Dani thought the worse when Soundwave walked into the medbay during her rounds with a tall, horned bot carrying a small, angular minicon in his arms, the bot cradling his head gently as he walked, the gentle sway of someone carrying a child who they wished to keep napping leaving him to take big, swinging steps.
"Cyclonus: leave him
Dani: medic
Tailgate: will adjust"
Cyclonus reluctantly left Tailgate in Dani's arms, Dani transferring him from her arms to an open berth, closing the privacy screen behind her as she took the drug addled minicon's vitals. She found a little piece of patch tape on a main energon line in his neck, the puncture clean and clotting well.
She changed the tape and took energon to set aside for the lab. Flatline wouldn't appreciate the extra work, but she knew he would need supplements to treat malnutrition. They all did.
She started an IV and set a bed alarm, still needing to finish her rounds. Luckily (or unluckily) for her, whatever Cyclonus gave Tailgate was strong, and she was considering flagging down Breakdown when he finally sputtered awake, moaning and nearly pulling out his IV in an attempt to roll onto his belly. Even with extra padding under his back and hips, laying on his back couldn't be comfortable.
"Tailgate. Tailgate! My name is Dani, I'm your nurse, I need you to stop moving, your IV is tangled -"
"Ow!"
"Tailgate, freeze." Dani pulled away the fallen IV needle, disposing of it and the used IV bag, getting out another as Tailgate flopped onto his back. She wrapped up the bleeding energon line and moved to the other arm, hoping that she wouldn't have to replace that blown energon line later and that self repair would take care of it. Tailgate winced as Dani placed the IV.
"Well, if you didn't rip it out, it wouldn't hurt. A bot named Cyclonus dropped you off."
"My conjunx? Wait, this is ... you are ... what happened?"
"The Lost Light surrendered. I'm guessing you are in the same spot I am in? Having an autobot deserter for a husband?"
"No, Cyclonus wouldn't - "
"Love you so much that he sacrificed everything to get you to safety before the inevitable Decepticon victory? Yes, and that's enough of that. Rest, I will notify Soundwave and Cyclonus. You will likely receive a job posting in the morning, most likely as janitorial staff or as a trainee nursing assistant. If you wish, I could have you discharged after my shift so we can talk. Maybe you, Cyclonus, and Blades will get along well enough to make some quality allies here. I would suggest not mentioning any prior alliances until the recruit list comes out and you know who is safe to talk to. I would also suggest sticking with me. You might find that making friends might be easier that way."
"Oh? There's more of us? Former neutrals?"
"Yes, a few. Breakdown and Knockout are two, and so am I."
"Dani, this might be too personal, but you seem... different? From the other modern bots. Excuse my bluntness, I was stuck in stasis for much of the war."
"Umm, uh, yeah. I wasn't quite ... born... cybertronian? I worked with my husband Blades, and he brought me onto the Nemesis as a human friend before Shockwave kidnapped me and changed me into ... this."
"Oh. I'm ... so sorry. That also explains the apron? And the mask on your belt? You're technically a technorganic, right?"
"Not really, I don't really have skin, but my plating is more sensitive and prone to irritation. I also tend to get cold. When off work, I tend to cover up more. My alt mode is functionally useless anyway. It's a tiny helicopter, I can't carry bots inside me like Blades or Flatline can."
"So you were human? I know that it could be a sore subject, but did you have any family? Besides Blades, of course."
"Most of my family died in the invasions, but yes, I do have sparklings." Dani took out a photo of her children, her twins that tore her internals to shreds trying to enter the world. At least, that's what it felt like. Dani still didn't believe that it was all in her head, that her body malfunctioned at such a scale that she could experience hours of agony while her twins napped in the nursery a few doors down.
That all that pain, that torture, was for nothing. That Knockout was at a loss to understand why her body reacted like that, a false labor while Blades went back and forth between soothing their children and supporting her. Dani faintly remembered holding both her children, but that feeling didn't feel real. Holding them felt like holding a doll, The pain was constant, and coming in waves -
Dani felt a tapping on her arm, the tink of metal still disconnected from the gentle touches in her mind.
"Dani, are you ok?"
"I had twins." Dani said quickly, the world not feeling real all of a sudden.
"Oh. Oh! I am so, so sorry. Sit down. You're shaking. Could you tell me about them?"
"I love them." Dani said, suddenly remembering Soundwave. "I think we should go back to the firehou- my roo- quarters. Back to my quarters. The children are still in school, and my shift ends in ten minutes. I think. What time is it?"
"Uhhh, it's the tail end of the 17th breem? There's maybe 5 clicks left of the breem, just enough time to take down this room and maybe get something from the mess?"
"Oh. I was supposed to be off work on the 16th breem. I guess we should go." Dani cleaned the patient room and took Tailgate's hand, stopping to get their rations and update Cyclonus before heading back to her quarters. Her hands shook as she popped both cubes into her children's energon warmer, a guilty pleasure that she enjoyed often. If she pushed everything aside, she could pretend she was drinking coffee with a friend, definitely not on a spaceship, definitely not married, and entirely not a mother of two who absolutely doesn't have PTSD. Nope. Definitely not.
Dani opened the door to find Soundwave with the minicon formerly known as Raf (she was too scared to ask Soundwave his name again, and Raf only spoke ancient cybex and Kaonian cybex, while the ship's crew spoke the Iacon dialect, and Dani, being a flyer, onlined with the Vos dialect in her databank.)
Raf was on the floor, playing with a microcon sparkling and her two children. Lock and Barrel play wrestled with a pink and brown sparkling, Breakdown taking a nap on her couch.
"Your brother's visiting, and so is Datamine and Soundwave."
"Oh. Uh, hi Darkmount."
Darkmount grumped, a new weld on his head and a few new fingers from a particularly feisty hunt. His right leg was in a splint.
"Br-br-Breakdown tu-told mma-me to ignore em." Miko looked up from the tangle of limbs that was herself and the twins. "He's grumpy because Dada gave him the goooood meds. Also, Tesarus is in trooooouuuuubleeeeeee! He kicked a grenade in Darkmount's face, and that made Uncle Tarn mad, so now Uncle Tarn has to pick a new Tesarus, so Lord Meggie don't crush Uncle Tarn!"
Primus above was little Miko cute.
Well, Dani wasn't too shocked that Tesarus was dead. He was shockingly stupid for being in such a high-profile group.
Breakdown got a comm, and he gathered up Miko. Soundwave left with Datamine and Darkmount too, Darkmount staring daggers at Tailgate.
Blades finally got home a few breems later, and Cyclonus dropped by to collect Tailgate. Dani couldn't so much as sit down for a few minutes before she got a comm from Soundwave.
There was an energon pulse, and an unknown human was spotted near a maintenance hatch, a faint gestalt bond being picked up on the sensors. Dani was to use her holoform and bring them to her room for questioning and possible cyber-forming.
Dani shivered and obeyed orders.
My Primus have mercy, and the human find death before the cyber metal vats.
Deep down, Dani had a sinking suspicion that the poor human might not be granted mercy.

Not seeing the point of engaging in this dead conversation any further, Jungkook curls his fingers around the purple folder still sitting on the table and picks it up, but Taehyung abruptly snatches it out of his clutch, Jungkook's eyes closing up in agitation before he snaps them open. "What the hell are you doing? Let go" he mutters between gritted teeth.
"Isn't this (y/n)'s folder that she forgot? I'll return it to her."
"Guess what? It's actually for me" Jungkook wildly snipes the folder right back into his own grip, stomping away from Taehyung in flair with a flick of his neck, his silky black bangs moodily swishing across his forehead as he does it.
"Jungkookie... wait! Hold up!"
Abruptly stopped by Taehyung while he's about to depart the cafeteria, Jungkook halts in his steps when Taehyung grapples with his shoulder, a hot puff of breath sighing out of those thin lips as he slowly turns around dawning a clear look of exasperation on his clenched face. "What?" Jungkook barks at Taehyung, who's caught up with the boy near the entrance in a flash.
"Look, I'm sorry ok? I don't want us arguing like this, especially over a girl. We've never let one come in between us before" Taehyung pleads with an unmistakable sincerity, his feathered lips nervously curving downwards even more than their usual pouty appearance.
Jungkook's annoyance eases up almost at once hearing Taehyung's earnest apology, the young one's innocence unfolding in front of his best friend in a jiffy, but he's not going to outright show off his guarded soft side so he remains cooly rooted in his spot. By simply giving Taehyung a firm nod, he confirms they're both still on good terms, the older one better at expressing his feelings as he smiles brightly in return. Taehyung doesn't press any further on the topic now, accepting Jungkook's silent action without much inquiry before he switches the subject and furthers the conversation with "So anyways, what did (y/n) give you that's in the folder?"
"Oh, we're paired up in our literature class for this stupid poetry assignment. She passed me a copy of the one she already wrote for us all by herself" Jungkook instantly replies back to Taehyung, shaking the purple file in his clutch along with his head too, like he's embarrassed by how much of an overachiever you are completing the task so ahead of the due date.
"Ah right! She actually asked me for help with the poem since literature's one of my best subjects and I aced professor Kim's class. Mind if I take a look at her work? You're anyways not really gonna open that folder are you?" Taehyung gently extends his palm out as he cheekily questions the boy, his rising curiosity certainly getting the best of him while he secretly but impatiently waits for Jungkook to respond.
"Uh ok" Jungkook finally mumbles out after some thought, although with a visible hesitation, the idea of you affectionately asking Taehyung for assistance while oppositely avoiding Jungkook's partnering company pricking his own brain no doubt, despite his strong attempt to hide this unsettling feeling in his heart.
"Thanks! I'll reach out to her and offer some guidance. Maybe that'll lift her mood up, whatever's gotten it tanked so badly" Taehyung grins as Jungkook quietly places the purple file down on his hand, both boys then walking out of the cafeteria towards their afternoon classes, Taehyung with way more energy than Jungkook, who's quite ready for a post lunch nap.
Tumblr media
You're itching to punch off those crocodile tears streaming down her evil face as she exits the familiar ornate mahogany door, her fake sniffling immediately stopping the second your fiery eyes pierce into hers. The fabricated virginal look in them fades in a flash before a devilish glint pops up all of a sudden, but you're not at all shocked seeing her demeanor change up so drastically, the way she now struts past you in her heels with absolute arrogance while looking down at you like you're nothing but vermin making you want to scream out loud in frustration. Despite wanting to curse the bitch out into oblivion and yanking her long hair right out of her scalp for stealing your poem, you bite down on your tongue and force yourself to remain seated on the bench outside dean Kim's office like you currently are, simply waiting on being called in next, which could happen any second now.
Just as your thought classically finishes, the clicking noise of the door handle catches your attention, your gaze then ripping off of the fading figure of the girl and head shifting towards Kim Seokjin, who suavely steps outside his office with a warm smile spread across his smart face. You're not sure why he looks so happy greeting you considering you've been reported to his office for a plagiarism scandal, but his calming demeanor eases you up and you're privately thankful for his welcoming gesture.
"It's nice to meet you, (y/n). I'm Kim Seokjin, the dean of this university. Please come inside and take a seat" the tall man walks a few steps forward and kindly extends his soft hand out to shake yours, which you instantly hold as you bounce up from the bench and fix the wrinkles in your uniform with a quick run of your other palm down your sides.
Taking a quiet gulp, you then follow him into his office as he pushes the door open with ease, the attractive pinewood musk scent of his cologne lightly trailing behind him before he heads towards his dark brown oak desk and sinks down in the matching vintage chair. Your eyes grow wide when you decisively take in the visual of his exquisite office, which is much larger and deeper than you'd expected, the tan walls covered in never ending shelves of large books and framed certificates of achievement. The array of cabinets and furniture are all made with expensive looking woodwork, the cushy carpet and fancy lamps prettily tucked into the room's high ceiling creating a warm cast, like you've just settled near a cozy fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa in your hands.
But you're most surprised seeing the figure of another man already sitting in a seat across from Kim Seokjin, with an empty chair next to him that you're guessing you're supposed to occupy. When you walk closer to him though, you recognize the back of his head as indeed professor Kim Namjoon's, your guess confirmed when he turns around and graces you with his double dimples. Why is everyone beaming at you like you're not just about to get expelled for plagiarism, which is an absolute banning crime in any university's rulebook?
"Well, let's begin shall we? Namjoon must've explained to you why you've been called in here today, is that right?" dean Kim smoothly delves into the conversation once you're glued to your interrogation hot seat, your head quickly nodding in agreement while you fearlessly maintain eye contact with the powerful man across from you. "Good! Can you share your side of the story then? How did you and Bomi end up submitting the same writing for your literature assignment?"
"Sir, I promise I'm the original author of this poem... I spent hours drafting it in the university library, actually right after I had seen professor Kim in his office and collected helpful literature resources from him! I can't exactly prove how she got her hands on my poem, but I have my suspicions. The only other person I had shared it with a few days before the submission date was Jeon Jungkook, who is my equal partner for this assignment. Why isn't he here? He needs to be questioned too! You've got to believe me, I would never jeopardize my academics over a serious offense like plagiarism, especially for a subject that I love so much and I want to major in!"
"Relax (y/n)... we know you didn't cheat!"
Your shaky breath halts and your chest tightens right away at those words, your eyes slowly turning from dean Kim towards professor Kim who'd delivered the comment, his large palm now resting on your shoulder in an attempt to soothe your flaring anxiety. Your shocked face now twists up in utter confusion though, your mind totally not being able to understand why you're sentenced here in the first place if they know you're innocent, and more so why the hell Jungkook hadn't been. They'd clearly interviewed Bomi before you, with absolutely no sight of the demon who'd been damned into being your companion for this assignment.
"But... so... then why have I been called in here?"
"We've got to officially set up a meeting and give you a chance to explain yourself, it's only fair. Trust me, I've been a professor long enough to spot when a student is lying though, and I can tell you're being truthful. Besides, seeing your enthusiasm towards the subject and our thoughtful discussion about poetry in my office earlier gave me a gage into your talent for writing. I'm not exactly supposed to share this info... but Bomi has failed my class before and well, how do I say this? The great quality of the work just didn't sit at par with her previous record."
"Ok then why aren't you punishing her?!" the words spill out of your trembling mouth after hearing professor Kim's response, the contrast of the comfort his explanation has provided and the rising anger now building up in your throat throwing you off of your civilized composure.
"Like you said before (y/n)... we've got no real proof to pin it against her" dean Kim sighs out loud, folding his arms together and leaning his elbows forward into his desk.
"You can get proof. Just ask Jungkook why he spitefully sold my poem off to his special friend!"
The room falls completely silent at your tiny outburst, the look of calmness on Kim Seokjin's face now fading away into a visible nervousness as he lifts his hand up and uncomfortably loosens his tie, professor Kim also awkwardly fidgeting in his seat making the cushions rustle up. "Hm we will" dean Kim then mumbles out in a clearly unconvincing way, although he's forced a smile to pop up on his plump lips in an attempt to keep up with his obvious lie.
Your head's about to blow off in steam at the thought of Jungkook walking away from all of this without a scratch to his already obnoxiously swollen ego, a nasty taste settling in your mouth by how unfair the world really is that you're cursed to live in. Even the towering dean of the school looks meek as a mouse underneath the power that the legacies' families hold over the university, all only because they have indescribable flowing money in their bank accounts yet zero honor to their famous names. Fuck this shit, you think. But keeping your mouth shut now is important as you've somehow luckily managed to avoid getting a penalty in your ambitious career, not wanting to further make things worse by bulldozing your hateful views of the boys onto the dean and the professor. Staying out of trouble is best.
The door swinging open without a knock startles all three of you sitting in the hushed office, dean Kim's face unnaturally lighting up like a Christmas tree when his hawk shaped eyes shift away from yours and lock in with the person that's just walked in. He quickly stands up in attention and strolls past you, your body turning around in curiosity to check out who he's excitedly begun greeting.
Of course... Jimin's father. You recognize the man right away since you'd already seen him in professor Jung's dance studio a couple of weeks ago, the way the vain man's running his fingers through his slicked back hair a painful reminder of how frequently his irritating son does it so often himself.
"Ah welcome in! Please take a seat! Would you like anything to drink? I can get something ordered for us!"
Ugh. You roll your eyes in annoyance and refuse to budge out of your chair after seeing the way professor Kim jumps out of his with a smile, making room for Mr. Park and ushering him to sit down in the now empty seat next to you. The rich man lets out a happy laugh while hearing the praises thrown his way, patting dean Kim's shoulder before strutting over and sitting down besides you like he's claiming his throne or something.
"And who would this young lady be? In trouble like my son Jimin frequently gets in, are you?"
"No sir. I've actually just been praised and told my work on the recent literature assignment was indeed stellar!"
Mr. Park certainly looks taken aback by your instant reply to his condescending questions, both his brows shooting up before a smile curls up on his lips, his eyes then trailing away from yours and meeting professor Kim's, who plays along with the situation you've created, much to your happiness. "Indeed a great piece of poetry written by (y/n)!" the teacher beams in response, your heart bubbling with joy when Mr. Park's expressions switch to a look of fascination.
"Well well, (y/n). Why don't you send in your resume to my office? We're looking for talented interns to join our team during the school year."
"Of course I will, sir. It was a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Park" you stretch your palm out for a handshake as you take your cue and swiftly get out of your chair, the stunned man firmly shaking yours back appearing totally impressed by your charming attitude and the way you already seem to know his influential personality without even needing an introduction.
The curated smile on your face drops flat after you've respectfully excused yourself and turned around to leave the room, an ugly sense of victory brimming in your heart as you leave the scene and shut the door closed. After the eye opening experience you've just had, you're not going to let go of a chance at a fulfilling opportunity that's literally walked into your life, no matter how much Mr. Park's existence bothers you. It's a cut throat world and now that you have a better understanding of how this university works, nuzzling your way into the good graces of the mighty people running the show just might be the edge you need to get past your schooling years here, even though you hate the idea of it all.
Letting out a long sigh from you mouth, you fill your lungs up with a fresh deep breath of air after exiting the suffocating staff building, your feet then following the usual path to your dorm room as the thought of just laying in bed and watching a fun drama seems so relaxing to you right about now. But the horror strikes when your eyes fall on Bomi cuddled up in Jungkook's arms by the corner of the stairs that you need to take to reach your destination, your entire body freezing up in place when Jungkook's big eyes suddenly lock in with yours. Your palms clench into fists at the cozy sight of them together like that, the fury surging through your veins with a blast forcing you to turn around and redirect your route to just about anywhere but that very location.
"(y/n)! Wait!"
Your pace speeds up even more when you hear Jungkook's voice calling out to you from behind, the need to want to get away from him making you almost break out in a run, but he catches up to you with ease. His palm tightly coils over your shoulder to forcefully stop you in your step when you reach the end of a hallway in the nearest building you'd slipped inside, in a dire attempt to hide yourself from his growing figure. You slap his arm away with a tough force though, detaching his grip over you in a snap, but he stuns you by grabbing your wrist next and dragging you into an empty classroom next to where you're both standing, slamming the door shut after so you're trapped alone in there with him.
"Let go of me! What the hell are you doing?!" you yell out in a fuss, your voice booming in the hollowed out space before Jungkook slowly unleashes his tight hold over your reddening wrist.
"I need to talk to you. What happened with the dean? Are you in trouble? Bomi said you stole the poem from her but I don't believe a word she said... You'd given me the folder way before the due date and Bomi said she wrote the poem the day before the submission. How's that possible?"
"How's that possible? HOW'S THAT POSSIBLE? What the hell are you playing at when you're the one who passed her my poem to get me expelled, you disgusting fuck!"
"What? But I didn't..."
You let out a horrendous cynical laugh at that, like you're a mad woman yourself, Jungkook's doe eyes appearing disoriented while his forehead scrunches up in perplexity by this unhinged sight of you. He remains paused in astonishment, his curly black bangs messily flopped over his forehead, and if this was any other casual situation, he would've flipped them up in style about twice or thrice already. But you might as well have lost your mind at the way he's a born star at acting naive with his cute facial expressions, his entire demeanor softening up like a bunny to further press in his radical agenda of being innocent in this crazy ordeal. What a fucking joke.
"Fuck off Jeon! If you ever come near me again, I will lose against myself and assault you with another slap. Stay the hell away from me!"
Angry tears threaten to stream down your shuddering cheeks but you tensely hold them in before whipping your entire body away from Jungkook's strapping one, thudding the classroom's door open with your palms and storming out without a glance back. What you don't see is how Jungkook intensely stands there for many passing minutes, deep in thought than ever trying to connect the jumbled up dots together.
But his now somber visage cracks open with the speed of light when the unbelievable realization hits him like a damn truck. A impulsiveness then taking over his cast, he treads out of the classroom with newfound purpose, only stopping when his hands crash open the door to the upperclassmen boy's dormitory that he spends a lot of his time in, his legs barraging their way inside before he yells out in a frenzy.
"What in the fucking world did you do with (y/n)'s folder, Taehyung hyung?!"

Aphrodite
– Goddess of love, beauty, and desire
The second Aelin stepped into Rowan’s apartment, silence ensued. With the door shut behind them, Aelin felt like his apartment had significantly shrunk in size since the last time she had been there.
Granted, everything looked the same. The blanket that was draped across his leather sectional in his living room still laid in the same spot, his television was still quietly playing a hockey game, and his laptop sat on his coffee table. Only, this time, there wasn’t a mug of coffee next to it but a nearly-empty bottle of beer.
“So,” Aelin began, just as Rowan said, “Sorry, it’s a mess.”
Aelin blinked, looking around at his pristine apartment. “This is what you consider a mess?”
Rowan looked around before chuckling, nervously. “Yeah, well, there’s….dust.”
Aelin nodded, slowly, continuing to look around. “Well, here’s your clothes,” she said, at last, holding out the bag.
“Thanks,” Rowan muttered, taking the bag from her outstretched hand before tossing it aside. “Do you…want a drink or something? I was just doing some grading.”
“Grading and drinking?” Aelin asked. “Quite the combination.”
Rowan shrugged. “Only makes the shitty papers a little bit better to read.”
“Have you read mine yet?” Aelin asked, before she could think better of it. Rowan hesitated, and Aelin shook her head. “Wow, that was an inappropriate question. Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. “You could have asked me that in class and I’d have answered it. I have.”
When he didn’t go on, Aelin cleared her throat awkwardly. “I’ve never taken a mythology course, so I don’t know much about it, save for what Disney taught me. Which apparently was all wrong, anyways.” She tucked a loose hair behind her ear and cleared her throat again. Maybe coming here was a bad idea. “But music, I do know a lot about, so Apollo seemed like a safe bet. Even if I’m sure I sounded stupid and-.”
“You didn’t,” he interrupted, leaning against the counter. “Your essay is the only one I’ve read that seemed like a real opinion piece, and not like you’re trying to blow smoke up my ass and impress me with your knowledge. This is an introduction class, remember? You aren’t supposed to be a scholar of mythology yet. I liked how honest it was.”
Aelin blinked. “Really?”
Rowan nodded, his eyes remaining on hers. It made Aelin’s heart beat a little bit faster. “Yeah, it was great. I love to hear your thoughts, and I’m excited to hear more of them.”
Aelin nodded and took a deep breath. She should have turned and walked out, told him goodbye, but she couldn’t. Her feet were glued to the floor, her heart nearly ready to beat out of her chest. Her thoughts trailed to the last time she was here, when she’d met the most abundant amount of pleasure she had ever received, and left smitten and wanting more.
From the way the light in his eyes shifted, Aelin knew that Rowan was thinking the same thing.
“I should go,” Aelin said, quietly.
“Yeah,” Rowan agreed.
Neither of them moved.
“You could’ve kept the clothes,” Rowan continued, swallowing. “You didn’t have to come all the way here.”
“I thought you’d want them back,” Aelin said, even though she wasn’t really sure that she even truly believed that.
Every second more that Rowan stared at her, and she stared back, a throbbing formed between her thighs. Rowan said, “You look better in them than I do.”
Aelin swallowed. “I should go,” she repeated.
“Do you want to go?” Rowan asked, hardly more than a whisper.
Aelin remained where she was, watching him, her chest rising and falling, rapidly, with each heavy breath she took.
She slowly shook her head, and before she could form an intelligible thought, Rowan was coming toward her, taking her waist into his hands, and claiming her mouth with his.
She melted into his touch, her hands diving into his hair, holding her against him. He wasted no time, lifting her and setting her on the counter behind her, and stepping between her legs. Aelin gently nibbled on his lip and he opened for her, his tongue sweeping into her mouth just as hers did the same. His hands were still sitting on her waist, but hers were less than idle.
Finding the hem of his shirt, her fingers ran over the abdomen muscles she couldn’t get out of her head. He pulled his lips from hers as a shudder wracked through him and he let out a shaking breath.
“I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you,” he admitted, pulling her to the edge of the counter and grinding against her.
Aelin’s lashes fluttered as she let out a soft moan. “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you, either.”
His lips were on hers again, hungrily, longingly, and all conversation faded away as Aelin pulled off Rowan’s shirt and ran her hands through his messy, short silvery hair.
Rowan muttered a curse against Aelin’s mouth, and she felt a fire ignite within her core. She wanted it. Gods, she wanted it, wanted him. She knew it was wrong, knew there were boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed, knew the schools had rules, knew employers had rules, but as his mouth trailed from her lips to her neck, just beneath her jaw, Aelin had a really, really hard time caring about any of that.
His hands slid beneath her top, feeling cool and needy against her skin.
“Tell me to stop and I’ll stop,” he murmured between the kisses that trailed down her neck. She knew he would, too. One word, and it was done, over.
But, despite the rules, she begged, “Don’t fucking stop.”
That was all Rowan needed to hear. He pulled her shirt over her head, his lips immediately finding her skin again. His kisses trailed from her neck to her shoulder and he pushed the strap of her bra down. His hand did the same with the other and as soon as the straps were free, he reached behind her and unclasped it.
Dropping his head, his mouth closed around her nipple and his tongue circled the sensitive peak. Aelin’s moan was louder than she meant for it to be, but Rowan didn’t try to stifle it. Instead his hand found her breast, rolling her other nipple between his fingers.
Aelin swore, and it had Rowan moaning, muffled, palming her breast as his teeth tugged on her nipple as his free hand made its way into the back of her leggings.
When he realized that she wore no panties, he was about to combust.
Aelin’s hands dove into his hair and she pulled his head back. “I need you. Now.”
Rowan’s only response was finding Aelin’s mouth again with his own, and shoving his sweatpants down onto the kitchen floor. His hard length was on perfect display inside of his boxer-briefs. When Aelin palmed him, he grabbed her off of the counter and carried her into the living room, dropping her down onto the couch. Before he covered his body with hers, he yanked off her leggings and tossed them aside.
He groaned as she continued to rub him through his underwear until he finally couldn’t take it anymore, needing to feel her skin on his. He intended to take them off, but only got as far as freeing his length before she wrapped her hand around him and stroked once, twice. His head fell into the crook of her neck and he did his best not to look like an inexperienced teenager, but he bucked his hips into her hands, groaning again.
This was all he’d been able to think of for the past few days, ever since he saw her in his classroom. He’d be lying if he said he hadn’t thought of taking her against every free surface in the hall, as well as in his office. He didn’t have a chance to explain that to her though, as she shifted beneath him and lined him up at her entrance.
She was all slick skin and warm, soft wetness and he pushed into her. With a breathy sigh, her head fell back, eyes rolling back, and he took advantage of her attention elsewhere to look down at where they were joined. Watching as his hips rocked into hers, he breathed her name, gripping her hip and fighting the urge to press her down into the cushions with his weight.
Aelin’s hands snaked around the back of Rowan’s neck and she pulled him against her, kissing him, urgently. Rowan pulled out slowly before thrusting himself back into her, over and over and over again, relentlessly. It felt so good, so right. He kept his pace, pushing into her harder each time, until she was screaming, his name falling from her lips continuously.
Rowan’s moan became muffled against her neck as her knees began to quiver around him. As he felt her come, he knew he wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer.
When he came, Aelin was clinging to him, still coming down from her high.
Rowan’s body fell against hers, and her body remained wrapped around his as they caught their breaths.
She was unable to stop herself from running her fingers up and down his back, even going so far as to brush them through the short hair at the nap of his neck. There was no question what he would say after he pulled out and cleaned her up.
This was a mistake.
We shouldn’t have done that.
You need to go.
Aelin wasn’t sure which it would be or if it would be some mixture of the three. All she knew is that it would hurt.
Seeing him in class every day, knowing that this connection existed between them, aside from just sex, was going to hurt.
Pulling back, his green eyes found hers and she braced herself for him to ask her to leave.
But then he kissed her again.
“I was going to order dinner,” he said, lips still brushing hers. “If you want to stay.”
Aelin hesitated, but not because she didn’t want to stay.
Rowan picked up on it, though. “Or, if you don’t want to…” he began, pushing himself up off of her.
Aelin shook her head and held onto him, pulling him back down on top of her. “No, it’s not that, it’s the opposite.” She laughed, quietly. “I was just…preparing myself for you to say…anything but that.”
Rowan’s eyes softened as he nodded, slowly. “So…you do want to stay, then?”
Aelin brushed his damp hair off of his forehead. “Am I allowed to stay?”
“Right now, what we’re allowed to do is the last thing on my mind,” Rowan breathed, leaning down to kiss her softly. “Right now, all I’m thinking about is ordering dinner and having you here with me.”
She nodded, smiling softly. “That sounds nice.”
“Okay,” he replied, returning her smile. “Stay here. I’ll be back.”
“Okay.”
Just as he did the last time, he returned with a warm rag, wiping her off and cleaning her up. He also returned with his shirt, the one she’d intended to return, rather than her clothes.
“I’m on the pill, by the way,” she said, glancing over at him as he pulled his own sweatpants back on.
He blinked once, as if he’d just realized they hadn’t used a condom.
And he’d come inside her.
“I…really should have asked before I just assumed.” He rubbed at the back of his neck again. “I’m sorry.”
Aelin chuckled, quietly. “Don’t worry. If I wasn’t prepared, I wouldn’t have let you inside of me to begin with.”
“Fair enough,” Rowan said, sitting next to her on the couch. “In my defense, our last…encounter is still a little fuzzy when it comes to the little details.”
When they’d been together last, there had been a lot of alcohol…and Rowan couldn’t remember if he’d used a condom then, but he couldn’t imagine that he had.
He sent up a quick thank you to the gods for the creation of birth control.
Now, he put his arm around Aelin as he pulled up the menu to a little local Mexican restaurant a block down the road. “What’re you in the mood for?”
Aelin hummed and looked through the menu as Rowan scrolled through it. “Chimichanga. And a taco. Make it two. With a side of rice. And a bowl of queso.”
Rowan gave her an amused glance as he entered all of her requests into the cart.
“What?” She asked, huffing a laugh. “You’re the reason I worked up an appetite.”
“Fair enough,” he laughed and pressed a kiss to her temple. He ordered their food, thankful that his favorite restaurant down the road was still serving margaritas to-go, and then set his phone aside.
It was quiet for a minute and when he glanced over at Aelin, she was brushing the end of a lock of her hair over her lips.
He loosened it from her fingers and she looked over at him. “What’s on your mind?”
She shrugged. “I’m trying to figure out where we’re going from here, what we’re doing…”
She was still only wearing his shirt, her leggings and own shirt still strewn somewhere around his kitchen. He turned to face her, brushing his thumb across her cheekbone. “It’s been less than a week and I can’t get you off my mind. I’ve tried, but… I don’t want to.”
Aelin hesitated. “I feel the same way. But….your job-.”
“I’ll keep my job-.”
“And my future-.”
“I won’t ask you to do this if you don’t want to do this,” Rowan said. “I’m more than willing to keep us a secret. I just want to be with you.”
“I want to be with you, too,” Aelin breathed. “But is it really a relationship if we have to hide all the time?”
“You won’t be in school forever,” he said, taking her face into his hands. “Soon, you’ll graduate and then we won’t have to hide anymore.”
She was quiet for another moment, so he added, “You wanted to date me before you found out who I was. If you’re not interested anymore because of that, I get it—.”
“It’s not that,” she replied, leaning into his palm. “I just worry about the consequences.”
“Damn the consequences,” he murmured, leaning in to kiss her. “And we’ll be careful, to make sure nobody knows. Not a soul.”
She made a face and for a second, he got worried, but she said, “I may have gotten wine drunk on Tuesday and told my roommate. But she’s my best friend, and she wouldn’t tell anyone.”
Chuckling, he nodded. “I got whiskey drunk and told mine. So we’re even.”
That made her laugh and the sight and sound loosened the strain in his chest,
“How do we do this?” She asked, covering one of his hands with hers.
“Carefully,” he said, and kissed her, slowly. “And one day at a time.”
“I can do that,” she said, and climbed into his lap, straddling his waist.
“Me too,” he promised.
“We’ll have to lay down some ground rules,” he replied, his hands immediately finding her ass. He hadn’t forgotten she wasn’t wearing underwear. “Like minimal contact in class. We can’t seem too…familiar.”
She nodded. “That’s reasonable. And no special treatment from you. I’m still your student, whether we’re having sex or not.”
“Special treatment?” He chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, like you can’t grade my papers or exams easier because we’re sleeping together.” She was running her hands over his bare chest, following the lines of his tattoo. Her eyes met his and went wide. “Or harder. Not unless you’re willing to give extra tutor sessions.”
Rowan rolled his eyes, but leaned up, capturing her lips in a kiss. “I promise, I’ll treat you just like every other student I have. Except for the fact that we’re having sex. That is just for you.”
“So,” she mumbled, acting shy all of a sudden. Rowan thought it was adorable. “You’re saying we’re exclusive?”
Rowan’s eyes softened. “I sure as hell don’t want to be seeing anyone else.”
“Pretty sure that’s the definition of exclusive,” she said.
Rowan huffed a laugh, his fingers gripping her ass a little tighter. “Then yes, smart ass.”
Aelin’s grin widened. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
Rowan pulled her closer into him before kissing her, yet again.
He liked kissing Aelin.
He didn’t think he would ever grow tired of kissing Aelin.
“So what excuse should I give to women when they throw themselves at me?” Rowan asked. “You know, since I can’t tell anyone that you’re my girlfriend.”
She snorted. “Do women throw themselves at you often?” His raised eyebrow was enough of an answer. That and Aelin was living proof that, yes, women did throw themselves at him. Chuckling, she said, “Right. Maybe the old, generic excuse of I’m working on myself right now. Don’t really have time for a girlfriend.”
She dropped her voice an octave when she said it, doing a horrible impression of Rowan’s deep voice, but he laughed. “I guess that would work. And you’re obviously so focused on your studies,
since it’s your last semester, that you don’t even have time to think about dating.”
“I do take my studies seriously,” Aelin said, and though her tone was stark, her eyes were playful.
“I can tell you do.” Rowan was leaning in to kiss her again when there was a knock on the front door.
They both jumped, Aelin going so far as to climb off of his lap, when Rowan realized it was their dinner.
She blushed as he went to retrieve it, grabbing two glasses for the margaritas.
“Are you going to jump every time we order food?” Rowan asked, sitting next to her with a pile of to-go boxes. He handed her a margarita.
Aelin chuckled as she took it. “Are you?”
Rowan sipped from his glass as he grinned. When he set it on the coffee table, he said, “I guess this will just take some getting used to.”
“I guess it will,” Aelin agreed, pulling her knees up on the couch as she began to flip open the boxes. “But I’m okay with that.”
Rowan leaned over to kiss her, softly, as he said, “Me too.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I’m hooooome.” He says loudly as he steps through the apartment door, setting his briefcase down and taking off his beige coat. Putting down the grand kitchen knife she was using to chop up spinach, she rushed to the door with a smile and engulfed the tall blonde into a tight hug, saying hello. She took a deep breath, inhaling the soft scent of his cologne, the smell of something sour and musty soon taking over. Her face scrunched up and she let out a giggle.
“Oh god, Nanami, you stink, what did you go against today?”
“Nothing too bad. Just a grade 3,” He sighed “A smelly grade 3.” He sounded disappointed, probably because he knew he stunk too. Though the smell was horrendous, she still remained in his arms and he still held on just as tight.
“Are you tired? I was thinking of making dinner with you tonight but if you’re too tired I can-”
“No no. I’m fine. Just let me wash up and I’ll help out.”
“You sure?” She asked looking up towards him, questioning once more to reassure. He looked down and pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
“I’m sure, dear.”
While he showers upstairs, she gets back to readying the ingredients so they could begin cooking their masterpiece as soon as possible. Tonight she had chosen chicken alfredo with a tossed salad; One could say it was her favourite, but saying that would imply that she would eat it when cooked and served by whomever. But to her, she would only eat it when it was him who had made it for her.
Y/n adored him. He adored her. To her, he was her light. She could simply not imagine life without him, not after he had come in and changed her in such a way. She never in a million years would have thought to be so in love with someone. To have known someone who cared enough to hear all about her day or listen to all her tangents, whether they made sense or not. Who listened to her talk forever about anything just so he could see the faint glow of passion in her eyes. Someone who remembered the small details in regards to the things she loved and the things she despised; Like how she hated the feeling of peanut butter on her fingers and how she absolutely admired the scent of fresh pages in a new book. Sometimes, she felt undeserving of him.
He admired her like no other. Never did he believe he’d be capable of opening up to anyone in such a way, at least not until she walked into his life. He could write a million lists, all full of everything he loved about her. The way she smiled cheekily at him after a witty remark, how she'd give every hug as if it was the last, the way she was oh so patient with him. It took him time to become vulnerable in the slightest, he just didn’t know how to do so without burdening her. She knew his job was hard, he’d told her. But rather than running away like he expected, she stayed with him right by his side. She refused to leave him over that. If anything, it made her want to stay more since she felt the need to be there for him. It felt like a punch to the gut but a good one. “So, is this love?” He had asked himself then. Nanami had someone who brought out the much more joyful side to him. At the end of the day, he knew he’d walk through the front door only to see her, arms wide open and with a big smile offering a cozy hug. She was his home. Sometimes, he felt undeserving of her.
Putting the final piece of broccoli into the container, she tidies any clutter and went back to their shared bedroom. Sinking into the bed and falling on it with a plush thump, she lets out a deep sigh mixed with some sort of a groan. She herself was exhausted from work too to say the least. She didn’t deal with curses or anything like that, but she did teach a class of 9 year olds which one could consider just as frustrating. Yawning, she checks her phone to read the time: 6:15 PM. Nanami hadn’t been in the shower for too long, a small nap wouldn’t hurt. Quickly, she settled for a little 30 minute nap. That way, she could get up soon enough to help him out in the kitchen and not abandon him to do everything on his own. She turns her phone off and slowly, her eyes shut.
…
Y/n slowly opens her eyes and notices a grey throw blanket placed on her, something that she doesn’t recall going to bed with earlier. “Must’ve been Nanami.” Grabbing her phone, she turns the screen on, wincing at the incredible blue light piercing into her skull. “Fuck.” she mumbles. Once her eyes adjust, she glances back at the screen for the time: 7:30.
“FUCK,” she says, voice croaking “I overslept.” With the speed of light, she leaves bed and runs down the hall to the bathroom to freshen up. She soon makes her way over to the kitchen silently, slightly ashamed and guilty. Y/n mumbles a whine with a frown, “He’s probably done making things now. I could have helped.”
The kitchen is filled with the delicate scents of sauces, cheese and herbs. She watches him from the door frame, admiring her boyfriend. He stood in front of the stove mixing at the sauce for the alfredo, which scent alone made her mouth water. Nanami seems to be in his own world, as he stands humming to himself softly, stirring the pot of sauce and adding in the broccoli and spinach, not seeming to notice y/n. With a final stir, he carefully sets the lid and turns to rinse his hands. Her gaze sits upon his figure, how his grey oversized shirt slightly clings to his shoulders and loosens as it goes down his body. Looking down, she noticed the bright red christmas pyjamas he had on, the ones with adorable little reindeers all over them. Grinning, she remembers how she had bought those for him. She purchased a matching set for the two of them and insisted on wearing them all day on Christmas last year. Nanami had responded to the idea with a stern “No” which left y/n in shambles. She didn’t expect him to agree, but hey, a girl can dream. However, on Christmas day, lo and behold, she had woken up to find Nanami sitting on the couch, watching the news with his reindeer PJs on. Immediately, she had attacked him with hugs and kisses and all Nanami did was sit there and accept them, secretly loving it the whole time.
A deep voice throws her out of her thoughts. “You know, it’s rude to stare, right?”
Y/n chuckles quietly and makes her way over, wrapping her arms around him from behind, snuggling into his back.
“I like to stare at you, you’re cute,” she breathes in his scent once again, “ah, you smell so much better now. Like the nami I know.”
“I am not cute. I am a grown man.”
“C’mon, you can’t possibly be saying that right now. Not while you’re wearing these pants.” She coos, gently patting his butt. He goes silent, refusing to rebuttal knowing that he’s lost. He leans against the counter, his front facing her. Though he didn’t say anything, y/n sees this as an open invite to his arms. The rope of his arms finds her waist this time, her arms in an embrace around his neck.
“Whatever, tell me, how was your day, hm?” He posed, changing the subject.
“Same old, yenno. The kids and I had a discussion today about drugs and safety. It was cute, hearing them rat out their neighbours for smoking cigs and talk about how yucky they thought alcohol is. It was… sweet. How was work for you, hon?”
“Shit.” He retorts, closing his eyes, “Work is shit.”
“Oh come ON, I’m sure it’s not always that bad, right? Say, how’s your friend doing, you know, the one who kinda looks like one of my makeup brushes! Isn’t he good company?”
“Yeah, if good company means having to deal with a nuisance to society on a daily basis then by all means, yes, Gojo is wonderful company.” He joked, loosening his grip on her and making his way over to the stove to check on his sauce. She follows, opening the first drawer and pulling out a silver spoon, “You’re so mean sometimes. I think he’s a great guy to be around! I met him once, such a flirt.”
He teases calmly, “If you love him so much, why don’t you get with him?”
Taking her spoon, she lowers it into the pot and brings it back up to her face, blowing on it carefully before she puts it to her lips to taste. “Hmm, I would. But I don’t think he’s as big as you. I’ll have to pass.” She smirked, putting the spoon into her mouth as he watched and sighed in disappointment.
He glares,“God, you’re something else.”
“I’m just kidding, babe.” Bringing her spoon down for another taste. He swats at her hand and she retreats it with a whine. “Don’t do that. You’ve tried it already, and will again when we get to eat.” He scolded tenderly, “Plus, you shouldn’t be given these privileges anyway. It’s not like you helped out or anything.” He smiled, teasing her.
“Nanamiiii, I’m sorry,” she whines, half laughing, “I promise, I was going to help! I just got a little bit sleepy and sort of lost track of time…” He turned over to her and lifted her face with a finger under her chin. Laughing, he delicately caresses her cheek, tapping it admirably with a curled finger. The blonde chuckles and looks her in the eyes, “I’m just joking with you, love. I know you’ve been tired lately, I can tell. Why haven’t you been resting?”
Her smile falls and she sighs. Y/n wrapped her arms around his waist and brought him into her, hiding her face into his chest. It was true, she was exhausted but she didn’t deem it to be anything so serious. Work was just heavy this past week from having to grade her students’ work in time for report cards. All she wanted was the best for her kids and was finding ways to get the kids out of their comfort zones enough to do well in class. That reminded her, Nanami also mentioned having a student of his own.
She takes her face out of his chest and glances upwards. “It’s just this week of work, I promise I’ll be back to normal soon. I’ve just been busy with lesson plans and activities, yenno. Anyway, speaking of students, how’s the one you’ve been assigned to?” She posed in a soft tone. Half smiling, he turned around to add the strained pasta to the sauce, scattering it into the pot.
“He’s special. Quite lively. And cheerful. He reminds me of you sometimes,” his voice strains as he stretches to grab the bowl of cooked chicken to finally add into the pot, finishing the meal, “He’s got potential.” Y/n beamed with happiness. Nanami really seemed to like this kid and if he thought you had potential, then it sure as hell meant you had it.
She lets out a squeal, “EEEEEEK!!! That sounds amazing! I’m so happy for you!” Nanami suppressed a laugh and rolled his eyes, “It’s not that-”
“This calls for a drink, don’t you think?” She babbled with excitement, “We should have some wine! Right?”
Grabbing her wrist as she skipped her way over to the bottle, he reminded her, “You have school tomorrow. You always end up having more than needed and struggle to wake up in the morning.” Y/n frowned at his words, to which he noticed and tried to fix, “Tomorrow’s Friday, you can drink plenty tomorrow, hm? I’ll drink with you.”
“Ugh, fine. You’re right. But you have to promise.”
“I promise you ca-”
“No! You have to pinky-promise.” She demanded, pouting as he stuck out her pinky finger.
His heart skips a beat. Was she always this cute? Her angelic eyes stare into his tired ones. Bottom lip poking out, awaiting Nanami’s pinky to interlock with her own. He knew she took pinky-promises very seriously despite her grown age. It was among one of the many petty details that he cherished. Something about this pinky-promise was enough for her to ensure trust onto someone, it made him laugh. Her naivety is what made her so kind hearted, what allowed her to see the best in people. He felt that this naivety is why they’re together to begin with. He didn’t ever think she’d give him a chance. He reminisced of their first few encounters. The way she did her hair back then, the way she dressed, her shy smile and how she’d look at the floor whenever she’d blush. Maybe it was her timid nature that made him fall head over heels for her. Or maybe it was her generosity. Perhaps her beauty. He was unable to simply confine the reasoning for his infatuation with just a few traits. She grew overtime, more comfortable and less shy, she was more confident around him but he knew he could still make her blush so badly that she’d have to hide her face from him. He enjoyed their banter, her company. He felt it was luck. Or maybe it was fate. Who knows. He didn’t want to think so much about it. He wanted to live in the moment, adore her in this present time. In that instance, he felt the strong urge to kiss her. And so he did.
The kiss was short and sweet, yet full of an unfathomable amount of love. It took her aback, she didn’t quite see it coming. She too stood in the present moment, then and there, cherishing the man she loved.
His lips leave hers and he extends the smallest finger on his hand, declaring, “I pinky-promise.” And a ginormous grin washes over her face. In a whisper, she squeals and scoops her arms around his torso, resting her head onto his chest. They stay like this for a while, not too long really, but to them it felt like an eternity being in each other’s affectionate embrace. He goes to speak and she feels the vibrating boom of his voice make his way up from his chest.
“I love you.”
She sighs, “I love you too.”
Turning her head, y/n smoothly gets on her tip toes and clasps her arms around his neck, giving it a tender kiss and attempting to make a trail leading up to his sharp jaw. Catching onto her tactics he laughs, putting his big hand against her face and pushing her back.
“Seriously?” He chuckles, “You couldn’t wait till after dinner? Come on, take out the plates.”
“Wait for what? I was just kissing you! You’re so dramatic, Nami.” She lies, playing innocent. She knew damn well what she was trying to do. She wasn’t going to admit to it though. Taking out the plates and utensils, she readied the table.
…
After dinner and meaningless conversation, the two lovers tidied and headed towards their room. “Do yo wana wah a mohee tomowwow nie?” Y/n proposed from the bathroom as she brushed her teeth. He perks his head up, confused, “Do I want to what?” She spat into the sink and rinsed her mouth, repeating her question.
“I said, do you wanna watch a movie tomorrow night? Like at home? There’s this documentary I saw on Netflix, it looks really good! It’s crime related.”
“That sounds fine with me. Though, that’s only possible if you don’t end up drinking too much. I always have to get you to sleep early when you drink.” He states nonchalantly, nose poked into a thick book. She rolls her eyes and smiles, “I promise I won’t drink all that much.” Shifting his book to the opposing hand, Nanami silently takes his pinky finger and holds it out to y/n. She snickers and reciprocates.
“You’ve now pinky-promised. Don’t break it, y/n.”
“I never do.”
The nightstand lamp illuminates the room with a soft yellow glow. Shadows of objects on the nightstand hang on the walls. Laying in bed on her phone, y/n turns over to Nanami, who was still reading his book. “Nami, come lay next to me, I wanna cuddle. Please?” Her voice faint. He looks down at her and puts his book away immediately. He could use a cuddle too. Bringing himself down, he lays on his back, y/n closing the gap between the two. Their legs intertwine, her arm and head resting on his chest while one of his hands rested on her bum, the other dotingly playing with her hair. Neither of them spoke a word for a while. Until y/n broke the silence.
“So, were there no other pairs of pants you had left to wear or-”
“Please, be quiet.”

Summary: Zoro really shouldn’t agree to be Nami’s drinking partner if he wanted to keep their friendship from getting... Complicated.
__________________________________________
The moon was floating high in the night sky when Nami wandered onto the deck, unable to sleep even after a few hours of sketching.
She wanted company – specifically, she wanted the company of the crew’s resident alcoholic. It only took a few minutes to find him on the lawn deck with his back against a tree and his eye closed. ‘How typical.’
Nami smiled a small, excited smile as she strode over to him and squatted between his parted legs. An unconscious sigh left her nose as she swept her gaze up and down his face. She caught herself thinking, ‘He really is easy on the eyes isn’t he.’ ....again.
Who was she kidding? She’d been thinking the same thing every time she looked his way lately.
Two years ago she’d been able to keep the immature crush she had on him locked tightly away but somehow - it had gotten out and was slowly consuming her entire being.
Nami hoped he hadn’t noticed how often she invited him to drink with her because she didn’t think she could handle being rejected. So she settled for spending time alone with him whenever and however she could.
“Hey, moss-head,” the navigator said finally, leaning in to squint at him, “Are you asleep?”
He had literally just settled down for a nice cat nap when the navigator appeared suddenly to interrupt him. ‘Damn. What the hell did she want now?’
Instead of answering, Zoro chose to ignore her and pretend like he was deep asleep. ‘Why won’t she go bother someone else?’
Nami started prodding his cheek with one finger to rouse him if he really was sleeping, ”Zorooo wake up, I wanna drink,” she whined and his eyelid opened instantly.
‘Why’s she so damn pretty..’ was the first thought he had when he realized that she was a lot closer than he’d anticipated.
He mentally chastised himself after, trying to remind his id that Nami had never once indicated that she wanted to be anything other than friends and he should respect that.
But… There was no harm in looking from time to time was there? And she was pretty. She’d always been... ‘Oh for fuck’s sake, now he sounded like Sanji. He needed to get a grip.’
“Helloooooo,” Nami waved her hand in Zoro’s face until he snapped back to reality and snatched her wrist up, pulling it away. He scowled but it wasn’t deep, and now he was refusing to look her in the eye. “What was that about, huh Zoro?”
“Nothing.” The swordsman replied perhaps a little too quickly to avoid suspicion, “Thought I heard a noise, doesn’t matter – oi, didn’t you want to do something?”
He couldn’t remember what exactly it was. He’d been so distracted by the way her bangs framed her face and sometimes got caught in her eyelashes—’Damnit! He was doing it again.’
Nami smirked again but didn’t press the subject anymore. She’d do that later once they started drinking. “Weren’t you listening to me? You’re so rude, maybe I should find someone else to share my booze with.”
Was it a good idea to go drink with Nami when he kept catching himself thinking about feelings that he’d been suppressing for the last two years? Probably not…
But he couldn’t just decline an opportunity to get buzzed. ‘And... Maybe he wanted to get buzzed with Nami, specifically.’
Zoro scoffed, mostly at himself. “Quit playing games, damnit, do you want me to drink with you or not?”
“You’re so stubborn,” The navigator teased with a pleased smile that made his heart beat unevenly, “I could care less if you join me, but you’re not allowed to come unless you say you’ll be nice.”
“Nami. I am older than you, quit treating me like a fucking child or I swear-”
“That’s no way to talk to a lady who’s getting you drunk for free, Roronoa Zoro. If you can’t be nice then I’ll just add the cost of everything you drink to your debt and-”
Zoro didn’t have time to ruminate over the way hearing her say his full name made him shiver because he had to shut her up before she did charge him.
“Okay, okay. I’ll be... nice.” He hissed through gritted teeth and her answering giggle made his pulse flutter. He had to fight to keep himself from smiling. ‘What the hell was going on with him tonight? Was he sick?’
“Good boy,” she turned and started walking towards the Sunny’s aquarium bar, glancing back over her shoulder to make sure he was coming.
“Don’t push your luck, woman.” Zoro snarled to mask his confusion over the sudden need to touch her that he felt scratching at the back of his head. He really shouldn’t agree to be Nami’s drinking partner if he wanted to keep their friendship from getting... Complicated.
He knew it, but he followed her up the stairs all the same.
                                                       * * *
“Why d’you always want to drink with me anyway, witch?” Skeptical of her intentions, his narrowed eye fixed itself on Nami as she approached him holding two maroon tinted bottles. She offered one to him and he accepted it – but he didn’t let his guard down yet.
Zoro lowered his gaze to check the label out, whistling long and low when he read 23% alcohol per volume. A couple puzzle pieces clicked together in his head ‘Oh, that’s why. Because if she tried to drink this with anyone else they’d pass out after two glasses.’
“Would you believe that I just like hanging out with you?” Though her tone was teasing she was actually being genuine, she had a lot of fun with him whenever they went out.
“No–“ He paused when Nami kicked him in the shin hard enough to make him swear. Reaching down with his free hand he rubbed the sore patch of skin and glared daggers at his crewmate. “What the fuck was that for?!”
“You said you’d be nice, Zoro! So be nice or I’ll charge you a hundred thousand beris for that bottle.” Nami uncorked hers but waited to hand the corkscrew over until he behaved himself. The look he was giving her would probably frighten a small child but she didn’t flinch.
‘This was his choice.’ He reminded himself. Of his own free will he chose to get drunk with Nami instead of napping, and that meant dealing with her bossiness no matter how much he loathed it. ‘Sometimes he just wanted to grab her by the shoulders and make her shut up, there were better things her mouth could be doing anyway-‘
“Why do you keep staring at me like that, do I have a zit or something?”
Zoro sat up so fast that he banged his shoulder on the underside of the countertop. ‘What the hell was that? What the hell was wrong with him?’ He hadn’t even opened the damn bottle and he was already making himself look like an idiot.
“No,” the swordsman grumbled, wracking his brain for a believable excuse, “Just thinking about how I’ll owe you money even after I’m dead if you keep charging me for bullshit.” That made her laugh and Zoro cursed himself for how much he liked hearing it. “Don’t see how it’s funny for me, witch.”
Nami let him take the corkscrew from her, eyes crinkled with amusement while he opened his bottle. “You’ll just have to stay alive until you pay me back in full, I guess!” She trilled before taking a long, heavy drink from hers.
“Yeah?” Zoro snorted before mimicking her and downing about half of the wine in the container. It tasted disgusting, which he’d expected, but that didn’t make the bitter aftertaste any less miserable. His nose wrinkled slightly as he set the bottle down. “I bet even if I did try to pay you off you’d find a way to charge me more.”
“You make me sound so heartless,” the navigator batted her eyelashes innocently, pretending to look hurt, “Why would I ever do such a thing?”
“Hah.” He scoffed before chugging some more wine and failing to keep track of how much he was drinking each time. “Because you want to keep me on a leash since I don’t throw myself at you like that dumbass cook.”
An impish smirk crawled it’s way onto Nami’s face that made him immediately regret what he’d just said. ‘Fuck. Damnit!’
“So…” She began slowly, savoring every second that the swordsman spent avoiding direct eye contact with her, “You admit that you are one of my lap dogs?”
A muscle in his jaw flexed and he stopped drinking for one second to grunt, “That’s not what I said.”
“That’s what I heard!” Chimed Nami as she rose from her seat, stepping over to Zoro and tracing a finger under his jaw while he drained the last few drops of liquid. “I should get you a collar, so people know who to bring you to when you get lost.”
Normally he would have snapped at her for poking fun at his sense, or lack thereof, direction but he wasn’t listening to her. She’d come close enough for him to pick up her scent and maybe it was the alcohol intensifying his feelings, but it was suffocating him in a good way.
He loved the way she smelled. Tangerines from her soaps mixed with salty seawater and traces of sunscreen. A hint of orange blossom, but only when she was close to him like this.
Zoro inhaled deeply through his nose and, without realizing it, his expression melted into something affectionate and gentle. ‘In two years she’d changed in so many different ways… but she still smelled the same. She still smelled like home.’
                                                        * * *
“What are you thinking about, Zoro?” Her voice void of it’s usual teasing tone, Nami’s curiosity was piqued by his sudden shift in demeanor. He looked soft and peaceful, like he didn’t have anything to worry about. She wanted to know why.
‘Ah, fuck.’ What was he supposed to tell her? That he was thinking about how good she smelled? ‘Yeah right.’ Zoro was quiet for a while, mulling over his words until he came up with an explanation that didn’t sound as creepy – but also wasn’t a lie.
“I guess..” he finally murmured, his gaze shifting to meet hers, “It’s just been a while and… I was thinking about how nice it feels to be back here, with everyone…” a brief pause then he added, “I missed you guys.” ‘Look at him being all gushy and emotional, this wine really was something else.’ Zoro reached to brush his fingertips by her temple, catching a stray lock of hair and tucking it behind her ear, “I missed you.”
When had Zoro ever been this honest with her about the way he felt? Never was the answer, but now he seemed to trust her well enough to know she wouldn’t spill his secrets. Nami took his face in both of her hands, surprising him, and pulled his head down so she could kiss his forehead. “I missed you too, Zoro.”
Something about hearing her say that she’d missed him too broke a dam in his chest that he’d been trying to keep together for two years. Hormoness flooded through his bloodstream quicker than Zoro could even process them and before he knew it he was practically throwing his arms around Nami’s waist and crushing her against his chest.
“Nami—” he pressed his face into her neck to hide the tears that he couldn’t hold back anymore. Sober he might have cared about losing it like this around her but she was here and… ‘He just – needed to hold her.’ Hold her and smell her and feel how real she was because she had almost been taken from him.
‘He’d barely begun to process what he had been through on Thriller Bark when they were attacked in Sabaody. If he tried to think back on it his memories would get hazy and his bones would ache from their very cores. He knew what had happened but it’s like his brain was protecting him from understanding how close to death he’d come. Then – to be torn away from the people he loved with all of his heart? Who he had just nearly killed himself to protect?
It had ripped him apart and rubbed salt into every wound. And it fucking hurt. The same kind of pain he felt when he saw Kuina dead on the floor of their dojo. He was scared, he was furious, he was devastated – all over again but this time it was so much worse. So, so much worse.
That was why he had trained so hard over the last two years. Because he couldn’t bear the grief that came with loving them so deeply – so he got stronger. And stronger. And stronger. No matter the cost to his body, he would become powerful enough to defeat anyone who crossed them. Then… He would never have to feel the agony that he did when he first woke up on Kuraigana Island ever again.
Taking on all of Luffy’s suffering in Thriller Bark had been the most physically painful experience of his entire life – but that was nothing compared to how much it hurt to think that his friends were gone forever, that he hadn’t been able to protect them.
Training made it easy not to think about what had happened -- but now he was home, and they were safe - and he was realizing just how close he’d come to losing all of them. At once. And he could do nothing to stop it.’
Startled by him grabbing her, Nami was prepared to give the pirate a good smack if he was getting handsy but… He started trembling. ‘Was he not feeling well?’ Her mouth opened to form the question then stopped. His breathing hitched while his entire body jerked and she realized…
‘Zoro was crying.’
Roronoa Zoro, who prided himself on his strength, was sobbing wretchedly into her neck. ‘He must have been holding this in since Sabaody.’ Nami’s heart ached for him and his stupid pride that forced him to torture himself instead of letting him cry like he needed to. She’d been expecting him to crash at some point, how couldn’t he? Even someone as strong as Zoro was still a human being.
One of her arms cradled his head while the other wound round his shoulders, her fingers combing gently through his hair. “Oh you sweet, sweet boy…” she spoke in the tone that Bellemere used to use when Nami and Nojiko were frightened by a passing thunderstorm. It always calmed her, maybe it would calm Zoro, too.
‘Quit fucking crying you loser you’re supposed to be a man.’ But he couldn’t, he literally could not stop because he was trying to. “I wasn’t strong enough,” his voice quivered at the edges and he hated it. ‘He was definitely never going to drink this kind of wine again ever. Not if it turned him into a blubbering mess like this every time.’
“Shhh, no. No. Don’t you dare try to blame yourself for what happened. Hey, look at me.” Nami urged his head off her shoulder and cupped his face in both of her palms, “None of us were strong enough, okay? Not even Luffy.” Each tear that fell she tenderly swept away with the pad of her thumb. The corner of her mouth turned up as she assured him, “But we are strong enough now. We can take care of each other. Nothing is ever going to tear us apart again, Zoro.”
‘She was right. Of course, she was right. He needed to have faith in his crewmates and his captain. They could do anything as long as they had each other.’ His breathing slowly evened out as he focused on anchoring himself back to reality. He wasn’t in Sabaody or Kuraigana – he was on the Sunny. In the bar, with Nami who had grown so much since he last saw her. The look in his eye softened like it had before his breakdown.
“You’re staring at me again, Zoro.” The navigator teased, her hands falling to rest on his shoulders. He hadn’t let go of her yet but she didn’t mind, he could hold on to her for as long as he needed.
A ghost of his usual smirk passed across his face. “Sorry, Nami…” Zoro took a little risk by leaning in to press a chaste but lingering kiss to her cheek, then traced a path with the edge of his nose to her ear, murmuring, “Wine makes me a little… Messy.”

life bar
idol!haechan x idol!y/n
summary: after the legendary interview was released, you and haechan began dating and have been getting an overwhelming sense of support.
genre: fluff
length: 2.1k
a/n: ah! i didn’t think the first post would gain any traction but it did! thank you so much for returning for a part two :)
this is modeled after the korean variety show, life bar. it’s a great show where celebrities aren’t subject to formal interview settings. please check it out! (mark did appear on the show with xiumin and changmin)
i’m not entirely sure of the hosts’ (other than heechul & yura) popularity outside of korea so excuse me for just labelling them as hosts.
if you missed part one, click here!
Tumblr media
originally dnghycks’ gif
[the atmosphere is lively and filled with joy] host: how long have you been dating again?
heechul: oh, haechan! you’re dating someone?
haechan: ah, hyung! let’s not act like no one knows.
[heechul, dejected, grumbles to himself]
johnny (laughing): haechan didn’t fall for your bait.
[haechan winks at heechul, making heechul go into mock rage]
host: so, it’s been about 4 years?
[haechan plays with the glass in his hands, smiling to himself]
haechan (shyly): ya, just about.
heechul: are you guys still in your honeymoon phase?
host: do you still get butterflies when you see them?
haechan (nodding): of course! it hasn’t been that long.
heechul: it’s difficult to have a successful relationship as an idol. how did you guys handle it after that interview went viral?
haechan: it was very different to what i expected, you know?
haechan: first of all, we were preparing for the award shows and i was super focused.
haechan: i think it was during our water break that notifications were blowing up all of our phones.
johnny: we were so confused and thought it was from our managers.
haechan: i didn’t react immediately but i could hear the other members reacting, saying things like “no way” or “holy crap”.
haechan: everyone turned and looked at me. i felt like an imposter.
haechan: i was like “what? do i have something on my face? did someone send a meme of me?”
haechan: that’s when mark hyung showed me the news articles.
haechan: i blanked out for the rest of the day if i’m honest, barely remember anything from that day.
haechan: the only thing i remember was the pit in my stomach growing every time i stopped practicing. so, i kept pushing myself so i didn’t have time to think.
johnny: haechan actually fainted that day. he worked himself so hard that we had to rush him to the hospital.
haechan: luckily, it was just exhaustion and i could still perform. but, when i woke up, they told me to rest as much as possible.
haechan: the managers made sure i didn’t leave the house and told me to rest up.
haechan: it forced me to process what the news articles were saying.
haechan: once i did, all i was worried about was how y/n might be handling it.
haechan: was jyp going to give them a hard time?
host: did you text them?
haechan: because we were both focused on the award shows, i thought it best to avoid contact with them until it was all over.
johnny: even when it was all over, he still couldn’t text them.
johnny: i remember haechan pacing our room, trying to decide whether or not to call them.
haechan: i wanted to offer comfort but i wasn’t sure if it would aggravate the situation.
haechan: i think it was a few days after the last award show that i had an official meeting with lee sooman and the press team.
haechan: my eyes were wide the entire meeting.
haechan: lee sooman started the meeting by saying “congratulations!” and i was confused.
haechan: he went on to explain that he liked y/n for me and would support this relationship publicly as long as it didn’t affect my work.
haechan: i couldn’t really articulate my feelings so i think i just nodded.
haechan: he continued asking me about y/n after it, asking if we had made it official yet.
haechan: when i said no, he said that he would issue a buffer statement so i had time to ask them out.
haechan: the meeting concluded and, on my way home, y/n texted me.
heechul: what did they say?
haechan: “can we talk?”
heechul (dramatically rubbing his arms): oh no! the chills!
[haechan chuckles and takes a sip of his beer]
haechan: i told them we should meet in person to talk about it as professionals and adults.
johnny: when he tells it like that, it makes him seem tough. he was tearing up while he was getting ready to go out.
[haechan throws dried squid at johnny]
johnny: yo, thank you! i was hungry!
haechan (rolling his eyes): i wasn’t tearing up—
johnny: you’re right! you were sobbing. my bad!
johnny: you were so scared that you were gonna lose y/n.
[haechan balls up his fist in playful anger]
haechan: if only…
haechan: anyways, i was scared that i was going to be entering the new year without my best friend.
haechan: i asked johnny to drive me to our meeting spot so our manager wouldn’t know.
haechan: once we got there, y/n was already waiting on the bench for me so i told johnny to just chill in the car.
johnny: this is when i snuck my phone in his parka so i could wiretap the conversation.
[haechan pinches his nose bridge]
haechan: ah, hyung! privacy! no wonder your guesses were so accurate.
haechan: anyways, we sat down and talked like we always do. then, we got together!
johnny: in the end, y/n asked him out because he kept stumbling over his words.
johnny: y/n was giggling the whole time. it was very wholesome.
[haechan facepalms while the hosts laugh]
heechul (facing the camera): y/n, please take care of haechan! i know he lacks courage sometimes but—
haechan: really, now? after 4 years?
[johnny laughs while patting haechan’s head]
host: do you hold any resentment towards your interviewers?
[haechan takes a swig of his beer]
haechan: i did at the beginning? i don’t think y/n or i were ready to confess our feelings to each other’s faces just yet.
haechan: but, it’s not entirely their fault either.
haechan: i think, because we kept it a secret for so long, we wanted to tell someone and it was the first time we were prompted to talk about it under the veil of false security.
johnny (understandingly): and it’s easier to tell strangers than your closest friends, right?
haechan: for sure. i think a small part of me did hope they would see the entire interview at some point and that’s why i was so transparent.
heechul: and, because of that, you’re in a beautiful relationship now!
haechan (grinning): thank goodness for that!
host: what did they say when you told them you were coming to our show?
[haechan throws his head back in laughter]
johnny (chuckling): they told him that his taste in alcohol sucks and that they felt sorry for the hosts.
heechul: but, all the drinks you recommended are so good!
haechan (wiping away tears): that’s because they’re their recommendations. i don’t really drink for taste, only the social aspect.
johnny: y/n doesn’t like alcohol. so, if they think something tastes good, then it tastes amazing.
heechul: let’s raise our glasses to our hero, y/n!
[everyone happily raises their glass and cheers to you]
host: did you take them on a date immediately after the statements were released?
haechan: well, i wanted to… but, busy schedules and the fact that we hung out so much beforehand made it near impossible to have a good first date.
johnny: he was looking up “good date ideas” online and kept complaining that he already did those.
haechan: it wasn’t intentional. i guess y/n and i just liked to do couple things unironically.
heechul: i can’t believe you guys never got caught.
haechan: i think it’s because we were dressed so plainly without any disguises.
haechan: only a few people ever recognized our bare faces.
haechan: so, i decided to take them to jeju to see my mom after she called me.
johnny (laughing): i remember that call! she was like “now, bring my future in-law or else i’ll beat you up!”
haechan: when we got there, my mom totally ignored me and went straight for them.
haechan: she told them “i knew donghyuck liked you! he’s such a loser for not asking you out sooner.”
[haechan massages his temple and sighs]
johnny: on the record, haechan’s mom definitely loves y/n more than him.
[haechan nods in agreement]
haechan: so, after my mom babied y/n enough, i took them where you could see the stars perfectly.
haechan: i was really nervous and i didn’t really know what to do until y/n grabbed my hand.
haechan: they looked at me and said “as long as you’re with me, every passing moment is perfect. so, stop trying so hard.”
heechul: woah, y/n is so cool.
haechan: they really are. so, we spent our first real date stargazing and just enjoyed each other’s company.
[the host introduces the next dish and haechan helps set the table] heechul: why don’t we call y/n?
haechan (hesitant): i don’t know if they’re awake. they’re always taking naps at this time.
heechul: i’ll call them.
[heechul rings you up]
you (groggily): hello?
heechul: y/n! it’s heechul with the life bar crew. if you could introduce yourself.
[shuffling is heard through the phone]
you (clearer): all in us! hello, i’m y/n from itzy!
heechul: we were just talking about your relationship and wanted to hear your perspective.
[heechul motions haechan to say something]
haechan (sweetly): hi, darling. i’m sorry we interrupted your nap.
you: no, it’s okay! my alarm was about to go off anyways.
haechan: i was telling them about what happened after the interview and our first date.
you: ah, those were interesting.
heechul: oh? interesting, how?
you (giggling): if you know haechan, you know he doesn’t really cry, much less sob. but, when he showed up to talk, his eyes were puffy from crying so much and he had tear streaks on his face.
haechan (pouting): let’s not expose too much, y/n!
you (teasingly): what are you gonna do? cry on me?
[haechan sits back in his chair, frowning]
you: anyways! i vividly remember feeling bolder after the interview, not that i wasn’t nervous about public opinion.
you: however, i was actually talking to jyp when everything blew up.
you: he reassured me that he didn’t mind and he would support any decision i made.
you: just like that, he removed a whole weight off of my shoulders.
you: so, i was able to perform with confidence and complete reassurance.
you: but, whenever i saw hyuck at the award shows, he looked like he was about to implode so i thought it was better to wait for him to text me.
you: i’m sure johnny told you how frustrated the whole group was. i was the exact same.
[haechan blushes and buries his face in his hands]
you: i just wanted to be able to call him mine but he wouldn’t text me.
[everyone laughs and quietly teases haechan]
you (laughing): honestly, i was really impatient but i didn’t want to push him. so, i waited for a whole week after the last award show.
you: but, he was avoiding me really well! i even had to text johnny to make sure he was still alive.
you: so, i decided to just reach out to him first.
you: during the meeting, i tried to act like normal and tease him about his puffy face but he was having none of it.
you: “y/n, this is serious. this is our careers we’re talking about.”
you: i was scared for a moment until he was stumbling his confession out.
you: “the interview! i meant it. everything. i do. i would really like it if— i mean if you feel the same way— of course you do! you said it in the video. you do feel the same way, right?”
haechan (whining): you’re making me sound lame!
you: no, you were cute! but, also, slightly lame.
[you cackle through the phone]
you: so, i just asked him.
heechul: how about the first date?
you: he was so worried about being romantic and having that perfect first date that he forgot that i’m just a simple person.
you: when we went to see the stars, he was so nervous and was getting frustrated with himself.
you: to me, the effort he went through in itself was romantic to me.
you: i didn’t need the most spectacular first date because him being by my side was more than perfect.
you: so, i just let him know my thoughts and, when he finally relaxed, it became the most memorable first date ever.
heechul: what happened after he relaxed?
haechan: i listed all the little things that made me fall in love with them time and time again.
[everyone awes]
you: he made me feel like the most beautiful being in the universe.
heechul: okay! before this turns to sappy, y/n! thank you so much for joining us today!
you (laughing): it was my pleasure! invite me next time so i can expose haechan!
haechan: ya!
heechul: will do, bye!
[heechul hangs up the call]
host: you can definitely feel the love between you two.
haechan (in mock anger): i’m going to jump them the next time i see them.
heechul (grinning): well, i wish you guys nothing but happiness. host (raising his glass): to haechan and y/n’s beautiful relationship! [glasses clink as a bright grin appears on haechan’s face]
a/n: if i’m completely honest, idk how relationships work so idk if the way i wrote about this situation was done in a healthy way :P
pls feel free to give me feedback because i’m always looking to improve!
thank you so much for reading once again!
also, idk really know how taglists work so... @wownajaemin, hello!

Hello! I hope you have a lovely day/evening/night when you get to this one! 😊
This just screams sleep deprived Tim to me: “Do I look like I have ever had a coherent thought?” Maybe with Jay or Dick (or both)? Or maybe all the bats?
Hello lovely, I had, thank you :)
Tim is fine.
He’s just not been sleeping a lot, that’s all. Doesn’t matter; he’s young enough that he can stomach it. If he takes a nap in the Batcave sometimes, that’s between him and the chair.
…except he wakes up to Duke’s grinning face.
Oh, no.
“This is why I do day shifts,” the other boy comments mercilessly.
Tim tries to open his eyes all the way. His eyelashes have gone crusty. Fuck. That means it wasn’t just a ten-minute power nap as he’d planned. “Did I miss anything?”
“Eh, nothing much. Except for dinner.”
“What?” Tim sits up straight. He’s in so much trouble—
“Just kidding. Alfred said to fetch you because you will look even sadder without food.”
…sometimes, Tim misses the days when Duke was too in awe of them to open his mouth. “Fine.”
—
“Master Tim.”
There’s no reply.
Alfred sighs and resolves to wipe that part of the kitchen table later. He will have a strong word with the oldest of his charges, though. Master Bruce should know better than to allow child labor.
—
“Tired?” Cass asks gently.
Tim nods. “Yeah, sorry. I just need to finish this report, then I’ll be right with you on that surveillance—“
He doesn’t even see her fist coming. All he knows is that she moved, and then he wakes up six hours with a giant bruise on his neck.
(It’s the best sleep he’s had in a while.)
—
Steph just takes about a hundred pictures of him and posts them all on her Insta.
—
“Red Robin.”
“He’s not replying. Oracle?”
“His comm is still switched on. GPS says he’s still at King’s St 45B.”
“I’m on my way.”
“That shouldn’t be necessary, B; I have a camera on the building… oh.”
“What, O?”
“I think… I think Red Robin fell asleep.”
Silence.
“I will fetch him, anyway. Maybe he has been paralyzed or otherwise been interfered with.”
“Sure, B. Sure.”
—
“This is getting ridiculous,” Jason says.
Bruce sighs. “You don’t even live here.”
“Yeah, well, that doesn’t stop me from finding him asleep in the fucking window, am I?” Bruce notes that Jason is carrying Tim very carefully for all his grumbling, depositing him in his bed with surprising gentleness. “At what point are you gonna realize he’s overworking himself and do a proper intervention?”
“We are—“
“Dosing him with sleeping pills occasionally doesn’t count.”
Bruce switches tactics. “What were you doing entering through the attic window anyway?”
“None of your business.” Jason shakes his head. “Seriously, start taking care of your kids, dude. Bye.”
Bruce watches him walk away, presumably to meet up with Alfred in the butler’s apartment and drink some tea. His sons still think they can keep secrets from him. It’s cute.
—
Tim is working on yet another case and wouldn’t luck have it; he got stuck with ‘watching the brat’ duty tonight. At least Damian can be trusted to entertain himself, just occasionally asking stupid questions. Right now, Tim is trying to explain his surveillance set-up: “So she’s going to go visit her lover, but we’re not interested in that, so we’re filming the living room instead, hoping that’s where he hides stuff.”
“That makes no sense,” is the snide reply. “At least try to be coherent, Drake.”
“Do I look like I have ever had a coherent thought in my life?” Tim asks. It doesn’t come out sarcastic, just tired.
Whatever. He’s kinda past caring about all that shit. Who cares what one teenager thinks about him? Tim has learned to ignore Damian’s comments long ago.
To his surprise, however, the brat just turns around and leaves. No words of derision, no parting shot, nothing
Tim would think about it more if he wasn’t so tired.
—
“A little bird told me you’re not sleeping.”
“Okay, which of the bastards ratted me out—wait, no.” Tim realized his mistake as soon as he sees the glint in Dick’s eyes. “I meant that there is nothing to talk about because I’m fine.”
“Uh-huh.”
“I’m not tired.”
“Sleep,” Dick says, “or don’t. But you need to rest. And if you wanna talk about the nightmares, we can. Only if you want to, though. Either way, I’ll be here.”
“…Fine.” Tim leans back on the pillow and demonstratively closes his eyes. “I’m gonna try for twenty minutes, and if I’m still awake then, you’ll let me go out, okay?”
Dick wisely doesn’t point out that he didn’t actually take his younger brother prisoner. Instead, he tells him gravely: “It’s a deal.”
“No going back.”
“Never.”

When Dick checks back fifteen minutes later, Tim is curled up on his side and fast asleep.
With a smile, he types into the family group chat (currently missing one member): Phase One is a go. The subject has succumbed.
The number of thumb-ups he gets in reply almost breaks his app.
(I’m taking prompts until the end of the year.)

Take it Slow - Part Sixty-Three
a/n: okay this is my first shot at a harry:y/n fic, and it will be multiple parts. y/n had a bad experience with an ex over a year ago, and finally accepts her coworker and good friend Niall’s invitation to go on a blind date with his friend Harry.
Warnings: TW. - THE R-WORD IS USED IN THIS PART! Fluff and Smut.
Masterpost (all previous parts can be found in the masterpost)
Sunday morning Harry got up to start editing the photos. He dug up an old album he never used so he could place them in there for you once they were printed. He wanted you to sleep so he could get everything done. The photos were incredible. He thought you looked stunning. He edited them so they were all black and white and touched up some other things. He started printing them when he heard you walking around downstairs.
“Harry?” You call for him sleepily.
“Up here babe, be down in a minute!”
Once the pictures are dry enough he fills up the album. He sees you curl up on the couch with a cup of coffee. He comes down and plops right next to you.
“They’re all done. Wanna see?”
“How early did you get up to do this?”
“Early…I was too excited.” He chuckles.
“Okay, lemme see.”
You lean into him and he opens the album. You mouth falls open when you look at the pictures. He did an amazing job.
“You’re so talented Harry, I actually like the way I look!”
“That’s all you, babe, you’re gorgeous.” You kiss him on the cheek.
“Oh my god!” You gasp at the ones of you touching yourself. “I’m not awake enough for this.” You laugh. “I’m gonna go put this away in my closet, okay? It’ll be easy for you to find while I’m away. Thank you so much for doing this for me.”
“Anytime.”
//
Your week with Mark was easier. He kept his distance as much as he could.
“So, you have a half day today?” He asks you Friday morning. He couldn’t help but look at your butt in your jeans.
“Yup, I have to pack and then my mom is spending the night with us so we can get to the airport easier tomorrow.” You pull some sheets of paper from a file folder. “Here’s what I’ll need you to work on next week while I’m gone. Niall has a copy too and he will be checking in.”
“I don’t need to be babysat. What do I do if I finish all this?”
“Go see Niall, he’ll have work for you.”
“Do you ever have fun here, like ever?”
“I have fun all the time, with Niall, because he’s my friend. You, Mark, are not my friend.”
“Yeah, you’ve made that plenty clear.” He huffs.
“Good, that was my intention.” You give him a fake smile.
“You could try to warm up to me, I’m not a bad guy. We’re going to be working together for a while longer.” You scoff at him.
“You burned your bridge with me a long time ago.”
“Are you sure that’s it? Or are you afraid your boyfriend will get jealous?”
“Harry? Jealous of you?” You start laughing. “What’s there to be jealous of?”
“A stable job, an actual future…”
“His job is very stable, he gets paid well, and-“
“Doesn’t he have to freelance?”
“He freelances because he loves what he does and he likes making people happy. He’s insanely talented.”
“Why not open his own studio then?”
“He will, it’s just not the right time, and…you know what? I don’t have to explain a thing to you.” You shake your head at him. “I’m leaving now, see you when I get back.” He follows you out of your office and you lock it. “You are not to go in here while I’m gone, understand?”
“Mhm.”
You say goodbye to Niall with a big hug and head out the door to your place. You had a lot of packing to do. Harry came home from work early so he could spend some time with you before your mom got there.
“Ah! Son of a bitch!” He hears you yelp and he runs into the bedroom.
“Y/N?!” He stops short when he sees you clutching at your stomach.
“Hi, sorry, I just can’t get my piercing out for some reason. It’s a little tender from the last time I changed it.” You groan. “Fuck it, I’m leaving it in. They won’t see it anyways.”
He comes over to the bed and picks up a couple of your swim suits.
“These are cute.” He holds them up to his body and makes a modeling pose.
“Give me that!” You giggle and snatch it from him.
“Do yeh need help with anythin’?”
“No these were the last few things.” You close the lid on your suitcase. “Actually, could you bring that down to your car for me?”
“You got it.” He kisses the top of your head and grabs the bag.
When he comes back up you both eat a quick dinner and he takes you into the bedroom.
“She’ll be here soon…”
“Let me just love on you for a little while.” He nuzzles into your neck. You can’t resist him when he’s like this.
He makes love to you…twice. You force yourselves out of bed when your mom texts you that she’s downstairs. You both go down to greet her and Harry takes her larger bag down to the car.
“It looks amazing in here! You both have done such an incredible job decorating.”
“Thanks mumma. The guest room is all made up for you.”
“Perfect, well, I think I’ll head to bed now since we have to be up so early, night kids.”
“Night!” You give her a hug and kiss and off she goes. You look at Harry. “We should go to bed too. We have to get up at like four.”
“Sounds good.”
He cuddles you all night, and you wouldn’t have had it either way. The three of you were quiet it in the car the next morning. It was far too early to speak. Harry takes the bags out of the car for the both of you. Your mom goes into the airport to give you both some privacy to say goodbye.
You wrap your arms around each other and you feel wetness from his tears on your neck.
“It’s only a week, seven sleeps. I’m back next Saturday night.” You say into his ear.
“I know, I’m just gonna miss my sweet baby girl so much.” He pulls back to look at you. You wipe his tears with your thumbs.
“And I’ll miss my doll. Just look at the pictures when you miss me. I’m not going to have a lot of access to the internet. Only at the timeshare really.”
“So I don’t need to be a good boy?” He smirks. You smile at him and shake your head.
“No, I won’t torture you.” You sigh. “Kiss me, I need to head inside.”
He kisses you, boy does he kiss you. Your head is spinning when he lets go of you.
“I love you so much, as soon as I have WiFi I’ll text you, okay?”
“I love you too, have a safe flight.”
He watches you walk in, and then he gets back into the car. This was going to be the longest week of his life.
//
You texted Harry as you could like you said, and you told him you were planning to unplug for a bit, other than posting a few pictures to your Instagram story. He took a nap when he got home, and woke up a few hours later. Him and Niall decided to grab a bite to eat together at their favorite diner.
“Sarah and I are goin’ out for our six month tonight, otherwise I’d invite you out for drinks tonight.”
“No worries, mate. What are the two of yeh plannin’ on doin’?”
“Takin’ her out for a nice dinner. She said she had a big surprise for me tonight and that she didn’t wanna be out too late.” He shrugs.
“Did you get anythin’ f’her?”
“Yeah, I bought her a new anklet, she loves wearin’ ‘em.”
“Oh, I bet she’ll love that. She stays at your place a lot, yeah?”
“Yeah, almost every night now.”
“Think you’ll ask her to move in soon?”
“I don’t know if she wants to leave Rachel just yet. Although, word on the street is that Mariah’s been stayin’ over quite a bit at their place.”
“They’re a match made. I might hang out with them durin’ the week. I’ve been thinkin’ more about my freelance work lately. I think if I were to ever go for it full time I’d ask Mariah to come with me. She could work with clients I didn’t have time more, plus, I genuinely trust her. Then, once we made a lot of money, I’d steal Isaac too. He’s the best receptionist.”
“You’ve clearly thought this through.”
“Here and there. I just enjoy working with people a lot more. It doesn’t even feel like work. And it would be nice to have my own schedule. Guess I could just get state insurance…”
“Or you could marry Y/N and just go on her insurance.” Niall jokes.
“Plannin’ on it, mate.” Niall nearly chokes on his food.
“Excuse me?”
“I’m not sayin’ it’ll be tomorrow, but I think once she and I have been together for a year I’m gonna propose. We’re at eight months now.”
“Do yeh have a ring yet?”
“I have one in mind, yeah. There’s a jewelry store in London that I like. Saw what style of ring she likes. I’ve called the jeweler a couple of times. They have a site so I can essentially design it myself. I could pick it up this summer when I go home.”
“Harry…I…I’m so happy for you. I’ve never seen you like this with someone before. She’s really the one, huh?”
“She really is. I can’t explain it...I think I knew before I took her to meet my family that I wanted her forever, but that trip solidified how I felt. And I know she feels the same way. We’ve talked about it.”
“That’s great. I can’t picture her endin’ up with anyone else.” He smiles. “Not to change the subject, but I was thinkin’ you and I could go out for a boys night on Thursday.”
“Yeah! I’d like that. Been a while since just the two of us went for a drink.”
//
By Sunday night, Harry was already missing you too much and he decided to get the photo album out of your closet. A few glances couldn’t hurt. You had posted a few things to your story. He couldn’t wait to see your sun kissed skin when you got back.
As he was rummaging through the top shelf of your closet, he lost his balance and pulled down a box, and the contents spilled out.
“Shit.” He recognized the box…it was your special box that you used to keep under the bed. There were some new items still in a bag. He pick it up and his eyes widen. “What the…” He takes the cockring out and is genuinely shocked. “Was she plannin’ t’use this on me?” Then he grabs the box the butt plug was in. “Holy shit!” He smirks. “Does she wanna use this on me too? No fuckin’ way she wants this up her ass…”
Normally Harry would tease you about these things, but he figured you hid them for a reason. So he puts everything back and finds the photo album. He gets on the bed and does his pants while he looks at the pictures of you. Just as he was about to play with himself, his phone rang, and it was you.
“Hey baby!” Your voice was music to his ears.
“Hey! How’s vacation?”
“So good, I just came inside to grab some water so I thought I’d call quick.”
“Well, thanks for thinkin’ of me. How’s your Nan?”
“She’s great! She’s really happy my mom and I are here. We’re gonna go to a casino tomorrow, I’m excited. And Tuesday night is the night we’re gonna go dancing. I’ll have to send you some pictures.”
“Please do! I was lookin’ at some right now actually.” You blush.
“Harry!”
“What? You told me I could.”
“I guess that’s true…were you, um, you know?”
“Was about to...wanna help me along?”
“Hold on, let me go into the bathroom in case anyone comes in.”
He half expected you to say no. He hears you flip the bathroom fan on.
“Where is everyone else?”
“There’s a bonfire tonight.”
“Ah.”
“So…where were you?”
“Hadn’t event taken my pants off yet.” He chuckles.
“Okay, take them off then.” You were hushing your voice which was only turning him on more.
Harry adjusts his cock out of his pants and grips it.
“Rub the tip with your thumb like how I do, baby.”
He closes his eyes and just does as you say as you’re saying it. His top rubs over his thumb and he spreads the precome up his shaft.
“Now, I want you to-“ You go silent for a moment.
“Babe?”
“I’ll just be a minute, Nannie!”
And just like that his dick went limp at the thought of your grandmother.
“I’m so sorry, she knocked on the door, um, I-“
“It’s fine, I, uh, lost it.” You both giggle.
“I’ll try to call tomorrow, I gotta go. Apparently someone’s grilling and making drinks, so I need to get back out there.”
“Okay, have fun. Love you.”
“Love you too!!”
//
You did your best to send Harry pictures of your different tropical outfits. You did well to hide your naval piercing from your mom and grandmother. Thank god for high waisted shorts and pants. Your skin was getting more tan as each day passed. One more you all decide to take a trip downtown before going to the pool for the day. You only went to the beach at night due to how strong the sun was.
There was a jewelry store your Nannie loved going to. Your Papa would take her to it all the time, and you remember going when you were a senior in high school. He bought you the most beautiful bracelet for being the best baby in the world.
The three of you looked around. Not being someone who loved to wear jewelry, you were mostly looking for something to buy for Harry.
“Honey, can I ask, why don’t you just that ring resized?” Nannie asks.
“Harry bought me this chain so I could wear it like this. It looks more like a slide than a ring anyways. We both like it like this.”
“Alright.”
You had already gotten him the pearls, and lord knows he doesn’t need anymore necklaces or rings. What the fuck could you get him that he didn’t already have? As you continue to walk by everything, a particular ring catches your eye. It’s white gold and has a sunflower on it. If you were going to wear his rose, maybe he could wear your sunflower? Although, he already wore one on his skin every day for you. But something about the detail in the ring just made sense.
“Excuse me, I’d like to look at this one.” You say to the jeweler. He takes it out for you and you know you have to get for Harry. You give the jeweler his ring size and he tells you to come back the next day and it’ll be ready.
Your mom buys you a pair of studs for years and you put them in right away. The ones Harry had gotten for you months ago sat in your first holes, and the ones your mom just got you would sit in your doubles. They complemented each other perfectly.
//
Thursday night Harry went with Niall to a bar they hadn’t been to in a while. They were both excited to have a guy’s night.
“So, I never asked, how was the anniversary evening?” Niall’s face went red immediately. “What was her big surprise? Did she like the anklet?”
“She loved the anklet, yeah.” He takes a sip of his drink. “She bought me…some things.”
“What kinds of things?”
“Um…”
“Niall, I have fucked two separate women with you, I think you can tell me what Sarah bought you.”
“Okay, okay. She bought a cockring from some sex shop.” Harry nearly spat out his drink.
“They both them together?!”
“What?!”
“I found one in Y/N’s closet the other day. Still the packaging and everything, but still. So Sarah used it on you?”
“Well, yeah.” Harry smirks at his friend.
“How’d you like it?”
“It was…interesting. I use her vibrator on her all the time so she said she wanted to do the same to me or somethin’ like that. It was sorta nice for the both of us, but it was a lot to leave on for a while.”
“She actually lets you use it on her? Y/N said she’d feel weird, that’s why I was shocked when I found the other things she bought.”
“Things? What else was there?” Harry’s face heats up.
“There was, um, a butt plug.” He says quietly. Niall starts laughing.
“Think she wants to fuck your shit up a bit.”
“How do you know she doesn’t want me to use it on her?”
“Because Sarah got one too and she wants to use it on me before she lets me get in her like that.”
“Did she use it on you?!”
“Not yet…I told her I’d have to think about it. I don’t know how worth it is.”
“You should humor her, mate, trust me, it’s worth it. So tight.”
“Alright, alright.” They both laugh. They hear a ton of commotion from behind them. “Think there’s a bachelor party happenin’.” Niall says.
“Looks like it, yeah.” Harry squints. “Lad looks familiar, doesn’t he?”
Niall turns fully around to look at where Harry’s looking. His eyes grow wide.
“Where have seen him before?” Harry says.
“Harry, we should pay our tab and go somewhere else.”
“Why?”
“Because…that’s Jake.” Harry’s mouth falls open and then his jaw tenses. “We can’t cause a scene. I can’t believe that girl he was skating with is still going to marry him. Probably lied right to her face.”
Harry would never forget watching you self implode at the ice rink. He wanted to bash Jake’s head in.
“We can’t start a fight with him, we need to go.”
Harry nods and gets up. The two go up to the bar to pay their tabs. A few of the guys from the bachelor party bump into them, one being Jake.
“Sorry about that, our boy’s getting married this weekend, he’s a little out of it.”
Harry and Niall look in their direction, but don’t say anything. They look the three up and down and put their attention back on the bar.
…
Everything else was a blur. Harry wasn’t sure when his fist connect with Jake’s jaw, or when Niall pulled him off of him after nearly choking him out. He wasn’t sure when Jake got a swing in, but he knew his nose was bruised. Not broke, but definitely bruised. They were all thrown out of the bar.
“I should press charges! You threw the first punch! How am I supposed to explain this to my fiancé?!” Jake’s friends were trying to pull him away from Harry and Niall, but it was no use.
“You should press charges?!” Harry started laughing. “You’ve done far worse things. If anyone deserves to be locked up it’s you!”
“I have no idea who you are or what you’re talking about….wait a second…you both were at the ice rink that night. My fiancé almost broke up with me!”
“Good.” Niall says.
“Who are the two of you? She kept asking me what I did, but I had no idea what to tell her.” Jake’s friends let go of him as he’s calmed a bit. Niall and Harry look at each other.
“You raped my girlfriend a year and half ago.” Harry says bluntly.
“Raped?! I’ve never done something like that. Your girlfriend’s crazy if she told you something like that.”
“I could easily snap your neck in half, I wouldn’t talk about her like that if I were you.”
“Do you recognize this girl?” Niall pulls a picture up of you on his phone. Jake squints at it. Everyone was still really drunk. He felt hazy, but he nodded.
“Went out with her a few times, yeah. But I didn’t rape her.”
“Yes you did.” Niall says. “You fucked her until she bled out on her sheets.”
“Didn’t you see it on you when you pulled out?”
“I just thought maybe it was her first time or something.”
“You’d fuck someone that hard when you thought it was their first time?” Harry asks exasperated.
“It’s not like she told me to stop, thought she was enjoying it.” He shrugs.
“She was too fuckin’ scared to tell you to stop! You didn’t even ask her if she wanted to.”
“That’s her word against mine.” He crosses his arms.
“She threw up after she saw you at the ice rink, I don’t think she was exaggerating.” Niall says. “She’s got the bag with the sheets you know. Probably has plenty of your DNA still on it. All she has to do is press charges and your ass is done. So you should be very scared. Any day at any time your entire world could come crumbling down.” Niall looks at Harry. “C’mon, let’s go.”
The two walk away, leaving Jake and his friends stunned. Niall gets Harry inside your apartment, and get some ice into a rag.
“Did he break it?” He asks, pressing it gently to his nose.
“No, but it’s gonna leave a bruise. Feel sorry for him, probably gonna have an indent of my rings in his jaw for a week.” Harry takes the ice from Niall, and winces when he presses it a little hard to himself. “Y/N is gonna be so mad. I can’t lie to her about this.”
“Look, at least you weren’t arrested. It could’ve been worse.”
“I can’t believe you threatened him like that.”
“He ruined her life! I want him to know she could just as easily ruin his. He should be grateful she hasn’t.”
“And for him to say he didn’t rape her? What a fuckin’ lunatic.”
“Think you’re gonna have some dark circles under your eyes, mate.”
“Shit.” He sighs. “I don’t even remember hittin’ him.”
“I think he bumped into you again and you lunched at him.” He starts laughing. “I don’t think I’ve seen you reach your boilin’ point like that in a very long time.”
“I should call her.”
“It’s late.”
“She might be up, I need to call her.”
“Put it on speaker, maybe she’ll take it easier on you if she knows I’m here.”
“Good idea.”
//
You were eating some ice cream on the couch watching a move with your mom and Nannie after spending some time at the Casino. You couldn’t wait to show Harry his ring. Your phone goes off, and you’re sort of shocked to see him calling so late. You get up and go into your grandmother’s bedroom to have some privacy.
“Harry? It’s late babe, are you alright? I’m in the middle of a movie, I can’t help you along tonight.” You hear Niall burst out laughing. “Am I on speaker?! Is this a drunk call?!”
“Sorry, sorry, yeah you’re on speaker.” He swats at Niall. “I’m okay, but somethin’ not so chill happened tonight…”
“Like what?”
“We were at a bar…” Niall starts. “And there was this bachelor party happenin’, and, um…”
“Jake was there.” You freeze and walk further into the bedroom and into the ensuite.
“So what happened?”
“Well, we got up to leave.” Niall says.
“But him and his friends kept bumpin’ into us at the bar, and I lost my cool.”
“What does that mean Harry?” Your eyes were starting to water.
“I don’t know how it all happened because it happened so fast, but I hit him, and then I choked him. Niall got me off him, but he got a swing at my face, punched me in the nose. The bouncer threw us all out. No one called the police…”
“Oh my god! Are, are you alright? Did he break your nose?”
“No, it’s just bruised, love.” He tries to say softly to calm you down.
“Harry, you can’t just go around hitting people! You could’ve been arrested!”
“I know, I know, I’m so sorry. It just happened.”
“What happened after you left the bar?”
“We…had some words.” Niall says.
“What kinds of words?”
“I threatened him…”
“He wouldn’t admit what he did to you was rape either.” You wince at the word and nearly vomit.
“You brought me up?! You both, you both are FUCKING IDIOTS! I, I don’t even know what to say right now.”
“We were comin’ from a good place-“
“Niall, I swear to god, just shut the fuck up.” You take a deep breath. “You both are so stupid! Were you all drunk too?”
“Yes.” They say in unison.
“Well that’s just great. Thanks so much for defending my honor. I’m so glad you called to tell me all of this at nearly one in the morning!”
“Would you rather I pick you and your mum up at the airport with a bruised nose with zero explanation?”
“What am I supposed to tell her?! You got into a bar fight? Yeah, that’ll go over really well. You better put some makeup or something over it.” There’s silence for a moment or two. “You both are alright?”
“Yes.” They say together again.
“Okay.” You sigh. “I’m going to get back to what I was doing, and try to calm down. I love you both, goodnight.”
Before they can say anything, you’ve hung up, and made your way back to the living area. Your mom and Nannie were looking at you with concern.
“Harry and Niall got into a fight with someone at a bar. They’re both fine, I can’t really get into it right now, so please don’t ask me about it.” You plop down next your mom, tears starting to burn your cheeks. She throws an arm around you and lets you cry into her. Your Nannie rubs your back to try to soothe you.
//
You soak up as much sun as you can the next couple of days. You were trying to keep your head clear. Mariah helped Harry buy and apply some makeup to make his bruises more subtle. He looked terrible, honestly.
“There.” She says, dabbing the last bit under his eyes. “Now you just look like you haven’t slept.” She smirks.
“Thanks.” He throws everything into a bag. “I hope I can remember how to do all this on my own tomorrow.”
“You said she told her mom right?”
“Yeah, but it looks so much worse than it is, I don’t want them to worry even more.”
“You’re lucky it didn’t break.”
“I know. I wish he would just move across the country or somethin’.”
“Yeah, but he’s not. You can’t just throw down every time you happen to bump into him.”
“Obviously.”
“Jesus, H, you look like shit.” Myk says walking into his office. “Are you wearing makeup?”
“This is why I usually work from home on Fridays.” He groans. “And yes I am, nothin’ wrong with a man wanting to cover some blemishes.”
“A blemish, or a bruise?” She squints at him. “What happened?” She actually looks concerned.
“I got into a little…scrap last night, okay?”
“Are you alright?”
“As if you care, Myk.”
“I do!” Her eyes soften. Mariah stands there awkwardly looking back and forth to the two of them.
“Well…I’m fine. Looks worse than it feels.”
“You should just go home for the rest of the day, I’m sure Chris won’t care.”
“I don’t need to go home, I’m fine.” He looks at the two of them. “Really, it’s all good. Shoulda seen the other guy.”
“Did you have your rings on when you hit him?” Mariah asks.
“Course I did.”
“And he’s not pressing charges?” Mykenzie asks.
“I don’t think he will be, no.” He sighs. “It’s fine.”
“Does your girlfriend know?” Myk asks.
“I called her the night it happened. She wasn’t thrilled. She’s really worried about me, but she’s less angry now.”
“Why did you-“
“Enough with the questions please! The two of yeh are givin’ me a headache. Maybe I will go home.”
He grabs his things and heads out, leaving them both there. He just wants you home with him. He wants to apologize in person for starting something that didn’t need to be started. It was the longest week of his life, and he missed you so much he could cry. In fact, he did a couple times.
//
Harry spent the day Saturday doing all the chores you usually did together. He wanted the place to be spotless for your return. He was to pick you up the airport around six. Your sister would be picking your mom up. He dabbed some of the makeup on under eyes and around his nose just in case your mom was still with you when he picked you up.
You hugged your mom goodbye after you both got your luggage. You were exhausted. You couldn’t fall asleep on the plane, and there was a lot of turbulence so your stomach felt like shit. You were just happy you had a good time and a good tan. You waited out on the curb and looked for Harry’s car. He spots you and waves excitedly, almost forgetting he’s in trouble.
He throws the car in park and gets out. He picks you up and spins you around and you throw your arms around him. Tears prick at the both of your eyes for different reasons. He sets you down, cups your cheeks in his hands and kisses you. Suddenly you forget any ill feelings you had. His lips on yours was like pure heaven after being deprived for a week. A few cars beep at you, so Harry puts your bag in the trunk and off you go.
“Doesn’t look so bad…” You finally say.
“I, uh, put some make up on over it. It looks a lot worse than it feels.” He sighs. “Do you really wanna talk about this now? I’d much rather hear about your trip. Your face is so tan! You look great, babe.”
“I don’t wanna talk about it all actually…and thank you.” You put your hand on his thigh. “What’s done is done.” He nods.
“Are yeh hungry? Want me to stop somewhere quick on the way home?”
“No, I had a sandwich on the plane. I’m desperate for a shower. We went to the pool this morning and I didn’t have time to rinse off before we packed up.”
“Alright.”
Harry gets you home, and helps with your bag.
“So they didn’t notice your piercing?”
“No they did.” You laugh.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He laughs with you.
“I don’t know.” You shrug. “My mom noticed it right away and it was whatever. My Nannie was like at least it’s not a tattoo. So I was able to wear more of my two pieces, I’m glad I packed some.”
You start taking your clothes off and he follows you into the bathroom.
“Holy shit.” He looks you up and down. “You really got some sun.”
“Mhm, I’m crispier than a chicken nugget, and I love it. I didn’t wear makeup all week either, my skin is so happy right now.” You step into the hot water and Harry sits up on the sink counter. He didn’t feel like showering, but did feel like continuing to chat.
“Did yeh win any at the casino?”
“Mostly just broke even. It was a lot of fun though. I’ll have to show you some of the pictures I took.”
Harry gets up and grabs an envelope from his dresser that he’s been waiting to give you. You get out of the shower and wrap a towel around you.
“God I feel so much better.” He has a huge smile on his face. “What?”
“Here, got his a while ago, thought you should know.”
“Is this a bribe so I don’t stay mad about you getting into a bar fight?” You smirk.
“Nope. You can be mad as long as you want, I know it was stupid.”
“I almost wish I could see what you did to him.” You shake your head and take the envelope. You open it up and gasp, clapping a hand over your mouth. “Harry!” You beam at him. “When did you…”
“Bought ‘em the second they went on sale. Fifth row, dead center.”
“Oh my god! We’re going to see the Weeknd?!”
“Happy very early birthday, babe.”
You throw your arms around his neck and hold him tight.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m so excited!” You  kiss him on the cheek. “Will you hold onto these?”
“Yup, I’ll stick ‘em back in my dresser.”
You go into your carry on and rummage in it, pulling out a black box.
“I got you a little something while I was away.” You hand him the box.
“You didn’t have to do tha’…”
“Just open it.”
He opens the box and sees the sunflower ring. His jaw drops and he looks at you.
“Way too expensive.”
“Oh well, can’t return it now. Try it on. I got it for the size of your middle finger.”
Harry takes one of his rings off and puts it on. His nails were recently painted pastel purple for the Easter holiday. He loved the way the white gold contrasted with it.
“So…you were at the store, saw this, and thought of me?” He asks without looking at you, fixated on the ring.
“Mhm. I thought since I wear your favorite flower, you could wear mine. Not everyone can see your tattoo. Do you…do you like it?”
“Like it?” His eyes were glossy. “I love it!”
He comes over to you and cups your cheeks his hands and kisses you. Your hands go on his hips.
“M’never takin’ it off.” He says against your lips. His tongue swipes across your bottom lip and you open up for him. His tongue molds with yours and moan into him right away. “Miss me a little?” He whispers.
“Missed you a lot.” You look up at him. “I barely slept most nights.” You pout.
“You’ll sleep good tonight, I’ll make sure of it.” He undoes your towel and lets it pool at your feet. “I can’t get over these tan lines.” He says, cupping your breasts.
You tug at the hem of his shirt and he takes it off. He undoes his pants as you sit back on the bed.
“I can’t, um, go down on yeh unfortunately, as much I really want to. Nose it too sore.”
“It’s okay. Your fingers aren’t sore, right?” You smirk and he bites his bottom lip.
“Nope.”
He crawls on the bed and you part your legs for him. He sucks two fingers into his mouth and grazes them against your folds.
“Did you look at the pictures while I was gone?”
“Yes.” He blushes as he rubs circles on your clit. “More than I’d like to admit.” You giggle.
His fingers push inside you, and curl up. Your head rolls back and your mouth falls open. He really wants to lick you, but he knows he would end up nose deep and that was just not good for his health at the moment. He pumps in and out of you and hit that sweet spot inside.
“Fuck, Harry.” You breathe as your eyes roll into the back of your head. “That’s it right there.”
He pumps faster. Your nails dig into his shoulders. He can feel you clenching around him, wanting to clamp your legs together, but he keeps them spread apart. Your back arches and you moan his name again as you release onto his fingers. He sucks them back into his mouth to at least get a little taste of you.
Harry wondered when you’d wanna break out the new toys. He desperately wanted to ask, but he knew you must have hid them for a reason and he didn’t want you to feel embarrassed.
“Lay back doll, I wanna ride you.”
Harry smiles and does what you say. He sits up against the head board and you crawl onto his lap. You wrap your hand around his dick and play with his top with your thumb. You kiss him, slipping your tongue into his mouth. He groans against you as you stroke his dick. You raise your hips slightly and slowly lower yourself onto him. You both groan with satisfaction.
“You feel so good.” You say into his ear. “So snug.” You raise and lower on him until you find a good rhythm. You nibble on his earlobe and his hands slide to your ass to help you move faster on him.
“Missed you so much, fuck.” He practically whimpers when you tighten and loosen around him a few times. He grits his teeth as he thrusts up into you, the both of you moving in sync together.
“Tell me how good it feels, Harry.” You say into his ear with a whisper.
“Feels so fuckin’ good.” His fingers press harder into your ass. “You’re so fuckin’ wet.” One his hands moves to rub your clit and you sink your teeth into his neck.
“God, fuck me up Harry.” Both of his eyebrows raise. You clench around him and your second release comes.
He doesn’t give you time to recover before your face down on the bed, and he’s entering you from behind. He pulls your hips back. You move your ass back against him in sync with his thrusts so you can feel him as deep as you possibly can. You’re propped up on your elbows with your back arched.
“Alright?” He grunts.
“Yes! Don’t stop, you’re hitting it.” You grip at the blankets, making your knuckles go white. He was hitting your g-spot with such ferocity you knew you’d be coming again soon.
He has one hand on your hip and the other on the back of your neck. He was absolutely railing you, and it felt amazing. You had sex like this all the time when you were in college, before the anything bad happened to you.
The room was filled with the sound of skin slapping against skin. To put it bluntly, your cheeks were getting clapped. You could feel his balls slapping against you and it was making you go cross eyed.
“Harry!” You moan.
“Gonna come again?”
“Yes! Fuck, yes.”
“Go on, Y/N, come for me.”
Your back arches more and he grips the back of your neck so hard he’s yanking your back to him. One arm snaking between your breasts to hold you steady, and the other moving to rub your clit. Your head rolls back on his shoulder. You’re panting and gasping as you come. It was so intense your vision went blurry.
“Can I bend you over the bed?” He says, sinking his teeth into your shoulder. You gasp at the feeling.
“Yes.”
You both get off the bed, and he bends you over it. He slips back inside you with ease.
“Fuck.” He moans. He rocks in and out of you, his hands clinging to your hips.
“Harry, please come, fill me up.”
He thrusts quicken and grow sloppy. Your back arches when you feel his warm come sput inside you. He collapses on top of you when he finishes. You feel him pull out and his release drips down your thighs. His weight on you felt amazing, and you didn’t want him to leave. You whimper when he gets off of you.
“M’gonna get a rag to clean yeh up.” He says softly. He returns quickly and crouches behind you to clean you up. “They yeh go.” He throws the rag in the hamper. You stand to face him and your legs feel like jello. “You were amazing, you know that?” He kisses your forehead.
“M’so tired.” You rub your eyes like a child.
“Time for bed then, yeah?” It was only a little after eight.
“You don’t mind going to bed so early?”
“You’re finally home, of course I don’t mind.” He chuckles. “Go do your thing, I’m gonna get settled in.”
You walk into the bathroom and do your routine. You get into the bed and snuggle up to Harry. You take turns all night spooning each other. You both wanted to be held by the other. Eventually you passed out with his head on your chest. It was perfect.

Sharing a bed for the first time and spooning / hugging. Nothing too explicit but a lot of affection and comfort. I have this headcanon but I can't find any good fic about this
“You know, I’ve heard that the best way to warm up is body heat.”
Hope you enjoy this prompt anon!
***
The neighbours have noticed. The whole street has lost its central heating, the entire place is freezing apart from Aziraphale’s bookshop, and the neighbours have noticed. They aren’t pleased.
There are many cases in which Aziraphale has used his miracle abilities for selfish reasons, for his own comfort. There’s, of course, the whole situation with those nasty mafia type men wanting to buy his bookshop from him, who he’s… dealt with. There’s also all the customers he persuades not to buy any of the books, gently escorting them from the shop with an angelic smile till they find themselves outside, not knowing how they got there.
Today, there’s the central heating. It’s very easy, really, to keep the whole shop warm. And he might have been able to fix it for the whole street, but Heaven still aren’t very happy with him about Armageddon and he doesn’t want to attract unnecessary attention. And, what with the neighbours noticing how toasty his shop is and complaining and causing a fuss, it doesn’t seem worth the trouble.
So now, he’s lying in his bed, something he rarely uses- it also happens to have a duvet, which is helpful on this particular occasion- he’s wearing three jumpers, and he is still absolutely freezing. Lying in the foetal position beneath the sheets, he weighs up his options.
As far as he sees it, he only has one.
That is how, a twenty minute cab ride later, he finds himself at Crowley’s apartment building. After ringing the intercom, it takes a moment for anyone to answer. He dances a little jig on the spot, trying to keep warm, his breath pouring out of him in clouds of steam.
Then:
“What is it?”
“It’s me- sorry to disturb you, I’m- good Lord, it’s so cold-”
“It’s all this post-not-apocalypse business, angel, it‘s messed with the weather,” Crowley says, without missing a beat. “Come on up.”
The door buzzes, Aziraphale pushes it open, and as soon as he steps inside, he’s amazed by the difference. It’s so warm. It’s the warmest he’s been in hours, and it’s making his skin tingle. The elevator journey up to Crowley’s floor is quick, and as soon as the doors slide open, Aziraphale sees him- leaning against the doorframe, waiting.
“Why didn’t you text me you were coming over,” he grumbles.
“I still don’t like it, Crowley.” Referring to the iPhone that Crowley’s fobbed off on him, which he’s encouraging Aziraphale to use and is failing to do so monumentally. “Every time I try and open up the message thing, it thinks I’m clicking on something called iTunes, and then it starts playing music without warning, and it’s just horrible.”
Crowley steps back to let Aziraphale through. “You’d get the hang of it if you tried. Problem with you, angel, ‘s you’re too stubborn.”
Aziraphale ignores him, as he often does when he’s being insulted like this. Crowley’s flat is deliciously warm, and Aziraphale shrugs off his coat with a contented sigh.
“What brings you here this fine evening?” Crowley says in a jokingly formal tone.
“Central heating is buggered,” Aziraphale says, hanging up his coat by the door. He pulls off his scarf, thus shimmying off his bow tie a little, and Crowley appears fascinated by the action. “And you know how hard it is to perform any miracles these days.”
Crowley growls. “I don’t understand-” his whole body slumps with exhaustion and infuriation, “-Why they still won’t leave us alone. Didn’t we scare them enough? Why do they still care? Their plan went to shit, so why? Why?”
“Who knows, dear,” Aziraphale gently drapes the scarf over the coat stand hook, turns to measure Crowley- who’s sloped off to sit at his desk sulkily. Aziraphale watches him from the corridor, continues, “Better not to dwell on these things.”
“Better than being melted with holy water. Or burned with Hellfire.”
“Well, quite.”
Crowley is draped over his chair. Aziraphale stands and lingers. His nose is still cold. Actually, despite it being toasty in here, he thinks it might take a while for his body to reacclimatise. Crowley casts his golden eyes over towards him, where he hangs awkwardly in the sparse room.
“So you’re coming to mooch off me, are you?”
Aziraphale tuts. “No. I had rather thought that the offer was still open.”
“What offer?”He hesitates.
“The- well. The one you made in Tadfield. On the bench. Before we got the bus to London that was actually for Oxford.”
Something in Crowley’s expression shifts. And something in his shoulders, too- his whole body tenses a little. Like someone who’d been expecting a friend to walk into the room has suddenly found the Queen, asking if she can make herself at home.
“Right. Yes, right. You- hang on.”
Crowley launches himself from his chair, snaps his fingers, conjures sofas. Not the Spartan, minimalist type either- no, these are soft and tartan and very much Aziraphale’s style.
“Oh! Lovely. I’ve been telling you for months that you need a proper living room,” Aziraphale notes, rather pleased with how the place looks now. “See how much more homey it is?”
“Right,” Crowley replies, like he’s not really listening. “Um. So, you’re thinking of staying the night then?”
“Ah. Well, if you’d rather I didn’t-”
“Nope. S’fine. All fine, this is fine,” Crowley rushes. “This is fine. Uuuuuuuuuuuuuh- OK.”
And Aziraphale marvels at how suddenly flustered he is, spinning round in panicked circles before magicking blankets into existence, fetching a bottle of Rioja from his cupboards, turning side lights on and main lights off so the place looks warmer, less cave-like, and doing one thousand other things at once that makes Aziraphale soften.
He’s already soft enough, but this is all too endearing for Aziraphale to handle. He’s always taken pleasure from Crowley fussing over him. Right now, the sight of him bustling about the living room- it lifts something inside of him. Something in his chest lifts like bubbles rising to the surface of a still lake.
“Crowley. Crowley,” he repeats, when the demon doesn’t hear him. After the second time, Aziraphale receives a startled expression, brows raised and mouth hanging open a little. Surprised by the interruption. “My dear, you don’t have to do all this. I’m perfectly happy just being here. With.”
With you, he thinks. With you. Just say it, Aziraphale, you coward.
He doesn’t. He closes his mouth, stares at Crowley’s slack expression, then at the wall directly behind him.
“Thank you,” he eventually says. Adds a nervous smile. “For putting me up.”
“Don’t- don’t thank me, you don’t need to thank me, I offered, remember? Just…” Crowley hovers in the makeshift living room. His lips twist nervously, he stuffs his hands in his barely-there trouser pockets, kicks the sofa. “What is it that changed your mind?”
“How do you mean?”
“About staying over. You said. Back then, you said your side wouldn’t like it. Now?”
Aziraphale thinks about this. He looks above the cold apartment- warm physically, cold emotionally- and then at the sofas that have just been produced. Purely for Aziraphale’s comfort.
“I’m comfortable with you,” he says quietly, too quietly.
“What?”
“I’m- it’s nothing.”
It’s not nothing. Aziraphale’s been chasing after comfort for his whole existence, never really finding it except for in the company of one person. The one person he’s not meant to want to be with.
But-
“Well, even if you won’t accept my thank you, I’m offering it nonetheless,” Aziraphale ploughs on- Crowley frowns at him, but allows the change in subject. “So it’s there. If you want to accept it.”
After a pause, Crowley’s frown melts, and he shrugs. He collapses on the sofa. He puts on the telly.
“Alright, alright, don’t go on about it. Let’s see if there’s anything less depressing than the news on.”
***
It’s not that the sofa isn’t comfortable. It’s just that Aziraphale feels at a bit of a loose end.
He’d confidently assured Crowley that he could leave Aziraphale to it and retire for the night. But without his books, and in such a sparse flat, he’s sitting here feeling a little bit of a lemon.
He’s thought about sleeping. He tried, and it just didn’t seem like he’d drop off. He’s only just got the hang of this whole sleeping business anyway- he had a very successful nap after Armageddon, but it appears that he still needs practice. So, giving up, he’s resorted to looking out of the window and staring at the people down below, walking about Westminster in the cold. After a while even that gets a bit dull, so he sits on the sofa again and turns on the television, puts it on mute so as not to disturb Crowley.
And, amazingly, he’s still cold. Not because the apartment itself is cold, but because his body is still acclimatising. He sighs. And he thinks, as he stares at the silent television, that he may need a bath to warm up properly.
The sound of the door bursting open makes him jump out of his skin.
He turns around and looks at the door- it’s open, but no one’s there. “Crowley?”
“I can hear you sighing from all the way in here,” he calls out from his bedroom. “Just get in here.”
“Pardon?”
“You said you could entertain yourself, but you obviously can’t.”
Aziraphale stares about the living room, at a loss. Crowley’s acting as if there isn’t anything remotely intimate about him inviting Aziraphale into his room. Back on that bench in Tadfield, he’d been rather casual then too, offering to let him stay over. Aziraphale had been scandalised and tempted. He’s feeling similarly now.
This time, though, he’s leaning towards tempted.
And so, brushing himself off, straightening his cardigan uselessly, he stands up from the sofa and steps uncertainly into Crowley’s room.
He’s under the covers, laptop leaning against his raised knees. The room is equally sparse, except from a huge piece of modern artwork that- for all that Aziraphale can tell- is simply a large canvas painted black with a little white blob on it. He tilts his head and stares at it for a while.
“Planning on standing there all night?”
Aziraphale’s attention flits to Crowley. He’s sat there, peering at him over the edge of his laptop screen. Huge, yellow eyes. Watchful- and possibly a little bit guarded. He’s growing his hair out, too- it’s looking more like it did a couple of years ago, half tied up in a messy bun.
“Sorry?”
“Just. Don’t think standing and watching me from the doorway is going to be much more entertaining than whatever you were doing next door. You. You could.” His word catch in his throat. “You could actually get in.”
“A-ah. Yes.”
Aziraphale nods to himself, straightens his cardigan out again and walks purposefully towards the bed. When he gets there, he hesitates awkwardly- Crowley watching with wry amusement. He pulls the duvet back and covers himself, knees in the air. Back, uncomfortably, against the railing of the bed.
“Well done, you managed,” Crowley drawls.
“Stop it.”
“Just a bed, angel,” he adds, though the tone is too light.
“I don’t use them very often.”
“Yes, but, see, I was under the impression you still knew how they worked. Just then you looked like you’d forgotten the function of a duvet.”
Aziraphale shoots him a look, but Crowley’s doing something on his laptop. He seems pleased with himself.
Aziraphale straightens out his legs, wiggles his toes.
“It is very warm in here,” Aziraphale admits. “I can see why you like napping so much.”
“Like being warm,” he mumbles, continuing to do something on his laptop that Aziraphale can’t understand.
“What are you doing?”
Crowley sighs. “You’re so nosy.”
“No I’m- I beg your pardon. I thought you were meant to encourage curiosity, snake?”
He snorts. “I’m catching up on Love Island.”
“What’s Love Island?”
“You…” he wrinkles his nose. “You don’t want to know.”
“It sounds nice.”
“It’s- ha! It’s really not.”
“Oh. Is it one of yours?”
“Yep.”
“I see.”
Crowley looks at him. And there’s a strange expression on his face; strange in that it’s almost childlike. Wide eyed and vulnerable.
“I can watch it later,” he says, lips barely moving.
“Oh- no, don’t let me stop you-”
“Nah. Nah, you know what, I’ll watch it tomorrow,” he announces too loudly, closes his laptop loudly, drops it on the floor loudly. “Let’s just sit. Sit and talk. When’s the last time we talked? Just sat and talked.”
“I believe we do that almost every day. And have done for a few millennia now.”
“Yeah, but.”
Not like this, Aziraphale thinks, though he’s too scared to acknowledge that thought. No, he ignores it stoically like a dog being offered medicine, wrapped up in ham. He eats around the pill.
As it turns out, neither of them want to approach whatever direction that conversation was going. So they end up instead talking about nothing. Things that Aziraphale will forget about tomorrow, but are enjoyable in the moment. Eventually, he gives up on leaning against the railing and lies down, and then so does Crowley, until they’re laying side by side. It’s easy to imagine that they’re outside, on some grassy knoll, looking up at the stars. Or the clouds. Heaven.
“I think I’m only just about warming up, now,” Aziraphale sighs, after an extensive conversation about glacier cherries and which side invented them.
“Only just?” Crowley asks, aghast. “I laid out all those sodding blankets for nothing?”
“No, no, you- you did wonderfully, dear.” Aziraphale doesn’t miss the way Crowley turns his head away and stares at the ceiling with a deep set frown. “I just don’t think my corporeal form is used to being cold for so long. If ever I was cold before, I’d just…”
Aziraphale snaps his fingers. Nothing happens, of course; he’s being careful these days.
“Being human sounds rubbish, doesn’t it. Being cold all the time. Getting hungry. Doing exams and running out of phone battery.”
“It has its perks.”
“Yeah. Least we get to experience the good stuff.”
Aziraphale has been watching Crowley, lying on his back with his cheek pressed against the pillow. He’s been watching the way his hair is falling out of its loose ties, red curls around his face in tendrils. He also keeps finding little stray red hairs over his own cardigan; proof that this whole sharing-a-bed thing happened, in case he ever forgets (he never will).
And he thinks of all the things that Crowley has done for him over the millennia. Everything, from the Bastille to books to apocalypses to offering a warm place to stay. He thinks of how much Crowley gives, despite never receiving; thinks of his trial in Hell, and all the cruelty that he’s experienced from the beginning; thinks about how, actually, he understands how that feels. To not be good (or bad) enough, to not be worth the attention, to be treated so coldly. Aziraphale thinks that he understands, in many ways, how Crowley feels- and he thinks of what he can give back, after everything Crowley has done.
“You know, I’ve heard that the best way to warm up is body heat.”
It sounds ridiculous when he says it, not like him at all. But he knows that the only way he’ll be able to give Crowley a cuddle is by dressing it up. By making it seem like he’s asking for a favour, rather than giving Crowley what he deserves. Crowley will readily grant Aziraphale a favour, but will bear his fangs at the sight of a compliment. Aziraphale sees all the demon’s insecurities, and it’ll take every trick in the book to get past those defences.
Crowley’s head turns towards him. Eyes darting about his face. “Oh yeah?”
“Yes. So. If- that is, if you’re a willing participant, you could be that body.”
Crowley huffs a laugh. “An offer I can’t refuse.”
At first, it sounds like a joke. The mocking tone is there, but beneath it, there’s sincerity. It’s so genuine and affectionate and intimate- and that feeling returns in his chest, the happy-nervous bubbles rising to the surface.
“Right,” Aziraphale breathes. Watching the indescribably soft expression on Crowley’s face. “Well, that’s decided then.”
“Suppose it is.”
Now he’s suggested it, though, Aziraphale’s not brave enough to move. Luckily for him, Crowley is. Crowley’s always the braver one of the two, even if he’s technically the bad one.
And so Crowley lifts up an arm, a gesture for Aziraphale to lay his head on his chest. And he does, after a bit of shuffling. Crowley is bony and sharp, but there’s also an obvious landscape to him that makes it easy for Aziraphale to get comfortable- like a particularly chair shaped rock at the beach. Although it takes him a minute to find the right spot, and Crowley grumbles at him to stop moving and sort yourself out, angel. Eventually, though, they find themselves still. Cuddled up, Crowley’s arms around him The feeling of his chest rising and falling, breath tickling Aziraphale’s forehead. His smell. His hair, too close to be able to focus on properly- just a blur of red.
Aziraphale can’t believe his luck.
And at some point, he dozes off. They both do. Aziraphale knows this, because when he wakes up, he finds their roles reversed- they’re lying on their sides, and Crowley’s curled up beneath his chin. Their legs are tangled and so is Aziraphale’s heart.
He simply lies there. He lies there and brings in Crowley close, holds him. Embraces him, offers him all the softness, all the attention that he deserves. Wraps him up in his arms like he belongs there.

Captive - 9
Hi Readers - I hate to be like this, but if you love this story, please go here to subscribe.  I’m not intentionally neglecting the free content, it’s just getting overlooked right now.  My next book deadline in Nov15 (2020).  Normally, it’s just me writing for me and you get the benefit from that.  This time Podium Audiobooks has me under contract for second book in the Mistaken Universe.
Also - if you have the time - the occasional gentle reminder is appreciated.  Today’s post is brought to you by @dizzy-poncho who sent me some love and made my brain realized I hadn’t posted in a while.
The sound of someone pounding on the door was less than an ideal way to be awoken. As was the kitten, who had up to that point had been curled up behind her knees, screeching and bolting. Elly glanced at her watch, she had managed maybe four hours of sleep. The person on the other side of the door pounded again. Groaning, Ellly got to her feet, stomped over to the shop door and wrenched it open.
“What?!”
The church ladies were clearly taken aback by her tone. They stared at her in stunned horror.
“The sign says we’re closed for the day.” Elly announced.
“I just need-” Posy started to say, but Elly interrupted.
“You need to come back tomorrow.”
Posy narrowed her eyes, “I could just as easily order my yarn off the internet instead, you know!”
“I’m sorry you feel that way,” Elly replied sadly.  “Good day then.” She then closed the door on the women’s shocked faces. She leaned against the door for a minute and groaned before rallying the strength to head upstairs. On her way she nearly tripped over the reappeared kitten.
“Jesus, cat! Learn some self preservation!” Elly scolded as she scooped up the tiny thing. The kitten clamored up her arm to her shoulder and settled in for the trek upstairs. Elly tried to remember where she had stored Mitten’s cat stuff. In all likelihood she probably gave it away when she figured her cat had been eaten...Well she’d need to take the kitten for vaccinations anyways. She could pick up whatever she needed then. First thing on the list, a bell collar.
Well, that could be second. The first thing she needed was a name. Elly wondered for a moment if George would want any say in that. The thought could wait. First she needed a nap, or possibly a whole lot of coffee. Likely both.
Ben was just staggering out of the spare room when Elly got back to her apartment.  “Shit, boss, I am late getting started this morning.”
Elly sighed, “We are closed today.  How are you feeling?”
Ben shrugged, then rubbed his bleary eyes, “Slightly hung over, possible still a little drunk, and baffled that you have a dragon living in your basement.”  He looked at her face and frowned, “Did you sleep last night?”
Elly shook her head again, “Not really.  I napped.”
Ben winced, “Was that my fault?”
Elly shook her head again, “I was up too late and started getting creeped out by the sounds of the house settling.”  Ben really did look awful.  “Right!” she announced, making him wince again.  “Big glass of water, a couple of aspirin and back to bed.”
Bean groaned, “I would roll my eyes at you except that they feel like they might fall out of my head if I tried.”
Elly snickered under her breath and went to the kitchen for a glass.
“So tell me about George.”
She froze.  This was awkward.  “I think you should ask him about him.  Carefully. I don’t want to offend the dragon in my basement and neither do you.”  She filled the glass with water and handed it to him.  As Ben drank the water she pulled the aspirin out of the spice drawer.
“Does he breath fire?” he asked, lightly, trying to make a joke.
Elly pursed her lips as she considered that.  “More like belches fire, but he can adjust his body temperature to heat the building.”
“You are fucking kidding me!”  His eyes went wide as Elly shook her head.  “Holy shit.”  It was said reverentially, whispered almost like a prayer.  Ben took two steps to the left and sat heavily in one of the kitchen chairs.
Elly gave him a sympathetic look.  “I am honestly unsure if this conversation would be better once you are sober.  It could turn out to be worse.”  She hesitated for a moment before adding, “Are you planning on quitting?”
“Why would I quit?” Ben asked with a frown.
Elly frowned right back at him.  “Because there is a dragon in the basement.  And if you tell anyone, they will just think you’re delusional.”
Ben considered this.  “You won’t.  Think I’m insane, I mean.”
“I’m not really the best judge of sane, Ben.” She sounded sad when she said it.
There was a long moment of tension before the kitten stropped up against Ben’s leg, causing him to curse and stand up fast enough to knock over his chair.  It hit the ground with a clatter and the kitten bolted.
“Was that Muffin?” he mumbled, looking sheepish as he picked up the chair.
Elly frowned, “You mean Mittens?  No.  George brought it home last night.”
“Like a present?  That’s sweet.”  After a moment, Ben added “And a little weird. Where did George get a kitten?”
“He said someone killed its mom and littermates.  He was vague on the details and I didn’t push.  He would have told me if he wanted me to know.”
Ben shivered, “Yeah.  I was picking up my spice delivery at the post office last week and overheard the Debbie from the pound saying it was less killing cats and more a plaque of cat mutilations.”
Elly went very still.  When Ben finally looked up and met her eyes, she whispered, “Are we talking disemboweling here?”
Ben blinked and stared at her in horror before nodding.  “How did you know that?”
Elly spun on her heels and fussed at the sink, giving it a wipe before putting the kettle on the hob.  “George was unusually circumspect about what had happened. I couldn’t figure out why, he isn’t usually shy.”
Ben snorted, “I can see that about him.”  He watched her face, it was easy to see the wheels turning, but he couldn’t figure out what she was thinking.  “If someone is hunting cats, it might be safer to take … um. . . her?  Or him?  Whatever, take the kitten to a vet a couple of towns over.  If you are keeping it, I mean.”
Elly gave him a puzzled look, “Of course I’m keeping it.”
Ben fought a smirk, “You sure?  Have you named it yet?”
Elly considered this.  “Nyx, goddess of night.”
Ben snicked, “Really?  What if its a boy?”
Elly rolled her eyes, “Ben, I’m not going to enforce gender roles on a kitten.”
Ben just shook his head.  “Fine, but when we go to the vet, you get to drive.”

The vet proclaimed Nyx to seem perfectly healthy and old enough for vaccination and FIV testing.    They booked her in for a spay in two weeks.  Next stop was the pet store.
Ben picked out an adjustable purple collar and neoprene cat harness.  Elly gave him a look.  “What?  You can harness train cats it you get them young enough.  I follow Suki Cat on instagram!”
Elly blinked, “Huh.  I never would have picked you for a cat person.”
He smirked, “Stupid cat videos is what the internet is for.”
“Really?  Because I suspect most people would say porn,” Elly teased, then was surprised when he blushed.  She managed to fight the urge to comment on that, and while she was wrestling with her morals, Ben left to go look at cat carriers.  Nyx meowed and tightened her tiny claws into Elly’s shoulder where she was sitting.
“I’m sorry!” she blurted out.  “That was rude.”
Ben just waved her away.  “More unexpected. I haven’t seen that side of you. You are very, um, professional.”  He didn’t make it sound like a compliment.  When he realized she was frowning slightly, Ben flashed her a smile.  “You are a great boss, Elly.”
Elly coughed, “I’m not actually your boss, you know.”
Ben blushed again.  That was new.  “Any preference on cat food?”
Realizing he was trying to change the subject, Elly turned to face with wall of food.  “Wet food for cats.  I’ve never had one do well on kibble.”
“Did, um, your other cats sit on your shoulder like that?”
“Nope, this is a first, but she seems to like it up there.”
They watched each other awkwardly for a moment.  Elly broke first.  “Ben?  Are you OK?”
Ben quickly turned his head to the right and scoped out the litter boxes.  “Ina wasn’t that fun to work with,” he admitted.  “Most of the time you are.  Weird, but fun.  I’m starting to understand where the weird comes from.  And now I know that too.  How do you go through your day knowing something like that?”
Elly sighed.  “Ben -  Look, tell me about yeast.”
“What?”
Elly rubbed her eyes, making Nyx meow and dig her little claws into Elly’s sweater.  “You told me that yeast for bread used to come from beer, then the beer yeast changed and there was a shortage, right?”
Ben frowned, “Yeah, brewers switched from top fermenting to bottom fermenting and that process didn’t make the byproduct that bakers use.  But what does that have to do with George?”
“How many people do you think know that?”
“Elly!  It doesn’t matter!  People knowing or not knowing about yeast doesn’t actually matter!”
Elly just raised an eyebrow, “How does knowing about George matter?  Yeast is way more practical on a day to day basis.”  Ben stared at her like she was insane.  Elly kept talking, “Most people, including me, would consider baking bread or spinning wool or knitting a weird and slightly esoteric hobby.  George is just one more weird bit of trivia that you now know.”

Could you please do the demon brothers finding MC's sketchbook being full of sketches of them? Love you writing! ⊂((・▽・))⊃
Sorry, I’ve been taking forever, but I’m finally in the mood to write and it turned out I had this mostly done so ya yee! I hope you enjoy it!
Lucifer:
Lucifer doesn’t snoop, it’s not in his nature. But when he saw you had left your sketchbook out and in the common area, he couldn’t help but stroll by casually and take a glance.
He was taken back when he saw sketches of him, he felt his face heat up but was quick to leave the room because he didn’t want to be caught.
He wouldn’t confront you about it either, he would wait to see if you came to him first.
He wanted to learn more about your drawings and see more of it, what he didn’t expect how often you actually left the sketchbook around and open.
So, he made it a habit to always walk by it and check to see if you left it in the common room. Each time he walked by it was a new sketch of him, this time it looked like you had started it during a council meeting and he was stunned how you captured him, but you also had pictures of his eyes, nose and lips scattered around the page as well.
What he didn’t expect was for you to come in and give an awkward cough behind him. He turned around wide-eye and felt himself blush when he saw you standing there.
You were quick to scramble and grab your sketchbook
Mammon:
Mammon is a known snoop when Levi and he were in your room waiting for you. He couldn’t help but look through your belongings, Levi thought it was to see if you had any valuables, but it was to try to learn more about you.
He knew you were into drawing in your sketchbook; he had seen your work in your sketchbook during class or lunch. You rarely sat near him when you drew in your sketchbook.
He didn’t expect to see sketches of him in the book when he finally opened it. He flushed immediately; it was different poses. Him in class when you sat behind him or off to the side. Or when you attended student council meetings, old photoshoots. You had sketches of him smiling, laughing and even blushing.
Levi noticed instantly and tried to look at the sketchbook, but Mammon was quick to keep it out of reach and thankfully that’s when you entered so Levi stopped and Mammon could set your sketchbook, hoping it was unnoticed.
The next time he caught you drawing, he would stroll over and ask what you were drawing and when you blushed and was quick to cover the sketch, he felt like he had won. He would beg and plead with you to let him see it.
It was another sketch of him, but this one tugged at Mammon heart, it was his Demon form, you had added color to this one and it was gorgeous, and Mammon felt his heart stuttered.
Mammon was flushed and speechless, he knew it was filled with sketches of him, but he couldn’t help but react the same way.
“You know, you could always ask. I could um pose for you?” Mammon finally stuttered, looking away from you.
“Sure,” your voice was high pitched, and your face had turned red.
So later you would meet up in his room and you both nervously stood and looked at each other not knowing what to do.
“How do you want me?” Mammon asked and eyes widened at the implication.
You would gain some confidence and ask if you could draw him shirtless.
He agrees and stays flushed the whole time, from the tips of his ears into his chest, you made sure to include it.
 Leviathan:
Levi didn’t mean to snoop, but you left your sketchbook in his room after an anime marathon
At first, he saw sketches of the anime characters, seeing the detail and how beautiful they looked
His face flushed when he saw the first sketch of him
It was him curled up, completely focused on the anime
How his eyes were wide open, engrossed and his mouth agape
He didn’t hear you knock or crack his door open
You were mortified to see he had your sketchbook in his hands
Levi? You said quietly, your voice was slightly shaky
He jumped and flinched at the sound of your voice, slamming the book shut
He immediately started to stutter out countless apologizes
While you were embarrassed you reassured him it was okay, but you wished he asked
He shyly commented on how good your work was
Which caused you to give him a beaming smile
You offered to draw him Zaramela or Henry 1.0
He frames it and keeps it in his room and smiles whenever he sees it
Satan:
It ended up in possession by accident
You both were in the library
You left and when Satan left, he gathered all the books, including your sketchbook
Later he would go through the pile books
He froze when he saw it
He knew the right thing would be to return it immediately
But instead, he decided to hold onto it
Gave you a reason to come see him
He decided he would look at it
He grabbed the book he was looking for and went to read it
But the thought of looking in your sketchbook kept nagging him
A small peak wouldn’t harm anything right?
The first few pages must have been of the human world and your friends
He looked over your friends, how brightly they smiled
Some of their names were written down
And it seemed you let them write and doodle beside their picture
He smiled at them, he felt like he learned so much more about you then
He decided to remember to ask about your human friends
He got engrossed though and couldn’t stop flipping through the pages
Then it transitioned to Devildom
You drew flowers you saw writing down the names
The next page made it freeze
It was a sketch of himself
It was during a student meeting
You captured his scolding face; he felt the urge to stop there but continue at the same time
The next page was called Satan Study
It was different sketches of his eyes, nose, face shape, his smile and his hair
He snapped the book shut and threw it as if it burned him when he heard a knock and you called out to him
“Have you seen my sketchbook? I had it when we were studying together.
He quickly moved around his room, acting to search for it in his piles of books before going where he threw it
He gave it to you with a slight blush and sent you on your way
 Asmodeus:
Asmodeus saw you draw constantly, he needed to see what you were drawing
Maybe it was mischievous to steal your sketchbook
If you questioned him, he would say it was in his demon nature
He went to his room to look at it in private
He started to flicker through the notebook and was thrilled to see drawings of him
Of course, you chose him to be your subject, he was gorgeous
Couldn’t help but a little turned on, he is a narcissistic
He took pictures and posted it to Devilgram, tagging you in it
That’s when you knew he took your sketchbook
You had mixed emotions of being livid and embarrassed
That was your private drawing, rough sketches that were messy
It wasn’t meant to be shared
You immediately marched to his room to get it back
You snatched it from him, without any words
You didn’t want to talk to him, while you were mad you didn’t want to say anything you would regret
Asmodeus would be dense and not understand your emotions and wouldn’t think to apologize
A week of silence and avoiding him, had him coming to you and asking what is wrong
“You really don’t know?” you couldn’t help but feel hurt
Instead of making him guess, you let him in your room and sit and your bed
And you talked about your feelings about the events
When it clicked he felt bad
He told you he just wanted to brag about you
Beelzebub:
You were drawing in the cafeteria, sitting across from Beelz
You seemed engrossed in the drawing but you and Beelz were used to just keeping each other company so he didn’t mind the silence
Lucifer ended up calling you away for a meeting, that you completely forgot about that
In your rush to leave, you left your sketchbook
Beelz called to you but you were already gone
He grabbed it and treated it as it was a baby
He knew how important it was to you
But he was curious about what drawing you were so engrossed in
Flipping through the pages finding different moments you captured
He froze when he saw sketches of him
It was page after page
Of different moments
While he was working out, eating, laughing or smiling
He was so surprised he dropped the food he was holding
He was shocked and immediately tried to clean it up
But it was too late, and he stained the page
He felt horrible
When he saw you, he wasn’t going to tell you, but how you brightened up when you saw he had it
He confessed and looked close to tears
You were grateful he apologized and quickly looked at the damage
It wasn’t on any of the sketches and was only limited to that page
So, you didn’t mind too much because nothing was ruined
He still offered to buy you food anyways to apologize
Belphegor
You left the sketchbook in the planetarium
He napped while you were drawing
He figured you were drawing the night sky
Something you often talked about how often you loved it
But when he saw a sketch of his sleep form instead, he had mixed emotions
How you managed to capture his features and he was surprised he looked peacefully when he slept
He started going through the other pages
He froze when he saw a drawing of him in his demon form
Unlike the sleeping drawing, he looked angry and evil
You had written a single sentence on the page
“When do the nightmares stop?”
Belphegor immediately recognized that this must have been how he looked when he killed you
His gut twisted, he had changed so much towards you
But you still had your fears
You were having nightmares because of him
When he gave you back your sketchbook
He pulled you into an uncharacteristic hug
Without mentioning the drawing
He promised to you he would keep you safe and never hurt you on purpose again.

[01] MASCARA
Tumblr media
I am still dwelling in self pity over a break up with my super hot ex-boyfriend, Sehun when my best friend decided to give me a replacement mascara to make up for all the loss that I've had from crying over that jackass (as referred by Byun Baekhyun himself) for the past one week. It was a normal gift to be quite honest, but little did I know, that one normal gift is the thing that made me realize just how drop dead gorgeous my best friend is. And to Baekhyun, that three boxes of Fenty Beauty mascara are the same exact thing that have made him realized that even after years, he has never lost his feelings for me.
🍰   pairing: baekhyun x OC
🍰   characters: baekhyun, OC, sehun, yeri, irene
🍰   genre: what else if not FLUFF 😭
🍰   aus: university student! baekhyun, best friends to lovers.
🍰   contains:  Playing with makeup with some cute music as the bgm but   definitely not in this chapter :>
🍰   word count: 3K
― note: this is my first time cross-posting my fictional work on this platform. (I guess), posting this chapter will help me to understand Tumblr's algorithm better 😔✋ oh and fyi, the main idea of this oneshot was actually inspired by my dream 😭😭 Yes, I dreamt of Baekhyun in the midst of a pandemic and during an online semester like I’ve had nothing better to do :)
p/s: let me know if you want to be tagged for the next chapter.
Tumblr media
Best friends.
That is the perfect term to describe and explain my relationship with Baekhyun. We used to live in the same apartment complex and his mother used to babysit me while my parents went to work. The babysitting lasted for almost six years (from when I was still a wee child at the age of 7 and until I turned 13) before his family moved to Incheon from Seoul. Even though we didn’t get to meet as often as we used to, our friendship is still intact and growing strong until now, when we are both a university students.
It was fun and easy being friends with Baekhyun. He may be older than me by two years, but I have never mind the fact because befriending Baekhyun was so, so much easier than befriending his little sister, Yeri. Although we are of the same age, I’m not close with Yeri because she used to think that my presence was a nuisance to her family; stealing her one and only brother from her, stealing her mom’s love and affection away from her, and she hated it when her dad brought back matching toys or playset for us to play together. And yes, of course we didn’t play together. To conclude my relationship with Yeri, we don’t hate or loathe each other but we have come to agree with the fact that we just don’t click with each other very well.
Presently, it is a Friday evening and I am laying on the couch at my family house’s living room. I am beat from living off from only few hours of sleep and a lot of coffee for the past two days because I was trying to perfect my assignment that holds 30% weightage for one of the subjects that I’m currently taking as a second year university student majoring in Beauty and Hairdressing studies. And now that I have submitted the assignment, it feels like all the burdens have been lifted from my shoulders and all that I want to do is sleep. I shift a few times on the long couch, trying to find a comfortable position to take a nap. I don’t want to sleep in my room just yet, afraid that my parents might forget to take the house key with them and I don’t hear their knockings if I sleep in my room. That, and I’m just too scared to sleep in my room knowing that I’m all alone in this house. It only feels like a few minutes have passed since I fell asleep before the incessant ringing of my phone wake me up. I grumble in my hazy state and reach for my phone on the coffee table.
“Hello?” I mutter into the phone without even looking at the caller id or even opening my eyes, sleep already calling back to me.
There’s a small chuckle coming from the other side of the line, the caller’s voice so deep and warm; alarming me about who he is. My lips automatically curl to form a smile just by hearing his velvet voice. There’s a few beat of silence before he starts to speak to me. “Did I wake you up from your nap?”
“Yes, yes you did.” I jokingly say with a pout while putting the call on speaker before I put my phone down to sit up from my laying position. “I’m so tired, Sehun. Mrs. Kwon has finally approved of my dreamy makeup look sketching after the fourth consultation. I’ve just submitted the assignment too. But anyway, why are you calling me? Are you done with labs?”
Sehun fakes a cry and says “My poor baby. But hey, at least you’re done with it now, right?” I hum, enjoying the comfort that my boyfriend is giving me. “And yes, I’m done with lab and my basketball practice too.” Sehun says with a teasing voice. “Can you come down for a while, princess? I need to talk to you about something.”
I look at the wall clock and frown. It’s nearly 7pm now and I’m too lazy to change out from my comfortable lounge wear. “Now?”
“Yes, now. I’m already waiting in front of your apartment complex.”
Still feeling lazy to change my clothes, I try my luck again. “Can you come upstairs then, Sehun? My parents are not home yet. They went out to have dinner with my father’s colleague.”
There’s another beat of silence coming from the other side of the line before Sehun sighs into his phone. I couldn’t decipher whether his sigh is rather affectionate or because he’s just tired from a long day at university. But I guess whatever that he’s going to talk to me about is pretty serious from the way he responds to my invitation.
“I can’t do that, baby. I need to tell you something without having to face the possibility of your parents walking in on us and disrupting our privacy. I’m also kinda in a rush to meet my friends later.”
I pout. “Okay, I’ll be down in a few minutes. See you, Sehun.” I say and after receiving a hum from him, I end the call while getting up from the couch and walk to my room to get change into something more appropriate to wear. I choose to wear Sehun’s grey hoodie that he has given me before and a legging. The hoodie is two times bigger than my own size so it’s really comfortable too. I grab my phone and lock the door before going down. Once I arrive down at the lobby, I can already see Sehun’s parked car a few metres from the apartment’s entrance. I walk closer to his Audi and knock softly on the window. Sehun is busy playing game on his phone that he gets startled by my soft knocking. He then unlocks his car and I get into the passenger seat next to him.
“Hi,” Sehun smiles at me and scans my face, his head tilting bit by bit the more he spends his time analyzing my countenance. Sehun then crinkles his nose. “Damn baby, you really look super exhausted. I’m sorry for waking you up.”
“It’s okay since I need to wait for my parents to come home too.” My reply is cut short because my mind is being clouded with the smell of freshly baked dessert in his car. I turn half of my body in Sehun’s direction before I turn my head to look at his back seat. I see that there’s a white transparent box of brownies from the bakery that I frequently go to and a big bouquet of my favourite red and pink roses. I turn my head back to look at Sehun and grin up at him. “Are those for me?”
Sehun grins back at me before he takes my hand into his big one. “Of course those are for my favourite girl. You can even share the brownies with your parents too.” His other hand stretches behind him to grab both the flower bouquet and the box of brownies before he places them in my lap.
“These are my present for you because you have been such an amazing girlfriend for me for the past six months. Now, let me talk about the thing that I have wanted to tell you.”
Tumblr media
Sehun has broken up with me.
Before this, it only took him 15 minutes to gather his courage to express and explain his feelings for me and now, it only took him 10 minutes to tell me that he wants to break up with me. Because apparently, his basketball coach has strictly forbidden him and the rest of his teammates from dating to ensure that their performance will not be affected if anything were to happen to the relationship. It was an absurd reasoning, I know that. But how can I not agree when Sehun has reasoned with me so well. He is on a full basketball scholarship so he must give his very best to basketball and to his major studies too. So yes, I agreed to break things up with him (although a part of me is hoping that we could still work things out).
After I went back to my house, I just sat idly on the couch thinking about what have just happened. There are three thoughts that are currently running through my minds and I could not just brush away this three facts:
My hot and athletic boyfriend has broken up with me.
 I still love him
Should I wait for the both of us to graduate so we can be together again? But that will take two more years.
My parents came home at half past nine in the evening with take-out food for me. I only thanked my parents and proceed to eat my dinner in silence before asking for their permission so that I can leave for my room first. I even told them that they can eat the brownies on the coffee table because I don’t feel like eating it. As a result, my parents got worried over me because they could sense that something is wrong with me and Sehun from looking at the abandoned bouquet of roses and the box of brownies on the coffee table.
Now that I’m all alone in my bedroom, the realization just hit me like a bullet train. I feel suffocated. I feel restless. I feel like there is nothing else that is worse than this breakup. But boy I was wrong, there is something that is even worse than this shitty feeling that I’m having right now.
Because at half past 10 pm, my phone gets bombarded with a lot of messages and screenshots from my close friends in university. And the content of the messages were all the same, two screenshots of Irene’s latest instagram stories with one of it being a picture of hers and a man’s legs on a bed, watching Netflix together and the other picture being the same exact white box of brownies and a bouquet of red and pink roses like what I have gotten earlier. The caption in the story was:
“First date. Thank you, my sweet boy @oohsehun”
And that was the exact moment when I feel like the world has crashed on me. I feel like I could not breathe with all this new information that I just get. I need to save my sanity and I need to see the person who understands me better than anyone else. I hurriedly change my clothes before telling my parents that I need to see that person because of an emergency. My parents allowed me to go out despite it being so late at night, partly because they’ve seen how shocked and restless I am, and partly because the person that I’m going out to see is my best friend.
Byun Baekhyun.
Baekhyun has just returned home from his daily night run when he saw me standing in front of his door. He was shocked, of course. Because I have never really went to his apartment without noticing him beforehand. But upon seeing my blood-drained face, he ushered me inside before he rushed through his shower so that he can talk to me. After he’s done showering, he brought me to sit across of him at the small dining table that’s just enough for two people. And when he was seated too, he only crossed his arms and placed them on table. He doesn’t open his mouth, but his eyes are demanding me to open up. And I was right because in the next second, Baekhyun is ready to be on his best friend’s duty.
“Okay, spill it now. Every single thing.”
Tumblr media
“You know what? Just cry.”
“Why are you asking me to cry?” I ask, annoyed that Baekhyun has been telling me the same thing ever since I was done telling him what happened. Baekhyun was also shocked to know just how much of an asshole Oh Sehun was. But he then said that I should have at least expected this since Sehun is a popular guy at university.
“Because,” Baekhyun uncrosses his arms on the table and leans back on the chair. He closes his eyes before continuing. “It’s not healthy for your mental health, you know? You don’t have to put on a strong facade in front of me. Acting like this when you’re hurting deep inside will only hurt you even more. I’ve seen you cry before. Multiple of times too, if I may add.”
I brush his words off and only stay silent. My eyes roam around his grey and red themed apartment, taking in the minimalistic interior of the house that belongs to the 24 year old man sitting across of me. He has a grey coloured two-seater sofa, his coffee table is full with his macbook, ipad, some of his still opened law text books, some documents and stationaries. His television that was originally brought from his family home is connected to the internet and his playstation 4 is still plugged into the television too.
When was the last time I visited his house? I couldn’t recall the memory but I know that it has been quite a while. Ever since I started dating Sehun, I only met Baekhyun at our university or anywhere else that is not his house because Baekhyun thought it was a little inappropriate for me to go to his house since I have a boyfriend. My little inspection of his house was interrupted after a short while when Baekhyun sighs a little loudly. I focus my eyes on him now and shrug my shoulder.
“Are you even listening to what I’m saying?” Baekhyun asks. “I don’t want you to get anymore hurt by whatever that jackass is doing or about to be doing after this. I know how much you like him and how much you cherish the relationship that you’ve had with him. It’s completely normal to be hurting by this news and it’s definitely okay to cry too. Cry until your eyes get swollen, cry until you fall asleep and wake up feeling a lot better than tonight.”
I bite my inner cheek and shake my head. Although I admit that I am hurt deep inside, I refuse to cry. Not because I have too much pride in me but because of these mixed feelings bubbling inside. Hurt from being lied and cheated on by the person whom I thought I was going to have a long lasting relationship with. Confused because out of all people, I didn’t expect Sehun and Irene to be together. Irene was my seatmate and one of my assignment group mates throughout the whole of last semester where I had taken an elective subject not related to my major. Appalled because this would have not happened if I hadn’t asked Sehun to join our group celebration dinner for getting an A last semester.  These feelings just keep on brewing inside me and it was too much to comprehend, leaving me to not be able to even shed a tear.
“I don’t know, Baekhyun.” I say while standing up from the dining chair.“I thought I should tell you about this and feel better, but I still feel like I have just gotten hit by a car. I guess breakup really sucks.” I laugh soullessly. “Hey, do you mind if I crash here tonight? I’m too tired to drive again.” I don’t wait for Baekhyun to respond because I straight away walk to his couch, not realizing that Baekhyun has also stand up from his chair to follow me.
I’m only a few steps away from the couch when I feel a soft tug on my left hand, turning me around before I am being pulled into a bear hug. My eyes widen in shock because my best friend has never hugged me so closely and so tightly like this. But his embrace is just so perfect and warm and very much comforting that I can feel all these mixed emotions inside of me are swirling all over the place before I feel something triggering the most wanted reaction from me. And just like his warm embrace, my dams of tears exploded.
“I really like him, Baekhyun.” I say with tears streaming down my face. Baekhyun doesn’t say anything but lets me cry on his shoulder. I take a long time to stop crying and when I am slowly sniffling, that is when Baekhyun starts speaking.
“That wasn’t so hard, wasn’t it?” He asks while stroking my long hair. “You silly girl, you’ll feel a lot better after this. And oppa will make sure that jackass will regret doing what he did to you.”

i know all of us read for an escape, and that is especially true for fanfiction, so the only thing i will say here is this: i am sorry that elected officials have bastardized the phrase “thoughts and prayers” because i believe it is a sacred one. please know i am entirely sincere when i tell you i have been thinking of and praying for you all, especially my black american readers. i hope this grants you few minutes’ reprieve from the pain of the world. i wrote it for you, dear reader.

February 8 - Year of
Just as Nesta was finishing her preparations for dinner, Emerie knocked on the door. Nesta untied the apron she had donned before going to open it.
"Hello," she said in greeting, and not Happy birthday, even though that was why Emerie was coming over.
"Hi," Emerie answered.
"Dinner's ready. Come in."
Nesta was not naturally inclined towards cooking, and in their little cottage under the Wall there hadn't been much to cook with, but here she was learning. Sometimes she and Cassian even cooked together now.
"This looks nice," Emerie said, inspecting the duck carefully.
"I've learned, all right?" Nesta said, remembering the first and last time she had attempted to cook for Emerie. This time she had used Cassian's recipes.
"Where is he, anyway?" Emerie asked.
Nesta shrugged, although she knew. Whenever he left with a vague I have to go, it was to Velaris.
"That looks loved," she said, nodding towards a book on the countertop. She frowned. "Haven't you read that already?"
"It's children's stories. You're supposed to read them again."
"Or children are," Emerie said, stifling a grin as she poured herself some water.
Nesta scowled. "Cassian still likes them." They had even read some together. Nesta bit her lip tightly, trying not to think of the evenings spent in the living room, her reading aloud some of his childhood favorites.
"You have a great voice, you know that?" he said to her quite suddenly, interrupting what he had claimed was the best story in the book.
She had scowled at him then as she was scowling at Emerie now. For Nesta's voice had been described as many things: shrill, thin, even grating, once, by some horrible girl from her old village—but never great. "Shut up," she had snapped.
His eyes had widened and his arms went up in surrender. "What? I mean it!"
"You do not."
"I do! It's...clear. Soothing. And sometimes..." he moved his head from side to side, trying to think of the right descriptor. "Lyrical."
"Lyrical?" That was certainly a first.
"Yeah." His face had split into a grin. "Do you sing?"
"No," she said, forcing her head back into the book. "Don't interrupt me, or I won't read anymore of this Nicholas thief..."
"Nicholas, the Thief Who Stole the Night! And fine. Keep going."
But perhaps some of the memory bled onto her face, judging by Emerie's smirk.
"How do you normally celebrate?" Nesta said, quickly changing the subject.
Emerie's brown face fell flatly. "I don't, really."
"Well...how do people here normally celebrate?"
She shrugged. "Like this, more or less."
"Duck?"
"No, doing what they like. With...you know. People."
For the second time that evening, Nesta forced the flush out of her cheeks. A person knowing that they are one of your two friends isn't nearly so miserable when you are also one of their only friends.
---
December 23 - 4 years after
The children face leaving Velaris to go home to Sugar Valley with the same excitement they greet everything, but Elain is fighting back tears.
"We'll see each other again soon," Nesta reminds her, slightly exasperated.
"No, I know," she says. "I'll just miss you."
"You can come and visit whenever you want."
"Well, I will." She wipes her eyes. "I'll move in with you."
"Don't sound so miserable," Nesta says, laughingly.
"I just want to be with my whole family all of the time." Elain rubs at her face again, and, without much warning, throws herself at Nesta.
"Ugh—all right, Elain...yes, I'll miss you too..."
"Come on, Elain," Feyre says, walking towards them, Avery on her hip. "Give her some air."
"I'll miss you," she says again, muffled against Nesta's neck
"I won't," Nesta tells her, making both her sisters laugh. She hides a smile.
"You know," Elain says, finally taking a step back, "you don't look like you had a very relaxing vacation."
No, she'd wager she did not. Because after falling asleep in bed with Cassian on Solstice Eve, she had not managed to sleep at all for the two nights after that. Perhaps being back home in her own room would help grant her some peace of mind.
"There's not really a holiday from being a mother," she says instead.
Elain's eyes light up, looking over eagerly at Feyre. "We could give you one! We could take care of the kids for a few days and you could have some time with—for yourself! Or..." she says, backtracking at the look of alarm on Nesta's face.
"No, no, it's fine," Nesta says, bringing up her hands. "I just don't think I'm ready for that yet."
"We're here when you are," Feyre says, putting Avery down and throwing an arm around Elain.
"Mummy, I want to stay with my aunts," Avery says, tugging on her hand.
"They'll come visit soon. Where are your brothers?"
"Cass and Rhys have got them...oh, here they come."
"All set?" Rhysand asks when they reach them.
Nesta narrows her eyes at the extra bag he's holding.
"Is it all right if I join you?" Cassian mumbles in her ear, appearing at her side.
Well, she doesn't have much choice now, does she? "Sure."
"I just want to spend some more time with you all while the Illyrians are still celebrating."
This mollifies her slightly. "Of course."
After more tearful goodbyes from Elain—the children all seem upset to leave her, too, which softens Nesta's heart in a way she had not expected—Feyre and Rhysand take hold of them all and they are finally home.
"Elain and I will come soon," Feyre says, squeezing her tightly. "Thanks so much, Nesta. We loved having you in Velaris."
"Bye, Aunt Feyre."
"Bye, Aunt Feyre!"
"Oh, goodbye, you three!"
"We hope to have you again, Nesta," Rhysand says, the picture of politeness.
But Nesta doesn't think she will ever be able to look at him without glaring. Still, she maintains the same civility he does. "Thank you."
And she doesn't even snarl at the cooed "Bye, Uncle Rhys!"
"It's been a long few days," Nesta says. "We're going to take a nap."
"I'll get them down," Cassian says, picking up all three of them in one swoop, making them shriek with laughter.
"Thanks," she calls after him as he wrangles them up the stairs.
She supposes he's given her some time to herself, but there's stuff to do. She's got so much new crap she needs to put away...and what on earth is she supposed to feed Ollie's new caterpillar?
Half an hour later, when Cassian sees her sitting at the kitchen table scrawling out a list, he laughs.
"I thought you'd take a shower or something."
"I have so much to do," she says, rubbing her eyes.
"Those authors you found?"
"They've given me some samples...I need to decide what I'm giving to Adil." And she was incredibly busy trying to avoid him, of course.
"Well...when can we talk?"
Nesta looks up at him. She sighs. "Now." She pushes away the work in front of her.
Cassian perks up, obviously not having expected this.
She opens her mouth, but he holds up a hand.
"Actually, do you mind if I go first?"
Nesta blinks. "Sure."
He gives her a reassuring, relaxed grin and pulls out a chair. "I really wanted to thank you for agreeing to come for Solstice. It was the best of my life."
She can't stop her lips from tugging upwards. "The children enjoyed it as well."
"I hope you did, too."
Her slight smile falters, and she moves to pull back. He puts his hands over hers. "Nesta, I know that you're still hurting. But we've come a long way since a few months ago, and I want to keep that. And grow stronger. I don't want to do anything to jeopardize what we have now...and what I want us to be."
This is far too confrontational—
"I don't want to scare you off," he says softly, "but I don't ever want to leave things up to interpretation with you." He pauses for a moment, perhaps not even noticing how he traces her fingers with his. "I want us to be a family."
That isn't fair. Of course she wants that. What's the alternative? That her children come from—from a broken home? "A family can be many things." The hoarseness of her voice is unfamiliar to her.
"I know that." A short laugh escapes him, probably as he thinks of his own makeshift family in Velaris. "But I also know what I want ours to look like."
Is he going to spell it out for her, in the name of loose interpretations? She hopes he doesn't. She's not ready for that, she can't hear him say it.
"It was perfect, wasn't it?"
"What was perfect?" she asks blankly.
"That night. The two of us in one room, the three of them in another."
She flinches. "That was..."
"A mistake, I know. But it still happened." He still hasn't moved his hand. She hasn't moved hers either. He squeezes it tightly. "I know you liked being under the same roof, too. Let's just...not lose our momentum. Let's keep going. This pace is fine for me."
What if it's too fast for her, though? Or her children? Or—and this might be worse—too slow for them?
Sometimes she feels like she never got out of the Cauldron. Like she's still drowning.

January 1 - 1 year after
The last of the Solstice decorations were being taken down when Nesta walked to the post officer, the letter she was twirling in her hands drawing far less attention than the ever-growing bump under her gown.
Everyone was staring at it. And—ugh—it was only going to get bigger, wasn't it? Amorette had told her that a triplet pregnancy could result in gaining anywhere north of forty-five pounds. And also to stop referring to her belly as it.
There's no easy way to write to someone I know I never intended to speak to you again, but I changed my mind because I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant, by the way, because I don't know how fae pregnancy works, apparently. Which I guess means I shouldn't be having sex, but well, at least I've stopped now. Write back!
After hours of writing and crumbling up parchment and throwing it against the wall, Nesta had settled on the more gentle:
Cassian,
Write back.
Nesta.
Nesta knew perfectly well how pathetic that was, but after the way she left, she couldn't say anything else. She didn't want him to come here. She didn't want to go there. They'd have to meet in some neutral territory.
Announcing her pregnancy, she believed, was not something she could do in a letter. She had to do it face to face. Not only because she thought, well, he deserved being told that way, but...
Because of her reasoning for almost everything: she was a coward. That was the truth of it.
She had left him, and now he had the opportunity to leave her right back. Pregnant and alone. Delaying his finding out was delaying the possibility of that happening.
So even though she hated herself for sending that letter, she knew it was the only option she could bring herself to go through with.
December 23 - 4 years after
After playing at the park and dinner, putting the children down for the night, Nesta asks Cassian if he'll be all right alone with them for a few hours.
"I'm just going out to meet Amorette," she says.
"Before you do," he says, standing up from the couch and slipping his hand into his pocket. "I forgot to give you this...in all the—er—excitement."
He pulls out a small black box, very much like the one she had turned down years ago. But he opens it and she knows it's not the same one, because of the gift.
A white gold heart on a fine chain, with three tiny stones in the left corner. One deep violet, one royal blue, and one slate grey, each engraved with a letter: A, N, and O.
She traces it lightly with her finger. "Thank you," she says. "It's beautiful. I have...I have yours, too. Wait a moment." She rifles through one of the bags in the kitchen. "It's not—I mean, I guess I should've...you..."
"Give it here, Nesta," he orders, making her laugh slightly. She hands him the book.
He unwraps it and his eyes widen.
"I didn't really make it for you," she explains. "I just started it when they were born and kept adding on. But...I thought you might like it."
She keeps things. Three tiny bracelets Amorette had snapped on three tiny wrists, locks of hair cut for the first time, the first cohesive "art project"...
He looks up at her after flipping through some of the pages, eyes shining. "Thank you. Can I..." He gestures to the necklace, which she's set on the counter.
"Oh. Yes."
He picks it up as he walks behind her. Is it the cold of the metal that makes her wince slightly, or his body heat so close to her.
"Thank you," she says, looking down at it, after he fastens it. "It's beautiful."
"Say hello to Amorette."
It's rather abrupt of him, she thinks. But perhaps he's worried about pushing her too far. At any rate, Nesta takes her leave, and it's only a few minutes before she is knocking on her friend's door and being ushered in.
"Nice necklace," Amorette remarks right away.
"Thanks."
"It's a heart."
"I noticed."
"Well?"
"Well what?"
"Well, what warrants a heart necklace?"
Nesta rubs her temples. "Can't I have a drink first?"
Amorette laughs before obliging.
She frowns as she takes the glass from her, jerking her head towards a chair in the corner of the room. "What's all that?"
Amorette's clear blue eyes slide over. "Oh. Paperwork."
"You don't normally bring this much home with you."
"Some research, actually," she admits, "from another hospital. In Ciyaluck."
Nesta raised an eyebrow. "You're working with a hospital in Ciyaluck?"
"Not exactly...they've put out some interesting stuff. They asked applicants to do their own...never mind," she says, waving her hands.
"No, wait. You're applying for something? That's great."
"It's up in the air, really. And I'll spare you the gore. Tell me what happened in Velaris."
Nesta takes a deep breath. "Cassian and I fell asleep in the same bed and Nicky walked in on us."
Even Amorette's healer-patience and understanding are not enough to stop her eyes going wide and her jaw dropping. "You slept—"
"No! We just fell asleep!"
"Oh." She pauses. "But...you were in bed together?"
"We didn't do anything," Nesta hurries to say. "Really. Just fell asleep. We didn't...nothing. It was just..." Nesta lets out a groan and drops her head into her hands. "Nicky saw."
"Did you talk to him?"
"Yes." Earlier today. She had stolen a moment alone with him.
"What was your favorite part of the trip?" she had asked, pulling him into her lap, and listened to his ramblings about everything he enjoyed for a few minutes before gently stopping him. "Do you remember when you walked into Mummy's room? And you saw me sleeping there with Appa?"
His brown cheeks darkened, going rosy at the top. Eyes cast down, he nodded.
"And how did that make you feel?"
He shrugged, still not looking at her.
"Sad? Or angry?"
"No..."
"Happy?"
"I don't know."
"You know we both love you very much, right?"
"I know."
"And you're allowed to come into Mummy's room when you wake up in the morning. Or if you wake up in the middle of the night. You know that?"
"I know."
"Would it..." Nesta paused, wondering how best to phrase it. "Would it be good or bad if Appa slept in Mummy's bed again?"
Nicky had looked up, his grey eyes shy as he started wringing his hands. "I don't know."
"All right," she had said, keeping her tone cheerful. She kissed his forehead. "Do you want to go play at the park?"
"Well, that's all right, then," Amorette says when she finishes recounting the events of the afternoon.
"How is that all right?"
"He's not upset," she replies. "He may not know exactly how it makes him feel, but it's not bad."
"What do you think he is feeling, then?" Nesta tries to decide based on his expression when he walked into the room that morning. He had averted his eyes...embarrassed?
Amorette echoes her sentiments. "In the moment, at least. But from what you said...I think he might be pleased."
Is that worse than him being upset? Nesta can't tell.
"Look, he's clearly not losing any sleep over it, and neither should you. You spoke to him, reassured him, made it clear he can come to you. What else is there?"
"I don't know...do you think he told Avery and Ollie?"
Amorette shrugs. "Well, they're not very good secret keepers."
That much is true. "Should I talk to all three of them?"
"If they ask. Parents have done worse things to their children than falling asleep, Nesta," she teases. "When you traumatize them enough for them to run away, it'll be for something worse than this."
Nesta sighs and stretches out her legs. "Suppose you're right...thanks for the book, by the way." An extremely rare edition of one of Nesta's favorites. "Although I don't know if I should thank you for supporting my competition."
"As if," Amorette says, grinning. "Adil tracked it down for me."
Nesta feels a warm flutter in her stomach. "Oh."
She has so much here, doesn't she? The thought doesn't leave her, throughout the whole evening with Amorette and the walk home. Not just for the children...but for her. Adil and Miri and Amorette...and neighbors...and Zeyn.
Who calls her name just as she walks up the steps to her porch.

February 16 - Year of
The cold of the Illyrian mountains did not melt alongside the snow, but all of the iciness inside the General Commander's house had gone. There were quiet moments of awkwardness here and there, when Nesta could hear him not mentioning the forbidden words: Velaris, Rhys, Feyre, etc., but the other moments outnumbered them and were pleasant. Which was why Nesta had agreed to join him on one of the mysterious meetings he always disappeared to.
He had asked her a few days ago, after coming home from one of these meetings. Slumped on the couch and complained about how the preferred method rebellion appeared to be directly disobeying him.
"Step down," Nesta suggested, and he had rolled his eyes. "Well, I don't see why you try so much. There are more armies than just the Illyrian one. So let them choose a new commander if they hate you. Be the other armies' commander."
He stretched his arm out, his fingers trailing the spot next to where her knee was under the blanket, and smiled softly. "But I'm Illyrian, Nesta."
She knew that. "Well...I just don't think you should be giving so much to people who don't even want you there."
"There's no way," he said. "Think what the rebels will do if I step down."
"I don't understand. They're Night Court, aren't they? So aren't they loyal anyway? And aren't they pleased to have an Illyrian High Lord?"
"They don't see themselves as Night Court," he said. "They live amongst themselves. They are only Illyrian. So they don't like having an Illyrian High Lord. They like Night Court society about as much as you do," he added ruefully. His grin tugged downwards slightly as he mused, more to himself, she thought, "Actually, you do have quite a bit in common with them..."
"With the Illyrians warlords?" Nesta asked drily.
"Camp lords. We're not at war."
"Not at war yet, you said."
His fingers inched farther, and she leaned back as he began to rub one of the dimples in her knee from over the blanket. "Come with me."
He was still touching her. "Come with you where?"
"To a meeting."
She hadn't thought he would be able to convince her, but his pleading and a rare burst of curiosity on her part won out in the end. So after a morning of his teasing her that they were going to be late and her grumbling that it was so early, Nesta found herself at the entrance of a building in an Illyrian camp that looked very much like the one she and Cassian lived in.
"Lysander's the new camp lord," Cassian told her. "Relatively young. The old one...well. Not a fan of Rhys' or mine."
"Did you kill him?" she asked, half teasing, half genuine.
"What? No! I didn't kill him...and keep your voice down, if you're going to accuse me of political assassination."
"How'd he die?"
"We're not sure," Cassian admitted. "It might have been an accident. But probably not."
"Are you going to find out?"
"We are." He grinned at her.
Nesta scowled. "That's what I'm here to do? I thought you wanted me to sit next to you."
"You will. And add another healthy dose of fear while I interrogate."
"This is stupid," Nesta said, crossing her arms. "Don't you have a mind-reader on hand?"
"This is a new camp lord," he reminded her. "I want him to see me as his commander, not Rhys' lapdog who calls him in anytime things get rough."
She could appreciate that, at least. "And I'm your lapdog?"
She expected him to give her a wicked grin and say something stupid like, You're a wolf, but he only laughed and said, "No. Who would believe that? You're just here on an excursion."
"That's a big word."
"Oh, shut up. I need your help. All right?"
"Fine," she agreed, forcefully making her tone sound begrudging. "You don't think the new camp lord killed the old one?"
"I don't. But I could be wrong. Let's go see."
The building was not much nicer than the tents the Illyrian military had pitched during the war...and the people's attitude towards Nesta have not changed. Muttering greeted her when she entered the room at Cassian's side, and some of those religious hand gestures were thrown in her direction.
She stifled a scowl. She'd been living in Illyria for six months now. If she were going to unleash hellfire down upon them, wouldn't she have done it already?
Cassian didn't waste much time on introductions. On their part, that is. "This is your new commander's table?" He motioned for Nesta to sit down next to him.
Lysander cleared his throat. "I decided on a chain of command, yes."
He was nervous. That was...good? Because he was nervous about doing something without Cassian's permission first? But if Nesta were living here, she wouldn't like knowing that her camp lord was nervous when presenting his decisions.
Oh, she didn't know what she thought. She didn't really understand the politics before her and she honestly didn't care to.
The whole meeting seemed spectacularly boring to Nesta. Even things that should have been interesting—Cassian asking why no females had been chosen for the new commander's table, discussions of Illyrian separatists starting a fire in the middle of the camp—were not. She just...didn't care.
She didn't think much of it was interrogating, either. Until Cassian said, "It seems odd that an established camp lord, who was well-versed in aerial combat, fell to his death. Don't you think, Lady Nesta?"
It had been quite some time since she'd heard that made-up title. But she gave no indication. "I do," she said.
They all flinched at the sound of her voice.
Cassian ignored them, pretending like they were the only ones in the room, as he leaned back and said, "What's your theory?"
Nesta looked around. "Was he popular?"
"He was not."
"Hm." Nesta thought for a moment.
If Cassian had wanted a politician, he would have brought Rhysand.
So she didn't think up any veiled threats. Instead, she turned to Lysander, and asked, just as she had asked Cassian, "Did you kill him?"
Asking Cassian, though, had not been nearly so funny. There was no chorus of sharp breaths, no sputtering.
But the answer was the same—more or less.
"No, Lady!"
Ooh, he would've had to be quite young to look at her with that kind of fear. But it was still hard to tell with faeries, for her.
"I don't think he did it," Nesta said.
"Anybody else?" Cassian was looking only at her.
She studied them all carefully. There—two from Lysander's right. He was calling on his gods far too much for an honest male.
"Did you kill him?"
His brown face bleached. "I did not, Lady." There was, perhaps, less terror in his voice than in Lysander's, but that wasn't very impressive. Perhaps he did not kill the old camp lord, but he definitely knew who did.
"This doesn't strike me as a good commander's table," Nesta muttered to Cassian, who chuckled slightly.
"Lysander...and you...stay. The rest of you, take your leave."
It wasn't something that she hoped to do again, she thought to herself. She didn't particularly enjoy intimidating people; she didn't like to be around people in the first place. But it was for a good cause, she supposed. Tangentially working for the Night Court, but weeding out corruption, right?
And she couldn't deny it—she did enjoy the secretive grins Cassian kept shooting her way.
---
December 23 - 4 years after
Cassian doesn't mean to eavesdrop. Really. He just thinks, when he hears Nesta coming up to the door, that she'll appreciate his help with her coat. Walk her into the living room where they can go over the book she had given him.
But then he hears her say, "Zeyn."
He freezes. Is he—here to spend the night? Should he leave?
Footsteps away from the door, and a kiss.
"I missed you," he says.
"I missed you too. Thank you for your gifts. We loved them."
When had he given her a gift.
"Suppose they're asleep."
"You can see them tomorrow." She pauses. "How was Solstice here?"
"Same as always. Madam Sabina had the kids put on a dance show."
Nesta laughs. "I wonder what the routine was like."
"Oh, it's such a shame you missed it. I can only hope this routine is repeated an infinite amount of times at every single town fair, so you have a chance to see it."
"Fingers crossed."
She's not sending him away, but she doesn't seem to be inviting him in. He notices, too.
"He's here, isn't he?"
Zeyn's voice has changed. He's not cold, but he's certainly not warm.
Nesta's own voice is unapologetic. "He's my children's father, Zeyn."
"But what is he to you?"
Cassian holds his breath. He doesn't want to listen in anymore, but he's too in-tune to her voice. He'll hear her from anywhere in the house now.
"He's my children's father," she says again. "That's a lot, Zeyn."
"Come on, Nesta, you know what I mean."
He wishes he could see her face—well, no, he doesn't. He saw it earlier tonight. She's not ready. He knows that.
Finally, ever so soft, she says, "I don't know, all right?"
Zeyn waits another few seconds before saying, just as softly, "All right."
"I can't have...anything...right now," she says. "It's too much. I'm focusing on the children."
"You always focus on the children."
"Well, really, Zeyn, what the hell do you expect me to do?"
"No, it's not wrong. I'm just saying...do you really think if you take some time to figure out what you want you won't be focusing on them?"
Privately, Cassian agrees with him.
"I don't know."
Now she sounds tired. Cassian doubts she'll want to look at the album with him.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Zeyn...all right?"
Another kiss. "All right. Good night."
Cassian is sitting on the couch in the living room by the time Nesta makes it to the door.
"Hey," she says, untying her boots as she sits down.
"Hey," he says, casual. "How was Amorette's?"
"Great," she says flatly. "How's the album?"
He can't stop the smile on his face. "Great."
She chuckles slightly and reaches for it. "Did you see the little handprints? When they wake up, we can ask them to hold their hands against it...I still make them do it sometimes...they've just gotten," Nesta pauses to sigh and smile slightly, "so big."
"Ollie was always the smallest?" he asks, looking at the prints.
"Yes. I guess he'll be bigger than Avery one day." She laughs. "Oh, wow...do you ever think about what they'll be like? What they'll look like? Nicky looks more like you every single day."
Cassian perks up. "Really? Do you think?"
She nods. "He's started losing his little cheeks already. They're really not toddlers anymore. Three and a half."
"Three and a half," he echoes.
Nesta flips some of the pages. "And the hair. Look, Avery's hair was so light when she was born. I thought she was going to be blond."
They sit for another hour or so, talking about their children. This time, when Nesta starts to doze off, she claps her hands together and announces she is going to bed.
Cassian doesn't mind in the least.

“Mom, stop worrying so much. She’s going to be fine,” Sebastian looked around the airport, searching for the familiar face.
“I can’t help it, I’m her mother! Maybe she’s too young to be traveling alone,” she pondered over the phone. Sebastian sighed.
“She’s going to be with me most of the time. She’ll be fine, Mom. I know how to take care of my little sister.”
“I know you can, Seb, it’s just-”
“I know, mom,” Sebastian softly said. His mother didn’t have to explain why she was so worried, he already knew. He was worried about the same thing but, he knew that getting away from home was just what you needed. Plus, he’d missed you like hell. “I promise she’ll be fine.” Sebastian spotted you looking around with your luggage and smiled to himself. “I see her, I’ll have her call you once we’re home.” He hung up the phone and watched as you looked around the crowd, trying to figure out where the hell you were. You let out a shaky sigh.
“Y/N!” You turned around and spotted your brother. You smiled and ran over to him.
“Seb!” Sebastian engulfed you into a hug. “Missed you, punk.” Sebastian chuckled as he let go of the hug and grabbed a hold of your luggage.
“Missed you too, how was the flight?”
“Nerve-wracking,” you said with a small chuckle. “So used to having either you, mom or dad with me when traveling.”
“You’re growing up too fast.” Sebastian sighed. “Anyway, Chris is excited to see you. He’s upset he couldn’t come with me to pick you up.”
“Aww, my boyfriend!” You exclaimed causing Sebastian to roll his eyes. You and Chris had a running joke about him being your boyfriend, despite the age gap. The two of you really did have a lot in common, including a deep love of Disney and dogs, and Chris played around as well. The fact that it seemed to drive Sebastian crazy was just an added bonus.
“I already feel like I’m going to regret this,” Sebastian sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Aww come on, Seb! Don’t be like that! You too will find the love of your life eventually! I mean it’s kind of embarrassing that your little sister found it first but hey! No judgment here.” You grinned as Seb gave you a playful glare.
Once you both arrived at the car, Sebastian placed your luggage in the back as you got into the passenger seat. Sebastian got into the driver's seat.
“So, what’s the plan?” You asked as Sebastian began to drive out of the parking lot.
“Well, we’re going to meet up with Chris for lunch and then afterward I’ll take you over to the set so you can get settled into my trailer and since it’s my day off, I thought I would show you around the set.”
The ride to the diner was far from quiet. You spoke to Sebastian about everything that had happened while he was gone; all the small trips your parents took you on, the projects you did at school, and even about your volleyball games.
“Sounds like junior year has been a blast for you,” Sebastian commented as he parked in a small diner parking lot. “The food is good here,” Sebastian said as he turned the car off.
“I’m assuming you’ve been here a couple of times already?” you laughed. Sebastian nodded.
“It’s not too far from set, Chris and I tend to eat here for lunch on our days off.”  You followed Sebastian into the diner.
“There she is!!” you heard Chris yell. You squealed with excitement and ran over to Chris. He quickly picked you up and spun you around before placing you back on your feet.
“Wow, you didn’t even greet your own brother like that,” Sebastian pouted.
“Yeah, well, you’re not Chris,” you said. Sebastian lets out a soft chuckle.
“You got me there.”
The three of you walked back to the booth Chris had saved. You sat next to Sebastian and Chris sat on the other side of the table.
“How was your flight?” Chris asked, handing you a menu.
“Nerve-wracking,” Sebastian answered for you. You nodded.
“Well, you made it here safely, that’s what matters,” Chris commented.
The basic iPhone ringtone caught your attention. Sebastian let out a heavy sigh as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
“It’s Margarita, I have to answer this.” He gave you an apologetic smile before sliding out of the booth and walking outside to answer the phone. Chris cleared his throat.
“So, any special boys in your life I should know about?” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully. You rolled your eyes.
“Only one,” you said giving him a playful wink. HE threw his head back and laughed, hand flying to his pec.
“Aww, Y/N, you always knew the way to my heart.” You both laughed. “But seriously, no boys that you’re talking to?” You shake your head, no.
“Even if there were, I have too much on my plate as it is,” you said honestly. Chris hummed in response.
“College applications?” he questioned.
“They’re killing me,” you groaned. “It’s so nice to just take a break for the summer before the real stress begins.” Chris smiled.
“Well, I’ll make sure to help you keep your mind off it.” Sebastian slid back into the booth.
“Alright, what are we talking about?”
“College,” you said plainly.
“College is fun! It’s going to be some of the best years of your life!” Sebastian commented. You rolled your eyes at his comment. “Alright, let’s change the subject.”
“How is filming so far?” you asked the pair.
“It’s good!” Chris commented. He suddenly squinted his eyes as he stared towards the diner entrance. “Is that… Holland?” he said loudly. Sebastian turned around and chuckled.
“Well, would you look at that!” your brother called loudly. You heard a faint laugh and then a familiar face came into your view. Tom Holland. You knew him from what Sebastian had told you, and you weren’t prepared for him to be so cute in person.
“Hey, you guys!” You quickly took notice of his British accent and melted just a little. Sebastian and Chris greeted their costar, and then suddenly remembered you sat at the booth as well.
“Oh! this is my little sister, Y/N.” Sebastian introduced you. Tom smiled and shook your hand.
“Nice to meet you, Y/N,” he said, flashing you the most adorable smile you’d ever seen.
“Likewise.” You gave Tom a small smile.
“So, what brings you here?” Chris asked.
“Well, it’s a diner..and it’s lunchtime...” Tom teased. Chris rolled his eyes as Sebastian chuckled at Tom’s response.
“Why don’t you join us?” Sebastian asked.
“Thank you, but I don’t want to intrude-” Tom started, starting to head away. You found yourself not wanting him to leave.
“It’s not intruding at all,” you said quickly. Tom gave you a small glance before looking over at your brother. “Oh, come on, Tom. Don’t you want to hear embarrassing stories about Sebastian here? I always hear about the pranks you three pull on each other.” You winked at Tom who quickly looked down to hide the faint blush that appeared. Tom looked back over at you with a grin.
“Well, I can’t say no to that,” Tom said, giving Sebastian a smirk.
“I am most definitely regretting convincing mom to let you join me for the summer,” Sebastian stated. You gave him a big grin that made him let out a soft sigh. It just melted his heart every single time.
The four of you ordered, ate and talked for the better part of the afternoon. You sat and listened as Tom and Chris told you stories about embarrassing things Sebastian had done while on set and at times you said some embarrassing stories about Sebastian. One in particular about him singing you to sleep. Chris quickly chimed in with “You did that to your siblings too!?” which definitely caught yours and Tom’s ear. Chris told stories about how he used to sing his little brother to sleep and you had to admit that it warmed your heart.
But the fun felt like it was cut short when Sebastian’s basic iPhone ringtone began to ring again. You glanced towards the screen to see his girlfriend’s name across it.
“Sorry,” Sebastian said as he gave you a somber smile before sliding out of the booth to walk outside and answer the call.
“That’s my cue to go to the restroom,” Chris said. Tom quickly slid out of the booth to let Chris out.
Tom slid back into the booth and gave you a smile. You smiled back, your mind wandering to topics that you could bring up.
“I honestly didn’t know Sebastian had a sister,” Tom blurted. He cleared his throat before he continued. “Usually you hear about those things, like on Wikipedia or something.” You chuckled.
“Yeah, well, Sebastian has always been quite good at keeping things on the down-low,” you said. Tom nodded, it was true. Sebastian was a pretty private person when it came to putting things on social media.
“I hope this doesn’t offend you, but you don’t look like Sebastian at all,” he commented. You let out a small laugh.
“Well, Tom, that probably has something to do with me being adopted,” you said matter-of-factly.
Before Tom could even respond to that both of the guys walked back to the table.
“Ready to go?” Sebastian asked you. Irritation was written all over his face. You knew you would have to speak to him about it later. You gave him a small nod and gathered your things to leave.
“Already?” Chris whined. Sebastian chuckled lightly.
“Yeah, I want to get her settled into the trailer and let her nap before I show her around set,” Sebastian said. “You have no idea how cranky she gets when she doesn’t get her daily nap.”
“Hey! Naps are crucial!” You retorted. Sebastian rolled his eyes as he placed a twenty on the table.
“See you guys later,” he said as he began walking out of the diner.
“See you later,” you said.
“Yeah! See you around the set!” Tom exclaimed. He watched as you and Sebastian walked out of the diner.
“Sebastian would literally kill you if you even try to make a move on his sister,” Chris warned the boy with a soft voice.
“W-what?” Tom asked, clearly caught off guard by Chris’s warning.
“I saw the way you looked at her, Tom.” Chris smiled. “Just take this as a fair warning, you don’t want to see that side of Seb.” Tom watched as Chris walked off. Tom had just met you, of course, and he hadn’t even been thinking of making a move. But he had to admit to himself that something was there.

Welcome to Honia: Family time
Okay, finally getting around to posting this XD I had it ready to be posted a week ago but haven’t gotten around to posting until now 😅Anyway I hope you enjoy this fic!
The previous chapters can be found here, I would advise reading those first to better understand what’s going on in this Royal Au world XD
----
John pov.
The sleek black car pulled up to the entrance of the palace, the sun setting in the background. That function had gone on forever, he thought as he waved goodbye to Kayo with a yawn. Heading inside, the doorman opening the door for him, bowing his head in respect.
His feet were on autopilot, leading him to one of the family’s drawing rooms. He really should have gone to his apartments, but that was on the other side of the palace and the couch was calling him, He thought as he collapsed on the antique couch face first in exhaustion.
Functions were not his cup of tea, as his pink-loving friend in England would like to say. Penny was definitely more adept at dealing with social events than he was...
It wasn’t that he didn’t like the charities that hosted those events, the charities that he and his family supported were some of the best, wholesome ones out there. It was just...he really rather stayed in the library with a good book than in a crowded room, filled with people that want to talk to his Royal Highness, Prince Jonathan…
Not John Tracy…
But social events were expected of them, it was just a fact of life for a Royal. He was used to it...
“Wow...I haven’t seen you collapse on a couch like that since you were a teenager…” a familiar voice chuckled, sounding bewildered but also slightly amused.
His eyes, which had slipped close, snapped open as he shot to his feet, trying to make himself look like he hadn't just been facepalming with a couch. But gravity had other ideas, causing him to fall backwards onto the couch with a thud...
The familiar voice winced, “you’re okay?” Asked Scott, who was sitting in one of the armchairs opposite him, his tablet in hand while a cup of coffee sat on the side table next to him.
It took him a couple of seconds for his head to catch up to his body but when it did, the relief was overwhelming. “I, yeah, I’m fine Scott…” He said with a little bow of his head, recognising Scott's higher rank, before collapsing sideways on the couch with a sigh of relief, rolling onto his back.
“Please don’t scare me like that again..” he groaned, covering his eyes with his right forearm, shifting it slightly so he could see Scott, “I swear I nearly had a heart attack…”
Scott chuckled softly as he took a sip of his coffee, “Do I want to know how that function went?” Scott’s eyes were live with laughter, his big brother was enjoying this too much…
He groaned, covering his eyes with his arm again, blocking out the light of the room. “You don’t want to know…”
Oh, he could feel a headache coming on...
“So much talking, so many people…the food was okay though but argh...so many people...” he groaned again, “I really hope you had a better afternoon than I did…”
“It has been okay, I guess…” Scott said with a yawn, his hand coming up to cover his mouth, “I was able to get a fair bit of work done today, as well as speak with a couple of diplomats on father’s behalf..”
That’s...sounds like fun...he thought with a little eye roll, wisely choosing to keep that sarcastic thought to himself…
Diplomats and politicians were...not the easiest people to deal with, so he was glad Scott was the one that had to deal with them this time. And speaking of their father...
“Have you had a chance to talk with father lately?” He asked as he rubbed his eyes, the headache starting to set in good now. “I haven’t been able to call him in a couple days so I’m a bit out of the loop-“
A little gasp sounded from the entrance of the drawing-room, “Johnny! You’re home!” An excited squeal echoed through the room, followed by the sound of running footsteps.
And before he could even fathom what was going on, he suddenly had a six-year-old child on his chest, hugging all the air out of his lungs “I missed you!” Alan cheered, snuggling into him.
“Hi..Allie..” he chuckled weakly as he tried to get some air into his lungs, giving Alan’s soft blond hair a little ruffle, “I missed you too but um, I was only gone for a couple of hours?” He asked in confusion, looking at Scott for help.
Which turned out to be a mistake because Scott was no help…the man in question having broken down into roaring laughter at his predicament, like he never had Alan unexpectedly jump on him before…
He glared at his big brother, not finding the current situation as funny as Scott seemed to find it. Scott was full-body laughing, holding his stomach as he bent forward with laughter, tears of joy in his eyes.
Alan was just sitting on his chest now, looking mega confused as he shifted his eyes between them with his wide baby blues.
Alan’s nanny stood near the entrance of the drawing-room, looking startled, confused, and slightly terrified by the turn of events. She was probably worried she was going to get in trouble for letting Alan jump on him…
Which wasn’t really a big deal, but she was a new recruit, wasn’t she? He thought to himself, taking note for future reference. The new recruits always seemed to act like they had the power to cut off their heads or something...
Which, okay, maybe back in medieval times that was possible but come on, it was the twenty-first century, he thought with a chuckle as he tried to take a deep breath in…
Only to realise that, oh yeah, Alan was still sitting on his chest…
And the kid wasn’t that light either, so breathing was not the easiest thing to do, he thought with a little gasp, not wanting to tell Alan out-right to get off, but he needed to breathe!
Lucky for him, Scott had finished laughing and had decided to take pity on him…
“Allie-baby, why don’t you come over here?” Scott chuckled softly as he patted his lap. “Johnny had a big day and he’s really tired, sweetheart...”
Alan blinked at Scott before looking down at him, “Oh…” Alan whispered softly as he crawled off his chest. “Sorry, Johnny…”
A big sigh of relief escaped him as the weight on his chest disappeared, letting him finally breathe properly once again. Honestly, when did that little pup get so heavy? He’s growing up too fast...
“It’s okay, Allie..” he smiled at Alan, who was happily nestled into Scott’s side now, his little head resting on Scott’s chest. The kid was just plain adorable, those big baby blue eyes and little button nose. The kid could make even the toughest man crack from the cuteness….
And it is easy to see where he gets it from, he thought with a smile as he glanced up at Scott, who was smiling softly down at Alan, an arm wrapped tenderly around the kid. Those blue eyes were almost identical…
“So what have you been up to today, kiddo?” Scott asked softly, pulling the kid close in an embrace, tenderly kissing the top of Alan's head, “I heard that you had your nap a little bit earlier today. You feeling okay?”
He felt a tingle of concern at that statement, his smile dropping as all the times Alan had been stuck in bed, horribly sick and unwell flashed through his mind.
“I was...I was just tired…” Alan mumbled shyly, sucking his thumb as he snuggled into Scott’s side, very obviously not liking where the conversation had gone. “Didn’t sleep good...”
Scott’s lips pressed together into a frown, his forehead creasing in worry, the concern clouding his eyes.
“Hey, Allie…” he smiled, getting Alan’s and Scott’s attention, “did you learn anything interesting today?” He asked, changing the subject to something more cheerful.
Alan’s baby blue eyes lit up like fireworks, a big grin bursting on to the kid’s face, “Yeah! I did, I did!” Alan cheered loudly, starting to bounce up and down on Scott’s lap, overflowing with excitement. “And it’s really really cool!”
He had to bite his lip to stop the bark of laughter that wanted to escape as Scott winced. Having a bouncing, excited kid on one’s lap or to be more precise, one’s sensitive, manly parts was not a nice feeling…
“And what is that, kiddo?” Scott asked with a smile trying to disguise his discomfort as he gently stilled Alan’s excited bouncing “What is this really cool thing, hmm?” Scott cuddled Alan close, resting his cheek lightly on the kid’s head.
“Um well…” Alan blinked up at Scott owlishly, nibbling at his bottom lip, ”Mrs. Anders had me reading a new book today and well... there was this weird looking animal in it!” Alan grinned at them, his eyes lively with excitement.
“Weird looking animal?” He smiled encouragingly at Alan, always happy to see Alan learning new things. “What kind of animal was it, kiddo?”
“Um…” Alan’s eyebrows creased in concentration, the kid pressing his lips together as he thought hard, “Mrs. Anders said it was called a...a D-ira-ffe?” Alan spelt out slowly, looking slightly unsure of himself.
“A Giraffe?” Scott corrected with a little chuckle, a soft tender smile on his face as he looked down at the kid on his lap. There was unfiltered love in his eyes.
“Yeah a d-iraffe!” Alan grinned, nodding enthusiastically. “It’s neck is so funny! It’s so long!” Alan giggled, his eyes bright with excitement. “And it’s tongue is blue!” Alan stuck his tongue out for demonstration, pointing at it. “Wish my tongue was blue…”
He and Scott both chuckled, each very much amused by Alan’s excited ramble… the kid could be so cute at times.
“Well, this is unusual…” Virgil chuckled as he entered the room, wearing his favourite red plaid shirt. “We’re all in the same place for once! Did I miss the memo?”
“Virgie!” Alan bounced up with a cheer, causing Scott to yelp in surprise and alarm as Alan very nearly tumbled off the side of the armchair...
The kid was lucky Scott had such a fast reaction time, otherwise Alan would have gotten a face full of carpet, he thought as Alan giggled at Scott sheepishly, the older man giving the kid a stern look, arm firmly wrapped around Alan's middle...
“Hey Allie..” Virgil smiled softly, a bit of laughter in his voice as he came to stand next to Scott’s chair, subtly bowing his head to him and Scott. “What have you guys been up to? John, how did that function go?”
“You don’t want to know…” he answered dryly as he sat up with a yawn, the day’s work catching up to him. “Why don’t you ask Allie what he learned about today?”
Alan’s eyes lit up like fireworks as Virgil turn to him. “Mrs. Anders show me a D-iraffe! They have blue tongues! and they’re so long!” Alan giggled, a giant grin on his face. ”They’re really weird but super duper cool at the same time!”
“That they are..” Virgil chuckled softly, a fond look in his eyes as he ruffled Alan’s soft blond hair, “you sure had fun today, haven’t you kiddo?”
“Yeah!” Alan said before yawning softly, rubbing his eyes sleepy. “It...it was fun but…” Alan yawned again.. “when’s dinner?”
All the adults in the room chuckled at Alan’s question.
Scott looked at his watch, “Hmm, we should probably have dinner soon and then get you kiddo into bed..” Scott stroked Alan’s hair back gently, a tender look on his face. “Especially if you’re having trouble sleeping..”
Alan pouted, shaking Scott’s hand off. Scott just sighed softly...
“Dinner does sound good, I wonder what the chefs are going to put on the menu tonight..” Virgil wondered out loud, his stomach growling. “Hey, why don’t you guys join me in my quarters tonight for dinner?” Virgil suggested with a smile. “We haven’t done that in a while, it will be nice…”
“Brilliant idea, Virg.” Scott smiled at Virgil before tapping his watch, opening a commline to his private secretary, Gary, who was Scott’s go-to man for nearly everything. Alan watched in curiosity.
“Yes, your highness?” The gruff pouch voice of Gray answered.
“Me and Alan are going to have our dinner in Virgil’s quarters tonight, Gary. Can you arrange that?” Scott spoke into his watch while gently shooing away Alan’s curious fingers with a little disapproving frown.
Alan collapsed back against Scott’s chest with a pout, his arms crossed against his chest. The kid was obviously getting bored...
“Of course, sir.” Gary answered with speed. “I will notify all the necessary staff right away. Will that be all, sir?”
Scott lowered his watch slightly and looking at him, quietly asked, “John, what about you?” Are you joining us for dinner tonight?
He frowned slightly as he thought about it. He was dead tired and, he’ll admit, feeling a bit emotionally drained from the event. He really just needed to have some alone time, even though he really did want to spend some time with his brothers. He was exhausted.
He shook his head as he stood up with a yawn. “I’m just going to have dinner in my quarters tonight, but maybe next time?” He smiled softly at his brothers. Alan had dozed off slightly against Scott’s chest.
“Sure, John, that’s fine.” Virgil smiled softly at him as Scott ended the call with Gary. “You look dead tired, you should get an early night tonight.”
“Planning too..” he smiled as he gently ruffled Alan’s blond locks as he walked passed. The kid blinked sleepily up at him. “Goodnight, Allie. You behave for Scott and Virgil.”
“He better behave...” Scott chuckled softly, a playful look appearing in his eyes, “or I’ll eat him all up, yumgh yumrgh!” Scott pretends to gobble Alan up, tickling the kid’s belly button as well as layering heaps of kisses to the kid’s face.
Which in turn caused Alan to squeal in outrage at the overload of affection. The kid started to squirm as he tried to get away from the onslaught of Scott’s attacks.
But Alan ultimately lost as Scott placed one last wet kiss on the kid’s cheek, a smug look on his face as the kid wiggled out of his arms. Alan pouted, rubbing his cheek, wide awake now.
Virgil chuckled. “Come on, Allie. Why don’t we go up to my quarters for dinner before Scott decides he wants to eat you for real.” Virgil grinned, holding his hand out for Alan to take.
Alan couldn’t take Virgil’s hand fast enough.
