BnHA Chapter 309: Gotta Go My Own Way
Previously on BnHA: Muscular was all “well if it isn’t the protagonist on his solo journey of self-discovery, for some reason I’m unironically glad I get to fight you!” Deku was all “hey Muscular before I finish kicking your ass would you please take a moment to answer these two survey questions? Question one, do you regret being a total piece of shit? And question two, if you could do anything at all in the world other than being a total piece of shit, would you?” Muscular was all, “pfft, no and no.” Deku was all, “thanks buddy, your feedback helps make me a better hero, here’s a coupon for fifteen percent off your next ass-whooping.” Then he whooped his ass.
Today on BnHA: Deku is all “what up All Might can you believe you’ve been here this entire time?” All Might is all “I sure can since that’s literally my catch phrase, anyway how are your magic movie 1 gauntlets holding up?” Deku is all “they’re holding up fine, how are Hawks, Endeavor, and Best Jeanist doing?” Hawks, Endeavor, and Best Jeanist are all “we, your fellow co-conspirators, are also doing fine, thanks for asking!” Flashback!Deku is all “anyway so I secretly have All Might’s quirk and the most dangerous people in the world are after me, so sorry mom but that’s why I’m dropping out of school.” Inko is all “I CAN’T ACCEPT THAT” while totally accepting it. All Might is all “I GUESS WE’LL JUST HAVE TO GO ALONG WITH IT SINCE I DON’T FEEL LIKE TRYING TO STOP HIM.” Hawks, Jeanist, and Endeavor, as previously mentioned, are all “yeah that sounds like a good plan”, and Gran is all “see ya kid, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” So basically everyone in the entire world has suddenly teamed up with Deku to defeat AFO, except for the one person whose entire foreshadowed endgame is “teaming up with Deku to defeat AFO.” O Kacchan where art thou.
dear tumblr image limit: okay look. you don’t like me, and I don’t like you. but just as an experiment, I’m gonna try writing this recap with as few images as possible and we’ll see how it goes
(ETA: spoilers for how it went: it didn’t, lol.)
oh my god WHY ARE WE OPENING WITH MORE KETSUBUTSU ACADEMY KIDS.ffs we’d better at least finally get some Ms. Joke content out of this
(ETA: seriously who do I have to bribe.)
so these two KB kids who no one cares about are watching Deku leap away from the scene after dispatching Muscular. but more importantly wtf is this chapter title omg. “I can’t stay being a child” so that’s how it is huh. we’re gonna have feels and we’re going to like them. well then
oh my god he’s hauling Muscular away dhfksklfkh okay this is gonna have to be our first image because I can’t fucking help myself. look at this
just. Deku is so tiny and he’s carting away this massive unconscious lump of a man like it’s nothing why is this so funny to me. it’s like when people buy furniture, and they don’t want to pay extra for delivery and so they’re like, “I can definitely fit this king-sized mattress in the back of my compact sedan if I fold the fucking seat down, idk.” and they refuse to be talked out of it, and the next thing you know you’re watching them drive home with their open trunk door haphazardly tied down with bungee cords, and somehow it fucking works. because it turns out the compact sedan has super strength
anyway for SOME REASON now Horikoshi is all “have fun with that Deku, meanwhile we now return you to your regularly scheduled SHINDOU CONTENT” whyyyyyy
look at this. we’re really using up a whole fucking entire page on everyone arguing over who gets the honor of carrying Shindou
love how the civilians are all, “shit lol is this actually our fault?? quick, how do we play this off all casual like we were the reasonable parties here all along”
turns out all it took to finally get them to listen was making them watch while a kid got his insides ground into a pulp because of their stupidity!! what a heartwarming conclusion to this little standoff
anyways THANK GOD we’re cutting back to Deku now!! well actually we’re cutting back to Muscular who is being dropped off at the police precinct, good bye and good riddance lol
so Deku’s leaving him there and bounding away and okjdlSKFJLKJDSL OH MY GOD
no fucking way. no fucking way this little jaunt is All Might-sanctioned and approved. are you serious?? then who else is in on this?? what the hell is going on
so All Might is just WAITING FOR HIM IN AN ALLEY FFF WHO ARE YOU, JIM GORDON. or would Alfred be a better analogy here?? but like, Alfred if he ditched the suit for a moto jacket and shades
this new ensemble of All Might’s may or may not severely impact my ability to take this forthcoming conversation seriously; please stand by
also, quite the spectacular landing there, Deku. seriously lol what was that
“HOW ARE YOUR LIMBS” “THANKS TO YOU THEY’RE COMPLETELY FINE” I’M SORRY WHAT
LOL WHAT. “THANKS TO THE POWER OF THESE MAGIC GLOVES” OH I SEE THAT EXPLAINS IT
are these the same gauntlets from the first movie, then? well that’s all well and good, except that now there’s going to be more Deku Discourse than fucking ever lol. so if it’s all the same to you guys, I’m gonna once again go ahead and declare this week’s post a discourse-free zone, at least when it comes to the specific discourse of Deku’s merits as a MC, and the impact that him kicking ass and having working arms has on said merits. this has been something of a low mental energy week for me, so I’d rather reserve the energy I do have for more fun topics, such as All Might’s bitchin’ leather jacket
anyway so All Might’s saying that the gauntlets will help reinforce Deku’s arms, but they can’t withstand OFA at 100%. so basically it’s a support item designed to maintain the status quo lol. we’re basically in the same situation we were before, arm-capability-wise
homg All Might’s getting a call. time to see who else is in on Operation: Deku Alone?? or not so alone for that matter
omg
HI HAWKS, WHERE ARE YOUR WINGS
(ETA: seriously are they really gone for good?? why would he even be back on active duty then?? does he have his own American ex-boyfriend who can hook him up with exclusive support items?? dammit Horikoshi we want answers.)
looks like Jeanist and Endeavor are teaming up as well, just like they said they would. I would gladly follow this trio around all day long tbh
is this the same giant villain from the very first chapter??
looks like it to me, and it would tie in with that callback from the end of chapter 306. we all thought that was Muscular, but maybe it was this guy, and Deku left these three to deal with him while he ran off to take Muscular down
oh my god now Deku is running off again just like that
kids these days
ffffff I have not had nearly enough sleep to follow along with whatever tf Hawks is talking about here sob
like, is he trying to say that All Might is keeping Deku’s whereabouts unknown to anyone except for him?? in order to keep him safe?? but Hawks is pointing out that that’s a bad strategy and probably won’t do shit against AFO and it’s better if he lets Deku work with the rest of them?
(ETA: so @hanashimas’ translation makes a lot more sense -- it’s not All Might who’s being overprotective, but Deku. in other words he’s trying not to drag All Might into his battles. and in addition Hawks is saying that their strategy is to take the offensive and go after AFO themselves rather than wait for him to come to them. which I’m not too sure about myself, but that’s another topic for another day.)
btw I can’t help thinking how much better this entire conversation would be if All Might was still wearing his sunglasses. put them back on my dude. it’s not too late. embrace your inner badass
DKLJSLDKFJL FLASHBACK ALERT, FUCKING FINALLY
“turns out, we were just trying to scare you straight. fuck lot of good that did though lol”
also what is this. one true love: the hospital bed. is that a scanlator joke or is Horikoshi actually that funny omg
SKLJDFLJLK
ITSA ME!! omg I love this hospital so much. though it’s sure not helping me in my quest to try and keep this post below ten images. I’m already up to eleven haha r.i.p. to me if tumblr doesn’t get its shit together
whaaaaaat, so he’s saying that Deku’s injuries were external (i.e. Tomura beating the shit out of him) rather than internal this time?? whaaaaat. excuse me but that’s some bullshit lmao. believe me, I was there
okay now he’s going on to explain that Deku’s “internal structure” seems to have been protected from the inside and out, and the corresponding panel seems to be implying that using Blackwhip as a brace paid off. huh
and also that his body is just stronger now?? so I guess he’s better able to withstand the quirk after an additional year of training?? I’M NOT SURE IF I BUY ANY OF THIS LOL but I’m willing to suspend my disbelief
OH MY GOD RED ALERT, INKO IS ASKING ALL MIGHT TO EXPLAIN WTAF DEKU’S QUIRK IS, IS IT FINALLY THAT TIME OMGGGG
SO HE’S EXPLAINING IT TO HER OFF-SCREEN, AND INKO IS JUST LIKE
I GUESS THAT’S FAIR LOL. IT’S TRUE INKO I’M SO SORRY, YOUR SON IS A PROGATONIST R.I.P.
AHHKKJH DEKU ANGST IS IT FINALLY THAT TIME OMGGGGGG
what is this soft pop beat that’s suddenly being pumped in over the speakers. I’VE GOT TO MOVE ON~ AND BE WHO~ I~ AM~~~, I JUST DON’T BELONG HERE, I HOPE YOU UNDERSTAAAAAAAND. also, follow-up question, when is Kacchan finally going to come back so he can jump in with the “WHAT ABOUT US~~~” bridge, huh. come the fuck on, Horikoshi
lmao All Might jesus christ
but given that it’s a stupid-ass decision...
anyway, yes!! finally that sweet, sweet “I don’t want to put anyone else in danger” angst!!
mmm that’s good angst Brent. Kacchan with center panel honors as usual, you love to see it. anyways though who do I have to yell at to get Deku a goddamn HUG around here seriously
so Inko is of course reacting with panic, and sensibly saying that she doesn’t approve of Deku’s “RUN AWAY AND FIGHT THE BAD GUYS ALL ON MY OWN, DON’T WORRY MOM I’LL JUST GET STRONGER, EASY AS PIE, IT’S A FOOLPROOF STRATEGY” plan
son of a bitch this manipulative green asshole is really gonna sit here and smile fondly at his mom and try to convince her that he’s Not A Little Kid Anymore. the hell you’re not mister
y'all are really just gonna sit there and let him talk you into this?? surely it can’t be that easy??
OH MY GOD
THE FEELS oh my god oh my god. BUT ALSO YOU’RE SERIOUSLY JUST GOING TO COLLAPSE INTO HIS ARMS SOBBING AND LET HIM DO WHATEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS LKJLJLFK. WHERE ARE ALL THE STRICT PARENTS AT?? AIZAWA, GANG ORCA, MITSUKI, SOMEONE PLEASE COME AND TELL DEKU TO SIT HIS ASS THE FUCK DOWN. NOW LISTEN HERE YOUNG MAN!!
“EVEN IF I TRY TO STOP YOU YOU’LL STILL LEAVE” WELL SURE, IF BY “TRY TO STOP HIM” YOU MEAN POLITELY TRY TO TALK HIM OUT OF IT FOR THREE SECONDS. HE’S SIXTEEN WTF WHEN DID HE BECOME THE BOSS OF YOU ALL. SOMEONE NEEDS TO COME AND TELL HIM HE’S GROUNDED
anyway sob so that’s the story of how Deku talked his parents into letting him drop out of school, and even convinced All Might to be his own personal Guy In The Chair. holy shit. this kid really went and rolled a nat 20 and the rest of them had no choice but to fold without argument
meanwhile here’s a panel of Best Jeanist trying to braid his phone into his hair just cuz
I’m dying to know which part of his language he considers to be crude here. you literally didn’t even use a contraction my guy
so now flashback!Deku is talking to Gran in the dark, and Gran is all “can you believe I’m not fucking dead yet lol that’s too funny. anyway, you sure I can’t interest you in killing Tomura after all?? no?? okay then here’s my cape.” truly a heartwarming scene
I’m kind of torn here tbh. on the one hand, my adhd ass wasn’t all that interested in sitting down and having an extended scene between these two when there’s so much else that I want to get to. but on the other hand, even I can admit that cramming this entire reunion into a single page seems just a BIT rushed. idk. like maybe someone can let Horikoshi know it’s a marathon and not a race. Deku didn’t even get any dialogue here, some of us want to know his thoughts!! but anyway
AND JUST LIKE THAT?!
how did all four of them let him con them into this. I literally just watched it happen and I still can’t figure out how. “I GUESS THIS SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT IS OUR LEADER NOW” ffflfjf. when Aizawa finds out he’s gonna go apeshit. AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON BAKUGOU KATSUKI, WHO I HAVE BEEN ASSURED DOES IN FACT STILL EXIST. WHAT ABOUT USSSSS, WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING WE’VE BEEN THROUGH. WHAT ABOUT TRUST???! YOU KNOW I NEVER WANTED TO HURT YOUUUUU
btw lol don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying this, and I’m honestly glad Deku’s not alone because that would suck for him! but that said, Hawks and Jeanist have lost any credibility they might have once had as far as being The Responsible Ones, and as for All Might and Endeavor, fucking hell lol. everyone just deposited all of their fucks in a bank somewhere for safekeeping and decided to never look back. godspeed you mad lads

gonna take one for the team and say it: Genshin is slowly singling out f2p and low spenders more and more with every single update and that comes from someone who has spent 180-200€ on this game from April 2021 til late November 2021.
When I started the game all the gacha (aside from in-game things like artifacts and drops) was where the characters. All you had to fear was losing a 50/50 and either grinding like hell if you were still low AR or spend money. Not every 5-star instantly game with their signature weapon and usually the difference between power levels of 4-stars, craftable and other 5-Stars didn’t differ much. You were good to go in most cases. Lastly, there were no outfits you had to pay.
It’s good that Mihoyo is constantly evolving and adding things to Genshin, for example the signature weapons usually fit the character’s aesthetic and just look so much cooler, they’re 100% tailored to their playstyle and kit - in fact I have such one as well. Ever since the archipelago I have been excited for new skins to show up as well and this time my favourite female character is even part of it - couldn’t get better, right?
Well there is the issue we’ve been adressing to mihoyo from time to time but seem to forget something flashly happens and that is the huge difference between available primogems and new gacha content. The gap gets bigger every update and they won’t stop for sure since there’s leaks of the way of obtaining characters being changed mid-2022, especially the standard 5-stars. Majority of people guess that you’ll simply buy them with genesis crystals or a huge amount of primogems.
I’m not new to gacha. I’ve plenty of games and even currently I play some other gachas next to Genshin Impact. Gacha’s cruel, but there’s alsways something that balances it out. Either you have high drop rates, low pities but it’s hard to grind the currency, or it’s the other way around. Another famous option are tickets randomly coming to the game throughout events which makes you able to buy characters - something that has never once been mentioned in Genshin anyway.
What I’m trying to say is that it’s great how Mihoyo’s developing Genshin and expanding the possibilites, but not changing the drops or the amount of primogems (especially high AR!!) according to the amount of things happening at the same time is just cruel. I broke my own rule and spend a freaking 125€ on a single character - something I had never done before - and told myself: Okay, the only character missing will probably not be coming soon. But behold. Mihoyo doesn’t just suddenly rerun two characters, no let’s have three and let them all be very popular! I was sure about this happening and the more characters we get the more likely it was to become something the game needs - but again: Not making the drops and gems fit the change of the game is terrible.
For example I want the Keqing skin - she was my favourite female character in the game. Due to having bought gems beforehand I would have to spend 20€ on it during the limited-time offer and 30€ afterwards. I’m thinking of just gifting it to myself, since my birthday is in the middle of 2.4 as well. But, in the back of my mind I’m just thinking Zhongli’s the only character I still need but I didn’t think he’d be coming back so soon so what do I do
I’m sure a lot of people would feel way more generous if the drops and primogems were according to the development of things to get within the game. I’m already completely ignoring signature weapons ever since getting one for my main and i’m still stressed. 2.4 looks amazing and if they don’t pull an inazuma on us it will be amazing, but I can’t help but feel nothing but being upset with this.
#flame me all you want but thats my opinion#I'll be honest if i wouldnt have joined april 2021 but say april 2022 and see the current state i wouldve probably dropped it#and i would probably drop genshin and become extremly casual if i wouldnt have spend so much#i'm upset at myself#genshin impact#2.4

Can you make this with sick Steve “Can you pronounce anything correctly right now?” “Ndo. *sniff* See???”
Eeep, so sweet! Pls imagine this in a non-powered au with professor!Steve and Tony who has his Stark Industries work thingie💖
Between meetings that have run too long and several overdue deadlines that he finally caught up with, Tony is more than ready to declare it the end of his work week even though it’s only Thursday. Pepper had shot him one glance and nearly winced at how exhausted he had looked after that last meeting and then decided to let him off until Monday.
And for that, Tony is truly grateful, because it means that he can have a lie in the next morning. It subsequently means that he will be fully energized for date night with Steve tomorrow evening and not have a million things hanging over his head, distracting him from spending time with his boyfriend for the first time in what feels like forever.
While Tony has been caught up in business with Stark Industries, Steve has spent the majority of every day, and probably most nights, too, grading his students’ assignments or preparing for his lectures, and from what Tony has been able to detect through Steve’s texts, he’s just about as ready for the weekend as Tony is.
***
The next morning, Tony wakes up late, as expected. What is the point of having a day off if you can’t sleep until noon anyways?
He checks his phone first thing and is excited to see a text from Steve. His excitement plummets when he reads it, though.
Hey, Tony. I think I’m gonna need a rain check for tonight. I’ve come down with something and I don’t want you catching this. I was really looking forward to seeing you, though… miss you.
Tony’s heart sinks a little in sympathy, but also because he really misses Steve. They haven’t seen each other all week. Tony can’t even remember the last time they spent more than three days apart, but they’ve both been so busy with work that they didn’t have the time. Hence they had planned date night once both of them were off work.
Aww, I’m sorry you’re feeling bad, baby. I miss you too. So much. We don’t have to go out, though, we can just stay at yours and eat take out and watch movies. I won’t even tease you when you inevitably fall asleep on me half way through.
Tony sends the message and gets a reply less than two minutes after.
First of all, I don’t fall asleep on you. Secondly, you really don’t have to come. Not that I don’t want you here, I do, but I’m pretty gross and 100% contagious. Trust me, you don’t want this.
Tony can’t help but smile to himself as he imagines Steve curled up on his couch, wrapped in a million blankets, blonde hair all messy and disheveled and his nose and cheeks flushed pink. How could Steve think he would ever want not to be with him when he’s like that?
I don’t mind, Steve. I miss you and I want you to feel better. I’m coming over, okay?
You do fall asleep on me, by the way, but I’ll pretend you don’t since you’re sick.
Placing his phone on the beside table, Tony gets up and immediately starts pulling his clothes on. He’ll need to go the store to grab a few things before heading to Steve’s place, like the super soft tissues Steve never buys for himself, and probably some more tea as well.
Tony is just about to leave his apartment when Steve responds after a couple minutes of silence.
Okay. Thank you, Tony. I love you.
Warmth flooding in his chest, Tony types out a quick reply before turning the door knob and going out the door.
I love you. Leaving now, see you in a bit.
***
Tony doesn’t even bother knocking as he lets himself into Steve’s apartment. It’s basically his apartment as much as it’s Steve’s, really, if you look at how much time he spends there in comparison to his penthouse.
It’s not that he doesn’t like his own place, because he does. It’s luxurious, it gets cleaned twice a week, and it’s large enough to fit all of Tony’s crap, which is objectively a lot.
Steve’s apartment is different. It’s smaller, and older, and could definitely use an overhaul in a few places, but it exudes warmth and comfort and feels homey in a way Tony’s place at the tower never could, which is probably why they spend most of their time at Steve’s.
Sometimes Tony wonders why they haven’t moved in together after being together for nearly three years, but maybe they’re just not there yet. And it’s not like it would change a whole lot, honestly. The only time they spent apart is on weeks like this one where both of them are too busy and caught up in their own things that neither of them have the time to make the short trip from Manhattan to Brooklyn.
Tony knows that he wants to, though. He wants to move in with Steve. Or have Steve move in with him. But that’s a minor detail and doesn’t really matter to Tony. What does matter, though, is that Tony won’t ever have to say goodbye to Steve when he goes back to the tower, and that he gets to slip into bed next to Steve every night regardless of their schedules.
And if they lived together, Tony wouldn’t have to rush from his place to Steve’s to take care of him when he’s sick either, because he’d already be there. Anyway, that’s a discussion for another time. Right now, Tony has other things he needs to take care of. Steve, for one.
Tony toes off his shoes and pads into the kitchen, setting the shopping bags on the counter. He might’ve gone a bit overboard and bought an excessive amount of sick-person-things, but Tony has never claimed not to be over the top, especially when it comes to Steve.
From the kitchen, he can hear the tv playing in the living room room, along with a series of incessant sniffles, and Tony figures Steve has already reached the end of his tissue supply. He grabs a box of Kleenex and heads towards the living room where he finds his boyfriend huddled up on the couch.
An empty mug and countless crumpled tissues litter the coffee table, some are on the floor, too, and Tony instantly thinks it looks like every episode of every bad sit-com he’s ever seen where one of the characters is sick. In the center of it all is Steve, who now has his face buried in the crook of his elbow, eyes narrowed into slits, his expression twisted into an anticipatory frown as his breath wavers. After a few seconds, his eyes close fully and he gives into the rush over sneezes.
“ehhCHshoo! H’uhh—uh! chuh’SHhoo! ehh… EISHhh’oo!”
The last sneeze of the triple is strong enough that Steve’s body snaps slightly forward with it, shoulders visibly tensing.
“Looks like you could use these,” Tony announces his presence, waving the Kleenex in the air, and goes to sit next to Steve on the couch, then drops the fresh box of tissues into Steve’s lap. “Bless you, sweetheart.”
Steve still looks a little taken aback by the sneezes and blinks at Tony a few times to clear away the woozy feeling. When he still hasn’t moved after a few seconds, Tony reaches to pull out a few tissues and hands them to Steve.
“Oh, umb… snff! Hey, Tody… snffSNF! Thangks,” Steve says thickly as he accepts the handful of tissues. “I didn’ evend hear you ged id.”
Tony flashes him a soft smile as he brushes a few strands of blonde hair away from Steve’s forehead. “Yeah, you’re probably all bunged up, hm?”
And he really is. His voice has gone all low and he sounds like he’s breathing through concrete. His nose almost looks swollen, too, what with all the congestion that seems to have settled in his head.
Steve sighs stuffily and nods a little. “Yeah, I’mb, uh… snf! snf! oh, ‘scuse m-mbe— huhh-CHshoo! eiiSHH’uhh!”
Sniffling does nothing to stop the tickle from building, in fact, it just coaxes it out. Steve catches the sneezes in the tissues, both hands steepled over his nose and mouth. He gives an experimental blow afterwards, but that just makes him cough, and he gives a few congested snuffles, then coughs some more.
“S-sorry,” he sighs when Tony blesses him and gives him a concerned look. “I’ve beed sndeezing— SNF! all day, ad I’mb… snf! ugh… I’mb jusd so gross.” Steve looks close to a pout, but he can’t keep his mouth closed for more than a few seconds since his nasal airways are completely blocked and impenetrable.
Tony’s worried frown just deepens. “You sound so sick, honey,” he mumbles, brushing a finger across Steve’s nose, putting a light pressure on the maxillary sinus, then strokes it with his thumb. “Can you pronounce anything correctly tight now?” he asks, only half joking.
It makes Steve chuckle, though, a husky, low sound, but it makes his eyes go soft, and Tony feels himself melt a little.
“Ndo,” Steve replies, proving his point and sniffles again. “See? SNFF!”
Tony can only smile at the self-deprecating tone to Steve’s voice and the bashful expression that crosses his face. His already pink cheeks flush a deeper shade of red, and the smile he gives Tony is bordering on shy. Blue eyes are fully fixed on brown, and despite the glazed look to them, there’s still that distinct sparkle that always appears when he looks at Tony.
After a few seconds of intensely gazing into each other’s eyes, Steve ducks his head and looks away. “Stop,” he laughs when he looks back up to find Tony still staring at him.
“Stop what?”
“I doad snfSNF! kndow… You’re mbaking mbe nervous,” Steve says, rubbing his neck and smiling sweetly. Then, suddenly, Steve wrinkles his nose, his entire face scrunching up in irritation. He scrubs his nose against the back of his wrist before quickly bringing the rest of his arm closer to his face. “h’h’uhh! huhESCHhiiew! snffSnff!”
“God bless you, Steve…” Inching closer, Tony drops a kiss to Steve’s cheek. It’s a little warm, but nothing too bad, at least not yet. This close, he can see how the hairs on Steve’s neck raise as he places another peck on his jaw.
“Just relax, okay?” Tony whispers, and Steve hums contently in reply. “I missed you,” he adds, just because he hasn’t told him in person yet. Somehow, it feels like a confession.
“I missed you, too.” Steve grabs Tony’s hand, linking their fingers together and giving it a tight squeeze.
“I know it’s barely been a week, but I really hate not seeing you every day.”
“I kndow… mbe too,” Steve admits and catches his bottom lip between his teeth. He almost looks uncertain for a second, but then he takes a deep breath, steadying himself. “What if you just… stayed? Here. With me.”
Steve looks a little nervous again, watching Tony’s reaction closely.
And, to be honest, Tony’s nervous, too, all of a sudden. “You mean…?” Tony starts, dumbfounded and eyes wide. Steve’s nodding. Tony swallows around the lump in his throat. “Are you— are you sure?”
“I mbean, you basically live here already. And… sniff! It would be nice. Not having to miss you.”
“Steve…” Tony breathes.
“We don’t have to stay here either… we could… snf! We could stay at the tower, or find somewhere else. Not that— I mbean, if you snf! don’t want to, that’s… that’s fine t—“
“Steve,” Tony repeats, this time more confident. “Yes. Yes, I want to stay here. With you.” Tony’s tone is level as he answers. He doesn’t recall ever being so sure of anything, apart from the fact that he loves Steve above everything else.
“Oh,” Steve says and lets out a relieved chuckle. “Thad’s… great. Amazing, even. I-I’mb…”
“Yeah, me too,” Tony says and leans in to brush his lips over Steve’s. “But let’s celebrate later, okay? Right now, you’re having tea and medicine, and then we’ll put on a movie so you can fall asleep on me.”
Steve rolls his eyes fondly. “I don’t fall asleep on you.”
“Oh, yes you do.”

I did it! Finally fucking did it! I 100% the support log for 3H….Holy shit, that took longer than I was expecting, lol.
(Long rant, so heads up.)
I came in thinking “Oh they finally time-locked the supports, so I don’t have to have the damn cursor mocking me every time I open the menu like in Awakening and Fates, hurr hurr”. No no no no no. At least for Awakening and Fates, it was on my dumb ass for pressing the S-support and saving when I knew I shouldn’t. First off, if they wanted us to regain supports for Byleth in NG+, why the heck are supports for characters like Edelgard, Rhea, Dorothea and Lindhart locked? I don’t mean time-locked like the post-TS supports in a regular playthrough, I mean deadass “you can’t buy this, period” locked. “Oh it’s because you haven’t advanced that far in the story yet”. I can buy post-TS supports for the other characters, what makes El and Rhea exceptions?! The only thing that would be lost is that I don’t have to replay their entire route to get their S-support twice. It’s not like there’s enough differences between Bylad and Bylass to warrant the supports being locked, none of the characters specify a specific gender in their dialogue, and as far as different models go, changing models during a cutscene is coded into the game, so that should be no issue.
After going through the monastery option enough times, the hubworld is in this weird limbo state where it feels like it was made specifically for Byleth’s benefit (faculty training, recruiting party members, etc,) but the rest of the party seems to benefit from it instead (Instructions, Motivation points, etc). The Explore vs Battle options just don’t mix well, which feels like poor design choice. You can focus on auxiliary battles to raise your party’s level, but at the cost of potentially missing out on more party members. You can instead focus on the monastery to recruit party members, but at the cost of Byleth falling behind due to splitting activity points between recruiting and faculty training, and being in the monastery means less time grinding for levels. This isn’t as much of a problem in NG+, but if a game needs NG+ to lessen a design problem, then that’s more of a sign to me that the idea itself needed more ironing out.
As far as using the monastery to raise support points goes, the hubworld definitely needs a revamp. The only (good) options available are Meal Time and Choir Practice, with the latter being limited to once per week and the former making me think that the monastery must eat their own weapons to survive due to how fucking scarce food ingredients are. Getting meat and fish isn’t too big of an issue so long as you have enough money, but produce might as well be an urban legend. There were too many times where I had 60+ fish/meat, but produce was at fucking 1. I get that they wanted to be “realistic” in having seeds grow once per week, but if it’s at the cost of a gameplay element being nigh unplayable, then some more thought needs to be put into it. Sothis is a goddess of life and time, maybe her powers allow Byleth to make plants grow faster. Just something to make this section actually playable.
The final thing I wanted to talk about when it comes to the monastery is that, for some baffling reason, it is entirely possible to lock yourself out of key events like S-supports or being able to choose CF, simply by skipping to the end of the month. I’m not sure why this is a thing. It’s not like the game was designed with speedruns in mind (I mean, it is possible to beat a route in an hour, but fuck me if I ever succeeded in that), and nothing happens like a prompt popping up that you have to explore the monastery during that month or even limiting your options to just Explore (which the game has done before). This is especially weird for the quest in getting Jeralt’s ring (how to access S-supports), since Byleth is supposed to be sad in this month, so not being able to do seminars or Byleth being undeployable during auxiliary battles would make sense.
The option to choose CF is even worse though, because at least for Jeralt’s ring it’s a Red Quest that doesn’t allow you to finish exploring unless you complete it. For Edelgard, however? A dime-a-dozen quest prompt you can entirely look over and skip. No prompt by the game, no indication to talk to Edelgard, nothing. FFS, Rhea’s tea time quest was given more thought. At least her quest marker is a unique color.
(End of rant…sort of)
…So anyways, that was my experience with the game, lmao. Now you or someone else may be thinking, “nonnie, if you had this many problems completing the game, why did you bother?”, and the answer to that good question is…I’m not completely sure, lol. I know there’s more than one reason why, so bear with me here. I know part of it is due to sunk-cost fallacy (“I’m already this far into the game, I might as well fully complete it”), but I think a bigger reason is because I knew ahead of time that the routes were so similar to each other that there was little point in having a route split to begin with (except for CF, but who gives a fuck about that?). Despite all of my bitching, I do really like 3H even if I admit that it’s my least favorite FE game that I’ve played so far. I guess a part of me just wanted to like the game more despite my issues with it.
Now that I think about it, maybe the main reason was for fear of future mainline games. People are fear to like whatever part of a game that they wish, but I do think that 3H introduced some fundamental storytelling flaws that I’d rather not see repeated in the future, with me focusing on 3 in particular: 1) The Monastery, 2) Route Splits and 3) Byleth.
Aside from what I already talked about in regards to the monastery, if we are going to get another hubworld in the new FE title, have it to where it doesn’t conflict with how the rest of the story is presented. Is it better to simply tell us that the Western Church is xenophobic in an easily skippable side quest early on, or is it better to show us? Enemy Western Church NPCs going after foreign party members like Dedue or Petra more aggressively and calling them “animals” or the like, the map having Duscari NPCs locking themselves indoors for fear that the Western Church will persecute them, things of that nature. Is it better to tell us that there has been civil unrest in the Empire and the citizens revolting against Edelgard, or is it better to show us? Enemy Adrestian Civilian NPCs, assassins specifically going after Edelgard in a map, maybe one where a large farmland has been stripped bare. Things like that.
I’d rather do away with the Persona-calendar/Monastery hubworld, but if they are here to stay then they need enough content in it to keep the player engaged for 20-odd chapters, because there isn’t enough content in Garreg Mach to even hold up 12 chapters. Speaking of more content, if there’s going to be another route split in the next title, then there needs to be enough differences in the routes that actually warrants having a route split. Fates already did this well in having the route split be early in the game, along with the plot and story maps of each route being different, you could even skip to the route split moment on subsequent playthroughs, so 3H’s approach in having to play the same 12 chapters 3-4 times just felt like a massive downgrade. Playing multiple routes should feel rewarding rather than tedious, is what I’m trying to say.
Finally, and most importantly, I know that no one at IS is reading this but on the off chance that someone is - please, for the love of God, do not make another blank-slate/self insert main character like Byleth. Or at the very least, don’t have them be the focal point of the story, it’s a big reason why AM just works better than the other routes. For a game like FE, “self-insert” and “protagonist” goes as well as oil and water. Now, out of those three flaws listed, the Byleth one is what I’m hard set on. The monastery and route split flaws, my opinion might be flexible within reason, but the Byleth one…not so much, lol. If we really do get another self-insert doll for a main character, that alone is going to make the next game a hard sell for me, because seeing all the praise Byleth got (and has been getting) makes me fear that IS is going to take the wrong lesson from this and think they don’t have to put effort in making their protagonist anything resembling an actual person and their audience will still lap it up. It would be one thing if I just hated the character, but I don’t. I’m disappointed, which is even worse.
…With that said, it’s still better than whatever the heck Cap’n’Crunch is doing. Okay, rant over. For real this time.
—
I agree with a lot said here! But I do have a few disagreements, though they’re mostly my opinion than anything else lol
And this first one is probably like, extremely unpopular given how much shit I’ve seen flung at this aspect of 3H, but like… I actually really like the Monastery? Like yes, absolutely, it should have done more to not shelter the player from how bad the war is and it should change more with the world instead of being in this mostly limbo state where apparently seasons don’t real. I definitely also have those complaints, but to me, the Monastery was fine for the most part. A lot of the issues you brought up, like supports and Faculty Training and supplies for eating, weren’t a problem for me almost at all. My only real gripe is with how hard it is for Byleth to get training in Flying, Mounted and especially Heavy Armor without NG+ unlocking weapons ranks, since they don’t have access to Weekly Chores. I do believe I still managed to recruit everyone while only unlocking C in Faith on my Maddening playthrough of GD, but it certainly wasn’t easy. But I feel a lot of the problem people have with it are on subsequent playthroughs where they’re trying to do things like 100% any aspect of 3H, which yeah is gonna exacerbate the issues tenfold. Cuz like, while those three weapons ranks I mentioned are hard for Byleth to raise, on Normal mode you have unlimited auxiliary battles to help with all the other ones.
Like, I wanted to get Claude’s Dex to the max amount right? Just cuz I felt like it. And in doing that I found out just how tedious it is to get levels once a unit gets to a certain point, just cuz while Normal Mode gives you the Retreat option that lets you keep exp so you can drop a unit down on a yellow spot and get a decent boost in exp… you can do that like, twice or thrice on a story chapter. Once if it’s auxiliary (and not the freebie one). And that’s if you even have internet. And using the greenhouse to get Ailiell Pomegranates was a pain because they weren’t really guaranteed even if I used nothing but the right seed - doing that is more consistent, but not always, and I usually only got one anyway. It was annoying! But I was also doing a specific thing that’s gonna heighten the flaws in the system that I never would have noticed - didn’t even notice - unless I did that. The flaws are still there, don’t get me wrong! The Monastery definitely still needs improvement, battles still need to be a little more streamlined for future playthrough, but the flaws can seem a bit bigger than they are once you do certain things outside of a casual playthrough, know what I mean?
But, for example, when replaying 3H on hard mode and looking to recruit everyone after my no recruitment run, I didn’t come across any dilemma over “recruitment or Byleth being good, pick one.” That was the run my Byleth was usable, in fact - my first blind run that was no recruitment (save for Shamir) had my Byleth be pretty much completely useless while literally everyone else was fine. Also never came across problems with supplies for cooking (or at least not any big enough to comment on). So like, while these (and the above stuff) can certainly be problems for players trying to do everything everything in 3H, at least from my experience I just haven’t come across them. The monastery itself definitely needed a better story implementation, but yeah. I could’ve just been lucky tho lmao
I don’t mind how they implemented trying to get on CF at all tho lol. If you’ve been playing the game like it suggests you do - supporting characters and exploring the monastery there’s no reason for players to have missed getting on CF. If players wanted to ignore one of the biggest aspects of the game I don’t really feel that bad for them when they miss out on very achievable things. Plus, CF’s requirements are nothing in terms of FE’s madness when it comes to getting on a route. It may be more specific than any other route, but like I said, playing the game as the game tells you to would naturally land you in it (the only thing that might be a bit unfair is that I think if you talk with Edelgard at all that month you have to decide right then and there, and then the whole month is lost. Kinda ass).
Binding Blade, for example, requires you to do specific things that few first time players would think to do in multiple, random chapters in order for you to get the best ending. With absolutely no warning as to when these chapters happen and what to do in them. And some of these requirements are not fun lmao, I’d prefer how they did it with CF than with how they’ve handled ~secret~ stuff before personally
Pretty much agree with everything else though! While 3H is actually one of my more favored games in the series, I’ll be the first to admit that its storytelling is in dire need of improvement. Having the story and lore of the game just be spat out in lore dumps and this or that NPC just isn’t that good. Or if they are going to do that, at the very least give some visuals to go along with it! Imagine how much impactful Rhea’s story would have been if it was in a visual format, like CGs and/or a cutscene. It still would be an info dump, but at least we can see for ourselves how horrific the Red Canyon was for her! And I do not want another avatar in whatever next mainline game we get, personality or not. We’ve evolved past the need for self-inserts that all the characters Just Like lmao
But thanks for sharing your thoughts!! And sorry that it took so long for me to get to answering ;w;
#submission#anon#exqueuese me princess#but hey I found the og submission at least!! for some reason it got thrown in like the middle of my drafts?? weird lmao#but yeah overall I do think 3H could've done with some refinement for later more intensive playthroughs#and on the other hand I get why they didn't immediately think of them if that makes sense#also lol yeah the base game is infinitely more fun that whatever Cap'n'n doin' lmao

Jumin x MC fairytale AU? 👀🙏
AHH sure thing! I love this, and sorry for taking long I couldn't come up with anything until 12am lmao
Jumin Fairytale AU:
The queen had gone missing. It had been years, but no one had found any trace of her. Everyone, even the king had given up.
One day, you suddenly found a strange note on your door. It was a letter, with a weird eye shape on it. You were very confused, but curious nonetheless, so you decided to open it.
"If you want to find your queen, come to the address below." It said. Well that was ominous, and very suspicious. Yet...you couldn't help but feel a weird sort of force pulling you towards it, towards the adventure.
You were the only child of an old, retired knight, and you lived in a cabin in the woods. Your father had gotten sick and died a few years ago, and you could barely buy any food with what little money he left you.
You had to find a few jobs, maybe as a knight, just like your father, but they wouldn't accept you. It sucked, and you had to make do with the jobs they gave you.
But it was your dream to become a knight. And what better way to show your skills, than to find the queen herself? You knew that the reward money was something that could really help you, and hey, why not kill two birds with one stone? Become a knight and earn a bunch of money, that didn't sound half bad.
So that exact night you left and made your way towards the address written on the letter. It was definitely a long way, but you were confident that you would make it.
The first few days nothing much happened, you ate tiny pieces of food and water to make it last the whole journey, but it still wasn't enough, and soon enough you had been left with only a tiny bit of water and a small piece of bread.
To make matters worse, the next village was still a few days away in horse.
Welp guess you're gonna die. You had a good run.
You tried to accept your fate to be worm food, but before you could continue imagining your death you suddenly heard a few shouts and the sound of swords clashing.
You decided to go and see what was going on, maybe try to get in on the fight. After all, you felt it was 100 times better to die in an epic sword fight than starving in a creepy forest.
When you made your way to the sound....well you definitely didn't expect to see a really good looking, nicely dressed guy with the sword, standing in front of a....cat. Yes, a cat. From....gangsters? Thieves?
You were about to leave the place, after doing a double take on the handsome man of course, when one of the thieves seemed to notice you and immediately tried to stab you with a dagger.
Rude.
Of course, you immediately beat the guy into a pulp, soon enough beating down the other three, who had wanted to avenge their knocked out friend. The thing was, at one point, you and the handsome guy started fighting the thieves together. You didn't really understand why, but the two of you were actually really fucking good as a team.
Finally the thieves realized that they were going to loose no matter what so they decided to leave you and the handsome man alone. The two of you stood panting, but didn't really say anything else, until the guy turned to look at you.
"I believe I must thank you for helping me. No matter how good I am with a sword, I don't think I would've been able to handle all of them alone."
"Yeah you tell me. Why did you get into a fight with those guys anyway? Were they trying to rob you?"
The guy looked at the ground and then sighed, a bit of colour appearing in his cheek. "I was....protecting someone."
Immediately after he said that, the most adorable cat came out from behind the man and he blushed even harder, making you laugh.
"So you almost died because....you wanted to protect a cat?"
"I don't understand why you think it's funny, it's a completely reasonable response to want to protect an animal, especially a cat if you see a group of people harassing it." He said, with a completely serious expression on his face that only made you smile more.
"Well...I guess I can respect that....still don't understand why you'd want to get killed for it tough...anyway, I'm Y/N. What are you doing on this part of the forest? Is it a normal thing for you rich people to go out at night and protect cats from the dangers of the forest or something?"
The man blinked in surprise, clearly taken aback for a few seconds before shaking his head. "No. I'm here on a quest to...to find an old friend. I just happened to be passing by when I saw those guys threatening the cat. My name is Jumin. Jumin Han, pri-"
"Wait you're THE Jumin Han?? The prince!? What- what the hell are you doing here, WAIT why are you even telling me your name and status like that, for all you know I could, I don't know, kill you and steal your clothes or something!"
"Is it not usual for commoners to present themselves like that?"
You furiously shook your head. "No! How long have you been out here? I'm surprised you haven't been robbed yet."
"I have." He said nonchalantly.
"You....WHAT?!"
"A few days ago I met a few thieves on the way, they didn't steal everything though since I managed to make a deal with them."
"...HOW?"
"I've been learning how to negotiate my whole life, although some people also say that the biggest reason they agree to make deals with me is because of my charisma and good looks."
"How are you even still alive...?"
He shrugged. "If I may change the subject. I want to thank you for saving me and...my friend back there. Is there anyway I could pay you back?"
You raised your eyebrow but started thinking of anything this guy could give you that could be useful. I mean you were starving so maybe some food would be nice?
Jumin nodded after you told him what you wanted, a bit surprised you hadn't asked for more, and made his way to his horse, which was a few feet away from the two of you. You still couldn't help the smile on your face as you saw Jumin take the cat and put her in one of his big bags, only her white fluffy head poking out from it. As you watched Jumin take out what was left of his stuff, you noticed a paper fall out from his front pocket, and you decided to pick it up. You let out a gasp. That paper....it was just like the one you had gotten in your home. It said something different of course, but before you could read it Jumin took it away from your hands and shoved it in his pocket.
"I'd prefer it if you wouldn't read personal things without getting any permission first. I can give you a bit of food to last until you make it to the village up north...do you have any money?"
You shook your head and Jumin took a small knife out of his pockets and proceeded to slash open some pants he had kept in some of his bags. He quickly handed them to you and asked, "is this enough? That could last you to buy food for at least a month. Now that I have paid you back, I believe I must go. Thank you once again for helping me."
He got on his horse, but before he could leave you stepped in front of it with your arms spread. "Wait!!!" You yelled.
The horse almost had a heart attack and Jumin almost fell down, making him glare at you. "Stepping in front of a moving horse is dangerous. What were you thinking? Besides, I've already thanked you for your help, so we're even. I don't understand why you would need to suddenly stop me like that."
"The paper." You said, making Jumin raise an eyebrow.
"What about it?"
"It's....it's got a weird eye logo on it right? And it talked about....about finding someone....the queen?"
Jumin's eyes widened and he got down from his horse, making his way towards you. He narrowed his eyes, his voice and expression cold. "How and why do you know about the contents of this letter? Don't tell me...are you working for them?" He was about to grab his sword and take it out but you gave a little help and quickly tried to get the piece of paper from your pocket, making JUMIN stop dead in his tracks.
"I got one too! It said it was about finding the queen....Lady Rika right? I...I don't exactly know who gave it to me, or why, but one day I found it in my doorstep and well...I didn't really have anything to do."
"Can I....can I see it?" He asked, and you slowly nodded, handing him the paper. Jumin's expression turned to one of surprise and shock, gripping the paper tightly. He looked as if he wanted to cry, but before you could say anything he cleared his throat and regained his composure.
"I see. I am very sorry for almost fighting you, I didn't know if you were related to this group or not. Your letter...it had directions. Mine doesn't. It's clear the person wanted you to meet them there, maybe even see the queen, but why they would send you I don't understand. I don't remember you having any relationship with her."
*Well yeah you could say that. Umm, maybe the letter was meant for my dad, he used to be a knight in the palace but he changed jobs as soon as I was born. He passed away a few years ago. Maybe the weird person wanted him to come instead? They probably didn't realize he was dead."
"I am...very sorry about your loss. But you're right, if your father was a knight, and one that worked with the queen specifically, I could see why they would send him the letter. They probably wanted him to be the one meeting them there."
You nodded and then quickly took the letter back from JUMIN, making him look up at you in surprise.
"My...uh...prince. It's clear that we both have the same objective, that is, finding the queen. I have directions for this specific place...it's obvious they didn't intend for us to suddenly meet. So how about we make a deal?"
He raised his eye brow. "A deal...hmm....go on."
You smiled and clapped your hands together. "Well you see my dear prince, I could do the honor of bringing you to the plac! I could be, in a way, your guide. You'll definitely find some clues about the queen there, or who knows! Maybe that's where they've been keeping her! What do you say?"
Jumin placed a hand on his chin and looked at you quizzically. "And what would you like in return. If you were only aiming for the reward money you could've easily gotten the queen by yourself, no need to get me involved. So what exactly do you want?"
"Excellent question your highness! What I want is to be a knight. An actual knight. And once this mission is done, if you come and promote me or whatever, I could end up being one! Just like my father."
"You want me to make you a knight...that doesn't sound too hard, I do know a few people who could squeeze you in the group...alright deal. You guide me to the queen, ans I give you a position as a knight."
"Awesome!!! Now we just need to get going! And a few rules, before we go. You have to promise me that you'll make me a knight. Promise me." You said. Jimin looked at you, directly in the eye, and then nodded. "I promise that after all of this I will do everything in my power to make you a knight."
"Pinky promise?" You smirked. Bt JUMIN only looked at you puzzled. "Uhm....do you know what a pinky promise is exactly?"
He shook his head and you had to try so hard not to laugh. His confused expression when he saw you offering your pinky was the most adorable thing ever. You but your lip and tried to explain as best as you could, what q pinky promise was and how it worked.
"I see...so if I break it I'll have to chop my finger off?" He asked.
"Oh, uh well we don't have to go to that extreme. But you cannot break the promise!"
"Alright. Since you are talking about rules then I'll add a few more." You nodded. "First of all....you can call me just Jumin. We don't need the formalities and it'd be refreshing to have someone call me my by name for once. Second, you have to swear your life to Elizabeth the third."
....
"Excuse me?" You asked.
"Elizabeth the third."
"Yeah but uh, who is that??"
Jimin quickly turned around and pointed at his bag, and as if on cue, the cat that was in there poked its head out and meowed.
"You...you called your cat Elizabeth...the third?"
"Is there anything wrong with that name? It was the same as my great grandmother's and a personal favorite of mine "
"The name is pretty but...don't you think it's too fancy for a cat?"
Jumin immediately looked as if he was about to take out his sword once again and hit you with it, but he also looked as if he was about to break down and give you a lecture of 4 hours as to why the cat should have a fancy name, and you did NOT have the time to listen to that.
"Oh actually, uhm, J...Jimin?"
"Jumin."
"Uh yes gesundheit. I actually understand completely, Elizabeth is a beautiful name for a...uh...cat. So why don't we get moving? The queen isn't, you know going to appear by us sitting here discussing pet names. Let me just quickly go and get my horse!" And so you slithered away before Jumin could say anything else.
The two of you got everything ready, and you quickly took off to the north, where the queen was supposed to be located.
Then, as you rode through the forest, Jumin looked at you as if he wanted to say something, but then he kept closing his mouth. And then he opened it again and closed it. It kept going until you grew tired of it and asked what was up.
"I just....I feel like we haven't talked about how you don't like Elizabeth's name. Cats are very elegant creatures, who definitely deserve more praise."
Did Jumin spend the next two hours talking about cats? Yes, yes he did.
But the whole time you couldn't help smiling. This was definitely going to be one interestinf trip.
OH boi
Anyway tell if if y'all would like a part 2 pfttt I swear I could write a whole novel on this!
It was actually really fun and I L O V E D writing Jumin, although I've got no idea if I captured him perfectly!

Just want to say I love your blog. Your TUA content is lovely and I can't say what a breath of fresh air it is to find another Luther champion. The fandoms treatment of him, istg, some of the most ludacris nonsense I've ever had to read. Especially love how you point out he's ALWAYS been so sweet and selfless when it comes to Allison and her personal happiness. Anyway I saw you say you seem confident alluther will actually happen. I sure hope so, but why do you figure? The antis are so loud.
Awwwww, thank you anon, you’re so sweet! Yeah, this blog is on 24/7 loving Luther lockdown! I feel like the antis are easing up a little bit after S2 aired because most of Luther’s scenes were used as comedic relief and the faves he was clashing with (Diego and Vanya) seem to have a better relationship with him now, so it’s not as bad anymore, but I have to admit I never ever go into the main tag so I can’t be 100% sure.
Maybe you should try looking through the ‘Luther Protection Squad’ tag to find some more like-minded people? I swear there are more of us out there!
But to come to the Alluther question:
I know that the antis are loud and I’ve noticed that most of them have counted S2 as a win for them, talking about how Allison ‘moved on’ and how Alluther won’t happen but I disagree (and I will now launch into a rambly post about why lmao).
WARNING: CONTAINS S2 SALT. PROCEED WITH CAUTION
All of this is based on the assumption though that they will be somewhat consistent in their writing regarding Alluther and S2 taught me that that isn’t very likely, so maybe I’m completely wrong and Alluther will never ever be mentioned in S3, but based on what happened so far, I could see them as an endgame couple.
I mean in S1 they were a pretty big plot point so I don’t think I have to say anything about that but even though the Alluther scenes have been toned down in S2 they were there.
Let’s see what antis would say about why Alluther won’t happen:
Allison is married
And? Allison has been married before and still mentioned comparing every man she ever loved/dated to Luther. Allison has been married and she has had a kid with another guy and still Alluther was going strong.
Not to mention that the end of this season has made it very clear we won’t see Raymond again.
Raymond (and Sissy) are temporary love interests for this particular season and both of them cannot leave their timeline without majorly fucking things up - at least according to Five, but the whole timetravel rules can change at the drop of a hat - but more importantly, both of them had a talk with their respective lovers about wanting to stay in their timeline.
So unless Allison will return to the 60s (which doesn’t seem likely tbh), Raymond is gone for good.
Raymond was her true love tho! Like Klave!
I don’t think antis actually word it like this but I’ve noticed how all of them hopped onto the Almond train immediately and keep gushing about how good and cute they are and that’s great! You can ship what you wanna ship! But I think a lot of the love for this ship has to do with how it prevents Alluther from happening. If Allison is deeply in love with this wholesome man, she can’t ever like her brother.
But tbh….I didn’t buy Almond. For two people who are happily married they crumble and burn awfully fast.
And tbh, I was thinking about making a post about this so I’m gonna add this rant here but I just wanna preface this with the fact that I don’t hate them and I don’t hate people who ship them, I’m just….using this opportunity to poke some hole into their relationship.
I think it would’ve been more believable if Raymond and Allison would be in the early stages of dating while all of S2 goes down. Think about it.
They are married? After one year? I mean, as far as I know, Allison has been in the 60s for about two years - since Luther was the first one who arrived and he spent 3 years there??? But I am not fact-checking this, so correct me if I’m wrong - so she had time to get used to being there, adjust to having no voice, meet Raymond, fall in love with him and get married to him.
And considering she could already talk again it must’ve have been a while before she started talking to/dating Raymond? I don’t think a wound like that wouldn’t take a while to heal but with this show’s consistency, maybe it did.
I was actually hoping Allison would stay mute for a while longer but alas
So, they got married pretty fast imo, and you could argue that it’s the 60s but
Allison isn’t from the 60s
Allison just got out of a bad marriage. There’s like, a year?? maybe?? between her first marriage and her second one and tbh, I don’t think Allison would get married again so fast, tying herself to someone again almost immediately, especially if you consider what getting married in the 60s means for a woman and her personal freedom (it’s hinted at with Sissy but not with Allison and even though Raymond was probably a good husband who let her have her freedom and her say in things - as we can see with their movement - it’s still the 60s. Women couldn’t earn their own money. They couldn’t even spend any money without having to ask their husband. They were basically property of their husband and I can’t believe Allison would immediately jump back into being married, no matter how nice and good the guy is).
“That just means it’s true love! That’s why their marriage may seem rushed!”
Yeah true love. I also keep secrets from my true love.
I mean, I understand that Allison couldn’t start talking about time travel or Raymond would’ve started thinking she’s crazy or something - and maybe would’ve sent her to a mental institution as is his right as a husband, so good idea getting married! - but she didn’t mention stuff like “I had a child.” or “I lost my family.” either and those are vague enough to not raise questions.
I mean, she could’ve lied! She could’ve said Claire is dead, which considering the apocalypse was what they were escaping is true!
She could’ve talked about how she had a family, but they kinda lost each other - maybe talking about how they all moved away and she doesn’t know where they are now, even though she misses them terribly.
I mean, I simply can’t believe that she had to grief for her own child all on her own and she didn’t even tell her husband (and she couldn’t even properly be sad about it since Raymond and her lived together, so she probably didn’t have many moments where she could think about the future and the things she lost without the possibility of being walked in on).
And how much it would’ve meant if there would’ve been a scene of her crying over Claire when she thinks she’s alone, but alas.
Then there’s also the whole added drama to their relationship. Which was btw, so unnecessary.
@showwriters: Why do you establish a relationship you obviously want to be viewed as full of love and instead of letting it be the steady rock the character can lean on during all the already ongoing chaos, you add drama to it and let it fall apart as a side plot which immensely suffers from not being shown/explored enough.
I mean, we already have relationship drama with Vanya/Sissy and that relationship feels more natural because their obstacles are outside forces and not...one of them distrusting the other.
You know, I get why Raymond is suspicious, I totally do! I just don’t think it makes the relationship believable.
Once again, if they would’ve been in the early stages of dating and suddenly Allison’s weird brothers appear and she seems to be in cahoots with the cops, I would also think ‘???’ and it would’ve made perfect sense for Raymond to be confused and distrustful and not want to talk to Allison.
But they’re married. They’re married and they vowed to love each other in sickness and in health and yet Raymond immediately jumps to ‘Allison is a spy’.
The woman you love enough to marry. That’s your first thought. Okay.
(And if you wanna compare that to Vissy...Vanya suddenly drives off in the night to meet her family and disappears for a while and she apparently did something to Harlan and now he’s behaving weirdly and has powers….and she’s talking about taking Sissy and him to the future…..and yet….Sissy trusted Vanya).
And tbh, I was done with their whole relationship the moment Allison spent the whole night calling every single hospital, trying to find out whether her husband was in one of them - was even alive - in tears and close to breaking down because the last time she saw him they were both involved in a riot and the possibility of him being in jail or hurt is very high only to find out…..
…..he had a meeting with their group without telling her because he doesn’t trust her.
And what? He couldn’t have called her to at least tell her he’s okay and he’s gonna stay somewhere else overnight because shady shit did just go down that they need to discuss but he wants to be alone for now? That’s the bare minimum and yet he doesn’t do that. He doesn’t even call to make sure she is okay since running away doesn’t mean she couldn’t have accidentally been dragged into a brawl and hurt.
Once again: They are married.
So tbh, all I got from this relationship is the feeling that Allison simply didn’t wanna be alone in this new timeline and that isn’t an explicit point against Alluther.
Okay, but….Allison moved on! So she still won’t get with Luther!
Did she? Did she really? I don’t think so. I mean, one of the first things we get from Allison aside from ‘She’s married’ is ‘She looks at the moon so often, her husband notices and gets her a book related to that’.
That’s one of the most blatant ways they could’ve said: ‘She misses Luther.’
And Luther only. Not the whole family, Luther. If they wanted to somehow make this platonic or familial, they wouldn’t have taken the character she is canonly interested in romantically (which she is and has been since S1, no matter what antis say).
I mean, if they only wanted to show ‘She misses her family’ they could’ve added a scene where she listens to the kid next door playing the violin or sees a boy in schoolboy shorts or maybe mistakes someone for Diego or whatever, endless possibilities. But they didn’t.
They made it very clear she misses Luther and I don’t think she had a scene that shows her missing any of her other siblings in such a way (which is btw paralleled by the scene where Luther mistakes someone for Allison, which is also the only scene where he’s shown thinking about one of his siblings to the point he thinks he sees them - as far as I remember).
But that’s probably only a coincidence, right?
Then there’s them meeting for the first time. I mean, they hug and the rest of the world disappears.
They took the time to shoot/cut this scene in a way that, when Allison and Luther hug after years of not seeing each other, everyone else isn’t in the shot anymore and it’s just them. Because they tried to make this as platonic as possible.
(In comparison, Allison and Diego don’t even hug. And Klaus and Allison do hug and it’s a happy moment but there is no romantic music and it’s more focused on them being happy to see each other and not framed as a romantic scene. I mean, I have no clue regarding things like ‘motifs’ and ‘scenery’ but just watch those two hug scenes back to back and you know what I mean).
Then the scene proceeds and they talk and sit down and Luther mentions her marriage and Allison tries to apologize.
Just think about that. She doesn’t outright apologize but she does try to explain why she got married by saying how hard it was and is only stopped by Luther telling her he’s glad she wasn’t alone.
How….how can you read that as a platonic convo between brother and sister? Just replace Luther with Klaus. Why would she feel the need to explain herself and seems guilty about being married? Is it because it implies she gave up on finding her family? If so, that would be her reaction with every sibling but she is explicitly like this with Luther. She tells Klaus she’s married too, and in that scene it’s definitely a ‘siblings catching up’ moment and it’s a happy moment and she doesn’t seem apologetic about being married.
She is with Luther.
Because they both know that there’s something between them and has been for a long time, to the point that Allison is visibly jealous when Luther has other relationships (his one-night-stand in S1) and this is the second time Allison has turned towards another man instead of waiting for Luther. And that’s why she tries to apologize. That’s why she tries to explain that she couldn’t know whether they - whether Luther - would ever show up, so she tried her best to move on - but she didn’t really, hence the moon scene.
(This is also the scene where Luther could’ve been angry with her - and she probably would’ve thought he’s in the right - since during the days leading up to the apocalypse it seemed like they were slowly working towards being together - even if the kiss never happened, there’s still the phone booth scene which is basically Luther confessing his feelings - and now she once again leaves him standing alone, waiting for her to possibly return to him.
But he isn’t, he just tells her he’s glad that she wasn’t alone. Because he is the actual embodiment of a gentleman and this world doesn’t deserve him).
And this is just what I remember from watching the season once and then not really engaging with it, I can’t understand how antis can see those scenes and come to entirely different conclusions. But I guess, you really only see what you wanna see, huh?
But, but…...Incest is disguting! Even their siblings think so!
They don’t. They really don’t. There’s a gifset on tumblr somewhere compiling the scenes in S1 that show how chill the sibs are with Alluther, but let’s disregard those and just focus on S2 since they changed up a lot from the prior season and antis seem to think S2 was them finally saying ‘No Alluther’.
I guess there’s the hair salon scene where Vanya, Klaus and Allison talk about relationships and Klaus lightly teases Allison for liking Luther.
Now, he mentions Allison crushing on their brother in the same sentence where he talks about Vanya and her ‘Farmfrau’ and unless I missed it, he doesn’t change his voice. He doesn’t suddenly sound completely disgusted, or like he wants to vomit or whatever people think, so either, he thinks Vissy is as ‘disgusting’ as Alluther, or, he thinks both are simply relationships his sibs are interested in pursuing and he teases them about them like a sibling may do.
And then you have Allison’s reaction.
She doesn’t go: ‘Oh yeah, that was gross, what was I thinking’, she doesn’t make a face or disgusted noises or what, no, she tries to defend herself and her feelings.
Which tells us:
Despite popular belief to disregard Allison’s say in the Alluther relationship, she wants the relationship and she is obvious enough about it their siblings know (and Klaus makes it a point to say ‘Allison is into Luther’ and not ‘Luther likes Allison and Allison tolerates it).
Alluther is brought up while they talk about current relationships, implying Allison still feels this way (especially because the way she reacts doesn’t make it seem like it’s a long over relationship with no longer relevant feelings. But again, I watched the season once and I don’t remember everything that was said. I think this is telling enough though).
So..tell me again how everyone thinks Alluther is disgusting?
By now anon is thinking: ‘What is the point of all this rambling?’
And yeah, I am sorry for going way too into detail but I just wanted to make it clear that if the writers were intend on killing Alluther off in S2 - like antis believe - then everything I just mentioned wouldn’t have happened.
(And that’s without even mentioning the cpr scene).
Alluther did get reduced but it didn’t vanish even though they decided to completely erase other things (like Claire and Eudora who are barely or not at all mentioned or things like Kliego being very close).
This would’ve been the best opportunity! They re-meet in the 60s and Allison is happily married and takes the time to tell Luther he should move on. Or both are single and Luther tries to ask where they’re standing and whether she would like to try with him and she goes ‘This would be a mistake’ and that’s it.
(I am making Allison the one who ends things because it would be ooc for Luther to just end the possible relationship after waiting for Allison for years and there needs to be some consistency even in the mess that was S2).
But! This didn’t happen!
Alluther is more or less back where it was in S1. Allison isn’t in a relationship anymore and won’t get back with the guy and Luther loves her no matter what. And the cheek kiss seems to leave them both on a hopeful note of finally getting together.
So unless they use S3 to once again redo the show, it feels like Alluther is set up to be endgame. Like, I am getting ‘star-crossed lovers’ vibes where you’re just waiting for them to finally get together - because they just belong - but things keep getting in the way.
You could compare it Diego/Lila in that regard, I think it’s pretty obvious those two are gonna end up together too.
I have another ask about how they could get together, where I will definitely ramble more, but this shall be it for now. I hope it was halfway consistent. (And doesn’t have too many typos, I’m too lazy to check).
Also the formatting is shit but idc, I spent like two hours on this

RATE THE CHAPTER 244 Responses
In contrast to episode 62, this episode got a lot more of a positive response, with no one rating it a one, and well over ¾ rating it as a 4 or better. The anticipation for the upcoming events surely has a part to play in this!
I love it! Wholesome and thrilling all in one!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I think they did an amazing job. The animation was even better than before too.
Pacing was great! The best so far.
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING MOMENTS WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 247 Responses
As expected of the fandom, Falco leading Reiner to the basement to meet Eren got the largest chunk of the pie as what was probably one of the most anticipated moments from the episode. In second was the daytime festival with Reiner spoiling the kids to some good food, with the third place going to Eren meeting his grandfather at the hospital.
They animated Dr Jaeger’s breakdown incredibly well, I felt extra bad for the guy.
WOULD YOU SHAMELESSLY EXPLOIT REINER FINANCIALLY IF YOU HAD SUCH AN OPPORTUNITY? 242 Responses
The majority of respondents say they would definitely exploit Reiner financially, with 31% saying they would feel bad about it, and 26.4% truly being shameless about it. 17.8%, on the other hand, would never even entertain the thought.
WHICH FOOD WOULD YOU WANT REINER TO BUY YOU? 246 Responses
Naturally, pizza gets the majority with nearly 60% of the vote (c’mon, who doesn’t love a good pizza?). Behind that was dessert at 22.8%, followed by those who prefer a good sandwich at 17.1%. A couple of commenters were just plain thirsty for other characters.
All of the above ;)
Ereh abs
1 drink with 2 straws so we can share while romantically staring into each other's eyes
EVERYTHING
erwin's t*ts
All. We make reiner broke
WHICH KID HAD THE CUTEST “BEGGING” EXPRESSION? 244 Responses
Gabi says she’s cute, and the fandom agrees! With 67.2% of the vote, Gabi takes the number 1 spot as the most adorable beggar. This is followed up distantly by Falco, who took in 25.8% of the vote. Zofia and Udo got a small amount of love as well.
WHAT DO YOU THINK - DID MAPPA DO WILLY TYBUR JUSTICE? 245 Responses
Overall, respondents are very happy with MAPPA’s rendition of Willy Tybur, with nearly 50% simply appreciating his design and seiyuu, while 38.8% find him quite dashing. A small amount think MAPPA got his design down just right, but not so much of a hit with the seiyuu.
As expected of MAPPA! That's exactly Willy!
His shoulders look so small its weird
They did a good job casting and drawing him but I don't personally think he's attractive at all
I couldn't take him seriously since his voice is the same as kakashi's
He is fine and MAPPA animated him well. I don't look at him from sexual way.
They really nailed Willy and I appreciate his character way more than in the manga
MAPPA MANAGED TO FIT IN THE STAIRWELL SCENE WITH PORCO AND PIECK. WAS IT EVERYTHING YOU HOPED IT WOULD BE? 247 Responses
MAPPA gave some of us a good surprise by repurposing the stairwell scene with Porco and Pieck (and I think most of us agree they’d have been fools to omit it completely). 38.1% were very grateful for it’s inclusion. 37.2% think they executed it well and had a nice chuckle from it. 9.7% were disappointed in the adaptation of Pieck’s ass, and 10.9% actually didn’t care about this scene anyway.
Everyone's making too much of a fuss over it. Nice scene though
I wish they had actually animated her scurrying around
My bisexual ass simps for Porco AND Pieck
It was everything I hoped for and more. Thank you Mappa
I always knew MAPPA wouldn't dare cut the scene where Pieck scares the crap outta Porco 😂. Poor guy could have fallen down the stairs.
That was a cute and fun scene. Pieck is really sweet and Porco was more friendly and open hearted than his manga counterpart. I really loved it!
YES! YES! YES! YES! Y E S!
Pieck Ass
MAPPA INCLUDED AN ANIME-ONLY SCENE OF A DRUNK TOWNSMAN PRAISING ZOFIA (MISTAKING HER FOR GABI), WHICH INCLUDES SOME SYMBOLISM ABOUT BAD LUCK. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE ADDITION? 244 Responses
Anime-only scenes are always hit-or-miss with manga readers, and this one seems to have been no exception. Overall, 32% of respondents thought it added a nice layer to the life of Eldians on the mainland. 18.4% were appreciative of a little more Zofia content. 16.4% liked the scene well enough, but didn’t feel it was necessary. 12.7% feel that it will serve as more fodder for Gabi’s characterization. Smaller amounts either didn’t care about it, or felt that it was completely unneeded and pointless.
I don't remember it not being part of manga, but this scene was good.
They skipped so many scenes from the manga and then add this... really not necessary
I've appreciated every little addition they've added so far, but I wish we could all quit associating black cats with bad luck. It's a major reason why they have a hard time getting adopted in real life. :(
Yet another bitter reminder of why I despise Gabi so much
OOF
I really liked the additions they made, they’re really making us like all these characters more and it’s going to hit even harder when things go down.
UDO’S SARCASM IN THE ANIME IS MUCH MORE PLAYFUL THAN HIS GLOOMY CYNICISM IN THE MANGA. DO YOU THINK THIS MAKES HIM MORE LIKEABLE? 243 Responses
Udo shows a lot of distaste for the way that Eldians are treated both in the manga and in the anime, although it seems to have gone a bit more overlooked when we initially met his character. The anime team upped the sarcasm in Udo’s fatalistic views and the fandom seems to be very receptive to it! 44.9% of respondents feel that it makes him stand out a lot more than it did in the manga, and 34.2% are simply enjoying this more lively rendition of his character. A handful of others prefer his demeanor better in the manga, while others really don’t care about Udo at all.
I adore him in the anime. It’s gonna hurt seeing him squashed.
The answer is: Yes!
It hurts more 'cause he'll die
To me it kind of felt like anger disguised as playful sarcasm, which actually made it scarier to me because you never know when he's gonna snap like he did last time.
MAPPA OMITTED THE SCENE SHOWING ZEKE AND COLT PLAYING BASEBALL. AS MANGA READERS, THIS ONCE SPARKED A LOT OF DISCUSSION ABOUT WHETHER EREN AND ZEKE WERE WORKING TOGETHER. DO YOU THINK ITS REMOVAL WAS A GOOD MOVE? 243 Responses
Overall, there doesn’t seem to be much panic in the omission of Zeke and Colt playing baseball, although some write-in responses indicated that they were more saddened by the lack of development between Zeke and Colt, rather than the foreshadowing of the Yeager brothers working together. 39.5% feel that since we already know Zeke has an affinity for baseball, the foreshadowing works well enough without this extra scene. 28.8% feel that we should simply wait and see if MAPPA rearranged this like it has other scenes. 13.6% think that this will make things even more of a shock for anime-only viewers, while a smaller handful feel that it ruins all ability to even speculate about it.
It would be too obvious if it was in the same episode and I think Eren's scene is enough for people to make a conection between baseball and Zeke
I missed it because it fleshed out Zeke and Colt’s relationship. Specifically the thing Zeke says about being a big brother.
I'm more sad because it was cute than for the potential foreshadowing. The foreshadowing is at least partly still there without it.
It's looking like a "show it later in a flaskback" angle.
It would probably be too obvious in an anime format
I'm more disappointed about the content of the conversation between Zeke and Colt
Since it was obvious last episode that the injured soldier was Eren, it’s good to actually hold another plot twist in the air that nobody will see coming as a replacement
WITH KIYOMI NOW INTRODUCED, HOW DO YOU THINK MIKASA WILL ACKNOWLEDGE THE AZUMABITO SYMBOL? 240 Responses
The symbol on Kiyomi’s kimono is the same one that is branded on Mikasa’s wrist in the manga. But the anime team retconned this detail and Mikasa’s mother showed her the symbol through embroidery instead. So it begs the question of how this will be acknowledged in the anime, given Mikasa doesn’t (knowingly) walk around with an embroidered Azumabito symbol on her clothing. 41.7% feel that she will verbally acknowledge the symbol as something her mother showed her when she was little. 25% are anticipating MAPPA retconning things back to having the symbol branded on Mikasa’s wrist again instead. 15.8% think she will have the symbol embroidered on a piece of clothing she is wearing, and others feel it will be acknowledged in a different way, or the scene will be omitted altogether.
Either canned entirely so they can focus more on adapting the more labor intensive parts or acknowledged in another way
Anyone who thinks they’ll retcon to a tattoo is super wrong. Japan has a huge taboo on tattoos because of the Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) so they’re 100% keeping with the embroidery
I don’t even remember where Mikasa first saw the symbol…
I think it would be fine if they use the embroidery but they could just change where the tattoo is located
WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT THE INCLUSION OF PIECK AND PORCO DURING THE DAYTIME FESTIVAL? 245 Responses
With Pieck being a fan favorite and Porco lacking in as much screen time in comparison, we asked how you all felt about the inclusion of them in the short festival scene. Most responses were positive, with 38.8% getting a kick out of the implication that they, too, were mooching off of Reiner for free food, 35.1% just loving that they’re getting more screen time altogether, and 17.1% feeling that it was a huge improvement over Reiner being solo in the manga. A small chunk of respondents felt it was better the way it was depicted in the manga.
Doesn't matter, Falco is really the only one who deserves to live
I preferred it in the manga when Reiner was alone with the kids, but it's a nice addition to give them more screentime. Especially to Porco
Their moments together show the close-hearted bonds they have.
HOW DO YOU THINK THE ADAPTATION OF CHAPTERS 99 AND 100 WILL GO? 100 IS ONE THE COMMUNITY’S ALL-TIME FAVORITE CHAPTERS. 244 Responses
The Declaration of War has been one of the most anticipated animated episodes since its chapter’s publication. With MAPPA at the helm, we asked how confident you guys were in how it will be adapted. Nearly 70% of respondents are wholly confident in MAPPA’s ability to pull this off, regardless of whether they’ll have to cut some lines or are able to keep everything in. 25% remain cautiously optimistic.
I'm really scared, but hope that they can make it justice
No idea how they adapt that much dialogue in one episode
I hope the declaration of war gets the best adaptation possible.
IN A RECENT INTERVIEW, WE GOT A GLIMPSE OF SOME NEW MUSIC THAT HASN’T YET BEEN IN THE ANIME. COMPOSER SAMUEL KIM MADE A WONDERFUL FAN COMPOSITION BASED OFF OF THE SNIPPET IN THE INTERVIEW.... DO YOU THINK THAT HIS MUSIC IS WHAT WILL BE PLAYED DURING THE BUILDUP TO THE DECLARATION OF WAR? 228 Responses
For those of us who are OST nerds, we wait in anticipation of which track will be used for the iconic Declaration of War scene and how it will impact the overall execution. 37.3% who listened to the fan composition of a new song feel that no other song would suit the scene and are hopeful this is, indeed, what will play. 22.4% are hanging on for YouSeeBigGirl/T:T (or at the very least a rendition of it) due to the significance it has between Eren and Reiner. 19.3% feel it will play during Willy’s play, but not the Big Moment itself, and 11.4% simply aren’t invested. Some write-ins indicated they don’t want to be spoiled on any of the new music until it’s paired with the appropriate scenes.
I hope that it will be Vogel im Kafig but this track fits great too, and I think that this track is more likely to play during the buildup scene
Not gonna listen. If this is indeed the DoW music, I want to hear it first during the scene itself.
It'll be edited around for the play but the climax at the end could very well match the trailer they used it in for DoW
Whatever MAPPA decides to play, I'll be content with I'm sure.
I prefer to wait and be suprised by the ost than listen to it before and it feeling like deja-vu
YouSeeBigGirl would be great for some nostalgia but this new soundtrack seems intriguing, maybe MAPPA has more surprises for us
Im thinking the ost might be completely different but i am open to it being played because it does sound nice
No ost spoilers for me
WHICH SCENE FROM THE PREVIEW ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT EPISODE? 243 Responses
The top three most anticipated clips from the preview include Eren starting to transform, Willy declaring war and Eren and Reiner’s conversation in the basement. Of course, these are all more or less interconnected, so the vast majority of respondents are looking forward to the buildup toward and the climax of the DoW (as expected). A small number are looking forward to smaller scenes such as Falco realizing he’s been used and Willy’s play in general.
I'm hyped for the declaration play!
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
I LOVED IT MAPPA IS DOING A GOOD JOB!!!!
I loved the humanization of all the characters
The perfect calm before the storm. Everything from here on out will be an unstoppable train
I'm just so happy to see the story animated!
It was a mandatory filler episode for the declaration of war, important stuff happening but pretty boring overall.
This episode seemed shorter and kinda empty, but considering what's coming, I totally forgive and understand it.
Its just a really great episode The pacing was perfect I was actually more invested with Magath's and Willy's interaction in the anime rather than the manga The visuals for the scene when Eren and Dr. Jaeger were talking were beautiful Udo's character was fleshed out more I'm still waiting for Armin It just presented things differently from how i read into those scence, and i liked that. Overall just really exited for the next episode and for chapter 136 to come out
The ending got me so HYPED for the next episode!! It was really well done.
the eyeshots of Eren's grandpa were epic
The episode was trully wonderful and I enjoyed every part of it. MAPPA is doing great job and I get a feeling that with the new soundtrack the episodes feel more serious than the ones created by WiT. I love Pieck. I never understood what was so ""cute"" about her in the manga. I saw her only as intelligent, skilled, tough warrior woman. Now I finally see her cuteness. I love how sweet and calm she is. Pieck reminds me of Tsuyu from MHA. They share similar energy. I'm grateful to MAPPA for making the bonds between the warriors stronger. This way the anime onlines will feel more sympathy to them. Pieck and Porco won't be just cold warriors, but nice folks.
Watching Falco and Gabi together is so satisfying to watch after knowing he confesses his love before inheriting the jaw Titan oooof love them so much
WHERE DO YOU PRIMARILY DISCUSS THE SERIES? 232 Responses
Thank you again to everyone who participated! We’ll see you again next episode!

BTS Reaction | At an Amusement Park with You/SO [Hyung Line]
I actually wrote most of this ages ago, but I’m finally posting it now ^^
m/l in my bio~
𝕊𝕖𝕠𝕜𝕛𝕚𝕟
So much yelling? Somewhere in between having the time of his life and complaining at every turn. Hella scared of the big looping roller coasters but wants to do them with you anyway. Will scream louder and longer than anyone else. Puts the scared kids to shame. Those vocalists lungs are no joke. People still waiting in line probably whip out their phones to film, not because hes Jin, but because holy SHIt is it FUNNY. “WAHHHhHhhhhHHHHHH oooOOOAHH AHHHH IM TOO PRETTY TO DIIIEEE.” Death grips your hand like a women going through labor. But its ok, might need to buy you an ice pack after though. Also one of those who’s gonna splurge on fast passes because waiting hours in line “”isn't his style””.
You might need to help him walk after the scrambler because the poor man is DIZZY, but then he’d wanna try all the carnival games. Probably one of those where you get to shoot bbguns at duck targets, or throwing darts at balloons. Passes you his extra large; JUMBO, almost-people-sized bag of kettle corn so he can “show you his skillz.” Probably drops $40 trying to claim this giant lama plush he insists he must acquire to survive. Fails. But if you can’t help him out either, the carny eventually takes pity on him and just hands over the doll. Either way he’s happy and would strap it to his back and go on his marry way. Once it gets dark and you two have exhausted all the good rides and his voice is horse from all the yelling, hes ready to try all the FOOD. Turkey legs, funnel cake, fried oreos, fried snickers, fried s’mores... fried.. b-butter?..
...
𝕐𝕠𝕠𝕟𝕘𝕚
Mostly went for the food and company. Oh, that big rickety roller coaster with the death drops and three loops? Big nOpe, thinks its cute you think he’d go with you though.
“What, are you scared?”
“Yep. Sorry I’m sane, have fun though.. I’ll be over here~”
Happily waits for you at the side lines with his bag of popcorn, and large iced Americano you still aren’t sure where he got.
“Wow I could hear you screaming from all the way over here.”
“Could not..”
Somewhere down the line you two end up walking past all the carnival games and he starts telling you how rigged each one is. He finds one where you get to shoot targets and he starts telling you about how they’re always rigged to shoot towards the right. You dare him to go for it since he knows the game so well. He’ll end up paying the over priced fee and gets all confident, gesturing for all to step aside. “BEHOLD.” Probably been around Jin too much. -He fails the first time.
“Damn.. maybe to the left..?” He tries again. Fails, tries again, fails. Now he’s hooked and determined and his hearts been set on this cheesy shark plush for the past $20 so now he’s gotta have it.
“Hey, can I try?” “Yeah, of course.”
You hit the target on the first try and his jaw drops.
“WHAT! HOW!?”
“Aim and shoot babe~”
“WELL KEEP GOING!”
A few minutes later and you’ve racked up enough tickets for his shark.
“Which one was it you wanted?”
“The red one!” He goes all soft and smiley when the carny hands it over. And you wouldn’t have wounded his pride at all, but you might regret suddenly becoming the third wheel to his new BBBFF.. Cheetah... the shark.
After walking around and trying some weird foods you eventually convince him to go up on the ferris wheel with you.
“But Cheetah can’t go up there~”
“I’m sure he’ll fit, its a pretty big bench.”
“Cheetah’s a girl..”
“Sorry Cheetah.. LETS GO!”
He’ll start to hold your hand more in line.
“Are you scared?”
“Of course not.”
He’s totally scared. And its even more evident when you’re up there and he’s clinging on to you, grinning through his shakes.
“This is high..”
“Yeah, but its so pretty from up here! Look at the fireworks!”
“But Cheetah can’t breath up here.”
“I mean there’s no water down there either-”
“Shes a land shark.”
By the 3rd go-around hes gotten use to the height and gets all curled up and cozy while you two joke about “land shark facts”.
“Today was really nice..” *content nodding*.
...
ℍ𝕠𝕤𝕖𝕠𝕜
Hes excited, he’s loud, hes confident. All those other times he was scared on roller coaster? What do you mean? That was the past, he’s over it. Scared? psh, not him. Not one bit. Nope. Not at all..
Until you’re hand in hand waiting in line for a coaster, watching the passengers wail and the floor-less cart woosh by at a speed he remembers all too well. Suddenly he’s laughing out of nervousness and his hands are sweating, but he can’t chicken out now. He’s already been boasting all day, and the lack of fear on you has him even more locked in. He’d be hyping himself up, loudly.
“LETS DO THIS!! YEAHH!! THE DROP ISN’T EVEN THAT BAD!!...”
Once he’s locked in his hands would be so sweaty they’d be slipping off the safety harness, and his heart would do flips when he found he could just barely reach your hand to grab onto. Same mile wide grin though, but he’d be very obviously freaking.
“Are you scared? no?.. oh yeaH of course not this is nothing! HA ha”
You know when the cart does that slow climb to the top and they hold you up there for a second to build the anticipation? Yeah, he hates that. His anxiety would be reaching new highest, his body going into full fight-or-flight-bro-wtf-are-you-dOing mode. Shrieks the whole way down, and the whole way back up, and down again. It’d actually be impressive because he’d keep that high pitched note up the whole way until the cart slowed to a stop, and then he’d go completely limp. Want’s out. NOw. Hated it. Why did he agree to that, who’s idea was that? I mean “nOO that was... greAT? Yeah that loop was..... dope..? Yep.. soo awesome haha.. lets not go again though..”
If you were excited he’d try and go along with it and mimic your excitement a little. Honestly, I think his adrenaline would have him in-between wanting to puke ,and run around in circles. Probably spend the rest of the day firmly planted on the ground. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t having fun. Once he calmed down a little you two would be running around taking pictures and going through fun rooms and mirror mazes. Maybe those big inflatable slides where they give you a potato sake to sit on so you don’t rug burn your skin off. There he’d have a blast, no more coaster though.
..
ℕ𝕒𝕞𝕛𝕠𝕠𝕟
He’s a big sap, but I’ll get to that. Hes a big dorky ball of energy, steamrolling through like a dog who’s barely leash trained. So hold on tight, and be careful he doesn’t lead you into a wall, or a trashcan or something. He’d be too busy looking up at all the rides and food stalls to pay attention to where it is he’s going. So maybe snag a map or two at the ticket entry.
I feel like if he was hyped up and had his caffeine for the day he’d be a little impulsive. Like, he’d see a cotton candy stall and go ballistic. He’d buy the biggest cone he could and then once he turned around he’d see a ride he just HAD to go on. Of course its a splash ride. And of course there’d magically be no line, but what’s he gonna do with the mountain of cotton candy he just bought? Scarf it down like a starved man, obviously. With your help of course. But then he’d be thirst, good thing there’s a lemonade stall close by. Get’s a large; no food or drink on the ride. Well, there’s only one way to solve that.
Once you guys were off the ride, drenched and pumped up on adrenaline he’d already be running to find a bathroom. Remember the map I told you to snag? Well you’d better hope its not drenched too.
But back to him being a sap. This man loves things that are beautiful, and what’s more beautiful than the night sky and the city lights from up above? He would wait until it was dark out and the place was starting to clear out. Because he would have a plAN. 100% is that guy in romcoms who tips the carny to leave the two of you up there at the top of a ferris wheel. And he thinks he’s being real original too, but hes so cute that you forget how predictable it all is once the cart stops. probably says something sappy like “The lights are beautiful, but they’re more beautiful in your eyes.”
If you don’t pinch him, I will~

Hey, so I just wanted to ask how the fic has been going, its been awhile since ur last actual update of this fic? Not counting prompts and other LWTQ lore, art, extra stuff, etc., which all are cool by the way, and I hope u keep doing that kinda stuff when u can, to keep this blog more active. I was just wondering when the main Fanfic will update, no rush though, I know ur Fanfic takes awhile, esp. with the art and how u format the fanfic with the visuals & stuff. I love ur stuff. :)
Hey, you’re absolutely right, and I’m sorry I wasn’t able to keep up with the weekly updates I wanted to post each week on AO3. Thing is, on the day of my birthday the license for my drawing software expired, and I haven’t been able to draw anything since then -- which took quite a toll on how the weekly updates went. That small event in itself isn’t much (I’ll definitely buy it once and for all whenever I find the time to), but... I guess it kind of was the first trigger for what came next, and for why I stopped working on LWtQ as often as I used to.
It’s a mix of multiple smaller things going all at the same time, honestly. Studies being hard, winter coming and health issues coming along with it, IRL stuff, and in the meantime, whenever I had enough energy left not to procrastinate, I’ve simply been working on a completely different project.
I still love LWtQ and I definitely intend on finishing it, if only because of the meta and the plot. But the thing is that the completely different project I currently have in mind... It’d be something else. It’d be a 100% original story, and a pretty big one at that -- yes, even bigger than LWtQ. I’m not gonna take any position on that “Are original stories better than fanfiction?” debate because I absolutely don’t think there’s any type better than the other -- I 100% believe that LWtQ’s strength and purpose is to be a fanfic and it just wouldn’t work if it were an original work, so I’m absolutely proud of the fact that it’s a fanfic and not a thing on its own. But... It’s just that working on an original project, one in which everything from the characters to the worldbuilding has been 100% created by you only... It just doesn’t give the same feeling as using a world somebody else created, even if you twist it to your content and give it a bit of your own personality. It just feels more... rewarding? Meaningful? It just feels like I’m accomplishing something that nobody else could do -- a feeling I was already having with my fanfics to some extent, except that this time the power of that feeling is over 9000. The fact that I have a small Discord server with my closest friends where everybody is head over heels about that project and that some of them are already planning to help me complete it doesn’t really help deterring me. We’re starting to make an actual team of people motivated to make this silly VN/animated comic project work, even if it’ll take years before the first episode gets out.
Anyway. I’m NOT giving up on LWtQ -- or if I were to do that, I’d ask somebody else to write the next chapters, I’d give them all of my notes, and you’d better believe that I’d beta the heck out of their work and probably rewrite 80% of it anyway, because I’m just that attached to making that story as cool and complete as I could possibly make it with my current capabilities. I know of its potential, and I wouldn’t want that potential to be lost and forgotten for anything in the world.
It’s just... gonna take a bit of time :x I usually get my “fanfics” motivation back around January, at the beginning of Spring at the latest. I guess we’ll see if this year works the same way the previous ones have.
That being said... I’m really grateful for your comment and your concern, because it really means a lot, even if it doesn’t seem like it. And... I’m sorry. Chapter 13 was about 7500 words in the last time I checked, back in October... and it should be between 60 and 80% done plot-wise. I really hope I’ll be able to finish it sooner rather than later, but I can’t make any promises.

Quick Game Reviews: What I played 2018
I’m gonna go ahead and do this for the whole year, which includes games that WEREN’T released this year, but I played this year. I also made this throughout the year, so most the opinions were right after I played it and if it’s been updated further might not include that in my blurb.
I needed to type and felt like I needed to make something. This might motivate me I suppose. Let’s get started
DOOM 2016 [PC]
I grew up on Pokemon, Mario, and Doom II. I couldn’t play it until I got my new computer this year so yeah way too late. This is a pretty solid game, though thanks to all of the bonuses and honestly nearly intrusive leveling up system kinda stepped in the way of the raw combat. It’s obviously my choice, but I felt encouraged to spend a lot of time exploring areas I’d already cleared rather than run and gun.
That being said, I still loved it. The secrets were, for the most part, really clever and fun anyway and the combat is delicious. I would strongly recommend this
A Hat in Time + Seal the Deal DLC [PC]
I love this game. A lot. It’s really cute and looks really good, it’s got a ton of charm, and it’s honestly a very good time overall. I 100% the base game last year when it first came out, and I would highly recommend to fans of 3D platformers, and still worth a try if you’re on the fence on them. The mod support is also great that it’s in there and I want to try that a lot. however the DLC...
So the new level is pretty short and while it’s fun, it’s not as good as the other levels. The characters (I think) are really cute and the charm is all there and that great, but it has all of 3 levels, and 2 of them are exploring the exact same places (the boat) and the 3rd is a nice twist on that, but other than that it’s pretty barren. The time rifts were fun as well, but alone... eh. The Death Wish portion, that is the super hard challenge mode...
... is not good. Obviously my opinion, and I might be missing the point, but after having been frustrated over and over and over again, the game itself is just not tight or clean enough to warrant it. My backing for this is that a large portion of the challenges rely on originally unintended level geometry or quirky mechanics in order to complete, and having challenges that require you to be in the know about these honestly inconsistent “quirks” is just not good. Specific examples: the ice hat giving you a small boost to avoid jumping in challenges is alright but fluctuates in how much height it gives you a lot, the challenges around the train chase still have the wonky hitboxes that do not line up with what’s still on screen, and the parade challenge has an invisible hitbox on the main platform that can kill runs. In short If you have found you love the main game and are a bit of a masochist, go for the DLC.
Pokémon Ultra Sun [3DS]
This is more or less just a revisit of the same generation with some very minor changes. The story changes take the focus away from Lillie and Lusamine (and as a result how interesting the former and evil the latter are) and places it on Necrozma and Ultra Beasts. I really like what they did with Necrozma, but overall it feels like a lot less. And while the Rainbow Rocket post game was nice and fun nostalgia, it’s still missing a solid post game like B2W2 or Gen II had.
Ultra Wormholes are cool though, and all the good mechanics from SM are still there, so honestly I would recommend this if you haven’t played gen 7 and like Pokémon.
Hey! Pikmin [3DS]
It’s awful. I can’t think of a reason to pick this up.
I can rant about this for years, but it basically got the Zip Lash/ Sticker Star treatment: it took a franchise known for something and made it something else that was bad. It’s an incredibly slow puzzle “platformer” where you have to collect a bunch of treasure using pikmin you find in the level, it’s laggy even on a n3DS, and even though the point of the game is to collect enough treasure to leave, if you do that they’re all like “by the way, you still have to beat the final boss” so the entire auto-collecting side game you put your pikmin into is entirely pointless. This is honestly the worst 3DS game I played this year.
Hollow Knight [PC]
So I’m normally not that great with the games-that-are-pretty-dang-hard, and this was no exception. That said however, I did get pretty far (probably) before I got to a boss fight I just couldn’t beat (It was an onslaught of rolling knights in the raining city or something, it’s been a while). And after that I tried finding more power-ups and stuff to help, but I had to set it down after getting bottlenecked there. That being said, I can very easily see why people like this hardcore metroid-vania platformer, and would still recommend it if you’re into the Dark Souls style of high difficulty and mechanical mastery in other genres.
Axiom Verge [PC]
This is another Metroid-style game. I really liked this one as well, especially how its power-ups weren’t the traditional “You jump higher now” traversal power-ups. It really has a nice atmosphere and theme that still feels alien and metroidy while also feeling like the glitchy world by giving you weapons and movement abilities that let you glitch and change the environment around you. I really liked it! My only real complaint is the bosses get really challenging through a result of eventually figuring out what weapon and strategy is was designed for, and there are some areas that I was completely lost trying to find where I was going next, but all in all it’s pretty solid.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch [PC]
I normally really hate games where the focus is “lol, you can barely control your character! hahaha.” I actually really liked this one; it isn’t hard to get the hang of it and it’s really funny and still enjoyable at the same time. I rarely actually felt annoyed at the controls. I had a ton of fun with it, even if it was a little short.
Kirby Star Allies [Switch]
My complaints are very much the same as everyone else’s here; it’s a pretty okay Kirby game, but it lacks real challenge and is pretty quick. the real “star” of the show is playing the game with different characters, but since you can’t do that until after you play through as Kirby, by that point it’s either grown on you or hasn’t. The best part is the unique levels they made for the DLC characters, Gooey, Marx, Dreamland buddies, etc. Those are a ton of fun. If you like Kirby games, this one’s no Super Star but you’ll likely love all the attention to the free DLC characters and it’s not bad by any stretch.
HOB [PC]
It’s a 3D, top-down Zelda style game with an emphasis on some platforming elements. The world is wonderful, definitely the Aesthetic with clockwork worlds that Spiral Knights wishes it could’ve had. I actually had a ton of fun with it. The secrets and exploration were great, combat is ehhhhhh but that’s not really the focus. It’s a good time, If you like Zelda but with some puzzle platforming and great atmosphere, check this one out!
Poi [PC]
This is a Unity 3D platformer that attempted to brush off the Unity, and does an alright job with being mechanically tighter than most, but still has the Unity feel. Controls are a bit loose, could’ve used a lot of polish, but honestly this scratched the 3D platformer collect-a-thon itch for a bit and I actually 100% it. You have to love 3D platformers like Sunshine or Banjo Tooie to be able to like this, but if you do it’s a pretty fun romp.
Princess Remedy In a Heap of Trouble [PC]
This is a fun, short bullet-hellish game with an old-school Atari aesthetic. It’s pretty fun, but honestly I like the mechanics in the free game better (though this has more content). It’s fun, it’s funny, it’s quirky (and kinda short), try out the free game and if you like that one give this a try! The main difference is the “date” mechanic, where people you heal can join you to give you a different special power from healing, to various kinda of bombs, time freezing, homing bullets, etc. Once you find one though, it’s hard to convince yourself to try something else.
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion [Switch]
This is Splatoon 2′s expanded hard/challenge mode. I’m a big fan; a few of the challenges are eh, but overall the aesthetic and branching map structure are super fun. The expanding on the lore and bonuses are also great; even though earlier I don’t normally go for the extremely hard, I found myself 100%’ing this. There’s a really tough challenge at the very end of all that, and I would say If you liked Splatoon 2, pick this up. It’s the expansion of Single Player that it deserves, though prepare for a few frustrating challenges.
... But now you have to pay for a terrible service to play it online so keep that in mind...
Celeste [Switch]
This is a fucking great game and you should buy it. It’s a challenging (very hard) platformer in the line of super meat boy and maybe even I Wanna Be The Guy, but this does it extremely right. restarting is very quick, the controls are incredibly tight, and the levels are genuinely clever and fun.
The story is also really solid, and I can’t recommend the whole package as a solid game.
Grow Up [PC]
This is the sequel to Grow Home, a game I’ve quick-reviewed a long time back. I liked the whole explore a whole planet and find some neat stuff, however the challenges are reliant on some weird procedural animations which don’t necessarily cooperate. It kinda overstays it’s welcome as a result, though the open nature of it is really fun. I have a hard time recommending this one, but it’s still a pretty solid romp even if it fights you a bit.
Sonic Mania Plus [Switch]
Having 100% the base game which I highly recommend, I was expecting a lot more things to do with this. Encore mode is fun; I really like how you can change up your characters and have to adjust on the fly. The new special stages are tough but fun, but the pinball minigame is.. not good. Gets old pretty quick. additionally it doesn’t add much after encore mode. Might and Ray have abilities that meaningfully add some neat gameplay stuff, but after how great the base game was, I was expecting a little bit more. That being said, the DLC is a nice bonus for the base game and you can’t really go wrong with it.
Lovely Planet [PC]
So I made a point to only play this game when I was drunk. The first few times I happened to be when I played it, so I stuck with it. This is a quick-restarting FPS with a focus on perfect shots and maneuvering to destroy all the target and get to the end as soon as possible. It’s hard as balls but really silly, so if you’re into perfectionist gameplay it’s worth a go. Probably not drunk tho.
Ever Oasis [3DS]
IIRC, this came out at a time where there was a lull in Nintendo games, or at least 3DS games so this one was very much skimmed over. It’s a mix between a town management sim and Zelda-style dungeon crawling and resource gathering. On paper, and even somewhat in game, this is a cool idea; you get townsfolk who can go with you on missions, each with their own abilities, and what you get outside of the town is used to help expand you town, which will buff you/your townspeople's abilities to go further in dungeons.
In practice however... they don’t really mesh. The limitation of 1 item per party member and items being locked to specific people you need to find, going to dungeons is a chore as you need to find out which characters you need to actually play (often not your best). Meanwhile, time passes so quickly and your town’s shopkeepers run out of resources so quickly, it’s a full time job to keep up the town and then you run out. They mitigate this near the end game by have the ability to make parties out of townspeople who can’t own shops, which are very rare. The ending is good up until the last moment where they do a thing that doesn’t make sense to get some points for emotion but... It just doesn’t work to me.
All in all, it has a demo to show how a dungeon works, and if you like management AND what that dungeon has to offer, go for it. Otherwise, the setting and character design are great but not enough to really hold interest
Q.U.B.E. 2 [PC]
The First game was Portal-esque in that you navigated the first-person Cube puzzle maze without any dialogue while manipulating the chambers with a variety of cube-spawning and extending abilities. You had to piece out and interpret the story yourself. This is the opposite; there’s a lot of dialogue, story set-pieces, and it’s bizarrely paced. You’ll get through most the game in like an hour, but then the last 2-3 chapters are the bulk of the game. Those are pretty fun, but the game is still incredibly short and I liked the tone of the first better. It’s short, it’s not bad, but it doesn’t really stand out.
NES Classic
So I dunno if I love or hate this thing. It’s great because it’s an official NES with controller and emulator and gives me the opportunity to play a buncha games I hadn’t before, but the controller cable is too small, the damn thing has trouble getting enough power (EDIT: This was actually my aparement’s faulty wiring, though if you aren’t supplying it with enough power the sound won’t work either), and this things existence is probably part of the reason we’ve not seen a proper virtual console support on Switch. You can hack it to be able to upload other ROMs to it, which is neat (I haven’t done that), but ultimately it’s worth looking at the games and asking yourself: Do I really want to play most of these? Do I really want to buy this when I’ve already bought most of them?
SNES Classic
This is the same as above but more expensive with less games... But to me is a better value. It has a better selection of games (in my opinion), though they could’ve included some better ones. It still has the power issues (which are overcomable easily) but comes with 2 controllers with longer cables. Also StarFox 2 is a very nice game. I’d recommend this more than the NES Classic, but again, weigh what’s in it vs what you actually want to play if you can’t already
WarioWare Gold [3DS]
This is a compilation game done right. It has the WarioWare charm and the voice acting adds even more to it. The microgame selection and adaptations are wonderful, and honestly I don’t have any complaints. It has changed everything to fit in one of 3 (+2 smaller ones) categories: Mash, Twist, and Touch (+ blow and short). These are normally separate by category, but near the end they mix and match and even do some fun mix-up with it in the very last rounds and bonus game modes. Whether your first WarioWare or a veteran, this is in my opinion the best in the series, and I would suggest you give it a go.
Monster Hunter World [PC]
So this one is hard. I really wanted to like it, and after playing Dauntless I thought I would. I even promised friends I would play it with them frequently and keep up but... between friends being able to play when I couldn’t and the game’s wonky controls and online issues, I was falling behind and getting frustrated. That’s kinda side stuff; if I really liked it I could’ve caught up. The truth is, I liked Dauntless better because while it was also very buggy, the combat was just a lot more straightforward and responsive. Monster Hunter seemed like Dauntless with a bunch of annoyances added onto it. There are tons of collectibles and recipes, weapon sharpness is entirely pointless when the monsters run anyway to give you breaks, the weapons I played seemed sluggish to attack with, and monster attacks were unclear a lot of the time. Everything just felt like a pain in the ass or waste of time to deal with and put a lot of focus on inventory management or grinding, and to me the core game you would do that for just wasn’t there.
Like I enjoyed the free roaming and exploration, but the fighting is just not for me and that’s the whole point of the free roaming and all that. I feel bad about not liking this after enjoying Dauntless, but I just am not into Monster Hunter and will be skipping the series from now on.
Katamari Forever [PS3]
I got this one thinking it was a compilation game of all the Katamari games!
It was not. It’s actually the hardest Katamari game... Which kinda surprised me about how much of a dick they are when you start out since their controls are incredibly weird and unintuitive (you get used to them) and anything short of perfection will get the Kings to any where from passive aggressively imply you did poorly or just straight out call you awful and not to bother.
Here’s the part where randomly in the giant text post I just completely break whatever I was talking about because I’m 95% no one actually reads this so for shits and giggles the first person to reply to my tweet where I posted a link to the blogpost stating that they found this paragraph will get a free me replying back to that tweet saying “nice” back. An enticing gift amirite? Anyway continuing on.
That being said, it’s pretty fun after all that; there are one or two levels designed to be super annoying but the ones where you play the core game of quickly building your Katamari are for the most part very solid. This is for existing fans of the series, but i had a pretty good time with it after I got past the barrier to entry.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero: Ultimate Edition [PC]
I’ve talked about liking Shantae before on this blog; I mentioned that I liked Pirate’s Curse but the fact that side missions and collectibles were actually required for game completion. This Shantae looks great and all, but they completely tossed out the open-like nature and makes it a series of linear levels that you have to revisit at least 2-3 times to find the stuff that should’ve been off somewhere in a different series of areas and optional that’s really just slightly out of reach due to a power up you arbitrarily find after the level you needed to use it in ends. Dungeons are completely gone; the game literally is just “go right” and remember all the little things you couldn’t get to for when you have to backtrack over and over again.
That’s just the base game, and even with all that said it’s not a bad game, it just doesn’t really feel like a Shantae game anything other than aesthetically. I spent a few hours trying to 100% the base game, but after getting 99% and discovering I had to backtrack yet again to a snake merchant to trade for dances just to use them once and trade back, I just had 0 interest in getting the final percent. There are also a variety of different takes on the same campaign where you play as Shantae in different costumes with different abilities, Risky, or even Bolo + Skye + Rotty, and again those look fun but... I don’t really want to play the same game another 10 times.
Dragalia Lost [Android]
This is Nintendo’s first jump into mobile with a new IP, and while it’s definitely banking hard on more traditional gacha mechanics (you can get 5 star items instead of Hero characters only), it’s definitely not bad. It’s pretty generous with stamina and resources, at least when you start, and my only major complaint is how you seem to hit a wall in terms of how long it takes to really progress about a week or so of playing every day in. And it’s quite a wall; there’s quite a lot of grinding needed once you get to chapter 6 (the current final chapter that really feels like just the end of a prologue (Edit, they recently added chapter 7)), so you really need to like it. The levels are kinda simple as well, though there’s a maze-like area in the story that’s a bit more clever so it’s a start at least. All and all, it’s worth a try, but if you don’t like the top-down brawler after the first world, it’s not worth forcing through gacha mechanics for; especially since after you complete normal story mode, all you’re going to be doing is grinding to get through hard and the summoning currency gets scarce fast. For reference, getting enough to be able to challenge the High Dragon quests and not immediately die in them takes 2 months of grinding specifically for that purpose if you use your stamina optimally, which you won’t because events are more fun anyway
Overcooked 2 [Switch Download]
So this is actually really fun with a friend or 3; and that’s where it really shines. Sure, you can do it single player but it just doesnt feel as fun. This is a sort of quick time-management game where you have to frantically run around cooking various recipes before they run out of time, to get a star rating at the end. There’s some bad levels, but the majority are really fun and it feels very fair even in single layer; I always think at the end regardless of the rank that I could’ve managed my dudes to do even better. The only real complaint is the loading times seem... unnecessarily long. Especially for restarting a level. It’s nothing too bad though.
Luckily this has online multiplayer, so I highly recommend picking this up on a platform that your friends have it on, ie Steam. I got it on Switch and in hindsight since I strongly dislike Nintendo’s online service I really wish I had gotten like a 2-pack on Steam. That’s not a complaint with the game though; I really liked it!
Super Mario Party [Switch]
Probably the best Mario Party in a very, VERY long time. This is going to be a longer review. I played this first with Keewy and his roommates and we had a great time in every single game mode (except online).
The Mario Party mode is really good; they’ve shrunk the map and reduced how much stars cost to 10 coins, but 10-15 turn games can still take an hour to an hour and a half. This makes it a much simpler, easier to get mode, but the real star here is them bringing back the Ally & character dice mechanic from Mario Party Star Rush (had it’s good moments, but was on 3DS so that’s it for that). Each character can roll a normal 1-6 dice, but they also each have a unique die that has different numbers on it. These are for the most part balanced; character with higher numbers on their dice also have downsides instead of a 1. 0′s, losing coins, and in some cases gaining coins (because you still don’t move), and it adds a level of strategy to it where otherwise it would be just “roll and hop for the best. That’s what it is still, but sometimes you can choose. You can also pick up other characters who will help you in minigames, give you the option to roll their die, and add 1-2 spaces to your roll. It’s super fun.
The River Rafting mode is 4-player co-op, and it’s pretty fun as well your first run through. Not single player though; this very much shines with 4 people. However, because there are only like 8? 4-player co-op minigames, you see every game on your first run so it doesn’t really hold up after your first couple runs.
The dance mode is great; it’s like Rhythm heaven but Mario Party themed. Again, these minigames are really fun, but once you play through all 3 difficulties, which takes about 10 minutes, there aren’t any you haven’t played.
2v2 is ripped straight out of Star Rush, which is a great thing. Again, don’t play this with a cpu on your team at least. As far as I can tell, even in Mario Party mode, CPU’s make the same brain-dead decisions on the boards regardless of their difficulty level. Anyway, this has the same 4 boards but opened up vastly; You now roll, combine it with your partner, then add any allies you may have picked up along the way’s 1-2 rolls and other bonuses. The point is to land on the starspace and buy it, and it’s just a good time to see the strategy involved with either going for the stars, allies, or secondary goals. By far the best alternative Mario Party gameplay style in a while (way better than Island Tour’s linear maps and 9-10′s Car mode), but again there’s only the 4 maps.
So I guess my only true complaint is that while there are a lot of minigames, they’re split so much over the different modes they don’t feel like a lot and you see repeats frequently. Additionally it would be nice to turn on/off the bonus stars at the end and other options involving maybe skipping some of the cutscenes (star moving, places changed, etc.). All in all, the best and most interesting Mario Party in a long, long time. I highly recommend it if you have a friend to pick it up with.
Just Shapes & Beats
Got this game for a bit of random multiplayer. It’s a pretty fun, music based bullet hell game all about staying alive through the song while crazy stuff happens on screen. The story mode doesn’t overstay its welcome, but there’s also plenty of content and challenges for those who are so inclined, and only one of the levels felt utterly, bullshitingly unfair (which is really good with bullet hells) so It’s a fun time if you’re into top down bullet hells, and better with a friend in challenge mode
Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee [Switch]
I could write a dissertation on this game and how it’s neither good or bad; it’s just kinda... there. Some aspects are incredibly disappointing; the capture mechanics are absolute garbage, forced motion controls are atrocious, player/npc animations and interactions are completely stilted and lazy, the world is very bland vs Sun and Moon, the performance in handheld mode drops frames sometimes which is unacceptable, there’s almost zero post game, and even more. It’s by all means an HD reskin of a Gameboy game running on their crappy 3DS engine.
But there’s a lot of good here as well; seeing pokemon in the overworld is amazing and should be the case in the series moving forward, partner pokemon (eevee) are fun and fucking adorable, riding pokemon is great, having fast captures makes chaining a really fun mechanic, Having some of the E4 and Gym leaders interact with you during your quest makes the world interesting, connectivity with go is very limited but still good, having only one pokemon be obtainable only once in the game is a welcome and frankly overdue change in the game, removing breeding/abilities/held items really streamlines the mechanics and makes the game more enjoyable in a lot of cases, and I could go on.
I’m not going to recommend it, but I mean if you liked any pokemon game you’re definitely not going to not have fun with this one, even if the randomness in the capture mechanics frustrates you to no end
Super Smash Bros Ultimate [Switch]
So I mean it’s smash bros. Not much really to say about that, it’s pretty good. I kinda like Smash Bros not just for the multiplayer but the single-player as well, which is why Brawl is still my Favorite so take that as my approach here. The normal gameplay is fine, though the input buffer feels wonky at times and some characters are much harder to play against than others, which in combination with the sheer amount of characters makes it very difficult to get the hang of and counter accordingly, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s just the barrier between playing casually and playing a bit more seriously feels sudden when randomly coming across characters that have inherent advantages from being wonky. Cloud for example seems to have a move for evertyhing, can spit out attacks very quickly, and if you try anything silly they’ll just charge a better move, and then randomly fighting a Ganondorf is like “I hope they don’t know how to read you because you can die at like 35 from a single fuck up”
The Single Player content though was... Disappointing. Not nearly as bad as Sm4sh, but it seems like they spent so much time putting as many characters and stages in the game as possible that they realized they wouldn’t have time to do old game modes the same way, so they made a system which allowed them to make custom smash battles with weird attributes and built the entirety of the bonus content on that. There’s really only adventure mode which is just a progression of Event Matches which gets somewhat stale and repetitive quickly, Mob Smash is just not really that fun past your first run or two, All-Star Smash is actually near impossible and not even rewarding, Classic does one or two cool ideas with routes but they clearly got lazy with a lot of characters there too, and the only platforming challenge in the game is the bonus level which takes 30 seconds and never changes.
Their Online mode is unacceptably bad and lacks options for random fights as well, and given that they’re charging for it this is just flat-out unacceptable. Buy it if you like playing Smash for the Multiplayer (which is almost everyone), but this is a hard pass if you were expecting a large amount of interesting content like Brawl’s Adventure mode had. Or are incapable of learning past a certain point, like me.
Katamari Damacy Reroll [Switch]
So after having played Forever earlier in the year and hearing how much praise this got, I had very High expectations! Unfortunately the controls are still ehhhhh and the game is surprisingly short; I beat it over the course of a 4ish hour flight. It’s definitely a lot nicer to you than Forever is, but in terms of amount of content it’s not aged well. If you’ve not played it before, pick it up on sale, but as far as I can tell this outing doesn’t add anything new to the original and it’s just a straight up re-release
Mario Tennis Aces [Switch]
So does anyone actually look forward to Mario Tennis Games? The past two have been husks of content and this one’s not really much better. The charging mechanic is interesting, but doesn’t feel that consistent or fair in some scenarios, but like was anyone waiting for this to get announced? Or is this just a “safe” series that sells okay and pads out the library for quick cash?”
It’s weird that they knew the Adventure mode was something fans really, REALLY wanted and touted it as some huge deal, even advertising it with a cool pre-rendered cutscene, and the whole mode with all challenges turns out to be at most a couple hours long, repetitive, and only actually has the two cutscenes (the 2nd being like 10 seconds). They made some silly RPG level up mechanic which didn’t feel like it made any difference, you can’t change your character so you’re really only learning how Mario plays, and it does a really poor job of explaining the different kinds of shots to you so it’s not even good for learning the game. I wasn’t expecting an experience worth telling for generations with the plot either, but even that gives up on itself; Luigi is possessed but he doesn’t do anything the whole game until you fight him, not even with the 3/5 power stones you have, and these power stones you spent the game collecting don’t do anything or matter because Bowser comes out of no where and “takes” the racket and power stones and challenges you to an admittedly fun boss fight. Not in a cutscene mind you, you’re just told this happens. It’s just lazy.
The game has some visual issues too; it’s missing any sort of stylistic flair and honestly just looks like an up-res’d Wii game, though with smoother models. Shadows flicker and cut through textures, and something weird’s going on with anti-aliasing that makes everything look blurry as hell too. I will say props for going to the effort of making tennis costumes for every character though; so that’s more effort than what went into Ultra Smash.
If you’re a huge, HUGE fan of Mario Tennis, go nuts. But uh, yeah this isn’t really worth your time for the price otherwise
Starlink: Battle for Atlas (Starter Pack) [Switch]
Yeah so it’s rich coming from me, but honestly this game is only hindered by the physical toys. As far as I can tell you can only play as generic Mr. No Personality or Fox, and then you only have the two options for weapons. The game could get interesting combat-wsie with the combinations of ships and like I think 14ish different weapons? But with just the starter pack you run through what the game has to offer pretty quick.
It is interesting though how I very rarely play Ubisoft games and hadn’t played one since their open-world formula milking, but right away I could tell that it was a Ubisoft open world game. There’s a lot to do, a lot of planets to explore, movement is fun and surprisingly easy, combat is pretty straightforward and has potential, but the key thing is that there’s like 30-50 facilities on each planets with like 4 different types of objectives (3 of which are “kill the same bad guys immediately here”), and you can spend hours on one planets doing some minor variance on that same thing over and over and over.
It’s a pretty good start in terms of base mechanics for what would be a cool system for an open StarFox game (and I know it wasn’t trying for that) but the repetitiveness of exploring, frankly pathetic writing in terms of characters, and locking a lot of the interesting content behind toys detracts from the experience. It’s definitely not un-fun, but after clearing 4 planets and seeing that’s just what the game is doing I don’t have any interest in continuing.
At least other than to see StarFox, because Ubisoft did them better justice than Nintendo has in years.
Best Game I Played in 2018: Celeste
Easy choice here, Celeste has a wonderful story, looks gorgeous, plays like a dream and managed to be an incredibly challenging platformer that didn’t make me lose my patience ever, which is AMAZING considering how little patience I have whenever I fail at a game.
I was going to pick the best game that actually came out in 2018 but honestly it’d be between like 4 games that I had gripes with in some way or another, so i’m going to say Overcooked 2 is pretty fucking solid and leave this whole run on sentence in the heading font because why not it’s my dead blog I can do whatever the fuck I wan-
Anyway that’s it. Hope everyone had a good year

puppynivans replied to your photoset “i have been playing a shitton of resident evil 6 and looking thru the...”
Cutie, I like the idea of the oversized stuff being Chris'. May I ask for a link of where you found the ebook?
@puppynivans sure! i went through a ton of hoops to get this so if i can save someone the same trouble that’d be great.
however i will warn you when i say ‘a ton of hoops’ i mean uh, a ton of hoops. including paying real money. i do intend to post at least the art for all of the characters including costumes if you want to just wait for me to do that.
first, you will need:
1. ability to understand some really basic japanese OR google translate extension (or equivalent) in your browser
2. a valid japanese mailing address - there are several free sites that provide this functionality, such as package forwarding services that give you basically a PO box in japan you can have items sent to that they will then ship to you for a fee. they don’t actually charge you anything or ask for your billing details unless a physical package arrives, so to use it for site verification like this is 100% free. you’re only ordering a digital item! i used jpn-depot.
3. about $17 you’re willing to part with via credit or debit card
https://books.rakuten.co.jp/rk/7791d230fc893f9ba76ccb6ee2066b35/
this is the book. DON’T try to go through amazon.co.jp for it. it may seem cheaper and more tempting because of its familiarity but turns out even with a VPN that says you’re in japan and a valid mailing address, they WILL suspend your account for suspected fraud. rakuten does NOT require you to use a vpn. all you need is your payment details and a japanese mailing address.
after you make an account, buy the book. it is pretty straightforward - lots of big buttons and such meant to guide you to buy - but again i recommend a translator extension for your browser if you don’t know basic japanese (even with my very.. very rudimentary understanding of japanese i used the translator a few times). then, in order to read it, you will need to download rakuten kobo’s free ereader application. you can find the download link here.
if you’re satisfied reading it in their app, then that’s it - you’re done. BUT if you’re like me and want to share scans (the app doesn’t let you take screenshots because of DRM, or copy protection) or read the book with an e-reader that isn’t rakuten kobo, there is a little bit more work involved...
this particular book comes with adobe DRM. kobo helpfully has a page (in english!) on its drm and how to download it. in adobe’s case, you need to go to kobo’s english store (https://www.kobo.com/) then go to My Account in the top right and select My Books:
you’ll be at your library, which, if you did everything right, the book should be there. click the three dots:
then click Download.
as you can see it has adobe DRM. click download file.
now you need a program that can open it, which is Adobe Digital Editions. we’re going to use Adobe Digital Editions 2.0.1 because using version 3 and up can cause Problems. you can go download that here.
you have to make an adobe ID for this if you don’t already have one. open adobe digital editions, click Help at the top then Authorize Account, make sure ‘adobe ID’ is what you have selected for ebook vendor, and enter your adobe credentials.
now, you’ll notice the file you downloaded is damn ass small. that’s because the REAL download starts when you open it with adobe digital editions. now that you’ve authorized your account with it, it downloads the ebook agonizingly slow and converts it to EPUB. expect this to take a while.
once you’re done with all of that, you can right click on the book in your adobe library and click ‘show item in explorer’. this will show you the location of the brand new EPUB.
but it’s still got DRM on it. so first we download calibre, a great free e-reader.
i’m not going to link it here because of dubious legalities but you should try googling ‘drm calibre’. you might find a tool, and with that tool you’d probably find a github link and ample documentation, like an FAQ on the sidebar that tells you how to install calibre extensions.
anyway, supposing you’ve gone and found all of that and installed it, open calibre then go to ‘add books’. remember how we clicked ‘show item in explorer’? find that book’s location now, add the book.
if your extension worked right, the drm should now be pruned - you can test this by opening the book in calibre to see if it gives you an error about DRM.
if it worked, right click on the title in your calibre library and click ‘save to disk’. save it wherever you want.
now the fun part - turns out EPUBs are just, like, basically html and some images. what you want to do is make a copy of this ebook, then rename it to have the file extension .zip. then extract its contents.
you should have a folder named OEBPS with a folder named ‘image’ inside. guess what’s inside! it’s all the pages!
anyway yeah this was a fucking venture for me and again i’m gonna post a bunch of the pages anyway if you just want to like...Wait for me to do that. im not going to post the full book because That’s Illegal but i think just uploading selected contents falls under free use.

Prompt: “Coming Home”
Prompt list Requested: U - Coming home LaFontaine & Perry
AN: Listen up before reading this - I obviously can’t know what parental term LaFontaine would want their kids to use with them, but I chose to go with my gut, and I understand that some of you may not agree with it. I personally didn’t feel like my written version of LaF would want the kind of mashup-title for genderneutral parents that the internet suggested to me, obviously there would be nothing wrong with them, but the version of LaFontaine that I write and understand would want a more traditional word, lowkey because they feel like their relationship and family with Perry is traditional in a sense and wants it to show, but anyway, I had a look at the available words already existing and “parent” just seemed way too impersonal, and I’m fully aware that LaF identifies with neither female or male expressions, but I chose to have them use a word that normally stands for mother, “ma”, but to me it sounded like it could mean whichever. If “pom” and “mad” are acceptable as genderneutral terms I don’t see why “ma” couldn’t be. I guess the point I’m trying to make is that in this fic, and to LaF and to me, the term “Ma” is 100% a genderneutral word. I just want to make sure that everyone knows I’m not putting a gender on LaF as a parent, or otherwise? I know everyone will have differing opinions on this, but I wanted to explain my point of view as I might continue using this term for them in other/future fics. Anyway, here goes!
Obviously, Perry and LaFontaine had spent years building their lives, building their home. It looked like it came straight out from a Pinterest board at this point, mixed with the cosy elements only Perry’s grandma-ish tendencies could bring to it. Not that LaF cared much about the decorations, but it was perfect.
But then again, regardless of where they were, LaFontaine had always felt like they were at home with Perry, or like Perry was home. Missing Perry was the same as feeling homesick, and every time they made some commitment, made some gesture or move that showed that they belonged together, it felt like a step closer to where they’d always been meant to be. After she came out of the possession and they transferred from Silas, it seemed to determine that no matter how far apart they’d grown, they’d still do whatever came next together. When they started up LaFerry industries, it was the most grown-up thing they’d ever done, but they were doing it with Perry, and even though they were already partners, becoming business partners as well felt like another step forward. Proposing had been a success - they’d planned it out perfectly since the age of six - and nothing else could have filled them with joy like the sight of the engagement ring on her finger.
Though as expected, of course, most joyful sight got replaced by the image of her walking down the aisle towards them in a white dress. It was a while before anything replaced that, but when it did, it knocked them off their feet completely.
A plus on a pregnancy test after months and years of research and experiments of a whole new kind. Endless models of embryos and DNA fusions, and they swore they could have fainted when it all proved fruitful. The feelings of happiness and content and pride and joy and nerves and excitement multiplied by the week after that, it seemed, every time she was sick in the morning, or they found her eating something funny, or when they had to buy new shirts because she kept outgrowing them.
------------3 pregnancies later-------------
They came through the door without knocking, putting their suitcase down on the floor and bending down to untie their shoes. It was getting harder every day to deal with their back, but they only had themself to blame for all the hours slouching over books and screens, after all. Before they’d gotten off either shoe, though, a small body slammed into them, tiny arms wrapping around their neck and a high voice all but yelling in their ear. “Ma’s home!”
They laughed, steadying themself on one knee so they could hug their youngest child close. “I aaaam!”
The five-year-old cuddled close, giving them a wet kiss on the cheek. “I missed yooou!”
“I missed you too, sweetheart,” they smiled and gave her (all their kids, knowing LaF’s pronouns, were well aware that they didn’t need to have a set gender, but three out of four seemed comfortable with the pronouns people assumed them to have so far, including Clarke, even if she was only five) one back. “What did you guys do today?”
“We drawed with the sticky colors--”
“The finger paint?”
“Yes, and we drived Queen and Rey and Flo to school, and we went grocery shopping, and then mommy had to clean out the fridge…”
They shook their head, amused smile on their face. Had to, sure... “Did she, now?”
“Uh-huh, and I helped!”
“Ohhh, what did you get to do? Did you get to eat the things that didn’t make it?”
“No…” she pouted. “Mommy said I couldn’t…”
They laughed, going to ruffle her hair a bit. Truly their child. “And she was probably right to say that, baby. What are they all doing now?”
“Rey and mommy are doing their hairs, Flo is doing homework, I don’t know where Queen is…”
LaF raised an eyebrow at that - they had no doubt Perry knew exactly where Quinn was, but still. “What do you say we go find her?” They got their shoes off and hoisted Clarke up on their hip, going around the house to find their firstborn. It didn’t turn out to be much of a mystery, however, as they spotted the calendar in the kitchen, remembering the day of the week. “It’s thursday, Clarke, Quinn’s at elf practise.”
Their wife’s voice called out from the nearby bathroom, then, having heard them through the open door. “LaFontaine, stop. She’s at band practise, and I will not have you teaching them another meme.”
“Why, what was wrong with the last one?” They grinned, going to peek into the room, finding nothing but utter ridiculousness - Perry and René, both with some sort of white goo in their hair, probably something to tame it slightly. All their kids had inherited Perry’s curls, but only René seemed to care about actually managing them, like their mother.
Perry raised an eyebrow at them. “For one, it was annoying not to be able to say ‘some’ without---”
René and Clarke both burst into loud song immediately, as if on cue. “Some-BODY ONCE TOLD ME, THE WOOORLD IS GONNA RO-”
The song stopped and both kids dissolved into a fit of giggles when Perry got more of the goo on her fingers and shushed them, booping dots of goo on the tips of both their noses. “I swear, one more word of that god-awful song…”
LaF mock-gasped and held a hand over Clarke’s mouth to silence her. “Hush, sweetheart, she’s attacking!”
“I noticed!” Clarke grimaced, wiping the goo off her nose with her sleeve.
“Don’t you mean you nose-ticed?”
Both children groaned out loud, and Perry rolled her eyes and went to kiss LaFontaine’s cheek. “Welcome home, darling.”
“GROSS!” Clarke declared loudly.
LaF shook their head, grinning. “You kissed my cheek only a few minutes ago!”
“But you and mommy are GROSS!”
“Are not!” They did their best to look offended, but Perry only laughed, smiling softly at them. “I don’t know, sweetie, we are pretty disgusting...”
“Yeah?” They raised an eyebrow, smile never leaving their face.
“Mhmm,” she nodded, her hands settling on the barely noticeable baby bump under her shirt. LaF’s face softened, and let Clarke down before going to cover Perry’s hands with theirs, giving her a proper kiss. “Did you have a nice daaay?”
She nodded, smiling happily at them, ignoring the sound of Clarke gagging and running out of the room. “We did, how was work?”
“The usual, the usual… I’m tired, but y’know, normal.”
“We saved some pasta for you, but I figured I’d reheat it and the sauce for you both when Quinn comes home, is that okay?”
“Of course,” they nodded, kissing her cheek softly before going to pat René’s back - they would have hugged them, if not for the sticky state of their hair. “Hey, R, how’d your test go?”
“Aced it,” they replied with a smug grin directed at LaF. “You were right, I didn’t have to study as much as I did.”
“You did really well with the studying, kid, I’m proud of you. Keep it up and you’ll thank me in high school.”
“I can’t remember all this until I go to high school,” they teased.
LaF rolled their eyes a bit. “Shush, you know what I mean.” René grinned and went to poke LaF’s ribs, but they backed away. “Nuh-uh, not with your hair. I’m staying away from both of you until that’s out.”
Perry rolled her eyes from where she stood, reorganizing the bathroom cabinet. “Because you care so much about making a mess or ruining your clothes? Please, I’ve been doing your laundry for twenty years. Besides, it’s not like it’s bleach.”
“Hey, I’m catching up on the laundry,” they defended themself.
Perry laughed out loud at that. “Oh yes, darling, only nineteen years to go, then.”
They huffed a bit, knowing there was nothing they could say to that, and Perry blew them a kiss before turning back to the cabinet. “René, sweetie, how long has it been now?”
“It’s been...exactly 27 minutes,” they replied, looking at the clock on the wall.
“Right, put your phone away, not in your pocket. We’re getting this out.”
LaFontaine backed towards the door. “Not staying to see this… see you two later.”
“You sound like we’re gonna come out of here bald,” Perry said with a raised eyebrow.
“I’ve no idea what’s in that, you never know,” they chuckled and pecked her lips once more. “I’m gonna go check on Flo,” they told her and left. They found Clarke watching cartoons in the living room as they made their way to knock on their son’s door. “Florence?”
“Come in,” he replied, sounding way too mature for a seven-year-old, but it wasn’t like LaF didn’t know someone else who’d been an adult since the age of five. They just hoped he didn’t feel the same kind of pressure his mother had. He was sat by his desk as they entered, looking frustrated.
“Hey, Flo.”
“Hey, ma…”
“Whatcha doing?”
“English homework,” he grumbled, bottom lip sticking out. “Why can’t the other classes be easy like science?”
They chuckled at that - it seemed the older kids of theirs had inherited both LaF’s affinity for science and Perry’s for social studies and languages, but Florence was into science and didn’t care much for other subjects. “You know, kid, most people don’t find science easy…”
“You do,” he said with a raised eyebrow.
“We do, and everyone finds different things easy, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t learn it all. What’s the assignment?”
“Writing about our favourite book, but miss Kenner said I couldn’t pick a science book, it has to be fictional,” he huffed, clearly annoyed.
LaF bit their lip so not to smile. “When is it due?”
“Next week…”
“How about I go get you a kid-friendlier version of Frankenstein tomorrow?”
He lit up then, his bright smile making their heart melt slightly. “Really? I can read Frankenstein?”
“Not the original one, you’ll get there when you’re older. But you’ll get the monster bits.” And no details on how their ma had transferred a sentient entity slash consciousness through a USB cable into the corpse of a vampire.
“And she’ll let me write about it?”
“Totally! It’s a classic, she should be thrilled.”
“Awesome!” He grinned, turning the lamp on the desk off, apparently done now. “Are mom and René still doing their hair treatment thing?”
“They just started taking it out, and Clarke’s watching cartoons. Wanna watch with her until Quinn comes home?”
“Yeah!” He bounded down the stairs and they followed as he ran to the couch, and LaF sat down between them, wrapping an arm around Florence as Clarke snuggled into their side wordlessly.
LaF kissed her hair gently before letting their head lean back against the couch, eyelids drooping, not realising how tired they were. They didn’t wake up until about an hour later, when Clarke shook their shoulder, quite gentle for being her. “Ma, Quinn’s home!”
They blinked and shook their head slightly, indeed hearing chatter in the kitchen. “Thank you for waking me up, sweetheart…”
Clarke grinned cheekily. “Mommy said I had to. And that I couldn’t tickle you awake.”
“That’s because your mommy’s nice,” they chuckled. “And you should take after her.”
“No fun!” The five-year-old chimed, shaking her head and making ginger curls fly in their face.
“Yeah, yeah…” they laughed and picked her up, carrying her into the kitchen on their hip to find Perry reheating the food for them and Quinn, who sat at the table talking animatedly about her day, but paused when she noticed them coming in, getting up to hug them tightly, and Clarke in the process. “Hi, ma!”
They hugged back with their free arm, leaning down to kiss her hair. “Hey, Quinn! Wanna start over? I want to hear about your day too…”
She nodded, smiling at them. “I hadn’t gotten that far anyway.”
“Great,” they grinned and put Clarke down on one of the chairs next to Quinn and moving to help Perry prepare the food as they listened. Boring classes, new band songs, friend drama… Florence and René both came in as well after a while, and it all turned into a big discussion about their P.E. teacher, with Clarke agreeing loudly with everyone as if she went to their school as well. They saw Perry’s gaze flitting between the kids by the table and the pot on the stove fondly, and they moved to gently rub her back, helping her keep an eye on both and almost shaking their head with a sort of disbelief, even after all this time, as they took it all in. Everything they’d ever dreamt to have was in this very room. Their dream as a kid to become a scientist was pretty well-represented in that they’d figured out a way for Perry and them to have biological children, and their more adult dreams - marrying Perry, having kids, having more kids, a family of their own… all there. This pregnancy was going to be the last one, they both knew that, but it felt right. LaFontaine and Perry with their five ginger kids was a home they’d always dreamed about coming home to.
(There had been times when they’d wondered if maybe they’d have kids inheriting other haircolours from the family, but so far they were all ginger with Perry’s curls. LaF wouldn’t have them any other way.)

Please, Please, Please. // Jubes & Jono
@short-fuse-long-jacket
It couldn’t have been more than a couple of weeks since the last time they were at Orthodox, and potentially the third time in the past month or two. Ever since their first visit Jono hadn’t had a very easy time masking just how much he’d wanted to go back, and back, and back. He hadn’t quite gotten to the point of going by himself, and he inwardly hoped he never irritated Jubilee to the point of her not wanting to go with him, what for all the pestering.
There were no secrets about how difficult it was for Jono to operate in everyday life without getting stared at and singled out. It was a large part of why he stuck to such a dark, monochromatic palette; he figured it helped him blend in, try to remain unassuming. He didn’t have to worry about that here, and the freeing effect that had was swift and clear. Tonight Jono wore a royal blue button down that was both more colorful and more fitted than his usual fare, unbuttoned partially down his chest for the sake of his intentionally loose bandaging, letting light seep through the cracks. The shirt was tucked neatly into a pair of dark wash jeans and his hand was tucked just as neatly in Jubilee’s, gesturing towards the first bar once they were into the thick of it. /Buy you a drink, luv?/
The second they were inside the actual club she could see the shift in Jono, his shoulders relaxing, his stance becoming less defensive. She gave his hand a squeeze, grinning up at him. It wasn't that she didn't find the other patrons interesting, she did, just after more than a few visits to Orthodox in the past months it had stopped being quite so enthralling, watching Jono hadn't.
She gave him an affectionate bump from shoulder to hip (her shoulder to hip anyway). "Just one, please, then can we dance?" She twisted a little, making her dress twirl out. Her outfit was a little less date-y than she'd worn the previous times they'd gone out, and was a little more Jubilee. From a distance the dress looked black with some kind of polkadot pattern, but up close you could see the PAC man graphics repeating along the fabric. It was finally warm enough to go without tights, but bright yellow heels, a messy braid and some hella blue eye shadow completed the look. "I have to tell you what Alex did today."
/Ugh,/ Jono replied automatically and with an equally dramatic eyeroll, even as he appreciated the twist and the swirl of fabric, his fingertips lightly brushing over the skin exposed by the scoop in the back of her dress. /And here I thought we were going to have a nice night,/ he added good-naturedly, his arm settling around Jubilee’s waist to keep her close, half due to the press of the crowd and half because he wanted to.
It wasn’t difficult to find a spot at the bar, because even in a place like this Jono managed to clear space for himself by virtue of being somewhat on fire, curls of energy sneaking through the purposefully careless bandaging. He leaned one elbow on the bar and nodded to the telekinetic behind it, who smiled at the both of them and nodded in reply; they were starting to get noticed as regulars, even in this sea of thoroughly noticeable mutants.
"Think again, hot stuff." She quipped, sliding her hand into his back pocket to keep her arm from being trapped between them (no other motive, none) and kept her expression as innocent as possible. The five seconds it lasted were probably the longest she'd gone without looking like some kind of trouble in years, but all good things must end. "We're gonna have an awesome night." She shot him a wink that fell somewhere between ridiculous and flirty (which was more or less where she lived).
They came up to the bar and people shifted to make room, though the way people parted here seemed less about fear and more about trying very politely to not get singed. Jubilee sent the bartender a jaunty salute when she nodded their way and waited for her to come over. The woman levitated some bottles and had them pouring in a complicated dance, the drinks smoothly hovering to the people who ordered them. When she finished that round she made her way to them, smiling widely.
Her voice came out in a smooth drawl, not like Rogue's, something further west that Jubilee found oddly comforting. "Welcome back. Something sweet for you," she tipped her head at Jubilee who nodded enthusiastically, and bottles were already leaving the shelves and counter behind her, "and you, ready to take the plunge?" She flicked her eyes to the side, giving the injection apparatus a significant look.
/Ah, not just yet, I don’t think. Thanks, Angel, luv./ They still weren’t 100% on whether that was her real name or a mutant moniker. Plenty of mutants outside of the X-Men had started adopting codename-esque nicknames, sometimes for fun but often for safety. Jono doubted that Angel had much to fear with the hulking four-armed man who often accompanied her to give side-eye to overly drunk or friendly clientele, but better safe than sorry.
Jono’s fingertips absently traced the scoop of the dress at Jubilee’s back before his hand flattened there, warm against her skin while he watched the floating bottles expertly and precisely pouring a drink with layers like a sunrise. His eyes spared the faintly glowing purple tube connected to the injector a brief look before turning his attention back to Jubilee with a smile in the corners of his eyes, content to pay her more attention than the room around them like she had been for him earlier. /That drink looks like it’ll have enough sugar to keep you goin’ for a few hours yet,/ Jono figured as he pulled a couple of bills out the pocket not occupied by her hand, sliding them across the bar.
When Angel went to take another order she sent a mental whisper to Jono, /You ever decide to try that, I'm paying./ She insisted. Since one of them didn't eat or drink it made splitting the bill a moot point, so she was calling dibs on that, should it ever happen. Not that she really expected it to any time soon though, so she was already planning to take him to a movie or concert next weekend.
"As if I need it." She replied, watching the bottles move back into place. Her drink levitated over over, layers mixing slightly. Jubilee called out a thank you to Angel, took a sip and repeated the thanks with even more enthusiasm. She'd taken to just saying she wanted something sweet and letting Angel figure the rest out, whatever this was had just a little bit of sourness to it to stop the sweetness from being too overpowering. "Our usual spot?" She asked, looking up at Jono to find his eyes already on her. She felt her cheeks heat but didn't look away like she might have done a month ago, instead she stretched up, silently asking for a kiss.
/We don’t even know how much that costs,/ Jono replied dubiously but not without an air of both amusement and absent affection; that she would even offer meant a lot. He inclined his head to bump his nose against Jubilee’s before pressing a kiss to her lips that would’ve lingered longer if not for the other people antsy to take their spot at the bar. He nodded lightly in response to her question as he straightened up, hand finding the small of Jubilee’s back so he could trail her through the crowd.
Their usual spot was a couch with a prime mix of privacy and a good angle for people-watching, something they had both learned to do with just the right level of discretion. Jono also figured that he’d had enough of being stared at in his life that he could return the favor every now and again.
He paused only briefly as they reached their (remarkably vacant) spot, frowning and taking advantage of his height to crane his neck over the crowd for a moment, then settled himself down next to Jubilee with long limbs stretched out as much as space would allow, and a thoughtful look. /Think I might’ve seen one’a my students./
She gestured as wide as she could in the cramped space with a wry smile on her lips. /Behold the field in which I grow my fucks. Long has it lain fallow./ She gave him a smile that said she wasn't going to budge on this.
She went up on her toes to return the kiss, pausing for a second before heading off into the crunch of people, knowing he'd be right behind her. When she made it to 'their' area she flopped onto the sofa with enthusiasm, sending her skirt into disarray, the bright yellow crinoline under it showing even after she tried to smooth to smooth it out. Whatever.
"Yeah?" Then a sudden thought and wave of responsibility, "Wait, current or former? Are they allowed to be here? Is that our job? Are we those adults now? Oh god, we're adults." The stream of consciousness ended there in horror, then another beat and then tentative after a sudden thought, though she honestly didn't think it was the case, "Are they not supposed to see us?"
Jono glanced at Jubilee with quiet amusement for the string of questions, stretching one arm over the back of the couch to rest comfortably around her shoulders. The last question seemed to surprise him, as if he hadn’t even considered it and wasn’t expecting her to ask (which, he hadn’t and he wasn’t). /I don’t give a toss whether they see us or whether they’re allowed to be here. S’one of my current students, and if you ask me, I should give them a specific assignment to come here./
Jono figured that if it could help his own self-consciousness -- of all the unhelpable, rock-bottom conditions -- it could probably help anyone.
/I think people’ve gotten the idea about us already,/ he added, deceptively casual in the tone of the statement. /At least, I’ve certainly caught wind of people talkin’./
"Ok, see? That's why you're the hot teacher. Mandatory club field trips. Also, sweet, I don't want to be that kind of adult." She settled back into her seat, snuggling up against him as much as she could while still being able to look at him. She wouldn't argue, the fact that this would be a positive experience aside, if they were here they weren't traveling to alternate dimensions or being kidnapped or brainwashed or any of the other things that happened when they went off on their own at that age. Maybe they'd have gotten in less trouble if they'd had something like this when they were a bit younger. "I'm not sure I want to know which one, I'll be too tempted to make finger guns at them in the hall." She secretly hoped it was Shark Girl. Lies. She secretly hoped it was all of them.
She bit her lip and looked away. "Yeaaaah. You've been gettin' that vibe too, then?" She set her drink down and fiddled with her braid. "I've gotten some questions...more than normal anyway." After they started...whatever this was, wasn't the first time she'd been asked if they were together. She'd assumed back then that it was just people assuming that men and women can't be friends, but now she wondered if they'd seen something she hadn't.
She grinned, waggling her eyebrows. “Guess we've stirred up the rumor mill a little. What have you been hearing?" Her favorite so far was definitely the one about their secret engagement, not that she'd be the first to bring that particular one up, even if she did find it hilarious.
Jono chuckled absently and shook his head when Jubilee wiggled her eyebrows, giving her shoulders an affectionate squeeze that doubled as pulling her in to nuzzle against her temple, mindful of where his bandages parted. /I think yer just a little more approachable than I am./ Understatement of the century. /Haven’t gotten a lot of direct questions, but I’ve noticed my students exchanging looks when yer walkin’ me to class. Roxy did ask point-blank if there was somethin’ goin’ on between us, though./
Bling always was one of the more forward in his class, and Jono honestly admired her for that. It was typical for mutants with very obvious mutations to become withdrawn -- much like Jono -- but Roxy was too strong-natured for that.
/So, I told her yes,/ Jono finished with a small shrug, then seemed to have a thought as he shifted uncomfortably. /Kurt kinda caught wind earlier’n most. Early enough that I insisted nothin’ was goin’ on and that I was sure you only saw me as family, because… that’s what I thought, at the time./
She felt a wisp of flame lick near her face when he tugged her close, just a little flash of heat before it was gone again and it didn't stop her from leaning into his touch.
"Only a little." She teased, "Might have something to do with me being a nosy neon weirdo." A grin showed that she wasn't being self deprecating at all, she liked all those things about herself. "Or it might be that people are still like, mega-protective of me and hafta check on me every ten minutes." She felt confident in guessing more staff had talked to her than Jono, though she got her fair share of student interest too.
She was pretty sure they'd gotten similar looks when people saw them together before, and they just hadn't noticed. She didn't correct him. What she did do was cover her face to laugh, her words coming through muffled. "Course Rox asked. That girl, she's not subtle." She shook her head, a proud sort of smile on her face. Someday she was going to realize she didn't need to be quite as tough as she looked, and then she was going to be damn near unstoppable. She wondered if she should tell Jono how Roxy came out to her, but was more interested in something else just then. "What did she say to that?" She wanted to know what he said to her, beyond 'yes' but didn't ask.
She was sure there were going to be all kinds of questions at the GSA meeting this week, she made a mental note not to get her hopes up about actually accomplishing anything with them.
Her eyes softened when he started to look cagey. She'd seen a lot more of his shy and hesitant side in the last couple months, it was something she found unbearably cute. "Hmmm. Well I'm glad I set you right." She reached for his hand and traced over the lines of his palm with her fingertips. The way his hand felt against hers was definitely not familial. "Did you tell Kurt that he was right?"
"A couple of the students I know well have asked. An' Trevor keeps giving me these super significant looks with all his eyes at once," she rolled hers, and then it was her turn to look uncomfortable. "It's actually been mostly staff that have talk to me? Most of 'em have been really cool." She didn't bring up that some had not been as enthusiastic.
/Really?/ Jono’s tone was flat and thoroughly dubious, the word a borderline scoff as his fingers wandered absently over her shoulder, eventually giving it an affectionate squeeze. /Would’ve thought it’d be a full chorus of ‘you’re too good for him,’/ he continued, in such a way that suggested he probably agreed with the sentiment.
He watched Jubilee’s fingers trace his palm before he shook his head and curled his fingers in to lace between hers, the calloused pads of his fingertips against her knuckles. /Roxy didn’t say much, since I didn’t say much. Just sorta narrowed her eyes at me and went back about her business. I think Trevor’s given me some of the same looks,/ Jono added with amusement, since it was pretty difficult for Trevor not to give anyone a ‘significant look.’
/’Onestly, I’m expectin’ the overprotective shotgun brigade at my door any day now, with Logan front ‘n center./ He had to glance away and over the crowd as he said so, eyes narrowing briefly with an emotion that was difficult to pin down.
She gave his hand a hard squeeze, equal parts punishment for the implication and reassurance that it wasn't true. "Yes, really. Rogue and Alison were both super cool, Remy too. The main concern has actually been how different we are, but I got questions about how this," she gestured at herself, them him, then between them, "worked when we were just friends."
She wondered if she should expect some kind of talking to from Roxy, if not more of Jono's students. As awkward as the prospect would be, she liked the idea of them looking out for him. Speaking of..."I talked to Logan and...it went ok. He's protective and yeah, he doesn't really get it." She squeezed his hand again, "but I told him he doesn't need to. He just needs to respect that I know what I'm about and not be an ass." That conversation had gone the second least well of all the ones she'd had about Jono. It probably would have been worse if Logan ever said more than the bare minimum of what was on his mind. Bobby however, had no such qualms."I'm not going to lie, he's probably going to talk to you. A couple other people might too." He wasn't meeting her eyes and it sent a spark of worry through her. "And...I'd get it if that's not something you want to deal with." Her hand loosened a little incase he wanted to pull away. She didn't want to believe he would, but past experience said not to bank on it. "Logan's hard enough to work with without..." she repeated the gesture between the two of them before leaving it there simply because she didn't know what to call whatever it was they were doing. She gave a sigh and looked down at her skirt. So much for an awesome night.
/Hey,/ Jono murmured, the tone as she trailed off being enough to bring his attention more respectfully back to the conversation, letting go of Jubilee’s hand only in favor of using his fingertips to tilt her chin in his direction again. /No, I don’t want to deal with it. I’m not gonna lie and tell yeh otherwise. But what we have is worth it, and it’s like yeh said: whether I or other people think yeh deserve better isn’t for us to decide, tha’s for you. Yeah, it might uncomfortable. But you know I’m not exactly easily intimidated./
It was probably the most Jono had thought about the situation, and certainly the most he’d said about it in one sitting so he gave a shrug, shifted uncomfortably, and felt the need to add, /Tha’s my feelings on it, anyway. If anyone wants to start somethin’ with me, they’re welcome to try./ Jono doubted there was much anyone could say to him that he hadn’t already thought of or about himself.
She let him guide her back to eye contact, though her gaze would almost certainly have snapped back a second later at what he said, a flare of irritation clear on her face. "You shouldn't have to put up with it!" There might have been an undercurrent of insecurity because other people had opted not to risk it, but she pushed that down. If she wanted him to accept that he was worth it, she needed to be willing to do the same. It was just...she bristled at the idea of this being something that made his life more difficult than it already was. As if he didn't already question his value like, all the time. He didn't need people adding fuel to that fire (no pun intended). She was just really getting going in her head when he followed it up with something that cooled her anger.
Her irritated half sulk turned into a tentative half smile. "Me too, worth it, I mean, me think that it's worth- fuck." She covered her face with her hands. /I think it's worth it too. I just wish folks would stay in their lane./
/I wish that every day of my life,/ Jono replied with a good-natured chuckle, inclining his head to nuzzle Jubilee’s temple while she had her face covered. /I appreciate you bein’ pissed on my behalf./ The reasoning behind it wasn’t lost on him, and he gave her shoulders an appreciative squeeze, tucking her in closer against his side.
/An’ while I want to give you the whole ‘they’re just lookin’ out for you,’ I also wish they’d realize you can look out for yerself./ It was a sentiment he often expressed and unfortunately, one that had plenty of reason to persist. If Jono was tired enough of being treated like a leper, surely Jubilee was just as tired of being treated like everyone’s kid sister.
She cuddled in, letting her hands drop from her face. "Don't laugh at me, I'm a beacon of poise and perfection and I will fight you."
She blew out a breath, her bangs blowing everywhere. "Anyway, only Logan and Bobby have been shitty. Everyone else has been some mix of cool and supportive, with optional side orders of protective or teasing." She swept her fingers through her bags, hoping to put them in order. "Allison was like, high-key pleased. Wanted to know when I started being into bad boys." She gave him a smile, hoping this would be enough to change the subject. She picked up her drink and took another sip. "You know, I might be the thing that ruins your reputation."
An eyeroll to accompany the mention of Bobby’s name was inevitable. Jono had anticipated Logan, and while he hadn’t necessarily expected Bobby, he was hardly surprised. He wondered whether or not that would end up being a conversation, and if so, whether either of them would make it out alive.
/Never much cared for my reputation either way,/ he murmured, unsurprisingly. There was amusement in his eyes again as he brushed his thumb over the curve of Jubilee’s shoulder, attention wandering back into the crowd. /Y’should probably be more worried about yours, datin’ a ‘bad boy’ like me./ That phrase was dosed with more than enough sarcasm to get his point across.
She gave him an extra squeeze, grateful for his putting up with her crazy family and a commiserating look about Bobby. She loved him like a brother but he never did know when to drop the jokes which landed the ice cube in hot water on at least a biweekly basis. And Jono was one tall glass of hot water.
"Psh. My rep is untarnishable. I mean, it's also beyond inaccurate, but if trends continue I've got nothin' to worry about. You though?" She shook her head in mock pity. "S probably for the best that you don't care. You keep acting all sweet to me and that scowl is gonna stop work-" she paused, his words having sunk in and leaving a her a little surprised and a lot pleased. "Dating?" She angled herself a little more towards him. "Is that what we're doing?" It came out a little uncertain, a little teasing and a little shy. "I mean, it's what we're doing but," another pause, this time to bite her lip and look up at him through her lashes, a little smile on her lips, far more optimistic about his answer after the rest of their conversation. "Neither of us have really called it that...So what do you think, Sparky, wanna go steady?"
The word -- ‘dating’ -- had slipped out so naturally and without a second thought that Jubilee’s reaction surprised him for a moment. Jono raised his eyebrows and looked back to her as she leaned in, and the fluster was nearly instantaneous; his cheeks flushed, and it had nothing to do with being a tall, hot glass of water.
/I mean… / If he’d had a throat left to clear, he would’ve done it, stalling with a hesitant shrug instead. /I’d probably never recommend anyone ‘go steady’ with me. But I hear yer pretty difficult to dissuade,/ Jono added, reaching up to brush at her bangs with his fingertips. /So, if yeh’ll have me./ He trailed off again, and with another faint shrug he nodded, the look in his eyes warm.
/Then, yeah. … I’d like that, sunshine./
He was...fucking adorable, she decided, watching the blush spread above the bandages and wondering what she'd have to do to get him to look that way more often. Probably just keep being as into him as she already was and well....she was pretty sure she could manage that without much trouble.
She leaned up and kissed him softly, a smile on her lips. "I am known for my tenacity." When she settled back in and he swiped her bangs out of her eyes she joined him in blushing. She wanted to make a comment about 'having' him but passed it over in favor of responding with the same sincerity.
"I'd like that too." She tugged him down to her to brush her nose against his, staying close and talking low. "Not gonna lie, I've been high-key holding back by not callin' you my boyfriend. It'll be nice to not haveta skirt around it, I've...kinda wanted to call you that for a while."
/Really?/ The surprise was instantaneous and almost comical, not to mention genuine; Jono wasn’t doubting the sentiment nor was he teasing her for it, he was legitimately caught off-guard.
/I mean-- tha’s good,/ he was quick to add, the hand he didn’t have resting on Jubilee’s shoulder moving to settle on her knee with a tentative squeeze. His eyes softened and he gave something like a chuckle, shaking his head and glancing down. /Bit of a miracle anyone considers me boyfriend material anymore. Lord knows I’ve been told the opposite plenty ‘a times./ By Paige and others. He looked up again to meet Jubilee’s eyes and brushed his calloused fingertips lightly against her jawline, still not sure how he got so lucky -- or when he would manage to screw it up. /’M also more than happy to consider yeh my girlfriend, luv./
Jubilee punched him in the shoulder. Not as hard as she could have, but not exactly joking around either. "Duh!" She shook her head, huffing at his astonishment. What did he think she wanted with him?
She gave a little eye roll at the phrase 'boyfriend material'. Material had to be changed, had to be made into something else. It was true that she desperately wanted Jono to be happy and more comfortable with himself, but she wanted those things for him and she wanted him regardless of whether he ever made it to that point. Regardless, semantics wasn't a battle she was picking today.
She turned her head to press a kiss to one of his fingertips, the skin warm and rough against her lips and familiar. Her lips quirked up at the memory of how he'd managed to stop her cold with a touch there before any of this started.

BTS Reactions ~ Date Night~[Hyung Line]
I’m actually posting content!?!? ik, right?? And its a long one! This has taken me all month to finally finish, so I hope it turned out good <3 Now to see how long Maknae line takes me...
Links and m/l in my bio~
𝕊𝕖𝕠𝕜𝕛𝕚𝕟
Date nights are in stone for him. Every Thursday night his schedule was cleared for you and if something came up it’d better get cleared or he would have some words. Same goes for you. Oh, your friends thought it would be nice to go to a movie with you on a Thursday night? That’s cute, better pick a different day though. Oh, your boss needs you that night? Ya, no. They better get someone else. And if they have a problem they can take it up with him.
Some weeks date nights would be the only time you both would have the chance to see each other, so that alone would make him very insistent about it. I think hes the type to really value time together, so he would cherish the nights you had and would do what he needed to to make every one special. In his own way of course. They would start out early, maybe 5pm or earlier if you were both free. He would bring you to his apartment so you both could deescalate from all the chaos of the week prier, he would have groceries delivered so the both of you wouldn’t even have to leave if you didn’t want to. Sometimes he would cook, or you both would cook together. Other nights you would splurge and he would take you out to dinner somewhere nice. Somewhere with a gorgeous view and expensive wine. I feel like he wouldn’t be insistent on “dressing for the occasion” if you were both tired. He’s Jin, he could wear sweatpants to a 5 star restaurant and no one would bat an eye. And he would still call you beautiful if you showed up in pajamas and messy hair.
Whether you decided to stay in or not he would make sure you had both eaten until you were full and content, wanting to take you back to curl up together on the couch. You would watch something silly together, maybe some bad horror movies, anything you didn’t have to pay too much attention to because you would most likely be talking through it anyway. Talking, wrestling, lots of tickle fights, with sweet kisses in between. Every moment would be carefree with him, every Thursday becoming your weekly getaway from the stresses of real life. And he would make it a point to be like that, real life could start at midnight and you could talk and rant about your lives then, but Thursdays were vacation.
I also don’t see him letting you leave until morning, whatever that entailed~
𝕐𝕠𝕠𝕟𝕘𝕚
I doubt he would even call it date night, but that’s what it would be. I see it being spur of the moment, never planned longer than a week in advance unless it was a special occasion. Or unless he planned something in secret. I see it being really casual as well. It could even be the both of you running some errands and grabbing a bite to eat, but you would be together. Whatever you could work into your busy schedules. Sometimes if it was an off day you both had he would want to just sit around and do nothing, but would be more than pleased if you were willing to sit around and do nothing with him.
And I mean nothing. As soon as you were over you would just laze around in his room, never leaving it if you didn’t have to. You might curl up with a laptop on his bed in a pillow fort while he online shopped or something. Listening to a playlist you both put together, breaking away from your devices to chat occasionally. You would both order some delivery and just hope that someone else was home to bring the food to his room so you wouldn’t have to venture out and be social. Some time into the day you would have fallen asleep; all curled up by your laptop, and he would wake you by dragging you into his arms and playing with your hair. He would tell you how much it meant to him to just be able to spend casual time together with you, even if you weren’t really doing anything.
But on a night out things would be different. You both would go somewhere classy ™. Classy and quite, probably on an off day too. You’d both sit in a corner by a window so you could people watch in peace. You’d sit and gossip and throw shade for hours over several glasses of wine. He’d tell you about how the wines he was picking were made, or even about the furniture or architecture in the restaurant. I feel like it’d be mostly him talking on a night out, all with his hands (especial after the wine) and he would just be living off of your reactions, however small they might be.
ℍ𝕠𝕤𝕖𝕠𝕜
(I just reallly wanted to use this gif, and I may have been overly inspired by it. Oops xD)
I feel like he would be the most planed. If its gonna be a date, its gotta be a DATE. Any other night you two were together could be casual, but once he had time on an excuse to go all out that’s exactly what he would do. I could see him making reservations for some place that’s super difficult to get into (I mean not for him cuz hes J-fucking-HOPE but~) Some place you’ve gotta count the 0′s next to the prices to be sure you read that right. He’d already prepare for you freaking out about not owning anything nearly lavish enough to be seen in a place like that. He’d just tell you to go open your closet and once you did there would be this brand new outfit for you, shoes and all. It’d be something booshie like Versace, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent etc. He’d take the price tags off so you couldn’t freak out about how much he was spending too, probably also rummaged through your closet months ago just so he knew your sizes. I see him renting a car for him to drive you rather than a driver, something sporty. Once you parked; valley, He walk you down towards the front entrance, his hand at the small of your back. It’d be so godamn fancy that paparazzi would be snapping pictures, and there would be plenty of other celebrity’s around. Probably poses for the cameras, spins and dips you to show you off because he would be proud to be spotted with his s/o so publicly. 100% gonna check the headlines to see the pics of you two once you both ordered.
But most nights you two would just goof around, maybe go to a karaoke night, or go shopping together. Maybe grab some burgers and head over to the company building so he could show you some dances he had been working on. Probably scream with you being extra competitive in an arcade until they kick y’all out at closing xD

Date nights? Nononono. Date Days. Most days I don’t really see him being that into planning either. Prefers to pick a general destination and lets things progress “organically” from there. I see him showing up at your door on your day off with a couple of bicycles he rented. Maybe a cute bouquet of flowers he may or may not have dropped a couple of times on the way over. You would usher him inside and ask him how he even got all the way to you with two bikes and one free hand. A story for the ages. After you put the flowers in a vase and kissed him thank you he would already be dragging you towards the door, not wanting to wast any time. He already would have a destination in mind, somewhere quite on the outskirts of town a few miles out. Somewhere you could sit and enjoy the scenery, but close by to some local shops and restaurants he would be excited to visit. You would take the long way there, biking side by side through back neighborhoods and parks, maybe stopping by a lake to chase the birds and goof around in the water while looking for fish.
Once you arrived you would ditch the bikes and stroll around through town. You would shop around and find a bunch of unique jewelry and clothing you would both be dying to add to your collections. Might have to hold him back from buying too much. Mid afternoon he would take you to a nature sanctuary. You would sit out in the grass by a stream among all sorts of trees and flowers. He would hold your hands while you lay back and talked for hours, watching the clouds and just enjoying how peaceful it was. He would share his thoughts and feelings, probably spilling his heart out to you and letting it be known just how much he appreciates the time you had. Once it got dark you would go back into town and find a small restaurant to eat at before heading back home. The way back would be just as care free, basking in the moonlight and watching the stars and headlights passing by. Probably stays the night at your place, and asks for your help returning the bikes come morning~
