I love the secret gf stuff with Jason so much juat in general but you write it so incredibly well! It’s such a pleasure to read. Do u have any ideas or hcs about how the Batfam eventually finds out? My personal fav I’ve seen is Babs seeing a photo reader uploaded of Jason to their private ig that Babs somehow found anyways. Do you have a fav iteration of this theme or anything more like it?
I feel like the info hits one of them and spreads like an incredulous wildfire. (Ie. Once someone says something NO ONE believes them.) I think it would be most realistic if Roy slipped up to Dick, given he's in the Titans (yay for the recent issues) and Jay's close friend.
I think Roy would have 100% met you before and maybe even repeatedly to the point you have each other's phone numbers and the three of you occasionally go out for drinks, which is literally just him third wheeling while you sit in Jason's lap.
Needless to say, you're all close. And he's sworn to secrecy. Which he keeps up, for the most part.
Until he's on a stakeout with Dick and realizes it's where you and Jason were going for dinner... Cue confusion.
"Oh, shit, that's where Jay's date is..." He would mumble without even realizing it, more worried about the fact that the place might get blown up than about who was standing next to him.
Dick of course heard him and turned in disbelief. "Jason's what?!" He exclaimed. "He has a date?" Jason never went on dates. Ever. They had all tried a dozen times to get him to go out and he never did.
Roy quickly realized his mistake and (poorly) attempted to rectify it. "No. Of course not! Why would you think he's got a girlfriend? He has no game."
Dick's eyes widened. "I didn't say girlfriend, I said date because you said date. He's got a girlfriend?" He wasn't sure if he should be happy for his brother or try to kill him for hiding it. "Who is she? For how long?"
He'd instantly start trying to comb through his memories to find any signs he could have missed or start making assumptions about you based on his brother's type.
Roy promptly shuts the hell up and says nothing else. Dick, however, says plenty.
He tells the entire family, obviously.
And no one believes him.
He's a jokester and they think it's some elaborate stunt to get back at Jason for pissing him off. It takes weeks before any of them finally believe it and it's only because they start looking at Jason through the lens of someone with a significant other—something they never really considered.
He's always been a bit distant so no one ever considered that when he disappeared after a mission before check in he was actually calling you to make sure you knew he was safe. They notice the slight smell of something nicer lingering on him than his usual soap, because you liked it and he loved you. They realize the slightest discrepancy in his behavior in the field, how he's a bit more cautious and restrained because he doesn't want to risk getting hurt and facing your sad eyes.
Alfred, of course, knows. He's the one Jason always goes to for advice.
That's when the truth finally came out and Dick was believed. Jason had, like usual, gone to Alfred for advice, this time about the idea of proposing. He wanted to know if he thought it was the right time and of course Alfred told him if he was considering it to the point of asking for an opinion, then it was already a thought imbedded too deeply to push away.
A few weeks later, he was showing Alfred the ring when Damian, hungry for a snack after school walked into the kitchen and saw it. He then, promptly and politely excused himself from the room before loudly screaming "Grayson was right!" Through the whole house.
Jason just groaned, trying to escape before the endless questions could start. Not that it worked. They had him cornered in minutes and Dick looked like he had finally been validated.
"Who told you? Was it Roy?" He demanded, already envisioning ways to kill him.
"The better question is why didn't you?" He retorted. "We're supposed to know these sorts of things. Don't you think we'd be happy for you?"
That had nothing to do with it. He knew they would love you. They were just...a lot. A lot of trauma, a lot of darkness, a lot of danger. He already hated putting you in danger by association to him, he couldn't imagine what could happen if you got embedded in the entire family.
"I just- you're all are a bit hectic you know? She's not like us. I don't want her around all the trouble." And the endless embarrassing stories that his siblings could tell...but that was besides the point. "I want her to be safe and happy and...I didn't want to risk either by introducing her to you guys."
...
That...was the remarkabley sweet of him.
"I still need to meet her," Bruce would insist firmly.

The Fenton Effect
(Or that one time a few Waynes joined a polycule)
(This got really long)
Danny sighed as he looked out at the rest of the city from Tuckers office. His boyfriend had secured himself a spot at Wayne Enterprises for something something technology and his office was on like the bajillionth floor of the building. It had an amazing view though. If only there wasn’t so much smog in the air it might have been beautiful at night.
“Danny I thought you were picking up the kids today,” Tucker said with surprise as he walked in.
Danny shook his head smiling, “Sam said that she wanted Dante and Ellie to bond with her new girlfriend after school today so she will be picking them up.” He made his way over to Tucker, giving him a kiss on the cheek, “I heard that you had some free time today so I could tell you away for a bit. It’s been a while since the two of us have had some time to ourselves without children running around.”
Tucker eyed him suspiciously, “Did you call my boss and ask to take me out for a bit?”
Danny chuckled, “Maybe…” He sat down in a chair, “Well actually I was going to steal you anyways but I just happened to bump into Mr. Drake. He recognized me and told me that if I were to steal you for a bit he didn’t see anything.”
Tucker sighed, “Danny, you and Sam are always stealing me from work for dates, eventually I’m going to get written up!”
Danny pouted in response, “We only do it when you insist on double shifts for week. It’s almost like we miss our boyfriend. Besides if Me CEO agrees with me that you work too much, that’s saying something hun!”
Tucker thought for a moment and then looked back to Danny, “Okay. Let’s go out for a couple hours.”
Danny hopped out of the chair again, “Yay! There’s this new restaurant I found that is supposed to have amazing steak.” He took Tucker’s hand and led him out of the office.
“Mm you know how to treat a man don’t you?” Tucker said in response, letting Danny pull him along.
“I try,” Danny said back wiggling his eyebrows as they went to the elevator.
…
Jason sat on his bike. He wasn’t in his Red Hood gear at the moment since he was just doing some recon. According to Tim, there was a newer family in town that he needed to look into. Apparently one of his employees had a boyfriend that appeared to be an un registered meta of some kind. Which normally wouldn’t be a problem but there was also the detail that when Tim did a background check on the family, it came up that they had two children neither of which had birth certificates or adoption papers or anything. Like they had appeared out of nowhere. Though Tim doubted it, he had still sent Jason to check it out in the off chance trafficking or some other fishy shit was going on.
He looked at the photos Oracle had provided of the targets he was looking for. Two of the 3 were supposed to be arriving at this restaurant soon. An African American man, the one working for WE, named Tucker Foley. The other… well this was interesting. When Jason went to look at the photo of the other man he was looking for named Daniel Fenton, he noticed the photo was grainy and distorted.
“Babs why does this Fenton guy’s photo look like a horror movie filter?” he said into his comms.
“That’s the best I can provide you with Jason, I’m sorry. All photos anyone takes of him are like that. I tried to clean it up the best I could. The last known photo of this guy without distortion I can find on public domain is from a yearbook photo when he was 14,” she responded.
Well fuck okay. Something was definitely up.
“Could you send that yearbook photo my way? As long as the guy hasn’t made any drastic changes to his appearance like dyed his hair or some sort of Botox I’m sure I’ll be able to figure it out,” he said softly as he didn’t want the car that pulled in next to his bike to hear him.
“On its way,” he heard from Babs before he started to pretend to be scrolling through his phone while the occupants of the car got out and entered the restaurant.
While on his phone he noticed a new message from Cass. She had met up with the woman of the family he was tracking. They had gone to the primary school to pick up the children and was on their way to get ice cream.
The message was followed by a selfie of herself holding hands with a goth woman with purple eyes and black hair. Jason recognized her as Samantha Manson from the third profile Babs had given him. On Samantha’s shoulders was a little girl with dark hair and blue eyes, laughing and reaching for the camera and at the woman’s side holding her hand was a small boy who looked the same age as the little girl who looked almost like a carbon copy of her. Probably twins. He was waving to the camera.
Jason immediatly noticed slight distortion around the children in the photo. Similar to the distortion from the Daniel Fenton file but not nearly as extreme as he could still identify the children in the photo if he were to see them out and about.
He sent Cass a thumbs up in response.
“I’m assuming you got the message too?” He spoke into his comms.
“I did. Looks like the kiddos might be whatever kind of meta this Daniel Fenton is. They do both carry his last name,” she responded.
“And his face…” Jason said as he pulled up the yearbook photo Babs sent him, “Are we sure these aren’t just his kids? Who cares if they weren’t properly documented, that kind of stuff happens all the time in small towns. Have you ever seen Clark’s papers? A fucking mess.”
He heard Oracle sigh, “I have unfortunately. I would be inclined to believe your theory except for the fact that based on their ages, they would have been born when Fenton was 15 but according to my records and from what I can get from Tim, Fenton is more inclined towards men.”
Jason scoffed, “Is that it? That’s not much of a reason at all. People experiment. I’m into guys too but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have a few girlfriends before figuring that out.”
“AND,” Babs continued (Jason had apparently interrupted her), “There’s also the bit where based on the DNA samples Cass has picked up from the kids and Tim has picked up from Fenton, all three of them have 100 percent identical DNA.”
Jason paused. If the DNA was all identical, how is it that two of them are male and the third is female? That wouldn’t be possible without some external fuckery. Not to mention two identical children who only have the DNA of one parent and not the other? This was definitely not right.
“Are you convinced we should look into it now?” He heard Oracle’s voice say into his comms.
“Yeah yeah I’m gonna poke around,” he said while hopping off his bike, “Let me know if anything else comes up.”
Jason ruffled a hand through his hair, took a fucking breath, and walked into the restaurant.
…
Sam wasn’t nervous…. no not at all. She was just taking her kids to get ice cream after school. With a really pretty lady….
Sam had met Cass a few weeks ago at a small cafe when she was stopping by to get Danny a coffee since he was holing himself up in his workshop for two days at that point and she was hoping the smell would tempt him out of his hole. The two of them got to talking, well signing, while waiting in line and they had hung out a few times since then. Danny and Tucker made fun of her crush but who wouldn’t crush on such a beautiful lady?
Now they were standing in line for the ice cream cart in the park. Not many people went to Ivy’s park but that just made it better for Sam because the line was never long. Besides, None of the plants ate you if you respected them and the ice cream was guaranteed to be Ivy Approved which meant it was ethically sourced.
Currently, Dante was signing to Cass (Cass had told Sam that they didn’t need to sign back if they didn’t want to but Sam had told her that signing was an important thing she wanted the kids and herself to get better at) about his new favorite star that Daddy taught him about and Ellie was playing with one of Ivy’s safer sentient plants. Sam kept an eye on her.
“Now what did I say about the plants at Miss Ivy’s park Ellie?” she called.
“I can look but no touch unless Miss Ivy says so,” Ellie called back, smiling. She seemed to have made a friend with a rather large flower.
Sam nodded and smiled when the child remembered.
She then felt a tap on her arm and looked to see Cass signing, “Not many people come to this park, you seem to not be afraid of the rogue who has claimed it?”
Sam shrugged and signed back while she spoke, “Poison Ivy may be an extremist but I respect her want to preserve natural flora and fawna. My boyfriends and I have already decided that we want to teach the children to respect those things as well since they are important for the health of the people and the Earth. So we come here since Ivy does not have anything against innocent children but if one of them were to misbehave with a sentient plant, they would have an easier time understanding why it is wrong because Dante and Ellie have higher empathy than most.”
Which was true. But also the reason it worked so well is because since the plants were kind of sentient, Ellie and Dante could tell if they accidentally killed one and it made them sad enough to not want to hurt them. They found that out on accident once and since then the children have been strangely fond of the park. But she wasn’t going to tell Cass that.
Sam was nervous that Cass didn’t like that but honestly they were her children and Cass didn’t seem opposed to the park in the first place when the kids suggested it.
After a few moments Cass nodded in response and signed, “Boyfriends? As in plural?”
That was not what Sam was expecting her to ask and it made her blush in embarrassment that she hadn’t explained it sooner. “I am polyamorous. I have two boyfriends. The three of us raise the children together,” she signed although he had a hard time remembering the sign for polyamorous so she ended up spelling it out.
“You all date each other?” Cass signed, curious.
Sam smiled, she didn’t seem to be judging her lifestyle which was something she didn’t find very often. It was part of the reason they had to leave Amity Park in the first place. It was helpful when Tucker got the Timothy Drake scholarship which was a full ride for Computer Science and Engineering at Gotham University.
When they moved into Gotham after that, they weren’t allowed to live on campus with him so Sam and Danny had to start out in a small apartment near Ivy’s Park so they always kept some plants in the window for protection since they had children of course. Since then, Sam had gotten a job as a personal assistant for some rich woman her family was friends with and Danny was working part time at as a bartender during the night shift and was a stay at home Daddy during the day until the kids were old enough for school.
When Tucker graduated he was immediately hired on at WE and not long after that, they bought their much nicer house in a much nicer neighborhood close to Wayne Manor. Was it mostly Tucker’s salary? Admittedly yes, WE pays very well to ensure the employees live in good neighborhoods. But Sam made quite a bit as well and since Danny got the space to tinker with his gadgets and quit bartending as often (he still did it occasionally when his old boss would ask), he had started making a good amount selling his one of a kind clocks mostly. Sam just knew Clockwork was so proud.
Sam signed as she spoke again, “Yes, Tucker is bisexual and Danny and I prefer the term pansexual. We are all together because we are poly (spells it out), and we are open to any of the three of us dating others as well as long as we all discuss and we are honest. Because we have kids we want to make sure our bond and trust is always strong. We want to be together for a long time. See the littles grow up and all that fun stuff.”
Sam was excited to talk about it with someone other than her boyfriends or Jazzy on the phone. No one ever actually wanted to listen about that stuff because people didn’t like things they didn’t understand right away.
They were at the head of the line now though it was going to have to wait until after they got their sweets. Sam corralled the kiddos and asked them what they wanted. Dante and Ellie decided they wanted to share a sundae and Sam ordered herself the Ivy recommended option of the week. She also offered to pay for whatever Cass ordered but before she could, the woman was already paying for everyone.
Sam lead the kids to a park bench where they all sat down. Ellie and Dante immediately started to rock paper scissors for the cherry on top and it wasn’t long until Dante tried to cheat and Sam confiscated the cherry so they wouldn’t start fighting. She didn’t need them to accidentally use their powers in public.
“You didn’t have to pay,” she said, “But thank you.”
Cass smiled and very softly said, “It’s okay. I like you.”
Sam’s cheeks burned. Cass had told her that she did speak sometimes and that her mutism was selective but she didn’t expect her voice to sound so… pretty.
…
Jason immediately found the targets in a corner table. Most notably a corner table that Fenton had a view of every exit from. Only people who are used to either defending or fleeing at a moment’s notice did that. It wasn’t helping the theory that something was going on.
Fenton hadn’t changed much from the highschool yearbook photo. He looked slightly taller and he had slightly broader shoulders than before but overall the guy was still lanky and thin. His hair was still dark and he still styled it in a similar way. His eyes were still huge and round on his face. The most noticeable difference to the photo though? Danny was much MUCH paler. Almost like a walking corpse. And the eyebags were hard to miss.
Jason sat himself at a table within earshot of the two, ordering himself a beer and some appetizer he didn’t actually read. He was much too focused on listening.
For the most part, it seemed pretty normal stuff. Work, flirting with one another, commenting on the food. But then it got interesting when Foley brought up their supposed children.
“Dante told me you taught him about the dog constellation the other day. He told me Sirius was his new favorite star,” Foley mused.
A chuckle from Fenton, “Yes, he has been super into animals recently so I showed him some constellations like the dog, serpent, eagle, bull. That sort of thing. We used your old PDA to look up where they were in the sky and even pulled up pictures of some of the stars. He was floating with excitement when I showed him the Sirius star. He lost control though and Sam had to help me get him off the ceiling.”
Floating?
“I never thought I would say that I am glad that they don’t have all their tricks yet. Imagine if either of them went intangible when they were infants. I would have had a heart attack,” Foley responded.
Intangibility?
“Tell me about it! Highschool would have been a hell of a time if either of their eyes started glowing. We wouldn’t have had babysitters while we were in class,” Fenton remarked.
Glowing eyes?
“We already hardly had babysitters. I remember taking Ellie to math class,” Foley seemed to chuckle at the memory.
Jason noted all of the strange things the two seemed to be expecting of the children at some point. It was definitely not non meta human type stuff. One thing he did note though was that they seemed to have had the kids since infancy which at least boosts the chances of the children being their own and not trafficked or stolen.
Fenton got up apparently to use the restroom and Foley got up from his seat to sit in Fenton’s while he was gone. More suspicious behavior. But from what Jason could tell, out of the two of them Fenton was the one who would be the first to react. He sat with the view first and only after his leaving did Foley feel the need to take up the same position.
Jason considered leaving right then but he knew that he wasn’t going to get answers that way. The other reason he didn’t leave right away was a message from Cass.
Cass: They are polyamorous.
Jason didn’t know what that meant. He sent back a question mark.
Cass: They are polyamorous. Fenton, Foley, and Manson are all dating each other. They raise the kids together in one household with 3 parents.
Jason thought about it. That would make sense as to why they all shared one address. There was one thing though that it did open up. If Fenton was indeed dating both of the other two, that would mean that he was attracted to women. The kids biologically very well could have been his and he was simply a teen dad.
Jason: Has Manson mentioned carrying them or any mention of a mother?
Cass: No. She treats them as her own but she shows no sign of previous pregnancy. Plus neither of them look like Sam at all.
Jason: Noted. Keep me updated.
If Manson wasn’t the biological mother, it didn’t mean someone else couldn’t have been one. Jason didn’t really know how any of this polyamory stuff worked but from the way Foley was describing it, the relationship had already been established when the children entered their lives. Unless Fenton was unfaithful in some way? Jason sighed, biting his knuckles as he felt the pressure in his chest. The pits were acting up.
Jason looked up from his phone once he felt it calm down just to see blue eyes glaring at him. Fenton was standing a few feet from his table, his eyes staring directly into Jason’s soul. The man looked offended as if Jason had done something to him.
Suddenly he felt the Lazarus pits acting up again. It felt like he was shot through the chest with a spear of ice. Like… he was getting told off for saying something bad. And it felt like… it came from Fenton? Somehow?
Jason tried to make sense of it, looking at the man in front of him but he seemed to be satisfied with whatever the fuck that was and went back to his table, giving Foley a kiss on the cheek.
“You alright Danny? You glitched for a second there,” Foley said.
Fenton scoffed, “Some dead guy’s core let out a signal that pissed me off. Tried to insinuate that I cheated on you and Sam. Fucking prick.”
Jason panicked. How did this fucker know he died? Things were getting weirder and weirder and now this guy knew things about him that he shouldn’t have… he had to keep following these guys.
…
Okay so Jason didn’t get much after that. He followed Fenton and Foley back to WE from a distance. Or at least at a distance that was far enough for the pits to not act up. Ever since Fenton got close to him at the restaurant, the pits were going crazy. It was like the man made it feel different. There was no anger or violent urge. It was like he wanted to do something but he didnt really know what it was. But he knew it wasn’t hitting people like usual.
Nothing much happened and once he and Cass were recalled to the Batcave, he retreated and went to go meet B and the others. Even Tim had taken a lunch break for once to meet up.
“So what are your reports,” Bruce asked.
Before Jason could get a word out, Cass started signing excitedly and very fast. He didn’t catch hardly any of it.
“Cass, slow down a bit,” Bruce said trying his best to sign back what he knew.
Jason paid closer attention this time as Cass signed at a pace everyone could understand.
“I think Sam is really nice and a good mom. We went to the school together to pick up the twins and they were very happy children. Ellie was very bubbly and and Dante was much calmer. Sam took us to the park to get ice cream after and we talked a lot. She, Danny, and Tucker are in a polyamorous relationship and are raising the kids together. They said that they were open as well if any of them wanted to date others. They trust each other a lot and love the kids a lot. Sam had good values and was teaching the kids the same. I think they are unconventional but very happy as a family. Like us.”
Jason watched as the others nodded, some seeming to understand it more than others. Someone was definitely going to have to sit Bruce down and explain it. He was also going to ask for more of a crash course later. Probably from Cass directly. Or maybe Babs if she knew.
After a few moments of processing what he did understand Bruce turned to Jason, “And what did you find out.”
“Shit’s weird with Fenton. I’m going to go back and get more intel,” Jason stated, “But from what I got on the kids? They’ve been taking care of them since infancy. Mentioned parenting them as babies in high school. And they seem to think that they are going to develop powers. Glowing eyes and intangibility. Fenton mentioned the boy Dante being able to float already. Definitely metas.”
“Maybe we are being over paranoid. It sounds like a teen pregnancy situation in a small town where paperwork isn’t always filed properly,” said Steph, putting her hands in her hips.
Jason shook his head, “Nah that Fenton guy is fucking weird. Did shit that Bruce taught us. Made sure the table was seated in a corner where he had a view of every exit. Civilians don’t do that shit.”
“Only people who are expecting a fight do,” Tim agreed.
The entire room knew that was one of the first things Bruce taught them when it came to safety in public. In their line of work they always had to be vigilant for every possibility.
Bruce conceded, “Jason, keep following Fenton. I have some things I need to look up I think.”
…
Danny was fucking PISSED. How fucking dare that guy have the nerve to not only think that but then broadcast the insinuation from his weak ass core? He would never EVER cheat on Sam and Tucker! He would NEVER betray their trust like that!
He fiddled with his newest clock commission angrily, his core feeling personally attacked. There was a gear that wasn’t really working right and he was probably going to have to remake it but honestly he didn’t really care at the moment.
“Danny…” he heard Sam call. Her voice made his core purr, feeling the slightest bit better.
Danny leaned up from his clock and looked to see his beautiful girlfriend in the doorway, “Hi Sam.” He sighed, trying to let the anger fall away. How could he ever betray his loves?
Sam must have read his face like a book because she walked over and slid her arms around him from behind.
“You’re brooding baby,” she cooed, leaving a kiss on his cheek.
“I just can’t believe that guy! The fucking nerve,” Danny growled. Though his growl didn’t have any sort of malice behind it at the moment. Sam knew how to calm him down. Physical touch was one of his love languages.
“Danny it’s been a week since you saw him on your date. And you put him in his place. I know you would never do that. Tuck knows. That’s all that matters,” she said softly.
She was right of course. But Danny’s ghost instincts were super protective and he couldn’t help it sometimes. But again, she was right. He let himself take a deep breath mostly for her benefit to show he was trying to get over it.
“Good. Keep taking deep breaths. It’s okay to feel protective and it’s okay to let the feeling subside when the danger is gone,” Sam continued to talk softly, knowing she could talk sweetly to him until he felt better.
It was working. Danny focused on letting his core relax, the danger was gone. The only entities in his haunt were himself, his partners, and his children. No threat.
Next thing Danny heard was whooshing sounds as his kiddos flew into the room, both in their ghost forms. Their hair was white and their eyes glowed. Ellie’s glowed green and Dante’s glowed red.
When Dante first transformed, Danny, Tuck and Sam were unsure if they were going to be red or green since they were red back when he was Dan. When they did glow red, Danny guessed that it was most likely because it was what was familiar to him.
“Dante found a cool rock,” Ellie said excitedly.
Dante then presented the cool rock for Danny and Sam to look at. It was purple and looked like one of the crystals Sam liked to collect.
“Where did you find it,” he asked, just to make sure they didn’t just steal it from the collection Sam kept in her room.
“It was on the floor in Papa’s office,” Dante said proudly. Ah. It must have fallen out of one of Sam’s pockets at some point.
Danny smiled, looking at his son’s pride in finding it, “Good find buddy!” He turned his head to look at Sam, “What kind of rock is it Momma?”
Sam ceremoniously took the rock from Dante and used Danny’s bright work table lamp to get a look at it, “This seems to be a purple amethyst. Good work Dante.” She smiled brightly, encouraging the excitement of the kiddos for the find.
“Purple amythest,” Ellie repeated excitedly.
“It’s really pretty Momma,” Dante said, looking at the small polished stone. Danny could feel his son’s core buzzing happily about it.
“Why don’t you keep it in your room Dante? Then you can look at it whenever you want to,” Sam said smiling and giving it back to the floating red eyed child.
“Really?” Dante asked.
“Of course kiddo,” Danny added. He felt Dante’s core give off a burst of happiness. It made him smile.
“I’ll go put it in my room!” the boy said happily and flew through the wall out of the room.
Ellie then began to pout, “How come I don’t get a pretty rock?”
“When you find one, you’ll get to keep it too,” Sam smiled, “Now I believe your Papa mentioned a Bluey marathon scheduled for tonight. Why don’t you go get your brother and maybe together you can convince Papa to make you some popcorn?”
Danny felt Ellie’s core start to buzz with excitement and determination as she nodded and flew out of the room fast.
Once Ellie was out of the room, Sam gave Danny a kiss on the cheek, “Since Tuck is watching the kids tonight, how about we go get you some more relaxed?”
Danny chuckled, feeling his core buzz. He closed up the clock he had been working on and came to a stand, facing Sam.
“More like wear me out,” he said, giving her a kiss.
“Well of course,” Sam smirked as she took his hand and led him to her bedroom.
…
Jason watched Fenton for like a week. A whole ass week and he got absolutely nothing on the guy. The only times he ever left his house was for dates with either Foley or Manson or to pick up his kids. At this point Jason was positive they were his in some capacity. The DNA proved that much and he seemed like a pretty standard stay home dad. There was one time that week where after school he took Dante and Ellie to an observatory but as long as Jason wasn’t close enough for the pits to react to him he seemed like just some guy.
Jason slumped onto the couch in the first floor living room of the manor. He didn’t like being here but everyone was out busy today and apparantly someone in the family needed to be there to sign off on some sort of delivery. He didn’t understand why Alfred couldn’t just sign it but the butler had refused, insisting that Jason be the one to do it. It was so annoying.
It wasn’t like he had anything to do that day anyways. Periodically he had all his guys in his organization take a day off and he had promised them today. Not to mention he was “on rest” from patrolling after his fucking helmet broke after falling down a fire escape. Embarrassing as fuck. But he still had to wait for a new one because that was his last spare.
He just didn’t understand. On the surface level, Fenton seemed like a normal ass dude. But he knew what he felt. And knew what he heard. The fucker could tell Jason was kind of dead. And he did.. something to him at that restaurant. The pits kept pulling him toward the guy like he was some sort of fucking magnet.
“Master Jason, the delivery is at the front door sir,” Alfred said appearing out of fucking nowhere.
“Thank you Alfred,” he said as he got up to go do the stupid signing thing. Once it was done, he could jet outta there and start following Fenton around again.
Jason made his way to the front door and opened it only to find it was none other than the creepy fucker himself. The pits sparked in his chest making him squeeze the door a little too hard.
“You,” said the pale man, his eyes burning with disgust. The pits didn’t like that. Suddenly, Jason had an urge to make sure the anger on the man’s face went away. At first Jason thought that was fucking stupid but honestly… being nice might be a good plan.
Now that they were face to face in proper lighting, Jason was able to really get a good look at Daniel Fenton. Of course he knew what the guy looked like. Obviously. He had been stalking him. But this was the first time he had been able to really register it.
Like he had noted before, his hair was dark and he was pale as fuck. But what he hadn’t seen before was the way his hair was blacker than anything he had ever seen before, shining in places that the locks caught the light almost like little stars in a night sky. His eyes were big and bold, an icy hue that that sent shivers down the spine. He was pale of course but not in the way that made one think he had never seen sun before, more in the way that dead bodies look during funerals. All the blood drained from the body. His cheekbones were sharp giving his face a sunken in look like he was malnourished even though Jason fucking knew he wasn’t. His stature was lean and lanky but clearly he was hiding some muscle because he was carrying a big ass clock that no doubt weighed a shit ton like it was nothing.
Jason hated to admit it. He really did. However. Daniel Fenton was attractive.
…
Danny couldn’t fucking believe it. That dead motherfucker was a Wayne. His core buzzed with anger and he had to take a breath to calm it.
“Yeah it’s me,” said the asshole.
Danny sighed and maneuvered the clock into one arm and gave paper to the guy, “Just sign it.”
Now after doing this he realized that casually holding a heavy ass clock like a football was not the normal thing to do since the man obviously took note of it as he stared a little too long before taking the sign form. However, he already made the decision and he was gonna have to stick to the bit.
Once this guy signed the paper and took the clock he could just leave. Just fucking go. And he could make a note to never take a commission from this address again so he wouldn’t have to see him again. He could do that.
“Hey, I’m sorry about what happened,” the really fucking large man said as he signed the paper. Danny checked the guy’s core. He was being genuine. And it was also giving off confused vibes. Ancients, why- This guy didn’t even know what he did. Fucking of course. Ughhhh and now because Danny was a good person he was gonna have to explain it to him. Fucking great.
Danny sighed, “It’s… fine. Where do you want me to install the clock?” He wasn’t going to talk about this shit openly. He could do it once they were inside.
The man seemed confused but let him in anyways, “I don’t really know where B wants it. For now I guess you could put it on this table over here.”
Danny noted the small table in the entrance hall and put it down where he was told to. Once his hands were free, he collected the sign form from the man and folded it, storing it away in his back pocket.
“Now, I assume you have a shit ton of questions,” he said.
The tall man nodded, “So fucking many.”
A butler escorted them to a sitting room of sorts and disappeared again without a sound.
“Are you okay with him possibly overhearing any information I give you….” Danny realized he didn’t actually know this guy’s name.
“Yeah that’s fine,” said the man, sitting in a chair. Danny decided to sit across from him on a couch. It was off putting how docile this guy was acting with just how fucked up his core seemed to be.
“My name is Daniel Fenton. You can call me Danny. It seems you were never really explained to about this whole being dead thing,” Danny started. He didn’t really know how to go about this. With Dante and Ellie it had always been free knowledge for them to ask about whenever they needed but there was no sit down conversation where he had to like, reveal their identities or anything.
“No. I wasn’t aware there were rules,” the man said, a smile tugging at his lips at his own joke. Now normally, Danny would laugh at that. Because let’s be honest, he would. But he was a bit caught up in realizing that this guy he spent that last week hating was fucking huge. Tall as fuck. At least 6 foot. And his wingspan had be just fucking outrageous. His shoulders were wider than Danny’s front door at home.
Once he noticed that, Danny took an actual good look at the guy. His hair was black mostly, with a signature white streak in the front, no doubt a side effect of dying. It seemed to be a permanent feature rather than something brought on by transformation like for Danny and his kiddos. His eyes were blue, a solemn almost sad blue but they were still very beautiful. He had eyebags for days, probably didn’t get the proper nutrition very often only eating human food with no ecto in his diet. Sleep was probably not a thing either. He was nothing but muscle all over, no doubt an effect of him dying and then getting better. He was covered in scars as well that looked as though they healed a little too quickly to be proper. All in all, everything pointed to gaining the very sliver of his ghost powers without any of them making it to the finish line. Even so, he was the type of guy anyone with eyeballs would swoon over.
“Mr…… Wayne?” Danny guessed. He immediately felt the man’s core recoil in disgust. Okay so not Wayne.
“Todd. My name is Jason Todd. My dad is Wayne. Not me. Just- just call me Jason,” the man said quickly.
Danny nodded and redirected, “Jason, before I start explaining all this stuff, when did you die and how come that’s not the case anymore?”
He again felt Jason’s core want to pull back but none the less he still answered, “I was… I don’t know? 15-16? I don’t fucking remember it was a while ago. Anyways, apparently I got revived by the Lazarus Pits so I was only dead for like 6 months or something.”
Danny nodded solemnly. He knew what it was like to die young. And of course Jason’s core and ghost powers were all fucked up. Those pits were nothing but a shit ton of toxic, contaminated ecto. He wasn’t surprised that when given the chance to create a halfa they would do it in the shittiest way possible.
“Okay so basically, you’re gonna want to buckle in cuz this is about to be a lot,” Danny said, making himself comfortable. They were gonna be here a while.
…
Tim paced his office. Back and forth back and forth back and forth back and forth back and forth. This was a bad idea. Yes, the Fentons had been cleared but it was still a bad idea. To be honest, he didn’t really want to think about the fact that his favorite employee had been searched by his family for suspicious behavior a month ago.
Yes. His favorite employee. Tucker Foley. Not just his favorite employee but the best one who had never turned in a report late or found a problem he couldn’t fix. Technically his name was Tucker Fenton but the name change wasn’t official yet. Polyamorous marriage was illegal so the family had to send in papers to change their names legally so they would share a last name with their children.
Tim had been eyeing Tucker since he met him which was honestly far too long after he had joined the company. He had been so busy that he had never actually seen the guy face to face until he happened to pass his office and saw the man dutifully typing away at his computer.
He remembered just how immediately he noticed the attractiveness of the man and at first was sad to hear he was in a relationship. He thought he was with a woman named Sam at first. And then a few weeks later he started seeing Danny in the office too. Tucker was poly. Had two partners. And two children with them. A family man.
Then his family started tracking them all and it gave him an excuse to hang around Tucker at the office as much as possible. Of course he only ever got normal vibes from the guy until he noticed some background tabs running on the PDA he used alongside the desktop the company provided.
Of course Tim found time during a date Danny and Tucker went on for lunch to snoop through it. The tabs were all mostly data except one that was in the process of breaking down a government firewall with a prewritten program. Some organization called the GIW. Tim looked through the rest of the computer. There were files on Tim and the rest of his family. Files on WE. Files on the company’s funding and where it all went. He had done his homework before taking the job clearly.
Of course it all looked suspicious at the time. But things had changed since then. Danny Fenton had sat Jason down and explained a lot of things. Who they were, why they were in Gotham. Who they used to be. It made alot of sense.
And it made sense why Danny readily shared the information so freely. After Tim found the files on the PDA, of course he hacked it and sent it over to Babs. After Jason made a fool of himself at the restaurant, the PDA started having files added to it. Of the Bats and the birds. And a very well written and polite file stating that Tucker knew his PDA was fucked with. The vigilante files were his way of telling everyone he knew who they were.
So the Tucker guy was fucking smart and didn’t really give two shits about computer privacy. Now any normal sane person would have found this very concerning but for Tim it only fueled the highly inappropriate crush he had begun to develop on the guy. How hot is it that the guy was cordial enough to write a file detailing that he knew they were watching him and that he was honored to have been hacked?
So… there Tim was in his office. Pacing. He was about to do the craziest shit. He was about to ask out the hot guy from the tech department. Was it a good idea? No. Absolutely not. This guy was about as crazy as he was. Oh but he liked that. He really fucking liked that. He also loved the tracker he found in his shirt after stopping into the guys office to give him some paperwork. It had taken him about a week and a half to find it and since Tim only had 3 shirts he wore to the office, he wore it around alot in that time.
After that, Tim left his own tracker in Tucker’s PDA only for Babs to find a new file on it that simply stated, “Found it.”
How fucking hot was that? He found it in no time even after Tim had taken the time to make sure it was inside the thing. Since then they had been placing trackers on one another whenever they passed, taking turns and making sure the other knew when they had found it. Tucker was always faster. He had yet to take longer than 24 hours to find it no matter where Tim hid it. It was like the hottest kind of flirting Tim could fucking imagine.
So… now that Tucker was cleared of any suspicion, he was free game. When Cass told everyone in the Batcave that the relationship was open to other partners, he nearly had to turn around in order to hide the excitement from his face. He kept his cool though, obviously, he was a professional.
He didn’t mind Tucker Fenton having other partners. He didn’t mind that he had kids. He wasn’t the only one either. He could tell that Cass was crushing hard on Sam and sure enough a week ago, the two of them were official. Now he just had to make his move and ask Tucker out. That was all.
Tim heard a ding on his phone. He looked to see who it was. Barbara.
Babs: New file just got saved to the Fenton PDA.
Tim’s heart raced. Tucker had probably found the tracker he had slid under his collar during their meeting that morning.
Babs: You two really need to bone, this is getting ridiculous.
Tim: WHAT DID THE FILE SAY BABS
Babs: I didn’t open it. The file is literally titled “For Tim Drake (if anyone else opens this I’ll make sure a virus melts your software)”
Hot.
Tim: Pull it up on my desktop.
Babs: On its way you sicko.
Tim rushed to his computer to see a file open on the screen. It was a google doc that Tim was given permission to edit. At first, the doc seemed blank but he knew Tucker well enough now that he knew that there was more to it.
He used his mouse and clicked Select All and sure enough, white writing appeared on the screen. He changed it to black so he could read it properly and he found a series of dashes and dots. Morse code.
Tim felt his heart rate rise at the little game. He had told Tucker in passing that he couldn’t read Morse code but he knew how to sit down and translate it if he wanted to. And the man was so perfect he had remembered.
Tim got out a piece of paper and started decoding the message that looked to be like a poem of sorts. It didn’t take long at all. It turned out to be a series of quotes from media and literature that Tim had at one point brought up enjoying in passing.
“All we can know is that we know nothing. And that is the height of human wisdom.”
“She had an evil face, smoothed by hypocrisy; but her manners were excellent.”
“Knowledge is power.”
“Memory is not what the heart desires. That is only a mirror.”
“Elementary, my dear Watson.”
“O Captain! My Captain!”
“Unless I be relieved by prayer, which pierces so, that it assaults mercy itself, and frees all faults. As you from crimes would pardon'd be, let your indulgence set me free.”
“To die would be an awfully great adventure.”
Tim stared at the quotes knowing that there was more meaning to them. Knowing Tucker, there was probably a certain letter or word from each phrase he needed. He wasn’t provided with a key to solve it so it must have been pretty simple. Then he got it. And his heart raced.
He responded by calling his secretary to tell one Tucker Fenton (Foley) that he needed to send in in his schedule for the next week.
Not 20 minutes later did he see new writing on the google doc, “I’m free Friday night.” Who cared if it was a bad idea.
Tim smiled wide, texting Babs excitedly.
Tim: TELL B I CANT PATROL ON FRIDAY
Babs: Why?
Tim: IM GOING ON A DATE
Little did Tim know that the moment Barbara saw the message, she breathed a sigh of relief, “Fucking finally.”
…
Okay so here was the deal. After Danny had explained everything (including the pits actually being a core and the fact that Danny’s children were the de-aged results of cloning and timeline fuckery), he had started helping Jason stabilize his core. And Jason was thankful for that but at the same time… as more and more time went on spending his off moments with the guy, his core was acting all kinds of weird. He didn’t really know how to tell Danny about it because the last time he had tried to explain the weird pull and very odd pleased hum his core had whenever he was around Danny, the guy had waved it off as because he was the Ghost King and all that. Jason was trying to believe that was the case but now that he was in the Fenton household sitting across from Danny in his workshop… it was hard to ignore.
“Well Jason, you definitely look a lot better than a week ago,” Danny said while staring into Jason’s chest. He knew that it was because his core was supposedly around that area but with the fact that he was wearing a t shirt that had shrunk in the shitty dryer in his apartment, he was feeling a little exposed.
“That’s good,” he said clenching his fist to try and ignore the almost purring sensation his core made at the compliment.
“Just a few months and you’ve been reconstructing it really well,” Danny said continuing to stare.
Jason nodded, he had been trying to do the things Danny told him to, added pure ecto to his diet and tried being more open to listen to his core. Although most of the work had been done by Danny, placing his hands on Jason’s chest, shuffling his shattered core pieces around and trying to fit them back together. It had been a joke for a long time that he “came back wrong” but according to the literal Ghost King, it was actually fucking true.
Jason noticed Danny was still staring. His core buzzed, liking the attention. He had to try and distract himself.
“So I noticed when I came in it was awfully quiet. Normally Dante and Ellie meet me at the door,” he said, clenching his fist tighter. He had to change the subject.
Danny looked up from his chest, “Oh uh yeah. Sam and Cass are on a date and Tucker took the kids out to an escape room with Tim. So it’s uh… just us at home at the moment.”
Jason wasn’t as good at reading body language as Cass but he knew enough to know that Danny was acting stiff around him which he wasn’t used to since before they started his core reconstruction therapy.
“I get you all to myself then,” he said chuckling trying to be lighthearted. Was Jason normally this civil around other people? Fuck no. But with Danny… he really couldn’t help it. It honestly felt more like the old him before he died. Before he went all… murder psycho because he literally came back wrong.
He watched as the shorter man in front of him began to actually gain some color in his cheeks. Holy hell he didn’t know Danny was capable of that. He thought the dead guy look was a permanent thing. Jason kind of liked it though.
“I guess you do,” Danny said allowing a small smirk onto his face.
Oh. OH. Jason’s core really liked that. And it must have done one of those things where it told all the other dead people around because Danny’s smile grew wider. What Jason didn’t expect was feeling a mutual positive energy from Danny’s core in response.
Jason felt his own cheeks start to burn the slightest bit, not really knowing why.
“Actually Jason… I didn’t ask you here today just to check on your core. Or because I’m technically your king and I can,” Danny said.
Ah yeah that. Jason knew that because he was dead Danny was technically like, royalty to him. But it had never really clicked since he never acted all high and mighty like that whenever they were together. Which was a lot. But now that Danny mentioned it… he technically could have have power over Jason that he could use whenever he wanted.
His cheeks burned a bit more at that, his core reacting the same way it did before. He really needed to get more control over the sending out core vibes thing because Danny reacted to it again.
The Ghost King’s cheeks grew pink, “I didn’t know you were into that,” he said, leaning back in his chair, the motion causing light to reflect off of his hair like stars, “I wanted to talk to you because your core has been flirting with me non stop since we started your reconstruction therapy.”
Ah fuck. Jason knew Danny was hot but his core was really betraying him by telling him that.
He looked away, embarrassed. Admittedly, it wasn’t like the thought to flirt hadn’t ever crossed his mind. After Babs, with come help from Cass, really explained what polyamory was to him, he had entertained the idea once just to see what would happen but Jason very honestly didn’t know if he liked the idea himself or if it was just his core longing to be close to its king. Or at least that what he was telling himself
“Listen I’m not mad Jason,” Danny said. Jason felt cold fingers brush his cheek to turn his head to face the man. His body reacted the same way if always did when Danny touched his chest for reconstruction. Like a very pleasant bolt of lightning had stuck him, the buzz spreading throughout his body.
Jason knew Danny was a touchy kind of person and he had accepted that but god fucking damn it was still a lot of physical feeling from one touch that he wasn’t used to.
Jason had dated other guys before. He had been more than close and personal with a few. But touch was always a dull feeling when it came to anybody. Danny was the only person he could really… feel. Like back when he was alive. Every touch felt real and not disconnected. He could actually feel the pressure of a hand on his skin and the tingle of when skin brushed his own. It was… electrifying for the lack of a better term.
“I just want to talk about it,” Danny said.
Jason didn’t know how to talk. He didn’t even really know how he felt. He was running on pure instinct and LOTS of willpower to fight said instinct.
“Danny, I- don’t know how-,” Jason started, not really knowing how to communicate into words about it. Clearly he didn’t have to as he could tell his core had betrayed him again.
“It’s okay. I can talk. And if I say anything you don’t like or agree with, you can let me know. How’s that?” Danny asked. It was right about now Jason noticed that Danny hadn’t let go of his face and he was really close. His core liked that. And honestly, so did he. Jason didn’t mind staring into those big blue eyes for a bit. He nodded.
“I like you Jason,” Danny started. Jason’s core? Loved that. But Jason’s brain and probably his heart was waiting for the “but.”
“And so does my core. I think you are good for me,” Danny continued. There was no “but.” It made Jason’s innards do a fucking somersault into the splits.
“Wait you do?” Jason asked, studying Danny’s face. He was still blushing which was a good sign but sometimes you just need to be sure and double check you know?
Danny nodded, making Jason’s core buzz excitedly. Now up until this moment, Jason was very much repressing his own thoughts when it came to Danny. He was slow to catch up when it came to, well, feelings. Well let’s just say Jason was all caught up now. And his cheeks were burning as his lips curled into a smirk.
Jason felt a very strong core response from his king, full of flustered and dare he say lustful emotion that made his core and his chest burn with a desire to pull towards him.
Jason was no good with words. Terrible infact. And Danny knew that about him. So if he had any chance of communicating effectively, he had to take his foot off the brake and let his instinct do what it wanted.
“I’m about to do something stupid,” Jason warned. And then he pulled Danny closer into a kiss.
He felt Danny’s core purr in response as Jason’s lips felt like they were dancing on lightning. Everything felt right. He let his core say whatever the hell it wanted because it knew what to do. He just focused on how right right everything felt.
After they broke apart from the kiss, mostly because Jason needed air in a way Danny really didn’t, he locked eyes with the gorgeous man in front of him. Now that he wasn’t restraining himself, he was letting himself take in Danny’s beauty.
“Be my boyfriend,” Danny breathed, an icy sensation tickled Jason’s ear as Danny’s breath left the slightest bit of an icy fog in the air.
“Deal,” Jason responded, his breath catching up.
Jason’s body burned with sensation and he wondered if this was what being alive felt like and Danny pulled him into another deep kiss and hurriedly dragged him to a bedroom.
…
Extra:
Bruce at some point after all this: Where are all of my children?
Alfred: Well sir, almost half of them are at the Fenton household at the moment and the others…
Bruce didn’t even listen to the rest, he just sighed. He should have known. Fentons had that effect. He still remembered Jack from college.

"who asked first" with the yellowjackets
yay! I'm back! the decision to open a new blog just for yellowjackets wasn't easy at all, but since it's been a year since this obsession has barely gone away and I already had an extremely confusing blog with layouts and the like, I wanted to start over with this one. hope you like it. I'll make a very simple and small prompt first, and then I'll make the masterlist and the oneshots/fanfics. stay tuned! sorry for any grammatical or coherence errors, english is not my first language and I'm trying to improve!
--------
who asked first with the yellowjackets girls...
jackie taylor.
well, if we're going to be honest here, you definitely asked first.
of course, jackie had already been rehearsing for weeks how he would ask you out. but she's obviously a girlfaillure, so you definitely asked first.
it was probably when she least expected it. it could be at soccer practice, or when you were coming home from school together and you had the audacity to ask her to go out with her to some hypothetical and boring place in the middle of the street… whatever.
all I know is that this little loser was eager for you to ask, and she definitely rolled out the classic, "took you too long…"
shauna shipman.
again, you asked first.
shauna doesn't have the social tact to ask you out (she's just like me), and drunk is even worse, so you actually had to make the first move most of the time.
just like jackie, it could have been when she was at soccer practice, or when she was alone enough to vent to her journal and you were able to get close to her without scaring her. anyway, the thing is, shauna was already secretly expecting this to happen (a lot of her journal pages were about you btw), so it wasn't a surprise either when you asked her out.
despite everything, you didn't have any difficulties on your first date. she's pleasant company, I suppose.
natalie scatorccio.
one of the rare exceptions where she asked first.
okay, don't be fooled, either. natalie is very cocky from time to time, but asking to go out with you is definitely one of the times she tends to weaken. so, kevyn probably dared her to do it and she just took advantage of her cooler personality to use it on you.
but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. in fact, it's kind of a good thing (and probably depressing for her) because she only felt like herself when she asked you. I see in nat a huge tendency to ignore some of her feelings, especially when it comes to people she likes.
the invitation was probably also full of teasing on her part, from body language to the words used for it. and somehow she made it look cool and convinced you to accept it.
things that only natalie scatorccio could do.
lottie matthews.
for some reason, I'm 100% sure you asked first.
I know many of us think of lottie as a completely carefree, liberal and often bitchy enough person to ask someone out on a date. but, if we count the pre-crash, I think she was a very insecure person and uncertain of her feelings, more due to the influence of the pills.
so, as incredible as it sounds, you asked first. it was in an extremely relaxed conversation between you that the invitation ended up unintentionally, and she was visibly panicked when she agreed.
lottie is probably the type of person who has a rehearsed speech in front of the mirror while getting ready, and with her enviable style and expensive clothes (some stolen), she would do anything to make your date the perfect date.
taissa turner.
she asked first.
taissa is confident enough to ask you out, I have no doubt about that. but she definitely spent weeks planning the perfect invitation, just in case everything went wrong and she needed to run (just like what happened when she thought about breaking allie's leg before nationals).
anyway, taissa would certainly ask first and it would be quite a surprise for you. taking into account that, from the moment you accepted, you would discover that van also knew about her friend's ideas, and later that half of the team also knew. it would be a shock because you wouldn't understand tai's intentions at first.
but none of them are necessarily bad. one, is that tai was really excited if you accepted, and her anxiety couldn't stop her from wanting to tell the world. two, because she was overly excited that you had agreed to go out with her, and wanted the world to know it as well.
van palmer.
as much as I would really like to prove otherwise, you asked first.
van has the same problem as lottie, but in her case, it's excessively because of the sarcasm jokes and high charisma. she thinks she's being too much for you and that asking for something like that on this level would end up scaring you away.
in the end, it's totally the opposite, but it's going to take van a long time to figure that out, specifically. the invitation would happen when she least expected it, probably when you were feeling confident enough to pass notes to her during classes.
it's a cute invitation, and one that van would hold in question for a long, long time.
misty quigley.
there would be no other answer. she asked first.
misty has no shame in admitting that she has a crush on you. and of course, to ask you out on a date, this shame decreases even more. she doesn't even care if she will be made fun of by her colleagues, what really matters is that she planned everything for you to accept.
and when I say everything, it really means everything.
from the moment she will slide up to your table and quietly ask if you accept, to the tone of voice she will use to persuade your brain to accept, to the place she will take you hand in hand and then let it slide. … she literally thought of every detail.
and, well, knowing misty quigley's ability to create plans, the whole thing worked out… until you figured it all out and admitted that you liked it even more, much to her surprise.
laura lee.
you asked first, of course. there would be no other answer either.
of course, not ruling out the possibility of laura lee asking first, given her hidden impulsive personality, but, in this case, taking the obviousness into account, you asked, and had to be careful with every line said in the invitation.
of course, it needed to be at a time when you were alone, because you were afraid that pressure from other people would make you feel suffocated. this, of course, did not happen. she thought it was a classic weekend outing, like you guys usually did, until she realized your real intentions.
and, truly, at no point did it make her feel restrained or scared. she was ready to be vulnerable and be herself around you, no matter what.
(but, if you casually ask lottie at some point, she will definitely claim that she saw laura lee rehearsing some speeches and compliments for you in the locker room mirror…)

It Was You
Kang Haerin x Fem Reader

Sequel of 『 Gaeguri 』
※ Recommend reading the previous one if you haven't
[ Synopsis ]
Y/n, Y/n, Y/n. Always on Kang Haerin's mind. She can't help but always wonder about you and the small things you do.
Fluff, Angst (a bit?) | Haerin's backstory
[ Word Count ]
2.9k
[ a/n ]
I wasn't planning on doing a sequel of Gaeguri but my birthday just came and I wanted to do something special(?) and my mind was minding at the moment, imaginations flooding so I knew I had to make one!!
ps. My bday was like a week ago lmao
Happy 17th to me! Yay <3

Haerin was never the social type and every person who met her understood that more than they understood their everyday lectures at school. But the word "never" might be too overstating.
The quiet girl who would peirce her gaze and flee away like the wind before you had noticed, used to laugh wholeheartedly while chasing her friends whenever they'd go to a nearby park and decide to play tag out of nowhere. She might've not been a radiating sunshine every time everywhere like little Mo Dani, but there wasn't a doubt that she was the next thing close to that. But even the so-called "sunshine girl" Danielle doesn't know this side of hers since Haerin had completely shut it down years ago.
The first day of 6th grade, the 6th time moving to another new place. It wasn't really helped when Haerin's dad's company assigned him to new places almost every year which he could've moved on his own but Haerin's mom insisted that "family should stick together"
So there she was from one place to another, almost every new school year it was always new faces. New faces that she felt like never getting used to. Determined at the first few times they moved, Haerin would do her best and open up to people, wanting to make new friends and have fun memories like she used to back at her original home place. But as it became the 4th and 5th, she began to wonder, what was the purpose of making friends when they'd soon become a past, a distant memory to her anyway? Haerin stopped trying, letting people come and go, not minding who would stay with her. Socializing was a lost cause is what Haerin had learned living her life and she stuck to it till high school.
Meeting Danielle was one of the most interesting things Haerin had experienced in a long time after she had shut down her natural beaming side. She was used to people leaving her. It was either they got bored of the girl for being quiet most of the time or they were dubious of her. Because most of the others would at least speak even if they were introverted but Haerin would just be silent, never starting a conversation, not uttering a word unless she had to. So when Danielle stayed by her side despite the girl not talking at all, she felt something strange stir up inside her. Haerins parents had reassured her that as soon as she had started high school, they would stop moving around, which the girl wished could've happened sooner but it was a thing that she had no control over, so she just nodded and accepted the situation in silence.
Haerin was walking her way to the gym for her usual basketball practice. But then she saw someone familiar from the sidelines, watching the other members practice with eager eyes, locked on each player moving in the court. It was none other than Y/n L/n. She knew Y/n's existence since way back because Danielle would casually bring the girl up during their conversations. Dani didn't even have to bring her up for Haerin to know because Y/n was well-known by the whole school. Her cheery personality and kind heart had already made her the heartthrob of the campus except, Y/n herself was a bit dense to realize that fact. How Danielle had portrayed her as "the sweetest soul on earth" and how the people around her smiled when they were with her, proved that Y/n indeed was an amazing person inside and out. And Haerin might or might not have thought of wanting to try and talk with her, just a tiny bit. But she could never admit nor say that out loud because somewhere deep down Haerin was still indecisive about opening up to people.
So Haerin was surprised when she was yapping about a particular crochet frog key holder and its origins to the Y/n L/n without realizing it. Not even a hi or hello but about a goddamn Banded Bullfrog. Unexpectedly, hearing Y/n's response made Haerin's eyes go wide. She knew about frogs because she had actually listened to Mr. Min's lecture when everyone was either sleeping it off or paying attention anywhere but in class. Half taken aback half astonished, Haerin's curiosity for Y/n had perked up making her continue their conversations without an awkward moment which was another new thing to Haerin because all she remembers is her former classmates from years ago stuttering being all awkward not knowing how to communicate with her.
Y/n's image had strongly imprinted on the girl's mind as she couldn't stop taking a glance towards the girl sitting on the bench. What if she suddenly leaves? Why was she even here in the first place? Y/n was a member of the school council and usually, they'd be busy pondering and staying in the council office for hours. Well, that really didn't mind as long as Haerin would find a way to see her again. She wanted to see the girl and talk to her again. Haerin didn't know how to describe it in words, but there was a feeling there that stirred up inside her. Sadly the girl had student council matters tomorrow which meant she couldn't come to their basketball practice and this might be the last time Haerin was going to see her. Mulling it over her mind Haerin had to quickly think of some way to interact with Y/n again. But before she could utter a word, the girl left the gym along with her other Aussie friend Pham Hanni.
2 hours. The basketball player who just finished practice, who was tired as hell debated on whether she should wait for 2 whole hours, and the answer was yes. Did she even have to think about it? Haerin didn't know how she could wait for someone after a whole tiring day but if she did know one thing, she could never wait for tomorrow to give the green crocheted frog she had a pair of to Y/n. Why she wanted to give it to her? Simple. So they could be friends. Haerin pondered on her thoughts the whole night. How do you actually make a friend? Heck, it's been years since she tried to make movements and she wasn't going to just casually go to Y/n and ask her "Will you be my friend?" like the 7-year-old Kang Haerin used to say with a cheeky smile on her face on a random kid at a park years ago. But she also couldn't ask anyone, even Danielle because the girl was busy with her cheer practice for their upcoming game, and even if Dani did make time for her, Haerin was too embarrassed to ask someone on "How to make friends" at the age of 17.
So the last thing that came to mind was the key holder they talked about hours ago. She had two so it totally wasn't a bother to give one to Y/n. And they'd match meaning that they're close, or going to be close... right? Haerin did not know a single bit about how this system works and it started to worry her, even frustrating her. She just wants to become close with Y/n, knowing her better and giving a crocheted frog didn't seem to be a perfect answer but at least it's something more than nothing... right?
Yes, it was definitely right.
Haerin had thought so, seeing the girl's big bright smile towards her as she thanked her for the frog. Wouldn't you call it a total win when you also get her number and get to walk with her home, yapping about the things you loved? For Haerin, it was like winning the lottery, and an hour of hard-core club practice plus 2 whole hours of waiting while daydreaming was totally worth it.
"Sweetest soul on earth" is more like the sweetest in the whole galaxy. Looking at the small brown not so bad crocheted frog key holder Y/n just gave Haerin earlier, the girl couldn't help but smile again for the millionth time. She took the time and did something she had never done before just because Y/n knew how the girl loved frogs and how Haerin had messed up the color of yarn she used for her two-pair crocheted frog. What's happening? Haerin satisfiedly huffed and returned to her practice, with a smile on her face which the other members couldn't help but gawk or smirk at. "She's such a simp" The captain of the women's basketball team Shin Ryujin mumbled while shaking her head slightly with a chuckle, and beside her was The captain of Cheerleading Jang Wonyoung who had seen the whole interaction, smiling as she cooed "Awwh" watching the scenery happen in front of her like a rom-com.
Months had passed since the interaction at the gym and all Haerin could think about was Y/n. It's not like she didn't constantly think about her before, she did, it's just that thinking about her became a habit now. Looking at a pretty flower, she'd think about Y/n, the moon glowing beautifully at night would make her want to snap a pic and send it to Y/n telling her "It reminded me of you" Suddenly every song she listened to, Y/n would casually linger on her mind like she was finding her in every lyric she heard. All those romance movies Haerin binge-watched with Danielle had become her favorite when she used to think of them as tacky, never expecting to grow fond of them after some time. Almost everything Haerin did, somehow Y/n's curved lips and slightly squinted eyes making that warm smile that Haerin adored the most would just come to the girl's mind before she could even notice.
"You're in love with her Haerin-ah" Danielle stated with a tone like it was the most obvious thing ever alongside a childish giggle, looking at the girl in front of her confused to hell about what she was talking about. "In love...? You mean like those movies we watched where the two will―" "Kiss? Yes, Haerin-ah that's what I'm talking about" Suddenly it felt like Haerin's mind stopped working for a flashing second causing the girl to freeze at the spot which made Danielle giggle more. "But I never thought of kissing Y/n" Not until now. Feeling her cheeks become warm, a fading shade of crimson red had tinted its way. But how could Haerin know that? Her mind was occupied. "Well, love comes in different types so it's not like everything is about those movies" Haerin snapped off from whatever she was thinking and shifted her gaze back at Danielle who was eating her carrots as they spoke. "From hearing what you've described Y/n right now―" Danielle ponders a bit while munching her veggie sticks. "Even if it wasn't like those we watched, one thing for sure is you have feelings for her" What the Aussie girl had just said made Haerin think. "How can you tell that? What if it was actually platonic?" "You seriously did not just say that when you blushed when I mentioned the kiss, Kang Haerin" Danielle chuckled, looking at the once again red-faced girl in front of her with a 'That's what I thought' look as she continued to munch her veggie sticks.
Being straightforward with things was something Haerin was good at. Danielle had even pointed out that it was her talent, with her piercing gaze, monotone voice, and blank expression blurting things out. But today, or at least for now, Haerin had wondered where her so-called "talent" went when she needed it, mostly to cover up how she was lowkey panicking inside with her heart in a beating mess. Yesterday after talking with Danielle, the girl had made a plan. A simple plan which is asking Y/n how she feels about Haerin. If it's close to what Haerin was feeling, then "100% sure she likes you back" Danielle's voice rang through her mind as she took a glimpse of Y/n who was walking by her side, talking about something Haerin couldn't take a grasp of because her mind was full of how to bring up the conversation she had been thinking since last night.
"You seem lost in your thoughts" Y/n broke out a soft chuckle seeing Haerin startle a bit on her suddenly peeking at the girl's face. "Sorry, I was dazing off..." Humming a response Y/n faced front again as they continued to walk. "Wanna share it with the rest of the class?" "Stop, you sounded like Mrs. Choi right now" After sharing some moments of laughter, a comfortable silence flowed between them with both girls lingering their gazes on each other. "... I have something to ask..." Fidgeting her fingers a bit, Haerin nervously faced Y/n. Sure the girl might be a bit dense here and there but Y/n wasn't that dense to not pick up the tension that flowed between them. "Yeah?" Stopping her tracks, Y/n responded lightheartedly maybe trying to ease the tension, or maybe trying to ease her heart which was a beating mess as well. "Well, I wanted to know—" Haerin silently cursed herself for hearing her voice crack up a bit. She didn't like any of this. Feeling like her heart would bust out of her chest any moment, her palms feeling sweaty because of the nerves perking up, her mind spinning millions of questions of doubt, and her voice felt like it was stuck in her throat, not being her usual self but still wanting an answer as if it depended on her life or something. This was the moment and there was no way of going back. So suck it up and just ask her was the last thing the girl had thought in mind before finally making up her mind as she groaned, repeating her words, this time with a more firm and clear tone. "I wanted to know how you feel about me"
"How I... feel about you?" "Yeah—" Haerin fidgeted with her hands for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "It's just... I don't know. I guess I've just been thinking about how I... feel about you" Haerin muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I like being with you, Y/n. Time really flies when I spend time with you and, when I'm not with you all I think about is you and- I... I kind of miss you a lot at those times..." Speaking bit by bit, her voice quivered slightly as words came out, each reflecting the emotions she had been keeping all this time. Then she remembered the first conversation you both made on that day at the gym and couldn't help but tug a small smile on her lips. "You taught me how to open up again when I thought I couldn't" Haerin then focused her gaze at Y/n, without it wavering a single bit. "I like it when I'm around you and I never want that to change. I care about you. More than I want to admit." Haerin still couldn't believe she was actually admitting her feelings out loud, but the words had already spilled before she could stop herself. "What I'm trying to say is— I have feelings for you Y/n. And I was wondering if you felt the same..." Haerin awkwardly chuckles, avoiding your gaze as she looks down fidgeting her hands once again before she mutters softly. "I want you to feel the same..."
No one's ever totally confident about confessing and Haerin wasn't an exception. What if she blurted out the wrong thing and messed things up? What if it was all just Haerin feeling this way and it's actually platonic for her? Endless fears, worries, and questions swirling through Haerin's mind. But that all wiped off when she felt Y/n holding her hand and gently squeezing it which made Haerin fix her gaze back at the girl to see her eyes softly droop in adoration. "Is it a good timing to say that I also feel the same about you?" The relief Haerin had felt from that one sentence was incomparable to any other. Everything was going on so well it was almost scary like this could be some dream she was dreaming and the fear of waking up to a lonely reality was crepting up. But this was all real and Haerin knew that well when she felt the warmness and the floral-fruity scent of Y/n as she embraced her, tightening her grip on the girl's waist as they lingered on the wholehearted moment, both wanting nothing more than just to stay like this forever. Pulling out from the hug along with some soft giggles and laughs, Haerin fixed her gaze on the girl and they met once again. The distance between them was closing without even realizing it, the sudden urge to just lean in and—
Huh? The nose??
Why did I kiss her there??
Meeting each other's eyes again with both confused and surprised expressions, Y/n burst out laughing while Haerin looked down with the heat rising to her face, flushing in a shade of red as she groaned in embarrassment.
"Sorry, I don't know what I was doing- I just- ugh" Stammering with her words, Haerin let out a sigh while Y/n giggled softly, holding her hand and squeezing it tightly one last time before looking at her with the same gaze full of adoration. "It's okay... let's take things on our own pace, hm?" Walking side by side with hands intertwined, the couple chattered lively on their way home.
Haerin wasn't much of a social type. Not until she found the one she wanted to share her smiles and laughter along with her favorite frog trivia.

Maybe We Were a Bit Too Loud.. (Jude Bellingham) *Smut*
A/N: been a bit too many Jude stories. if yall have any trent requests pls send
Y/N's POV:
Jude and I have both been so occupied in our work, we have barely got any time to spend with our daughter, let alone ourselves. Kiera had a play at school, so I got off work early. Unfortunately, Jude couldn't make it. She was quite upset about it, but I made sure to make it up to her. We had a girls day. We went to the Salon and got our nails done. I needed a refill on my nails and she wanted to get some color for her birthday party in a few days. I also got her some ice cream and had a shopping spree.
"Mama! Mama! Mama!" Kiera yells. She really doesn't have to be so loud. I'm right next to her. It has been a long day. As fun as it was, it was fucking exhausting. I look at her and she shows me some toy that she has, explaining it as if I didn't buy it for her. "Honey, that's amazing." I play into her excitement. "Mum, I'm hungry." She tells me, abruptly dropping her toy. "Let's get you some food, my little hungry bunny." I say, scooping her up and kissing her tummy. She starts wriggling in a fit of ticklish laughter.
I finish making spaghetti Bolognese as per my hungry bunny's request. She's just like her father. I take out her Minnie Mouse plate from the kitchen cabinet and give her some pasta. I also pair it with some leftover mashed potato and some freshly steamed broccoli and carrots. "Mama! I don't like carrots!" Kiera yells, very politely. "I know, sweetheart, but if you don't want to end up with glasses like mama, you have to have them." I tell her. She's not a picky eater, unlike me, but carrots are her weakness. It's not fun waking up to see a blurry husband, and if she wants to escape my genetic curse of poor eyesight, she has to eat her carrot. "Hmph. Fine." She says, crossing her arms but still listening to me. She's such a blessing.
As I'm serving myself the spaghetti and the vegetables (purely to be a good roll model to my daughter) for myself, I hear the door lock rattling. I look up to see my husband walk through the door. "Daddy!!" Kiera yells, attempting to get off of our high counter chairs. Jude quickly walks to his carbon copy and picks her up. "Hello, my love." He says, littering her face with kisses and placing her back on her chair. She continues munching away at her veggies. "Mhh...Whatever you made smells amazing." He says, walking to the back of the counter, where I place my plate onto the table and get out his plate. "Spaghetti Bolognese." I tell him. He grabs me by the waist and places a kiss on my head. "Missed ya." He says, then placing a kiss on my lips. "Missed you too." I reply. "Ewwww." We hear a little voice say. Our little love session is interrupted by Kiera fake gagging. She learns too much from Jobe. "Alright, alright. Go sit down, love." I tell Jude. He sits down and I place his food in front of him. He quickly gobbles it up.
"Mama, can we watch bluey?" Kiera asks. "No, honey. It's mama's turn to choose." Jude says. Kiera is sat on her little pink blanket at the left in of our very large L-shaped white couch. Jude and I are sitting on the right side. "But, daddy-" She argues back. "No 'but's." Jude says sternly. "You got your turn yesterday, and I was before you. Mama's last few turns were taken by us, too. It's time we let her choose." He explains to our daughter. She lets out a huff and puff. "Jude, it's not that serious. Let her watch. I'm pretty tired anyways." I whisper to Jude a bit too loud. "Yay! Thank you, mama!" She says, taking the remote from Jude and playing her show. "Baby, you can't give in." Jude begins a lecture. "Hey, don't tell me. You're the one who spoils her." I tell him. I'm supposed to be the strict parent, not him.
Jude put's his arm over my shoulders after the 76th episode of these stupid Australian dogs. I would go to bed, but this is the only family time we've had in weeks. I reach for my phone to check when bedtime will roll around. I let out a sigh as I realize tomorrow is a weekend, therefor she can sleep in. Jude senses my frustration and pulls me in deeper. Kiera's trance is broken when she looks over to see her parents at peace. She immediately stands up on the couch makes the strut towards us. She decides to sit right in between Jude and I, of course cuddling him and giving me her back. Jude and I's cuddle session was cut way too short.
My head moves from it’s comfortable position on the back of the couch to look at where the little snores are coming from. I see our little monkey finally asleep after 3 long hours of Australian dogs. I pat Jude's arm and he, in response, picks her up and starts walking towards the stairs. I clean up some of the cups, snacks, and toys left on the coffee table and quickly follow Jude's path. I close the baby gate at the top of the stairs Jude installed when Kiera starting crawling and head towards Keira's bedroom. I creak the door open to see Jude putting her into bed. He firmly tucks her into bed and places her pink bunny next to her. On his way out, he turns on her moon-shaped nightlight, as she's afraid of the dark, and shuts the door behind him.
Jude backs out of the room, still facing his daughter. He turns around and gets slightly startled by me standing directly behind him. "Fuck, baby. You scared me. I didn't know you were there." He says putting his hand on his own chest. "I'm sorry." I tell him, nuzzling myself into his chest. I haven't been able to feel Jude without another little lady jumping on him. Jude places his hand on the back of my head and pushes me further into him. "Let's get you to bed, pretty lady." He grabs my hand and leads me to our shared bedroom.
"Where are you going? You've already done all your bathroom shit." He tells me as I throw the blanket off myself. "Mama's going to go change into some PJs. She doesn't feel like being caught in a bra and panties when Keira decides to love bomb you tomorrow morning." Did I just say that? "Mama's gonna do what?" Jude makes fun of my use of 'mom language'. "See what this damn kid is doing to me?" I tell him, walking into our walk-in closet. I walk into my side of our closet. I open the drawer of 'sexy' underwear I have. it's basically has cobwebs on it. I pick out Jude's formerly favorite white set. I look at myself in the mirror, feeling better about myself than the last time I put it on.
Jude took me to a fancy hotel a few weeks after Keira was born to give me a break. I decided to bring along this set to 'impress' him. I was freshly postpartum, and I felt very insecure. I haven't put it on since then, but I've been working hard to get my prepartum body back. Obviously, I don't look the same as young, active, 20-year-old Y/N Jude met, but I would say I look pretty darn okay. I quickly slip on a silky robe, coming right under my arse. I tie it in a way where it cinches my waist and leaving the front open enough to give Jude a peak of his former bestie.
Jude is sat up on his side of the bed, book in hand. (Jude 110% does not read before but, but dad!jude does) I walk over to my side of the bed, taking an excessive amount of time in hopes that Jude will notice me. "Hey, baby? I was wondering if- Whoa." He says, taking his eyes away from his book. "Whoa?" I say, pretending to be clueless. Jude quickly puts his book on the side table and pushes the blanket off of his lap. He gets up and walks towards me. I open my arms for him to come into. He grabs my waist and I wrap my arms around his neck. "You look amazing, love." He tells me, leaning in to kiss my neck. He starts licking and sucking on the sensitive spot behind my ear. "Jude..." I moan, throwing my head back. Jude leaves my neck and puts his hands right where my robe ends. He effortlessly lifts me up.
He goes back to kissing me as he walks us over to the bed. He places me in the middle of it. He undoes my robe and kisses me from my neck down to my stomach. He leaves a few bites and marks on my stomach. He works his way down to my panties and slowly takes them off. He starts to lick and suck on my clit. He slowly works his way up to using 3 fingers inside me. I'm moaning and whining with my hands in his hair. "Fuck, Jude. That feels so good!" I moan out, grabbing his hair even tighter. Normally, he would talk a lot during sex, but he's so focus on me and making me feel good that he can't be bothered to dirty talk.
"Fuck, baby. Just like that. Ride me like that. Taking me so well." He says, pushing my hips back and forth. He has my robe open up top, but tied up. I ended up getting too cold, but we were too eager to stop to change the temperature, so I put on the robe again. I have my hands on his chest, using him as leverage to keep me moving. I feel my legs give out, and Jude senses it. He grabs me and flips me onto the bed. He quickly gives me a passionate kiss and pulls out of me. "Turn over, baby. On your belly." He tells me. I quickly obey, too horny to resist. I get on my hands and knees. Jude pushes his dick back in and thrusts into me at an ungodly pace. The headboard is slamming against our wall, and I'm making some very loud and lewd noises. Jude reaches up to my head and grabs a handful of my long hair. He wraps it around his hand and uses it to pull my head back. He uses this to kiss my neck, leaving even more marks than before. He pulls me off my hands and makes me grab the headboard. He wraps his unused hand around my throat and squeezes lightly. "You like that, baby? Like the way I'm fucking you?" Jude grunts into my ear. "Yes, baby. Fuck, you fuck me so good!" I moan out. I can feel a knot start to go undone in my stomach. "Baby, I'm gonna-" I tell him, reaching back to put my hands in his hair. "I know, sweetie. Cum for me. Cum around me, my love." As I hear that, I quickly let my orgasm wash over me, Jude following close behind me, filling me up with his warm cum.
"That was amazing." He tells me, kissing my sweaty forehead. Jude had cleaned me and himself up and gotten us some very fancy champagne from our wine cellar. "I know. I'm glad we got some time alone, finally." I tell him, looking up to kiss his lips. It's been way too long since Jude and I got freaky. It's hard to find the time when you're raising the clingiest child of all time. Jude takes a sip of his sparkly drink and turns on the electronic fireplace. It's mainly ambience, but it's nice to have. He turns off the two nightlights and gets comfy. Him and I drink and talk the night away, until we both cave to our parental positions and fall asleep with a show in the background.
(Time skip)
I open my eyes to see a blurry world. I reach over to the side table where I fumble until I find my glasses. I put them on and turn to face my husband. Somewhere along the night, he turned off the T.V. and tucked us into bed, taking off my glasses and placing them on my side table. On the rare occasion where I get to see him, he looks so beautiful in the mornings. I snuggle into him and kiss his forehead. I nuzzle into him and close my eyes once again, enjoying the quite morning. No rush. No Keira. This is nice. I feel Jude stirring slightly. He knows I'm awake as I have my glasses on. He places a kiss on my lips as I kiss him back. "Good morning." I tell him, giddy as ever. It's like it's our first night together at his mum's place again. "Good morning, love." He says in his raspy morning voice. Him and I chat a little before hearing a door creak open. I look over Jude's shoulder to see Kiera standing there with her bunny in her hands, her hair wild as ever.
"Can I come in?" She asks, rubbing her eyes. I quickly but discreetly slip on my panties that were discarded the night before. "Of course, love." Jude says, opening his arms to his baby girl. He places her in the middle of us, and for once she chooses to cuddle me and not Jude. I accept her cuddles with open arms and pull her in closer. "I like this. It's soft." She tells me, rubbing over my robe. Jude lets out a laugh and kisses the back of her head. He slings his arm over the two of us and pulls us into him.
"Daddy? I have a question." She asks her father who has his head on the pillow and his eyes closed. He lets out a 'hmm?' while keeping his eyes closed. "Are you nice to mama?" Jude and and I are both shocked by the question. "Of course he is, baby. Why are you asking?" I ask her. "I heard some banging on the wall yesterday and you yelling." She tells us, now sitting up. Jude and I both mentally face palm. I look at him, expecting an answer just to see him looking at me the same way. "Sweety, mama and I were just playing. She's fine." Jude explains to her. "But you said that you shouldn't play in a way where people get hurt." She says crossing her arms, visibly upset with her daddy. "Baby, I wasn't hurt." I tell her, rubbing her arm. "Then, why were you yelling?" She asks. "Umm..." I look over to Jude for an answer once again, but he is looking around the room, playing dumb. Amazing. "You know how you start yelling when your daddy tickles you? Like that." I come up with an excuse. "Oh. Daddy tickled you for a long time then." Jude starts snickering and I simply nod. Keira nods, satisfied with the answer. Jude tells her to go use the toilet and brush her teeth. She gets up and marches out of the room.
"So, can I tickle you again?"

A/N: yay first part finally done! It took me a while because I wanna be able to do both Haunting Adeline and SOA justice and take my time with it. I’m gonna try to post as much as possible but again I wanna take my time with it. Love y’all!
TW: +18 only, mention of murder, mentions of fear play, light crude language

Part i
Delanie
My father has been the one for the theatrics for as long as I could remember. My first steps, he cried like a baby. When my first words were 'Daddy', he blubbered like child. My participation trophy in middle school volleyball, he threw a damn party. Now, moving from Salem, Oregon, away from where he was simply just two minutes away, was Charming, California, where I'd now be hours away.
"I still don't think you should be living there, Laney-" He sighed into the phone. I threw my head back quietly into the headrest of the seat of my car, shutting my eyes, not wanting him to get upset for the thousandth time this week alone about the choice of moving here a month ago.
I let out a quiet huff into the speaker as I looked to the ceiling of my car.
A ketchup stain?
"Dad, I've told you a million times," I smiled softly although I knew he couldn't see me, "I only have a year lease, if the book isnt done by then, I'll come back. I just need the quiet of a small town, a change of scenery, you know." his silence over the line was nearly deafening and i could practically see his nod as he let let go of a breath he was holding onto.
"As long as you promise me to-"
"Call as many times as I can, dad." I smiled wider into the receiver before seeing the moving van parking on the road in front of the house, "Moving vans here. I'll call you later. I promise."
"Alright sweetie, I'll let ya go then. I love ya'." he spoke and I nodded.
"I love you too, dad." i repeated back to him before I pulled my flip phone away from my ear, snapping it shut. I slipped the phone into my back pocket as I stepped out of the car.
Charming was the town Lyla had described to me in all of the emails and IM's she had sent me long ago. Vast hills and forests on the outskirts. There wasnt a Starbucks, but I never had it anyways. There were small time mom and pop shop diners, bars, mechanic shops that I had never heard of before. It was almost culture shock from the countless buildings that held a McDonalds, Goodyear Tire Shops, places youd find in any town that was bigger than Charming.
But, the name held up. Although it was a small town, Charming's neighborhoods were beautiful, vastly different from the grunge streets of Salem. It's what youd imagine when thinking of white picket fence life. Charming was what many could call a grandparents town, but the many young, lively people that would walk up and down the streets with their children told you a different story.
The house I signed the lease for was a comfortable, two bedroom, single story house. It wasnt the cheapest I could afford, but it was one I could tolerate living in for only a year as of yesterday. Today was furniture day so I was there to guide the movers where the couch, bed, and tables needed to go.
The I heard it.
The rumble of motorcycle engines in the distance.
Standing outside the pale yellow house, holding onto a box I had kept in my car overnight, I looked down the street.
I wasnt able to see the bikes as they so obviously passed by. But I could hear them, feel the rumbling deep in my chest, setting in fear over who rode those bikes, having the slightest bit of wonder if the ones who rode the bikes did good or bad.
But that was what lit a fire in the pit of my stomach, sending a spark down between my thighs.
Shaking myself from my thoughts was one of the movers, leaning against the doorframe with his forearm holding himself up. His biceps flexed, sweat dripping off his chin and neck from the heat from outside and little AC in the house and onto his now darkened gray shirt. His shirt stuck to his body, showing off how ripped he was. He gave me a small smirk as he held his free hand out, gripping onto a piece of paper.
"In case you need help unpacking." he winked when I moved the box i was holding to one hand, taking the slip of paper and opened it.
'Ben 555-4780'
I gave him a small tight lipped smile. He was attractive enough to give him that much.
"Thanks. I'll take it into consideration." I gave him a single nod before walking past him, setting the box on the counter with a sigh.
I needed a beer and to find my speaker in one of the boxes.

I pulled at my dark colored cardigan, pulling it taut around my body anxiously.
Being a successful writer had its perks, constant flow of money, being able to travel, meeting new people that already loved you.
It never helped the anxiety that comes with book signings however.
I looked to the group of people that stood outside the library, all holding at least one of my books, speaking to each other as they looked excited. I took a deep breath, wanting to rub my face but didn’t want to rub off my makeup I had spent an hour perfecting this morning.
I looked to my agent who was speaking to the older ladies that ran the library in its normal day to day time. You could just tell they were pissed and had angry looks from how busy the normally quiet building was.
As soon as the blonde, Patty, moved her gaze towards me, she smiled at the women to excuse herself and walk in my direction.
I stood up straighter, letting out a breath slowly as she spoke.
“Ready hot shot?” She asked before pushing my curls back, resting her hand on my cheek. She was about twice my age but I had always seen her as a motherly figure, someone who always cared about me, looked after me. She handled the shit that I couldn’t.
“As much as I can be.” I smiled to her as she leaned down, pressing a kiss to my cheek, her hand moving to my shoulder and guiding me to the table that sat in the middle of the room, done up in three different piles showcasing my three books I had put out in the recent years.
I sat at the table with a sigh and leaned back, watching as one of the older ladies from before finally unlock the door, letting in the line of excited women through to make a b-line in front of my table.
I pulled on a smile at the ladies, pulling off the cap of the first marker in front of me, making small talk after small talk with women of slightly different ages, the ones that got what they want moving deeper into the library to chat and eat the cheap snacks the ladies working got from the local store.
It’s been about half an hour and my hand was beginning to cramp. I looked up to Patty, seeing her standing nearby, on her cell. I gave her a slight nod and stood up as she walked towards me, calling out to the rest of the line that I’d be taking a break.
I stretched my hand, sighing as I turned, ready to go grab a glass of fruit punch and pray for it to turn into a beer before looking up, catching glimpse of a man.
I didn’t remember signing a book for him.
With a face like that, I would’ve remembered, wrote books about him, been able to see that face in my dreams.
His head was slightly pointed to the ground, as if he were looking at my shoes. His blonde hair fell from behind his ears, the ends tickling at his shaggy goatee that matched the color of his hair. His eyes, bags hanging low and a light shade of purple, were a piercing ocean blue, cutting straight through my own green eyes.
My breath caught in my throat as his lips quirked into a smirk, instilling fear into my mind and sending a slight shiver down my spine. Then a bigger lady walked past, covering my line of sight for a split second and when she was out of sight, he was gone.
I turned my head, looking for the blonde man. Behind bookshelves and the cliques of women speaking with each other. He was gone.
My ghost was gone.
Jax
The vibration in my hand from my handgun stung my skin. I could still feel the kickback from it in my bones and halfway up my arm. The life in the man’s eyes, gone, while mine stared at him angrily.
I had vowed to him before this moment that he would never touch another innocent child again and yet he doubted me. My only option was to put a bullet between his brows.
I let out a shaky breath I didn’t know I was holding, bringing my arms behind my back to slip my handgun in the waistband of my pants then leaned down, reading the patches off the Mayans kutte to myself before grabbing him by the shirt, dragging him back against the brick wall near an overfilled trash can that I could only describe as smelling like dog shit and rotten food. I held my breath as I sat the dead man up then stood back, sighing as I looked around.
It was still midday but I was still able to make good use of the silencer on my handgun but I still needed to get myself out of the area quickly.
I put up my hood after pulling it out of my kutte and walked away. It might be fucked up after killing a man in cold blood, no matter how much he deserved it, but a greasy burger was calling my name.
Salivating at the thought, I made my way down the street, hands stuffed deep in my jean pockets as I looked around, spotting a long line of women in front of the local library. I hadn’t heard of any event going on there. I furrowed my brows in surprise and got closer, nodding to some of the ladies as I walked myself up to the door, using my height as an advantage to look inside the building. I side stepped through some of the ladies, apologizing and spewing bullshit of “having to return my overdue book” with a smirk.
When I stepped into the library, for the first time in nearly 20 years, all I had expected to find was a group of older women fawning over the author of the books that finally made them feel the spark between their legs again and some middle aged freak with round glasses and kitten heels signing front page after front page of her few books. What I did not intend to see was a woman, had to be around my age, sitting back in the chair in the middle of the table, her fiery red locks halved and pulled up behind her head. Her glasses were round and thin, nowhere near the thick lenses I had imagined before. Her golden brown eyes cat like and sultry held a certain uneasiness from the crowd of middle aged women standing in line, overflowing into the history isle of books.
I had to have her.
I ducked behind a group of women and made my way to the back of the room, finding a spot near the shelves where I had a clear view of her. My eyes bored into the back of her head, sure that she could feel it.
And then she stood. Even from further away I could tell she was at least a head shorter than me even with the curls of her hair that stuck up. I could hear the whispers of the group of women surrounding me, saying her name as though it was a prayer.
I should be the only one saying it like that. I need to be.
My gaze continued on her even as she turned, quickly meeting my eyes. A smirk formed on my lips, my breathing became heavier as she quickly took in my form. Before either of us knew though, a lady walked in between our gazes so I ducked and slipped myself into a dark corner of the room, hugging the wall as I made my way out of the building without anyone taking notice. Every body in there was too focused on one person and one person only.
Delanie.
My Delanie.

When Eren saw Armin again, it wasn’t in Hell. Though, maybe Florida was close enough.
Disney World’s supposed to make you happy, right? Eren couldn’t get the thought out of his head as he pressed his wet back against the shaded brick wall behind him. His parents and younger brother were off in a line for something Eren had no interest in riding—so essentially, they could have been anywhere.
He hadn’t tried to lose them, but he didn’t mind, either. The humidity was driving him mad, minute by minute. He missed the air conditioning back at the house, and more than that, he missed the dry heat in Arizona. Ever since they’d moved, he’d felt like he was always mildly drowning; either on the air, or his own sweat.
“Water?” a kind voice asked.
Eren straightened, his head whipping to find the source. To his left, a familiar head of blonde hair clumped together in small chunks over a glistening forehead. Blue eyes, and a shy smile.
Armin lifted the bottle he offered, but Eren couldn’t move.
“I saw you standing here on my way to get a drink, and you looked like you could use some, so…” Armin explained. His brows crept together when an answer still didn’t come. “Are you okay?”
Eren forced himself to move, stiff like his joints had rusted in the damp heat. He wrapped his fingers around the bottle, and nodded.
“Thank you.”
Armin smiled. “Are you here with anyone?”
“Uh…”
“You can join us!”
Eren wondered if he was hallucinating. Had the sun gotten the best of him?
“Mikasa!”
His heart skipped a beat. No, this wasn’t real. And if it was, he couldn’t handle it. Not now. Maybe not ever.
With Armin’s back turned to him, he slipped around the corner of the building and took off as fast as he could push his shaking legs.
~*~
By the time junior year started, Eren was still thinking about them. Nearly two months had passed, and as many nights were filled with their faces in his dreams.
It was no wonder his peers avoided him in the halls. The purple under his eyes, and his default dead stare were the perfect shield. But, the less people bothered him, the better. He was far too tired to deal with the endless interviews that came with being the new kid.
The peace didn’t last long, though.
Two weeks into the semester, Eren was making his way down the stairs from his last class when he heard that voice again.
“Take whatever you need. I’m happy to do some charity work.”
Eren was certain he was hallucinating now, but he couldn’t help slowing his strides.
“Little fuck—” Thud .
Armin groaned.
Eren’s legs moved faster than his brain, pulling him down the last flight of stairs into the basement. Armin sat in the corner, crumpled up against the wall, with two senior jocks towering over him and a sophomore bitch digging through his backpack.
“Get the fuck away from him,” Eren growled, pulling his bag off of his shoulders. “ Now. ”
Laughter echoed in the small landing, but he wasn’t amused. He swung his bag, heavy with his old, bulky laptop and three cans of Monster Energy. The first guy went down, taken off guard, but the second grabbed the bag and tugged so hard that Eren fell to his knees.
Before he could process the change in perspective, the second guy dropped like a fly, and the sophomore took off up the stairs.
“Armin, are you hurt?”
Eren’s chest tightened, squeezing the breath out of him.
Mikasa .
“I’m fine.”
Eren stared at the floor, listening to the shuffling as they moved. It dawned on him that he was trapped. If not in the stairwell, then in the building. If not today, then for the next two years.
He’d never wanted to be hallucinating so badly in his life. Well, in this one, anyway.
“You’re the new kid,” Mikasa said somewhere behind him.
He nodded, not daring to look at her.
“And the Disney World guy!” Armin exclaimed. “It is a small world after all.”
“Yeah,” Eren agreed quietly.
“Thanks for your help,” Armin said. “We’re going to get ice cream, if you want to come?”
Eren pushed himself up, refusing to show his face. He picked up his backpack, and threw it over his shoulder. Without a word, he hurried up the stairs.
Behind him, Mikasa said, “What a dick.”
Surprisingly, even to himself, Eren huffed a single laugh as he pushed through the exit.
~*~
It started one day in the library, when Eren stayed late after class to avoid going home. One eleven year old brother he could handle, but when said brother’s friends were over? No thank you.
He’d been flipping through a comic book, music playing in his headphones, when he felt eyes on him. Then again the next day on the bus as he stared out the window. And again on Monday in the cafeteria.
He ignored it. At some point, someone had dubbed him freak boy . Now, they were all waiting for him to do something, anything that would make good gossip. Anything that could fuel their flames.
It felt so trivial to Eren.
What’s new?
He felt it wherever we went, so he didn’t think about who else might be watching him in the crowd. Until they changed their strategy.
“We’re going to be friends,” Armin announced as he sat down at the mostly-empty lunch table.
Eren looked up, lips parting with nothing to say.
Mikasa slid in beside Armin, eyes narrowed with skepticism as she observed Eren across the table.
“I’m Armin. This is Mikasa,” Armin said.
“And you’re freak boy ,” Mikasa added.
Eren pressed his lips together and pushed his lunch around the plate in front of him. This was so incredibly cruel. Since the day he first remembered , he’d wondered: why ? Now it seemed the answer was torture.
Selfishly, he wanted his friends back. Unfortunately, he knew he didn’t deserve that. He’d hurt them in ways he couldn’t comprehend in this new life. How unfair it would be to take advantage of their blissful ignorance.
“Yup, that’s me,” Eren agreed. “Big freak. Generally awful human being. And I’m allergic to friendship, so you should go.”
“I hear some allergies go away with exposure therapy,” Armin said with a small smile.
“No, I’m deathly allergic.”
Armin’s lips fell. “W-well, if you change your mind… We’re going to see Colossus on Friday night. I have a third ticket. Very minimal talking.”
Eren kept his eyes on his plate. There was no way he could finish eating now. He wasn’t sure he would be able to keep anything down.
“Let’s go,” Mikasa mumbled..
And they were gone.
~*~
Maybe Eren was a masochist, no matter what life he lived. He could barely reason with himself as to why he was standing outside of the theater downtown. He knew that any time spent in their presence was sure to end painfully. Yet, here he was.
“You came!” Armin cheered as he got out of the passenger seat of the old car Mikasa drove them over in. He hurried across the parking lot to meet Eren by the wall covered in framed posters. Mikasa followed, less eager.
Eren’s eyes scanned over her, latching on to the details: her pigtails, dark lipstick, layers of necklaces, and long flowing skirt. He nearly stopped breathing. It was so different, but… nice.
Her eyes hardened. He averted his gaze.
“Uh, yeah. I love these movies,” Eren said, though he avoided Armin’s face, as well.
“Us, too,” Armin chirped, guiding them into the building.
Loaded with popcorn and drinks, they shuffled into their seats. Eren found himself in the middle, to Mikasa’s distaste. Armin refused to acknowledge it.
As promised, no one spoke as the film rolled on the screen. Armin mindlessly shovelled popcorn into his mouth while Eren and Mikasa sat in mild discomfort beside each other. Eren tried his best to focus on the movie, but he didn’t know what he’d expected to happen. All he could think about was how sweet Mikasa’s perfume smelled, how her eyes sparkled in the dark.
What he’d put her through.
In the end, he left without knowing a single name or plot point.
“That was amazing!” Armin said with a grin. “Oh my god, that plot twist! I’m going straight to the forums when I get home.”
Eren almost smiled. He couldn’t deny it was nice to see him so happy, at peace. Safe.
That is, until he stepped off of the curb without looking. Eren shot forward, yanking him back before the speeding car could get to him. The high beams flashed over their faces as they stumbled onto the grass. Mikasa gasped as she caught up behind them, then pushed Eren aside to make sure her best friend was okay. Once confident, she looked back over her shoulder.
“You saved him.”
“Again,” Armin breathed.
Eren shrugged. The last thing he wanted was for it to be a big deal.
It was.
Armin and Mikasa refused to leave him alone from that evening on.
~*~
It was a summer afternoon, a few weeks before senior year, that Eren noticed something different in the way Mikasa looked at him.
They were lounging in Armin’s basement, each of them doing something different. Armin was reading on the floor, Mikasa had nail polish bottles sprawled across the coffee table, and Eren lounged on the couch with his headphones on as he lost himself in thought. They’d grown comfortable as a trio, naturally, as was their fate, it seemed.
Things weren’t quite the same, Eren found. At a core level, he recognized the people in front of him, but they’d been shaped by a different world. He supposed the same was true of himself. Yet, they still worked together.
He found that it was easier to make them happy than to dwell on lives they were blind to. And if it filled some of the gaping crater in his chest, he didn’t mind.
Armin slid a bookmark into his paperback and pushed himself up to go to the bathroom. The movement caught Eren’s attention, and he turned his head to catch the tail end of his retreat. Mikasa looked up from the table, and they found each other’s eyes. Neither spoke for a moment, Mikasa blowing on her wet nails. Eren slid his headphones down around his neck.
“What are you listening to?” she asked.
“The new HISTORIA album.”
Her brows lifted. “You like HISTORIA?”
“Yeah, they’re a solid band.”
“I loved their last album.”
“Really?”
“Mhm.”
“What about this one?”
“I haven’t heard it yet.”
Eren fiddled with the cord on his headphones. “Well… Listen to it. If you like it, I’ll get us tickets for their show in Orlando.”
“Tickets for who?” Armin asked as he re-entered the room.
“HISTORIA,” Mikasa answered.
Armin’s nose scrunched. “Not my favourite.”
“Just us then,” Eren said with a crooked smile..
Mikasa’s eyes danced with something that made Eren’s chest flutter.
~*~
The concert turned into late night dinner, which bled into a stroll along the beach until the sun came up. Eren couldn’t remember the last time he’d had so much fun. He couldn’t remember if he’d ever seen Mikasa so happy. It suited her, he thought.
Which was how it began. An old story on a new page.
Armin settled into his third-wheel role with zero complaints. And when Eren called him out for listening to HISTORIA on the bus one day, he smiled innocently.
Things were good. So good. Wonderful, even. For the first time in the two thousand years these feelings had existed, Eren was allowed to feel them. Openly, honestly. Deeply. He was allowed to bask in her affection, to melt into her and tell her what she really meant to him. If he shed a tear, he told her the air was dry.
Years passed them by, and Eren almost forgot about their failed first love. He’d nearly tricked himself into writing it all off as silly dreams, again. Maybe he could have deluded himself into believing that for real. Maybe.
Except he should have known better.
One night, just shy of three in the morning, Mikasa shot up in bed, covered in sweat. Eren stirred, squinting into the dark to try and find her silhouette.
“What’s wrong?” he whispered.
She shook, and his heart sank as he laid his hand on her trembling arm. In an instant, he wrapped himself around her from behind, holding her close. She sniffled, but didn’t say anything. With his soft, soothing whispers, she calmed enough to lay down, to fall asleep in his arms again. Eren stared at the ceiling for the rest of the night.
When he brought it up in the morning, she simply said, “I don’t really remember. It was just scary.”
Eren prayed to whatever higher power existed these days. Let her be.
But, the only deity who favoured him was gone.
Mikasa woke up in a panic more often over the months, and Eren cursed the universe for hurting her again. Especially when he was so powerless to fix it, stuck watching her stare off into the distance as whatever visions she saw plagued her in the daytime.
“Is it crazy if I think my dreams might be… real?” she asked one day over dinner, breaking the silence.
Eren paused, then swallowed his half-chewed mouthful of food. “What do you mean?”
“Like…” Her eyes glossed over again. “Nevermind.”
“Tell me. I’m not judging you.”
She took a breath and collected herself. “I keep having these dreams… about this whole other… life. It just feels… too real.”
Eren’s heart pounded in his chest, but he focused on stabbing chicken and lettuce. “Maybe it is? Or maybe this is your call to write a best selling novel.”
Mikasa stared down at her plate. “You’re in them. Armin too.”
“Well, the human brain can’t make new people. So maybe we’re your stand-ins?”
She peeked up at him, and it took all of his willpower to meet her stare. He smiled, and her lips curved weakly.
“Yeah, maybe you’re right.”
He wasn’t, but she would be better not knowing the truth. She deserved peace.
~*~
Months later, Eren woke up alone. When he reached out to Mikasa’s side of the bed, it was cold. She was nowhere in the apartment. No note, no text. Her location sharing had been turned off hours ago. Eren jumped immediately to the worst case scenario.
She didn’t pick up the phone. She didn’t respond to his texts. He had no clue where she’d gone. He could only hope she’d show up for their movie night with Armin that evening.
To his relief, she did. Though it was soon replaced with unease. By the time they settled into their seats—Armin in the middle—she still hadn’t looked at him.
Armin leaned over and whispered, “What did you do?”
Eren shrugged, but his best friend simply wasn’t buying it. Especially not when Mikasa had still barely acknowledged Eren’s presence by the time they were seated in a booth for dinner after the movie.
“C’mon, Mikasa. I know Eren’s a bit of an idiot sometimes, but he loves you,” Armin pleaded.
Eren couldn’t argue.
Mikasa took a sip of her drink.
“Tell me what he did. He makes some bad decisions sometimes, but he usually has a reason.”
It was then that she looked at Eren, directly in the eyes. She didn’t say a word, but he could see it on her face. He knew exactly what she was thinking. His blood turned to ice.
“Something stupid,” he said, catching the twitch of her brows. “I’ll make it up to her.”
Armin nodded. “That’s the spirit.”
Eren kept his eyes on the girl across the table, though she continued avoiding him. To his discomfort, she did so quite successfully, until Armin left for the night, and they stood silently in the parking lot by Eren’s car.
The sun had set not too long ago, but he wasn’t quite ready to go home. Still, he opened the door for her, eyes soft and pleading. She caved far easier than he expected.
When they pulled up to the beach, her brows knit tightly together. She studied the man in the driver’s seat, uncertain. He reached into the back seat to grab her a light sweater, then started out into the sand and towards the water. A few minutes passed before she joined him by the gentle waves crashing on the shore.
“How’s your book coming along?” he asked.
She pulled the sweater tighter around her. “I still haven’t decided on the genre. Not sure about fiction.”
Eren stared into the distance, watching the twinkling lights from boats out on the horizon. She took another step toward the water, breeze blowing her hair behind her, and his eyes flickered to her frame.
“I’m so confused.” she whispered.
Eren’s heart broke for her. He might have been the only one to understand this unique strain of grief, and yet he hadn’t given her a space to process it. He should have known she’d want to face the music.
“I’m sorry.” His voice cracked, and she turned to look at him with wide eyes. His defenses were down, now. The pain, raw and blistering, was hers to know if she wished it.
Her lip trembled. “Is it real?”
He closed his eyes as they prickled with tears, then nodded. He managed a shaky breath, but promptly stopped breathing altogether when trembling fingers grazed his neck.
“Am I going to wake up there again?”
A sob broke in Eren’s throat, his arms winding tight around her like she might disappear any moment, his head shaking. He’d given her ignorance before, and it had only twisted the knife.
“No.”
Her tears flowed, thick and abundant as she pressed her face into his chest. Her hands clawed at his shirt, his skin, his hair. He squeezed her tight, kissing the top of her head. She shook, legs unable to hold her weight any longer. Eren slowly lowered them to their knees and brushed the hair out of her wet face.
“You’re… Oh my god, Eren…” she sobbed.
He smiled, sad and afraid. “Do you hate me?”
She sniffled, choked on a harsh sob, and then pressed herself as close to him as she possibly could, not a care in the world if her boots were filling with sand.
“Never,” she said through her shoulder-shaking tears. “You’re here, Eren. It’s a fresh start, Eren. We have a life together, Eren. You’re twenty-six, Eren.”
A fond laugh almost bubbled to the surface, but he was too busy trying to kiss her senseless, tasting the salt of their tears against their lips.
The world, beautiful and cruel, had brought them together again.
He would let nothing ruin it this time.
Not even fate.

On Writing Every Day
Possibly the most ubiquitous piece of writing advice: write everyday. Write every day or you’re not a writer, your work has no value, you’ll never get good, you’ll never go pro. Maybe I am at a bit of a disadvantage because I’ve never published a book, but I feel like I have some place to question this motion.
Don’t write every day. Write often.
Because I agree; writing is like a muscle; you must train it. You have to exercise your vocabulary, your voice, your prose — all as often as you can. It’s essential. But you can do all of these things without gluing yourself to the chair each and every day. Some of us just can’t do that — some of us have obligations; a job, school, sickness, or emergencies. Things come up. And some of us just don’t want to. And that’s okay, too.
I say write often because it’s a promise you can keep. No matter how pressed for time, you can construct a schedule around often. You can stick to that. Practice becomes joyous instead of overwhelming. You will improve without being weighed down by guilt clouding your judgment, adding on to the already compounding series of worries and doubts you have about your identity as a writer anyway.
Often can look like this: every other day, a few days a week, a few days a month. Often is up to you. It’s a malleable guideline, and that’s why I like it. It’s about constant practice — routinely coming to dance with your writerly spirit without letting it die nor allowing it to overshadow everything else you are. You can be a writer and other things, too. It’s essential you are other things, too, otherwise you pigeonhole yourself and dull any unique perspective you may bring to the vast, ever-broadening literary table. Have something to share with your peers. Something to bestow. Besides, some of us have dreams besides writing we would like to pursue, and we have every right to pursue them.
I think writing (well) is so demanding we sometimes forget writing is an incredibly forgiving art. It doesn’t usually feel like it. Writing is difficult (because it is everything) and mystifying and capricious. It feels like the most unforgiving art (because it is: it can be forgiving and unforgiving all at the same time, because it is everything). The muse coquettishly woos us one day then sets us on fire the next. You can have amazing ideas and, propelled by the whirlwind it conjures in your mind, sit down to write and hate everything you put down. The inner critic can be restricting, mean, impossible to satisfy. Plots can get dizzyingly convoluted and messy (and sometimes they don’t come at all! Yay!), wips take years and decades to perfect. You can spend hours, days, weeks, months, years in confusion as to what the fuck you’re even meant to be doing in order to make your story work. Just thinking about all this makes me tired. Writing can be grueling.
But it is also forgiving.
We can take our time. We can fix our stories again and again and again. We can wait until we're ready for the world to see it.
A contradictory mistress, writing is. The truth is your writing hands will not fall off if you choose to take some time off. You do not really forget to write creatively. Oh, you can get rusty, and it can take some time to get your groove back, but the talent you’ve accumulated (and, perhaps, have been born with) does not evaporate out of thin air just because you step away from your word processor. I, myself, have stepped away from writing for large swaths of time only to return just as strong as I was before. If this is indeed a problem for you, I suggest reading more often — just so you can remain close to writing without actually doing it. You can stay familiar and play with language and characters and plotting without actually doing anything— watch essays on movies and characters. Stay engaged. Don’t feel like your talents will be irrevocably blunted by a break, no matter how long it is.
I often think writers are their own jailers, while other writers you associate with and look up to can function as fellow wardens; what exactly is gonna happen if you don’t write everyday? I’ve come to really detest writing “rules.” There are no rules — they aren’t even rules to be broken. There are guidelines and things that have worked in the past. The trick is to learn what has worked for others, why, and what works for you. Mix and match at your own discretion. The life of a writer is often a solitary, lonesome affair. Not just because you do it yourself, but because you are your own god; a huge part of being a writer is fashioning things for yourself, coming up with your own rules, if you dare to call them as such. You conjure up worlds for your own amusement. So, the way we find ourselves chained to the so-called rules and those who espouse them has become kinda hilarious to me.
Also, go ahead and accept this: a lot of what defines good writing is completely out of your hands. What is popular and lauded as a masterpiece today may be rejected and ignored tomorrow. There are principles to help you bridge the gap of generations — compelling characters, thoughtful plotting, and, oh, idk, basic understanding of storytelling elements etc, but we all will have our own personal talents as writers. Rest assured, you’ll be an acquired taste, so go ahead and study your own talents and strengths as a word person. What are the things you love about writing? What do you like to zero in on? What do you look forward to? Focus on those things, and just try to have a basic grasp of other, essential things.
The point is this: if writing really is that important to you, it will be in your life somehow. You won’t have to make room so much as it will wedge itself into one of the movie theater seats in your mind. Your mind will wander to your wips. You’ll think of your characters at random times. You’ll picture your settings and scenes will just randomly come to you. Don’t worry about it so much! Write often, stay engaged, but if you need a break, take one.

So hello again! I'm trying to be consisted on writting, but soon I'm going back to school, so I won't have as much time as now, so I'll be updating probaby every two weeks instead of every week. I hope that's still fine. And yay, another chapter! Get cozy and enjoy!
ALSO TW: mentions of suicide/suicidal thoughts
PS. Authors music pick "Flawed Mangoes - Killswitch Lullaby"
Chapter V
"Broken bones"
Office job is fine as long as it stays in the office. That’s why working from home sucked. Or at least Alice was sure it sucked, mostly, because despite being at home for the whole day she still hadn't eaten anything, was only dressed up from waist up and for the past hour was an e-mail writing machine. Why do people from higher positions always have so many problems towards the ones on the lower positions? It was starting to look like a damn slavery, do everything for them while they logged off to drink wine on their yacht. Yes, Alice was pissed about this, but unfortunately couldn't do much about it. Mutants still have difficulty when it comes to finding a good job and a workplace that accepts mutations among them. It was even worse when you were a telepath. Everyone was scared of getting their mind read like an open book. Just like she didn’t have anything better to do than that. Sure.
She finally emerged from her room, pulling on some hoodie that she found laying on her bed. Good enough for a food hunt in the kitchen. She wasn’t even hungry anymore, but the headache combined with the voices yelling one over another were really driving her insane and to take any painkillers she needed to eat something first. She didn’t want stomach issues on top of it all. Oh to be in pain every day because your genes decided to pull a move like a virus and mutate. What an unfortunate soul to be. She scrunched her face at those thoughts. She was supposed to outgrow them a long time ago, not let them in anymore for the past few good years. They won’t change anything anyway, so there’s no use to pity herself like that.
She went into the kitchen, watching long, golden rays dance on the floor of the living room, painting images that’ll change in seconds and remain only in her mind. Alice shook her head, trying to keep her mind from distracting itself every few seconds. It wasn’t an easy task, especially after such a challenging day, when she only craved specifically picked stimulants to soothe this poor jelly that ran on electricity. Food first. It’s important and needed. Also water. When was the last time she drank something other than a coffee? She passed by the mirror and stopped for a moment. Unsure..
Unsure if the person looking back at her was actually her. It’s been a few days since she sat down in front of the mirror, but for sure she didn’t look like this. Sure, her hair was perfect, neatly tied back, but she could pull that off even half asleep. Her lips were chapped, dark circles under her eyes and her skin lost that glow that she fought so hard for. She raised her hand, to prove herself it’s the same one in the mirror, that it’s not yet another one of her illusions backfiring at her. The scabbed skin around her fingers. A habit she couldn’t get rid off. Getting rid of stress by inflicting some pain to herself. Just like the pain was meant to help. So many doctors wouldn’t agree with her, and so many doctors would put her on the same medication that made it all worse. Not as bad as now, but certainly worse than she felt back then. She was pulled away from her mind by familiar steps and then a voice. It seemed so distant, like she was in some other dimension, behind a wall, thin wall. Maybe made out of paper?
“You okay there? Oh…” Wade’s smile fell as he stepped closer. “ For sure you’re not.”
He wiped her cheek with his thumbs. Why? Was she crying? She didn’t even feel that. Blinking a few times, only now feeling the familiar sting and warmth of her own tears.
“What happened? Need me to take care of some jerk at work? I can do that for free, but just for you. Well, maybe for your lemon tart, I’d definitely kill for that.”
She smiled, wiping any leftover tears with the sleeves of her hoodie. What happened? She’d love to know on her own.
“No, it’s not work. At least I think it’s not that. I didn’t even realize I’m crying… Sorry for worrying you. “
“Hey, don’t apologize. Your mind getting loud again?”
“Still. It’s been like that for a few days already and it’s only getting worse. Also I’m tired after work, hungry and dehydrated. Maybe I’ll get better after eating.”
She moved away, walking back to the kitchen and opening the fridge. Now, the cold air hit her face and she could actually feel the tear streaks on her face. Unpleasant, definitely. She reached inside the fridge and pulled out a yogurt for herself. Sure, it wasn’t much, but she wasn’t that hungry either. Was she hungry at all? Ugh, everything was so blurry, like she was just beside this reality again. She winced at another sharp strike of pain through her mind, clenching her teeth and putting the slightly cold fingers to her temple. Maybe that’ll help for a moment. Stupid telepathy, horrendous mutation and awful world! She just wanted to scream at everything and everyone around, but remained quiet. Took her yogurt bottle and went to slump down onto the couch. Her mind was elsewhere and she couldn’t catch on to it either. Racing ahead, loud, overwhelming, pulling at her like some vicious beast that was killing for fun. However it was invisible from the outside, on the surface she was just numb, staring at one point with those blank expression in her eyes.
“Doll, meet me on the roof in a while, ‘k?”
It was unusual for Wade to make that proposition. It’s been a good while since they’ve talked about anything deeper than weapons, fights and food for the next day. Only now she realized that she hadn't seen Logan this entire day. They didn’t get in a fight, right? Hopefully not. Not them. Not now and not ever. Not them as well…
Her mind immediately went into the darkest scenario of yet another one of her families falling apart, for her to only watch from the sidelines, unable to fix this. Why was life so complicated? Why was it so hard to make it all work? And why was it so easy to give up sometimes?
She just chugged down the whole bottle, threw the empty one into the trash and took the pill to ease at least the physical pain. Should help in a moment. She looked down at herself. Dirty hoodie, pajama shorts and mismatched socks. She’s definitely not going out like that. Even if it was just to sit on the roof and talk with Wade. Talk with Wade. It sounded almost surreal. He wanted to talk, he initiated a real conversation that probably won’t be shallow anymore. It’ll have a meaning. Something in this whole messed up day will finally have a meaning. Even if she feared what the meaning would be. She went to her room to change into something clean but still comfortable, well aware of the fact that she didn’t need to dress up. She wasn’t at work anymore, no one would bother about her sweatpants and a favorite sweater instead of white button down. Dressed up with sneakers on her feet she still hesitated a moment while her hand touched the door knob. Was it really a good idea? What if it only adds to the mess in her head? That’d be horrifying, but on the other hand, it’s Wade. He is not harmful to those he loves. Loves… Does he love her in any possible way? Alice quickly shook her head, putting it all away and leaving the flat. Running away won’t cause it all to disappear after all.
“ I’m here…” She muttered, stopping a few steps behind him. Soft wind caressed her skin, pushing the hair out of her face, letting sun to rest there with few last rays.
“ Come on, sit down. We’re not in a rush.” He patted the space by his side.
She sat down, silence falling in between of them again. It wasn’t heavy or unpleasant, just, almost tangible. Like it started to be its own being, that sat there with them, enjoying the evening and setting sun.
“ I haven’t seen Logan today, haven’t heard him either… Did you two…?” She decided to start, maybe it’ll go naturally from that.
“ We’re good. Just Laura called in the morning with some issue, so he wanted to help her. Why do you ask? Wanted to talk to him about something?”
Suddenly she was struck by a heavy weight of shame. She always talked with Logan, not sharing much with Wade even when she knew he cared. She started to bite down at the skin on her thumb, overwhelmed a bit by her emotions yet again. All this time, she acted wrong towards him and didn’t even realize. After a few seconds she felt Wade’s hand on her own, pulling it away from her mouth, before she’ll start to bleed again.
“ Relax, I’m not going to bite your head off. Just wanted to talk. I see something is bothering you quite a lot. You’re not you lately. You’re way too quiet and I’m starting to miss the constant yapping about cosmos, stones and all that stuff. Or about bees. You know so much about bees.”
“ I’m sorry… It’s. It’s not that I don’t trust you or anything, it's just that… I don’t know. I just always went to Logan and I guess that after some time he became the option for when I don’t feel good about something. I didn’t mean to skip you or anything. I-I’m really glad to have you too in my life, and I know you care, I care as well, just don’t know how to show it… I-I’m sorry for being so horrible..” Her voice just cut off, getting stuck in her throat.
She took a deep, shaky breath, feeling the tears well up again in her eyes. She hated to cry in front of someone, anyone. It just felt wrong each and every time, to be vulnerable. To be human. Mutants were heartless monsters after all, or at least that’s what many people thought about them, about her , but she was just a person as well. Hurting, living, breathing, feeling, existing just like each and everyone of them, and that wasn;t easy. To keep up a facade of a poker face. Of a monster that is unable to feel.
“ Hey, doll. Calm down. I’m not mad, never was, and you’re not horrible. You’re hurting.” He slowly moved his arm to pull her closer, keeping his arm around her shoulders. “ Don’t get mad at me, but you’re like a dog. Loyal, forgiving, soft and just like a dog, you bare your teeth only when the pain gets too much.”
She just leaned on him, letting the tears fall. Why oh why was he comforting her? Why was he showing pity for her case?! WHY!? She took another deep breath, trying to get it inside her head, that he wasn’t mad, that he was fine with her words and behaviors. With everything that made her, her.
“ So, speak up. I can listen as well. What is bothering you so much? The voices?”
“ Mhm. They don’t shut up at all. And I’m having weird dreams on top of that. I feel like I’m going insane. It’s worse than ever. And when Logan wasn’t there I was scared you two were fighting again, this time for real, something happened, that I’ll lose my family again. That I’ll lose everything I care for once more. And I doubt I’d ever be able to take that, let alone now. And everything in my mind is so loud, voices screaming one over another, I can’t catch anything, I feel detached from reality and don’t know what to do anymore..”
“ We’re fine with Logan. Don’t worry. That old man can sometimes get on my nerves but we have our own ways of settling things like that between us, y’know? It works magic, everytime.”
“ Wade…”
“ What?”
“ I really don’t need to know some things. But I’m glad everything is okay between you two. And… I’m glad you two found each other.” She looked away at the orange sun, it was still slightly painful for her eyes, but it was so pretty that not looking at it would be a sin.
“ You have us both as well y’know? I’m glad that we found you, I bet Logan as well. Well, technically, you found us. With that mind trick of yours. I was pretty sure I’m tripping when I heard that ‘Hi’ in my head.” They both chuckled at that fond memory.
“ Yeah… But it’s not the same. I know I have you. I know I have Logan. Laura, Althea and Yukio, and Ellie… I know. But it’s not the same. Each one of you has their own person, and I’m just here. Without the person. The one meant for me. The one I am meant for as well. Soulmate as one would call them. I know they’re somewhere out there, but I don’t know where.” There was a soft pause between her words. “ And I don’t know for how long I'll have the strength to look for them. I’m tired Wade… So tired.”
Silence fell between them again. He understood. He really did, but he didn’t know how to react to that. What to say, to take some of the weight off of her shoulders. Sometimes, even he felt like she was carrying the whole world out there, without a single complaint, always smiling and bringing hope to others, but who’ll bring comfort to her?
“ I hate being a telepath…”
“ Why?” Simple question, that seemed almost stupid. Why, why, because it’s horrible, that’s why.
“ People think it’s so fun to be one. You can read any mind you want anytime you want, control people, become whatever you want, just use your power, they say. But they don’t understand that it comes with a cost. Once you connect to someone, it stays in your mind forever. It’s loud all the time, only getting louder and louder, and when you complain they put you on some psych meds that only make it worse. Make you a monster, and you believe them. You’re scared of your own mind. Why wouldn’t they be, right? I was never a monster… I was a kid. A child. I still am to some extent. Am I not? But I have to grow up and live when all I want is to be at peace.”
He was surprised by her speech, he looked slightly to the side. Again, those empty eyes, she wasn’t fully there. She was somewhere far away with her mind, probably reliving some of her memories. Wade knew as much as she was willing to share, which wasn’t that much. He knew only that she was abandoned by her family, suddenly, when all the medication for probably every possible mental issue, failed.
“ You wanted to end it… When they’ve left you.”
Those words fell from his lips faster than he could catch them, stopping them from spilling around and staining this evening with the deep dark grief and sadness. She only smiled a bit, still looking somewhere distant, a moment passing, before she got up and walked over to the roofs edge, watching over the city below their feet.
“ Sure did. Seemed like a nice escape from being lost and alone. Then I saw you two. Honestly, I was terrified, but both options were good. You’d either kill me or help me. At that moment I was ready for anything, so I risked it all, by letting you know about my presence.”
She stood there, sun barely reaching her anymore and the wind playing with her messy, red hair. Wade slowly got up. Just in case he’ll have to react quickly.
“ I was always jealous about your healing factor. You get to live for no one knows how long. You’ve found Logan who can do the same. Even if you fail you have unlimited time to fix that, to fix your mistakes and try again. I got only one life that I already mostly wasted on trying to be normal when I’m cursed with this so-called gift.” He could tell that she was really speaking from her heart yet again. “ I’m jealous of your ability to heal yourself. It gives you so many options. Just imagine the mental pain being too much, to just jump down the building, free fall like that, hit the ground and let the physical pain eat up the mental one when you heal all those broken bones, get up and just leave, lighter by some of the pain. To die without consequences of death, and yet I was stripped of even that, while that’s all I need to manage this mess in my mind.”
She took a deep breath, looking down before stepping back from the edge, turning to face him and forcing another smile on her face.
“ But I guess I was meant to accept it. To sink into it like a castaway giving up in the ocean. Sinking in and watching the spectacle of light from beneath the water surface.”
He pulled her in immediately, feeling how her body first shivered and then started shaking with choked sobs. Oh how badly the world hurts some of the people. And how badly he wanted to find a way to fix this for her. To fix her mind. But that’s not possible. You can be a hero and save the world, but that doesn’t guarantee saving your closest ones.

The One That Got Away - Part 3
A.N. - Part 3 is finally here! I apologize for the delayed upload but unfortunately work and life got in the way of things but I'm hoping to create a consistent posting schedule soon!
Pairing: Single Dad Harry Styles
Summary: Alena finallys gets a night out on the town with her friends, but will it go as planned or will surprises and feelings arise?
Word Count: 3.1K

Alena
-
“Fine, I’ll come.” my phone has been buzzing non stop.
This weekend's one of the first weekends that I am going out in a long time. I typically use my weekends to catch up on chores or run errands since Harry typically has Aria for the weekends, but this weekend my friend’s convinced me to come out with them and have a girls weekend. We’ve all been preoccupied with life and what better way they thought to come together and go out and have some fun.
I’m not much of a partier if I do say so myself, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t indulge in it ever - back when I was younger, the weekend parties were something I looked forward to - the drinking, the music, the friends, the games, the angst - EVERYTHING. However, that was short lived because by the time I was just at that age to drink and do things legally, I was blessed with my baby girl and responsibilities and motherhood took precedence over the weekend parties.
“Yay! Alena’s hitting the town.” My friend Molly was on the other end of the Facetime call laying on her bed with a face mask on.
“Ugh, I don’t even know what to wear though - I’m sure anything I have probably doesn’t fit anyways.” I was rummaging through my closet which is 90% of lounge wear, 10% of business casual clothes in which I recycle once a week to wear to work. “I don’t even own half of my wardrobe before Aria, Mol.” my voice probably sounded defeated but I am trying to stay hopeful for my friend because I know she’s looking forward to this outing of ours.
“Lena, come on! You have to have something hot and flirty in that closet of yours - I know you do!” Molly’s a long-time friend of mine - she’s been around through the thick & thin of mine, however, our lives are the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Where I am on mommy duty 90% of the time, she is out free and living her life. She is a radiologist at our local hospital and due to her schedule, she has just enough time and energy to have a great balance of work and play. I truly believe that she is the one that keeps me young.
“Do you think leggings and a baggy sweat-shirt are acceptable for dinner and bar and club hopping?” I flashy a cheek smile across my Facetime screen and Molly gives me the biggest eye-roll. “Lena, if you’re not at least wearing something that’s tight tonight, I am going to beat your ass sensely.” Molly makes her way to her bathroom and takes her phone with her. “Lena, stop acting like a mom for once and be free - shake your ass and show your tits off! Maybe even make-out with a guy - honestly when was even the last time you got fucked?” Molly places her phone down just in time for me to flash her my middle finger.
“ Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t know getting fucked was supposed to be on the agenda while also picking my daughter up from school, providing for her and basically making sure she doesn’t die.” I shut my closet door and make my way to my kitchen because I’m starting to get a little hungry and a snack doesn’t sound too bad right now.
“Lena, I love you but step out of the mom role, even for one night - you are still allowed to have your own personality and be your own person, I promise you, you going out for one night will not make Aria love you any less. Plus, who doesn’t love a sexy milf.” Molly has a way with words, that’s for sure.
“Plus, word around town is that your baby daddy has been seeing someone. Don’t you think it’s time for maybe you to get out there a little bit and meet a few people that could even be remotely interested in you?” Molly’s words sting a little, but I’m not sure if it's because she brings up Harry seeing some or if it’s because it's the “word around town” and I feel somewhat protective of his privacy and his business because he’s the father of my child.
“Yeah, I already knew that.” I take a bite of my toast. “He asked me the other day if it’s okay to introduce Aria to her - from the sounds of it they seem to be getting serious. I’ve been talking to Anne a little bit and she tells me that he seems to be happy and gets this - he hasn’t been seeing anyone else.”
“I’m sorry - you’re telling me that he asked for your permission to introduce Aria to his girlfriend and you agreed?” Molly seems to be severely taken back, her face expression if not her tone says it all.
“Yeahhh… why wouldn’t I be? He is Aria’s father and I am trusting his judgment, so if he thinks it was the right call - then it was the right call - point, blank, period.”
Truth is, it did and still does bother me that he wants to introduce Aria to someone he is seeing. What if she likes her better than me? What if she grows attached to her? What if she starts calling her mom down the line? The thought of Aria calling someone else mom makes my stomach queasy, however, I can’t worry about the “what ifs” and just hope and pray that she isn’t mean to my baby girl.
Harry’s and I’s relationship is complex, on the one hand I want him to be happy and find someone but on the other hand I want someone to hurt him the way he hurt me so he can truly understand what it feels like to put your absolute all into someone, just for them to take - stomp on it and give it back to you in bits and pieces and I truly believe if it weren’t for Aria, I would have stopped all communication with Harry Styles years ago.
-
The rest of my day consisted of cleaning up my house, working on organizing and cleaning out my fridge and finally deciding on outfit for later on tonight. I even had some time to get a home-work out in. I guess just subconsciously knowing that I am going to be wearing something tight tonight makes me feel as though an hour work-out is going to give me my pre-baby body back but I know it's just a ploy to make myself feel better.
While rummaging through my closet I was able to find a tight body-con midi dress that I wore once and apparently still fits - however, when I say this dress is tight - it is tight. The last time I had worn this dress was right when I was just about 3 months pregnant with Aria and I had more than enough room in this dress to hide my little bump, but now, I am fuller in places I wasn’t before. For starters, my breast feel as though they are up to my chin at the moment and my ass has probably doubled in size since I last wore this dress, but this dress seems to be the best and if not only option I have that can be worn tonight because Molly made it very clear that I was not to dress for comfort tonight.
-
“Alena, holy fuck you look hot.” I have just arrived at Molly’s apartment where our other two friends are as well. Molly is dressed in a cute spaghetti strap mini dress and has paired it with sparkly pumps, my feet just hurt looking at the height of them.
“You don’t have to exaggerate Mol, I’m still coming out with you.” a chuckle escapes my lips as I make my way into Molly's apartment. I know her reaction was genuine but I also am not privy to the fact that she’s trying to boost my confidence a bit as well.
“Oh I know you’re still coming out - I would actually drag you out of your house if you tried pulling a fast one on me!” Mol’s slightly intoxicated but her genuine personality and sassy attitude is still peaking through which I absolutely adore her.
My other two friends Vanessa and Maria are just right around the corner making some cocktails as I make my way further through Molly’s apartment. It’s a beautiful apartment, two beds, two baths with a spacious open floor plan and a beautiful view of the city skyline. Her apartment is decorated mostly with whites and grays with a hint of pink throughout used as her accent color which matches with her personality graciously, she's one of the girliest of girls there is.
-
The four of us mingle for about another hour as we get a few cocktails in and catch up on life before the actual night begins. Throughout the last hour, the biggest thing I have realized is that all of our lives are so different but the biggest difference between my friends is that I am a parent and they are not. Where they worry about whether or not they will be able to get up in the morning because they stayed out all night and drank - I have to worry about whether or not my daughter has everything prepared for school the next day on top of getting myself ready for work. By no means is this a complaint, but it does make me wonder what my life would be like if I was just out on my own? What if I too didn’t have another human to be responsible for?
-
The night was definitely still young - but the night life was out. We’ve been waiting in life to get into the first club and we’re just now getting close to the front. The night was warm but definitely had a beautiful breeze which made the wait outside to get in not so bad. My three friends and I are slightly tipsy from the few shots that we had back at Molly’s place and right as we got dropped off by the Uber we shared a blunt - you could say I was high on life right now and just riding the wave.
My phone buzzed in my pocket and it was a text from Harry. He sent me a snapshot of Aria sleeping in her bed at his house in Anne’s arms. I replied back with a little red heart and slipped my phone back in my purse. I promised myself that tonight I was not worrying about anyone else but myself - it’s time for me to be a bit selfish for once.
“ Hey there pretty lady, can I see your ID please?”
I pull my I.D. to show to the bouncer and he gives me a quick nod informing me that I was able to go in. He was a tall man with a broad build and dark features, he was pretty sexy if I do say so myself. He was filled with tattoos from the neck down it seems like which is such a turn on. I hope I get to see him later on tonight.
“ Okay ladies, let the night begin!” We interlock hands and make our way into the nightlife - I feel like a teenager all over again, just me and my girls and no worries in the world, no responsibilities, no care!
The night club is gorgeous, it definitely one of the more popular clubs in our area, and what is even better is that all the people here seem to be around our age or even slightly a bit older, many eligible bachelors seem to be out on the town as well.
“Let’s grab drinks!” I yell out at my friends as the music is beyond loud and has the club thumping.
We make our way over to the bar and we spot an opening close toward the end of the bar, where it seems to be empty. We make our way over there and take a seat, waving over to the bartender signaling that we would like to order.
She’s a petite girl, with gorgeous blue eyes and short blonde hair that hits just at her shoulders.
“What can I get you to drink, babes?”
“Can my friends and I get a round of tequila shots please?” she flashes me a quick smile and a nod, a minute or two later she brings the shots over to us but mentions that they were paid for. Before I can even ask who, I spot the bouncer from the door staring in my direction.
“Ouu, looks like someone is interested in you, Lena.”
“He probably does that to a lot of girls, I’ll thank him later.” I wanted to play it cool but the simple gesture has me melting inside a bit.
-
The night was absolute perfection, the music was perfect and our bodies were moving - I truly haven’t had this much fun in such a long time. My feet were starting to hurt but I was not stopping anytime soon - my friends and I were truly enjoying ourselves. Molly has run off to the corner of the club with some guy that came up to her to dance - he’s a nice looking guy, dirty blonde hair and green eyes. From what I could gather, his name’s Alex and he’s in finance. He seems enough from what I can tell but I wasn’t going to become too invested in learning too much about him, because from what I can tell - this will be a quick hook-up and probably won’t proceed for much more after the night.
Vanessa, Maria and I make our way over to the bar again for another round of drinks when I feel a hand grip my shoulder.
“ I wanted to formally introduce myself - my name’s Tommy.” the same bouncer who asked for my I.D. as well as the one who paid for our first round of drinks came up to introduce himself. His smile was cheeky but inviting, seeing him up close again definitely has my stomach in a knot.
“And I wanted to formally thank you for the drinks, I’m Alena.” I put my hand out for him to shake it, and his grip is stronger than I could have ever imagined.
“ A pretty name for a pretty girl - would you like to take a seat? I have about a 30 minute break before I have to get back to my shift.”
“I think I could spare 30 minutes of my time.” I look over to my friends and they are both giving me a nod of approval, I can not wait to tell Molly about this later.
Tommy leads me away from the bar, to a more secluded and a bit quieter section of the club. The seats back here seem to be more for dining, but the atmosphere and aesthetic isn't much different than the main area. It looks like he had some food pre-ordered and delivered to the table back here. The table has a single lit candle on it with two drinks, an cheese burger cut in a half with a side of fries, and a side order of onion rings.
“Do you bring all of your muses back here?” I take a seat at the booth and Tommy sits across from me. He’s even more handsome under this light.
“No, just the pretty one that caught my eyes tonight.” His smile makes him even more likable.
“Oh, is that so? When will she be joining us?” a chuckle escaped his lips as he was taking a sip of his drink.
“ A girl with a sense of humor, I like it.”
I was feeling a bit proud of myself - I don’t normally get this social with a guy after just meeting him, but I think the alcohol is still lingering in my body and I am feeling good tonight. I feel confident, sexy and empowered and no one can take that away from me. The conversations are light, mostly just fun-facts about ourselves and how we occupy our time when we aren’t here on a random Saturday night. I find out that he works as a fire-fighter and works here to fill his time and his weekends and he gets a more steady schedule. From what I can gather from our 30-minute conversation, and quick dinner, he seems like a genuine guy that I would be intrigued in getting to know, however, I am still going to be very cautious in getting to know him. We have similar interests in music and movies and we both seem to be more introverted than anything, even though he works at a nightclub.
“Unfortunately, my break time is now just over and I have to move upstairs to the lounge for the second half of my shift, but I’d like to take you out on a proper date sometime if that's okay?” The thought of going out on a proper date makes my heart skip a beat, but he can’t know that just yet.
“Yeah, I’d like that, Tommy.” I ask for his phone and place my number in it, and save it as “Alena” as that is my name, but it’s up to him if he would like to change it to something else later on.
As Tommy walks me back into the main area of the club before he goes off to the second part of his shift, he looks down and leaves a kiss on my lips. It wasn’t the most romantic kiss I've ever had but it definitely left a mark.
“I’ll see you later, pretty girl.”
-
When walking back into the main area of the club, I was not expecting to see who I was currently staring at. There he was, 6 foot tall stature, curly brown hair and emerald green eyes - they looked sad. However, I couldn’t focus on that because if he was here, then where is our daughter?
“Harry, where the hell is Aria?”

🎶And I say hello🎶
Hello! Tis I! 💛. Your favorite anon. Oddly enough, right before I was going to send in this request, you posted about missing me. First of all, that made my night (like, honestly, I was having a bad night and it made me smile so big). Second of all, your most recent Blurryface fic was amazing (you’re making me into a Blurryface Tyler fan slowly but surely). Also, and I know you have absolutely no reason to care, but I’m going to the Clancy tour this week! I may drown you in your related requests…just a heads up.
Anyways, my request. I am currently in a master’s program (forensic psychology master’s students for the win!) and so I was wondering if you could possibly write a one shot where Josh tries to help the reader study for a test (doesn’t have to be forensic psychology related. Could be any class. Though I’d like it to be a college class), but ends up being more so a distraction/hinderance than a help.
As always, you can change this request up and bit if you like or you don’t have to do it. It’s up to you! Like I said, I’m but a humble freeloader and you are the artist. 😊
Study - Josh Dun x reader
Relationship: Josh Dun × Reader
Warnings: none

A/N: Rahh I love this idea! I’ve been looking forward to going to college and am in study mode so it’s perfect! When you submitted the request I was having a bad day too so I'm glad we're able to cheer each other up :) Forensic psychology sounds cool, I have a friend who is interested in doing it but I have no idea what it’s about other than crime and psychology. I'm wanting to do a major in cinematic arts (basically film school) but I'm not sure what I want my minor to be. I'm interested in so much it's hard to choose but I'm looking at music production, classics, or journalism. Because I've been working on my media studies project at school I though I'd make the subject she's studying for related to that (I hope that's okay). ALSO I’m so excited that your Clancy Tour show is this week!! That’s so exciting 😁 I have to wait till November, my show is the first international show and I’m low key scared that they’re going to change the setlist. I’m bringing my non clique friend to the show and if they decide to add or take away songs from the setlist she’s going to think I’m having a mental breakdown (which I 100% will be lol. In a good way). Anyways, sorry for the long intro/rant thing, I don't have many friends at my school and I needed to rant 😭

The last place I expected to be with Josh was my college library, considering the fact that he didn’t go to college and never planned to. In fact, I was pretty sure the last time Josh had stepped foot in a library was all the way back in high school. I’d only found out a couple months after we’d started dating that we had gone to the same school. He had graduated two years before me so we didn’t know each other but as fate would show, we met at Guitar Centre after I’d decided to teach myself drums. Turns out teaching yourself drums is hard and you do in fact probably need a teacher, and that teacher will probably end up being that cute boy that sold you your first pair of sticks. Normally, Josh and I would hang out at home or with our friends but this week I was in full study mode with finals coming up.
“Are you sure you don’t want to meet me later?” I asked, finding an empty table to sit down at. I placed my bag on the chair next to me while Josh sat down on the opposite side. He was wearing a black hoodie that he’d bought at the mall the other day and a beanie, perfect for the autumnal weather outside. It had been raining a lot recently, the light pitter patter of rain becoming a common occurrence as we fell asleep each night.
“I’m sure,” he laughed, folding himself over the table and resting his head on his arms.
“Okay,” I shrugged, pulling out my computer and opening it to my work. I had a couple pages of notes to read, and a practice essay to write. Yay. College. Josh pulled out his phone and started scrolling through social media, the speakers of his phone playing music–loud enough to hear but quiet enough to not bother anyone other than me. With each scroll of his finger the audio changed, progressively capturing my attention and pulling me away from my own screen. Josh clearly noticed I was getting distracted because he put his phone away and pointed to the blank notebook page in front of me.
“What are you supposed to be learning about anyways?” he asked, tilting his head slightly and peering over my computer screen. I tilted it back so he could get a better look, the display showing two pages from my textbook for media studies.
“Well, I’m reading this textbook section about the media and how people have different lenses that they view things. It’s kind of interesting,” I explained. Josh smiled, resting his head on his chin and listening attentively. “It’s like how you’ll view a musician character differently to how someone who doesn’t make music would.” Josh nodded as if he knew what I was talking about–he did in fact have no idea.
“Let me help you, I’m sure it’s not that hard,” he suggested. He got up and moved around to the chair next to me, grabbing my bag and placing it on the ground so he could sit down. While I knew full well that Josh wasn’t going to be any help but I wanted nothing more than to spend time with him–he was always busy with band practice or work, making me cherish every moment we had together. He pulled my computer closer to him, reading the textbook page and taking notes with my pen. As he wrote each word on the page I could feel my body tingle with excited nerves. Josh had always been able to do that to me. If he was close, I had to fight off the butterflies to the point where I would lose focus on what I was supposed to be doing–which was exactly what was happening right now. “You get that?”
“Huh?” I looked up at him as he let out a soft chuckle.
“Do you understand the concept? The uh, natural bias of viewers impacts how they see the characters in movies, books, and tv,” he repeated. I listened, taking notes and bullet-pointing what he was saying. He sounded almost like he was in the class himself, which was surprising considering Josh was the least academic person I knew.
“Mhm, yeah,” I nodded. As the lunch period ended more and more students piled into the library, filling up the tables and making the room louder.
“It’s getting kinda hot in here,” Josh said, pulling off his hoodie to reveal one of his band’s merch shirts and his perfectly toned arms. Twenty one pilots was starting to get more and more popular with their latest music being played on college and city radio, meaning the likelihood of him being recognised was rising every day. Josh was looking around the room as more people poured in but I couldn’t look away from him. My boyfriend was hot and I couldn’t deny it–I was practically drooling and couldn’t wait for that night, when we’d be able to snuggle up in bed together.
“What?” he questioned, snapping me out of my daydream. I could feel my face heat up slightly.
“You’re distracting,” I smirked, causing him to laugh.
“How am I distracting? I’m literally just sitting here,” he pointed out. I tapped my pen against his shoulder. A large smile crept onto his face along with a flush of warmth.
“You like?” he teased, causing me to roll my eyes.
“Yes. A lot,” I joked back. I leaned my chin against my hand and smiled widely at him. “Stop staring,” he laughed. I couldn't help it. What I really needed to be doing was studying but Josh was the most distracting boy on the planet and if we kept going the way we were, I wasn’t going to get any work done.
“I was supposed to be studying,” I chuckled, rolling my eyes. He knew how important my finals were for my grade and he knew how much work I’d put into my courses, but somehow he couldn’t hold back his cheeky self, even when it mattered.
“Okay, okay.” He held up his hands in mock surrender, trying to appear apologetic. He leaned back in his chair and looked at me with a sly smile. I got back to my work, taking notes and trying to figure out what I was going to write my essay on. Once again, Josh pulled out his phone, this time texting Tyler about their next gig. As he typed, he occasionally glanced at me. Without warning, he suddenly reached out and tickled my side, trying to get a reaction out of me. I laughed loudly and covered my mouth, trying to muffle the noise.
“Josh! Stop it!” I took a deep breath between laughs. Suddenly, a group of girls approached our table, their eyes wide with excitement as they clearly recognized Josh. One of them spoke up, a blonde woman wearing a white crop top and a bright pink skirt–clearly a sorority girl, my mortal enemies.
“Excuse me, you're Josh Dun from Twenty One Pilots, right?” Josh looked up from his phone, clearly taken aback by her boldness. He flashed the celebrity smile he’d been working on in the mirror lately and nodded. I rolled my eyes, trying to hold my focus. Josh shot me a quick smirk when he saw my reaction, clearly amused by the situation. He then turned his attention back to the girls who were bombarding him with questions. I could tell they were starstruck, which was weird considering that it was just Josh. The Josh I’d met at Guitar Centre, drum teacher Josh, wearing a blonde wig and making stupid skits Josh–my boyfriend Josh. A short brunette clutched her phone tightly, moving in closer to him.
“Oh my god, can I please get a picture with you?” she asked, her voice quivering with excitement. I moved closer to my computer, trying to regain my focus despite there clearly being no hope. Josh chuckled lightly at the girl's request and looked over at me, noticing how irritated I was. He could tell I was trying to focus on studying for my finals and the sudden intrusion by the girls was clearly not helping. As always, he tried to be polite.
“Sure, but can we make it quick? My girlfriend really needs to focus on her studies,” he responded, emphasizing the word ‘focus’ when he looked at me. I couldn’t hide the smile on my face. The girls nodded and Josh took a couple of photos, moving into different poses so each girl could get enough photos on each of their phones. I wondered if this was going to become more common with time, whether Josh will get recognised more often. According to Jenna, Tyler was getting it a lot but she’d found a way to cope with the fuss. She was always better than me at the celebrity girlfriend thing.
“Thank you so much!” the blonde flashed an award-winning smile at Josh.
“Good luck on your finals,” the brunette waved goodbye. I was surprised they cared enough to even address me.
“Thanks,” I smiled. The girls walked away whispering to each other about the interaction, clearly excited. “They were nice,” I said, turning to Josh.
“Most people who recognise us are. The people who like our music are different, they care. But… you need to get back to studying. It’s already 5,” he responded. I looked at the clock on my computer and sure enough it was 5pm, we’d been sitting there for an hour getting incredibly distracted with each and every interaction with each other.
“Remind me to never allow you to ‘help’ me study ever again,” I chuckled, getting back to my work.
Josh pressed his lips to my temple and ruffled my hair.
“Noted.”

@echoweaver
Figured I'd do this this way instead of adding to the comment pile. :) I should've made a separate post with my whining, but…meh. What's done is done.
But yeah, not so much "medical drama" as just…stuff. I had a liver transplant in September. I haven't specifically talked much about it here because...I don't know. I guess I thought if I didn't talk about it it would be less...I don't want to say "depressing," because I'm not depressed, and I don't want to conflate being temporarily down in the dumps with depression. Maybe "difficult" is the right word.
Anyway...I've needed a transplant for about 10 years, my original having been badly damaged by asymptomatic hepatitis C that I unknowingly had, until the damage started making me really sick. I probably originally contracted it from a blood transfusion I had in the 80s, before they tested donated blood for Hep C. Medication as well as a special diet and supplements helped with the symptoms of a failing liver for a while, but this past spring things started to go downhill more quickly and the meds, etc. weren't helping as much.
I had a matching living donor, a relative of my husband's, who wanted to do it and who was finally approved for it. (She'd been deemed too young before.) And I was at the point of, "Do it now or else you won't be healthy enough later to survive the surgery/recovery." So, I did it. And like I said, I know it will be good in the long run, but right now it just kind of sucks. (Though it is nice to be not quite so yellow. I actually have eye whites now, yay! And I look less like a character from The Simpsons. Also also, I can legitimately say that I'm part Mexican now. LOL )
I'll spare you/everyone the gorier details, but I spent almost three weeks (as opposed to the one-week-or-so that's normal for transplants) in the ICU due to rejection issues (which is why my immunosuppressant dose was very high), and then once finally released I was under a "no contact" rule. As in, no contact with anyone but my husband, who was also not allowed contact with other people or else he wouldn't be allowed contact with me. (Thank goodness DoorDash exists now or I don't know what we would have done for food.) The only time I could leave this place was to go directly to a car to be driven directly to a doctor's office where they have a special process/set-up for people in my situation, and it's just nuts. People who went batty during covid lockdowns had it easy compared to this.
So it's been….rough. I don't really care about not being able to see people so much, frankly, but I do not like being cooped up inside. My latent claustrophobia has become not-so-latent of late. At home, I can sit out on the deck or I can wander about or ride my horse for miles in the wilderness without seeing another soul, but not here in a city. Cities suck. If I'd had more time to arrange things I would've at least rented a place with a patio/balcony, but since it was very short-notice, what we have is the best we could get, and it's not very good.
The good news is it's getting better. My immunosuppressant dosages are being lowered and I have no signs of rejection yet, so… *fingers crossed* And I'm down to twice-a-week appointments instead of literally every weekday. So, as of this past Friday I'm now allowed incidental contact, which means I can walk the streets or be at outdoor venues if I stay away from people, especially children (because they go to day care/school and tend to carry all sorts of interesting illnesses), as much as possible, but I can't be indoors for long periods with lots of people, so no stores, movie theaters, restaurants, etc. But this is why we're considering a zoo trip tomorrow. My doctors probably would consider it more than "incidental contact," but at least it's outdoors, close by, and it shouldn't be too crowded since it's winter and the kids aren't out of school for Christmas yet. They also have wheelchair or scooter rentals, so I don't have to walk the whole thing, and I would just be happy to be out in an environment other than a doctor's office for a day. So, I'm pretty sure we're going to do it. Because fuck it.
But anyway. Yeah, I'm trying to be more active online. It was hard for a while because with a giant healing abdominal incision and bruised-up everything, sitting up for long periods of time was a no-go, but I'm doing much better on that front. I've actually been playing No Man's Sky more than Sims, just because it's a space exploration game that makes me feel more like I'm "out there" than Sims does. But, I'm also trying to get back into the simblr momentum. I want to get back to playing the Random Legacy I started, because I can post about that more easily than the weird-o saves I usually play. LOL It's just hard to feel motivated right now, I guess. But we'll get there.
And you know what? For a movie that's supposed to be a comedy, Lilo & Stitch makes me bawl my eyes out. And that scene that I quoted is the "worst" in that regard. But it's still one of my favorite movies. :)

👻 The Haunted House - HS/Uni AU 🎃
Based on a cute prompt I saw somewhere. Sakunosuke (22) and Osamu (17) are brothers here. Chuuya is Fukumori's adopted son. Gifts are still present in this au. Saku and Osamu's parents were government spies with abilities of their own and they were killed overseas. Ango is (20).
This took way too long for me to write and I went off my original idea by miles but hey here we are, and this is kind of rushed because I just had this idea and wnated to write somthing. Also I know it's technically to early to be Halloween posting, but do you think I care? NO!
Yay for my first ever Odango fic and also my first halloween fic.
Ships: Odango & Soukoku & Fukumori & Shin Soukoku & Kosano, Ranpoe
Under the cut due to length (1,666 words)
Sakunosuke's Perspective
It was no accident that when my parents chose to move us here it was so close to the good universities. (Looking back on it now it's almost as if they knew that they would . . .)
But when they died of mysterious circumstances (they worked for the government and nobody would tell us exactly what happened), I decided I would stay home to care for Osamu, who was six at the time.
But then when their will was read it was explicitly stated that both of us had to stay in school through uni or else we wouldn't get any inheritance. It didn't make any sense, if I had to leave for uni in seven years, who was going to care for Osamu?
Luckily when I got into uni it was close enough that I can drive home most weekends with no trouble. And our neighbours, an older couple, Yukichi and Rintarou Mori-san, watch over Osamu while I'm gone for the week. They have a daughter named Elise, a kid named Kyusaku, and a son named Chuuya who's in Osamu's grade. Plus Chuuya is Osamu's boyfriend.
I have a boyfriend as well, Sakaguchi Ango. He follows me into the house.
We're a little early because we only have one afternoon class on Fridays so Osamu and Chuuya haven't been let out of school yet.
We get to work, filling my school bag with snacks and water and the ouija board, all in preparation for tonight's adventures.
You see, there's this old house that used to belong to some old mafia boss who passed away from illness a few years ago. The property has fallen into decay ever since, and since it's Halloween Osamu begged us to come with him and have a big camp out inside. Because that's like the smartest thing ever.
It's fine, it's not like we have anything else to do. Akiko and Koyou are having a girls only sleepover and Ranpo and Edgar are do a true crime/ghost adventures marrathon (no thank you). If I had to guess Nathaniel is handing out flyers about resisting the devil to innocent kids who had the unfortuante idea to try and trick or treat at his house, and Howard is asleep.
Besides, it's not dangerous, and Ango and I will be able to say we made out in a haunted house.
We hear the keys rattle, and childishly Ango and I duck behind the sofa.
When we hear footsteps entering the kitchen we jump out. "Trick or Treat!!!"
"AHHH! What the ever loving Jesus?"
"Huh?" I'm just as confused as the kid who just jumped a metre in the air. They're pale with perfectly divided lavender and white hair down to his hips, and they're hiding behind a tall boy who's even more of a bean pole than Osamu.
"Calm yourself, Sigma." He has an unmistakable Russian accent. He turns to Osamu, "This is your brother?"
"Fuck you, Saku." Osamu flips me off with a smile in lieu of an answer. I ruffle his hair and he hugs me. I tug at the bandages over his eye playfully.
"What happened there?"
He doesn't answer.
"He ran into a pole." Chuuya explains.
Ango raises an eyebrow behind his owl like glasses. "Okay, I doubt that, but anyways . . ."
"Cool, Osamu never mentioned having siblings!" Another boy steps forward with his hand outstretched, his handshake is firm and he shakes harder and faster than is necessary. His white plait shakes with the motion and his small top hat threatens to slip off his head but doesn't.
"I'm Nikolai! Can you guess where I just moved from?" The boy for some reason reminds me of a circus troupe member. He pronounces his name with a heavy accent but the rest of the words are almost accent free.
"Umm . . ."
Nikolai looks at the other Russian boy, as if telling him something silently.
"Five more seconds." The boy says in a bored monotone. It takes me a second and I realise he must be translating. Nikolai must have practised the first line to say it in Japanese, how cute.
Hmm, if he's asked me to guess, maybe he isn't russian. Ah, why am I taking this so seriously? Whatever!
" . . . Russia." I guess.
"Nope. Wrong. You lose." the boy translates again in monotone. I suppress a laugh, not wanting to seem rude.
"He moved here from Ukraine on Monday. But he speaks Russian so Fyo's helping him learn Japanese." Osamu explains
"You speak very well already Nikolai-kun."
Nikolai beams, "Thank you for the compliment, but Fedya is the one to thank for all his work, he's been teaching me so well. Fedya's such a good teacher."
"Yeah, count on Mackerel here, to invite the weird Russian kids to our camp out." Chuuya scoffs and pulls Osamu closer. My brother doesn't say anything for a moment. Then he gestures to the tallest of the russians.
"This is Fyodor, the one I've told you about. He moved here from Russia last year."
"Oh, yeah, you've mentioned him."
"How have you been liking Japan?" Ango asks
"It's a bit hot but on the whole a quaint place." he says it like he's reading from a travel blog written by the people who write instruction manuals.
This time neither I nor Ango can stifle our laughter. It is objectively true, Japan is alot smaller than Russia.
Chuuya points to the kid with the two toned hair, "This is Sigma, nobody really knows where they came from, they kind of just appeared when we were grade 7. This is the first time we've brought them over. They're five by the way, so no swearing tonight."
"Shut up!" Sigma shoves Osamu who's still firmly anchored to Chuuya, and doesn't move.
Chuuya's shoulders shake with laughter and he pats Osamu's shoulders to congratulate him on the tease.
"Alright, we've got snacks, water and that stupid book Kunikida bought for Osamu's birthday last year, about catching ghosts."
"Koonikida? The idealist? Hmm, and I thought he was allergic to fun. It's good, maybe Osamu is rubbing off on him." Nikolai giggles maniacally.
"So is everyone coming then?" Fyodor sounds less than pleased.
"Nope, Kunikida says he has to study, he joined some group with some of the American transfer students, Meg and Louisa, at least that means we're seeing less of him." Chuuya emphasises the word study to show exactly what he thinks of the slightly older boy, "It's fine with me. Think about it surrounded by girls and yet, at this point he should just find himself a boyfriend. It's those "ideals" of his, I'm telling you. He shared a few with us once . . ." he shivers theatrically, "My ears are scared now. John said this whole thing was lame, but he's really just being a coward. Atsushi and Ryu finally got the courage to ask each other out, they're having a sleepover. And Kenji invited Kyouka to go trick or treating in his village. They left this morning."
Everyone nods.
"So, you got supplies?" he asks me
"Yup!"
We all look out the window to the street where the sun's light is beginning to get softer and night is bleeding its way across the sky, smudging the blue with black until the whole canvas is covered.
"Well, it's starting to get dark. We should leave now." Ango hands me the bag and we set off.
The walk is far but it passes quickly with the chatter of the group. Chuuya and my brother stayed in the back. I notice Osamu hasn't said much of anything but that isn't too unusual for him.
When we get to the decrepit old building it looks like the inspiration for all the haunted houses I've ever seen. The yard is full of broken or rusted lawn ornaments and ivy covers the crumbling wood siding of the house.
When we walk to the front door I look back and do a quick head count. Everyone's here. And Osamu is wearing Chuuya's jacket. He shivers even though the night is warm.
"Awww, are you cold Osamu?" I tease my brother who clings to his boyfriend.
Chuuya shoves me back gently and rolls his eyes, "Oi, lay off, he's sick."
Oh. That must be why he's been so quiet. And now that I think about it he does look paler than normal.
"Aww, did you catch the sniffles?"
"Shut up, I'll cough on you Saku, don't think I won't."
We all laugh at the quiet violence in his voice. I'll admit he even scares me sometimes but he's clearly in no condition to do anything.
"Did any of you pack medicine, or am I expected to do everything round here?" Ango asks the question I'd just been thinking.
"We're not dumb, yeah I have some stuff in my bag. My dad is a doctor, remember?"
"Yeah, Saku. I'll be fine, let's gooooo already." he draws out the go with exaggerated boredom.
"Yay, LET'S GOOO! Yippie!" Nikolai jumps up and down until Fyodor forces him to stay put with a gentle hand on his shoulder.
Osamu shoves me and I shove back, then we step inside.
"Bet you can't make it all night, eh, Sigma?" I hear Chuuya say to the kid who honestly looks a little terrified.
"O-of c-ourse I can." Then under his breath, "Why do I go along with these idiots?"
This is going to be the most interesting Halloween we've had so far, that's for sure.
(A/N: Yes, I did remember now that Ango is his surname and I may change it but couldn't think of a cute nickname Oda would have for him and I didn't feel like typing Sakaguchi out a bunch of times.)

Feel like an asshole for forgetting I exist again!! GUESS WHOS BACK.
*ahem* anyway-
How have you been? I’ve been alright, very very tired and busy but now!! I’m almost at Christmas break and can start to deteriorate mentally again hehehehe. Anywho - did you know it’s possible to be just a head?
I’m sure you know that for around seven seconds after decapitation a head is still fully conscious !!! And can blink and mouth and acknowledge!! But! We - as humans - have successfully decapitated monkeys and kept them live as only heads for weeks - starvation being what kills them!
What I wouldn’t do to make you the first living head - all mine stashed away from the world. Everyone else is to pussy to actually allow the experiment to proceed on a human - but I’m sure I could convince you.
Keeping you in my room, unable to move without my help, unable to eat without my help, unable to do anything without me. Hehe.
Anyway hope your days good :3 I’d go into more detail but your bois tired and at school !!<3
- Your Mortician💉 (who’s very close to revealing itself because anon is hard)
Welcome back!! I missed you, I was thinking about you not too long ago and wondering where you’ve been T^T
I’ve been okay! Haven’t been up to much, just kind of existing. ALSO you better make sure to relax and have fun during Christmas break… deteriorating mentally does not sound good. Talk to people and do things you enjoy during it instead!!! I’ll always be here to listen to whatever you have to say too :D
I actually didn’t know about the monkeys thing, I’ll have to look into that later. That’s really interesting.
I’d happily volunteer at a chance to be the first living head! If it went wrong, oh well, you can just preserve my head and keep me to yourself that way. I think that’d make a pretty cool decoration. If it goes right, then yay! \(^o^)/
I mean… I don’t think I’d be doing much eating as just a head, I’d probably end up starving too. But you can have your fun with me until then! I really wouldn’t be able to do anything without your help in that state, my entire existence would depend on you
My day has been good! I hope that you had a good day too <3 I also hope that you are feeling less tired and that school went well! Sorry for responding to this so late σ^_^; And if you want to reveal yourself at any time, then go right ahead! I don’t mind, ehehe

Hi cas, it’s grieving anon. Here for the vibes today. TAYLOR SWIFT… I mean…
So, ive had a few weird things happen. I got distracted and fell over, and injured myself so yay… and then I had the weirdest thing happen.
So I mentioned I got nightmares right? That I woke my mum up by shouting and sitting up in my sleep. So I have a bunk bed (small room- needed space for a desk). And a few days ago I had this creepy dream and legit propelled myself out of bed- still half asleep and panicking. Then had to climb back in.
And last night I literally crawled from lying down to the other end of my bed and climbed over the bars and fell OVER and OFF my bed to the floor 😭
You know the length of like, a normal door? It was like that far that I fell. I woke up both my parents.
IM 16! I shouldn’t be flying out of bed. Luckily i’m not too hurt tho. I remember the dream, I was just climbing over a fence, I couldn’t feel the floor but I knew it was there so I let go, and then I WOKE UP ON MY FUCKIGN FLOOR.
Like whyyyyy.
Anyway. So Long, London. My first favourite. “HOW MUCH SAD DID YOU, think I had, did you, think I had in me, HOW MUCH TRAGEDY?”
Then, of course, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart. AMAZING. Yes.
And, Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
So far, they’re my fav but i’m sure the others will claw their way into my heart too.
Anyway, my sisters been annoying me. She seems annoyingly fine. She called all the injury’s i’ve been getting “pre-exam” injuries… NO! They’re post fucking death injuries.
I know her, I know she’s suffering in silence. But it means whenever I see her, she seems fine. And it’s fucking annoying.
I don’t know anymore. My mum, she said her nightmares went away after my Nans death when she went to a grief therapist or something. i’ve never gone to a therapist. I don’t know how it’d feel. And, I don’t really have the time.
But I don’t want to wake up on my floor again.
I feel like I blinked and my life became this mess I can’t control. And I have no energy to anymore. I lost all my fire. I used to strive to learn and care and participate. Now i’d happily rot away. Why bother.
Anyway (that’s like the third time i’ve said that now 🤦♀️) “IM JUST GETTING COLOUR BACK INTO MY FACE IM JUST MAD AS HELL CAUSE I LOVED THIS PLACE”
Writing these at the end of some of my days has been very stress relieving so thank you. I’ve bullied myself into not picking the scab on the horrid massive cut I got from falling over. I’ve refrained from pressing into the bruises I got from sleep falling/climbing off my stupid bed.
“IS IT A WONDER I BROKE. LETS HEAR ONE MORE JOKE”
This isn’t even my usual music vibe 😭
“DONT YOU WORRY FOLKS, WE TOOK OUT ALL HER TEETH” Iconic.
“YOU SHOULD BE. YOU SHOULD BE.”
“YOU WOULDN’T LAST AN HOUR IN THE ASYLUM WHERE THEY RAISED ME”
Literally everything i’ve tried to do this week has failed. School work, running, sleeping.
I’m so tired.
Hi hon! I'm so glad to hear from you! <3
Nightmares after a loss are SUPER common, and you're right to know that they don't have to do with exams. As far as therapy, I know you said you don't have time, and I used to say the same thing but then I got to thinking...
I wasted SO much time being sad, run down, anxious, depressed. Like I probably spent at least an hour a day in anxiety paralysis, you know? So devoting an hour a week to STOPPING those symptoms actually saves me time, in the long run.
It may not feel the same for you, but it's something to think about! <3
I'm so glad you like TTPD. Using music to cope is also super helpful. Screaming lyrics is so...emotionally rejuvinating.
Keep messaging me <3 I'm thinking of you!
