Yep, this. Misandry is absolutely a thing, and it's not okay to swing past the "people from this group hurt me" territory into "everyone from this group is bad" rhetoric. As a very quick aside, this changes when the status as a member of the group is a choice you can make, and that choice involves hurting people - e.g., being a billionaire, being a Trump supporter, etc.. There's an argument there for being a victim of the harmful movement in an of itself (such as Trump supporters who exist in environments that make it nigh-impossible to even understand why said Trump supporting is bad), though my general stance is that of course there's always an explanation for how people got to where they are, but that doesn't excuse you from the responsibility of being a shitty person. If you choose to do something harmful, that's still on you, and you are still responsible for your actions, and one of the consequences of those actions is that people will not like you on account of you being a massive fucking asshole.
Anyways, I digress, just wanted that out of the way.
The idea that women are at fault for the alt-right radicalization of men is really fucked up, because it shouldn't be the job of a group of people who've been oppressed and hurt to make the discussion of that palatable and preceded by reassurances for the privileged group who has to hear about it now. Does that make it okay to say "kill all men"? Absolutely fucking not. But as OP said, it seems like a lot of the people putting this responsibility on women are taking issue with open discussion of sexual harassment and assault, with women being increasingly unwilling to put up with misogyny, and with women calling out gender inequality when they see it.
This shifting of blame sounds disturbingly similar to rhetoric like "she rejected me harshly, so it's okay for me to harass her," or "it's her fault she was raped for dressing like that in the first place."
No matter the circumstances, you don't get to offload the fault for your actions onto other people. This applies even when the other people in question are doing wildly unreasonably things (e.g., actual for real misandry). You are still responsible for your own choices regardless of what other people do, and it especially isn't the job of the people you hurt to take that burden from you.
Nooo mutual don’t put that “men fall down the alt-right pipeline bc women/feminists are too mean” post on my dash nooo mutual don’t try to say women need to be nicer when dealing with misogynistic men nooo mutual nooo

What's your most hated Bummy scene?? I'll tell you mine. It has to be the kiss in the hospital lobby and buck getting outed because of his soot covered mouth. Never hated a 911 episode more than that. I love Buck. They just made a mockery out of him by that scene.
Where do I even start.. Couldn't agree more about the soot scene, although I'm more angry at the writers about that one than I am at Tommy, given how important it was to Buck that he came out to Eddie and Maddie on his own terms and how much weight he gave those interactions I feel like even though that one was supposed to be a cute little "hehe look this is very Buck coded", it fell short in that I would've liked everyone else at the 118 to find out in a more heartfelt way ya know??
In terms of my least favourite(s), the whole arc with billy boils was a very interesting play by the writers in that it highlighted the differences between Eddie and Tommy in a meaningful way. On one hand, Eddie, who has presumably been with Buck in the hospital the whole time he was being treated for his boils, is used to Buck's hyperfixations and Wiki deep dives, and finds them wholesome and cute. I reblogged a post a little bit ago where Buck told Maddie about how her and Chim always finish each others sentences and that theyre basically already dating, and then contrasted with how Eddie was finishing Buck's sentences in that scene. Buddie fanatic aside (I will admit im obsessed with these two idiots), THIS is the kind of domesticity I've always wanted for Buck's partners, where they acknowledge and love those little moments that he has.
Now lets go ahead and look at Tommy's side of this whole thing: Tommy's reaction to seeing the boils + how he treated and viewed Buck's obsession as exactly that, an obsession + the graveyard scene??? You can break it down into "oh well Buddie have known eachother since s2, Bummy have been together 6 months", but from my perspective the fact that Buck didn't even realise Tommy didn't like women until their 6 month anniversary (???) just goes to show that they don't really know that much about one another. Tommy was completely right in the breakup scene; he was definitely not Buck's last, and the poor guy is definitely in need of some self exploration (#letbuckfuck) before I'd be happy to see Buddie honestly (and thats not even considering the work that needs to be done on Eddie, my guy is going through it rn with Chris). Anyway; I just read this amazing fic by playinginthundestorms (on ao3) and I think the way they described Tommy (slightly Tommy bashing), was overall how I imagine he sees Buck. It never really felt like Tommy was fond of these little things Buck does in the way that Eddie (and the rest of the 118) are, more seeing him as childish or juvenile as the fic described. And it makes sense, tommy is older than Buck. A whole other can of worms and probably the icing on the cake for me was the Abby debacle, the misogyny really showed??? like man you have not changed since Hen my lord. Calling Abby out for running off with some "himbo half her age" was wild considering thats what he is currently doing with Buck? Especially with all the shit she had to go through with her mum at the time? Like what on earth is your excuse Temu? Anyway, to cut a long rant short, I actually have given you like 50 reasons, but i definitely think that Tommy was a well placed plot device and it was obvious from the start. Also, ABC could've chosen ANYONE to be Buck's first experience with a man and they were like yep lets use the racist homophobe from Chim and Hen begins cos why not?! I probably would've had a far less negative opinion of him if he was a fresh character, and I think that's on purpose, I think it would be really interesting if they go down the road of hen and chim sharing their experiences with Tommy now that they've broken up, and that they didn't say anything cos they just wanted Buck to be happy. Definitely after that heartfelt scene with Hen especially, that I didn't get cos of that bloody soot scene.

can someone explain to me why people love to claim that their muse is “bisexual” but try their damnedest to exclusively ship them with the same sex if they’re a male muse, but shipped with the opposite sex if female. at that point you might as well make your male muse gay and your female muse straight. and i know that you can have preferences and lean more so one way than the other, but that’s not what i’m talking about. i’m talking about people who claim to have a bi muse but treat them as anything but. like, are y’all…….allergic???? do you hate female muses THAT badly???? bc people are more than happy to ship with a muse with a dick, but let them have a vagina and y’all shy away. and the amount of “bi” muses i’ve seen who LOVE to smut if their partner’s muse has a dick but won’t touch the smut if their partner’s muse has a vagina is WILD.
it’s a disservice to bi people everywhere to claim to have bi muses but treat them as if they’re gay or straight. and note i’m talking about biSEXUALS, not biROMANTICS. bc i’ve seen plenty of people not mind claiming that their muse is bisexual but only in the romance sense, never sexually.
and don’t even get me STARTED on people who shy away from shipping with muses who aren’t cis-gendered…
#anyway- it’s the misogyny for me as i always say.#and idk how much sense this makes. i might elaborate more later but i’m at work and needed to vent this real quick#mobile.#tw venting// ////

Feyre: Rhysand is my mate and I'm telling you this to your face.
Also Feyre: If you try and break my mating bond, I'm going to ruin your life.
Also Feyre: If you drag me back to Spring against my will, I'll destroy everything you love.
Tamlin: Break her mating bond so I can drag her back to Spring and we can start over.
Also Tamlin: I can't believe you destroyed everything I love and ruined my life!

if i hear one more person unironically identifying themself as afab or amab I'm gonna start biting
#theres times where it's useful to delineate (e.g. talking about the ways nb people are treated depending on which sex they're assumed to be#born with)#(tho i would argue that it's not agab per se but rather assumed current sex)#but PLEASE can i stop seeing people earnestly calling themselves ''afab nonbinary''#OR ALSO implying that they have some innate understanding of womanhood based on how they were raised#I've come across a bunch of nonbinary spaces online#where it's maybe 90% self-identified afab people#and they always have this undertone of ''well‚ we're not women‚ but we Understand™️ by virtue of our assigned sex''#which‚ maybe it's just me‚ but it always implies that trans women & transfems somehow are barred from understanding misogyny#bc of the fact that they were raised as boys & don't have the right body parts#(the ''''right'''' body parts lemme be clear)#um yeah basically my whole issue with it (other than that it's basically recreating the gender binary‚ including the ''inexorably tied to#biological sex'' part)#is that it misgenders transmascs & trans men (me lol thats why i get angy abt it) by implying we have some sort of inherent connection to#womanhood by virtue of our sex at birth#and also feeds into the exact thing that terfs like to say; that trans women will never really understand sexism & that they're interlopers#bc they ''are amab'' / ''are male fakers''#anyway.#o.#trans#transsexual#transgender#afab#amab#agab#transphobia#transmisogyny#<- these guys mostly for the stuff in the tags in case people have those blocked & don't wanna hear me talking abt it#transmasc#transfem

No like seriously ARE we ready to talk about the misogyny in fandom spaces
#or more so like. the disparity. of depictions of men vs of women. i#and like. dear god. it's dire out here sometimes#um. anyway i dont say this to like invalidate anyone and i worry that by even saying this it feels terfy?#but its like no u can talk about misogyny while including trans people especially bc of the overlap. heterocissexism. is ghat a word#like . ugh i just. its never like an individual thing i have beef with u know#like if someone tends to prefer male characters or writing men loving men im never gonna shit on em yk#it just . bothers me how large of a trend it is#especially in comparison to f/f...#like jave u see the differences on ao4#ao3*#or the differences in how people talk about men vs women here#obviously theres room outside that binary and i fucking hate it as it stands anyway but it does stand and we should talk about it.#like i dont think this is just a cis issue at all. we should also talk about how we talk about nonbinary or gender non conforming characters#but its also like can we be normal about women too. and not prioritize men always . um#hey guys . rambling in the tags is all to say. this post explicitly includes trans people. i will not tolerate any#transphobic rhetoric on any responses to it. you will be blocked.#sierra speaks#misogyny in fandom

katara spends the whole show searching for acknowledgements of her grief from others to get closure of some kind, or to gain a sliver of peace. but it never sticks. talking about it doesn't ease the pain. time didn't ease the pain. action doesn't ease the pain. the war is still going and the wound is still growing, so of course she still hurts. her story doesn't end with her resolving that pain, but she does accept that she's always going to be angry and sad, and the empty space where her mother was will always be there. and of course it will. of course it will. but she's strong enough to always be aware of that emptiness, and to stop trying to fill it in.
#saying the final real but petty bit in the tags. i think that's part of y ppl feel so weird about the southern raiders#besides the misogyny#bc the arc is resolved w yes it does suck. it's always going to suck.#she will always miss her mom & she'll always hate the ppl who killed her#which feels weird in a kids show that usually resolves things at the end of the episode#but yeah there's also the misogyny#katara#atla#anyway one thing about me is i will return to atla posting at any time. atla jumpscare

it's so telling when someone says radical feminism is "white woman shit" and you bring up the fact that in many places such as africa or asia, the only feminism that prominently exists is radical feminism, and for those places it's just considered regular feminism that you get told those women live in places that aren't progressive enough for them to understand their actions properly. to say these women are too dumb to realize that their beliefs are "bad" simply because they don't align with western mainstream liberal feminism is rooted in xenophobia and racism, not to mention a lack of understanding of the struggles and violence women from these countries regularly go through, which can range anywhere from fgm to men rubbing and wiping their cum on the back of women's clothes in trains. but of course, as usual, there's no intelligent response to this so you just end up getting blocked or get rape wished on you.
#my grandma was born and raised in south sudan she considers herself a feminist and her beliefs#along with all of the women she knows believe in what radfems believe in#being against things like surrogacy forced marriage harmful sex culture misogyny male violence and femicide#i live in a primarily hispanic/black area and literally the only people who try to push gender shit on us is white people#and if you say you don't believe in all that you get called an ignorant white supremacist#white people put the mirror down when you're calling non white people white supremacists#anyway today's rant is brought to you by a white guy who told me (a non white darkskin child of 2 immigrants)#that of course i didn't understand gender politics because i'm too privileged#and then went on to say women in south korea aren't 'booksmart' enough to realize their corset movement is a 'terf' movement.....#my mom always tells me do not engage with white people who want to play devil's advocate with race based matters#and yet here i am doing it again lol#/rambling

#cont thoughts of my last rb but. i think ppl are so quick to say that teruko is a badly written character bc of her role in the story??#idk how to explain it but. yeah bsd isnt the best at writing female characters and theres hints of misogyny here and there#but ppl always say teruko's entire character is a product of misogyny and that is just. not true.#prob bc people focus too much on the fact that shes a rare female character idk#yeah shes extremely dedicated to the hunting dogs and fukuchi. her LEADER. i dont think thats misogyny#people dont say that about chuuya being extremely loyal to the mafia 😭😭#'her having to give the credit to fukuzawa for killing fukuchi is so misogynistic!!!' except youre ignoring what that scene is really about#it's about two kinds of people. how fukuzawa couldnt kill out of love vs how teruko killed because of it#it's about the fact that SHE can do it. shes strong enough to. SHE understands whats necessary. SHE pushed her feelings aside.#which i thought was amazing. it really solidified her role as a SOLDIER which was how she was introduced. shes VICE CAPTAIN of the hd i fee#like people always forget that.#it's also rare to see a female character act on smth that isnt emotional cause it's always male characters pushing aside their grief for th#better. i loved that we were shown how fukuzawa who is stone cold and an ex assassin CLDNT do it while teruko who is explosive and emotiona#could!! it was an interesting side to both their characters#thats not to say teruko isnt a victim of misogyny. cause people do hate her for traits they love in other characters (shes very similar to#ranpo and chuuya and jouno off the top of my head)#but to say that her entire self is a result of misogyny is doing a disservice to her character#and shows that you cant look past her relationships with male characters idk#saying she doesnt have anything outside male characters is so untrue i cant stand that argument. bc SHE DOES. youre the one not seeing it#her role during the skyfall arc was amazing how do we forget that#anyway sorry. to each their own ofc im not defending bsd's occasional bad writing#but teruko get behind me djhfjhd

So which is it? Did Bruce treat everyone like that or was he only super mean to Steph bc of the writers? Like I’m tired of the excuses being made, if it was one and done whatever but the way Bruce treated steph did impact her story and then changing stephs personality to golden retriever blond doesn’t change that at all lmao
#fans when the character flaws are socially unacceptable 😖😖😖😖#like yeah a lot of tim and Bruce’s writing did reflect racism classism and misogyny of the writers#that doesn’t make their impact on the characters they were talking to any less racist misogynistic or classist#and i genuinely think choosing to ignore it in order to preserve ur image of ur white fave whilst completely changing the way steph Duke#Damian cass etc. behave is more racist than the writing#this is just to me#to ME changing the things tim said and making Steph a ditzy Girlboss blond is more misogynistic than ANYTHING they could’ve written#at least they had a point where growth could happen and the possibility to give Steph a backbone#y’all just say tim is a coffee addict and go#and It’s the personality shifts that bother me the most#like this most recent Damian is ass sorry#like in canon making his relationship with Bruce good or closer than it actually was….#and ppl saying Bruce changed post death like no he hugged Damian once lmao#like that didn’t change a damn thing between them before#and if it was presented as codependency and trauma bonding whatever but it’s not they just act like he was always a difficult fave#which fuels racist fans who already thought that even more#yuck#and every single personality shift that happens is to prop Bruce up and by extension tim bc the meanest thing dc does to him is nothing#like y’all think tim is most hated NOT true#he’s badly written in the sense that his personality becomes being the perfect soldier for Bruce#which y’all play into by doing the same shit downplaying everyone else but making him pissed about it#get real#if I see another fic or hc about how Damian actually can’t withstand torture or needs Tim’s help to hack smth 😭#y’all can’t stand that Damian IS talented it’s so sick like his whole issue is that he’s a kid with kid emotions who knows how to do all#this shit and mentally knows he ‘should’ behave differently and fails in an effort to go towards that bc he doesn’t take him still being a#kid into account UNLESS it’s an advantage. saying ur a better writer than dc by saying Talia was play fighting? ok…#when ppl are like ‘Talia/Ra’s would never respect a kid enough to do XYZ…’ THATS THE POINT!!#anyways sorry tiktok vid pissed me off this went everywhere

the problem with me and nolan is that i ALMOST love a lot of his movies (that ive seen) except in almost every one there's 1 glaring aspect that i hate (it's usually misogyny) that makes it hard to like the rest of the movie
#i mean. oppenheimer is an outlier bc there's several aspects i dont like abt that one#interstellar? misogyny. inception? only one i don't have major issues with#misogyny still there but at least theres less than fuckin. interstellar#dont get me wrong i like interstellar otherwise but like.#both it and oppenheimer have a problem of the film TELLING us that the women in it are super smart and influential! but in the film itself#they never get to show that like. when does murphy do anything really. when does anne hathaway's character do anything except#hinder the mission because of ~emotions~ why is the main guy always right even though hes not always the most qualified person in the room#why does kitty oppenheimer say ive been upgraded to housewife! sarcastically only to be cast right back into that role by the film#no matter how good emily blunt may be she can't save that she has 1 good scene and it's not that long#dont even get me started on jean tatlock in that film ill start biting.#i KNOW that parts of oppenheimer are supposed to be subjective but do we ever see those women in the ~objective~ section? no#and if that's your only portrayal of these women with only vague indicators that there might be something else going on i'm not letting it#go. excuse for writing them badly#ANYWAY#neon has thoughts#movie tag#i think nolan and i just don't get along. i think i need to accept this and move on with my life but unfortunately it's really frustrating.#all his stuff is ALMOST good. and then

I need a pretty significant degree of commonality (both subjective and objective) between characters to ship them and I think that's why it's so hard to find f/f ships that draw me in. It's like people making media want to create the polarity that would usually be there through gender by making these women so starkly different that I just become unable to connect.
#like theres always gotta be either super different personalities or an age gap#or a power imbalance or really different experiences values and circumstances and thats just not what im about#and this isnt to say i would like that type of media to disappear because i know a lot of people enjoy that contrast#im just saying i wish that wasnt sooo much of what we have#like nearly all of it#im saying this because i saw a gifset of portrait of a lady on fire which i love#and is one of the rare instances of wlw media where the romance itself really moved me#and i remembered the céline sciamma quote about how it was important to her to have them be#as equal as she could possibly make them down to the heights#and how thats probably why i was able to connect with it so much#and like i love Carol (2015) Dir. Todd Haynes but I don't ship Carol and Therese!#anyway this is my periodic complaint about the lack of f/f friends to lovers#but like real ones not like headcanon ones although even then for most this would still apply!#ramblings#i could say a lot about how this doesnt plague m/m nearly as much and how it all circles back to misogyny but ill spare myself#but heres the thing ill still go ahead and check out anything with lesbians in it and support it and enjoy it in different ways#so this is not an excuse as to why im not contributing to wlw because i AM out there constantly searching#lest anyone think im doing a thing i hate which is people making up excuses not to care about women

thinking about. womanhood again
#been thinking about how much of the way i have let some kind of womanhood in as a fragment of my identity is infleunced by me thinking that#'well people are going to gender me as a woman anyway so might as well accept it'#and i think that's a part of it (not a thought i overall enjoy. feels somehow defeatist or like i'm giving in or whatever.)#(which i dont think it is but it's a kneejerk reaction)#i do also think that the way i have been actively trying to unpack some of my internalized misogyny has a part in it#i'm not proud to say that i did grow up as a girl who thought womanhood (as it was presented to me at the time)#sounds stupid and way too much effort and unrelatable#but now that my view of the different ways to experience and relate to womanhood have broadened#i can say that i do feel some connection to it. even if i dont usually really claim it as wholly mine#and that acceptance has made it easier to be perceived as a woman in my day to day life#i'm not saying it never stings but. isk it's a bit different#i have said it before but the main thing that bothers me is being seen always and only as a woman.#like i can be a little bit of a woman and Kind Of Like a woman or a close approximate of a woman#but if Woman is all people see my gender as that stingsss#just like being seen solely as a man stings too#(this doesnt happen often so usually it feels more like a fun gender sprinkled in.#or like. it affirms my gender by telling me that i can confuse people)#like. i'm not really a woman i'm not really a man but those are the two options currently recognized by most of society#so a mix of both feels like the best case scenario for me personally genderwise#because gender neutral terms dont always just. hit the same for me as mixing gendered ones does. this varies greatly though#but also i would like to. hm. how to say this. not make that into a rule for myself? i dont want to overthink it#(<- says a guy who has never not overthought anything)#like i have been finding a lot of joy in dressing a bit more masculine in the last year which is wonderful#but sometimes i find myself stressing that if i look 'too masc' people are going to misread my identity more often#because i have a masc leaning chosen name and all#but i try to remind myself that. bitch people are going to misread and misunderstand your gender no matter what you do. relax#but idk. anyway abolish gender so i can start stressing over something else#nowe talks#gender
