watching mars vs mars and was getting really annoyed at veronica's stance in this episode but then i realised that it actually makes perfect sense for her personality and history and also the context of when this show was made

i always loved the writer’s ability to balance the sibling’s own storylines with the smaller characters like tom and greg. i won’t be silly and think that they are on the same level of the heirs of the roy family, but it felt like they were still at least on the same playing field. now tom and greg feel so bare and useless. we know next to nothing about their time jump experiences. we don’t know what their goals are or what they are doing other than just trying to float. greg has not been used even once so far for plot reasons. tom is basically just a sounding board for shiv’s arc. after setting them up last season to be bigger players outside of the sibling sphere this feels disappointing. i’m not even one to need or want tomgreg “canon” in anyway, it just feels like they are not being given the same level of care they did— platonic or not.

i commend the writers for trying to do something different with the format, but for the final season this is really messy. having 1 episode only cover 1 day is really not doing anything for me. we don’t get to see the characters process their emotions, we don’t see things develop. they’ve been stuck on the same issues for 4 episodes now because it is such a slow pace timeline wise and some characters are stuck in place with nothing to do. i don’t think much of anything will be resolved, which i was prepared for but not to this extent.

totally hear you. agreed. i was hoping the whole season wouldn't be one day at a time, but alas that seems to be the case. here's to hoping some wild shit happens that forces some character development. i mean, if we can see ken shift from buddhism to logan 2.0 over a piece of paper, there's hope for us yet.

i've also been disappointed by tomgreg regressing into their b-plot comedic hijinks, but maybe their real arc has yet to begin? hoping they at least are given more depth and care in the scenes they do share.

Unlike a lot of people here (because I'm ancient) I watched Gilmore Girls when it was airing on TV and rage quit twice, only to come crawling back eventually.

The first time was the S3 baby shower episode, at which point I just could not put up with Lorelai and her petty, childish behavior because Christopher didn't choose her over his pregnant girlfriend and was upset he was actually supportive of her. Well, big whoop, Lorelai that's probably why you shouldn't sleep with other people's boyfriends. I'm sure the example that you're modeling for your daughter here (mostly that it's okay to get entangled with men who are already attached because they were yours first) isn't going to be something she takes to heart a year and a half from now or anything.

Anyway, moving on. I rage quit the second time in episode 5 of season 6, "We've Got Magic To Do." This is the episode where Rory organizes a USO/big band themed party for the DAR, Richard is horribly disappointed that she has learned a new skill, and in the B plot Luke is upset when Lorelai encourages him to go camping.

It's not the worst episode of the season by a long, long shot. But I was bored by Luke and Lorelai's stuff, I have never really liked the upper class plot threads of the show so I was even more bored by Rory, and there were rumors about Christopher coming back and Luke's new secret daughter. I could tell it wasn't going to end well.

What got me to quit was Richard and Emily confronting the Huntzbergers, a plotline that made absolutely no sense

Emily and Richard were excited about Rory dating Logan not only because he is basically their ideal future grandson-in-law or because he possessed connections that might prevent Rory from becoming a penniless failed journalist like most of the people in her job field (funny how that turned out) but because they wanted to move up in their social circle.

However, Rory steals a boat, drops out of school, and seeks the refuge of her grandparents because Lorelai says she can't come home. She intends to party and slack off with Logan, but her grandparents insist that she work at the job they give her at the DAR and finish her community service hours if they're going to support her. (I will note that no one forces Rory to do this in AYITL and that's likely why she keeps spiraling: she can live off of the generosity of others and doesn't have to work, so she doesn't). You would think that Richard and Emily would have figured out that maybe Logan isn't the great influence on Rory that they hoped he would be, but alas....no.

The party is a huge success and you would think that Richard and Emily would be thrilled that Rory has pulled off this accomplishment, but no. Emily goes and rips into Shira, tells her that she's basically white trash and a scheming gold digger, and that she will never stand in the way of Rory and Logan's epic love story. Richard confronts Mitchum in the bathroom and accused him of crushing Rory's spirit and forcing her to seek an alternate career path that she is good at. The episode ends with him devastated that Rory is an adept party planner.

It still is ridiculous to me that two people who pride themselves on behaving according to social norms and maintaining the respect of those in their social circle would behave this way. It's deeply moronic and out of character. Why would they risk everything they've worked so hard for and jeopardize their social standing and Rory's to get back at two people they WANTED on their side? Pissing off Mitchum and Shira doesn't help Rory, it won't help her career if she does go back to school, and it's certainly not going to improve Logan and Rory's relationship. It's just putting words in their mouths that the writers want to express regarding their moral worth even though they've also spent the last season and a half focusing on how glamorous the rich kids sandbox can be. A month later, Jess comes back, encourages Rory to return to her life goals, and Rory breaks up with Logan and ends this plot thread. Hallelujah. No thanks to Richard and Emily, though, who probably could have made things worse for her in the long run career wise but didn't.

The whole thing was just dumb and dishonest and I hated it and still do. Plus, ASP was going to screw up Luke and Lorelai anyway, so why stick around for that? So I rage quit until the second half of the season 6 finale at which point I didn't watch again for another decade.

succession 3.06

I was nervous about Succession’s foray into a storyline that’s explicitly about billionaire politics and backsliding democracy in 2021…post Trump’s election, even post January 6, it has felt a little like *every* show now wants to make some comment on the dire American political climate. But it’s a hard, complicated subject to say something smart and distinctive about—exhibit A, my beloved yet ultimately misguided Veep—and it’s even harder to address without tacitly acknowledging that a healthy democracy is fundamentally a good thing and fascism and racism are bad. And Succession doesn’t deal in moral absolutes, or rather, its stakes don’t revolve around “good” versus “bad.” 

So in that sense, I was pleased with the show’s crushing commitment to the realism of modern politics while also taking care to note, via Shiv, that fucking around with fascists is a capital-B bad idea. It was a good move to sidestep the Trump of it all, which was smart as Trump was merely a specific symptom, not the cause, of America’s current politics woes (and also he’s not really a billionaire anyway, not like the Roys), and focused more on the different threads of modern Republican politics and the role of billionaires and right-wing media outlets. We encounter the various Republican political archetypes while also observing the effects of the party’s radicalized base—namely, that right-wing authoritian sociopaths like Mencken are slowly taking over, partly because they understand how the Internet works in a way that the Boyers of the world don’t. Politics, while taking up the A-plot in this episode for the first time, is still ultimately used within the narrative as fodder for the evolving Roy dyamics, just like the takeover battle, just like the Pierce acquisition drama, etc. At the same time, I hope the show will equally be smart to keep the election humming quietly in the background providing external plot stimulation as needed, instead of turning into Succession: ATN Election Season or whatever.

Shiv’s role here in all this is interesting. I love that Succession has no interest in “backing” one sibling over the other, they are all equally horrible in different ways, but simply by virtue of her weak pro-democracy stance, she immediately becomes more sympathetic to the viewing audience. I might even go so far as to say her civic-minded concern is quite possibly her most sympathetic moment of the show so far. It’s incredibly satisfying to watch her bat down Mencken’s condescending pseudo-philosphical bluff, and Logan and Roman’s total and consistent disregard for her crystallizes once again the oppressive gender dynamics of her world. We strongly empathize with her desperate opposition to the notion that he could be president. At the same time, I don’t think we’re meant to take away that Shiv is “better” than her other siblings because of her politics. The show is too morally complex for that—and she did get in the photo, after all. But it will be interesting to see how their political differences continue to deepen the wedge between Logan and his “favorite” child.

All this to say…another disturbingly, fantastically good episode of Succession.

other observations: 

- this was also a deeply funny episode in addition to its emotional mess, possibly my favorite of the season so far. The zingers! Political deal-making! Shiv’s power suits! Michelle Ann! Stephen Root was there! Tom’s existential dread! The return of Willa! (I liked her smacking down Connor for trying to whore her out to Stephen Root). 

- After starting out the season weaker than ever, Logan’s fortunes have reversed dramatically…he looked like the cat who ate the canary this entire episode. I do appreciate the show’s super realistic-if-depressing portrayal of the DOJ case against Waystar, even if it is infuriating. The fact is, American corporations can absolutely get away with acting in super illegal ways! 

- Relatedly, the show has been absolutely ruthless with Kendall this season—his fake PR identity as a woke revolutionary, his inability to hear anything he doesn’t want to hear, his narcissism and entitlement…that moment when he snapped the photo of Tom in the parking lot, desperate for some kind of leverage…the bitter blow of Tom’s reveal that he’s missing out on picking the next president. That could have been you, Kendall!

- Logan and Roman’s approach to politics appears to be based primarily on vibes only. (This is actually Kendall’s approach to the DOJ case too). 

- Tumblr seems to be having some kind of collective meltdown over Roman’s eye-fuckfest with sociopath Mencken, as if this constitutes some kind of profound violation of his relationship with Gerri. Everyone needs to calm down. Their whole thing was absolutely consistent with how the show likes to reverse the professional and the personal—ie, how so much of politics and business can be like managing a sexual or romantic relationship. (Plus, the whole Gerri/Jeryd thing is 100% intentional, you can’t convince me otherwise). That scene of the two of them in the bathroom, in their shirtsleeves, hair all mussed at the end of a long day, the sparky coy glances across the small space…damn! Filmed as intimately as any scene between Roman and Gerri (and more intimately than anything between Shiv and Tom). 

- Whoever played Mencken was perfectly cast. Literally the scariest person in the room at all times. 

- Matthew Macfadyen slayed this episode. He was the real protagonist, by far. His conversations with Greg and Kendall were absolutely devastating. Some of the most nuanced acting we’ve seen on the show, and that’s a fucking high bar to clear. 

- Greg sucks. Can we say that now? Ready for Kendall to burn him. 

- At the same time, Tom calling Greg in the middle of the night is quite possibly their most romantic moment so far. Meanwhile, Shiv and Tom’s marriage is literally unraveling before our very eyes (in an exquisitely angsty, compelling fashion that still highlights what draws them to one another). The logical step for them after this episode is to have a real conversation, cut their losses with Logan, and head over to Team Kendall. That would require emotional intelligence and actual communication on their part, though, so I doubt it will happen. At the same time, it’s no coincidence that this episode ends with both of them more uncertain about their futures on Team Logan. 

- Caroline! Getting engaged and not even telling your kids! I loved that Roman and Shiv called Kendall immediately. Some things transcend corporate battles, and that includes your emotionally witholding mother getting remarried. (Guess we know why everyone is headed to Italy for the final two episodes). 

- Logan’s assistant Kerry has been getting more and more screentime in the recent episodes, and much like the Roy siblings I truly did not pay her any attention until she began to speak up in meetings. Whatever’s happening between her and Logan, I just hope Marcia finds out and she decides to come for Waystar as a form of punishment. Marcia for CEO.

So. After spending yesterday and today tryin to dissect the X-Men movieverse fandom on tumblr and AO3, I have come to the conclusion that I will be even more alone in this fandom than in Tolkien-verse.

Like. On tumblr, it’s entirely impossible to find anything more specific than the large X-Men scale at whole thanks to the fucked up tagging system where half of the tags don’t show up because of dashes and because no one knows how the fuck to tag anything. And thanks to the fuck up that happened in the movie timelines after they butchered X3 and the Phoenix tale (TWICE!!!!! WTF HOLLYWOOD), AO3 is a clusterfuck with three different main tags for the movieverse alone.

Yeah, this is not happening within any fandom surroundings.

On the other hand, it’s maybe better if there’s no one trying to pretend to cheer on me this time. No need to feel obliged and research myself to death with minor details because I’m anxious that people could hate something. I never started big on comicverse in the first place, because I lack time and interest to read up decades worth of stuff just for a thousand parallel and AU timelines to exist in canon alone. So yeah, this series has a big fat “AU from the finale of X2 on” brand on it, and I don’t even need to justify it. That’s actually relieving.

And like. Next to Tales Untold, Weathered is my longest project, and with Weathered II, another 500,000 words or so will be on top of that in the end. If you don’t have intrinsic motivation for shit like this, you never finish it.

Not to mention, it would already be impossible to find more than like 3 people

a) who handle franchises the way I do (aka everything from the installation that I hate on doesn’t happen in my canon)

b) who happen to hate The last stand as much as I do

c) who love Scott Summers just the way he his in those two movies but also think that incarnation can use more screentime and layers

d) who ship Jean and Logan and are a-okay with giving Scott another female partner instead

e) who are also interested in a lot of elements and characters in that series being loosely based on the Marvel Universe comic and cartoon verse and

e) who like epic-lengthed fanfiction series.

Yeah, no. Imma be my best customer here. Uness some of my followers here are just DYING to know how a properly handled Dark Phoenix-take would play out, with Lilandra and the Shi’ar involved, and with the big conclusion from the cartoonverse, with the resurrection via the other team members’ powers... Those would also have to be readers who don’t mind OCs and ALSO don’t mind seeing frequent Marvel guest stars like Firestar from Amazing Friends, the Defenders of the Earth from the old cartoon verse, Emma Frost, Dazzler, the Morlocks, Elektra etc. AND there’s some elements from the later X-Men movies that are not horrible like the faceclaim of Kitsch’s Gambit and some version of X3-Hank ... Yeah, Imma see myself out.

At least I don’t even need to bother thinking about translating this thing this time. What a relief.

this post is not, like........... well, it’s not gonna be a blurb or a summary or a nice neat synopsis, this is not Professional Writeblr Business, this is, this is, uhhhh

works best if you imagine ur just like “hey man how’s it going” super casual and I grasp you firmly by the shoulders and look you dead in the eye and just ramble all of this without taking a single breath

anyway the purpose of this post is “hey people seem to know a lot about the characters and the worldbuilding and the premise but have no clue what happens in the actual story” so I’m not going to be talking about said characters and worldbuilding and premise in depth

in terms of rambles, that stuff’s been covered! this post assumes you know what Ports are, n what the nature of the ATDAO apocalypse is, vaguely what the MCs are like as people......... though I can fetch this info for you if you like

but yeah if you are coming into this post with zero prior ATDAO knowledge........... deeply deeply from the bottom of my heart: sorry

also if this is your first time experiencing One Of These Rambles

anyway without further ado

(visual representation of my approach to this rant, not of how complicated my plot actually is)

(my plot is not that complicated)

ALRIGHT

there are two viewpoint characters! and two plotlines which converge near the end of the story, but honestly there’s a very real possibility I will decide these are two separate books meant as companion stories to each other because I love making things difficult for myself yeehaw

ATDAO’s co-protags are Tris and Noa, best buds four years and counting. their friendship is one of the single most important aspects of the story, n the ongoing love and trust they have for each other despite the way unfolding events force their relationship to change is integral to the themes and making the heart of the story what it is. I will now proceed to not mention this friendship for the entire remainder of this post. they’re bros. that’s all u need to know. listen. listen. I have a lot to cover

so yeah, ur first key player is Tris Greer, whose parents are dicks but whose siblings are chill. most notably of said siblings there is Jacob, older brother by thirteen years, whom Tris believes is just about the coolest person on the entire planet. this plotline kicks off when Jacob gets caught in the midst of a freak car accident that kills a dude and wrecks a street corner and also somehow causes Jacob to just kind of................. blip out of existence entirely and without a trace?

n Tris is understandably horrified and distressed by Very Much All Of This, but hey, at least there are responsible adults who can look into this obviously Port-related weird disappearance and figure this mess out, right?

INCORRECT

the relevant interdimensional authorities are brought in to suss out the situation and these authorities are kind of like “hmmmm idk about this” but are all set to take Tris at least somewhat seriously until they learn the following:

that Jacob had already been reported missing to police in his home state three days earlier

that Jacob was in the midst of several ongoing personal crises and at least one nervous breakdown

that Jacob was allegedly tangled up in some real weird shit that would more than account for a disappearance under suspicious circumstances

that Tris is schizophrenic, prone to hallucinations, confusion, memory issues and quote unquote “letting his imagination and anxiety get the better of him”, and precisely zero people can actually corroborate his story that Jacob was even there are the time of the accident to begin with

and after some back-and-forth and Looking Into The Evidence pretty much everyone in any position of authority comes to the conclusion that this is just Ordinary Regular People Crimes and whatever happened to Jacob had nothing to do with weird apocalyptic energies, and that Tris is (at best) stressed out and delusional or (at worst) lying through his teeth because he knows more than he’s letting on

so Tris is forced to hop pretty quick from “I’m sure someone will handle this” to “no one believes me but I’m sure if I can find some concrete proof they’ll listen and someone will handle it” to Well Fuck I Guess That Someone Is Me

cue bizarre reality-hopping fantasy quest, which is ten times easier said than done when most of the time Tris is terrified enough just, like, going to the supermarket

he enlists the help of his new classmate Shara, amateur paranormal investigator and professional weird-bullshit enthusiast, who agrees to help him puzzle out what the fuck happened to Jacob in exchange for his assistance in mapping out Adelaide’s interdimensional “fault lines” as part of her ongoing quest to track down the source of the apocalypse

she’s got big fuckin dreams, ok, go hard or go home

slso worth noting at this point that there HAS been an uptick in Ports and their related reality-bending strangeness in Adelaide recently which is why this is of particular interest to her currently. gotta find out What Makes The Weirdness Tick, gotta find out Why The Sudden Extra Weirdness

..........and also Kai is there

Kai has no nice neat reason to get involved with the plot, Kai just likes drama and being all up in people’s personal business. Tris brings them on board for one single afternoon like “hey I will pay you some money to come to my house and fix my fucked up phone so I can listen to an interdimensional voicemail” but forgot the apparently key addendum “and then leave”

their first three chapters of knowing each other is basically Tris being like “stop inviting yourself into my house we are not friends” and Kai being like “that’s a rude thing to say to your friend. also your sister gave me the netflix password and I used your kitchen to bake pastries feel free to help yourself”

but yeah so Tris’s story mostly focuses on his quest to figure out where Jacob got yeeted to and how to get him safely home (y’all probably know a bit about The Unreality already maybe?), whilst also dealing with rising family tensions, whatever shifty stuff Jacob was involved with prior to his disappearance, and his own creeping doubts about his perceptions of reality

n I’m also saying flat out it’s not a plot that’s going the “oh the whole thing was just a delusion all along” route because ew

his psychosis is a fairly involved part of his character but the explorations around it are more to do with, like......... the difficulties he has in trusting himself and whether he has the luxury of letting himself get swept into some Big Weird Implausible Adventure when this has extremely different implications for him than it would someone else. n eventually to how his success and survival is not ~in spite of~ but specifically because of the different way he understands and interprets the world and the skills he’s developed

THAT TANGENT WAS A PERSONAL RANT IT WAS NOT RELEVANT I just have words to say on the subject of how psychosis is treated in fiction and didn’t want people jumping to the “none of it is real” conclusion anyway ok moving on

ur SECOND key player is Noa Yun, who has rather a lot on her plate right now. she’s broke as fuck and her mum is sick and her car is making Noises and she’s not getting enough hours at her job at Not-IKEA and everyone is on her back about her failing studies as if that’s a thing she has the energy to care about. feeling rather backed into a corner by life’s bullshit and her financial situation, she blatantly lies her way into a field job at the Department of Interdimensional Instabilities, because A) surely it can’t be THAT bad, and B) what does she have to lose?

so more or less what she’s doing is the equivalent of emergency services for Port-related weirdness, it’s going out and dealing with highly unstable otherworldly energies head on, navigating Weird Phenomena and bendy patches in reality......... it is, among other things, a job that’s relatively easy to get into because no one wants to touch it with a ten foot pole unless they absolutely have to

n the DII is a whole other post, this shit has lots of different functions and levels and branches and corruption and secrets and a tendency to view workers who have to go out and deal with the brunt of the apocalypse head-on as vaguely expendable and I’ve talked about it a bit before and in more Serious Words

things kinda kick off for her when in true Noa fashion she hurls herself into a dangerous situation to help out a coworker, n enters a pretty standard issue “overlap” where the barriers between universes are a little fucky, but hey, she seems to come out of it with nary a scratch, so it’s reasonable to assume everything is fine, right?

INCORRECT AGAIN

she basically gets some whacked-out otherworldly energies latched onto her that are now following her through her everyday life, and it turns out she’s starting to bend the reality around her the way certain types of Ports do, which is! obviously not ideal! she’s not exactly a Port herself, because she’s pretty sure that’s impossible, but it’s clear capital s Something happened to her in that overlap, and she doubts it’s good news. and to make matters even more disconcerting, she’s now being dogged at every step by strange visions of a child who speaks in an unfamiliar language and who seems Real Fuckin Pissed at her

so her thing is basically “I acquired fucked up reality-bending powers against my will and they might be lowkey killing me ‘cause Ports are notoriously unstable like that and also I’m haunted for some godforsaken reason” which all somehow ended up being, like, the least interesting part of her plotline for me lmao

oh and Noa also enlists the help of Shara, Because Ghosts

anyway yeah so her search to find out what’s happening to her re: Weird Children, being a Port-adjacent something-or-other, and whether there’s a way to stop her own unravelling leads her to (rogue computer programmer? mad scientist? general shifty bastard?) Laurence Marrick Thiele, who claims to have suffered a similar affliction in the past and now does some real interesting research on the subject. n this guy. well. he’s got some fuckin stuff going on

he definitely knows more about the nature of Ports than he should. also is he actually researching what he says he’s researching? also what’s with all the weird tech? also did he just straight up murder that guy Avery? all will be revealed later, maybe, if I feel like it

but yeah at about the same time as Noa goes “actually fuck this you’re shady as hell I’m out” she stumbles into, like, The Actual Reality of what Marrick is up to re: manipulating Ports and interdimensional doorways for his own gain, and the various ways this spells bad news not only for her but potentially for the entire city and anyone unfortunate enough to get caught in the crossfire, and she shifts gear to “actually you know what I’m gonna kick your ass”

there are various reasons for this, but first and foremosterly you have to understand that Noa’s got a fuckload of pent-up rage and she will bring it in full force the moment you say some stupid shit like “some people are expendable” or “it’s inevitable for the greater good”

(there’s also a fun ongoing subplot with her work at the DII where she and her team are investigating a string of strange illnesses with bizarre symptoms that appear to be spreading via obscure radio stations so that’s. happening. I guess?)

but yeah the main story here mostly follows Noa’s attempts to undermine Marrick, bastard supreme, and find a way to fuck him up before he goes, like, Full Cartoon Supervillain, n also like........... her attempts to keep up her work at the DII despite her rising paranoia that the teammates she’s growing to care about will notice her increasingly unstable state and the fact that she’s all tangled up with the very forces they’re meant to be thwarting. n along the way discovering the reality of what happened to her in The Aforementioned Overlap Incident and about her visions and such

so that’s all that. did that make sense

n she’s got a whole arc going on about trust and learning to lean on others, like, she comes into this story as a very standoffish person with lots of paranoia, she’s spent much of her life feeling like she can only rely on herself, n she’s. well. yeah, like I said, she’s got a lot of anger at the world and at the various systems that have failed her and her loved ones, n the story puts her in a position to become even more isolated

and her plotline isn’t so much “you have no reason to be angry or afraid” or her learning to Not Be, It’s more, like........... yeah you have every fucking right to be furious and of course you’re afraid! but there are people around you who love you and who will jump at the chance to defend you and who will help you carry the weight of your anger and grief and none of this needs to be yours to bear alone which is extremely cheesy

which applies to both her Weird Supernatural Goings-On as well as her regular ordinary life goings-on

I feel like Alice and Jet deserve a mention for Noa’s plotline but also this went on and on too long already so. well. Alice and Jet exist! yep. they work with Noa at the DII. I have things to say about them. I will not be saying them today

and uhhhhhh

in general, for Tris, his plotline, you wanna think, like, fantasy/adventure vibes which veer pretty sharply into horror, and for Noa you wanna think...... kinda, sci-fi mystery conspiracy vibes with a dash of some superhero bullshit maybe except not really

also the fact that Kai just invites themself into the plot for funsies and then is dragged kicking and screaming into caring about themself and making positive changes in their life means there was no convenient place in this post to be like

"oh there's also a whole major subplot about a time loop"

I totally agree with you about this X-Men era lol if you had creative control do you have any ideas for what they should do?

lol i’m not a writer, i’m a hater, so yknow. i think there are some things that can carry over. obviously marvel wants to be putting out as many x-books as possible, so i don’t think we need to limit ourselves (tho marvel REALLY should). for example, i think swxrd as currently exists could work without krakoa if you shift things around a little bit. If i had control over the whole line...

in contrast to krakoa, we’re going to try to keep things more grounded, which means the mutants coming into contact with humans/non-x mutants pretty regularly. i think this is important for the x-men who were stuck in Age of X-man stuff, and also for the people hanging out in Rosenberg’s x-men. we’re sort of trying to re-integrate the x-men into the world they want to help.

storm is leading the main x-men team, and this is also the book where most of the team-ups/events are going to happen. she and logan have a lot of solid connections to a) other teams and b) just normal people. so we can embrace that aspect of the team here. i’m thinking of this as the most classically ‘X-men’ book? I want Stevie Hunter to come back I think. I don’t really have a plot idea. we can still do something fucked with resurrection. maybe people killed in the rosenberg era start coming back…relatively fine? telepaths check them out and everything seems okay, but more and more it seems like that may not be true. this story i think is fun bc its like, using the idea that readers know about the revolving door of death to pretend the resurrection isn’t messed up. but surprise! it is.

i think i want another main x-men team, and i want dani in charge of it. she can work with some new mutant members, like karma, but also some x-men. i’d shove some big names in here, like polaris. maybe rachel and sunfire. i want banshee too, bc one of the things here is going to be dani being in charge of people who don’t really want to listen to her and aren’t her friends, and sean has been a guy who’s very willing to listen to much younger people (he meets the x-men when everyone is still a teenager), and to support them. this is the anti-authority x-men team.

jean and scott need some time to figure their drama out. they can do this in a team book, in the spaces in between missions, or we can shove them off into the future/past in the further further adventures of cyclops and phoenix. Here they’re forced to talk to each other bc they don’t know anyone else, and they need to cooperate or nothing will get done. i like this second idea, bc i love the adventures of cyclops and phoenix, and because this gives the characters the most space to have those tough conversations. plus, we can build whatever situation we like to mirror their conflict. Also i love a time travel story.

maybe cable still gets his own book, and we realize (if we’re reading both) that he and his parents are actually looking into the same thing, but from different perspectives (forward/backward). that’s fun. its like a family thing, and we can give cable more abandonment issues, but we see it when he’s actually a kid. we can give him some x-kids his age to hang out with, but i don’t really know those kids so.

anyway! this was fun to think about! like i said i’m not a writer so, none of these ended up having like. plots.

First up, literally anything by the Queen of Prinxiety (and stunning writing in general) @coconut-cluster. Hers was one of the first blogs who’s writing I got really invested in, and her writing is like the equivalent of snuggling into a warm blanket in the sunshine. If you haven’t read it yet I highly recommend you do. You’ve got morally grey villains, you’ve got wit, you’ve got a hoverbike named Brendon Urie. It’s an all round good time, except when, you know, it’s angsty.

The To Love And Be Loved series by @virgilsjourney It’s so soft!!! So light and sweet and comforting!!! You’ve got hurt/comfort (heavy on the comfort) with a large helping of mutual pining, and it’s the perfect fic if you need a pick-me-up after a long day.

Butterflies by @creativenostalgiastuff . I live for techie Virgil and this fic does not disappoint. Incredibly cute, Roman gets the validation he deserves, 10/10.

My true love gave to me by @lovelylogans Honestly my favourite oneshot of all time, I giggle the whole way through when reading this. The sheer magnitude of their mutual pining,,, incredible. Genuinely this fic is so wonderful and funny and lighthearted and sweet and hhhhhhhhhh. Looking at her masterlist I’ve also come to realise that she’s written a lot of my favourites, so I’ll just link that here! :)

Wet blanket , Life of the party and Social grace by @tulipscomeinallsortsofcolors. A tad angsty, but so worth the read, and they more than make up for any potential hurt with the gratuitous fluff. Hella soft, superb writing. On another note, if you haven’t already, you should absolutely read their jaw-droppingly amazing series Love and other fairytales. Romantic lamp and a heck tonne of cool worldbuilding, gripping plot and fae galore, prepare to become thoroughly invested.

A dragon’s tail by @theeternalspace . This one had me on the edge of my seat you guys, it’s so gripping you’ll wanna stay up all night reading it. You’ve got prince!Virgil, you’ve got knight!Roman, you’ve got Dragon!Logan. Need I say more?

The most adorable Parents!Prinxiety headcanons you ever did read, by the incredible @thelowlysatsuma , with a tooth-rottingly sweet fic to go with it by @watchoutforthefanfics . You WILL get cavities and you WILL sob at the soft domesticity of it all.

@shakesqueer-writes is lowkey a Prinxiety GOD so I’m just gonna link you to their whole entire masterlist of masterpieces.

The phenomenal It’s only logical by @tinysidestrashcaptain . This one is incomplete, but it’s honestly so perfectly written that it’s going on here anyway. I can only dream of achieving Virgil’s level of sass in this fic, an absolute icon. It’s a flower shop au AND a coffee shop au babyyy.

I can only assume from the remarkable quality of the writing that Keep him safe by @whatwashernameagain gets recommended a lot, as it RIGHTLY DESERVES. This fic is also incomplete, but so worth waiting for, each new chapter is a sucker punch of emotions and the character development is second to none. I’d definitely heed the trigger warnings on this one though, it does handle (very well and realistically) some darker themes. There’s also a raccoon named Cat and I love her.

A get-together and getting together by @hickory-dickory-doc-k Fake! dating! Fake! Dating! Fake! Dating! Fak- Ok but for real though guys this one is so gosh darn cute I dropped everything on Christmas day to rush upstairs and read it when the last chapter came out and I was grinning so much lemme tell you. I’ve read a lot of fake dating aus in my time and this one honestly takes the cake.

(I’d never) want once from the cherry tree written by @ace-corvid with gorgeous art to go with it by @blank-ace . YouTuber au!!! Virgil gets to be the chaotic conspiracy guy we know he secretly longs to be, and Roman gets the adoring fanbase he deserves. The humour is also on point. I mean, Deceit’s name in Virgil’s contacts is Snake fursona man, and honestly if that doesn’t sell it, I don’t know what will.

Of trying and towers by @parsnipit . An oldie but a classic, this story is phenomenal. It’s got action! It’s got magical curses! It’s got so many dragons! It’s got highkey terrified but also kinda badass Virgil! It’s so good you guys, the plot and the family bonding and hhhhhhh dragons are so cool.

Destined by @rosesisupposes . Oooooh this one has such a fun premise. Virgil’s a sage (kind of like a seer) and is just kinda vibing with the humans until sh*t goes down, ft sass, flirting, pun-based bakeries, and a coffee machine named Gilda. It’s great. I love it.

Long live by @meginoi . It’s!!! Essentially a really cool princess diaries au!!! How rad is that? Virgil is pretty much permanently stressed, but Pat and Lo are supportive bros and he ;) has ;) Roman ;) there ;) to ;) help.

Falling (falling) by @basically-i-write-shit . Don’t let their url fool you this fic is honestly so gripping, I stayed up way into morning bingeing it. Be warned though, it does handle some pretty dark topics, so heed the trigger warnings. ft. single dad Virgil and babysitter Roman!

A curse is a dream your heart makes by @romansleftshoulderpad This oneshot is a long boi but my god you will enjoy every single second of it. Roman gets cursed by the Dragon witch to act out classic Disney movies with Virgil, and it’s honestly so entrancing. Phenomenal writing.

Queen of fluff @not-so-innocent-bi-sander has so much adorable fics that I’m gonna link their whole masterlist because you deserve to treat yourself to their writing, and I’m also gonna add some quick links to my faves here because I love them: The reunion, Romance in the air…port, Guitar lessons. The first fic of theirs I read is the series The view from here, and it was so heartwarmingly sweet that it helped distract me from some pretty bad cramps, so I highly recommend you go check that out if you need a cute pick me up. It’s incomplete, but it’s mostly fluff and ongoing, so you won’t be left on any cliffhangers.

Thespian by @random-snippets is a heart-wrenchingly sweet hurt/comfort fic that I wholeheartedly recommend. Roman puts on a play in the imagination but neglects to tell Virgil that his character straight up dies at the end, and Virgil is understandably distraught. It’s ok though, Virgil gets love and hugs! Also just check out their masterlist because their writing is absolutely sensational, especially their pining!Virgil LAMP fics.

Through different eyes by @stars-and-rose . Roman’s a warlock who’s been ‘kidnapping’ Patton in an endearing attempt to get the handsome knight’s ;) attention. Super cute and a fun read, honestly it’s adorable.

A hero’s rescue by @stillebesat . Villain!Roman and Hero!Virgil ft a healthy dose of hurt/comfort and a a really cool premise. I go back and re-read this one a lot!

Hey! So I don’t really have an A03 account to comment on it, so I’m just gonna put my feedback here:

(This is for the 7th chapter in “A heart he couldn’t control” by the way)

WOO BOY THERES A LOT TO UNPACK

The platonic Logince scene is just- 🥺 -it’s really good, and just how you portray Logan overall in this story- I just love that caring nerd.

Another thing is how you handle Roman’s guilt in this, I just really like how it’s done and you can see his the fight to stay determined through the entire search. And he was SO CLOSE COME ON-

Speaking of being close, Remus’s dreams were really interesting. And also I know how it can be difficult (at least from my experience) to write dreams in stories, because it’s always the battle of explaining the scene as an out of world or abstract concept, while it still making sense for the reader. And you did a good job on it! And it was interesting to get more into some of Remus’s story and perspective in all of this, as he’s kinda been put to the side during the story for the sake of plot focus.

ALSO- that one dream that was a memory of Virgil and roman- I swear to god that hurt more than it should have for me. And I’m glad on how you kinda shed a bit more light on what they all were like previously, as everything kinda just got thrown in straight away in the first chapter, and it was just a really smart way to have a flashback-but-not-really to Roman and Virgil being soft and adorable. But GOSH DARN IT it just makes the recent events hurt so much more effectively now. Not to mention roman finding the books Virgil and Logan bonded over and that hurts just as well.

Let’s see...

Oh! And the ending- I swear- for a second I thought (well more of hoped) that it would be Virgil at the door and they could all live happily ever after, but- it being??? Nobody???? honestly it’s so out of context for me to really have any firm suspicions to theorise about.

But what I am wondering is if something happened to Virgil... cause he should have probably arrived back to the kingdom now, yet was noticeably absent from this chapter... hmmm...

But anyways, thank you! I really been enjoying the fic so far and I can’t wait for the next chapter! And I hoped you enjoyed this random long ask!

(Also please excuse me over analysing the story from a writing standpoint, that’s me just being a geek about story-telling and admiring the little writing choices, whenever you intended them or not)

Hi! Sorry this reply is so late. I had a busy week. But thank you so so much for this wonderful comment. Believe me when I say I’ve just been reading it over and over again. It really has made me so happy!

Platonic Logince is my jAM thank you!! And omg Logan is a character that doesn’t come easily to me, so I am so glad you liked how I wrote him! That’s such a relief.

And omG Roman’s emotions through this chapter were a rollercoaster. Just like Virgil last chapter, Roman’s emotional journey through this is super important and I really wanted to put some focus on it. 

Remus’ were probably my favorite parts throughout this chapter. He’s an important character, but a lot of his stuff is really vague and mysterious and short--so it was super cool to see more of him, and I can’t wait to write more for him too. 

Well, the good thing is next chapter is Virgil’s, so we’ll see what’s going on with him :D I already have the next chapter written out, actually, so hopefully it won’t be too difficult to edit like this one was. 

This chapter was hard because it had so many important elements--from emotion to plot to background--and the editing took forever because a.) it was a long chapter and b.) there was an important thing about it that I couldn’t figure out for the longest time. So to get a comment like this on a chapter that kicked my butt so thoroughly is such a wonderful feeling. Thank you so freaking much. And gosh, go ahead and overanalyze! I love doing the same when I read fics, and I certainly love reading comments like this.

You need to have The Sight to be able to see demon sigils. Patton has this ability naturally, and Dee has it because Elliott taught it to him. Otherwise, Virgil and Roman would be the closest in terms of gaining this ability, but a scared/skeptical part of them is holding them back.

Nope, they’re all different demons! The demon that Parveen summoned is notoriously difficult to contact, so a bunch of teenagers wouldn’t have been able to do it. Likewise for Remy; you can only summon him once you have his True Name, and he’s already destroyed most references to that (sorry Patton).

Yes he can see ghosts/demons, and you’re right that the scars (or rather the deal with the demon which gave him his powers and scars) are what lead to him being able to do it. The red is just a general indicator of something supernatural/not of our Realm.

There’s no relation between Elliott and Patton. Elliott is the child of a seer and a psychic, Patton is the son of witches. They’re similar, but different. (Also you’re assuming that Roman hasn’t liked the Snake Man since high school, but considered him off-limits because he’s his brother’s best friend).

They’re both aware of each other’s secrets! Technically they’re both doing their best to protect everyone, but that doesn’t mean they agree with each other’s methods or bond over the shared responsibility. 

Patton is indeed a witch, and Dee is a regular human who happened to summon a demon one time. Patton thinks Dee is the occult equivalent of a satanist, which he disagrees with because dark magic is unnatural/dangerous in his eyes (making deals with demons only leads to trouble!), and would prefer Dee not endanger his friends. Dee doesn’t like Patton because of his perceived moral superiority, and finds the way he can be so secretive and two-faced creepy 

Regardless, they’re both sitting in glass houses and have more in common than they think.

He may have been more involved as a believer in the past, though that doesn’t mean he was ever super open about it. He was aware of how it would look like to outsiders (being genuinely skeptical at one point himself), so he wasn’t going to paint a target on his back by talking about ghosts and demons and things most people can’t see.

Of course, that didn’t stop people from stereotyping and making those sorts of assumptions about their friend group anyway, but no one besides them really knew about their secret-- not even Virgil.

The result of that would depend on the being. Ghosts can kinda appear on camera, although it’s very rare for them to appear as a full bodied apparition, which is why they usually only manifest in spirit orbs or light/shadows. Poltergeists are better since they’re able to interact with objects, but likewise since they can’t manifest into a physical form they can easily be brushed off. Demons and other miscellaneous creatures will straight up not appear if captured directly on film; you’ll simply get video glitches and distortions.  

So essentially, they may technically have found something already, but capturing evidence that’s also compelling is a lot more difficult than you’d think. I imagine there’s a good chance that anything legitimate wouldn’t get taken too seriously because of how easy it is to fake evidence nowadays.

It’s not a weak idea at it, it’s really cute! (though I may just have a soft spot for the Ladylike cast and crossovers). 

The only thing to note is that I’ve chosen not to include Thomas’ friends in this AU because I personally weird about writing fiction about real people? (I was on the fence about including character!Thomas for a while too, tbh). So, apologies to anyone who’s sent similar asks or wanted to see any of Thomas’ friends; they wont be around!

They might have gotten the opportunity to chat back when Remus came back to help shoot the Room 1046 video. It wouldn’t have been a complete reconciliation by any means (dealing with years of baggage in one sitting is Hard), but now Remus is aware that Dee is open to discuss things again at some point in the future, so progress!

Patton’s A Baby Now- Agere!Sides AU (pt.4)

At least a few weeks went by before anything new happened. So far, Virgil dropped into the habit of regressing around the others, but only outside of his room if everyone else is free and in a good mood.

The others learned that he’s very shy most of the time, usually when he’s in his most babyish state. Sometimes, he’ll be talkative and bouncy, but still a bit shy.

All three of the other sides were looking into age regression themselves, accommodating to caring for Virgil but also filling their personal curiosity.

Patton was alone in his room the first time it happened to him. Patton held Thomas’s memories, his whole childhood, it made sense for him to be more childlike. He’s literally the most childlike trait when it comes to his normal personality, even if he was also a caring figure.

He found himself in his cat onesie, playing cartoons on his computer. He didn’t talk, didn’t color, or do anything “fun”, but he still felt...little?

He didn’t want to overthink it, and he let himself get lost in the one-dimensional plot of the silly cartoon.    

He jumped at the sound of knocking at his door, it was the middle of the day and Thomas was playing a video game? Did Thomas need him for that?

“It’s Virgil,” he called lightly, turning the door nob without waiting. 

Patton whimpered and pouted a bit when the door opened, closing out of his laptop in record time.

He hid his face in a soft pillow. 

“Pat? You good?” he questioned,closing the door behind him and sitting on the edge of the bed. 

“N-no..just wan watch cartoons by m’self...” Patton mumbled. 

It seemed to click it Virgil’s head. “Ohh, Patton. Does Logan know about this?” 

Patton knew he knew, and shook his head. “Nuh-uh. Just found out m’self, s-sorry,”

“No need to be sorry, I know it gets easy to feel bad about your age regression, like it’s wrong or something. But it’s okay,” Virgil smiled, and the regressed one of the two pulled the pillow away from his face. 

“Never regress before, don’t know how it happened..”

“That’s how it went for me to, darling. It’s gonna be okay, at least you don’t have to worry about the other sides judging you.”

Patton giggled, nodding.

“Guess so...”

“How little are you, sweetheart?” Virgil used a softer tone than he normally would, smiling softly in an attempt ti make his feel safer.

“B-baby, I think,” he bit at his thumb.

“Ohhh, so you’re really a baby, aren’t you?” Virgil teased.

“Nooo! m’ big, like you!” he tried to stay serious but giggled again. 

Virgil softly tugged his hand away from his mouth, and Patton pouted. 

“Well I was coming in here to ask if you wanted help with lunch for when Roman and Logan come back...But it seems you’re to little to do that yourself anyways,”

“I can be big, and make da food for everyone!” Patton offered.

“No, it’s alright, stay little. You’re just so cute, are you okay with the others seeing you like this?”

“I wan tell them anyways, can’t keep secrets...”

Virgil nodded, “If you are uncomfortable-”

“Noooo, want them to know,” Patton assured, going back to biting on his thumb nail. 

“Patton, no,” Virgil pulled his hand away from his mouth, and the boy pouted.

“Sorry,” he mumbled.

Something else seemed to click in his head, “Do you wanna pacifier, Patton?”

He shook his head shyly, and VIrgil didn’t believe him. He thought up a pacifier he knew the regressed one would love, and it appeared in his hand behind his back. He made sure to picture up an adult one, so the poor boy’s teeth wouldn’t suffer.

“Not even this one?” he held up the white pacifier, which had light blue craft gems, and read ‘kitten’ on the handle. He vaguely remembered seeing it on a tumblr page, and made it appear for him. 

Patton made grabby hands towards it, and once it was in his mouth he scrunched up his nose in an adorable way. He let out a small squeak, bouncing in place.

Virgil heard two light ‘pops’ in the commons, meaning that the two other sides had come back. Patton whimpered.

“How about I go talk to them about this? You can re-state everything when you’re big. This is just so they can meet little patton, and so they’re not confused in anyway, alright?”

Patton slowly nods, and Virgil makes his way out to see the other two sides,greeting them.

“Hey Virge, what’s Patton making for lunch?” Roman asked, greeting him with a light kiss on the cheek. 

“We haven’t started it..he’s little,” Virgil told them quietly.

“What?”

“Oh.”

“Yeah, I went into his room to ask if he wanted help with lunch and he was regressed, like baby-age,” Virgil warned.

“Younger than you when you’re little?” Logan asked.

“Mhm, he doesn’t know how it happened. I figured we can actually talk about it later, but for now, just go with it,” Virgil instructed, and the other two nodded. 

Virgil went to walk away, but he turned back around. “Warning, he’s adorable,”

The other two laughed as the anxious trait went to retrieve the boy. He entered the room, “Pat, they’re ready for you!”

Patton bounced in place, moving his blankets off of him and pulling the pacifier out of his mouth. “Why don’t you want the pacifier?”

“Dem judge me,” he shook his head, leaving it on the bed.

“No they won’t,” Virgil sat next to him, picking up the pacifier. Patton pouted, but he also wanted it. 

“Open your mouth, baby,” Virgil instructed, and Patton pouted shyly. He obied, and smiled softly once it was back in his mouth. 

Virgil got back up, motioning for the boy to follow him, but Patton pouted around his pacifier. “Help?” he made grabby hand motions.

Virgil took his hand, and helped him out of his bed. He was clumsy, and almost tripped over air. “oops!” he giggled.

Virgil walked him out of the room, and Patton let go of his hand and ran to Logan. He almost tripped again, but Logan caught him. “Hi hi, Lo!” he wrapped his arms around him and rested his head on his chest. The sight was adorable to both Roman and Virgil.

“Hi there, Pat,” Logan hugged him back. 

Two out of the four were now confirmed regressors, and Virgil had a feeling that he was right about it being something all of them did. Some would just endorse it more than others.

Lara Croft au (Part 7)

N/A: I feel I´m dragging this plot a lot. Is just...is hard to make them arrive at the temple at the same time. So, let´s see what I can come up here and well, everything to move the plot forward.

In the circus, at least in the one Amanda/Jimaine grow, have a few laws and one of them is the most important of all them. Mother is always right. And Amanda used to believe in this rule with all her body and soul- her brother too. Their bodies used to worship her word as well as praise their name in a sacrilegious demonstration of love- until Margalia was killed off in a confrontation with Dr. Strange. It changes Amanda´s blind fate for good.

If she can die...she was wrong and if she was wrong...I need a new purpose.

Count Mordo offers a new way to Amanda and Amanda will follow until the end.

I can do it. Is all about power.

Dr. Rory wrapped his arms around Amanda kissing her neck in a butterfly kisses - a loving image. A loving plan B if anything is to turn souer- and the man points to the distance where her blue eyes can see the image of the temple of Pheonix and Zaorva.

Is a temple, not a pyramid as Amanda thought, and so far the security isn´t as tight as Amanda was hoping.

Oh, since they have a decoy...maybe they never thought in upgrade the security.

"Here is the temple of Zaorva and Pheonix. The tiaras are there." his voice still murmours in her ear and the ship is already porting on their destination, yet, the smile dies off as soon they noticed a new boat already in their place to port.

"What is this?"

Kitty Pryde could tell something is wrong the moment she steps out of the boat-not in the literal exact moment, as she was so happy to be away from the boat in the first place- and Doug seems to receive the same message. "How many people know about the real temple? And I´m not asking this to avoid to talk about Larry here" and points to the chimera who has one of its heads above looking at Dr. Moira as if recognizing her and only her. "But...I feel we won´t have any easy"

And while Dr. Moira is gushing at the chimera as a mother to a small baby. A small baby who can devour the entire boat if so wishes.

Logan quips in his grumpy voice something more or less "And when our plan is ever easy?" and Kurt laughs amused- Kitty listen to the sound. She never heard this sound before- and adds "it wouldn't be fun if it was too easy" and well, Kitty can´t disagree.

"Oh, I knew the temple wouldn´t be a pyramid...still, do we have..." her words die on her lips as a new boat arrives with a blonde woman who is looking up and down to Kitty as if she´s a fat bug and sending a not so subtle look to Kurt.

Kitty suddenly has the compulsion to hit her face. No idea why, but, she does have the urge to bitch-slap her. Her eyes follow Kurt who is completely clueless or so appear to be. "Kurt, who is she?" she asked in a whisper.

And Kurt shurgs off not knowing what to say. And the blonde woman narrows her eyes at this. Dr. Rory is also not happy with this scene.

"Hello, Kurt. I´m happy to see you again. Not trying to do anything illegal, right?" Amanda asked flicking her blonde hair. Kurt noticed the man next to her who is throwing dirty glares at Kurt and only Kurt.

And Kitty could see the next move as Dr. Rory shots at them. Kitty uses her power and phases everyone, including Kurt, and soon Amanda shots at them with magic- as much Kitty can register- But as the chimera shows all its heads the fight stops.

Dr. Rory halts his hand. "A chimera is here...let´s not split blood now...Pheonix and Zaorva may be watching" Amanda make an ugly face at those words and Dr. Rory doesn´t mention anything.

Amanda cast a spell on them- her magic so dwindles it makes her panting and breath with some difficulty to cast this spell- and now the group can´t move.

"Next time, Kurt...I´ll murder you"

And Dr. Rory and Amanda enter in the temple. Once out of the view the chimera lick Dr. Moira and the spell is broken. "Chimeras can heal almost any curse" she explains to her friends. "few people know this" ________________________________________________________________________________________________

Count Mordo is finishing his duties as count. He may have magic, but, ruling a state still requires a sharp mind. Now, in his room, the man is glossing over the big mirror which is cover by a white sheet. A smile places in his face. Is more a smirk than anything else.

The man takes the sheet off and the mirror didn´t show his own reflection.  No. It shows Margalia Szardos looking furious at him. "Hello, you poor excuse of a witch. How is your staying in the mirror so far?"

"Release me Mordo or else..."

"Or else what? No one is after you and your daughter want your position. Not you."

"Then ...why keep me?" and she adds with confidence. "you know I have more knowledge in magic than you"

"No, I keep you because I know you´ll be a great sacrifice to one of my ...patrons, let´s say, and in fact, Margalia...you´ll meet one of them right now" and his smirk continues. "don´t worry...is possible your daughter will be there with you in a minute"

"If Jimaine can´t avenger me...Stefan will"

"Stefan? He´s far away as possible ...I think you should have re-think your strategy. Let´s be real...you don´t have time to do anything other than thinking"

And Margalia screams as the mirror is consumed by a green fire. Margalia is about to meet one of Mordo´s patrons.

This fic has one of my all time FAVORITE fanfic scenes: Logan coming out of the bedroom in nothing but low-slung boxers and surprise!!! Keith is over and Logan just does an about face and gets dressed. Oh, man. It brings me joy whenever I think of it. Also. MAC!!! Weevil and Logan almost killing each other lowkey (not the way they would’ve wanted to in the past but it still delights me), when Logan and Veronica are softkey fighting about money and Mac just straight up leaves the fucking apartment while they talk I die laughing. And that’s fun stuff, that’s not even touching the plot or the heavy material this fic tackles flawlessly. Plus??? A meaningful and well-rounded mystery to boot?? r*b could never.
