This is a pet peeve of mine that I think others can relate to as well.

Can y'all, using AO3, stop tagging so many characters/tagging relationships in your stories that aren't even in there or haven't been introduced in your story yet?

You can edit your work description later and add them in when you do introduce it (the character or relationship). But when you know you aren't going to add them in sometime soon or later. It's best not to add them in. Just out of niceness and not accidentally cluttering the tag with your work that shouldn't be in there to begin with especially if the characters/relationships aren't in the story yet.

For example, with my work, I know I have some fics that haven't introduced the characters yet (COUGH COUGH MY BAZZ X READER FIC) however, the story is about that character/relationship. So it makes sense for that character and relationship to be in the tags.

Her gift is Altered sight, as in she sees the world differently. Like she can see if people are lying or their true intention. So that's why when Renee was talking abt ditching Ashley she said shut the fuck up because she saw her true intention (whatever it was anyways).

mr and mrs graves loved how quiet [reader] was as a child. she didn't make any noise, didn't talk at all, and was overall easy to overlook. the perfect child! why not have another? when andy came out the cursed womb, he was the same and probably learned to keep quiet too via [reader], his big sister. what's the harm in one more child? mrs graves would then learn the harm in having another child that is NOT quiet. leyley came in and couldn't be as quiet or put away as her older siblings, but thankfully this isn't [reader]'s first rodeo in taking care of a child... she's not good at it though (which makes sense cause she's fucking four years old)

andy and leyley are still very close together, especially leyley to andy since she's closer to andy's age (and goes to school with him longer) than [reader], but they both look up to [reader] as a mother figure. leyley had trouble dealing with [reader]'s quietness/muteness but her patience for leyley makes up for all the frustration she goes through. she definitely expects [reader] to pay more attention to her because she's the baby of the family, their little baby sister. how is she supposed to know shit if no one is there to teach her? how is she supposed to feel safe if no one is watching her? damn, she fucked up breakfast again even though andy taught her how not even a day ago, thankfully [reader] is there to make it for them, right? andy doesn't mind [reader]'s quietness. he's so used to leyley's loud and impulsive nature that having someone who's quieter and more mindful is appreciated. especially since she's older, andy sees her as the perfect role model to look up to.

i doubt the apartment they lived in had a yard but they do have a balcony, so i think [reader] would grow herbs and plants that can grow in pots (like strawberries and tomato plants). andy and leyley would pick up some things from watching [reader] take care of them (though they might've killed a plant once from forgetting to water it). [reader] would try her best to teach andy and leyley about taking care of the plants, what they're used for, how to prepare them into meals, etc and it would give them (specifically andy) such an oedipus complex. having [reader] comfort them when they're mad, staying patient and calm when they get frustrated and yell at her, hugging them when they're sad, UGH just being such a good mother figure and a big sister. andy loves hugging her, feeling safe in her arms. THEY WOULD BOTH LOVE HEARING HER HUMMING WHEN SHE DOES STUFF AROUND THE HOUSE

as they grow up, they both get very protective over [reader]. she can't date other people! it's a tad bit hard to enforce that since [reader] is two-four years older and usually aren't attending the same school as them for very long. they usually try to make it as CLEAR as possible to her current partner that they do not like them. andrew is very passive aggressive towards them while ashley is just... aggressive. [reader] gets mad at them the first and second time, enough for andrew and ashley to feel a little bit bad, but eventually [reader] just stops trying to date people (or at least bring them over to the apartment). she can't be too mad at them, they're probably a little bit scared to share their big sister with a stranger...

quarantine isn't so bad to them. [reader]'s little balcony garden helps them not starve for a little bit longer than canon, but not by much. andrew and ashley are both grateful to [reader] for trying to keep them all alive, but it's not a burden that she has to shoulder on her own. seeing the cultist, killing the wardens, escaping the apartment-- all very stressful things that they help [reader] through. andrew sleeps with [reader] some nights and holds her close. maybe even snuggling closer to her chest... after all, [reader] holds some power over him, no? she's older, if she is uncomfortable with it then she can just tell him to stop. he likes being the middle child. having the power and control over ashley but being watched over and taught by [reader], having both that dominate and submissive dynamic with his sisters. would definitely call [reader] mommy after they kill their parents

i find it kinda funny that the demon gives ashley a clairvoyant trinket and [reader] altered sight but doesn't give andrew anything. poor guy. i think [reader]'s true sight would honestly alter the dynamic of the graves' sibling relationship. if she can see the true intentions of people/seeing if they're lying than surely she would be able to tell when andrew is holding himself back and repressing his affection or can see ashley's overwhelming insecurity. would she play into these feelings? anyway, andrew and their parents were shocked when [reader] actually spoke when in the basement, especially when it was against mrs graves? like omg... boss moves, you know?

This is very self indulgent, but all of my art is self indulgent sooo.

I’m pretty sure if you were born in the 2000s you’re almost guaranteed to have some strange fascination or obsession with zombies. I do. I very much love zombies I wish I was more creative in drawing zombies. Anyway these actually supposed to be on the same page but there was dead space so I cut it up. The real thing below the cut.

I listed to Echoisweird for the first time in YEARS while I drew this (I always think of her when I see kool-aid) and it was STRANGE. I remember I loved her sketchbook tours when I was younger, she’s probably why I love scene-core art, which is funny because she brings up Jhonen Vasquez a lot as an inspiration for her so it’s kinda like I was inspired by him before I even knew he existed (I didn’t get to watch Invader Zim as a kid because my parents didn’t pay for cable, though I’d probably have loved it). Fun fact about me that’s relatively related, I LOVED the Zombie Island Poptropica level but I never finished it and now it doesn’t exist and it makes me sad.

I used this as a destressor because when I got home from rehearsal today I felt like I was dying. I’m definitely procrastinating on that essay I have to write but personally it makes me want to die thinking about it because it’s such a big weight on my mind especially since I’m sure I don’t actually have the time for it. (I’d have more time if I didn’t draw as much but personally I enjoy having a life) thank you for coming to my Ted talk, enjoy your day and stuff idk haha

I’ve been wanting to rant about this scene for a whiiiile chat. So here goes. This is from chapter 85. I’m a Loki simp so I just gotta.

I cannot get over the adorable art style change here!! He just looks so cute and playful. Yes, he’s always playful and laid back, but with Hilde, he just seems more…. Genuine. Like this is him actually trying to be friendly and make her smile. He often smiles maliciously when being snide or passive aggressive with Odin, especially when poking fun at him. Here, his smile just looks so much different. He looks pretty different from the start of the series, but it’s a very pleasant change. He still got those hips plus those amazing arms.

Hilde looks so pretty in that panel. Like my girl is just so gorgeous. I also love how Loki seems to want to actually help her. Gotta love his goofy poses.

Loki looks more sly here like he’s planning on doing more than just saving her. He just looks so smug, he thinks he’s convincing her. I just love when he floats around. He looks so cute and hot at the same time. THOSE HIIIIIIIPS THAT BACK CUUUURVE.

I’m still not quite sure how to interpret his little jig here lmao. Like Loki baby what’re you doing there??? It’s interesting how he claims to be better at convincing Odin than most, then asks her for a special favor.

I’m not surprised she interpreted this as being a transaction. He did certainly insinuate something, but given his reaction, he wasn’t trying to get her to hand over her body. His reaction is kind of adorable. He looks so flustered like “what did you just say-“ Possible Loki respecting women? Not confirmed really, given the whole doll thi-

Hilde my beloved. Straight up doesn’t care if she dies, since she knows that’s how Ragnarok works. Loki just looks so frustrated.

Here we get a glimpse of how petty Loki really is. He knew Siegfried is a sensitive spot for Hilde, he knew saying that would piss her off, that’s why he did it. In the exact moment she refused, he panicked and just reacted with pettiness to try and convince her to go along with his plan to save her. This shows us he really isn’t that mature. While he’s extremely intelligent and cunning, very sharp witted and analytical, he’s just immature in the long run. Loki deep down is petty and cunning in ways that gets people to do what he wants. Lemme remind y’all of season two of the anime when he’s fighting Buddha, Kondou, Sasaki, and Okita.

This scene also perplexes me. He’s seems excited to learn about this, but probably because he’s planning something malicious. He knows Siegfried is her lover, and he’s filing that away for evil plans to get at her, maybe even to try and kill Siegfried. If he takes out her lover, he might think she feels all alone and will be more inclined to go to him for help. The art here is just amazing too. That panel of him looking stunned mid smile is mwahhh.

Once again. Her LIIIPS. MWAHS. she looks amazing as ever. Her cold response is expected. She sees Loki as the enemy given he’s a god who’s against saving humanity. My goodness his reaction is so sad. Like he’s just stunned at how unfeeling she is towards him. Once again Loki, immaturity won’t do shit.

Anyways, there’s my rant. I’ve used up the mobile image limit lmaoooo. I might talk about this more, but this just got me thinking, especially with the sad panel of Loki from the new chapter. Hope yall enjoyed, thanks for coming to me Ted talk

can i rant about Taco [bfdi] for a bit? No? well too bad 😃

She had SO much missed potential it’s crazy. She was such an interesting character and it sucks that they changed her personality post-split. Don’t get me wrong, i still love her and she’s still my absolute favorite bfdi character no matter what, but her personality was changed so much post-split and that makes me sad.

Pre-split, Taco was shunned from her team, which let us see a lot about her personality. She was competitive, clever, but also pretty reckless and stubborn, which is a good thing. A character can’t be a good one without flaws. She also had a sense of leadership, which was shown in bfb 1, when she lead her team to the basket, making her pretty independent and prone to taking matters into her own hands.

However, in post-split bfb, her personality changes a lot. She still has a few occasional moments where she acts like her pre-split self while competing, but she became almost a caretaker to blocky and woody which she probably wouldn’t have done if she had her old personality. After the split, she just became another bland character to shove in the background, and it sucks, it feels like the writers just didn’t have any more ideas for her. She was a very popular character pre-split, but they took away every interesting part of her character and replaced it with someone who complains alot and that played a big part her downfall and being overhated by fans.

If she had joined tpot, and kept her old personality, she would have been a way more substantial character and have way more opportunities. She could’ve been a great team leader, with her competitive and cleverness, combined with her abilities like her athleticism and heat resistance. Plus she would’ve been the perfect character to be suspicious of One! In bfb 29, she’s the one to point out that the announcer is hiding something, while nobody believes her. Which could’ve fit SO PERFECTLY with the whole current situation in tpot.

I do have more i wanna say but I’m tired and i forgot lol

also obviously this is biased since Taco’s my favorite character, [also this sucks because i suck at doing character analysises and wrote this tired asf the night before my school resumes after winter break] and I don’t have anything against post-split Taco [I love her either way], i just would’ve preferred it more if she joined tpot or just kept her personality.

I feel like this is the case with a lot of fandoms, especially with *hem hem* tHe PoLiTiCaL aNd EcOnOmIcAl StAtE oF tHe WoRlD, but fr I feel like people get very...two-dimensional in their views of people, and therefore their analyses and opinions on characters. Like this has always been a thing but I feel it's much more concentrated lately. And I see this ESPECIALLY exemplified in people's perception of Apple White. I know we talk about her SO MUCH but it's because people feel like they have to have a strong take on her. Specifically because her views reflect modern society in a lot of the shows fundamental themes. I see a lot of either "she's terrible and fundamentally a bad person and if you defend her or empathize with her you also suck and are ignorant" or "she's perfect and I will defend all of those objectively sucky things she's done because she's just a sad girl."

Hey guys hey guys; people are three dimensional. Apple is a victim and a toxic friend simultaneously, who goes through a CHARACTER ARC. I feel like in the end, this is what people forget. At the beginning, yeah, she is a highly flawed character. In the end, she is working to change and make amends and grow. Why should we just choose to ignore that? And that's not to say we should ignore the fact she inflicted a lot of damage and started a lot of conflict, cause she absolutely did, regardless of whether she has some justification. There's a balance.

I see this with so many fandoms but like Apple is such a good example of this phenomenon. I find myself defending characters who wouldn't need a defense if they were just looked at from a nuanced perspective because of this so often. People will really have a take that seems like they either do not have the media literacy required to have watched the show, or just want to have some moral high ground.

THAT SAID. JUST TO COVER ALL MY BASES. I have a lot of empathy for the people who have these very negative takes because, as I stated,her character does reflect much of modern society, which affects and hurts a lot of people who are probably those who end up with these really strong takes, and that is perfectly valid. I just think it speaks to a greater, broad misunderstanding a lot of people then have, which is created by this hurt, because anything which influences peoples lives and emotions and wellbeing tend to lean in that direction.

I am just tired of opinions which take one thing and jump to another without considering the other perspective fully. And this goes for both sides, I just feel I see it more with negative takes than positive.

I could keep going, but I fear I would just end up with a legitimate essay. Which I could write. Maybe I will. Anyway.

Ragapom headcanons:

I agree 100% with Ragatha falls first Pomni falls harder

Zooble and Gangle are always giving each other looks about how gay but oblivious Raggy and Pomni are. Sometimes, it's the other way around, and Ragapom ships Abstragedy instead

Pomni's favorite thing about Raggy is her voice and Raggy's favorite thing about Pom is her eyes

Ragatha is very careful with the fact that Pomni doesn't like to be touched but to the point where Pomni would get like "ok you are my girlfriend you can touch me more, I'll tell you if it's too much"

Pomni's touch aversion also makes her prefer to be the one that initiates contact, Ragatha would sometimes hover her hand over her Pom's cheek or arm so she will lean into the touch if it's ok

I read somewhere that Pomni's favorite color is red, so I hc that at some point Raggy complains about her licorice hair but Pom compliments it saying it's her favorite color

Ragatha has a piano in her room but she's not the best at piano, Pomni turns out to be great at music, they spend a lot of time playing piano and singing in her room, it becomes Pomni's favorite thing in the circus. Jax, who's room is right next to, hates it

Both think they are the "reacher" or that they want the other more than the other wants them, or that the other could do better than them. Jax, not knowing this, once tried to make them argue about who the reacher and the settler was, but it became a fight of "I love YOU more" "No! I love YOU more" and he hates it

Kinger ships it enthusiastically, Gangle is happy for them and thinks they deserve each other, Zobble gets a little second hand embarrassment or gets sick of them sometimes but ships them too, Jax is a hater and a troll, Caine never notices it, and Bubble makes censored comment and jokes about it

Ragatha is a lesbian but she was deep in the closet before the circus cause she clearly represses her feelings. Pomni is demisexual and bi

Ragatha actually gets flustered easier than Pomni, lovestruck Pomni when it comes to Raggy instead goes quietly awestruck and give the most tender, calm and genuine of soft smiles and stares

If Ragatha is ever sad or upset at Pomni, the jester gets full crawling on the floor, open the door to find her kneeling with a bouquet of flowers, Gummigoo at spudsy's panic mode

I am so sorry to answer this a bit late but please know I am eating every single one of these headcanons up, you're cooking so good with these ;v;

I specifically want to talk for a second about each of them thinking they're the reacher with the other, that's super good...both of them privately worrying if they're too much or not enough for the other, if they're loved as much as they love back. I feel like both of them struggle with feelings of inadequacy and being "lesser" to a degree so it would make sense that they would have these fears regarding each other as well. Hopefully it's something that gets talked out early in their relationship so they don't have to worry about where they stand with the other. I really love the idea too that (most of) the rest of their friends in the circus support their relationship so much (also thank you for the Abstragedy crumbs here too).

(Also the idea of an apologetic Pomni crawling to Ragatha on all fours asking for forgiveness is so funny to me, I am sure Ragatha can't stay mad at her for long lol)

Guys theres something very weird and big going on I just HAVE to rant (again) bc im starting to get a bit confused and concerned (in a good way)

So, as you all know, I'm currently VERY hyperfixated on Metal Gear, but I haven't really talked just HOW much did the whole experience of that game affected me.

Because... holy shit, did it affect me. Did this game change me in a way I never expected. I never saw THIS level of autism before for something LMFAO☠️

Here are some examples. Whenever I just THINK about Metal Gear just in general, just "admire" the game, it's characters, it's story, the soundtrack, it's motives and lessons you learn behind them, it's community, it fills me with this excitement... Immense joy, that makes my fucking heart rate speed up. I can barely contain it, it seethes inside me like a mass of butterflies desparately wanting to get out.

And when I look at the fanart, the memes, anything related to it, I cannot contain this bubbling happiness inside me, I start squealing and kicking my feet like a highschool girl crushing HARD💩

Metal Gear now lives in my head rent free for 24/7😭 I'm SO invested in that shit, I literally want to write down the ENTIRE detailed lore and organize it on a paper, then literally learn it from START TO FINISH. (And when I say it's complicated, not even the true OG fans can explain it in the correct order to the newbies.)

Everything about it gives me comfort, gives me inspiration, motivation, anything positive that comes to your mind.

NO game EVER has made me feel like this. No, fix that.

Nothing EVER has made me feel this way, except my most important f/os. But still, not to THIS level. Literally.

What's even more interesting, I'm not even done with discovering and learning about the whole lore! I watched the first Metal Gear Solid game, second, third, and fourth, and I'm currently on the fifth, Phantom Pain. And even AFTER that, I have to watch Metal Gear Rising. (which is a spin off fixated on another side character, Raiden, but still important to the MGS storyline.) I dunno how many parts does Metal Gear Rising have, but I'll find out. AND not only that, we will have a Remake of the third game coming this August! SQUEEEEE IM SO HAPPIHAPPIHAPPI- *vibrates*

This game made me feel every emotion possible: happiness sadness (MGS 4 IM LOOKING AT YOU), anger, absolute flabbergasting shock, nervousness, fear, awe, horny i mean what o-o

Which is not what is listed lol. This is maybe a good time to mention that I actually have a side PWP AO3 although I haven't used it in a while, and haven't written any PWP for JJK. So only go check it out if you like FE3H rarepairs or Hades, I guess.

And if you do the math between my two accounts, you still won't get up to 55 because a few of those are actually posted anon. I did some kinkmeme fills for the FE3H fandom and while I'm not ashamed of the content lol, I did those as more of a writing reset thing and they're not as edited/polished as I would like? So I just don't want them under my real accounts.

So first, just, full disclaimer - kudos is not a good stats metric to judge your fics. Kudos amount is not sensitive to quality, it is sensitive to fandom size, fic type (pwp vs plot-driven, oneshot vs multichapter, au vs canon), rating, and length. Please god do not ever judge based on flat kudos.

A better metric (which by the way you should still not care about metric when you do Enjoyable Hobbies) is hit:kudos ratio, which I find is almost always around 10:1. If I want to see how well a oneshot does, that's a good metric. Repeat readers can't give repeat kudos, so that metric is useless for multichapters.

Anyway this is why it's good to comment on the fics that you like - the nice words people say to you are infinitely more valuable and better than numbers. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Yeah so this is my most kudosed fic and it is not even close. I love this fic, I snapped with this fic, however it is also the only thing I have ever written for Arcane so it's like this one massive outlier on my AO3.

Ahahahaha i forgot about this fic, I did snap with it though. I will play Hades 2 when it actually full releases and then I'll probably be insufferable. Hades fandom was very very fun and friendly, especially the Thesterius subsection. It may have been the nicest and most accepting fandom I've been in.

i really try to respond to all my comments, or if someone writes a bunch I'll respond to them as a group. I struggle to write comments myself, even when I absolutely love a fic, so to me it's no small thing when people take the time to comment, and responding is a way I can say 'thank you' and 'hi yes i am a real person and your effort has made me tangibly happy'. plus like, we're all doing this for community, and community only happens when we actually talk to each other. interaction is the life blood of fandom, and it's how you make friends :)

weelllll I don't really write sad endings tbh. and maybe that's giving away the game a little bit with FIYM but I promise it's gonna be a tough road to the happy ending there. so if i had to pick one, it would be a Satoru POV piece but it almost doesn't count to me because those aren't exactly 'endings'. for that, I'd probably say the uncertainty principle (JJK STSG 1.4k) is the angstiest. it's also not really a plot story, so not really an ending, but I think 'angstiest character study' still counts.

by my definitions though, I am going to nominate Swan Song (FE3H Balthuri, 9.4k) This one is more full bore angst, although I think the ending is... optimistic? I really like this fic, although it is for a tiny tiny niche ship.

uuuuuuuhhhhhhhh. how do you even measure happy? also i don't have a lot of longfics with 'endings' because i'm a piece of shit with abandoned wips (i am so sorry FE3H)

I'm going to say Limitless (Hades Patrochilles, 1.1k)? It's not a lot of plot to be ending but I think it's probably the most feel good? Second nomination to Condemned (Hades Thesterius, 7.5k) which has a little more plot.

Do you write crossovers?

not exactly. I write AUs, but I don't generally cross characters over, which I feel like is more of what 'crossover' entails. No hate, just not something I feel particularly compelled to do.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

nope. literally never. it is extremely rare on AO3 (in my experience) unless you are dealing a Really Big Ship and you run into people with extreme T/B or characterization preferences. I have seen friends get hate, esp in Big Ships in the FE3H community, so I know it is a real thing that exists, but I have fully dodged it.

the closest thing I've ever gotten is someone being like "ew, you wrote Ares/Dionysus?? that's incest!"

but all you can do with that is laugh, because... my brother in christ, do you know Greek canon?

yep. lots. I don't know what 'what kind' means, but I write all kinds. with and without plots, with and without inhuman genitalia, with and without consent.

i currently only have mlm and mlmonster posted, but i have written (and not been happy enough to post) wlw and het. hopefully that eventually changes, because I do feel bad that I don't have more equal opportunity smut out there. women are great we love women. i just don't feel like I write wl well enough yet.

i have had someone ask, i don't know if they ever posted, it is still an extremely high compliment and it makes me smile that someone even wanted to do it.

i have had a fic recorded, which is definitely my peak (The Prince of Roses, FE3H Ashedue Sleeping Beauty AU 1k/6min). that was so cool. podficcers are very cool, they are doing god's work, and I would totally do it if I didn't hate my voice.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

no, and I think I would be a nightmare to work with, because I am very particular about everything.

however, i love love love collabing with artists and I have done that several times. and I would love to do more!

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

FE3H Balthuri. It's so niche but it's so good. Balthus has a lot of depth to him if you look past the surface. And Yuri's backstory is an incoherent, impossible spaghetti bowl caused by the creative team not being able to say no to any single idea. love them.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

The Lion of Kupala - Balthuri Canon Divergent AU 30k Political Intrigue

i think my plot ideas for this fic were very interesting, but the amount of effort I put into the atmosphere building and stuff was burning me out compared to the size of the community. and I would expect the fandom for this ship is basically dead these days so if I did go back to it, it would be a pretty solitary labor of love. I am unlikely to finish my Ashedue fics either, but I am significantly more likely to finish those because there's more potential that people might cheer me on and help me get to the finish line for that ship.

What are your writing strengths?

comedy, apparently! i didn't really write comedy until JJK, so that was kind of a surprise.

i would probably say characterization too. different reads on characters are (or, can be) equally valid because you're working with limited text. I think the key is staying consistent.

i'm very good at dialogue matching if there is a good enough sample size to draw from, which I don't think there is for lots of manga. i don't think my dialogue matching is good for JJK, especially with the translation from JP making some of the ENG sound unnatural in the actual manga. but I think for my other fandoms, I did pretty good

What are your writing weaknesses?

action for sure. and people are very nice to me about my action scenes, but they are for sure the hardest pieces for me to write and they take a long time for me to conceptualize and wrangle into coherent words.

these days, atmosphere has been a weakness too, I think. i used to really focus on that in my writing, but it has been more fun to be a little more dialogue and plot driven vs super rich moments. that's part of why I burned out on some of my FE3H fics. it takes a lot of mental energy for me in the writing process to constantly check in on scene setting/atmosphere.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

clarity is the most important thing - your reader should understand what you are saying and be drawn into the context of the world. sometimes writing dialogue in other languages adds, sometimes it subtracts. does the character understand that language? if so, they should hear it in the reader's language so that is understood. if they don't, then it should be given outside of the reader's language. and in that case, you should always have your specific translation in the end notes (if you want the reader (not the character) to know what was said), or you lose some clarity/intent.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Chainsaw Man.

when i started FIYM, the other Big Project I was looking at was a multipart 'X Lives and Here's Exactly How it Could Work in Canon". but i didn't find the ship very compelling and it takes a lot for me to write gen because I find the community is better/more active for ship fics. so we went with FIYM even though my idea was less fleshed out (narrator: that would soon change).

which is funny because it's the only piece of FIYM that was totally unscreened by betas, it took the least time to write (proportionally), and I wrote it when I was probably at my lowest with anxiety, sleep deprivation, and stress.

Personally I LOVE alternate reality show, idk if its just nostalgia, since it was like one of the newest episodes when I started watching, but I think it's really fun!!!!!!!!!

It focuses on 2 of my favourites, test tube and lightbulb and I think they work off one another really well!!! Also they are both very relatable to me in this episode. Test tube being frustrated with lightbulb and how it seems she can just effortlessly get people to like her, and how lightbulb feels about painty not wanting to work together anymore. And when she says "I try." After test tube yells at her its just so ehehjeiwy2nrudhe7e73krr /pos. Genuinely I could go on and on.

Some thoughts on Izzy and why I’m sad people hate him so much without any consideration to his character history and the theme of the show.

Like don’t get me wrong, I understand the Izzy we have seen so far is…rough to say the least.

But here's the thing. We know that in season 2 we're going to get a lot of good character development from him, and I'm very excited about this.

“Izzy goes on a remarkable journey this season” says O'Neill. "He understands what love is and whom he's in love with."

“it's been quite demanding to be playing a man enraged by unrequited love, who's basically a hopeless romantic,"

Izzy is clearly struggling with some internalized issues. Internalized homophobia probably being one of them.

He's struggling with the fact he's devoted everything he has every day to Blackbeard. He doesn't understand why Ed is suddenly this open and emotionally available person for Stede, he doesn't know why stede gets that side of Ed and he never has.

Even Ivan points it out when he says “This is the most open and available I've ever seen him"

Im not saying Izzy's actions so far in the show are to be ignored or excused by any means but I think Izzy is dealing with emotions he was never taught how to deal with, how to recognize or even made to feel like he was allowed to feel them. I think we can kind of assume Izzy was raised to be a"man's man" and not to be "soft”

Even David Jenkins has said himself “a lot of what were taught about being a man is wrong"

What we're going to be seeing in season 2 is Izzy realizing this. Just as we've seen Ed and Stede processing through something similar in season 1 though maybe not as extreme. They were both raised by shit fathers who made it a point to tell them that being soft or gentle is a bad thing. That enjoying the gentler things in life is Un masculine. Like Stede's love for picking flowers, Or Ed's love for fine fabrics.

This is clearly something that real people struggle with in the real world everyday. What it means to be a Man, to be masculine.

I guess all in all what I'm trying to say is that yeah Izzy has been a shitty person for the most part so far, but he's dealing with a lot and trying to process through it. Like a lot of real people do on a day to day basis.

This show is about breaking the mold. It's about grabbing toxic masculinity and ripping it apart and throwing it in the trash.

It's sad to me so many people are quick to just toss Izzy aside like a one dimensional character who doesn't have his own trauma and pain. I think we’ve all made mistakes in life, things we wish we had known better than to do or say but just didn’t know any better of at the time. We should all be allowed to grow and learn and become better versions of ourselves.

Anyways, Thanks for coming to my izzy hands character development Ted Talk. I can’t say when I first watched the show that I thought I’d ever be an izzy fan but the more I dig into his character and the more I see fandom interpretations of him the more he grows on me.

A week late but I watched Dead Boy Detectives show with my mate. First time binging a show it was fun (SPOILERS COMING UP)

I surprisingly loved it. I was expecting to be let down a lil' by the actors (ye, I judged them a lil' too quickly. I thought they were just gonna be spending more time Lookmaxxing the camera). They did great. An amazingly talented cast that clearly had fun and it was good to watch. The show itself was fun, goofy and a perfect mixture of comic humour and TV humour (I preferred the comic humour)

However: I have one small problem...(**SPOILER**) WHY DID THEY KILL NIKO? I am never reading a Dbd comic ever again. Until the day I die, she was so cool, and awesome and cute (mainly cute, but I digress). I don't care if she's not in the comics or not. I am going to hold my breath until she's alive again..............................

The plot worked really well. Death wasn't really as big of a part of the plot as I expected. Monty, and this will be controversial, sucked. The witch was played really well. Edwin and Charles' arcs were so sad and Edwin falling in love with Charles and being shot down 😭. Why couldn't Charles be gay. But also Charles' relationship with Crystal was so cute I loved it. Speaking of Crystal. Her Arc was my favourite of all of em. It was a very realistic dilemma of being constantly haunted by your past, then turned up to about 6 million because it's Dead Boy Detectives

Niko was just a sweetheart. I have the biggest crush on her of all time

oh also I guess enough time has passed but I think vader burning obi-wan was such a genius move, story-wise. like it's so on-brand for his character, especially since he's so angry and he wanted obi-wan to feel exactly how he felt on mustafar. i feel like it's very obvious that he was thinking about doing that to obi-wan for a long time.

I think in my eyes going back and watching the prequels and even TCW with this knowledge really shifts things for me, especially with obi-wan and anakin's relationship. not necessarily in a bad way, I love their dynamic and I still do. but more in a way of "wow, give it a few years and these two are going to just. damage each other completely and the way that anakin will come to hate obi-wan in the future makes me so sad about how they are now"

and I guess before kenobi dropped we knew that vader hated obi-wan. like obviously he says it to him at the end of ROTS and the way he constantly talked about finding obi-wan afterwards made it very clear.

but in the kenobi series, we finally get to see him act on that hate. and it tells us just how much he hates him. (spoiler: a lot).

anyways, I still haven't gotten around to rewatching the prequels since kenobi dropped last year (though I did rewatch ROTS last summer), but having rewatched some TCW episodes recently, it just hurts in a different way to see obi-wan and anakin being...obi-wan and anakin, you know? like the fact that they both care about each other so much but also just knowing just how much damage they're going to do to each other...

it's heartbreaking.

Did anyone else see the final letter from Akutami at the end of the JJK epilogue? It makes me very sad to see how poorly he views himself and how much he let the criticism get to him as he tried to complete the series.

He thanked the fans for their dedication but I don’t think he said a single good thing about himself and the incredible world he created. Whenever he said anything about himself, it was self-deprecating or belittling his accomplishments. It makes me want to give the man a giant hug.

It was revealed that the extended hiatus he took during the summer of 2024 was due to being hospitalized with appendicitis. This man was going through it just like the rest of us. He’s human just like we are. And it’s one reason that I’ve tried to emphasize that while I disagreed heavily with his execution of some plot points, I have a hell of a lot of respect for him and the world he created for us to write about and enjoy.

A reminder that this is a 32 year old whose first major work became a worldwide hit. He was 25 or 26 when he started JJK. The pressure has likely been destroying him and his health, especially with the twitter account posing as him which definitely didn’t help people’s opinion of him. While he has little online presence, it was recently confirmed that he’s chronically online. His editor was recently asked which JJK character matched Akutami’s personally the most, to which his editor responded Gojo. I’ve kept this thought to myself for a while, but I’ve wondered for a long time if Akutami didn’t understand why people liked Gojo because he’d given him traits that he had received negative feedback for throughout his life and that was why he was confused that people liked Gojo if he hadn’t been well-received in the past. (Does anyone remember the discussions we’ve had, specifically related to my Physical Paradox series, but they broadly apply to neurodivergent tendencies too, about rejection sensitive dysphoria and other things like that?) I’ve also said before that I’ll die on the hill of canon Gojo being AuDHD. Essentially, I’m sitting here making a very broad declaration that I think Akutami is neurospicy (likely undiagnosed due to how Japan’s mental/health system is set up) and has just been doing his best to get through life like the rest of us while enduring some major mass online hate in silence.

Anyway, that’s my rant. I could say more but I’ve been sidetracked so many times and I need to stop myself before I write an entire fucking essay about this shit. Thanks for coming to my ted talk 😂

busting down the door of your blog here. don't worry i'll fix it. anyways moving to the askbox so that i can have Maximum Rambling Power: The Professor is indeed aroace, but that aroaceness has layers to it (ex. he indulges in sexual humor, he has a spanking kink, he occasionally flirts with Sara Rubin). Me personally, I feel like all of the things they do and say that can be considered romantic and sexual are all Bits™ that the Professor finds funny because they have a fucked up sense of humor like that. It is a universal aroace experience to realize that sex and romance are at least a little silly and make jokes about it, so the Professor is leaning into that. The 5th episode also made me realize how much of a masochist the Professor is (he asked Ryan to punch him in the stomach??? For the bit???), but this isn't necessarily him expressing his sexual side. They're Just Fucked Up Like That (again: it's Very Funny to him)

Now does this headcanon conflict with one-sided Ryfessor on the Professor's part? (I hope you don't mind me pivoting to this) Absolutely not. I think it enhances it actually. So far, the only romance they're confirmed to have ended with them fucking selling the beanie baby—the mistresses do not count, I think they hired them solely to infodump with someone about history and also get kisses because they're touch-starved. He Is Terrible At Romance is what I'm saying, and I don't think he's good at handling romantic feelings either because he so rarely experiences them. So when they start catching feelings for Ryan, they go into panic mode because what the hell is this??? I feel like he caught them pretty early in the show, and as a response, he tries to make himself hate Ryan and make Ryan hate him as much as possible so that he can squash those feelings like a bug, hence the start of a bitter rivalry that ended with him literally getting murdered. Lol. Lmao even.

I think after everything from S5 got sorted out, the Professor realized his strategy Did Not Work At All, so he just pivoted to being the bestest friend he could be. One of my favorite tropes ever is someone who catches romantic feelings and, instead of being sad over not getting together, uses those romantic feelings to enhance their platonic relationship, and I think it'd be really sweet if this applies to the Professor. They suck at it at first since they're still messed up from everything that happened in S4 and S5, but I think S7 is where they get the hang of it. The Professor completely respects Ryan's marriage to Mari and wishes them well, but that won't stop him from fantasizing occasionally and being at least a little weird around Ryan. And now we're here. At S7. With the Professor calling Ryan their jester. Oh my god.
