I do feel like part of the problem with fallen london's writing is that many christians and many cultural christians don't understand that it is in fact offputting to constantly have it assumed, forced upon you, and just the constant pervasiveness of the christian ideology acting like no other ideology exists. having the bible quoted to you in a game is not exactly fun? for a lot of people? and will severely turn off some of those who might otherwise enjoy the story?

this is specifically an issue in a roleplaying game, where you are playing as your own character, from your own pov, and the story acts as if there's only one background you could possibly be - as if there's only one view of text and story that matters. one story after the next, from the latest big story, to the latest ES, and even Mask of the rose's assumptions of the player character and the heavily church centered plot, it just keeps happening over and over again with the constant focus on christanity without any other even slight options.

in a game with a set protagonist this wouldnt be as big of a deal - or even one that straight up says theyre only writing for specific people, if that was admitted. I would just know from the get go not to play it. instead of this halfway point and wishy washy.

theres been some really great points of aknowledgment and feedback response, with the freehold and city in silver portion, but it seems any time a step forward is made, the game doubles down in its assumptions the next time around.

I don't know. maybe the game just isn't made for people like me. perhaps i've been unrealistic in what i want from it. perhaps im simply not what is wanted within the audience.

I finished it a little over a week ago and even though I've been mad busy it is eating at my brain like it's out to kill me, and I suspect it's gonna keep doing that for a While. 8) Anyway time for my post-yugioh spinoff watch tradition of typing up my thoughts in a little (big) retrospective so so LEMME GET STARTED!! ok i can't talk about VRAINS without talking about the. circumstances surrounding my life while I was watching it. if i may be a bit emotional and Real Talk for a moment. tw talking about loss of a parent, but I started watching vrains in mid-October, a few weeks before my dad would pass away in early November. And then I finished watching it last Sunday, a few days before my family would scatter my dad's ashes at sea on April 24th. And let me tell you it is almost downright hysterical just how About Grief (especially Familial Grief) vrains is. I kept jokingly calling it "truly Such a yugioh to watch for someone whose dad just died"--literally why are there THREE. THREE!!!!! DEAD DAD/PARENT PLOTLINES GOING ON WITH CHARACTERS IN THIS SHOW. THREE!!!! FUCKING GOD LMAO. like it's not the first yugioh to be About grief but jesus mary and joseph the way grief, loss, the idea of preserving the memory of those we love and how they can live on in our hearts forever, the way all of that is so intrinsically baked into vrains and the way it tells its story is A) genuinely so moving and sweet and also B.) ABSOLUTELY INSANE TO EXPERIENCE GIVEN HOW THINGS HAVE BEEN GOING FOR ME THESE LAST FEW MONTHS. SLASH POS. SLASH LOTS OF LOVE

all that to say yugioh vrains is just so "i experienced this piece of media at the exact transitional period of my life where i needed it most," and that's going to be special forever for me. the effect it's already having on me is of a magnitude i can't even fathom yet. it's going to sit with me for years. IT'S GOOD. IT'S REALLY FUCKIN GOOD. This yugioh made me bawl my eyes out like three different times over the way it shares themes of how grief and trauma can puss you to extremes,and how keeping close the bonds we have with each other, even when the people we care about have to go to away, is so so crucial and helps us move forward. There is love and there is loss in every inch of this fucking yugioh and it's incredible, I see why it's such a beloved series. I KNOW NOW. I SEE THE PEAK. I FEEL IT.

I do also absolutely see why it seems like a lot of people hold this as one of if not The most "serious" yugioh. And I get it! It handles some really fuckin grim, heavy topics (most all of them really remarkably well and gracefully!) BUT ALSO. I GOTTA SAY. THIS YUGIOH IS SO FUCKING FUNNY. AND SO GOOFY. AND SO RIDICULOUS. AND THATS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE EXPERIENCE FOR ME. I watched the dub primarily as I usually do (+ all of s3 subbed and some other eps subbed) but let's be real the original is hilarious too. You get your 18 episodes of Ai being one of the most tragic, miserable saddest yugioh villains of all time but before then and even during it he is so STUPID. SLASH POS. HE'S BOUNCING AROUND BEING AN ANNOYING LITTLE FUNNYMAN LOONEY TUNE AND IT RULES. I WILL NOT STAND FOR VRAINS COMEDY ERASURE. the comedy makes the heavy shit hit even harder!!! FROG AND PIGEON ROCK YOUR WHOLE WORLD.

also, re: the dub. again i know im dubliker3000 im always hyping up the dubs but vrains miiiight be my favorite of all of them, alongside the arc-v dub. YES it didnt translate the end of yusaku and ai's duel maybe the best it could have, but being completely real it's still a perfectly serviceable ending (i actually like the very VERY end of vrains more with the dub version--yusaku reiterating that he'll do whatever it takes to find his friend is SWEET and i LIKE IT) and writing off the whole dub because of it is really silly. it is not NEARLY as bad as the way some people act 😭 there's something really particular about like...the way characters talk and word things in the vrains dub that I just really like. characters joke around a lot of course but they also talk in this very This Feels Like How People Talk IRL way to me and it's so engaging. it's very believable is a way i'd put it. idk maybe it's just that I watch a lot of live action comedy shows but some vrains dub dialogue would slot in so perfectly in one of those and i love that lol ALSO THE DUB PERFORMANCES JUST RULE. DUB WINDY YOURE EVERYTHING TO ME.

OK oh my god im rambling already lmao--let's break it down in my little subsections I like to do in these posts!!

Stuff I Didn't Like: Gotta say, there isn't a Whole lot that I just straight up don't like in vrains, but also. oh my fucking god. why does this series hate women so much DFHGSYDFGY IM SORRRYYY BUT IT'S SO ROUGH. ARC-V HAD THE BAR ON THE FLOOR RE: YUGIOH GIRLS AND SOMETIMES VRAINS JUST STARTS DIGGING.INTO THE BEDROCK. vrains only has like 5 women of note in it and all of them end up experiencing some sort of horrible fate at one time or another (except Hiyami maybe???!? shes too busy wanting to fuck akira i guess) AND IT'S JUST SO..... MAN. the world if VRAINS liked aoiskye more. she's so cool and theyre constantly putting her through the most horrifying experiences imaginable for the entire run of the series. they fucking mind control virus'd her by like episode EIGHT. THEY DID THIS SHIT TO HER

AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON POOR MIYU. FUCKING INSANE THAT THE LOST INCIDENT IMPACTED SIX KIDS BUT ONLY HALF OF THEM GOT TO LIKE. ACTUALLY BE CHARACTERS. JIN FANS NEED FINANCIAL COMPENSATION. big deranged smile...it's fine.... i'll fix it myself...gripping my Windy Kid character concept/design so tight in my fist......

IT'S LIKE. vrains has SUCH cool characters and concepts but you can really feel the pacing crunch on some of them it's a dead horse at this point but this show had 120 episodes and LIKE EIGHT OF THEM ARE RECAP EPISODES. IT'S LIKE YOU CAN FEEL THE STRUGGLE THROUGH THE SCREEN.It is a goddamn MIRACLE that this show made it to air and was cohesive At All with the all the stories of production issues I keep hearing about it.

HM. what else did i actually dislike......oh right lol it's not really a Major general dislike and more me exaggerating as a bit but it's hysterical that multiple people were like "ohhh Spectre's gonna be a Danaguy" and then the second he started dueling I couldnt stand him and wanted to beat him to death with a golf club JHDFHGYUYDF SORRY TO EVERYONE HE'S JUST SO FUNNY TO RAG ON. unfortunately the way he treats skye makes my skin crawl and not even in a cool way. MY FRIEND CALLED HIM "INDUSTRY PLANT DANABAIT" AND SHE'S RIGHT. he's like baby's first yugioh weirdguy. he's a chat-gpt generated danaguy. he's a government danaguy psyop. he's We Have Yuri Arc-V At Home.hes FINE i just like him only in the hyperspecific read i have on his dynamic with revolver. Favorite Characters: im saying this with so much genuine love in my heart: it's so funny that i had like a solid half dozen people hedging their bets on either Spectre or Ryoken being the vrains guys to Do Me In and then I watched the show and instead I got the needle blown clean off the Danaguy Meter by THESE FUCKING THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW COME NONE OF THE DEAD DADS IN VRAINS MAD ME CRY NEARLY AS HARD AS FLAME THE LITTLE 🔥🤓☝ FUNNYGUY DID. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT. THIS GUMBY SHIT IS SERIOUS

sniffles. i love the Ignis a perfectly normal amount. im so enamored with their interpersonal complexities. All of their decks are crazy cool. I love their funky elemental noises they make in the sub when theyre moving, I LOVE THEIR DUB VOICES, SO SO MUCH. theyre just so fantastic. everything a goddamn ordeal in area family. bonzi buddy polycule born from traumatized six year olds and their brainwaves.. I love that I spent the entire series wondering what was gonna be the spark that sends Ai over the edge into becoming the s3 villain and the answer literally is "his whole family died and he's going mad with loneliness and grief" YEAH SURE I'LL BE FUCKING NORMAL ABOUT IT!!! WHAT THE FUCKKKKKK. THESE GUYS GONNA HAVE ME SLAMMING MY HEAD INTO THE WALL FOR MONTHS. WHEN I DESIGN SOLTIS FORMS FOR THE OTHER FIVE IT'S OVER FOR YOU GUYS

but of course even among the six of em i WILL play favorites. I have a feeling Flame and Lightning and Ai too maybe will have a delayed effect on me and will have me going insane over the summer but for now let the record show my absolute tippy top fav is MY STUPID FREAKLET ONE-EYED EAR OF CORN.

WINDY HAD ME BY THE THROAT FROM HIS DEBUT EPISODE. HE'S PLAYING DANA BINGO TO FUCKING WIN. what do you mean he talks with the insane winding cadence of a donald trump speech at 1.75x speed in the dub and nobody has noticed this before. what do you mean he got his original personality mangled and reprogrammed into a violent dangerous little freak. what do you MEAN he almost DIES and loses an eye from a computer virus. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE COMMITTED A VEHICULAR MURDER. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE COMES BACK AS A HORRIFYING GOO MONSTER JUST TO TRY AND KILL SOMEONE ONLY TO DIE HORRIBLY ONCE AND FOR ALL AND ALL OF THAT WAS LIKE THREE MINUTES IN THE MIDDLE OF AN UNRELATED EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!! ANYWAY. ANYWAY. ASIDE FROM THE MICROSOFT CLIPPY GANG vrains cast is so fuckin solid, man, it's hard for me to pick top favs from the non-goober cast. It's mega basic but I love Soulburner, I'm a sucker for fire-motif characters, he's just a sweet kid and his dynamic with Flame makes me cry my eyes out. AND I LOVE YUSAKU TOO one of my biggest fears going into vrains was that i wasnt gonna click with him as a yutag, since he isn't as Big Personalityed as guys like Jaden or Yuya, and I also was on the fence about him based on his dinks lines, but actually seeing him in show? god hes so fucking COOL. HE WAS SO BRAVE AND SO LOYAL AND SO AUTISTIC AND SO WONDERFULLY WRITTEN. you couldnt ask for a better protag with this show!!!! Or a better rival, ryokenvarisrevolverGUN does kick ass on like every level.

I also love the amount of VRAINS characters who are either A.) Just Some Guy, B.) Some Grownass Adult With a Job, or C.) Both. it's fucking awesome. Kolter and Akira and Emma are some of the realest ones alive. Shiima is so FUNNYYYYYY. and well nobody else likes him but I think Blood Shepherd is fucking hysterical and his aura is off the charts. Grownass 30something cowboy AND he's got crazy sibling drama. Don't worry Kenneth I'LL like you (also that's my dad's name, another little insane thing in the 'vrains came to me when i needed it most' jar)

ough im not even gonna bother ranking my top 5 characters in this show yet. i need to mull on it more. I WILL say special shout out to Bohman and Harlin/Hal because theyre going to make me fucking insane if I think about them anymore. AND THEY WERE EVEN YUGIOH SIBLINGS. GOOD GOD.

Favorite Season/Arc:.MOOOOMMMMMMM IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

like. it's so funny to me that the shit that happened with 5ds when i watched it (enjoyed the first season, but the second half/season made me absolutely frothing rabid dog crazy) happened AGAIN with vrains. I DONT KNOW WHY. I CANT EVEN FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS THAT MADE SEASON 1 NOT CLICK AS MUCH FOR ME!!! i liked it a lot, it's absolutely some of the best yugioh, it has one of my all time fav duels in it!!! but then. well. season 2 rolls up and just starts kicking my ass right out the gate. AND THEN SEASON 3 ALSO STARTS KICKING MY ASS. AND THEN IM DEAD ON THE FLOOR.

seriously props to this beleaguered production team, they really make those last 17 episodes BITE. .the grief IS endless and you WILL feel it. I wish the season could have been longer to really explore some of the intricacies floating around in there more, maybe do some more stuff with the other higherups at Soltec/those fucking shareholders, but man they really make the most of the hand theyve been dealt.

but yeah Season 2 is my favorite im so fucking sorry i promise im not setting out to latch onto the least enjoyed parts of a yugioh every time they just keep cramming all the danabait back here. every introduced character this season I'm hooting and hollering over. Theyre getting thick in the weeds of what it means to be alive and it rules. Windy blast. Lightning is building Jesus Christ in Garry's Mod and well I simply can't be normal about it. That stretch from ep 68 to ep 80 or so is like the most insaneo dana psyche blast in a yugioh since the Ark Cradle. The Yellow Dog Run. They Killed Earth and Crafted His Corpse Onto Gore's Brain. OH WELL OK!!!! Also the season finale made me cry so goddamn hard. bobcat (grief themes) got you.

Favorite Duel: This is actually a hard question; I always like thinking about my favorite dues in a ygo beyond just my first favorite, but with VRAINS' it starts to get tough to single out individual duels I like beyond. Two In Particular.

First up, i fucking LOVE the Playmaker vs. Akira duel in season 1. This is, gun to my head, absolutely my favorite vrains duel. The setting's cool, the monsters are cool (Tindangles one of the sickest archetypes I've ever SEEN), you get clobbered by the Lost Incident lore and Yusaku gets MAD mad and it goes hard as hell. AND THAT SHIT YUSAKU DOES. WHERE HE SPECIFICALLY LETS THE DUEL PLAY OUT LONGER THAN HE NEEDED TO JUST TO KEEP THE MONSTERS REPRESENTATIVE OF AKIRA AND SKYE'S BOND OUT OF THE GY. MAKES ME CRAZYYYYYYY thats one of the most moving things ive ever seen in a yugioh duel!!!! i dont ever wanna hear people say yusaku doesnt care about people EVER AGAIN!!!

And secondly, to absolutely nobody's surprise, the Revolver vs. Windy duel makes me start spinning around and barking and doing flips and shit. It's got EVERYTHING. Windy being a little freaklet, his crazy ass airships, Revolver rolling up in his kickass s2 fit and busting out a GODDAMN SYNCHRO SUMMON!!!! WINDY ALMOST DYING IN ONE OF THE MOST HORRIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES IVE SEEN IN A YUGIOH. WINDY AND LIGHTNING'S WEIRD GAY THING THATS MAYBE BURNING A HOLE IN MY BRAIN A LITTLE. THEY MADE THIS ONE IN A LAB TO BLOW UP MY BRAIN. it's also just a really fun duel, I love that they keep passing Magic Cylinder back and forth like a blunt. Borreload Savage Dragon also shreds harder than hell we all know but I'll say it again.

Beyond those, it's like... I genuinely really enjoy most All of the other duels in the show (except like. some of the filler duels and the times poor Skye loses -___- MOST OF THE TIME FOR NO GODDAMN REASON. her duel with bohman can stay because it does crack my skull in a little but it's on THIN FUCKING ICE!!!!) They're just really fun to watch, stuff like the Speed Duels adds an engaging new dimension to how duels unfold and tons of decks in VRAINS are just Fuckin' Cool. Runner-up duels I would maybe slot into my favorites tier include the absolutely agonizing (/pos) Kolter vs Playmaker duel, Revolver vs. Soulburner (DUEL THAT MADE ME CRY BIG AND A LOT) and uhhhh Soulburner vs Bohman........ . .. .... it's not a Good duel like. like At All. but Random Windy Event in the middle of it was so catastrophic to my ecosystem it earns my favor ❤

Other Miscellaneous VRAINS Gushing and Howling: UGH. GOD. IT'S JUST REALLY GOOD. IT'S REALLY GOOD AND IT MADE ME CRY SO MUCH MORE THAN I EVER EXPECTED IT TO. I'd always been a bit wary that VRAINS wasnt gonna do much for me in the grand scheme of yugiohs--i cant even say why??!? maybe just me being stubborn??!??! EITHER WAY. ANYWAY. it took a minute for it to really catch me in its claws but it GRABBED ME. AND DID NOT LET GO. after arc-v it is fucking crazy to see a yugioh that actually Delivers and Earns its themes and messages. EVERY TIME THE YUGIOH IS ABOUT THE BONDS WE HAVE WITH EACH OTHER I FEEL IT IN MY CHEST. BUT THIS TIME ESPECIALLY. TRULY ALL WE HAVE IS OUR LOVED ONES. EVEN WHEN THEYRE GONE, THEYRE NEVER GONE FOREVER

^i liked both the dub and sub of the last episode in equal measure but i WILL say the sub one made me cry more. the montage of all the families and friendships in this damn show got me good

I definitely think I watched the last season of VRAINS a Particularly insane way (dub first, then immediately followed by 1.8x-2x speed sub version) but honestly it was the perfect way for me to experience it and i'm not kidding--VRAINS' dub AND sub compliment each other, both bring their own little details to the table that for s3 just help paint this even more nuanced, complex picture of the Absolutely Endless Abyss of Grief and Sadness Happening in There. Should you watch yugioh this way? PROBABLY NOT. BUT ALSO IF YOU CRAZY LIKE ME GO FOR IT IT MAY DO SOMETHING TO YOU !

ouughgh also ALSO!!!! i LOVE just how true it is that duel links VRAINS world really does pick up where the show leaves off, and i cant WAIT to go back and reread vrains world events now that I know the characters and the story better. IT'S SO CRAZY COOL THAT DUEL LINKS INHERENTLY CARRIES THE TORCH OF VRAINS THEMES OF MEMORIES, HOW THEY LITERALLY CAN MAKE THE DEAD LIVE AGAIN. GUGHGH IT MAKES MY DUEL LINKS LORE SCHOLAR ASS GO BANANASSSSS

VRAINS!!!! im so so glad i watched this when i did, maybe i'm booboo the fool finding genuine comfort and solace in the funny card game children's cartoon but between this and the yuri duel links event yugioh has really been helping hold my psyche together in the wake of losing my dad. vrains is POTENT and I fucking love it. Those showrunners were apparently going through all the levels of Dante's hell trying to bring this show to life and for all their struggles the end result pops off pretty fuckin hard. I'm so excited for it to sink further into my bloodstream in the coming months. The grief may be endless but so is the love. I cannot fucking believe they had to put the Funny Roomba Robot down like a sick dog and well we just all have to be cool with it. sniff. it's fine.

I love your Yugioh VRAINS..... I love Yusaku and Kolter's friendship, I love the goofy dub sandwich vs. taco hotdog running gag, it feels just SO 'stupid unfunny bit two friends would take to the grave' and it's perfect. I love Ryoken's absolutely hilarious character trait that he keeps running fucking boomer traps that havent been relevant since 2006. I love his deck full of the fucking ugliest dragons I've ever seen in my life. slash POS. I love the Gore, everything about him, what if the Rock played a fuckign trading card game--it's fucked up what happened to him in s2 but i DO admit 'they stitched a dead Ignis into his brain chip' Makes Me a Little Sick in the Head, SO. YOU WIN THIS ROUND YUGIOH. I LOVE GOUKIS. I LOVE DINOWRESTLERS. I LOVE STORMRIDERS. I love love LOVE how absolutely raw as hell extra deck summons go in this series, ESPECIALLY the legacy mechanics--Synchro and Xyz summons in this hype me the FUCK up!!! I love how ridiculously cartoonishly evil Soltec is, I wish we got to see them more as an antagonistic force. At least got Queen tho. RIP Magnum Cuntquake i wont forget you.

I love Ai and Yusaku's dynamic, I love that Ai just Says Shit and yusaku doesnt say a goddamn thing. Ai might be my favorite 'yutag duel partner' character, thinking about it.... what can i say i love a character who's nonstop annoying AND sad :,) I love all the different flavors of Yugioh Siblings we get in this one, with halfsiblings and stepsiblings and 'regular' siblings and more--I like them all!!! I love that technically like half the action in this show takes place inside a hot dog food truck. I love the data storms, fuck it, ride the cyberspace tornado and pull a duel monster out of it NOW!!!! I love Ryoken's stupid yacht that becomes a key location in season 2. I love the Harlin vs Blue Maiden duel episode for just completely smashing my kneecaps in with this fucked up and miserable AI 'family.' I love Flame's insistence on sharing the meaning of his name literally every possible opportunity he can get. I love all the different ways characters announce that they're creating their circuit when link summoning. I love the back half of the Yusaku vs. Bohman duel, when Flame tells Ai the Ignis will live on in his heart and Darkfluid gets summoned and me well I'm just a puddle of tears on the floor.

tbh, my mission is usually just to make it to the final session, which i think ive achieved every game except two (one of which my soulmate and i purposefully killed ourselves at the end of the second to last session bc we were gonna be busy the final session—honestly, we actually had a good shot at winning that one if we hadn’t taken ourselves out, probs the best shot i’ve ever had).

with life games… i do have a lot of thoughts on how i play this character and a fair amount of lore about him just bc there are SO many games. i will try and be. brief and on topic tho,

the character i play varies a bit every game i play, but my life series character in my head is always the same guy w all his memories. the way he Feels about each game and his role in it is always different, changing gradually with every game

that said, generally speaking… i ran the first ever life game i played, but had a friend do the admin controls for it. we were playing last life, but the datapack didn’t randomize boogeyman, so someone had to do it manually and it couldn’t be a player. my stand-in admin did not play, they just spectated. they called themself god for the game. they had permission to interfere if they wanted with gifts and stuff so long as it wasn’t game breaking. shortly before the start of the game, they told all the players that if anyone killed me on an altar to them, they’d get an extra life (this already reflected the fact most of the players were very excited to kill me specifically 😭 i am god’s favorite clown)

so. my life series character started his first-ever game knowing he was doomed by god, and that has not ever left him. he always considers himself doomed from the start. he knows he will lose, and he isn’t trying to win. he just wants to survive as long as he can before the end comes for him

Polartale is a silly little au that takes place apon a remote island somewhere in the arctic rather than underground!(original, I know.)

The story of the au contain themes that were inspired by aus like Horrortale, underfell, a teensy bit of...Other things.. So it contains certain topics such as implied and displayed (maybe, depending on the thing) starvation, psychosis,among other things, but only time will tell I suppose! ;)

Once apon a time, HUMANS and MONSTERS lived together in harmony.

But over time, HUMANS began to grow untrusting of the ever so "deceivingly" kind MONSTERS.

As did the MONSTERS grow untrusting of the ever so "greedy" HUMANS.

Tensions between the two soon reached a breaking point

And one day..

A war broke out between the two races

Fast forwarding to the wars end.

The MONSTERS were defeated. And the HUMANS forced them onto an island. Those who refused? Were killed without question.

The HUMANS then put a magical barrier over the island, only breakable through the power of the 7 traits of SOUL that set the barrier in the first place.

And with that. MONSTERKIND was left to be forgotten by the world..now only reduced to mere rumors and bedtime stories. A vivid picture only to be used to scare children and make them feel bad when compared to.

On the MONSTERS side of things, the isle they were subjected to wasnt exactly...preferable, so to speak.proper food was scarce, MONSTERS were dying from the cold, sicknesses that they didn't even think they could get,ect etc. And over time, dispite royal family's best efforts to keep everyone together. They grew cold to one another, distrust in the air like the icy winds of their cold prison. But even with this distrust for one another, they built villages, towns, cities even, all crawling with distrust and selfishness at every corner. And the island had food shortages regularly. Many monsters forced to starve due to being unable to do anything for themselves. And those who helped them were often taken advantage of for showing to the now rare kindness they were once known for all those years ago..

ahh this billion dollar question isn’t it. i feel like this is the top 1 most discussed thing on this app for years, i have read every side of it.

to give #my opinion, im gonna go with yes. but its far more complicated, like most things are with naruto lol. i believe sasuke is right because he sees there’s a flaw in the existing system around him and to finally do something about it the only way to do that it’s to get ride of the system from the root.

now, as much as i agree with sasuke there i don’t agree with the way he tries to do that revolution. i dont mean this in a “oh violence wont be fixed with more violence” bs. i mean this because where sasuke’s goals are born for and how they affect his plans.

when sasuke finishes listening to the kages and it’s coming up with his thoughts, he immediately is bombarded by memories of itachi (itachi only, not his clan) and itachi’s words to him. when he states he will not let the village be destroyed he does it by adding “itachi’s will”. when sasuke is dying in the war arc his only thoughts again are that he doesn’t want to waste what itachi wanted to die. this shows us very clearly that sasuke’s revolution is very influenced by itachi’ wants. a little different, sure but still the same. which makes sense why his goal at vote2 is destroy the last person he loves and bear the hatred of everyone so the villages can have peace between them as long as they focus all on him. and this is quite what itachi did, just on a bigger scale. naruto = uchiha clan. the villages = konoha. sasuke = itachi.

^this is where many people complain that kishimoto had to turn sasuke ooc to make him evil and i can see what they mean but personally i dont view it as such when i look at what sasuke’s arc has always been. i have seen also that they dislike that post reveal sasuke’s character seems to be focus on itachi more than in his clan like in part 1 which i also disagree. itachi has been sasuke’s main influence in his character since day one. even in part 1, sasuke’s hate towards itachi isn’t just because he killed his clan, kishimoto focuses alot in showing itachi and sasuke having a loving relationship. kishimoto is very specific that sasuke’s biggest grief at the end of the day is not the massacre alone but the fact it was itachi who committed it. this is essentially what sets sasuke aside of other characters that lost their family/clans/parents etc. its not only what he lost but by who’s hands he lost it. so his focus has always been in itachi. so i dont think it was only part 2 that sasuke became more driven by itachi than anything else… anyways going back to the topic because im going off the rails (sorry).

sasuke has always had itachi first imo. and sasuke has always been defined by love too so ofc he’s gonna forgive the person he loves even if he doesn’t deserve it, ofc he’s gonna try to achieve that peace his brother “sacrificed” his life for (even if thru different means that he wanted you to). but while i understand and love sasuke’s character, i still think these are all very personal reasons for his revolution plans and thus why it fails.

his revolution plans are also self destructive but he doesn’t care because he still views it as his ultimate duty (again why he was so distraught when he was about to die without doing anything). he wants to become the bearer of all evil, and pain and hatred and wants to be all alone, even tho that is something that has caused alot of his pain in the past, he even talks about possible immortality and its just, well sad. you can tell hes about to sell his own doom because he thinks thats what he has to do to fix everything. he is ready to become a martyr. and forgive me but i view as that as a very tragic

so while i will always view him as being in the right, because when you put him in comparasion to most characters that doesnt realize whats wrong w the shinobi world, he will always come as one of the few that actually isn’t blind (even if its framed as bad for pointing that the system needs to be destroyed), i still dont think his plans are the right ones

i’ll explain papaya rules for you!!

okay so after oscar’s over take (and im pretty sure after mclaren’s first pit stop) lando’s race engineer comes on the radio and says

“you are allowed to race oscar, papayas rules”

so everyone was kinda confused because no one knows what said “papaya rules” are. so anyway after the race during the press conference, lando gets asked what papaya rules are and if he thought oscar’s overtake fit into those rules. lando basically said that the papaya rules are that they are free to race, but do not make contact. lando thought oscar’s overtake did fit into the rules but could’ve ended badly if he had braked later. zak brown was also asked about it after the race about what papaya rules meant and basically said the same thing that lando said!! but he said they would have to rewatch oscar’s overtake to make sure it applied by the “papaya rules”.

but then everyone (mostly lando fans) started getting mad at oscar and mclaren for allowing oscar to overtake and for them to race. they think that they should’ve swapped the cars on the last lap to allow lando to close the gap to max in the drivers championship a little more.

another thing, in the post-race press conference lando got asked if he needed help to win the championship and he said that he did have help and that his teammate was indeed helping him. he also said that he didn’t want to win the championship by begging for track position over his teammate. he said it was something the team would have to implement race by race. and oscar had nothing to add to that.

i hope this explained it and i probably added wayyyy to much details!! but it’s very interesting to me as a die hard oscar fan, to see everyone hating on him for racing and not giving the position to lando, even though the team said nothing about giving it up. but ill let you have your own opinion on the situation <3

Gonna tread lightly and be careful with this one, I generally do so when discussing my asexuality specifically, it's a dodgy topic.

I already mentioned how suprised I was by my overall mental shift. I've already kinda adapted to a new name and she/her without actually using them, Im just really good at daydreaming. This has been part of a wider mental shift I've been noticing towards feeling alot more fem.

Around when I first cracked, I suspected that I wasn't actually aro, and my romantic feelings were just heavily repressed because I couldn't imagine myself in a relationship as a guy.

The more time passed, the more I started getting more confident in that theory. If I were a girl, I would strongly desire a romantic relationship. I was still sure of the ace part.

But then, something weird happened the other day, and, to put it bluntly, I think I felt attraction for the first time? Like, I was looking at a woman with some nice muscles and, idk. Just got this weird feeling, felt a little whoozy and light headed. idk if it's like that every time people feel attraction, maybe it was just that case or just the first time?

There's more detail I would be tempted to add, but I don't think its a good idea, I'm gonna keep it safe. I'm not 100% sure what kind of attraction it was, but I'm actually kinda leaning towards sexual. So, idk, am I still ace then??? Maybe these feelings will get stronger over time. Apparently HRT can act as a complete sexuality reroll anyway so I shouldn't stress too much. Just taken aback by the fact that I actually finally know what this whole attraction thing feels like.

Talking about everything I like of TRTF2

hiiiiii did you miss me....... no.. ok...

I had fun making the post about everything I love about TRTF1, and so i thought hey. what if i like . did this with the other games. this is totally not because im very uncreative and i spilled most of my emotion and passion about vincent. perish the thought.

Admittedly, I don't necessarily have the same kind of emotional ties to TRTF2 as I do classic; but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna try to say what I like. Even if it's shorter, you will not see a single backhanded compliment in this post. I promise. as always this will be disjointed as hell as its more of a stream of conscious than anything actually well written. sorgy

Anyway, let's start.

Right away, I wanna say that I find the buildup to this game fascinating. Setting aside how it was originally gonna be a kind of 2.5d fnaf fangame with a mix of 3d environments and photoshop-style assets, which I find REALLY COOL and would love to see more of; For a lot of the development, it seemed to really be building up Golden Freddy as its antagonist, hell the location is literally known as fredbear's family diner! It's all these kind of things that are just... very very intriguing to me. I really hope someday there's some kind of fangame that expands on this enigma of an earlier version of the game because MAAAAAAN i'm so curious about it.

By the way I really like this early office but it really looks like it's part of an indoor pool. This doesnt mean anything i just thought id point it out. anyway real game time!

Sooooooo, the models. These are kinda one of the most infamous parts of this game. They're honestly not that bad tbh. Like, yeah, they aren't masterpieces but for a very new modeller, they look pretty ok. I also like freddy's design, I think it's better than trtf4's freddy, and this is a hill I am ABSOLUTELY willing to live and die on.

I also like the office! I know it''s a small thing to compliment but I think it just kinda looks nice. Honestly, all of TRTF2's offices throughout development I like for different reasons (First alpha's is charming and the trailer build's office honestly looks pretty creepy), and this one is no different. It's just kinda pleasing on the eyes.

Also dug. I love him.

On the topic of renders, actually, I think this one of Chica is quite good and captures her pretty well. The head tilting, the thousand yard stare, and the wide open mouth.... Like damn this honestly looks pretty cool thats a good bird

Oh how could i forget!!! shadow lockjaw's in this game too!! There's a reason why i really like shadow lockjaw, but I'll hold off on it for now as it's better suited for TRTF3. Keep in mind though, i just really really like him cause shadow animatronics are COOL

Admittedly, I'm already kind of out of things to say about this game. It's not that I hate TRTF2 of course, I wouldn't be making a post like this about it if I didn't. I just don't necessarily have much to say about it compared to TRTF1. 3's will likely be way longer, but I at least will say the main reason why I kinda like this game. (Minus the major update stuff, that deserves its own post)

TRTF2, its final version, I like because it's part of a very niche genre of fnaf that I nonetheless enjoy. By this, I mean it's a game with the fnaf cast but also with its own little bunch of weirdos inside it (see also: The last night at freddy's and fazbear's return 2). You can clearly tell who's official and who isn't but like... man idk... i think its kinda cool... i think its fun to have a sort of mishmash of official and unofficial stuff...

Alright guys, so there are three topics that ive reflected on lately and I think deserve their own posts: Sex, money and permanence. All of them independent from each other obviously. I feel like I owe you a little recap of the last month. We left off at me leaving my Aunt's in somewhat relief. I had a blast with my childhood best friend, I went to visit cute places then came back home in absolute relief. I did text GG blond over the holidays but I didnt once I got back in the city. he did.

This was unexpected but also everything made sense. He had posted a story saying he's now going to only date ugly men who treat him kindly and the proceeded to text me two days after, making conversation and ultimately inviting me out for climbing. Here's how I feel about it: Just in the same way I would hate to "settle" for someone I dont feel as attracted to, I feel like I dont deserve to be the "ugly man that treats him nicely". I am no greek model but I would say im pretty good looking and I don't deserve to be seen or treated this way. And I think certain situations that I will grasp upon in the sex post have helped me realise how worthy I am of finding someone that likes me and I feel the same about them. Its all about timing and place.

Anyways, anyhow, he asked me to go climbing and I asked to reschedule for the following day since I had finals. we went climbing as a group, my friends were also there, oh dont forget to mention he hugged me when he saw me. we climbed as a group calmly, I was catching a cold at this moment so I was super weak but I managed to stay alive through his hour sesh (I stayed for two hours) and when he was leaving he said "I think im gonna go" to which I answered "alright" and he did not seem to happy about my answer, even debating me with a "hmm?", idk what he expects from me. Did he wanted me to offer dinner with him?

I told popular trio girl everything about gg blond for the first time and she actually thinks im not insane, I thought she was gonna be very judgmental.

I had to handle my exams, an awful cold and living alone at the same time, all I could feel was defeat when performing poor exams over the week, but im trying my best, specially since mom wants me to get a job urgently and I had to handle that too. I did not feel too stressed, and it shows since I havent shown many physical signs of stress (just my typical rash in hands and feet(the feet rash is new(new as in this summer))). Just a constant feeling of defeat, its okay, I can re take them in June, it won't affect me.

I went out on Saturday too and many things went down:

We didnt invite the part of the friend group that 1. wouldn't have like coming 2. wouldn't ave come because we had an exam left. Snowwhite didnt really liked me posting without blocking them but honestly I couldn't cares less if they see or not because I know did nothing wrong

I made out with no one and honestly whilst It sort of took a toll on my ego it ultimately didn't affect me after I left the club, I had a blast with my friends and thats all that matters.

It was a very healthy night out, I drank in moderation and no bad things went down, we just went out, had fun and had little moments

I took a bunch of photos with and of strangers because bad bunny said it "I shouldve taken more pictures

Oh right and, after I left my childhood friend sent me a voice note telling me how even though she loved me and had a great time and all sometimes she fell a little uncomfortable by some joke me and her sister made which valid ofc, but also that she felt like im very pushy in discussions and always try to be right. This is something I have been working on on ever since, and something I keep in mind. This is something I dont want to keep doing.

Podfeels Adapt8ion Notes: Episode 2

hello! dare again, and i know that last time i said we'd be releasing these gradually in "the coming days", but, well, life happens. specifically, life happened to where i was unable to write these notes at all. as such, i passed the duty on to another dedicated member of the team. im gonna let them take over from here, and god Damn she was so much more thorough than i wouldve been, but whenever theres a place where my input is needed, ill pipe in with purple text like this! now to get to the real shit:

hey it's luna stagelights here for some adaptational notes for podfeels. i'm only really here to talk about script differences, i can't exactly speak for art and sound design because i wasn't involved in that part of the process. ill pitch in with sound design when necessary, but art was mostly covered in the general S1 post we had the first time.

so episode 2 is interesting from an adaptational standpoint because it was the first episode we had to do basically entirely on our own. for episode 1 we had sarah’s changes already, and the decisions she made from there served as as a sort of guideline for what we’re doing from now on, although as time went on we found our own sort of groove for this sort of thing, and we’re not super tied down to the way sarah did it as much i think.

on the topic of the actual changes though: chapter 1 of godfeels 2 part 1 begins with a flashback to pages 5283-5288 of homestuck, with John and Jade watching Con Air, with John declaring that “this movie fucking sucks!”. the episode begins a bit before that, with some noise from the movie itself, specifically audio synced to the footage on screen in the original comic. this change isn't really that major in the long run though, mostly just adding detail to help sell the scene better.

left is the original, right is what got put in the episode. there are a few inconsistencies between what i show here and the scriptlog shown in the episode , but i re-edited the doc to match what you hear in the actual episode.

lot of narration cut and replaced with sound. this is going to be EXTREMELY commonplace as we go forward. 

ok so this line wasn’t actually changed but I do distinctly remember there being some discussion about this, as john says “w8ke up” like “waitk up” here, which i thought felt awkward, however we came to the agreement that john is the kind of dork ass nerd who would say typing quirks like this aloud. but this does actually bring up an issue we’ll see a lot later on, and that is “how the fuck do you vocalize typing quirks”, especially with the inordinate number of gags that rely on presence of a typing quirk. the answer we’ve come to seems to be “on a case by case basis”, but usually characters don’t talk as if their typing quirks are a factor unless theres a good reason.

more lines changed from “texted” to “called” to reflect the change done from texts to calls as it’s an audio format, in line with sarah’s adaptations in episode 1.

“delete that message” was replaced with “forget i said that”, because it’s a call and that wouldn’t make sense.

another minor adaptational hurdle was dealing with emoticons in text. it’s another case by case thing, sometimes it can be just a little sound, sometimes if theres an emoticon at the end of a line we can just remove it and factor it into the delivery of the line, but with lines like this we just simply added terezi doing a little laugh to convey a similar emotion to the emoticon.

the “whoops shit” was added along with a sound of rose snoring, evoking the effect of being too loud on the phone while a friend is asleep, to reflect that it’s a call

the >:x is represented by terezi making a little ‘zzzp’ sound.

this is another answer to the emoticon problem, sometimes you just add a line there instead. 

text does a fun thing with color here, but we couldn’t do anything about that. I think there was discussion about having the va’s for the character who’s colors are represented in the text saying the line, but there was no way to get that to sound even remotely good so we just left the line as is. sometimes when adapting shit things like this will just have to be cut.

oh now THIS is a fun bit.

dare mentioned the talkpogs in the adaptation notes for episode 1, i can’t exactly go too into that part myself because it’s not my wheelhouse, but there is an INCREDIBLY fun bit in the youtube version of this, where terezi does her trademark scribbles on her own talkpog, just for the bit. in the audio-only versions, this bit is missing, and the scribble sound effect as she scribbles on her talkpog are also absent, because they’re a part of a joke that’s simply not there. the bit is still *kind of* there in the audio only version because in both versions terezi clears her throat. its also the first place where the talkpog coloration rules are demonstrated! in our talkpogs, the inner circle is their name color, and the outer ring is their text color. so when she draws on the hey dweebkid this you face, her outer ring shifts to john's text color!

another minor change, just having it be a more natural end to the phone call by adding some words.

after the call we added a new bit of dialogue here, as a way to more naturally transition between chapters, as this episode covers 2 chapters of the original fic. as time goes on and chapters get longer though, covering multiple chapters in a single episode becomes less feasible, often leaning towards us having some later chapters being planned to be multiple episodes.

the rest of the episode is basically entirely made up of narration, and there were actually no adaptational changes made in the narration! 

but there is one last moment. the text originally ends with a section break and then a text of vriska saying “there you are”, and for this episode we simulated that paragraph break by leaving in a bit of silence as if we’re going to cut to credits, before having vriska show up. in the video version, we also had that texton top of 7 dots, reminiscent of vriska’s spidery left eye (or the pokemon registeel, if you’re like me and for some reason that was where your mind wandered to first)

Oh yeah, everything is also gonna hafta be built up from the ground. Neptune has done enough to cause irreplaceable damages to systematic corrosion/corruption. Saturn compiling on trying to “set the record straight” with Pisces and ultimately falling short too of that. Due to 29° being where Neptune is, the Arean heart of fire can be felt hammering from beyond, so it makes sense why everyone is so fucking scared to show who they truly are. Because either way, whatever you like, it’s gonna be scrutinized. War is scrutiny anyways on such a large level. So why not put on the helmet and scream FUCK IT, let’s do it!

Bad faith perspectives and bad actors are gonna primarily get the brunt of that flame (those that own up to their bad faith and change are gonna have saintlike qualities. But have the level headedness of a modern layperson. Humility.) One of the prime examples I’m channeling? Dr Disrespect in all actuality. He recognized he screwed up! We’re so quick to fall into seeing the words “p-phile” and so n’ so forth that we lose sight of their acknowledgement of their horrible mistakes.

The color red is prominent of course. So wearing/branding with red colors during these next 14 years is gonna be peak. Bold contrast too. Indie/VSCO was prominent with Pisces in Bold colors. Aries in Bold colors is more Brutalist-like/Korn/Mudvayne.

In terms of aesthetics with Pluto in Aqua combined with Neptune in Aries, im getting Tony Hawk pro-skater on the Xbox. Not to mention jackass and post-grunge revival. Creed even?

Another thing about the cusp between both "paradigms" is that with the current retrograde going on (and with saturn/neptune only being ten degrees apart of each other), its much akin to a small reprave in energies. Its letting up a little just to allow some space to breathe before another 'big crunch'.

A few of my friends irl suggest that these are akin to 'labor pains' in childbirth. Those contractions getting shorter and shorter apart in time length. If there's anything I can link between that to this by way of the planetary movements, this is more of a quicker effect of Pluto's energies. If Pluto is already at the beginning degrees of Aquarius, then this transit also enhances those 'contractions' into a new astrological (and societal) dynamic.

These labor similarities are exquisitely funny. I just heard, "you certainly can't slow down now; stop clenching and start pushing; spread your feet apart so the head can get through".

On point of that last sentence, Pisces rules the feet while Aries rules the head. So if there's one thing, we're gonna be charging forth reaaaaaalllllll soon. I'm also interested in seeing what continues with the internet. I still sense something related to a return/transformation to the old web in a sense. FOR AI BTW: (which on a small tangent: I asked IF the AI bubble will pop, the sun came through -- HARD YES -- then I pulled two more (for how it'll turn out) and evidently shuffled to get the seven of cups added with five of pentacles not that long after -- evidently, the ai bubble is gonna leave tech bros broke as fuck whining for money (and these only apply to money hungry corpos btw, in terms of people I have a gut feeling that if regular joe peeps (or rich peeps willing to be legitimately generous to the masses) made ai, everything is gonna be for the most part chill), so after the bubble pops, expect more scams/distrust with big tech to come through like crazy. On what courses of action will lead to the pop, we have ace of wands reversed, two of pentacles reversed and page of swords -- first thing to come to mind is a bunch of mismanagement on both the innovative field and creative field. Not to mention the financial turnout is also gonna be affected big time. Page of swords does suggest people that aren't initially viable to the field will be the proprietors in this. But I have a feeling that with time they'll master the craft better and AI will ultimately be properly regulated under a small, small fraction of government that doesn't have total control neither. I know, big stretch but I have faith.)

But back on topic for web 3.0, there's talks (and promises?) that Patreon of all things will ultimately lead to this new branch of internet.

And if there's anything I'd know, is that Neptune is the internet's dominant planet from my calculations back in my data post on the internet's astrology. So once Neptune goes into Aries, expect how Aries naturally exists to be the main way people interact on the internet. Emotionally? Direct and honest. Speech? Quick and candid. Action style? Strong and assertive. But is passive aggressiveness tied to this? Yes, but it's gonna be looked at in a way where it embodies 'bro wtf are you yapping about?' because Aries knows when someone is delulu. It points it out and cusses you out. Thought the internet rage was bad before? NOW it has PURPOSE. Yet, I see same can't be said for the opposite. What is gonna be hard is distinguishing if that person really has a full reason to be angry. So now receipts are gonna be pulled on people who are always pissy. It'll instead be "bro you're more caring about THIS. why are you so focused on THIS?" and not "you're x, y, z???? FUCK YOU."

Now with Neptune ruling the arts and entertainment, and Aries being indie-pendant ..... ifyoucaughtmydriftimproudofyouhaha-- but YEAH, more from 'ground-up' groups might be the way to go. Decentralized (Pluto in Aqua) systems, establishments and groups in the arts will be commonplace if not fully accepted into the work force as a viable career. It'll continue to fight for itself, and I have no doubt it'll be recognized in the future, but good lord y'all. It'll be pretty sweet to see something like that. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES Y'ALL

Let your creativity shine people. After all the sun is exalted in Aries. anyways ive been listening to the cc(r) ost while studying (around up to right before nibelheim because i want to make a flower wagon for my beautiful queen Aerith (i dont get the hate? madame M calling her homely like WHO's homley? wait lmfaoo off topic but why was cloud whimpering and moaning during the scene i had to take my headphones off cause i couldnt take it anymore...)) i should start a medium account and write like those pretentious tech bros that say things like "college is for LOSERS!" (ur going to a top school for cs?) (i didn't really like that guy cause he was lowkey weird too) but i think it'd be really funny. lowkey i forgot where i was going with this because the parenthesis reminded me of the chain rule which reminded me of that guy but anyways back to the main point...

I usually listen to game osts when studying (lie im listening to deftones right now) but the track "True Motives" (ill link it somewhere here) when genesis and angeal beat up sephiroth lowkey got me thinking during calc practice... like theres three instruments (piano cello violin) and its got a call and response format but its like all three are doing that (i told you i havent touched anything music related in a long while LOL sorry if the terminology is wrong). in the cutscene we start out with sephiroth with the violin and then like half a second later we get the piano take the upper with the cello playing the secondary melody? but the violin immediately kicks in... TBH i wonder then since im assuming sephiroth is the in between since hes "still around"—i dunno what happened to angeal—im at the point where ive killed the angeal creature but zach mentions him being possibly around and im assuming genesis is a total goner cause hes not around for anything else afaik (or he might im not that well versed in ffvii canon) and angeal reminded me a little too much of sonon so im gonna assume hes dead. as we know violin = treble cello = bass piano = both so i guess genesis = violin and angeal = cello just cause they seem like that to me. right when sephiroth pushes angeal back and genesis is about to go crazy the piano and violin lowkey come in and cello is just playing the bass notes for tha chords and the last half is lowkey just piano and violin plus a little cello right before angeal tries to stop genesis and gets thrown off into the junon sea or whatever u call it (i lost the submarine mini game in vii and i had to look up help and every tutorial was like " youre a total IDIOT if you failed this..."). maybe this is a whole lot of nothing and im just mkaing things up.

And this is highkey spoilers for like the 'endgame' of this but I'm never gonna make an actual plot sooo (plus I need to explain this before I sound insane)

The inspiration is like Elysian Fields (bit obsessed w this recently, I drew a jipunk piece abt this too) and ITS ALL CAUSE OF CHOSOS NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE IN THE MANGA AND WE'RE ALL FREAKING OUT ABT IT

But yes he wakes up in an unfamiliar field in an unfamiliar place but he's strangely calm about it (dunno why he is but I'll get back to thinking abt it later) but he spots this house in the distance and naturally he goes to it

And so he would meet haruko who's a little strange because she has no last name and isn't bothered by the fact that one. She lives in the middle of absolutely nowhere, and two. That he just shows up

She's even like "oh I haven't had visitors in a long while ☺️"

Aaannnd then cue a slow burn slice of life romance im gonna force them to have bc ASHBBENBKKKRMENJ SLOWBURN AGAGG cause there's no way someone like him is falling at first sight (imo anyways)

(Just a fun fact I fell asleep after writing this part and then woke up again HAHDHS it was 2 am.)

But yeah the situation is literally just the forced proximity trope where it's "oh I have to live with this stranger while I try to understand wtf is going but oh no I appear to have slowly fallen in love"
