illario as the grandchild that is most like caterina is something i'm loving to chew on. the grandson that took her lessons to heart the most. kill anyone who sees your face and knows your name, "we are not revolutionaries", the first out of the two to prioritise the contract. power at any cost, and the only one to lean into the unnecessary abuse that their grandmother told them was tradition. why is anyone surprised he allied with the venatori? and then there's illario's considerable skill in infiltration and manipulating any mark, he has always had the charisma that lucanis lacked. illario isn't attached, he has/can/will use someone and immediately drop them; "that does free me from promises i don't intend to keep". he can lie about how much he cares so well that he fools a magister into believing he loves her. he kills zara without hesitation to cover his own tracks, meanwhile lucanis blindly promises a young girl in the middle of a siege that he will help her find her father. even the lessons about family stick with him, and in this entire messy power struggle, he never actually orders anyone to directly kill caterina or lucanis, not until he's backed into a corner.
and even after all that. despite even lucanis believing illario should be first talon, lucanis is still the better killer. illario is not strong enough to be the brutal assassin caterina needs him to be. so when lucanis seems to fill the role his mother left, grief and love for her dead heir apparent remains, and any of the other qualities caterina needs in her next talon doesn't matter. whatever his mother was, lucanis has to be. what illario does doesn't matter, because he will always be second best to caterina's memory of her favored daughter.

kicks down everyone's door folks I might have figured out how tall Sun Wukong/Destined One is in Black Myth Wukong.
Starting with a disclaimer that this is just my speculation and nothing is confirmed unless the dev state otherwise
So y'know how the collector's edition came with this amazing Wukong figurine:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
amazing right? I want one too.
The description states that the figure is 40cm tall (according to playasia)
The figure is made by Queen Studio, specifically the INART team that makes 1:6 figures.
So we know that the figure is 40cm tall. It is not clear if that includes stand or not, and I was not able to find any information how tall the stand is
On another website (which I don't want to name because I don't know how serious the website is) lists up the figure as 315mm/31.5cm
Tumblr media
If that is the height of the actual figure without stand, and it's a 1:6 figure, that means 31.5cm * 6 = 189 cm
So that means it is very possible Destined One/Sun Wukong is 189 cm / 6 feet 2 inch tall.
that is TALL. a lot taller than I thought he would be tbh LOL cause in the books he is usually described as the shortest (cause well, monkey)
which ALSO means.
Tumblr media
Wukong better be paying for her chiropractor with the amount of crancking her neck up she has to do.

Damn, I really do love how realistic the family dynamics in blue lock are and it’s been such an unexpected surprise. Like there’s so much range
a rich kid who was spoiled by his parents but also was expected to do the most and so now has crazy perfectionist tendencies
a kid that was taken care of materially but was absolutely neglected by his parents, and now as a teen has to learn how to socialize and be close to others in a way that he probably craves but doesn’t know how
a kid with totally normal parents that support his hobbies and want the best for him without expecting the moon, probably in a very average way (get a good job, marry a nice person, etc.)
a kid of divorced parents that used their child as a way to project and navigate their relationship failures, leaving him feeling isolated and with the burden to bring peace to his family through his success
a kid with curious and destructive tendencies, who’s parents tried their best to raise him but fell in the trap of trying to adjust him to their sense of normalcy rather than to understand his instincts. also had an older brother he placed on a pedestal that tried to protect him from the burdens that were placed on them, which inevitably backfired as they were just a child too.
a kid with a single mom who raised him with so much care and acceptance, encouraging him to embrace his feelings
a kid who was raised kinda by a single dad, but grew up in a very abusive home that told he was worthless and instilled so much self hatred
But now they all just… play soccer together.
…and try to navigate that time when you’re a teen and you realize how fucked up your childhood was, while also forming your own identity outside of the world your parents built for you (kinda like what all my friends and I did when we ended up in the same college together lol)

ok- ok see see - ok, i love WFA- so so sooooo much. so much. And I love the emotional turmoil of seeing Bruce battling his kids to keep them safe from Joker. I eat that up every time.
But the episode/comic when Joker is freed and they all argue against him, about how he trained them, and they know the risk, and he said he trusted them and if he can't trust them with this then how can they ever trust him? how can they ever have a stable relationship if he doesn't trust them...
but- but the thing is, Bruce did trust them. He trusted Jason. He told Jason to stay put. He tried to trust someone. And Jason failed that. By being a good person, by being who he is, who Robin stands for. An honorable thing to strive for. A good thing, even.
But Jason dies, and comes back- and immediately starts harping on Bruce. About how he shouldn't have let a kid onto the streets. About how it was so dangerous. About how he didn't save him in time.
Bruce knows that!
He has nightmares about not being able to save his children, and this is his way to stop them, to keep them safe. Joker has taken one of them, multiple of them, from him already. He doesn't want it to happen again.
He does trust them. He does love them. But they cannot tell him they know the risks and that he needs to trust them, when Jason makes the same argument and then when Bruce did trust him and it got him killed, and then he pins it all on Bruce, on how Bruce shouldn't've let him out, should have protected him, should have saved him in time.
Those are Bruce's fears. That he won't get there in time. That he can't protect them.
And the reason they're there? Jason. Not just his death, but his rebirth too. Because Jason voiced all those fears and made them reality. Blamed Bruce.
I get that it's all complicated, that there needs to be equal push and pull from both sides. But it still makes me just a little pressed when people are so quick to jump against Bruce and jump to the kids defenses when they are the reasons for his fears and protectiveness.

*grabs you by the scruff of your neck* CHILD. LISTEN. All nighters won’t help you. To study more efficiently you GOTTA sleep. Hell, naps will probably work to an extent. But your brain needs rest and NO looking at your little digital critters doesn’t count as REST… that’s just a much needed rest.

on masks
so shockingly miracle mask has huge mask theming in like every aspect. basically every significant character is 'wearing' a mask literally or metaphorically, except for luke who remarks in ludmilla's costume shop that he doesn't think any of the masks suit him (since the events of the previous game luke can be authentically himself now.) this is fun to notice on its own, but there's more to be discussed than just the presence of masks.
every mask in miracle mask backfires on its wearer to some degree! the most obvious case of this is descole and the masked gentleman straight up underestimating their own mask/s and failing to see their plans to the end, and the resulting consequences. dalston and henry's masks of stoicism turn out to have kept them from years of friendship they could have enjoyed, and paint them both as suspects in the masked gentleman case. angela's aloof facade and distance from everyone around her allows her to be kidnapped for a significant portion of the game without anyone but the professor noticing (and even then, he notices that something's up with her, but chalks it up initially as not knowing her anymore). less obviously, emmy's mask only means she'll end up hurting the people she has come to care for even more when the time comes.
most interesting to me, though, is hershel! even as a teen he's remarkably reserved, though clearly passionate. he keeps himself very controlled, and seems to care very much about coming across to others as helpful, grounded, and 'normal'. the interests that we know he has he keeps locked up, literally hidden away in cupboards, not to be acknowledged aloud to himself or others. he never gets angry or ever really displays any stereotypical teen behaviours apart from awkwardness.
now what this means is he is treated as the reliable one who will nonetheless go along with whatever randall wants him to do. he's never particularly assertive (something he will learn to be as an adult) so his willingness is taken for granted. he's put in mortal danger in akbadain because it never occurs to randall that hershel's protests are anything more than for appearance's sake.
and when randall falls and hershel is alone, he yells! he falls to his knees, completely overcome. he cries. he pushes through. and when he reaches angela and henry, alone, covered in dirt, looking completely haunted... they don't even ask him if he's okay. angela bodily shakes him. in the past and present, nobody treats hershel as if he's been through something traumatic - to everyone else, he was either a bystander to or complicit in randall's death, but controlled, mild-mannered and rational hershel is never considered a victim in his own right even after years have passed for everyone to think on it. years after the fact angela apologises to hershel... when she realises she needs his help. and henry immediately accuses him of betraying randall's memory and abandoning him.
and to be clear this isn't me saying oh they're evil or whatever but it's significant that they acknowledge how the trauma affected them and their behaviour from that point forward but it doesn't occur to them that hershel's behaviour and life trajectory was also altered forever! because hershel has for his whole life masked so well that to everyone else he does not have an interior life that isn't puzzle solving.
and the absolute funniest thing about it is that when hershel confesses this all to emmy and luke.... it's immediately back to the investigation, "where do we go now professor!" i'm sure there's no reason to ask if hershel's okay, he's probably unaffected by all that, let's go! readers i laughed out loud. tfw you mask so well everyone forgets you're a person

The Syd Poll
the topic of this poll is one that is frequently avoided in the pink floyd fandom, but inevitably one we all consider – our individual views on what we think caused syd's psychological struggles (and by extension, led to his departure from the band). I think that – at least in this neighborhood of tumblr – this is a conversation we are capable of having in a way that is civil, nuanced, and at least minimally disrespectful to syd.
So, to help facilitate this, here are some ground rules:
let's all assume we have a mutual understanding of the complexities of this. syd could never actually be reduced down to a poll, and all of our viewpoints are limited in various ways
the poll options just serve as just a conversation starter, and responses are not necessarily a statement of absolute beliefs
feel free to discuss as much or as little of your own perspective as you feel comfortable sharing.
in the case that debates break out, please try to assume good intent – and also demonstrate it (unless, for instance, someone is being blatantly insulting beyond a misunderstanding that needs correcting)
please do NOT vote if you are not actually a pink floyd fan with at least basic knowledge about what we're talking about here.
The options I've included below are not meant to be exhaustive, they are simply the "theories" that I have seen most commonly circulated. I have also decided not to include combinations. I'm fairly sure we'd all agree multiple factors were involved. Rather than make the poll too complicated, I ask you to instead select the one that you think is the "most" important to your viewpoint, and clarify further in your tags/comments as you wish.
so. here we go.
READ BEFORE VOTING ^^^^
(note of correction: "late-onset schizophrenia" should just be "schizophrenia". the typical timeline for onset of symptoms is late adolescence/early adulthood, so syd would've been well within that period at the time)
#pink floyd#syd barrett#//#I will sacrifice myself and go first with way too much detail. hopefully it will help other people feel more comfortable talking#I chose consensual use of psychedelics. mainly bc I am fairly certain that he suffered from severe hppd#it stands for 'hallucinogen persisting perception disorder' –speaking crudely its 'did too much acid and got stuck like that'#I do NOT expect this kind of oversharing from anyone else but the reason I think that is because -I- definitely have that#its comparatively mild but I notice a lot of the same kind of impacts.#I'm more prone to dissociation and overstimulation. it takes more mental energy to communicate. my perception plays a bit fast and loose.#(again. it's not -that- bad. and NO pity for me this was a completely predictable outcome that I DO think is a little funny) but digressing#I can clearly see how if those symptoms were significantly escalated it would be just like what was described by ppl who knew syd#I think its very unkind to refer to him as a “drug casualty”#but I'm fairly confident anyone who's done acid would say by about hour 8 of the trip “okay. yah. too much of this could do that to someone#in other words –although I'm pretty sure syd was also neurodivergent– I do think its at least possible that the lsd couldve been enough#I'm happy to talk more about any of this in asks/dms if anyone wants. genuinely very cool with discussing it#but anyway. that's my take – obviously based entirely on anecdotal evidence tho so take that with as many grains of salt as you wish

We don't talk enough about the fact that Solas placed a magic hidden mic in the Evanuris' lair so you can listen directly to what they're saying in the Crossroads. The real reason Solas' spies were fired was because he already could gather information on the main enemies by using AI (Audio Incantation)

SONIC MOVIE 3 TALK BELOW (SPOILERS! YOU WERE WARNED)
I know there's been a little bit of debate over the Moon Scene and the Falling to Earth Scene. How were they breathing on the moon? How was Team Sonic (and later Shadow) not burning up in the atmosphere upon re-entry?
Explanation: Plotholes!
But I don't like that answer, so here's some coverup options, scientific and not!
1. The Moon Scene
Scientific: First, a little background. Our moon has no atmosphere, but it does have an exosphere. That exosphere is very thin, and contains no oxygen, only small traces of hydrogen, helium, argon, and neon. So, even with that exosphere, we know humans can't breathe up there. But that's just humans. While the gasses up there are thin, they're still present, even spread apart as they are. The fact that Sonic and Shadow are able to breathe up there could be due to their Chaos Energy allowing them to collect gasses nearby and to duplicate enough of the molecules to breathe. Or, alternatively, they're just able to survive on the thin traces of gasses available to them as aliens. At the very least, we can assume they don't need to breathe exclusively oxygen. Do with that what you will.
▪︎ These would also apply to Tails holding his breath. There is no sort of atmosphere, exosphere, or the like in space. There were no gasses for him to breathe, but there were on the station. So he took a breath and jumped out, and was fine until he fell unconscious (which was likely due to his weaker nature compared to the others, despite his experience with high G-forces  and extreme temperatures).
Non-Scientific: Their Super Forms have a grace period after using them, allowing a few extra minutes of invulnerability. This is weirdly less likely, as it sort of makes less sense (read: why would you still have the abilities of the Super Form after you'd stopped using it?), but if this one works for you, I'm glad!
2. Burning Up
Scientific(ish): Alien durability. In the first movie alone, Sonic crashed a tank and Robotnik's jet craft with his body with a Spindash (which is just his body), and survives that small but powerful explosion that he took the majority of. In the second movie, he fought Knuckles (a seasoned, strengthened warrior) and survived numerous battles, survived an avalanche, and (in both Super Form and not) survived the battle with Robotnik at the end of the movie. In the third movie (bear with me, I've only watched it once!), he fights Shadow, gets slammed into buildings, is one of the only people able to move under intense gravity, survives his Super fight with Shadow, and survives (although is knocked unconscious by) the Eclipse Cannon's beam. This isn't even covering Knuckles' durability (surviving hits from Sonic, getting run over by a car, etc) or even Tails' who is a bit weaker (also surviving the avalanche, manages to fly a biplane with no training). So. Alien durability. Tough fur, tough quills, tough skin, tough bones. (Even though Tails passed out, he managed a few seconds on re-entry and was fine overall.)
Non-Scientific: Pure Chaos Energy! Who's to say it didn't activate some sort of strengthening when in active danger, even if it wasn't visible to us? Not much else to say here. This is a very easy answer to come by.
3. Talking in Space
I was going to say "I got nothing," because there's no way for sound that humans are able to hear to travel in space. But the gang aren't humans, so that opens up some (unlikely) possibilities.
Scientific: They can communicate using gravitational waves. I know, that sounds weird, but gravitational waves are some of the only "sounds" we have in space. And they're not even sounds! They're just waves, but scientists use specialized computers to transform the frequency of those waves into sound. The thing is, if this were how they communicated, not only would the mental mathematics likely be far too complicated to be a language, it would also mean that they would be hearing these sounds near constantly! Black holes radiate gravitational waves. Stars radiate gravitational waves. The Earth radiates gravitational waves. All this to say, not only would it be really difficult, it would also be really annoying and loud for them. If you like this one, go for it, as complex as it would be in practice.
Scientific(ish): They're able to communicate on a different level than humans. Or, that is to say, they can communicate telepathically. I don't like this explanation. They would've done that before to communicate private plans, but, if you like this one, there you go.
Non-Scientific: Plot convenience of letting us as viewers hear them talk, but they actually spoke using ASL or some equivalent. Shadow was in an English speaking facility in the movie verse, so at the very least there was a possibility he learned it from someone there, or even from Maria (ignoring any development of ASL over 50 years and any translation errors occuring because of it). Sonic could've learned ASL over the ten years where he had nothing to do on Earth but watch, wait, and entertain himself. So, yeah. Sign language!
Anyway, again, these are just plothole coverups for what was overall a fantastic movie. And if you actually read all that, lmk if you have any other coverup explanations you like! :D

I certainly have my own concerns about the treatment of moo deng but um. well i think some of you may just be racist
#this ^ isn't directed at any post in particular but instead a lot of comments ive seen. but now im gonna talk about other posts down here#and prefacing anything i put in the tags here with DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH#but the biggest post ive seen going around rn about moo deng being mistreated and the general quality of khao kheow zoo is questionable#claims that the enclosure is mostly concrete seem to be false from all the sources i can find#the concrete section looks like its specifically around the feeding area which fits zoo care guidelines which specify that the feeding area#be a surface that can be easily cleaned separate from the substrate and is a surface present in other zoos#the lack of deep water also seems to be purposeful? older videos of the same enclosure show deeper water areas#and looking back through the news every baby pygmy hippo announcement from every zoo i could find mentioned periods where the baby had to#learn to swim and was slowly introduced from shallow water to deeper water as time passed#this was also corroborated by fowlers zoo and wild animal medicine volume 8 which suggests keeping the mother dry and then slowly#introducing water as the baby grows as a potential best practice#damn im treating this like a paper now. anyway the negatives#there are absolutely things that strike me as bad eg. public access to the hippos and the way the keeper interacts with them#for the keeper stuff in particular i'd really like to see input from someone who has experience as a zookeeper with pygmy hippos#the public access is something that i def think the zoo could improve on and even older footage from years ago shows people sticking like#selfie sticks and shit off the side of the railings and right into the hippos faces#however again the zoo seems to be making efforts to curb visitor behavior which is tough when you go from having 800 visitors a day to#4000+ and you can't remodel the whole exhibit right then and there#all this to say! just do your own research and take somewhat inflammatory comments on the internet with a grain of salt#also just to make it clear im not making any sweeping statements on khao kheow or the treatment of moo deng im just summarizing what i foun#based on what's being said in the most popular post on the subject ive seen.#for the potential like three people who will read all this hi :) hope ur having a nice day

in your gage pov, you mentioned that he had hairless legs. why is this? if he was spliced with dog dna wouldn’t he be hairier? did he have leg hair before going through the experimentation?
Gage/Christer suffered from a pretty bad case of delayed puberty so he had almost no body hair even at 17-19 when he finally started showing signs of puberty. When his DNA was spliced he only grew fur where he already had some hair growth (like under his arms and the pubic area); that's one of the reason his tail is completely hairless actually despite his ears being covered in hair/fur !
So that's why his legs remained hairless despite the dog DNA.
Funnily (or not) enough, it seems that Coeus fucking around with his DNA might have fucked with his puberty, so Gage will stay small and hairless except if he like, gets hormone therapy. Which he won't.
He's pretty much an accidental human micro-pig at this point, or I guess a teacup man-dog ? Don't support petite bishōnen man-dogs they are made unethically :-(

thinking about this post on how Ed’s impossible bird alludes to the albatross and now all I can think about is how these past 3 episodes feel like a play on the Rime of the Ancient Mariner…he’s crashing weddings to make sure everyone knows that he’s the mariner who shot the albatross, who cursed his luck and life; but what’s interesting is he also seems to be his own albatross. it’s his own weight hanging around his neck. and the act curses his crew—he kills the part of himself that guides sailors safely—and they are now forced to turn on him, their souls sucked away by his curse. and he’s ready to reconcile the guilt of it all via his own death, he wants to do so, but he just cannot seem to die:
“Alone, alone, all, all alone, / Alone on a wide wide sea! / And never a saint took pity on / My soul in agony.
The many men, so beautiful! / And they all dead did lie: / And a thousand thousand slimy things / Lived on; and so did I.”
but then finally, in the darkest night of the greatest carnage, he’s suddenly reminded that he’s not alone like he thought—there’s life in the sea, and it’s beautiful and fiery-warm. and it’s the moment he feels love again that the albatross finally frees itself from his neck and falls into the water. it’s the feeling of love that breaks the curse.
…is this something? can’t tell if this is a thing or if i’m charlie day meme-ing myself this show has broken me
