor cancelled our final meeting (he cancelled a lot this semester so I am not surprised...)

ANYWAY! I got through to episode 17! So let's talk about some stuff.

Kageyama is the least subtle guy on the team and I love him for it. Bless that socially awkward boy. I kind of love that he can acknowledge that Oikawa is good (because he is) but he's not letting it get him down anymore. YOU'RE DOING GREAT, SWEETIE!

Tsukki!!!! First of all, top tier comedy of him hitting Hinata's diarrhea pressure point and then just walking away. Hina's probably fine. I also love that he actually took Akiteru up on his offer! You can clearly see that this is great practice for Tsukki and it's very satisfying to watch him grow. Also, good old sibling bonding! It's what I live for!

I know I just saw them literally yesterday but IT'S NEKOMA AND FUKURODANI! MY OTHER BOYS! I'm glad that they're consistently scattered in throughout the show. They're all so great and have such nice relationship with the Karasuno boys that it would be a shame if we only got to see them during things like the training camp or official games. ALSO NOT KUROO AND DAICHI BREAKING MY HEART WITH THE "the dumpster battle is the last chance for us" THING. DON'T FUCKING REMIND ME, KUROO! I'VE LITERALLY ALREADY WATCHED YOUR DUMPSTER BATTLE AND IT MADE ME EMOTIONAL! DO YOU WANT ME TO CRY AGAIN, KUROO?

I enjoy training montages very much and I was really excited to see Yamaguchi seemingly pull off a serve against Nishinoya. I can't wait to see him successfully jump float serve in an official game. I'm going to have to take a lap around whatever room I'm in when that happens.

YES I DID SPEND TWO MORE EPISODES BEING THIRSTY FOR TERUSHIMA. I SAW HIM AND WENT "oh my god it's the sexy guy." Spent the entire Karasuno/Johzenji match kicking my feet twirling my hair every time he did something cool.

Stepping away from Terushima for a minute- THE BATHROOM SCENE. H E L P. I'D SEEN IT BEFORE BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THIS SOON IN THE SERIES. SOMEONE SAVE HINATA LMAO. I like Iwaizumi a lot, honestly. One of the people who will call Oikawa on his bullshit and who can actually get through to him. Also AONE! MY BIG QUIET BABY! I LOVE HIM! I LOVE HIM MUCHO (oh by the way I got a 57% on my Spanish final lol).

I like Tsukki's new glasses! I like them even more because 1. Akiteru gave them to him and 2. because apparently he's had them a while and Hinata's been consistently complimenting them every day. Underrated hilarious duo.

So, back on the Karasuno/Johzenji match. That was a fun one. You never really doubt that Karasuno is going to win (even if you don't already know the spoilers), but it's still an entertaining match. I have massive respect for Johzenji's manager! She whipped them into shape better than their coach could! And I'm really glad that by the end of the game, they realized her value and gave her the appreciation and thanks she deserved. They also had some wild plays during the game and those were fun. Their failed attempt at a synchronized attack at the end of the first set had me rolling. And I enjoyed seeing Karasuno use their whole arsenal of weapons against Johzenji! I knew nothing about volleyball (other than the basic stuff they teach you in P.E.) prior to watching this show but now I'm invested. I perk up every time volleyball is on at the gym.

FANTASTIC BLOCK, KAGEYAMA. NO NOTES. WELL, ONE TINY NOTE: DON'T BLOCK WITH YOUR FACE. In all seriousness, poor baby. I'm always glad to see Suga get to play, though! And I love that Yamaguchi was the one who shoved Kageyama away from the game so that he could get his nose checked out.

Daichi is a fantastic captain. You see that a lot, but it was really highlighted in the Johzenji match and it's been like that so far in the Wakutani match as well. I WONDER WHAT THE TEAM WILL DO WITHOUT HIM NOW THAT HE'S FUCKING DEAD-

Yachi remains a flaming homosexual (I see you looking at Saeko's boobs, girl) and I love her. This is my gay daughter, Yachi Hitoka, everyone.

THE SOUND THAT WAS MADE WHEN DAICHI COLLIDED WITH TANAKA HELP PLEASE- God, that was a terrible sound. And I know he's fine. I've seen all the "RIP dead Daichi" jokes. Daichi's only a little dead. BUT THAT ONE SHOT OF HIM JUST LAYING COMPLETELY STILL ON THE GYM FLOOR WAS NOT OKAY FOR MY MENTAL HEALTH ALRIGHT. BLOOD LITERALLY WENT COLD. THE LOOK ON EVERYONE'S FACES (barring Tanaka who is not taking this seriously) DID NOT HELP. I GOTTA WATCH THAT NEXT EPISODE BEFORE I GO HOME TOMORROW BECAUSE THE CLIFFHANGER OF DEAD DAICHI IS GOING TO KEEP ME UP TONIGHT.

Speaking of which, yes, I'm going to be heading home for break tomorrow! I've got about a month off, so I should have time to watch a lot more!
