TSAU Season 1 Finale - Part 1
It's about damn time I go over the TSAU's version of the remaining season 1 finale, as well as episode 1 of season 2, so HERE WE ARE! I am too lazy to adapt the entire thing into a proper comic, especially considering several plot points remain rather unchanged from canon, so we're doing whatever this format is instead.
(You should read Cell Talk and Gearing Up before this if you haven't already)
But a quick recap, the Gearing Up comic ended with Draxum in the Dark Armour going up to the surface with Mikey to start with the whole conquering humanity thing. Raph and Leo have offically joined Team Good Guys and they, alongside Donnie, Splinter, April, Shelldon and Mayhem went after Draxum to stop his evil plans.
When they make surface, Draxum and Mikey have already started their rampage and are just kinda wrecking the baseball stadium. The Foot are also at the stadium, clearly still expecting The Shredder to show up or something. Team Good Guys (yes that's their name now) figure it's probably good to try to get whatever info about the Dark Armour they can so April and Mayhem teleport to where The Foot are to try to gather some intel that might help them in the fight against Draxum.
Meanwhile, the others start fighting Draxum and Mikey. Draxum is low-key kinda baffled that Raph just straight up switched teams lmao. Leo is one thing, but Raph has always been so loyal and responsible so it's real suprising that he's completely disobeying orders. None of the Draxum family members are really enthusiastic about fighting each other (except maybe Mikey he's kinda pissed at this point) but they engage in battle anyway. Donnie, Shelldon and Splinter are less hesitant about kicking Draxum's ass and don't really hold their punches lmao. Despite that they're kinda struggling considering both Drax and Mikey are so strong, but that's when April and Mayhem teleport back with that useful intel!
What April learned from her intel-gathering is that The Foot think there is some kind of flaw with the armour, like in canon, you know the deal. What differs from canon is exactly how that flaw occured. Turns out that Donnie when he was younger got a little bit carried away with giving Shelldon cool powerful weapons and Shelldon enced up accidentally shooting up the teapot to smithereens, oopsie! Donnie managed to reassembe it before Splinter saw, but with one of the pieces having gone missing he had to sacrifice his Atomic Lass figurine to plug up the final hole (he's still upset about that to this day btw). BUT POINT IS, like in canon this means that the armour has a obvious weakpoint and if they hit that it might be enough to knock Draxum out of the armour!
You know what happens next, they resume the fighting with this new strategy in mind and eventually they manage to get a lucky hit in and as predicted knocking out the Atomic Lass toy causes Draxum to get knocked out as well. Except YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS and you know it's not quite that easy. Lo and behold, the Atomic Lass figurine was the last thing keeping The Shredder from being resurrected, so now that it's gone? Yeah, the Dark Armour is finally completed, it slurps Draxum's life-force or whatever and then spits him out.
The Shredder is back.
... Except not entirely of course, like in canon he's acting like a wild animal attacking anything that moves, but regardless it's still a new threat they have to deal with. With Draxum being so hurt, Leo makes the decision to portal him back home, and to also send Mikey with him. Both because Draxum probably needs someone to look after him and also Leo doesn't really wanna deal with Mikey's attitude at the moment with everything else going on lmao.
From here on out the battle against Shredder begins. This too goes mostly the same way as in canon, Shredder kinda kicks all of their asses before suddenly teleporting away, and then that song and dance repeats a couple of times before Team Good Guys figure they need a better strategy. Splinter brings up how Big Mama would probably have a way to subdue Shredder, only problem is that it's BIG MAMA and he does NOT wanna go anywhere close to her. In canon Leo brought Splinter with him to BM anyway, but in the AU he kinda respects Splinter, or rather Lou Jitsu, too much to force him to come along. Instead Leo decides he and Raph will go to BM for help, while the others keep Shredder from completely wrecking New York.
The rest of the finale continues in Part 2!

Part 2
Chishiya x reader x Niragi
After winning another game, you found two boys. Unconscious, bleeding, and kind of pretty too. Anyways, you were an angel, so you took them in, and now, they’re waking up in your fancy apartment.
(Not roasted Niragi, this is an era between the two boys being executives at the beach and Arisu arriving, no actual romance just Niragi making moves to have fun, english NOT my first language)

The first thing Niragi registered when he regained consciousness was the feeling of something soft. Too soft. His brain, still foggy from unconsciousness, automatically assumed one of two things:
1. He was dead.
2. He was dreaming about being rich.
But when he blinked and his vision cleared, revealing a glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling and a suspiciously clean marble floor, he realized something much more unsettling.
He wasn't fucking dead.
This was worse.
He groaned, shifting, and that's when he felt it—pain. A dull, aching pain everywhere. His body had been through some shit, and moving made him immediately regret waking up.
That's when he heard it.
A voice.
Calm. Unfazed. Judgmental.
"So you survived. Unfortunate."
Niragi's head snapped to the side. And of course. Of course. The first thing he had to see after surviving whatever fuck had happened was the one fucking guy he hated more than anyone else.
Chishiya.
That smug bastard was sitting up on the couch opposite him, looking as bored as ever, one arm draped over the backrest like he was on vacation. His expression was unreadable, but Niragi knew that if he had died, this dude would've been the first to loot his body.
"Wow." Niragi croaked, voice hoarse. "You're still alive? That's what's unfortunate.”
Chishiya didn't even flinch. He just tilted his head slightly, eyes scanning Niragi like he was trying to calculate how much blood loss it would take to kill him. "Tragic, isn't it?"
"Deeply."
Before Niragi could force himself up and punch him, something shifted in the room. A presence. A sweet one.
"Good morning! You're finally awake!"
Both of them turned their heads.
There, standing in front of them, was you.
And holy shit.
You looked like you didn't belong in this world. At all. Too clean. Too soft. Too... nice. Like some angelic creature that had somehow survived this thing with sheer kindness and, possibly, black magic.
Chishiya stared at you with interest, already analyzing. Niragi, on the other hand, openly squinted.
"What the fuck?"
You smiled warmly. "Oh, I found you two unconscious and bleeding out, so I took you in and patched you up!"
Silence.
"You did what?" Niragi snapped. "Why the fuck would you do that?!"
Your expression didn't change. "Because you were dying."
"And?" Niragi looked deeply offended. "That's how things work. People die. It's the natural order of—"
Chishiya cut in. "What he's trying to say is that you wasted your time."
You blinked. "You think saving you was a waste of time?"
Chishiya gave a small, indifferent nod. "Correct."
Niragi scoffed, trying to push himself up, only to immediately regret it as pain shot through his body. "Ow, fuck—"
"You really shouldn't be moving that much yet." you said, stepping forward instinctively, only for Niragi to flinch like you were about to stab him.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Niragi barked, pointing a shaky finger at you. "Back up, Care Bear. I don't trust this."
Chishiya exhaled, unimpressed. "Obviously. If you trusted this, you'd be dumber than you already are."
"Shut the fuck up, bitch."
You clasped your hands together, watching them. "So... you two know each other?”
Both of them immediately turned to you and spoke at the same time.
"No." (Niragi.)
"Unfortunately." (Chishiya.)
You giggled. Giggled. Niragi stared at you like you were an alien, while Chishiya simply observed.
"Well, I'm Y/N." you introduced yourself, smiling brightly. "And you're currently in my home! Don't worry, I don't expect you to do anything in return. Just rest up until you're better."
Niragi, still processing, slow-blinked. "Okay. Yeah. Cool. But—why the fuck do you have such a fancy-ass apartment?"
You beamed. "Oh, I just found it! No one was left, so I took it!"
"...That's kind of fucked up."
You tilted your head innocently. "Would you rather I left it empty?"
Niragi opened his mouth. Closed it. Stared at you. "Okay, you're too calm. This is weird. You're weird."
Chishiya hummed. "Agreed. People like you don't exist anymore."
You simply shrugged. "I don't know what to tell you. You two looked like you needed help, so I helped."
Silence.
Then Niragi scoffed, shaking his head. "Yeah, okay, but I'm still not thanking you."
Chishiya leaned back, smirking slightly. "Obviously. You have no manners."
Niragi shot him a glare. "Neither do you, dickhead."
"Incorrect. I have excellent manners. I just choose not to use them."
You giggled again, and it was honestly disturbing. Niragi wasn't used to this—actual warmth. It made his skin crawl. He eyed you like you might secretly be a serial killer.
Chishiya, meanwhile, just looked at you thoughtfully. "So. What happens now?"
You smiled. "Well, now you both get to heal up in peace! And maybe eat something."
Niragi's eye twitched. "This is a trap."
Chishiya nodded slightly. "I second that. This is suspicious."
You pouted. "You think I saved your lives just to poison you?"
"Yes." both of them said at the same time.
You laughed. "You two are funny."
"No." Chishiya corrected. "He's just loud."
Niragi turned to him, jaw dropping. "Oh my god, do you ever shut up?"
Chishiya tilted his head. "No."
You just smiled sweetly. "Well, at least you have each other!"
Both of them physically recoiled at that.
"Fuck no." (Niragi.)
"Don't say that again." (Chishiya.)
You giggled. Again. It was terrifying.
"So," you chirped, tilting your head slightly. "What are your names?"
Niragi and Chishiya both went silent.
Chishiya, to be fair, had already been silent—watching, listening, assessing—but Niragi? He was actively avoiding answering. You could see it in his face, the way his lips pursed slightly, the tiny furrow in his brow. He didn't like giving out information. Neither of them did.
But you? You were patient.
Chishiya, as expected, was the first to break the silence. "Chishiya."
You nodded, smiling warmly. "Chishiya." you repeated. "That's a nice name."
Chishiya hummed noncommittally, watching you. It was strange—his expression was almost completely blank, but you could feel his thoughts running at high speed, analyzing, picking apart everything you said.
That was fine. You were used to it.
Then you turned to Niragi expectantly.
He narrowed his eyes. "Why do you wanna know?"
You blinked. "Because I saved your life?"
"Tch." He looked away, muttering, "It's Niragi."
You smiled, pretending you didn't hear the hostility in his tone. "Nice to meet you, Niragi."
Niragi made a face, shifting uncomfortably. "You're really too nice.”
Chishiya let out a quiet chuckle, like Niragi being irritated was mildly entertaining. "Not used to kindness?"
Niragi shot him a glare. "No, actually. I'm allergic."
"Ah." Chishiya nodded in mock understanding. "That explains the rash on your personality."
Your eyes flicked between them, amused. "Do you two always talk to each other like this?"
"Yes." (Chishiya.)
"No, usually it's worse." (Niragi.)
You giggled. Niragi visibly shuddered. "Stop doing that."
"What?"
"That creepy little giggle. You sound like a horror movie.
"That's just how I laugh!"
"Yeah, well, laugh worse."
Chishiya leaned back, crossing his arms. "You're deflecting."
"No shit, Sherlock."
You smiled, unbothered. "So... how long have you two known each other?”
Chishiya barely reacted. Niragi, on the other hand, let out an exaggerated groan. "Too fucking long."
"Not long enough," Chishiya muttered. "considering you're still alive."
You just watched them bicker, your head tilted slightly in curiosity.
Chishiya was fascinating.
The way he spoke, the way he moved—there was control in everything he did. He gave just enough to keep the conversation going but not enough to actually reveal anything. You recognized it immediately.
You had worked with people like him before.
People who knew they were smart. Who didn't trust easily. Who lived in their heads more than in the real world. Who stayed five steps ahead, always.
You also knew that someone like him? He wasn't just naturally like this.
Something had made him this way.
You turned to Niragi next. And, oh.
It didn't take a trained professional to see that Niragi had shit going on.
But you were a trained professional.
And holy shit.
He was wound so tight. Every move was a defense mechanism—every word, every glance, every breath dripping with aggression. His hostility wasn't random; it was habitual. Built over years of... something.
You didn't need to know the details to know that he had been hurt before. Badly. Which was exactly why he was acting like this now.
Still, you didn't press. Not yet.
Instead, you just said, "You two seem... different."
Niragi scoffed. "No shit."
Chishiya's gaze flicked to you. "What gave it away?"
You shrugged playfully. "Just a hunch."
Niragi let out a dramatic sigh, leaning back into the couch. "So, what, you used to be a detective or something?"
You smiled sweetly. "A therapist, actually."
Silence.
"No." Niragi immediately sat up, despite the pain. "I'm out."
Chishiya's lips quirked in mild interest. "That makes sense."
You blinked at Niragi, concerned. "You shouldn't be moving so much yet—"
"No. No. I refuse to be psychoanalyzed."
"I wasn't going to psychoanalyze you." you said, smiling. "I mean, unless you want me to?"
Niragi looked at you like you had just suggested murder. "Absolutely fucking not."
Chishiya, meanwhile, was still staring at you. Thinking. You could practically see the gears turning in his head.
A therapist.
That was new.
That meant you weren't just naive. You weren't just blindly nice.
You understood people.
Which meant you understood him.
And that? That was more dangerous than any gun.
You just smiled. "Well, don't worry. You're safe here. I won't make you talk about anything you don't want to."
Niragi narrowed his eyes. Suspicious. "For real?"
"For real."
"...Fine." He relaxed slightly, though he still looked deeply untrusting.
Chishiya, on the other hand, was watching you even more intently now.
"You're not what I expected." he admitted.
You tilted your head. "What did you expect?"
"Someone either stupid or desperate."
You laughed softly. "Well, I'm neither."
Chishiya's lips quirked again. "Clearly."
Niragi groaned. "Oh my god, don't start liking her."
Chishiya barely reacted. "I don't like anyone."
"That's what I'm saying!" Niragi waved a hand at you. "She's too nice. It's suspicious."
You just smiled. "I guess you'll have to deal with it."
Niragi muttered something under his breath, slumping back down. Chishiya simply watched you a little longer before finally closing his eyes, as if filing everything away for later.
You knew this was just the beginning.
But you weren't worried.
You had time.
Niragi was staring at the ceiling. Chishiya, ever the picture of nonchalance, had his eyes half-closed, looking as if he was two seconds away from slipping into a coma—not because he was exhausted, but because reality itself bored him.
"Are you two hungry?" you asked sweetly.
Nothing.
No reaction.
Not even a blink.
Chishiya didn't look at you, didn't acknowledge the question, didn't do anything besides continue breathing. Niragi, on the other hand, did react—just in the most Niragi way possible.
He scoffed. Loudly. Dramatically. As if you had just asked him whether he wanted to start a gratitude journal.
"You think we trust you enough to eat something you made?" he sneered.
You blinked. "Yes."
Niragi opened his mouth. Closed it. Squinted at you. "You say that like it's obvious."
"It is obvious." You stood up, stretching slightly. "You need to eat to recover. So, I'm making you food."
Still, no reaction. Neither of them moved. Neither of them agreed or refused.
Fine. That was fine. You weren't expecting a "thank you" or a grand speech of appreciation. You could tell exactly what they were doing—creating distance, keeping their guard up, making sure they didn't owe you anything.
You understood. Really, you did.
But that wasn't going to stop you. So, without another word, you walked toward the connected kitchen.
Immediately, Niragi's voice followed you. "Wait, you're actually cooking?"
"Yes."
"What the fuck?"
You didn't respond, already moving to the stove. The pot on the burner was already filled—leftover soup you had started earlier, still warm. You reached for a spoon, stirring gently, the scent filling the air instantly.
Chishiya didn't move or react, but Niragi? His head tilted the tiniest bit, like he was trying not to be obvious about sniffing the air.
You had to suppress a giggle.
They weren't going to ask for food. Oh, no. That would be too easy. They were too stubborn for that. Which was why you weren't going to wait for permission.
You kept stirring, the rich aroma of the soup spreading. It had been a while since you'd made something decent—soup was simple, easy, comforting. You weren't sure what these two had been eating before you found them half-dead, but judging by how they looked under all the blood and bruises, it wasn't much.
From the couch, Niragi groaned loudly, flopping dramatically onto his side. "This is so fucking weird."
"What is?" you asked, not turning around.
"This." He waved a hand vaguely in the air. "You. Cooking. This whole 'let's take care of the random half-dead guys I found' bullshit."
You hummed. "Would you rather I had left you there?"
"Yes!"
A beat of silence.
Then Chishiya: "No, he wouldn't have."
Niragi snapped his head toward him. "Shut the fuck up."
Chishiya didn't even look at him. "You're still here, aren't you?”
"I can leave anytime I want." Niragi shot back.
Chishiya finally turned his head slightly, expression unreadable. "Then why haven't you?"
Niragi froze.
You hid a smile, still focused on the soup. That was interesting.
Chishiya wasn't just observant—he was ruthless about it. He had no problem pointing things out that other people would avoid saying out loud.
You liked that.
Meanwhile, Niragi—having zero rebuttal—just let out another frustrated groan and dropped back against the couch. "God, I hate you."
"Likewise."
They both hated each other. And yet... neither of them had moved.
You smiled to yourself.
You gave the soup another gentle stir before ladling it into bowls. The warmth of it curled through your fingers, and as you turned around, you caught them.
Both of them.
Niragi and Chishiya.
Trying so hard to look uninterested.
They didn't move. Didn't react. But their eyes flickered—just barely—to the steaming bowls in your hands.
You knew they were hungry. Obviously. Their bodies were recovering, their wounds were fresh, and it had probably been days since they'd eaten properly.
But they weren't going to say anything. Because admitting that they needed something? Admitting that they relied on someone else?
That was too much.
You smiled sweetly. And completely ignored their bullshit. You walked up to the small coffee table in front of them, placing the bowls down with a gentle clink.
"Eat." you said simply.
Silence.
Chishiya stared at the soup, then at you, his expression blank but his mind obviously racing.
Niragi? He just glared.
"I never said I wanted it." he muttered.
You just smiled. "I know."
More silence.
The soup smelled amazing. You could tell, because Niragi kept sniffing the air without realizing he was doing it. Then he scoffed, rolling his eyes. "You think I'm just gonna eat it because you put it in front of me?"
"Yes."
His eye twitched. "You're so fucking weird."
"I've been called worse."
Then, with a dramatic, suffering sigh, Niragi grabbed the bowl.
Victory.
Chishiya? He didn't reach for his immediately. Instead, he just... watched.
Watched you.
Watched Niragi.
Watched everything.
And then, after a long, slow moment, he finally—casually, effortlessly—picked up the bowl and took a small sip. He didn't react. But you noticed the way his fingers curled slightly more securely around the ceramic.
He liked it.
He just wasn't going to say it.
That was fine.
You weren't expecting thanks. You weren't expecting gratitude.
All you wanted was for them to eat.
And now? They were.
You smiled to yourself and returned to the kitchen, humming softly as you cleaned up. Behind you, on the couch, Niragi grumbled under his breath, still half-muttering insults at Chishiya between bites.
Chishiya didn't respond. He was too busy finishing his soup.
By the time you were done cleaning up the kitchen, the two of them had nearly finished their soup.
Which, really, was hilarious considering how Niragi had dramatically refused the idea of eating anything made by you just minutes ago. And yet, there he was, scowling at the spoon in his hand
Chishiya, on the other hand, had barely made a sound as he ate. No complaints, no praise, just silent, efficient consumption like he was running off of pure logic.
Food = survival. No need to make a fuss about it.
You approached them again with your usual warm smile, hands clasped together.
"So," you chirped. "since you're both fed and alive, this place has plenty of bedrooms. You don't have to keep sitting on the couch all night."
Chishiya barely reacted.
Niragi, however, snorted. "Oh, do we not?"
"You don't." you confirmed sweetly. "I can show you some, or you can just go find one yourself if you're that fed up with me."
Chishiya's lips twitched at that. Just the faintest smirk. He liked the way you phrased that—the fact that you knew exactly how they were acting and didn't even take offense to it.
Niragi just clicked his tongue, leaning back on the couch. "Tch. Like hell I trust any of the bedrooms in this creepy rich-ass place."
You tilted your head, amused. "You trust the couch more?"
"I trust myself more.”
"You're literally injured."
"I'd rather sleep in a ditch than get comfortable here."
You shrugged. "Okay, the door is open too."
Niragi stared at you. "Are you actually kicking me out?"
"No." you giggled, "I'm just giving you options! You seem like the kind of guy who doesn't like being told what to do."
Niragi made a face. "Oh, fuck off."
Chishiya finally stretched his legs slightly, glancingat you. "How many rooms?"
"Enough."
Chishiya's eyes flicked up to the ceiling, as if calculating the space. His mind was always working—always analyzing. You could practically see the gears turning.
"Five." he guessed.
You beamed. "Close. Six."
"Hm."
Chishiya's gaze flicked toward the hallway leading to the bedrooms. You knew exactly what he was thinking.
A house this big? With this many rooms? Still fully intact?
It wasn't just luck. There was a reason you had secured a place like this. Chishiya was too smart to ignore that.
Niragi groaned. "Whatever. I call the biggest room."
You smiled, hands on your hips. "You'll have to find it first."
Niragi's eyes narrowed. "...Is that a challenge?"
Chishiya sighed, rubbing his temple. "You don't even have the energy to stand."
"Shut up." Niragi grumbled, but didn't actually get up.
You laughed softly. "The rooms are all clean, and they even have actual beds. Fresh blankets, too."
Niragi rolled his eyes. "Oh, you're really selling this, huh?"
You smiled, unbothered. "I'm just being nice."
"Too nice." Niragi crossed his arms. "What's your deal?"
Your smile softened slightly, but you didn't answer right away.
Instead, you tilted your head and asked, "Do you think people only do things when they want something in return?"
Niragi hesitated. Which, really, said everything.
You just smiled. "You should go rest. Both of you. Your bodies need it."
Chishiya exhaled through his nose, standing up first. "I'll find one myself."
You nodded. "Go ahead."
He didn't move immediately. He just stood there for a moment, looking at you—not suspiciously, not threateningly, just... observing. Then, finally, he turned and disappeared down the hall.
Niragi groaned again, shifting to lay down on the couch. "I'll move later." he muttered.
You just smiled. "Okay."
And with that, you walked away, leaving them to their own devices. Because at the end of the day? You weren't forcing them to do anything.
You were just offering something they weren't used to.
A choice.
A home.
~
You knew exactly which rooms they had chosen.
It was easy.
You'd left all the doors open on purpose. So when two of them inevitably ended up closed—well. That told you everything you needed to know.
One belonged to Niragi.
One belonged to Chishiya.
And since you weren't in the mood for an argument right now, you decided to check on Chishiya first.
So, with a soft knock, you pushed the door open.
Chishiya was there, as expected, sitting on the edge of the bed. His posture was relaxed, but not lazy. A picture of calm, but never vulnerable.
His eyes flicked to you immediately when you entered. Always alert. Always watching.
You smiled. "Hey."
He didn't say anything—just gave you a slow, expectant look, like he was already calculating the reason for your visit.
You stepped further in, crossing your arms lightly. "I wanted to let you know that the shower works."
Chishiya raised a brow. He didn't look surprised, per se—just mildly intrigued, like he hadn't expected you to bring it up.
You continued, ever sweet, ever patient. "I set up a system with rainwater, and I got a boiler working with solar energy. You can take a hot shower if you want."
A pause.
Then, finally, he spoke. "You built that yourself?"
You grinned. "Impressed?"
Chishiya's lips curled just slightly. "Not quite."
You rolled your eyes playfully. "Right. Because nothing impresses you."
His smirk widened a fraction. He wasn't denying it.
You sighed dramatically, shifting your weight onto one foot. "Anyway, just be careful. The system's pretty stable, but I still don't trust it completely. So don't do anything stupid and end up flooding the place."
Chishiya tilted his head, as if amused by the idea. "I'll try to contain myself."
"Please do." you said, voice sickly sweet. Then, without missing a beat, you added, "Oh, and—"
You smiled. Soft. Kind.
Too kind.
Fake kind.
"—don't even try anything. My door's closed."
Chishiya blinked.
Because you weren't just sweet.
You weren't just kind.
You were smart.
You knew exactly the kind of person he was.
And you planned accordingly.
Chishiya exhaled through his nose, the closest thing to a chuckle you'd heard from him yet. He leaned back slightly, resting his arms against the bed, studying you.
"You think I'd try something?" he mused, tone light, teasing.
"I think you're smarter than that." you replied easily.
A beat.
Then Chishiya's lips curled into a slow, knowing smile. "Interesting."
You simply gave him one last sweet, angelic smile before turning toward the door. "Goodnight, Chishiya."
And with that, you left.
The door clicked shut behind you, and as you walked down the hall, you knew—knew without even needing to see—that Chishiya was still smiling to himself.
You were a smart girl.
And he liked that.
When you arrived there, you took a deep breath before knocking on the other door that was closed.
You knocked twice. A beat of silence, then—
A loud, dramatic groan from the other side.
"What now?"
You rolled your eyes and pushed the door open.
And there he was—Niragi, in all his irritating glory, sprawled across the bed. One arm behind his head, shirt half-ridden up, legs spread out just enough to be annoying.
He squinted at you lazily. "Oh, it's you."
"Of course it's me."
He groaned again, rolling onto his side in the most dramatic way possible. "What do you want? I'm tryna sleep here."
You crossed your arms. "I came to tell you the shower works."
That got his attention.
Niragi blinked. "Wait. What?"
"I have rainwater stored, and I managed to get a boiler running with solar energy." You tilted your head. "You can take a shower. A hot one."
Niragi stared at you like you had just told him the sky was made of gold. Then, suddenly, he sat up—grinning, wild and sharp, like a fucking hyena.
"Oh, shit." he snickered, running a hand through his now let out hair. "You mean I don't have to smell like blood anymore?"
You sighed. "I mean, it's up to you."
He stretched his arms, cracking his neck. "Damn, maybe you really are an angel. Here I thought you just liked keeping dirty, injured men in your house for fun."
You gave him an unimpressed look. "Yes, Niragi. That's exactly what I do in my free time."
He grinned. "If you wanted me in your bed, babe, you could've just said so."
You sighed again, rubbing your temple. "That is not what I said."
He leaned forward, propping his elbows on his knees. "I mean, I get it. Who wouldn't wanna sleep next to me? I'm warm, I smell good—"
"You literally just said you smell like blood."
Niragi ignored that. "—and I'd keep you safe all night."
You raised a brow. "You can't even stand up properly."
He grinned wider. "That just means I'd have to let you do all the work."
You leaned against the doorframe, tilting your head slightly, eyes glittering with something playful. "That's so cute. You think you'd survive me?"
His grin froze.
Just for a second.
Then, he laughed. Loud. Unfiltered. Amused as hell. He licked his teeth, watching you with way too much interest. "You like playing hard to get, huh?"
You shrugged. "You like losing?"
That hit.
That hit hard.
Because for the first time, Niragi actually shut up. Just for a second. Just enough for you to know that you had won.
"...Fuck." he muttered, almost to himself. "You're fun."
"I know." you said sweetly. "Now go take a shower before I change my mind."
You turned to leave—but of course, Niragi couldn't let you go without one last word.
"Hey, babe?"
You paused in the doorway, looking back.
He smirked. "Your door open, or closed?"
You grinned.
"Locked."
And with that, you walked away—leaving Niragi sitting there, grinning like an idiot.
~
You knew something was wrong the second you stepped into the hallway the next morning.
The air felt off.
It wasn’t a sound—because they weren’t making any. It wasn’t even an instinct, though you had plenty of that.
It was just that deep, unshakable feeling you got when you walked into a room and realized you were one second away from witnessing homicide.
And that’s exactly what was happening.
You turned the corner into the kitchen and—yep. There they were.
Chishiya and Niragi.
Standing there, dead silent, staring each other down like two wolves deciding whether they wanted to rip each other’s throats out before breakfast.
Niragi moved first.
Not towards you. Towards Chishiya.
One sharp, sudden step—his whole body tensed like he was about to fucking lunge, like he was about to do something stupid.
And Chishiya? Didn’t move an inch. Didn’t flinch. Didn’t react. Just stood there, perfectly still, perfectly calm, eyes half-lidded like he was already five steps ahead of this entire situation.
Which, knowing Chishiya? He was.
Oh, for fuck’s sake.
You cleared your throat. Loudly.
Both of them turned to look at you.
You raised an eyebrow. “Are we committing murder before or after breakfast?”
Niragi snorted. “That depends. You making anything good?”
You sighed, stepping into the kitchen like you weren’t walking into a fucking crime scene. “Depends.” you said, moving past them to grab some supplies. “Are you two gonna be civil, or am I cooking while dodging bullets?”
“Can’t make promises.” Niragi muttered, side-eyeing Chishiya.
Chishiya, for his part, said nothing. Just shifted slightly, tilting his head, gaze dissecting.
Watching Niragi. Watching you.
You exhaled through your nose. Of course.
They weren’t going to make this easy. That was fine. You didn’t expect them to.
Instead of scolding them, instead of trying to force anything, you did what you did best.
You read the room.
Because here’s the thing—people like Niragi? They didn’t start fights for no reason. Not really. He didn’t wake up thinking, hm, who should I try to kill today?
No—he woke up looking for control.
And Chishiya? Chishiya didn’t wake up looking for a fight. But he sure as hell wasn’t backing down from one, either.
So this wasn’t just aggression.
This was posturing. This was two men who hated each other testing the limits of the space they now shared.
Which meant there was only one thing you needed to do. You needed to give them something else to focus on.
So you got to work. And most importantly? You talked.
Not to them, really. Just enough to keep them engaged without forcing them to cooperate.
“So,” you hummed, cracking an egg into the pan. “how’d you two even end up in that mess I found you in?”
Silence.
Niragi scoffed. “That mess?” He snorted. “Try a fucking bloodbath.”
You hummed. “Right, yeah, I noticed that part.”
Chishiya finally spoke. “Tch. Not surprising.”
Niragi rolled his eyes. “Oh, here we go—”
“I’m just saying,” Chishiya mused. “it’s not like you’re particularly good at self-preservation.”
“Fuck off, rat.”
You sighed. “Okay, so still not cooperative.”
Niragi gave you a shit-eating grin. “Aww, babe, don’t take it personally.”
You shot him a look. “I don’t. I just think it’s hilarious that you two can’t even answer a simple question without fighting.”
Chishiya sighed, rubbing his temple. “We’re not fighting.”
Niragi grinned. “Yeah, baby, this is just how we talk.”
“Oh, so this is bonding, then?” you deadpanned.
Niragi shrugged. “Something like that.”
You just shook your head, flipping the eggs.
It didn’t matter. They were calming down. They were still distant, still purposefully difficult, but that was fine.
You weren’t trying to fix them.
You were just making breakfast.
And in a world that had taken so much from them, that was probably the best thing you could do.
You let the conversation die out for a bit, focusing on not burning the eggs while the two grown, violent men in your kitchen continued their silent pissing contest.
They weren’t trying to kill each other anymore, but you could feel the tension, the way Niragi kept throwing sideways glances at Chishiya, and the way Chishiya pointedly ignored him like he wasn’t even worth the energy.
God, you were babysitting.
And yet.
And yet.
You liked them.
Not in a wow, what great, emotionally well-adjusted people kind of way.
More like a wow, these are the worst fucking people I’ve ever met and yet I kind of want to keep them alive kind of way.
Which was dangerous. So dangerous.
But you never did have much self-preservation.
So you tried again.
You flipped the eggs onto a plate, moving to grab some bread, and—casually, like you weren’t expecting much—asked: “So. You still didn’t answer my question.”
Chishiya hummed, eyes lidded, uninterested.
Niragi, on the other hand, sighed so loudly it was like you had just asked him to recite the entire history of the universe.
“What fucking question?” he muttered.
You raised an eyebrow. “How you two ended up bleeding out in an alley.”
Silence.
Not the murderous kind of silence, at least.
Just hesitation.
Which meant you had them.
You pressed. Gently.
“I mean, was it a fight? Did you get jumped? Were you two just being dumbasses?”
Niragi scoffed. “The last one.”
Chishiya sighed. “Obviously.”
“Oh, fuck off.”
You fought back a grin. “Okay, so what happened?”
Niragi clicked his tongue, leaning against the counter. “Tch. Got caught up in some shit.”
You hummed. “What kind of shit?”
Niragi grinned, sharp, mean. “The fun kind.”
Chishiya sighed. “The kind that almost got him killed.”
“The fun kind.” Niragi repeated.
You blinked. “You have a very different definition of fun than I do.”
He laughed. “What, you don’t like a little bloodshed?”
“I don’t like dying.” you said simply.
Chishiya gave you a slow, approving look. “Smart girl.”
Niragi rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah. Guess we just ran into the wrong people at the wrong time. Shit happens.”
You tilted your head, thoughtful. “Shit does happen.” You turned, handing them plates of food. “How many days do you have?”
This was a test.
A subtle one.
If they lied, you’d know. If they refused to answer, you’d know.
Because you were a therapist.
You knew people
And right now, you knew that Niragi was stalling. Clicking his tongue, leaning back, making a big show of thinking about it.
“Hmmm.” he hummed, exaggerated. “Why do you wanna know, angel? Wanna trade?”
You smiled, too sweet. “No, but I would like to know if you’re about to drop dead in my house.”
Niragi laughed. Loud, sharp, amused as hell.
Chishiya, on the other hand, watched you. Studied you. Then, finally, he spoke “Seven.”
Your eyes flicked to him.
And there it was.
Honesty. Cold, simple, factual honesty.
Chishiya had seven days.
You looked at Niragi expectantly.
He groaned, rolling his eyes. “Ugh, fine. Five.”
You clicked your tongue. “You should be more careful.”
Niragi snorted. “What, you worried about me, sweetheart?”
You shrugged, turning back to your own food. “I just don’t wanna clean up a corpse in my living room.”
Chishiya huffed out a quiet laugh. Niragi grinned.
You let the conversation settle after that.
They weren’t cooperative. Not really.
They didn’t trust you. Not completely.
But they answered you.
And that was enough.
For now.
Because you had a plan.
Because right now, in your apartment, you had two wild animals sitting at your table.
One too smart for his own good.
The other too reckless for anyone’s good.
And you were about to leave both of them unsupervised. On purpose. Because you knew exactly what you were doing.
You grabbed your bag, casually tossing a few supplies inside—knife, flashlight, extra cloth, some food. Nothing crazy. It wasn’t going to be a long trip. At least, it shouldn’t be.
Niragi was watching you.
Not subtly.
At first, he just glanced. Quick, uninterested, shoving food into his mouth like a fucking caveman.
But when you grabbed your coat?
When you slung your bag over your shoulder?
That’s when he actually looked.
He raised an eyebrow. “Uh… babe?”
You hummed, fixing the strap. “What?”
“Why the fuck are you getting ready like you’re about to head out?”
You blinked at him. “Because I am?”
Silence.
“The fuck do you mean you are?”
Across from him, Chishiya didn’t react much. He just tilted his head slightly, observing. Like he was just as curious, but not as dumb as Niragi, so he wasn’t about to react like a fucking child.
Niragi, however, had no such restraint.
He squinted at you. “Where the fuck do you think you’re going?”
You sighed. “Out.”
“Out where?”
“To find some supplies.”
He scoffed. “Tch. You’re joking.”
“I’m not.”
“You’re seriously leaving me and—” He gestured vaguely to Chishiya. “this asshole alone in your house?”
Chishiya blinked slowly. “You’re a child.”
“And you’re a rat.” Niragi turned back to you. “Seriously, you’re leaving?”
“Yes, Niragi.” You threw some light, pretty pink clothing around your shoulders. “I need to go out. I need supplies. I need—” You waved vaguely at the door. “shit.”
He scoffed again. “Tch. What kind of shit?”
You shrugged. “Just things. Food. Bandages. Stuff to keep you two from dying.”
Chishiya hummed. “How responsible.”
“Right?” you quipped. “I should get an award.”
Niragi wasn’t laughing. He wasn’t mad, but he wasn’t happy either. Because despite the smug, cocky, overconfident asshole persona—there was something else.
Not concern, no. That wasn’t his style.
More like… uncertainty.
Like he didn’t like the idea of you going out there alone. Not because he cared. No, no, that’s ridiculous.
(At least, he’d tell himself that.)
But because in his fucked-up, messy, unhinged brain—
He didn’t trust the world.
And the idea of you walking out there, all soft and sweet and not a complete fucking psycho like him, probably didn’t sit right with him.
Which is why he leaned back in his chair, sucking his teeth.
“Fine.” he muttered. “Then I’m coming with you.”
You blinked.
Then laughed.
Actually laughed.
“The fuck is so funny?” he snapped.
You shook your head, still grinning. “You can barely fucking walk, Niragi.”
He bristled. “The fuck I can’t.”
You tilted your head. “Oh, yeah? Stand up.”
His eyes narrowed.
Chishiya actually smirked, sipping his tea. “This will be fun.”
Niragi ignored him. Instead, he grumbled, planted his hands on the table, and pushed himself up—only to sway immediately.
Yeah. That’s what you thought.
You crossed your arms, raising an eyebrow. “Go on.”
He glared. “I just need a second.”
“Uh-huh.”
Chishiya chuckled.
“You two are both fucking awful.” Niragi muttered, lowering himself back into the chair.
You smiled. Sweet. Almost mocking. “But I’m right.”
He rolled his eyes, but didn’t argue.
You exhaled, adjusting your bag. “I won’t be long.”
Niragi muttered something under his breath, and you almost asked what—but you let it go.
Instead, you turned to Chishiya. He was still watching. Quiet. Unreadable. Like he was picking you apart in his head.
You stared back. After a moment, you spoke.
“You gonna be okay here?”
He blinked once. “I should be asking you that.”
You smirked. “You don’t have to.”
His eyes glittered.
Just a little.
He didn’t say anything else.
You turned back to Niragi. “Try not to kill each other before I get back.”
“No promises.” Niragi muttered.
You sighed. Yeah, you figured.
Then, without another word, you grabbed your coat, pushed open the door, and stepped out, leaving them alone.
And you knew exactly what you were doing.
~
You had fully prepared yourself for the worst when you returned.
Maybe bloodstains on your fancy-ass couch. Maybe the kitchen completely destroyed. Maybe—just maybe—one of them lying dead in the hallway while the other stood over him. But, to your genuine surprise, the house was still standing.
And even more surprising?
So were both of them.
Chishiya was sitting at the kitchen counter, flipping through a book he absolutely did not own before today.
And Niragi—who you fully expected to have done something violent or reckless in your absence—was sprawled out on the couch, one arm hanging over the side, his whole body screaming bored as hell but refusing to admit he waited for you to come back.
They were separated, obviously.
Like two kids on a road trip who couldn’t sit next to each other without starting a war.
But they were here.
Waiting.
Which meant they had not murdered each other.
Wow. Okay. Good.
You stepped inside, kicking the door shut behind you. “Huh. You didn’t destroy the place.”
Chishiya didn’t look up from his book. “Disappointed?”
You snorted. “Surprised.”
Niragi let out a loud, exaggerated sigh.
“Tch. Not my fault.” he muttered. “There was nothing to fucking do.”
You shrugged, setting your bag down on the table. “Well, good news.”
You started unpacking, pulling out a few cans of food, some extra bandages, a couple of bottles of water and a small, cute plushie. You placed it right on the coffee table, right between the two of them.
Silence.
Niragi squinted at it. “What the fuck is that?”
You blinked at him, deadpan. “A bear.”
He continued staring. Like he couldn’t process the fact that, after scavenging for supplies in an almost post-apocalyptic nightmare world, you had come back with a tiny stuffed bear.
Chishiya just hummed. “Interesting choice.”
You grinned. “I thought it was cute.”
Niragi made a face. “What, you gonna start collecting those now?”
“Maybe.” you mused, organizing the supplies. “Maybe I’ll decorate the place.”
Chishiya smirked. “Would be an improvement.”
Niragi snorted.
You gasped. “Excuse me?”
Chishiya didn’t even look up. “I’m just saying, the place is a little sterile.”
“Sterile?”
“You know. Too clean. Too perfect.”
Niragi stretched, cracking his neck. “Yeah, like a rich kid’s hideout.”
You huffed. “I like my place nice.”
Chishiya turned a page. “Mm. Suspicious.”
You rolled your eyes, finally plopping down onto the chair across from Niragi.
“Anyway.” you sighed. “I got supplies. Food. Water. Bandages.”
Niragi snatched a bottle off the table. “Tch. Took you long enough.”
You snorted. “Oh, I’m sorry, did you have somewhere to be?”
He smirked, taking a sip. “Nah. Just missed you, babe.”
You smiled. “Aww, how sweet.”
Niragi’s eyes sparkled with mischief. “You could make it up to me, you know.”
“Oh? And how would I do that?”
He leaned forward, voice dropping. Suggestive. “Ever heard of a stress reliever?”
Chishiya closed his book. Loudly.
You placed your elbow on the table, chin in your palm, and matched Niragi’s energy effortlessly.
“Hm.” you mused, tilting your head. “I have. You should try one.”
Chishiya snorted.
Niragi blinked. Then laughed. Loud. Sharp. Fucking amused.
You leaned back, stretching your arms. “Anyway. You two can fight over the bedrooms again or sleep out here, I don’t care.”
Niragi scoffed. “Tch. Like I’d share a room with this asshole.”
Chishiya smirked. “I wouldn’t subject you to my presence.”
“Oh, fuck off.”
You liked them.
“So, Chishiya.” Niragi drawled, stretching his legs out. “Tell me something.”
Chishiya did not look up. Did not react. Which only fueled Niragi’s need to annoy him.
“If you’re such a genius,” Niragi continued. “how the fuck did you end up half-dead in a ditch, huh?”
Chishiya finally blinked. Slowly. Then sighed.
“Same way you did.” he murmured, flipping through the book again. “By not giving a shit.”
Niragi grinned.
“Oh, no, see, I wasn’t the one who thought I was better than everyone.” he said mockingly. “I wasn’t the one who thought I was too smart to get my ass kicked.”
Chishiya hummed. “No, you were just too dumb to avoid it.”
Niragi laughed. Sharp, amused, but not fucking friendly.
“Cute.” he smirked. “For someone who thinks he’s so fucking smart, you really do make a lot of mistakes.”
Chishiya finally looked up. “And for someone who acts like he’s the biggest in the world you sure ended up in the same situation as me.”
Niragi’s grin twitched.
Your head hit the back of the chair.
Here we go.
Because of course Niragi wasn’t going to let that go. “You wanna repeat that, rat?”
Chishiya tilted his head. “Oh? Are your ears failing, too?”
Niragi sat up.
Even injured, even weak, even not at full strength, he still looked like he was one second away from throwing hands.
“You little—”
“No.”
Your voice cut through the air like a knife.
Both of them froze.
Not because you were loud. Not because you yelled.
But because you didn’t.
You were calm.
Too calm.
And that? That was scarier.
“If you two want to keep fighting,” you said, voice light, but firm. “then you can take your asses out of here.”
Silence.
You crossed your arms.
“You can either calm the fuck down,” you continued, sweet, but threatening. “or you can leave. I don’t care which.”
You watched them.
And you knew.
This was the moment.
If they argued—if they scoffed, if they fought back—then that was it.
They were leaving.
They’d be gone.
But if they stayed quiet—if they didn’t say a word—that was their answer.
That was them choosing to stay.
And for people like them? For people who never admitted they needed anyone, who never relied on anybody but themselves, this was big.
Chishiya sighed.
He looked back down at his book.
Didn’t say anything.
Didn’t argue.
Didn’t leave.
Niragi clicked his tongue, leaned back on the couch, and mumbled, “Tch. Whatever.”
Didn’t say anything else.
Didn’t leave.
They were staying.

OP characters reacting to you kissing them and running away (here's part 2) established relationship ish. Feel free to ask for other characters.
ALSO I've definitely seen another creator who did this idea with op characters but I can't remember who so if someone could tell me I would really love to credit them :(. I tried to make mine different but still it's the principal of it.
Slightly suggestive in some parts so mdni.
Luffy
Thinks its a new game like tag but with kisses and it ends up actually becoming one. You'll both wait for the other to become distracted and then you'll strike, planting a kiss and sprinting off around the ship or the island you're docked at. It's not hard to chase after each other because the trails of laughter are so easy to follow and it always ends up with one of you on the floor from a tackle or something similar.
Zoro
Gobsmacked. Genuinely his jaw drops especially if there's other people there and you get away so easily only because of how long it takes his brain to boot back online. Oh but he doesn't let it go. He waits until you're in a similar situation, either talking to someone or doing work and he sneaks up to pull you into a deep, intense kiss that leaves your knees weak. Like he fully puts the moves on you, hand on your lower back, other hand cradling your jaw, hes literally licking into your mouth and then he just disappears for the rest of the day. Asshole.
Sanji
You are not running away from this man. Not in a scary way but he can't do just one short kiss, as soon as you're leaning in his hands settle firm on your hips and that grip is not something you can wiggle out of. You can try to run away but he just laughs at you and pulls you closer to him, ofc he would let go if you actually wanted him to but he knows what you're trying to pull. Says something like "Oh? Trying to run darlin? How sweet." swoon- Just don't even bother, he will always try to win if your affection is involved.
Nami
Honestly thinks nothing of it. A lot of your affection is sweet but quick because yk pirate life. But if you look disappointed from her lack of reaction then she catches on quickly and starts playing along. So sweet even though she can be scary. Oh but don't try to run if she's initiating, like Sanji you aren't going to get out of her grip. If she wants to shower you with affection, she is going to thank you very much. If you do manage to slip away she's surprisingly quick and surprisingly stealthy. Like you'll think you got away and you walk into a room and she drops down from the ceiling like fucking batman.
(maybe not that dramatic but shes good)
Robin
She lets you run away but only because she knows she could summon a mouth to kiss you at any time and in any place so she's content knowing she always wins. Also thinks it's really cute when you try to rile her up like this, she just finds it so endearing and usually ends up playing into it anyways- "My, my, aren't you getting so bold my love". Sometimes will purposefully trip you up while you're doing these antics so you can't get away or so your plan is ruined, absolutely pretends she has no idea what you're talking about.
Usopp
Highly likely he was doing something when it happened. Highly likely he dropped something onto his foot as a result. Yowls like an injured cat and then when his brain catches up it's like steam comes out of his ears. Stands there with his mouth open and pointing at you like you betrayed his entire family. Very funny and very cute. Also a possibility of him smacking you out of fearful instinct in which case he'd probably cry his eyes out and beg for forgiveness. Nami makes it worse by punching him in the face for hitting you. A mess all around if you get him at the wrong time so just be careful.
Ace
Immediately sprinting after you, it's actually a bit scary. But like hey he's not letting you get away with just one measly little peck on the cheek. Absolutely nobody on the crew helps you unless it would be funny, i.e. someone tripping Ace up so he faceplants. If it's near the beginning of your relationship then you likely go back out of concern which he takes as a chance to catch you, but if it's later then you already know this man's antics and you know he wouldn't be injured just from tripping so you use it as an opportunity to get away💪. You still have to kiss it better later though when hes whining to you about how cruel you are for leaving him in the dust(he would do the same).
Izou
Don't bother. As soon as you turn he snatches you by the back of your collar and pulls you onto his lap, proceeds to resume his conversation like nothing is wrong but his arms are firm around your waist and his cheeks and ears are a particularly pretty shade of red. Once his conversation is over and the other person has left, he turns his attention to you with a very pointed look. He's not actually irritated but if he enjoys watching you squirm that's his business. "If you wanted a kiss you should've just asked my love" and then he's practically devouring your mouth. Doesn't care about the other people in the vicinity. Doesn't care that he's smudging his lipstick. Just wants to fluster you more than you flustered him.
Marco
Do you even want to run away from this man lets be real- anyways.
If he's doing work then he just laughs and lets you get away with it, tallys it in his head for later, but if he's free and hes in a good mood then he absolutely plays into it. Will chase after you. Will cheat by using his powers. Its a bit scary but also very attractive, somehow ends with him pinning you in some way (☺️), looks very smug when he wins. Like you'll end up flat on your back, legs trapped under his and his hands restraining yours and he's just grinning- "Oh what a surprise. You were so easy to catch-yoi" Yeah yeah shut up. Absolutely asks what his reward is just to see your shocked face (absolutely asks again later when you two are alone).
Sabo
VILLAIN!!!!!! Sorry only way i can describe how devious and obsessed this man would be. Like Izou he tries to snatch you immediately but you planned for this so you manage to spring out of his grip in time. You falter a bit at his reaction then because he just blinks at you for a while. You start to feel a bit nervous and when he finally grins at you, you definitely feel nervous. "Playing like that are we honey? How about I give you a headstart then?" Evil. You know he's going to catch you. He knows he's going to catch you. He's just giving you false hope but yk hope is hope so you take the chance.
You don't get far. It's not even fair how quickly he catches up to you and gets you underneath him, it takes him barely any effort, not even a strand of hair is out of place. Spends the next 10 minutes kissing you on the floor of the hallway until Koala comes back and promptly drags him back into his office.

This came to me in a dream but imagine.
Max Verstappen x MotoGP!male!reader. They're very similar, both started very young, they both have four championships and they're both Dutch. But Max is well, Max and reader is an absolute sweetheart and cinnamon roll.
Thank you!
just read all abt motogp and didn't realize how fucking cool it was until now so ty for that! gonna start watching it this season!

max verstappen x motogp!male!reader
synopsis: two racers, both alike in dignity, in fair motorsports, where we lay our scene- you and max are very similar in a lot of ways yet so different that you guys just make it work
author's note: motogp, i was not familiar with your game. but srsly i have to start watching bc just reading and researching on it had me so pumped up at 11:45 last night bc i forgot to rest up 😅 worth it bc AHAHAHAJDLLWWN <- that's how im feeling abt motogp. hope you like it!

you guys are so similar before you even knew each other
you both started around the same time, being the youngests to ever race in your respective sports
fans were quick to point out the parallels between the two of you
you won a good set of races (even if it's hard to do) and max was dominating the f1 world
plus you guys were both dutch
so everyone's all like "what the hell do they feed those motosports kids in the netherlands?"
you guys meet in like some random gp, maybe yours maybe his but either way a random gp
im thinking cota lowkey before daniel was booted (rip king)
so like daniel sets you guys up practically
turns out you got along amazingly, followed each other on instagram and like added each other on whatsapp and stuff
like you guys really hit off
you talk and get to know each/build a stable friendship for like a year and half before you ask him out
he says yes of course, claiming he was just about to do it and you stole his spotlight
you don't care because you are just happy to have date with someone you've come to care a lot about
you go on this date, probably to the beach because you still aren't sure what he wants to eat and when
you guys start being official shortly after
skip forward and you have won your second championship and max as one so far so you guys are out celebrating and stuff
fans spot you, ask for some pictures and notice how drastically different your personalities are
like you seem all cheery and happy all the time while max only seems to enjoy himself when he's with you or other people he likes
but they also realize how perfect you guys are and how much you counter balance each other
like one gets too overwhelmed the other is taking them home and obviously vice versa
and you guys are so so supportive
like if your bike decides not to work and you have to quit mid-race, max is there to support whether actually at the circuit or over facetime
if max has a particularly bad race, you are supporting him in anyway you can to make sure he knows how talented and amazing he is
you guys don't fight a lot, but when you do you guys are both lowkey overdramatic and realize like ten minutes later how stupid the argument was and then make up/make out over it
anyways
anytime you guys can, you support each other
like if there just happens to be the races on the same day, you make sure to tell max before and after your race how amazing and proud of him you are and max makes sure everyone knows what an amazing boyfriend you are
also championship celebrations are insane
like drunk asf, waking up sire the next day
you guys are just happy you got to celebrate them together
even if max is a little overprotective
not as much as you though, because some guy looked at max the wrong way at a bar one time and you just about punched out his lights
look, you're sweet and all but you love max and don't want people to judge that
plus you are a max defender til the day you die
you tried getting max to ride your bike that you have a home, but he almost broke his arm and you almost got berated by horner
but horner's opinion doesn't matter to you because he's horner—pretty self explanatory i think
you guys will sometimes go karting together but max always wins (you jokingly accuse him of cheating to win but he just has a cheeky smile)
its always fun because you guys really just like to battle on track
though you are less aggressive both in your motogp driving and on the kart
max, well, you guys know how max's driving is
also i feel like you would drive him around, if that makes any sense
like he screams passenger princess to me and i don't really understand it but you know what, fuck it we ball

I don’t know if you’ve done this before but I would love some domestic fluff with Touya/Keigo/Tomura, like their morning routine living with the reader (including cute bed head ofc)
Giggling I don’t mind if I dooo this is my favorite type of contentt
Tomura

✦••······················••✦•······················•✦••······················••✦
Waking up next to Tomura was quite the experience. The leader of a group of infamous villains, one of the most feared men in all of Japan, and yet he was seemingly so fragile curled up in the bed next to you. It was surreal sometimes to think about it, only for those pretty red eyes to flutter open and make you forget your previous thoughts entirely as he yawned and kissed your cheek, muttering a quick “morning, sweetheart” as he sat up and stretched.
One thing about him that you could count on was that he was always out of bed before you. You didn’t get it- you’d think he’d be hard to wake up in the morning, but really he was always quick to rise, even after he’d spent most of the night gaming.
“I’m making breakfast. Want some?” He said groggily from the door, earning a nod from you as you sat up. Of course, he was a terrible cook and always just got cereal for the two of you anyways. You could hear him yawn again in the kitchen as he shuffled around getting bowls and such. He may be quick to get up, but he’s always perpetually sleepy. You walked in sleepily too, making the both of you some coffee. He glanced over at you as he put the milk away, a small smile crossing his lips as he shut the fridge and moved around behind you, placing a few chaste kisses on your shoulder. You smiled, turning around to kiss him back, your fingers carding through his messy hair. He kissed your lips for what felt like forever, pinning you to the counter till you hummed and pulled away.
“Get off and go eat before the cereal gets soggy” you said, glancing behind him. “Who cares, c’mere” he grumbled trying to pull you close again, but instead you kissed the tip of his nose and moved on past him. He pouted but complied once you gave him his cup of coffee, and the two of you spent the rest of your morning in each others peaceful company. Luckily, your cereal wasn’t too soggy, something that Tomura bragged about afterwards when he leaned in for more kisses after breakfast
(a/n - chat are y’all blushing at this as much as me rn)
✦••······················••✦•······················•✦••······················••✦
Keigo

✦••······················••✦•······················•✦••······················••✦
Keigo always snores. He might just be the loudest person you’ve ever slept next to. Luckily most nights he practically smothers you in feathers and muffles the noise, but in summary he’s a pretty loud sleeper.
But this man is as quiet as a mouse when he gets up.
You sat up with a yawn, getting up to turn off your alarm. You looked back to nudge Keigo awake, only to notice he wasn’t there, just a few stray feathers scattered across his side of the bed. You pouted slightly, walking out of the room to look around in the kitchen. He wasn’t there either. Surely he wasn’t already gone right?
“Hey sweets!”
You nearly jumped in surprise when you heard his cheery voice from behind you, spinning around to look at him. He laughed, putting his hands on your hips “you scared the crap out of me, Keigo!” You said, crossing your arms. “I know, I’m sorry-please don’t punch me this time” he pleaded with a smile, leaning in to kiss your cheek. He was already dressed, freshened up, and ready to go, and you hadn’t even realized he’d gotten out of bed till you looked over. But there was one thing about him in the mornings that always drove you crazy.
“You forgot to brush your hair again” you said, ruffling his messy hair. He chuckled, drumming his fingers on your sides “what’s the point? It’ll be messy anyways” he replied, giving you another kiss. You sighed, cupping his face in your hands as you kissed him back. “Do you have to leave early?” “I made you breakfast to heat up whenever you want it” “so that’s a yes?”
He sighed, moving his wing to playfully nudge your shoulder as he moved past you “you know I have to” he said quietly, pulling you along with him to the balcony door of your apartment. You merely hummed in response, giving him a hug and kiss before he opened the door, said a quick “I love you” and was gone. The downsides of dating the fastest man alive.
✦••······················••✦•······················•✦••······················••✦
Touya

✦••······················••✦•······················•✦••······················••✦
Touya was always so grumpy after the alarm clock went off. He could’ve been awake in bed for hours before then, but as soon as that familiar sound rang and he knew he had to get up, he’d always get up with a frown.
Today was no different, but you’d woken up earlier than usual, with thirty minutes till your alarm went off. You sat up wit a yawn, about to get up early, only for Touya to tug you back down. “No” he said bluntly, wrapping his arms around you. You blinked and rubbed your eyes, groaning as you looked at him “what do you mean?” You asked, watching his totally unamused expression shift to an even less amused one, if that was possible. “We still got time, just go back to sleep, you’re not leavin me here” he replied groggily, his arms locked around you. “Just get up with me then” you replied, only for him to groan in frustration. “No.”
You sighed, watching his perpetually frowny face as a smile grew on yours. “You’re so clingy” you whispered, brushing his hair from his face. His eyes softened, but his pout only grew, as if he was trying to hide that sliver of vulnerability. “Am not” he replied gruffly, “I just don’t like getting up.”
“How long have you been awake?” You asked, your thumb stroking his cheek. He looked at the clock, grumbling. “Like…three” he answered, making you raise your eyebrows. “So you just lay here doing nothing all night? And you expect me to do the same?” “Yes now shut up and close your eyes” he retorted, huffing until you did so. “Thank you” he said in an exasperated tone, grumbling to himself about how annoying you were being. You smiled and shook your head, keeping your eyes shut as he lay across from you, stroking your hair.
The truth is, he didn’t do nothing all night. He lay there watching you for a good portion of the time, stroking your hair or just thinking out loud while you slept. Saying things so sweet that you’d never expect to hear it from him if you were awake. He hated your alarm clock because it always meant his time doing so was over.
✦••······················••✦•······················•✦••······················••✦

Number 44 Cheap for Bucktommy
"You don't get to cheapen what we had."
Tommy says it evenly, a quiet rage burning in his eyes. He's not angry, Buck doesn't think. More hurt than anything else. And isn't that a punch to the gut?
"I'm not saying that, Tommy. Nothing about what we had was cheap. I'm only pointing out that we were obviously in two very different places when it came to how we felt about each other."
"Hm," Tommy hums noncommittally. "I think maybe you should just go, Buck."
Another gut punch. The only reason he's in Tommy's house is to return the box of things that's been sitting next to Buck's front door for more than two months.
"I feel like I'm saying everything wrong here," Buck tries. "I just want to talk to you, Tommy."
"I don't want to talk to you," he says, ending with a heavy sigh. "I can't do this with you."
"Listen, I know you didn't love me the way I love you, but that doesn't mean w-"
"What?"
Buck snaps his jaw shut, puzzled. He tips his head.
"What, 'what?'"
"You think I don't -"
Tommy has started pacing, running rough fingers through his hair as he gets more worked up. Finally he comes to a stop in front of Buck, nearly panting as he meets him head-on.
"I love you so much that it nearly killed me to walk away - almost literally."
"What?!"
"Let me finish," he says calmly. "I love you so much that I had to walk away. I've never felt this way about anyone, and that scares the absolute shit out of me." He laughs humorlessly. "I knew I'd just keep falling more in love with you, and then where would I be? When you finally realized you were settling for the first guy you dated and dumped me to go find someone better, I don't -" he exhales shakily, "- I don't know if I could've survived that. So I walked away while I could still scrape myself off the floor."
Buck is frozen where he stands. He's trying to process everything Tommy just said, and he allows himself the briefest moment to consider that Tommy's right.
Sighing and turning away, Tommy says, "I think I'm just not made to be loved long-term."
That gets Buck to finally unfreeze.
"You dumbass," he says. Tommy turns back to him as his eyebrows shoot up, but Buck ignores the look on his face. "You're just scared. And you're making us both pay for it." He grabs Tommy's arm to stop him from turning away again. "I'm not some kid who's new to love, Tommy. I'm 33. I've been in love before, and I know what it feels like to lose it. But that's not an excuse not to try. And I'm not saying it'll be easy every day, but I want to work at it with you. Especially with you," he emphasizes.
"Evan," Tommy sighs, "I'm not good at any of this. Loving you? That part's easy. But I don't - I don't know how to let myself be loved."
"Okay, well," Buck pulls him closer, and Tommy doesn't resist, a smile twitching at the corner of his mouth, "I think you can learn. You'll have to because I'm gonna love you anyway."
Send me a number and I’ll write a micro story using the word or phrase

Do I know you? Part 5
Jason Todd x reader
Synopsis: You meet Tim and Steph, Jason is not happy about it.
Notes: Some drama is finally here brought to you by Tim and Steph. This is the power of embarrassing a sibling.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Masterlist
The past week had been… odd. And that was putting it nicely. True to his word, the next evening was filled with Red Hood replacing your window locks with newer fancy ones attached to an “Out of date” alarm system (his words not yours). He showed you how to set it up and how to attach it to your phone, so if anyone got in while you were away you would know. It seemed a bit excessive to you, living on the sixth floor and all but he was adamant about it, so you let him. He told you if you wanted him to come in and share tea you would have to leave the window unlocked for a frame of time. If he didn’t show in that frame of time, you were to lock the window anyway.
“No later, understand?” He had ordered gruffly, and you had just shrugged. You’re pretty sure he rolled his eyes in response, but you couldn’t see them. In the days following he showed up every day even if it were just for a couple minutes. Sometimes you shared food, sometimes just tea. If he stayed for longer than a few minutes, you would sit amicably at the dining table or at the island. Sometimes in comfortable silence and sometimes conversing about your days, mostly you than him. You finally settled into a routine. After his visit, you would get ready for bed and repeat the day over.
Work at Jackie’s was booming. With the fall season in full swing, people came in requesting pumpkin this and pumpkin that, only to be disappointed to find out Jackies only had one pumpkin item and that was pumpkin bread. It was a blast. You kept up with the regulars and Darla would edge her way around you, collecting gossip. Over the next week and a half, she would sporadically bother you about if you had gotten Jason’s number or if you had fallen in with some other guy. She said she saw some of the signs of a guy but wasn’t too sure. When you asked what she meant she didn’t offer you any explanation.
It was a Thursday when you met Steph. When she came in, you mentally prepared yourself for another no-pumpkin showdown. You try not to judge a book by its cover, but her blonde hair and purple athleisure made it hard not to.
“Hi, Welcome to Jackie’s. What can I get for you?” your lips twitch into a customer service smile. She grins at you like this was the most excitement she had had all day.
“Hi, I’m Steph. How are you?” she asks politely.
“I’m good. What can I get for you?” she sags slightly at your shutdown of the conversation. Overly friendly new customers in Gotham were never good. They usually wanted something.
“Right,” she perks back up, “One hot chocolate and one black coffee.” She pauses for a moment while you put in the system. When you look back up, she asks “Do you know Jason?”
The sudden question slightly takes you aback and don’t answer, so she continues.
“He's about this tall,” she holds her hand in the air, “black hair, looks like he could punch a brick wall.” You nod slowly and she smiles, “Great, where does he usually sit?”
You point to the table nook he usually hides in, and she nods, “We’ll sit there. I heard that you bring the drinks out?” You nod again, still confused about this girl. No Pumpkin spice latte, and she knows Jason? Strange.
“How much do I owe you?” you finally snap out of your stupor. She pays, you thank her and tell her it will be out momentarily. She turns and greets a lean boy as he walks through the door. She tugs him to the booth quickly and they talk to each other in hushed tones, both glancing up at you occasionally. You try to ignore them as you stumble through making the two easiest items on the menu.
You glance up when the bell dings and a smile flits across your lips when you see Jason before it turns into a frown as he frowns. His eyes staring at his now occupied table. You pause in your task and come up to the register as he takes a few slow steps towards it.
“You okay?” you ask as you glance at the two at the table. They’re looking at Jason like they’ve won the lottery.
“Did they talk to you?” He ignores your own question.
“She did. Only to order though. Do I need to call the cops?”
Jason snorts at the question, “Yeah that’ll go well. She just ordered? She didn’t ask you anything?”
You give him a strange look. What is with people and odd questions today?
“She just asked where you sit. Sorry, I gave you away.”
He breaks his glare from them and meets your eye with a softness.
“It’s okay, Sweetheart. They would’ve figured it out even if you hadn’t given it to them.” Your heart flutters at the pet name. He had called you that the few times you had seen him since your walk home and it was starting to get to you.
“You want me to dump out their drinks and just make yours?” you ask as you try to force your focus away from the warmth on your cheeks.
“And ruin your hard work?” his eyes stare into your own and he finally breaks it when you hear giggles from your spies. You drop your chin down. “It’s okay,” he repeats, “I’ll sit with them.” He nods at you and heads for the table. The two sat there leaning together and whispering. You wonder who they are and how Jason knows them.
You get to work make the drinks, no longer stumbling, and with bounce your step. Darla stands next to you with a smug smile and makes some refills for customers.
“You could have asked for his number when he was alone but now there are people. Your poor self won't ever be able to do it.” She says teasingly.
“Thank you, Darla,” you say with an eye roll as you load the drinks on the tray. You take your time to meander to the table as Jason looks like he's berating the two that sit across from him. It doesn’t look like it's working as they both sit there with smug grins. You set the tray on the table and all eyes are on you. You keep your own eyes down as you move the drinks from the tray to the table. Your eyes try to catch Jason’s book for the day because you know you won't be asking like you normally do. You pull the tray from the table and rest it between your side and your arm.
“Anything else I can get you?” you glance at the two but meet Jason's eye. He looks flushed, possibly upset. Steph speaks up.
“No that’s okay. What was your name again?” she says like you had already told her. You break eye contact with Jason and look at her. She’s smiling and you can't find any malice in it, so you tell her. She nods like she already knows and points to the boy sitting next to her.
“This is Tim,” she points to Jason, “and obviously you already know Jason.” You hear a quiet thud from under the table and Tim flinches but smirks as he looks at Jason.
“You missed,” he turns to look up at you, “It's nice to meet you fin-” he cuts himself off and you wonder what the last word was.
You nod politely, “you too,” you say and look at Jason again for some explanation and a defeated look crosses his features as he shrugs.
“Brother” is all Jason gives, and you nod in semi-understanding. Based on the few mentions of family in passing conversations, you had always guessed he had a tense relationship with them.
“I didn’t know you had siblings.” You look back at the two. Tim and Jason could definitely be brothers. Aside from their stature and slight skin tone difference, everything else is similar. Black hair, blue eyes. Though you would argue that Jason’s were prettier because they were green sometimes. Not that it mattered. Your eyes meet Stephs again. Blonde hair, green eyes, bright smile. Very different looking than the two boys.
“Are you the only girl in the family?”
Steph makes a gagging sound, “I’m not family, Thank God!” Tim snorts at her over dramatics.
“I’m sorry.” Your face flushes slightly as you flounder, “Then what…?” Your hand gestures to them all sitting at the table.
Jason's eyes narrow on your embarrassed state.
“Don’t worry, she’s just a leech.”
“Hey!”
“Would you mind getting me one of those chocolate croissants?”
You shift on your feet with a look of confusion. He never asks for anything else. You nod, “Sure, anything else for the table?”
Tim looks like he’s about to ask for something, but Jason cuts him off with a glare. Instead, he shakes his head no. You hesitantly step away from the table but take your time going back to the kitchen to pull out one of the chocolate croissants and warm it up. Your eyes periodically glance back at the table. They crouch over the table and talk to each other. You worry for a moment that they’re talking about you and then decide that it doesn’t really matter. You had only met Tim and Steph today. Their opinion of you was worthless and You knew Jason wasn’t one for gossiping about others. You’ve watched Darla try and fail. Once you finally make it back over to the table with the croissant, Tim and Steph are gone leaving their half-full drinks on the table.
As you set the plate on the table you ask, “Scare them off?”
Jason lets out a sigh.
“If only. I’m sorry if they made you uncomfortable.” You shake your head in response.
“I'm sorry I made assumptions before I had all the information. I hope I didn’t offend.”
“I doubt you could ever offend anyone sweetheart” Your cheeks warm again.
“That’s not true I work in a public job, and I offend people all the time just standing” you joke. Jason smiles and nods.
“That’s fair. How could you be so lazy?” he teases. You giggle.
“Speaking of lazy, I should get back to work.” You point a thumb over your shoulder where a man leaves a table full of dishes.
“What time do you get off?” he asks. Your body freezes mid-turn at his abrupt question.
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to” he adds on, “I just enjoyed walking with you the other day and I parked my bike around the same area again, so I thought maybe…” He trails off his own cheeks flushing. Your body relaxes as you look at your watch to think. He had convenient timing; you were off soon. It was nice having someone to walk with and it wouldn’t hurt to see him on his bike again. You nod with warmed cheeks.
“I get off in about thirty minutes if you don’t mind waiting?” you say as your eyes meet his. He nods, smiling.
“It’ll give me time to read.” He lifts his book that was sitting on the table, the cover reading Pride and Prejudice.
“Again?” You can't help but ask. He looks at the book cover and rolls his eyes.
“You really want to have this conversation again?” you shake your head quickly at his question.
“I'll see you in thirty minutes.” With that, you walk away from him and throw yourself into your finishing tasks.
Additional notes: This was originally a much longer chapter but I decided to split it up. So, the next chapter is about them walking home. I have to tell you I cannot wait for ya’ll to read the next one cause I got carried away for like three seconds and had to do some backtracking. The plot was happening where I didn’t want it. I loved having Tim and Steph involved in this and just not being subtle about anything. Jason may have tried to kill Tim once but that won't stop him from being a little shit. Thank you for your love guys. This has been such an interesting experience, so the support has been lovely. Could I pretty please request hcs for both the Calculator man and Aalto with an s/o that's like Mortefi?😔 Like dragon like, with a tail and horns and all, cold on the outside, doesn't take any bs but loves them in private sm and the s/o brings them "small things" - either something practical like a compass, weapons, or something silly like a shiny rock lol
Either way thank you for your time!! Mwah
Ngl calculator man made wheeze– anyway, thanks for requesting anon♡(˘ ³˘)♡

Both of you are quite similar to eachother, cold and a bit distant, and not showing many emotions on the outside, but in the privacy of your abode, both of you don't shy away from each other opting to lay on the couch as his arms engulfs you and your tail wrapping around his torso as you nuzzle in his neck carefully not to pock him with your horns as the two of you enjoy eachothers company
Calcharo often finds himself with trinkets he never bought or scavenged things like shiny rocks or jewelry and even weapons, not that he is complaining, he treasures everything you give him. He loves buying gifts for you because he gets to see your ears red and your tail swishing in happiness.
Calcharo once accidentally touched one of your horns and was surprised when you let a squeak, which was quite uncharacteristic of you. He obviously apologized after seeing your red face and how your tail wrapped around yourself as you avoided his eyes, which he found pretty cute. He wonders if he touched your horns again(with permission ofc), would you have the same reaction.

At first, Aalto would be wary of you because of your cold and distant personality, but after spending time with you, he realized that you are just a big softy on the inside. This man will not stop teasing you to the point that you have to wrap your tail around his ankle and dangle him in the air(he liked it)
Aalto loves it when you gift him trinkets even if they are useless or just some rock he often teases with an annoying smirk asking you if it is a way of confessing your feelings towards him and asks if you see him as your mate to which you deny and say that he is being delusional (he is right u love him so much) . Oh, and he definitely gives you the black shores flower with a wink.
He once touched your horns without asking and got punched in the face, defiantly complained about ruining his pretty face, but one glare from you shut him up quickly. That still doesn't stop him from asking to touch them. You agreed after some time (he gave you the puppy dog eyes). When you guys sit next to each other, he would hug your tail because, according to him, it reduces stress or whatever (you smacked him with later)

Pairing: Jeon Wonwoox gn!Reader Summary: When your friend Chan invites (bribes) you to come watch his band play at a stupid frat party, you're surprised to see that Jeon Wonwoo from your social psychology class is the lead singer. Warnings: alcohol mentions, cursing Songs Mentioned: about last night - monsta x, sims - lauv
A/N: hehehehe I'm back for another Jeon Wonwoo autumn/winter rom-com. buckle in folks, this one was so cute to write. My last wonwoo series was for the bookworms, this one is for the keshi simps.
let me know if you'd like to be tagged! comments and rb's are appreciated :)
back to playlist || next track ⏭

“Chan, why the hell are you dragging us out to this party?” you complained to your friend as he threw himself down onto your sofa. He reached over to grab some candy from the bowl you had on your coffee table. You sent him a sharp glare and he swung his feet off the couch with a sheepish smile.
He simply shrugged in response to your question, the movement of his shoulders barely recognizable under the giant pumpkin costume he wore. “The band’s playing at some pre-Halloween party, Mingyu and Seungcheol told me to invite all my friends.”
A scoff came from the other side of the room, where Soonyoung, in his “sexy cowboy” costume, was leaning against the wall. “Do they know that you only have two of those?” You heard a laugh beside him as Chan glared at him.
“You’re here too, aren’t you?” Seungkwan raised an eyebrow at Soonyoung. “That makes four at least.” He put up each finger on one hand as he listed off everyone, besides Chan, present: himself, you, Soonyoung, and Hansol.
“I’m not his friend,” Hoshi rolled his eyes before looking away. “And Hansol is Seungcheol’s cousin, he doesn’t count. So yeah, smart-ass. Two friends.” He pointed at you and Seungkwan, who were dressed in matching pumpkin costumes with Chan. Hansol, who was dressed as three-hole-punch Jim from the Office, nodded in agreement.
Soonyoung, to some extent, was right. He sat by Chan in the psychology class you two shared (often asking if the two of you could share your notes with him) and Hansol comes to the band’s shows all the time.
“Hey,” you pointed out. “The pumpkin costumes were not my idea. I wanted to be Pitbull.” You attempted to cross your arms over the orange felt encasing your body, to no avail.
“Not fair,” Seungkwan countered. “We’ve been matching pumpkins since the fourth grade.”
“Why is Hansol exempt this year then?” You huffed.
“I told you guys I’d be a pumpkin on Halloween,” he shrugged. “It’s October 17th.”
You rolled your eyes. He had a point. And it was far too late for you to find a different costume now. Soonyoung scoffed at your playful bickering. “At least you’re a hot pumpkin,” he joked. You were used to Soonyoung’s flirtatious comments by now, but you never really took them too seriously. He didn’t either. He seemed like he only did it to get a rise out of Chan, who’d come to fill some sort of brotherly role in your life since you were kids.
“Yeah?” Chan spoke with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Glad you think I’m hot.” He and Seungkwan exchanged a laugh as Seungkwan walked to comfort a sulking Soonyoung.
“Not you,” Soonyoung turned away, swatting an arm out at Seungkwan who pat him on the back pitifully. “Ugh I don’t even know why I agreed to come along.”
“Because you needed my notes to pass class, dumbass,” Chan retorted.
Remembering your psych class, you cleared your throat before speaking. “Anyway,” you began. “The point was that we have a psych exam tomorrow and Halloween is still well over a week away.”
Chan mumbled something about the frat wanting to beat all the other frat parties happening and promising free coffee for you tomorrow in exchange for coming out tonight. You rolled your eyes in response. You couldn’t be begged to come, but you could be bribed, apparently.
With that, three pumpkins, a Jim looking for his Pam, and a sexy cowboy made their way to the local frat house. It felt pretty ridiculous really, to see the five of you (especially the pumpkins) all pile into Chan’s beat up Camry on a random Sunday in October.
The blue and white house that sat at the end of Greek row still seemed relatively untrashed, save for the (decorative?) shopping cart filled with empty cans of beers and seltzers on the front lawn. The party had yet to hit its full swing and you internally groaned at the thought of being here all night. Upon entering, the four of you followed Chan to where his band was beginning to set up. Somehow, they had managed to set up a stage in the cramped first floor of the house.
Chan’s band, No Name, consisted of him, and three other students from various departments of the school who were all also somehow academic weapons: Mingyu, a rather popular computer engineering major on lead guitar; Seungcheol, a finance major on drums; and Wonwoo, a biomedical engineering major, was their bassist and lead singer. Chan himself played rhythm guitar as well as keyboard, and was a junior in music education.
He started in the band around the end of the spring semester when Joshua, the previous guitarist for the band, and the others came up to him after one of his recitals to invite him into the band. Chan talked about his band members a lot, but this was the first time you were going to meet them in person.
The rest of the band was already on stage, tuning their instruments and messing with the amps and wires that were scattered around. They looked up at Chan as he hopped onto the platform to join them. Mingyu gave him an excited wave as he played a few test notes on his guitar. Seungcheol gave him an acknowledging nod, before turning his attention back to his drums.
The third member, Wonwoo, looked up and nodded at Chan before glancing at the rest of you. He seemed surprised to see you there because you watched his dark eyes flicker back to you. His gaze was intense, but cautious. You turned your head in confusion until you realized you’d seen him in class before. You hadn’t really spoken to him before, but you gave him a light wave anyway and he returned with the same nod he gave Chan.
“Hansol,” Mingyu greeted him with a kind of friendliness that reminded you of a puppy. “Jim from the Office?” Hansol gave him a nod, appreciating that he got the reference and gave him a high five in response. Seungcheol was not in costume, but Mingyu and Wonwoo seemed to have a matching motif – Mingyu was wearing all white with a halo headband atop their head, and Wonwoo was in all black with devil horns on his head. Mingyu turned his attention to the rest of you and hopped off the stage to meet you. “Hansol, you’ll have to introduce me to your friends.”
“Right,” Hansol started. He introduced you and Soonyoung to Mingyu and to Seungcheol and Wonwoo who were listening while finishing up. Soonyoung nodded to Wonwoo who looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“Hey bro,” Soonyoung greeted. Wonwoo scoffed in return with a shake of his head.
“Not your bro,” he replied curtly. His icy stare and stoic demeanor was not the type you’d expect from the lead singer of a beloved campus band. You’d heard girls and guys in class swooning over him, but to be honest, he wasn’t what you expected. He seemed like the type to want to be far, far away from a party, let alone perform at one.
Mingyu raised an eyebrow at him in amusement. “Sorry about him, he’s not good with strangers,” he said with a laugh, as if this was something that happened often. Icy… but with a bite, it seemed.
Wonwoo rolled his eyes behind his glasses. “This is that idiot who sits in front of me and watches Fortnite streams during class.” Mingyu hummed in recognition as Wonwoo explained. You couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at Wonwoo’s dry response, earning his gaze.
“He’s right Soonyoung,” you agreed. “You are a bit of an idiot.” Wonwoo’s lips twitched at your agreement.
“And you’re the one who shares notes with the idiot so he passes,” he raised a challenging eyebrow at you. There was a glint in his eyes that you couldn’t quite read.
“Yup,” you affirmed with a grin, meeting his eyes. “His savior, if anything.”
Soonyoung opened his mouth to retort before a voice caught everyone’s attention. Jun, the president of the frat called out to Wonwoo. He was dressed as a minion. “Hey Wonwoo,” he greeted. “Are you guys ready? More people are starting to show up, so I figured I’d ask if you guys were ready to start your set.” Wonwoo nodded and Jun turned to the rest of you. “There’s snacks and drinks in the kitchen.” He leaned over and lowered his voice conspiratorially before adding, “I’d go ahead and dig into the charcuterie before Seokmin gets here and gets a whiff of the prosciutto.”
The group of you moved away from the amps by the stage and towards the kitchen where, sure enough, enough alcohol and snacks for an army were haphazardly layed out. A strum from the guitar and a tap on the mic caught your attention as Wonwoo introduced the band. “Hey everyone, we’re No Name. Enjoy, I guess.” Without any more fanfare, he turned to Seungcheol and nodded as they began their first song, a rather upbeat song about partying. The cheers from the now crowded living area spurred them on. With a fresh drink in your red cup, you made your way back towards the stage to watch the group.
Honestly they were pretty good, and you wondered why it had taken you so long to actually see one of their shows. Mingyu had an upbeat and charismatic aura on stage, constantly bouncing on his feet and even sending an occasional flirty wink to people in the crowd. Seungcheol seemed to get lost in the music and you watched as his eyes shut and he seemed to be in his own world. Even Chan, who looked focused on his instrument, nodded his head along to the music and you could recognize his voice ever so often in a harmony.
And there was Wonwoo.
Although he didn’t look it… or particularly sound like it from his cold and short manner of speaking, had a melodic tone to his low voice. He was much different on stage than what you had gleaned from him in the short interaction you had with him. Then, he felt intense and closed off, as if he had already placed himself at an emotional distance from those around him. His stage presence however, was magnetic – the way he leaned into his microphone and would turn to face the band every so often to give cues, he seemed so in command, The way he’d smirk every so often or scan around the audience, it made you want to be the object of his gaze. it was impossible not to stare.
About last night, I was undone God it feels right, being so wrong And I realized, all the blurry nights are when I feel alive.
You looked around at your friends as you began to dance. Hansol gently bobbed along to the music. Seungkwan stood beside him, taking a sip from his red cup. Soonyoung was talking animatedly to Jun and a guy whose plate was full of cheese and prosciutto – Seokmin, you remember. This was fun, you concluded.
Back on stage, Mingyu hit a high note that caught your attention and the fanfare told you the song was coming to an end. You watched mesmerized as Wonwoo stepped away from the microphone to pluck a string of notes on his bass, head nodding along to the music before returning to the mic and gripping it with both hands. “About last night…” he trailed off and ran his hands through his jet black hair. The rest of the band continued on with the last measures of the song, Mingyu’s fingers flying up and down the neck of his guitar and Seungcheol running through the end of a drum solo.
You found yourself grinning as you clapped and cheered along with the crowd. After a brief pause, Wonwoo’s bass kicked off the next song and you scurried off to the kitchen to top off your drink and grab a snack. With the light buzz of alcohol in your head, you began to realize you didn’t seem to particularly mind the growing crowd dancing alongside you. Time seemed to pass quickly as you found yourself eagerly waiting for each new song the band played. The energy on stage felt electric and contagious, and you found yourself locked in on one member in particular – Wonwoo.
There was something about how he sang each lyric with a raw rasp in his voice and the way his fingers slid down his fretboard with ease that made him so good to look at. The music they played was fun and upbeat, but when they slowed down for a final song, it surprised you enough to snap you out of your trance as Wonwoo spoke in the mic again, leaning in enough that his lips touched the cold metal.
“It’s our last song of the night,” he began with a sigh, catching his breath from the last song. He grabbed his water bottle that was by his mic stand and took a quick sip before wiping some sweat off his brow and continuing. He set his own bass down and reached for the acoustic guitar that was set between him and Chan. “Let’s chill the fuck out and slow things down. For the last time, we’re No Name.”
Wonwoo’s voice came out over a smooth melody on the keyboard. As people began to gather in pairs or move away from the dance floor, you found yourself close to the stage once again. Wonwoo seemed to catch your eye as he continued to sing and strum gently. His voice had a gentle vibrato to it and it was mesmerizing.
It wasn’t till you felt a tap on your shoulder and you saw Wonwoo’s eyes flicker to a figure beside you that you turned to see Soonyoung offering his hand out to you. “Wanna dance?” he asked casually. You shrugged as you slipped your hands around the back of his neck. His hands awkwardly found your waist, squishing your pumpkin costume in the middle so you looked a little bit more like a squash instead.
“What happened to Jun and Seokmin?” you asked Soonyoung curiously.
“Ditched them so I could dance with you,” he shrugged.
You had hung out with him a couple of times outside of class, mostly to study, but Soonyoung never seemed very interested in you past being a study buddy turned friend. You raised your eyebrow at him skeptically.
“I tried to ask another girl to dance,” he admitted with a sad chuckle. “But she was definitely more interested in other girls than she was in me,” Soonyoung chuckled quietly. “Plus you looked kinda silly, a giant pumpkin standing by itself in front of the stage.” You turned around, eyes wide, to realize that you were in fact the only person who was on the dance floor alone. Hansol had gone off to the kitchen to find Seokmin and Seungkwan was somewhere outside playing a drinking game. Soonyoung must have noticed your embarrassment because he was quick to continue speaking.
“Don’t worry,” Soonyoung continued. “I too would be transfixed if it seemed like a hot singer was singing right at me.” You felt yourself blush at his comment.
“Shut up Soonyoung,” you chastised. “Or else I’ll tell Wonwoo you think he’s hot.” “Game respects game,” Soonyoung chuckled with a shake of his head and leaned in to speak near your ear. You could hear the smirk in his voice. “Don’t believe me?” You shook your head no in response. “His eyes haven’t left you since we started dancing.”
Sure enough, Wonwoo was still watching the pair of you as you gently swayed to the melody. The song came to a close soon after and Soonyoung jokingly twirled you away from him before whispering “Go get ‘em, tiger.”
You found yourself stunned as he walked away and turned back to the stage just in time to see Wonwoo set his guitar in its case before hopping down in front of you. Without his guitar slung in front of him, you could see his outfit better. He wore a black turtleneck that clung nicely to his toned chest and arms and black slacks. Wire framed glasses sat on his face and from here you could tell how thick the lenses were. The only Halloween-y part of his outfit were the devil horns that sat on his head… which he promptly removed. Even with his hair disheveled and the glow of sweat on his skin, he looked good. He ran his hands through his dark hair and took a sip of his water, not once breaking eye contact with you. It felt a little intense, really, and even more so when you realized you couldn’t read anything from his gaze.
“You guys are really good,” you offered with a smile that you hoped didn’t come off too eager, afraid to scare him off. “I really liked that last song.”
The corner of his lip twitched upwards in a flicker that you might have missed if you weren’t studying his face so closely. It felt satisfying, in a way, and almost like a challenge. How could you get a full smile? His quiet “Thanks,” lingered in the air between the two of you. Was he this reserved around everyone else, or was there something about you that made him feel as nervous as you did?
“You’re in my psych class, right?” Did he already forget or was he just looking for a way to continue the conversation? You played along, wondering if his cold demeanor was just hiding a nervous guy.
“Yeah I am,” you confirmed, recalling the conversation from earlier. “I sit next to the idiot.” Wonwoo’s lips turned upwards in amusement as he processed your reference and he nodded.
“Cool,” he said simply. He didn’t say anything else, but he made no move to leave either, so you tried your best to continue the conversation.
“When–”
“We–”
Wonwoo finally let out an amused scoff. You figured that’s the closest you’d get to a genuine laugh, and it was enough to put your nerves at ease for the time being. “Go ahead,” you said.
“We’re playing at another party here in two weeks if you want to come,” he said cooly, but the way his fingers fidgeted around the plastic water bottle as if it was the neck of his guitar made you think he might be thinking about this conversation as hard as you.
“Sure, I–” you paused as you thought about the date. “Wouldn’t that be November already?”
A scoff escaped his lips again. “Yeah, some stupid shit about a post-Halloween soiree leading into no-nut-November. A gig is a gig, I guess.” He sounded less than amused about the theme of the party but shrugged it off.
You laughed at the stupidity of it all. “Sure, yeah, I’ll try to come by.”
You smiled at him. He smiled back at you, well, smirked more like. “Cool,” was all he said.
A buzz from your wrist caught your attention, reminding you that it was nearing 1 a.m. and that you had told yourself to go home to study for your exam. You looked back up at Wonwoo apologetically. “Sorry,” you began. “I have to get home, I want to study before tomorrow.”
Wonwoo hummed in acknowledgement and you wondered when he found time to study for his own classes. He nodded towards the door, offering to walk you out. He didn’t really say much until you were both at the front porch of the house, with the cool autumn breeze seeping through the felt of your costume. “I’ll see you around?” he asked.
You nodded in response. “See you around.”
“Cool,” he said again. You moved to begin walking home but turned back with a smile and a two finger salute when you heard him say “Nice costume, by the way.” You had a feeling he wasn’t going to say that to Seungkwan or Chan.
Sure enough, the next time you saw Wonwoo was after your psychology exam the next morning.
You had woken up at your desk after falling asleep studying with only 20 minutes until class began. With no other options, you quickly brushed your teeth and washed your face but ran out of your apartment without bothering to change out of your pajamas.
Last night after coming home from the party, you found it difficult to focus on your notes. All you could think about was Wonwoo and his piercing stare. You’d definitely seen his eyes before, but being the subject of their gaze was something else entirely. You recalled the feeling in the pit of your stomach the first time he looked at you. It wasn’t until your phone buzzed with a text from Hansol stating that he made it home safely that you snapped out of your daze enough to begin studying.
You arrived just in time for the test to begin, but too late to sit in your usual seat by Chan and Soonyoung. Panting, as you slid into the first available seat, you grumbled at the way you could feel your pajama pants awkwardly riding up your calves and the slight glimmer of sweat that seemed to now layer over your forehead. You’ve definitely seen better days.
Even now, in the middle of the exam, a question about the misattributed signs of attraction had you thinking back to Wonwoo. Talk about real life applications. Elevated heartbeat, shortness of breath… it definitely wasn’t stress or fear that had you feeling that way around him. You let out a sigh as you circled the letter C.
When the exam was finally over, you met the two of them outside of the classroom.
“No, you idiot,” Soonyoung argued. “You’re thinking of the halo effect, the answer was the reciprocal liking effect.” They were in the middle of arguing about what the correct answer on a part of the exam was and you watched Chan scramble to pull his messy notebook out of his backpack to find it in his notes. Before you could interrupt and correct them, a low voice beat you to it.
“It’s the mere exposure effect, you dumbasses,” You turned around with a chuckle, turning to see Wonwoo, standing a little too close, right behind you. You could smell the cologne he wore, something that must be out of your price range. He wore a crisp white t-shirt and black sweatpants and you felt slightly embarrassed at your own pajama pants-hoodie-bedhead combo.
“Huh?” Chan asked as he tried to skim through his notes. “But isn’t that–”
“Mere exposure suggests that the more times we encounter someone or something, the more we tend to like it,” you explained. Wonwoo nodded in agreement. Something about getting his validation made your heart skip a beat.
“Looks like the studying paid off,” he commented, turning to face you with the faintest hint of a smirk. Was he teasing you?
“Sure did,” you replied with confidence, though you found yourself blushing under his gaze.
“Take a nap,” Wonwoo suggested, looking you up and down. “You look like shit.” His deadpan tone almost made you miss the mischievous glint behind his eyes. You turned to him with a sharp eye before you realized that was his attempt at witty banter. Instead of a scowl, you rolled your eyes instead.
“What every person wants to hear at 9 in the morning,” you shot back. “I’ll nap after this one buys me a coffee.” You gestured to Chan who had now turned back to Soonyoung to argue about a different question. Wonwoo scoffed as he watched the two bicker before turning to the voice that called his name from behind. It was Mingyu and Seungcheol.
“See you around,” he said before heading in their direction. You watched as Mingyu clapped a hand on his back and Seungcheol offer him some of his pack of Oreos as they retreated down the hallway. What an interesting friend group, you thought to yourself.
You didn’t see Wonwoo much after that day. Or Chan for that matter.
For the next few classes, Chan and Wonwoo left rather promptly to have band practice in preparation for their early November gig. So those days, you found yourself walking to the library with Soonyoung.
“I haven’t seen Chan have to go to practice this often since the summer,” you had remarked to him as you walked. The party was tomorrow night, and Chan and Wonwoo skipped class altogether for rehearsal so you promised to send Chan your notes.
“Yeah,” Soonyoung agreed as he brushed a fallen leaf off the top of his hair, ruffling it in the process. “But apparently they have a new song on their setlist, so I guess that’s why.”
“A new song,” you echoed, half listening. Your mind wandered back to the image of Wonwoo on stage, the way he played, how he held onto the microphone. It must be some song if they’re practicing so hard. If he wrote a song would it be as complex and enigmatic as he seemed to be? Or would it be something completely unlike him?
“You’re doing it again,” Soonyoung’s teasing tone cut you out of your thoughts. He snapped a finger in front of your face. “You’ve been spacing out a lot lately. It was cute at first, but now it’s concerning.”
You groaned at his accusation. “I’m not spacing out,” you huffed.
“Right…” He grinned mischievously. “So who is it? Tell me so I can give you my stamp of approval.”
Something flipped in your stomach as you rolled your eyes at your friend. “Focus on your own love life, Soonyoung. Anyway, you said Chan told you about it?”
He raised a teasing eyebrow before raising his hands in defense, allowing you to change the subject. “Yeah, he did,” he confirmed. “And what about it?”
You were surprised to learn that Soonyoung had a conversation with Chan past arguing over class notes, and you noted the shade of red that dusted the tops of his ears when he saw you look at him inquisitively. “Nothing,” you replied coyly. “Just glad to see you guys are friends now.” Soonyoung rolled his eyes and you shoved him playfully. He shook his head with a soft laugh.
“I guess if I have to see him every day, we might as well be friends,” Soonyoung admitted. “Mere exposure effect or whatever.”
“Aw, you are learning, Soonyoung.”
The next evening you found yourself at yet another frat house in front of another stage. At least this time you weren’t in a pumpkin costume, but rather in an actual outfit that you felt good about (One that wasn’t picked out by any of your friends).
You managed to arrive in time to catch the band setting up, wanting to offer help, but not really knowing how. Instead you sat on the couch beside a bored looking Hansol as he fiddled with the cup in his hands.
“Most people don’t show up to parties until they’re actually parties,” Hansol sighed as he rested his chin in his hands. You watched as Chan fiddled with the tuning pegs of his guitar in front of Wonwoo who played him his pitches on the keyboard. You chuckled in agreement. There really wasn’t much going on quite yet as the party had yet to truly begin.
“We could have come by later in the evening,” you replied.
“Nah,” Hansol countered. “I’m bored, but I’d rather be bored here with you and the band than bored alone at home. Plus this way everyone knows I’m ‘with the band’ or whatever. Keeps weirdos away from my cousin.” As if to prove his point, he sent a glare towards the poor girl who walked up and offered Seungcheol a water bottle. He had a point. He at least had a loose reason to be here early, but did you?
You could say that Hansol dragged you here with him, but he didn’t really. You weren’t really “with the band” either. You looked back over at the stage and caught Wonwoo’s eye. He gave you a single wave. You’d leveled up from last week’s curt nod, you realized with a soft chuckle. You continued to watch as he returned his attention to his microphone stand. Maybe, you thought, it was reason enough that you liked seeing the band set up.
By the time No Name got to the middle of their set, you were having a great time dancing with Hansol who was more than buzzed. You also felt a little tipsy, but you were nowhere near Hansol’s level. One of you had to be sober enough to care for the other. Wonwoo cleared his throat into the mic before speaking. “This is a new song. Happy Halloween and no-nut-November.” Although his face remained passive, you could tell now that Wonwoo was poking fun at the drunk frat boys that were scattered about and cheering loudly.
Hansol leaned over to you as a keyboard melody began to play. “Chan said you’d probably like this one,” He slurred into your ear. You winced at the volume of his voice and the smell of beer. He’d regret this in the morning.
I wish that you and I lived in The Sims We could build a house and plant some flowers and have kids But we’re both at some trashy Halloween party downtown
Wonwoo let his bass hang around his neck as he wrapped both of his hands around his microphone and leaned in close, as if his proximity to the microphone could fill the room with a sense of intimacy.
I wish that we lived on a VHS I'd erase the things I said and that I'll probably say again Hit rewind on all the times I got lost in my head
Hansol was right, and you were pleased to know that your many years of knowing Chan paid off in him knowing your taste in music. You wondered if he had any influence in writing it and you made a mental note to ask him about it some other time. It was a different vibe than some of the songs the band played last time you saw them, but the crowd seemed to enjoy it and so did you.
The rest of the set was filled with songs that were familiar to you – songs you heard at the last show, and songs that you’d heard Chan practice when you came to visit him, Seungkwan, and Hansol at their apartment. Same as last time, the set closed with a slower song, but with no real interest in slow dancing with each other, you and Hansol stumbled out to the backyard instead, opting for some fresh air. In the moonlight, you could see the red glow that rose in his cheeks, a side effect of the alcohol. Knowing him, he was on the verge of falling asleep and you were thankful that Chan would be finished with his set soon and could deal with him instead. Seungkwan had cleverly avoided going to this party, leaving you and to care for their roommate instead. As much as you loved your friend, Hansol became a deadweight when he was drunk, as if all his muscles became laced with actual iron.
As if on cue, the final strum of the song rang out and soon after, Chan plopped down between you and a sleeping Hansol. He scoffed at the sight, laughing at Hansol’s soft snores. He pulled out his phone to take a photo of him in his peaceful state and you laughed softly.
“You know he’ll kill you tomorrow morning once he sees that,” you warned him. Chan chuckled and shook his head as he reached under Hansol’s back to pull him into a more comfortable sitting position and he murmured a quiet thank you. It was hard to believe that in any other square inch of this party there were frat boys throwing up on the grass when a scene as soft and gentle was playing out right in front of you.
“Eh,” Chan shrugged carefully, assessing his friend’s state. “I think I can take a hungover Hansol.” He smiled as he patted him on the crown of his head before looking back towards you. “Did you drink tonight?” Chan asked curiously.
You nodded and reached your hand up to feel how warm your cheeks had gotten from the alcohol. “Not nearly as much as Sol,” you answered.
“Do you have a ride?” Chan asked, concern lacing his voice. “I didn’t drive today.”
“I was just planning on walking back,” you shrugged your shoulders. Chan’s brows furrowed together in thought.
“If Seungkwan’s around, you should ask him to walk with you,” Chan suggested. “Or I guess that tiger-wannabe dumbass. He’s fine, I guess.” You laughed at Chan’s mention of Soonyoung.
“I didn’t even know they came,” you admitted.
“They showed up kinda late,” Chan explained. “I saw them show up towards the end of the set.” You hummed in response.
“I’ll keep an eye out then,” you promised as you turned away. “You sure you don’t need my help?” You glanced at Hansol who was now starting to tip to the side as Chan shook his head and waved you away.
“Text me when you get home!”
Back inside the house, the sounds of the band had been replaced with someone’s playlist blasting over the speakers. After doing a lap around the house, your two other friends were nowhere to be found. You knew you were hitting the end of your own social battery as you approached the kitchen in search for a water bottle to take with you before heading out. Although you didn’t drink as much as Hansol did, the warmth in your throat reminded you that it would be a smart idea to start hydrating. You immediately headed for the cooler that was propped on the counter and dug through the ice and cans of beer until you found what you needed. You wiped your hand against the fabric of your top, trying to regain feeling in your cold fingers before you heard a familiar voice call your name.
“Wonwoo,” you smiled at him in greeting. Today he wore a simple gray sweater with black jeans, and you wondered if he owned anything colorful in his closet. “You guys killed it today.”
Wonwoo’s eyes lit up ever so slightly at the compliment. “Thanks,” he began, and you wondered if that’s all he’d say. “We practiced a lot.”
“And it paid off,” you agreed, opening your water to take a sip. “I really liked that new song.”
You noted how Wonwoo’s mouth twitched into a small smile. “Really?” he asked.
“Yeah,” you nodded enthusiastically. “It’s right up my alley, and I liked the lyrics too.”
That answer seemed to please Wonwoo who turned his head to hide a gentle blush that crept up his cheeks before clearing his throat to change the subject. “Not drinking tonight?” Wonwoo nodded at the water bottle in your hands.
“I drank plenty,” you chuckled. “It’s for my walk home.”
“You’re walking home?” Wonwoo repeated. “Where’s Chan?”
“Chan?” you echoed as Wonwoo nodded. “He’s dealing with a drunk sleeping Hansol. I told him I'd go with Seungkwan or Soonyoung, but I can’t seem to find either of them.”
Wonwoo hummed as you explained. A beat of silence fell between the two of you as he looked around, lost in his own thoughts. “I’ll help you find them,” he offered with a quieter voice before nodding towards the stairs. For a moment, you hesitated and wondered why he was offering at all. Wonwoo didn’t seem like the type to go out of his way to help someone who was effectively still a stranger. Maybe he wasn’t as cold and distant as he tried to make himself out to be.
You followed close behind him struggling to shove your way through the crowd until you realized Wonwoo had stretched his hand behind him to grab hold of your wrist. “Stay close,” he called to you. You wished you could read the stoic expression that remained fixed on his gaze, but everything about him seemed so… calculated, down to the way his fingers lightly brushed against your wrist as he guided you through the crowd.
Honestly, It was a pleasant surprise that he had offered to help you at all. Half of you expected him to just reply with a simple “cool,” as what seemed to be his default response, and be done with it. Instead, he was dragging you up the stairs and shoving people out of the way on your behalf. You blushed as you realized what this might look like to the random onlooker. The two of you must have looked like any other couple at a frat party, headed upstairs to do something unsavory.
Before you could relish the idea any longer, Wonwoo dropped your hand as he found a clearing by the railing at the upstairs landing where there was a decent view of the party going on downstairs. “It’s easier to find someone when you have a bird’s-eye view,” he explained as his eyes scanned over the sea of partygoers.
You turned your attention to where he was looking before spotting Seungkwan’s blonde hair and Soonyoung’s silvery white hair, both unmistakable from your point of view. “There they are,” you noted excitedly. Wonwoo scoffed in amusement at how a simple observation got you so excited. “It looks like Seungkwan’s… occupied,” you chuckled to yourself. Seungkwan in the middle of belting out a Whitney Houston song by a karaoke machine. You decided you’d best not bother him and sighed in relief when you saw Soonyoung was just chatting idly with Jun near the door.
Wonwoo walked with you back down the stairs until you found Soonyoung, who smiled and greeted you with a hug. “Hey, stranger.” He turned to Wonwoo with a polite, but distant wave. “Hey b-” he cleared his throat, correcting himself. “Hey Wonwoo.”
A scoff escaped Wonwoo’s lips as they formed into a smirk. “Hey, Hochi-Mochi.” Soonyoung’s face immediately fell into a frown.
“Only my mom– how do you even know about that?” Soonyoung ran a hand down his face as Jun laughed beside him.
“You leave your brightness all the way up when you text your mom from your laptop in class,” Wonwoo explained with a casual shrug, much to Soonyoung’s dismay. “And you have the default font size of a billboard ad.”
Jun put a hand on Soonyoung’s shoulder and shook his head in laughter. “I’m gonna go ahead, Hochi-Mochi. See you around.” He waved goodbye at the three of you before disappearing into the crowd.
“Et tu, Brute?” Soonyoung grumbled as he watched you laugh along. “On that note, I think I’m gonna go too,”
Wonwoo watched your hand as it flew up to grab Soonyoung’s elbow as he turned away. “Wait,” you sighed as your laughter died down. “I was gonna ask if you could walk me home, since Chan and Seungkwan are otherwise occupied.”
Soonyoung’s eyebrow shot up as his eyes moved between your hand that tugged at his sleeve and the steely dark eyes that seemed to be intensely watching his next move. He paused for a second before finally answering you. His face had slipped into an expression that you couldn’t quite read. “I don’t mind but–”
“I’m Mingyu’s designated driver, and he lives like a half hour away,” Wonwoo seemed to answer Soonyoung’s question before it even came out. Would he have offered otherwise? you thought to yourself. You turned your gaze to Wonwoo, still unreadable as ever, and wondered why he answered so quickly.
“I see,” Soonyoung replied skeptically before turning to you with a shrug. “I’m ready whenever you are.”
You nodded to Soonyoung and the three of you walked towards the door where Wonwoo hung back and leaned against the door frame as you moved past him. You weren’t sure if you were on hugging terms with Wonwoo yet (or if he even had hugging terms for that matter), so you opted to give him a wave instead.
“See you around?” you smiled at Wonwoo warmly, hoping to mask the rush of nervousness that seemed to flood through you every time you were the subject of his gaze. His eyes lingered on yours for a moment longer and for a brief second, they softened, in a way that seemed to melt away his icy exterior that you’d thought was unbreakable.
“See you around,” was all he said, but the three words seemed to carry more weight – a promise that something was beginning. This time, there was no mistaking it.
His eyes definitely softened.

I need the kids to have watched Bruce get his ass kicked by window reader. Like all of them cheering her on because who doesn’t wanna see the Batman lose to this (much smaller of a build) person. He’s 6 foot something and she’s 4 to 5 foot something 😂 anyways I loved the new chapter it was so good. That I’ve decided I don’t wanna throw rocks
LMAO 4 SOMETHING FEET? Widow reader that small would have to get extra nasty in a fight like-it'd be a bloodbath 😅
If you mean the actual accidental fight in the alleyway? Babs 100% got that on camera and watched every bit of it on repeat. Probably did some bat-ai digital enhancing so she could watch it in 4K if it was on some shitty security camera. And yes, she shared it in the non-Batman group chat with the others. Jason rated the gun-slap 8/10, (he thinks they could've hit harder, loosen a tooth at the least!)
Damian and Cass both rate the gas splash and bottle smash 10/10. They can appreciate using what's available to you.
Now I wanna do a normal sparring blurb 😂
Everyone's in the cave for the first official spar with widow, they've seen them train and workout by now, but they all do that, even Alfred does. So it's nothing groundbreaking, what they really wanna see is their fighting style.
Currently Bruce and widow are on the mats, hands wrapped and taped up and they've got compression wear on their elbows and knees for safety of course. The others are all watching very closely as Bruce gestures then towards the center of the mat to explain the rules.
"alright, let's go over the basics. No hitting below the belt, no going for the eyes, and no deadly force." He gives you a pointed look at that one while Jason boos him and gives two thumbs down from where he's leaning against a post, Bruce continues speaking regardless of the interruption. "... This is a serious spar though, and I'd like you to treat it as such. No horsing around, just give me your best shots so I can see what you can do."
You watch him patiently while tightening your wrist wraps one last time, the pressure feels nice after all this time without proper gear, but hitting a person is gonna be even nicer. "It's a serious fight?"
Bruce clears his throat subtly, Cass and Tim exchange glances and out of the corner of your eye, you watch Stephanie and Barbara handing something to each other.
"yes, like I said I wanna see what you can-oof!" Bruce grunts as your shin connects with his side in a sudden crane kick, the strike was so sudden it caught him off guard as you hadn't even wound yourself up first.
Stephanie loudly guffaws and you hear someone slapping something, possibly covering their mouth?
Well the fights on apparently.
Bruce throws his hand up to catch your arm as you swing a left hook at him and moves his foot to sweep your ankles, okay maybe it was just a lucky shot-
Your free arm grabs his wrist while you hop over his leg, pressing your feet against his side and leveraging yourself up to throw a thigh over his arm so you're now upside down, hanging your entire weight off his limb like a fucking spider monkey. You secure one thigh around his bicep, squeezing him hard enough that you won't be shook off easily and start kicking at his head with the other leg.
Holy shit you're brutal, he should've worn a mouth piece or something because wow you don't pull your punches or kicks. Bruce quickly drops his weight to the mat like a ragdoll, using his size to his advantage to land heavily on you and put your damn kicking to a stop.
Jason's calling out random advise to you like this is a televised wrestling match and Duke is filming the whole thing, narrating and giving commentary to his phone like this is a nature documentary.
Even Dick is invested, though he's trying to maintain a calm demeanor since Damian's right beside him, trying to analyze your moves and he's trying not to distract the kid.
As soon as both of you loosen your grip you roll away from each other, Bruce quickly stands but you remain squatting, hunched like a defensive cat in the center of the mat. The kids and Bruce are watching you closely, are you out of surprise attacks? Your whole thing seems to be take them by surprise and end it as quickly as possible so maybe you're running out of ideas?
You tilt your head as you watch Bruce closely, your expression becomes more mocking as you smirk at him.
"well? Do I have to take the lead on everything or are you gonna move."
Bruce knows a goad when he hears one, but obviously you expect him to participate more than just blocking and standing around so he'll oblige you. Cautiously, he steps forward. Leading with his dominant side in defensive posture as he waits for you to do something.
Instead you just stand up and back away like you hadn't taunted him a moment ago, do you expect him to follow you all the way across the mat? You're not exactly indicating anything with your body language so Bruce carefully pauses in the middle of the area to see what you'll do, his stance widens and he keeps his hands up and close to himself.
The cave seems to quiet down as everyone holds their breath in wait, nine pairs of eyes on you as you stretch your arms above your head, then dart towards Bruce.
You throw your elbow up towards his throat and he blocks, he blocks the knee aiming for his gut too. Feeling emboldened he attempts to throw a kick but you hop out of the way like a bunny and then come right back into his personal space, he catches your hand bait you can aim for his nose and starts to twist your arm behind your back to restrain you, but you lean forward and again drop your weight to the mat like a wet bag of laundry and kick at his elbow.
He grunts disapprovingly at that. "What part of fight clean did you not get?"
Alfred speaks up from what he's occupying the bat computer chair. "You did say this was a serious fight, master Bruce."
He crosses his arms over his chest scornfully, one thin brow raising as if judging Bruce.
Stephanie Snickers and lightly elbows Cass. "I'm starting to think all shorties are viscous, I thought you and Tim were examples not the standard."
"hey!" Tim sounds very offended at that, but still doesn't take his eyes off the ring for long.
"well you know what they say, short people are closer to hel-ow!" Damian roughly elbows Dick before he can finish that sentence.
While the crowd of children all bicker, you kick Bruce in the knee in an attempted take down. He grunts in pain but manages to stay upright enough to throw his arms around you in an aggressive bear hug, yanking you close enough to trap you against his body. as soon as his hands move you tense.
Once his arms start to lock around you do you realize he's going for a classic chokehold, so before he can lock his hand in the crook of his elbow you play dirty and reach up to give him a nasty horse bite. Your thumb and forefinger curl and pinch the softest part of his inner underarm, you knowing damn well how many nerves are there as you grab as hard as you can.
The second Bruce hisses you let go and quickly drop your weight and drive your elbow into his liver repeatedly, he seems to be fed up with you and drops his arms from around your neck to grab your waist and body slam you to the floor.
That really winded you, so you're slow to wriggle out from under him. Though you both seem to be done for the moment as he sits down properly, now he's just watching you quietly as he recovers. His dignity
Duke is the first one to break the silence that followed the end of the fight, pausing his video and triumphantly holding his phone in the air. "I got all of it!"
Babs glances over at him in amusement. "You know there are cameras all over in here, right?"
Duke nods even as Jason sidles over to him and gestures for his phone. "Obvs, but those don't capture the best angles on the training mats."
Dick ducks into the little training area and hands both you and Bruce a water bottle and a helping hand up, Bruce declines as he cracks his bottle where he sits but you allow the younger man to pull you to your feet. Smirking to yourself before throwing one final verbal jab at the man before walking off the mats.
"y'know..... Bucky definitely still hits harder."
He scowls at your back so quickly you'd think you'd just poisoned his drink, dropping the water bottle as he pushes himself to his feet. "Okay, who the hell is Bucky!?"

A/n: thank you for sparing me, I've had threats of dog-stealing and everything 😭😭based some of this off past boxing experience lol 😂 smaller hands might equal less muscle behind it, but the smaller point of impact can make up for the power loss and still mess u up. At least that's what I remember that ish felt like anywho, I've slept since then so eh 🤷♀️

Hi! I was wondering if I could request a female reader x Thanos.
What about reader and thanos we’re close before the games both harbouring feelings maybe, but they both have mental health struggles and she is someone who dose things with out thinking of the consequences because she doesn’t care so anyway when they find each other in the games thanos is aware of her tendencies and is like kind of babysitting her.
Like in the first game she makes zero move once she finds out you die and he literally drags her across, and maybe the second game she is always his first choice but she just lays there depressed and cynical and makes sarcastic comments while him and nah gy go around finding team mates or in mingle she makes no move but ofc he always saves her ass, until one night he gives her a rude awakening a harsh pep talk feeling confessing etc. u can put your own spin on it ofc ofc!!
I DON’T CARE
parings: thanos/choi su-bong x f!reader
warnings: swearing, mention of drugs and alcohol, mental health issues, death, blood, typical squid game stuff
You and Thanos had always been a little fucked up.
That’s what made you close.
You met him at a party two years ago—one of those loud, suffocating nights where everyone was either high, drunk, or trying to be. He was leaning against a balcony, smoking, watching the chaos unfold like it was a movie he’d seen a hundred times before.
You had walked up, grabbed the cigarette from his lips, and took a drag without asking.
He had let you.
“You look like you want to jump,” you had said, staring down at the city lights.
He had snorted. “You look like you wouldn’t care if I did.”
That was the start of it.
You weren’t exactly good for each other, but you understood each other. The reckless, self-destructive tendencies. The numbness that came in waves. You never had to explain why you did the things you did—skipping work for days at a time, getting blackout drunk just to feel something, making choices that could ruin you without thinking twice. Because he got it.
And maybe that was why, despite all the tension, all the times you nearly crossed the line from friends to something else, you never did. Because you knew the second you let him have you, you wouldn’t be able to stop.
Then he disappeared.
You heard the rumors—he got into drugs, got into trouble, owed money to the wrong people. You had reached out once, maybe twice, but you never pushed. And eventually, you stopped trying.
Until now.
Until you saw him again.
Your head was pounding. Your body ached. You barely remembered how you got here, only that you had woken up in this fucking tracksuit with the number 067 on your chest and some masked freak telling you to follow the others.
And then—
“No fucking way.”
Your stomach twisted at the sound of his voice.
You turned.
And there he was.
Thanos.
He looked like hell—bruised knuckles, tired eyes, the same cocky smirk that always made you want to punch him in the face.
“Didn’t think I’d see you again,” he said, stepping closer. His gaze flickered over you, as if making sure you were real.
You swallowed. “Yeah. Same.”
Silence stretched between you.
Then he snorted. “I should’ve known you’d end up in some fucked-up shit like this.”
You crossed your arms. “Takes one to know one.”
He huffed a laugh, but there was something behind it. Something tight. Something that made your chest ache.
“How bad?” you asked, voice quieter.
His jaw tensed. “Bad.”
You nodded.
He nodded back.
You didn’t need to say more.
Because he knew what you were asking. And you knew what he wasn’t saying.
And when the sirens blared, when you were herded outside for the first game, when the blood started spilling and the bodies started dropping, you froze.
Gunshots rang out. Bodies collapsed. Screams filled the air, and yet you just stood there, frozen.
You weren’t scared. No, fear would mean you actually cared about living. You simply didn’t see the point. What was the point?
You stood there, staring at the massive doll, blinking slowly as the words “Green Light” echoed in the cold air.
Around you, people were rushing forward, sprinting, their eyes wide with desperation. The tension was palpable, the sound of rapid heartbeats almost deafening as they tried to make it to the end before the next “Red Light.”
You weren’t scared. You weren’t anything. Just numb.
You could hear it—the gasps of fear, the thud of bodies hitting the ground, and then—gunshots.
Someone screamed.
But still, you didn’t move.
The moment it hit you, like a wave crashing over a brittle shore, was that you weren’t just standing still because you were numb. You were standing still because it didn’t matter. If you died here, it wouldn’t matter. If you made it out, what would it change?
Nothing. Everything was pointless.
And that’s when you felt it—Thanos’s hand, strong and relentless, grabbing your wrist, yanking you forward.
“The fuck are you doing?” His voice was a low hiss, filled with fury, but his grip on you didn’t loosen.
Your feet stumbled as you were dragged, fighting for balance. Your mind was foggy, distant, numb to the fear that gripped everyone else. The bloodshed, the screams, the flashing lights—it was like you were standing outside of it all, watching it happen to someone else.
“Move!” Thanos barked, his fingers digging into your skin.
You tried to jerk away, feeling the weight of his grip only tightening.
“I—” You blinked, but your voice felt hollow. “I don’t care.”
The next whistle blew.
Your body jerked with the momentum of his tug, and for a moment, you didn’t feel the ground under your feet. Thanos’s arm wrapped around your waist, lifting you, pulling you through the crowd of bodies that were tumbling and falling like leaves in a storm.
Gunshots rang out in the background. You could see it now—people, falling. Bodies collapsing like ragdolls.
But you didn’t care.
“You wanna die?” Thanos’s voice was harsh, just an inch from your ear, filled with raw anger.
You blinked slowly. “I don’t care,” you repeated, though the words felt strange in your mouth. Almost like a lie you’d told yourself for so long that you’d forgotten what it really meant.
Thanos’s grip tightened. He wasn’t listening, not to your words. He wasn’t letting you slip into that void again. His eyes were wide, jaw clenched, the muscle in his neck pulsing with barely contained frustration. The whistle blew again.
“Shut the fuck up,” he muttered, lifting you off your feet entirely now, dragging you forward like you weighed nothing.
He didn’t give you a choice. He didn’t care that you didn’t care. He was going to keep you alive, even if it meant forcing you to fight against the numbness that consumed you.
By the time the countdown ended, you were nearly at the finish line. Your heart thudded in your chest—not from fear, not from adrenaline, but because of the strange, foreign sensation of being pulled back from the edge.
Thanos pushed you across the line. He was breathless, chest heaving from the physical strain of pulling you. His grip on your waist loosened only when the game ended, and the crowd’s screams faded.
When it was over, when the air cleared, you leaned back against the cold wall, your body sliding down to the ground, exhaustion settling in.
Thanos stood there, staring at you, chest heaving in rhythm with yours. His eyes narrowed with something dangerous, something you hadn’t seen before. Something deeper than anger.
“You’re fucking crazy,” he spat, but it lacked the usual humor.
You didn’t answer. You just sat there, staring at the floor. The adrenaline was leaving your system, and all you had left was the heaviness of everything—the gunshots, the blood, the screams.
“I don’t care,” you whispered, almost to yourself.
Thanos crouched in front of you, eyes intense, searching your face for something he didn’t know how to find. Something that he needed to fix.
“No,” he snapped, his hand reaching out to grip your chin, forcing you to look at him. “We’re not doing this. Not anymore.”
His fingers dug into your skin, the intensity in his gaze so powerful that you couldn’t look away, even though part of you wanted to. His voice softened, but there was no less fire in it. “I won’t let you throw yourself away.”
Your chest tightened. Something deep inside of you stirred, but it was fleeting. You felt vulnerable, stripped bare in front of him.
“I won’t let you die,” he muttered, more to himself than to you, his thumb gently brushing over your skin like it could erase everything you were running from.
You felt the ache in your chest then, the crack that began to form from the pressure of his words. The weight of his care.
And for a second, just a second, it felt like you were actually seen.
—
The next day when the guards announced the next game, you didn’t bother to move. You just sat there, your arms resting on your knees, watching the other players scramble to form teams, trying to sort out the chaos of who was going to be their partner. You could hear the shuffling of feet, the anxious whispers, the desperation in every movement. But none of it touched you. You were past it.
“Get up.”
Thanos’s voice cut through the haze of indifference surrounding you. He was standing over you, his arms crossed, his eyes narrowed.
You didn’t respond right away. Instead, you tilted your head back, staring at the high ceiling above, your mind drifting. He could wait.
“I’m not asking, sweetheart.” His voice was firm now, sharp like a warning. “Get up.”
You sighed, the weight of the world pressing on your chest. This wasn’t even the worst of it. You glanced at him briefly, and for a second, something flickered in your chest—a feeling, a pulse of something that made you almost want to smile. Almost.
You dragged yourself up from the floor with exaggerated slowness, not bothering to hide the way your limbs felt heavy, as if your body didn’t belong to you anymore. The sound of the other players forming teams, their voices blending into the background, became distant.
Thanos didn’t wait for you to make a move. His hand shot out, grabbing your wrist, pulling you with him toward the group that was gathering to select their partners.
“You’re with me,” he said, without asking, without giving you any say in it. His words weren’t a request—they were a demand.
You raised an eyebrow, raising your free hand to smooth your hair back. “Thanos, you need five people, not just one. Go find your three others.”
He didn’t even look at you as he grunted. “Get up. We’re doing this.”
You weren’t sure why it annoyed you. Maybe it was the way he thought he could just make decisions for you like that, or maybe it was the fact that you didn’t want to give a shit about anything anymore. But instead of arguing, you flopped back against the wall, letting out a deep sigh. “You’re so bossy.”
“I swear, if you don’t—”
“You’ll what?” you asked lazily, watching the other players scramble like rats. “Let me die?”
He stared at you, jaw clenched, clearly fighting the urge to snap at you. You saw the anger flaring in his eyes, the protective instinct swirling beneath the surface. But he said nothing. He didn’t yell at you. He just turned and walked away, a look of frustration flashing across his face.
It was strange. Normally, you’d see that and feel some sick satisfaction. But today, it left you empty, like the familiar edge of tension between you and him had dulled.
After a few moments, he came back. You didn’t look up from where you were sprawled on the floor, your legs stretched out in front of you.
Thanos took the spot next to you. He didn’t say anything. He just sat there, silent, his eyes scanning the group. You could tell he was waiting for you to make a move, to show some sign that you were still capable of caring about something.
But you didn’t. You didn’t move.
And maybe that was why, when he spoke again, his voice was softer, quieter. “Come on. We’ve got to find one more person.”
You didn’t answer him. You just kept staring ahead, your eyes unfocused.
Thanos cursed under his breath. “Fine. Stay here. I don’t give a shit. But we’re playing this fucking game.”
When you didn’t react, he stood up, dragging a reluctant Nam-Gyu over to form the rest of the team. You could hear them talking quietly for a moment, but it barely registered in your head.
You hadn’t realized how much it hurt, how much the detachment had taken a toll on you, until you felt him next to you again, the weight of his presence a reminder that something—someone—still cared.
It was just a fleeting moment, but it stung.
“You with me or what?”
You finally looked up at him. The frustration in his eyes hadn’t faded, but there was something else there, something deeper, almost like he was begging you to show up.
You stood without a word, dusting yourself off as you followed him to the designated area.
Thanos didn’t say anything else as the game began. He just watched you, his eyes never leaving you as you moved through the tasks. His hands were steady, precise, but every time you stumbled, he was there to catch you. His grip on your arm was always firm, as if he were trying to anchor you to this world, to this moment where you were still alive.
Every time you fell behind, he didn’t yell. He didn’t berate you. He just pulled you up and kept you going.
And for the first time in a long while, you didn’t feel like you were fighting the game. You weren’t fighting him either.
You were fighting with him.
And as the game stretched on, the realization hit you: this wasn’t just about survival anymore. Thanos wasn’t just keeping you alive because of some unspoken duty or because he had no other choice.
He was doing it because he wanted to.
You couldn’t quite understand it, but you didn’t mind it. Not anymore.
—
The next game felt like a cruel joke.
You stood at the edge of the group, your mind numb to the urgency that seemed to swallow the others whole. The guards had explained the rules—nothing complicated, just survival—yet your body remained unmoving, despite the chaos unfolding around you.
Most of the players immediately scrambled, eyes wide, feet shuffling as they sought safety. You could hear the hurried breaths of your fellow players, the scrape of shoes against the concrete floor, the soft sounds of bodies rushing and tumbling in all directions. Yet, you just… didn’t care.
Everyone else seemed like they were fighting for their lives, but you?
You were waiting for it all to end.
And then, just like that, you felt the heat of a body next to yours. His scent—leather, sweat, something familiar—struck you before you even saw him.
“Nope,” Thanos muttered under his breath as his hand shot out, grabbing your wrist before you could even process what was happening.
You blinked, the numbness in your mind finally starting to fade as he yanked you toward him, pulling you into his space like he’d done countless times before. “Not today,” he said firmly, his voice low with that undercurrent of protectiveness that you had come to know so well.
You didn’t fight him. Not this time. His grip was strong, secure, and for once, you allowed yourself to lean into it. You didn’t want to make the effort to run or find a spot of safety. So you didn’t.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you muttered, looking up at him, your voice quieter than you intended.
Thanos glanced down at you, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Yes, I fucking did,” he replied, his tone hard, his grip never faltering.
You stayed quiet as he pulled you into an empty room, positioning you closer to the wall, where the guards couldn’t reach as easily if for some reason they decided to kill you. But it was more than that—he was keeping you close, making sure no one else could get too near, too close.
You hated how much it comforted you.
The minutes ticked by, the guards’ voices harsh in the background, and still, you stood there, pressed against him. His body was warm, solid, like a shield. You didn’t think about how strange it felt to have him act like this—to be the one protecting you. No, you just let him, because for once, it felt like you had a reason to stay.
You weren’t sure how much time passed, but it was enough for the panic to begin to settle. Enough for you to breathe again. You weren’t entirely safe, not yet. But for the first time in days, you weren’t just surviving; you were simply existing.
And it felt like an eternity before the sirens sounded, signaling the end of the game. The crowd around you began to move, restless and relieved.
Thanos released his hold on you just slightly, but he didn’t step away. His fingers lingered for a moment before dropping to his side.
“Think you can make it on your own?” His voice was quieter now, laced with something you couldn’t quite place.
You blinked, suddenly aware of how close the two of you still were, the heat between you both suddenly charging the air in a way that made your chest tighten.
“Maybe,” you muttered, looking away. “But you’re not exactly a bad guy to have around.”
Thanos snorted, a dark humor creeping into his voice. “Don’t get used to it.”
But you could feel his eyes on you, and despite everything—despite the absurdity of it all—you felt something inside shift. The games weren’t over, but something between you and Thanos had already changed.
And you weren’t sure if you could go back.
—
That night, Thanos snapped.
“I can’t keep babysitting you,” he growled, pacing in front of you.
You sat on the floor, arms wrapped around your knees, staring ahead blankly. “I never asked you to.”
He let out a bitter laugh. “Yeah? Then what, I should’ve let you fucking die?”
You didn’t answer.
That only pissed him off more.
“You act like nothing matters. Like you don’t give a shit if you live or die. But guess what, sweetheart?” He crouched in front of you, gripping your chin, forcing your eyes on him.
“I give a shit.”
Your breath caught.
He shook his head. “I don’t know what the fuck happened to you. I don’t know why you’re like this. But you do not get to throw yourself away.” His voice dropped lower. “Not when I—”
His grip faltered. His expression twisted.
Not when I care about you.
The words never came, but you felt them.
Something deep inside you cracked.
You swallowed hard. Your throat burned. Your chest ached. The weight of his words, of everything you’d been avoiding, came crashing down on you all at once.
For the first time in days, you felt something.
And you weren’t sure if that terrified you more than the games themselves.
But one thing was clear.
For Thanos, you’d try.
Even if you didn’t know how.
Something had changed.
It was subtle, but it was there.
Thanos didn’t say anything after that night—no more lectures, no more scolding. He just sat with you in the dark, his shoulder pressed against yours, and let the silence stretch between you.
But you could feel it. The weight of his words. The rawness in his voice when he said, I give a shit.
And maybe, just maybe, you had started to give a shit too.
Because the next morning, when the guards announced the next game, you didn’t drag your feet. You stood up. You followed. You let Thanos find you in the crowd without him having to pull you by the wrist.
You saw the way he looked at you—like he noticed the change, like he was waiting for you to slip back into that numb, hollow state again.
You didn’t.
Not yet.

i like the way you love me | ldh
nonidol!haechan x nonidol!reader again- something no one asked for yayyyyy ftl, literally just fluff like nothing but happiness oops! there's only one joke about being like- deathly ill but i figured i'd warn you in advance wc:~ 2.5k
all plans you had about “going out on the town” with haechan were dashed as soon as you walked into his apartment. you could tell he was in the middle of gaming when you let yourself in with the spare key he hid “so well” under the mat that you bought him as a housewarming gift. walking through the door and placing your shoes neatly against the wall amidst the array of sneakers and grandpa sandals thrown around the entrance, you absentmindedly noted that the boundaries between you and haechan were almost nonexistent. it had been that way since you met in middle school, when he was baby faced and wild. back then he didn’t know the insinuations of sharing a drink with two straws or passing notes littered with hearts and stars just to say “hi.” now, his face had begun to sharpen, cheekbones more prominent and a jawline that defined his matured appearance. he was still wild, but his energy and teasing were tempered, and he had figured out how to sense when enough was enough.
affection between the two of you was not uncommon nor was it uncomfortable. in fact, haechan was the person you felt the most comfortable with out of your friends- even those you had known as long as him. you moved in sync, matched each other’s preferences and both equally gave each other the push or pull the other needed. he was your “person” as they say, and you sometimes told him this when you were drunk- or sometimes even just on a late-night phone call, falling asleep after your confession. you meant it platonically of course, but these days you couldn’t tell if there was more to your own words…
you heard him before you saw him, which snapped you out of your thoughts. he was talking to whoever he was playing with through his headphones, but you figured it was jaemin given the sassy (and borderline offensive) comments that were thrown out but you all knew there was no real strength behind them.
the bedroom door was already open as you welcomed yourself in. as usual, even though it was midday the only light was coming from a floor lamp -another gift from you so he didn’t live in dungeon-like conditions- in the corner of the room. clearly, he did not notice you because when you poked his shoulder to announce your entrance he yelped and could’ve easily punched you in the stomach if you hadn’t been used to these reactions and jumped backwards with a smile.
“god, y/n! seriously i could’ve killed you! oh my f- sorry guys i’m sorry.’
he quickly got distracted again trying to resume his place in his game while you tugged on the strands of his bangs sticking out from his headphones.
“my bad, i knew that if i waited for you to respond to my text i would’ve been standing outside for four hours.” you took a pause as you twirled his hair between your fingers. “also, i think you need a haircut. you should let me do it.” you teased, knowing 50% of his concentration was not even on you anyways.
he swatted your hands away and huffed, still furiously clicking his keyboard.
“i thought you liked it long. or do you just want an excuse to touch my hair?” he replied, his smirk turning into a frown when you lightly pulled his dark strands again.
“i do like it, but how do you even see?” not waiting for his response, you flopped onto his bed which was- unsurprisingly- half-made but still smelled clean and slightly like his perfume. putting a pillow over your head, you closed your eyes, humming when he talked just loud enough to let you know when the match was over you guys could figure out what to do.
at some point, even despite his constant clicking and talking, you nearly fell asleep. nearly, until you felt something hitting the pillow that was actually, nearly suffocating you, still over your face. you blindly reached above you trying to catch the hands that were attacking you, glaring at a grinning haechan when you threw the pillow across the bed.
“come on y/n it’s like 2 pm this is no time to be falling asleep.”
“ok mister ‘i’d-lay-in-bed-all-day-if-i-could.’” you said, rolling your eyes.
“yeah but not when i have my lovely dearest bestest friend waiting to have fun with me~”
it was a bit odd how the term “best friend” had been bothering you lately. there was absolutely no reason to consider yourself more than that, but the more horrific probable possible cause was that you wanted more. in the 10+ years you had been friends with him, there had been no romantic feelings. you didn’t think he was unattractive by any means, and you always got along- never having a disagreement that lasted longer than 20 minutes. but you both dated other people, and never had any sort of tension or yearning that you could remember. that was until about six months ago, when you started noticing how pretty he looked when the sun started to go down, or the way his lips moved and pouted, glossing when he ran his tongue over them. it was getting kind of freaky at this point, and you tried to ignore these newfound “noticings” about your best friend.
pulling you out of your reverie, you realized you had been staring at him for about three seconds without speaking which was three seconds too long as he raised one eyebrow, maneuvering his hands back over yours, tugging on them to prompt you to get up.
“i know i’m gorgeous, but it is tiimeee to get uppp come onnn.”
he dragged out the words in singsong as your hands started to get clammy being this close to him.
this was getting to be absolutely ridiculous you thought. he was in a loose black tee shirt and basketball shorts that were a size too big, and he still looked too good.
he finally pulled you into a sitting position but held in his breath when you let go of his hands and wrapped your arms around his middle, gripping the fabric of his shirt. he tentatively draped one arm over your shoulder onto your upper back and placed the other one on the back of your head, slightly petting your hair.
“what’s gotten into you hm? you’re not usually this cuddly... are you terminal or something? please don’t tell me you’re terminal.”
your response was slightly muffled when you turned your head, so your lips were slightly pressed into his side. even you had no idea what you were doing. this was probably wildly inappropriate, but you were close enough you could play it off…most likely.
“don’t be ridiculous, i’m not sick. im just tired… or …something.”
“or something?” he almost sounded disappointed, which was concerning but also made you feel better that you both seemed to be dancing around something. he pulled the back of your hair to get you to look at him and you complied. you rested your chin on his stomach, enjoying the way he smelled just like he always does and how warm he was, his hand still resting on your shoulder blade.
for once, he was speechless, his hand stilling in your hair. luckily (for both of you) he regained his composure, blinking rapidly and clearing his throat, trying to change the subject.
“well, either way, what did you want to do today? i know i said we should go out but now i kinda wanna… stay in… i guess…” he trailed off noticing how your eyelashes brushed against the tops of your cheeks as you sleepily blinked up at him. suddenly the air became thick, waking you right up, your heartbeat picking up against your chest. he looked at you intently, like he was scanning your face for whatever you were thinking to be spelled out for him.
“y/n…”
this was bad. it’s like you were drunk, dizzy and face flushed, your skin was tingling but also numb everywhere you could feel him. you had a feeling where this was going and though it scared the hell out of you, you also wanted him badly. more than anyone you ever have before and certainly more than you ever thought you would feel towards him.
you could only hum in response as he trailed both of his hands to the back of your neck.
“do you think we’re changing too or is it just me?”
his question caught you off guard and you wished he’d do pretty much anything else (mainly, kiss you) than continue this vulnerable conversation. but he was still looking at you, with eyes that were more earnest than usual, and you knew this was a time he needed sincerity and honesty from you.
“changing…” you repeated his term thoughtfully before finishing your sentence. “well um… yes. i mean- i think about you differently than i ever have and i…” you were almost too embarrassed to continue, but his eyes still staring into yours and shining with the fondness he always had for you, you felt you owed it to him to let him know how you felt- even if he didn’t reciprocate. “the thought of you with anyone else scares me. i want to be able do…this” you said tugging his shirt to emphasize your intimate position, “all the time, not as friends. i don’t want to just be your friend.” he still wasn’t speaking which made you nervous and continue to ramble when you probably, most definitely should not have. “lately i don’t want to be away from you, and i… want to be yours…if that’s ok and you feel the same obviously… i mean i hope you would-“
he cut you off with a whisper of your name. to which you replied with a meek “yes?” your voice cracking a bit from nerves, not expecting to say all of…whatever that was. you shocked even yourself with everything you admitted to him.
“do you not know how i feel about you-or have felt about you? it’s been like three years.” though his words were loaded, he was still smiling down at you. then you realized he said three years.
“you’re kidding.” was all you could manage, deadpan, as he started to chuckle, rubbing the tips of your ears between his fingers.
“mmm i’m not~ thank you for meeting me in the middle i knew you would.”
you poked his side at that and narrowed your eyes, making him laugh more. “well don’t sound so smug, or i’ll take it back.”
“you couldn’t even if you tried~ i’m irresistible.” he didn’t even give you a chance to roll your eyes as he lifted you up under your arms to stand in front of him.
looking up at his face, you tried to keep your voice steady.
“we’re very close right now…”
he looked down at your lips and leaned in, just close enough to where you could feel his breath hit your nose.
“yes we are. is this ok?” his breathing was even but his pulse was not, you could feel it fluttering against your chest at the same beat as your own heart. he leaned in more as you nodded and closed your eyes as you waited for his lips to finally meet yours. his hands reached down to grab your hips and he grinned against your mouth when you put your hands over his, slightly pushing your fingers in between the gaps of his own. after what seemed like eons, he kissed you, inhaling deeply and gripping your waist just a bit tighter. not wanting to overwhelm you by slipping his tongue in like he wanted, he opted begrudgingly to pull away and kiss the corner of your mouth, squeezing your side and kissing your cheek next when he heard you whine and felt your hands climbing up his stomach to his shoulders then the nape of his neck to pull his mouth back on yours.
indulging in you again because – when has he ever said no to you- he gave you one, two, three more kisses, each louder and wetter than the last until kissing your nose and pulling away.
“hey, we still never figured out what we wanted to do today. i haven’t even taken you on a date yet.” he said thoughtfully.
“we can date tomorrow, can’t we just stay in and do this all day? we can watch a movie later… i guess…”
he gave a real laugh at his and pet the top of your hair noticing your frown at the thought of parting from him.
“you’re so cute like this, ohh what am i gonna do? but ok, you win. i wanted to stay in too. and now,” he started with his signature mischievous look, “i get to have you all to myself~ and do this- “he slightly lifted you again and pretty much tossed you on the bed earning a yelp as he climbed into his side, lifting up the blanket to encourage you to slip underneath with him. cuddling was nothing new but with this newfound stage in your dynamic it seemed a bit daunting now.
“come on, i won’t bite-unless you want me to” he said wiggling his eyebrows, grinning when you lightly smacked his thigh before lying next to him. immediately throwing your arm around his middle and slipping your ankle between his, you adjusted your position and watched as he reached over onto his bedside table to grab his laptop. he set it on his lap and typed in his password with one hand while the other arm was around your shoulder, securing you to him. he pressed his face into your hair and kissed you there before dramatically sniffing.
“baby… i think you need a shower…”
you gasped at his audacity (but mostly the pet name) and tried to get up from his iron grip threatening to go home as he laughed at you even more, relenting,
“i’m just kidding baby. ohhh my baby~ you actually smell great is it that perfume i got you?”
“yes…” you grumbled with hot cheeks, “i wear it every day.”
quieting down to look at you so tenderly, before he could say anything you spoke again,
“weird how we kind of skipped all the normal steps huh.”
he hummed and threaded his fingers through your hair.
“did we need the steps? we’ve known each other forever and everyone already acts like we’re together. actually, we wouldn’t even have to say anything to anyone. i could probably makeout with you at the next group dinner and no one would care. wow that’s actually a great idea we should do that.”
“we absolutely should not? you’re crazy.”
“yeah, crazy for youuu~” before you could cringe at such a cliché line, he poked your shoulder and said with a faux stern tone, “hey, kiss me again.”
“now who’s obsessed?” you said, but still embarrassingly quickly lifted up from his grasp to lean over his face. he looked up at you with a slightly devious expression which did not match how carefully he moved your hair out of your face as you met him in the middle making him sigh into your mouth, breathing you in. he pulled away and pressed his head against the pillows to look at you better.
“me. i’m obsessed. i am completely obsessed with you, always have been. i’ll tattoo it on my neck and hands and update every social media letting everyone know how much i-“
“okay! i get it. but just know i feel the same… times 1000.” you interrupted him, becoming more bashful with each word. thankfully, he spared you, pulling you down to lay all your weight on top of him with your face in his neck and lightly rubbing your back.
“what should we watch? wait i have an idea-“
“not the kissing booth.” you managed to muffle against the skin of his neck. sick of that movie he made you watch at least once a month. but he could feel your eyelashes closing against his skin.
“you’re so mean. and you know what? i don’t even think you want to watch a movie you’re already drooling on my shoulder.” when he got no response from you, he got nervous he had actually offended you until he felt your soft, even exhales on his collarbones. realizing you actually fell asleep, he smiled to himself and continued to play with your hair. he was so content finally being able to have you this way it didn’t take him long to close his eyes and meet you in your dreams.

“Man,I hate Highschool”

Summary:what happens when you almost overhear Billys and Stu’s plan without even knowing much of them?
Basically just a one shot l to school with Billy and Stu head cannons before you guys knew of one each other

‘What the fuck’
Were the first 3 words I could think of My fucking team is such ass! There’s no way I’m one of the last 4 standing in doge ball on my team
‘I swear if one more shitty thing happens to me today I will start tweaking’
Right when I thought that a doge ball comes flying full speed at me hitting me straight in the head knocking me down
Then out of no where 2 more balls hit me
“What the fuck!”
I yelled at Steve glaring at him as my ass was still on the floor gripping my head as I see his dumb ass grinning
“My bad ___” he yells back while chuckling a bit
Our coach then blew his whistle
Yeah no I need to leave
I got up walking towards the exit
“Hey! where you going?” I heard Randy ask as I left him standing on my team
“I need water” I said while opening the exit door
“Wait!don’t Lea-“ Randy says getting cut off as a doge ball smacks him and the exit door shuts
I sighed and groaned as I made my way towards the bathrooms to the water fountain
When I catch a glimpse of two figures standing there
A very tall figure then a shorter figure
They looked suspicious
The shorter dude looks a bit furious and the taller one doesn’t seem to be taking him too serious
“Stop dicking around Stu! You’re genuinely going to be next to be gutted if you don’t shut up”
the shorter boy said aggressively to the taller dude
I slowly started second guessing if I should go back to gym or get my drink…
Actually no I’m not going back tho that shit
I started filling up my water bottle causing both the guys to break there neck
They just kinda stared with a strange demeanor
‘weird…anyways…” I thought
I continued to fill up my water bottle
But I still felt their eyes on me
I broke my neck and looked at them back
“Uh…hey?” I said Not knowing what they wanted
The shorter boy continued to glare at me
“hey” he said very monotone
As the taller giggled
“Woah what happened to your forehead?” He asked as he came up to me placing his hand on top of my forehead
“Huh?” I asked as I looked at the bathroom mirror
“Fucking bitch!” I said angrily looking at the huge bruise forming on my forehead
“So what happened?” The tall guy asked
“Steve fucking Orth threw a dodgeball straight right at my head then he decided to throw two more balls at me” I said irritated
“I hate him..” I grumbled as I looked at the disgusting bruise forming
The tall guy continued to chuckle as the shorter dude raised his eyebrow
“Hey I think I know you.Don’t you hang out with Randys geek self ?” The tall dude asked in a snarky tone
“God no” I said chuckling
“He just calls me to take over his shifts at work or make some lame ass excuse to why he can’t come to work” I said
“Aren’t you Guys his friends?” I asked them causing the shorter boy to snicker as the tall boy made a weird noise
“Kinda I guess. What’s your name?” He asked leaning over me
“My name is ____ and I’m guessing yours is Stu the dude that’s going to be gutted by him” I said smirking while pointing at the shorter boy
Causing Stu to chuckle and the shorter boy to shift his stance
“Yeah billy boy is always being so mean to me” Stu said teasingly while flicking Billy’s nose
“No you’re just irritating” Billy said while punching Stu’s side pretty harshly causing Stu to groan which made me giggle
Stu stared at me for a second before chuckling
“Hey you like scary movies?” He asked
I shrugged “I mean yeah I’d say so but I’m not a horror geek like Randy” I said chuckling
Stu chuckled “you should definitely let us borrow some movies and come over some time don’t you say”
I was a bit surprised
I smiled though nodding my head
“Why not” I said Shrugging
That’s when we heard Randy’s voice
“There you are! I can’t believe you left me!” Randy said
I groaned rolling my eyes
“I told you I was needed water don’t you listen!” I said to Randy as he came up to me with sweat dripping down his forehead
“Yeah don’t you listen Randy?” Stu teased
“Oh shut up Stu” Randy said grabbing my water bottle and chugging my water
“Hey!” I said smacking his head
“C’mon coach wants us to do laps before lunch” Randy said as I groaned once more as we started awkwardly running back to the gym
I turned back to look at Stu and Billy as they started walking away from the water fountain
Little did I know they looked back twice
“What were you doing talking to leather face and his goon?” Randy asked me

“Do you think she heard?” Stu asked Billy
“If she heard me threating to gut you I’m not sure what else she could of heard..let just keep an eye on her for now..” Billy said low
You weren’t leaving there sight any time soon

Shii you finna be one of their victim?🤨

gojo satoru x fem!reader
summary: you and megumi discuss how terrible satoru is
warnings: little spat between gojo and megumi, reader is the only sane one, lil fluff, and pining ofc
last part | next part
*
year three.
you're used to the door slamming open every day when they get home--and you've given up on scolding all of your family members about it--but what you're not used to is megumi storming through the door, his aura a dark and stormy color as he walks by you, not even bothering to look your way, and slamming the door to his room. all within a good three seconds.
and, okay. you blink, trying to comprehend him, or what just happened.
satoru comes in next, slower, more peaceful, shutting the front door softly like it'll make up for megumi's actions. for whatever he probably did.
you immediately turn towards him, frowning. "what'd you do?"
"why did i have to do something?" satoru asks, scoffing. "the kid is a glorified teenager. or an old man. he's moody."
"yeah, but he didn't even say hi to me," you cross your arms, trying to analyze his body language and the twitch of his lips.
satoru waves a hand at you. "join the club."
"seriously. is he okay?"
satoru kicks at the floor, mumbling something indecipherable under his breath.
"satoru."
he looks up, almost pouting.
"what happened?"
"i was just teasing him--" he's already pleading for mercy, taking a step towards you with his arms out. "i didn't even say anything bad. i just said something about his attitude, and he told me to leave him alone, and i... i didn't do anything!" he swears.
and you both know that he's lying. you sigh, shaking your head at him.
"did you listen when he told you to stop?"
"no," satoru says, with a fake smile.
"then you did something," you take a step away from him, watching as he slides off his jacket, then his glasses. "what were you teasing him about?"
"he was telling me about some kids at school. i guess they're scared of him, or something."
you raise a brow.
his hand gestures to megumi's room, helplessly. "you know him and i like to mess with each other, i didn't think that he would... get upset."
you almost laugh, because he looks so guilty, unknowing, and childish. and you can tell--by a mere glance--that satoru feels bad, and doesn't want to admit that.
you snort, still shaking your head. this man is the sole cause of all of your problems. "okay, well you should apologize to him, and listen when he asks you to do something--"
"no."
"excuse me?"
"will you talk to him instead?" he pleads, tilting his head at you. "you're so much better with him, and he'll listen to you."
"satoru," you frown. "i didn't do anything. megumi doesn't need an apology from me."
"but he's just going to yell at me," he whines, body flailing pathetically as he emphasizes this point. "and he's scary when he yells."
"he's nine."
satoru shakes his head.
you flick his forehead. "honestly, all you have to do is say that you were wrong. easy."
"i don't wanna say that," he mumbles, feebly, crossing his arms like a toddler.
you groan. "satoru--"
"i have to go pick up tsumiki anyway. please? just talk to him? do you really want him to sit in his room all alone and be all gloomy?"
satoru's lip twitches because he knows that he's got you there. just the idea of megumi brooding alone is enough to break you.
you scowl at him, crossing your arms with a knowing glance. "i'm going to let megumi punch you, and then i'm going to do it myself."
"we're not supposed to encourage violence."
you roll your eyes. "go get tsumiki. do not be late again. i'll see how he's feeling, but we're going to talk trash about you, just so you know."
"see? this is why i love you." satoru grins, then pecks your cheek. "okay, got to go! good luck," he says and swings himself out the door.
and honestly, how did you get stuck with him?
*
you give him a couple of minutes before you knock on the door, assuming that any space he has to cool off is probably good. but you can only wait so long.
there's a worry somewhere in your chest, the fear that you won't know how to mend the rift between the two boys. but the other part of you feels easy, simple.
kind of how you assume satoru feels about most things.
if you can't fix it, you think, he probably can.
"hey," you whisper, peeking into his room. the lights are off. "can i come in?"
megumi shrugs. he's sitting on the bed, staring at the floor, looking like a forlorn statue.
so you go in anyway, stepping over the backpack he threw on the floor and the books cascading out of it to sit next to him on his bed.
it's actually a little hard not to laugh because even though he's grumpy, megumi is so cute. his little scrunched-up eyebrows and his pout make you want to squeeze him forever. you want to coo over him, or say something inappropriate, but you refrain. because you are not satoru, and you will never be.
"how was school?" you ask, after you've settled in on his dinosaur sheets, watching him pick at something on his pants.
he shrugs again.
"wow. glowing remarks."
megumi doesn't even smirk a little.
you tilt your head, trying to meet his eyes. "do you want to talk?" you ask softly, trying so hard not to prod. even though you will.
"no."
you smile, a little. "too bad," you tell him, rolling your eyes for show, "you didn't say hello or give me my hug when you came in. talking is your punishment."
"sorry," he mumbles.
"i'll let it slide this time--only this time--okay, kid?" you give him a hard look and he nods immediately. you smile at him again, leaning up. "what happened with satoru?"
"nothing."
"unforunately for you, he's a gossip so..."
he rolls his eyes. "he was just being annoying."
"naturally. did he make you mad?"
megumi nods.
"did you tell him that?"
he shakes his head.
"okay. what'd you say when he started annoying you?"
"to stop."
"and then he didn't, so..." you hint, nudging him.
"i told him to leave me alone."
"what'd he say to that?"
megumi sighs. "he just said that i'm adorable when i'm mad."
because of course he would. satoru is probably the worst person in the world. the sole cultivator of everything terrible.
and, for some reason, you're kinda obsessed with him.
"yeah," you shake your head, grumbling internally. "i'd expect nothing less from him. i'm sorry he didn't listen, though."
megumi finally looks at you. "you are?"
you raise your brows. "well, yeah. if you want to be left alone, then he should leave you alone."
megumi looks at you skeptically. "you're not going to tell me that i shouldn't have gotten mad at him?"
"um," you frown. "no. you're entitled to your emotions, megs. you can feel whatever you want."
he frowns, too, but doesn't say anything. he's stuck somewhere you'll probably never reach.
but you try to meet his eyes anyway. "and satoru'll be getting a lecture from me, don't worry," megumi smiles a little at that, looking a little more like the boy you're used to. "but i just wanted to tell you that you can talk about it with me, if you want. nobody understands being angry with satoru like i do."
he looks away again. his fists clench, briefly, and he makes a sound at the back of his throat. "i just--why doesn't he leave me alone? he always teases me, even when i'm trying to be serious, or when i tell him to stop."
you nod in agreement, letting the words sit for a moment. and then you say, "i think that satoru thinks if he never takes anything seriously, then the negative emotions and all of the things he doesn't want to think about won't matter to him. or as much."
"but they do matter."
"they do. and if he's irritating you, you should tell him that."
"i try."
your lip twitches. "satoru's not the easiest person to talk to. but he's a lot like you, you know? in that way."
megumi frowns. "how?"
"you don't really like to talk about these things do you?" you ask, seriously.
megumi thinks for a moment, fingers messing with the bedsheets, and then shakes his head, slowly, like he doesn't want to admit it.
"satoru doesn't like it either. and he feels things the same way you do--very deeply, and seriously. that's why he always messes around. and why he frustrates you." you stop, thinking about how to explain this to a kid. how to explain it to yourself. "well, you know how when there's only one melon soda left and you give it to tsumiki, or when you let her pick the movie?"
megumi nods.
"that's your way of putting her first. because you love her. but it's different then the way that she loves you, right?"
"yeah. she says it, a lot," he rolls his eyes, familiar with the antics of tsumiki.
you smile. "and she gives those hugs where she tries to crack your ribs," you emphasize it by squeezing his shoulder, making him laugh.
you swallow, shrugging. "you both show your love differently. everyone does. but tsumiki isn't afraid to let anyone know that she loves them, and satoru is, i think. and you're like that."
he looks down at his lap, contemplating this. satoru might think that you understand megumi better than he does, that the two of you are easy, but you feel like you're standing on uneven ground.
everything is so clear in your head. but you can't clarify the interworkings of someone as complicated as satoru for megumi. you can barely clarify him for yourself.
"i don't know if that's the right way to put it..." you sigh. "well, i like to talk things out. like right now. i want to talk about how i feel, and why. that's how i process everything. but satoru doesn't do that. usually, he'll refuse to." you nudge megumi. "and that's okay, sometimes. but i think he's taught you to do the same, on accident."
"that's not bad, though," he mutters, frowning.
"no, not all of the time. but it also means that his emotions come out in his actions. like teasing you, or when he tries to get all of us to sleep in his room."
megumi rolls his eyes again and you laugh.
"there's no bad way to show the people that you love that you love them, but when you don't talk about things, or you try not to show those emotions, they get stuck." you poke his chest. "and then they break out, like today, and it's too many feelings all at once."
megumi nods.
"so when he's annoying you, you have to tell him. or if you need a break from him, or me, or tsumiki, you should say that."
it's advice for all of you. some secret that you don't want megumi to know about--the part of you that's lying to him. the unspoken things you don't say--emotions buried so deep beneath your surface that they'll never see the sun.
you can see the thoughts as they pass over his face, still dark, still stormy, but lighter now.
eventually, he nods, meeting your eyes. "okay."
you give him a half smirk, leaning down just a little. "but you can't be mean about it, alright? i know today was hard, and satoru was pushing you, but it's still not okay to snap at him."
megumi curls in a little. "i'm sorry."
"i'm not mad, buddy," you assure him, ruffling his hair. "and neither is satoru. we're just here to help you, you know? but you have to let us in so we can. you can depend on us, i promise. and you have to be nice, because i can't deal with another satoru."
he laughs, just a little. you rest your head on his. "i'm here if you want to talk about it," you tell him, "today, or anything else that's bothering you."
"i know."
and you feel like he does, just a little bit. he's a very smart kid, and you know that when you leave he'll think about it some more--put it into words that work for him.
honestly, most of the time his intelligence frightens you--like you'll never be able to slow him down, or make sure that you're on the same page. but at least there's some use for it.
you sit up. "good. now i'm going to leave you alone, but when satoru gets home and he apologizes, try not to yell at him?" you plead, only partly joking. "he's sensitive."
megumi scowls, but nods anyway.
you stand up, nudging his leg with your foot and then you step back over the maze of his things, turning the doorknob.
"y/n?"
you turn back, brows raised. "yeah, bud?"
"do you want to... play cards, or something?"
and finally, you laugh. just a little.
*
"how'd it go?"
"megumi said that he didn't like my haircut, and that i needed to review my wardrobe situation."
"and?"
"he's okay."
you sigh out in relief. "good," you say, looking back down at the paperwork you're supposed to be filling out. the teaching courses, and jujutsu regulations, course handbooks, and bills...
satoru sits down next to you, looking over all of the papers with a frown. "this is disgusting," he says, nudging your hand away from the pen you're lingering on.
"true."
"take a break," he hooks his leg around yours. "let's talk."
you sigh again. "we really need to get this stuff done, satoru."
he shrugs. "we'll do it tomorrow."
"you said that yesterday, too."
"and i was right..."
but you relent, and you turn so that you're sitting facing him on the couch, your legs crossed in front of you.
"hey," he whispers, softly, grinning.
"hi."
"how was your day?"
"boring. all i did was clean the house and wait for you and the kids to get home."
he leans in, eyes crinkled. "can you imagine what your life would be like without me?"
"not even a little bit. you take up all of my time."
satoru smiles, adoringly. he leans his forehead against yours.
you want to push him away, or roll your eyes, or ask him more about his talk with megumi, or if he checked on tsumiki, but you don't.
you just let a small, tired smile rest upon your lips and close your eyes.
satoru is close enough to smell. his warmth is almost mechanical, unmoving. and everything about him feels sort of unbelievable. he's so close. close enough to touch and taste, if you were that daring.
but you're not.
"you okay?" you whisper to him, feeling his breath against your cupid's bow. you refrain a shiver.
"i'm good," he says, voice soft and low. "you okay?"
"i'm good."
satoru nods against you. there's a whole minute where the two of you sit just like that, no need for words or movements.
it's nice like this, you think. with him and nothing else. you don't get a break very often nowadays--and you don't mind it, really--but sitting with him is enough to not care. who needs a break when you've got your best friend, curled against you like a vice you'll never ever touch?
and then satoru asks, "do you think i mess with megumi too much?"
"yes," you say, immediately, opening your eyes to meet his glorious blue ones. satoru is pouting, so you continue. "but he loves you anyway."
just like i do, you think, so brief there's no time to push it away in your mind.
"yeah?"
"god knows why," you say, rolling your eyes, laughing when he bends down to tickle your neck with his nose, sniffing against you like a dog.
but you do know why. and the paperwork can wait until tomorrow.

hit me hard and soft.
↳ karina/yu jimin x reader
jimin doesnt understand what about you draws her in so easily.
tags: bassist!karina, lead vocalist!reader, band au? (mentioned like once),
warnings. not proofread 😞🙏🏻, smoking mention (wasn't even relevant to the story)
wc 0.9k
leaving the venue will never be an effortless task, always consisting of a mass of journalists following close behind, cameras and microphones shoved in your faces. the flashes are bright, almost blinding. karina keeps her head low, a hand attempting to keep her freshly dyed hair from completely obstructing her face. she stands behind you, towering over your shorter figure. shouting is a constant — everyone's name yelled over the other in attempt to catch your attention.
the brunette towers over you — looking more like your bodyguard than your bandmate, and you look less like a celebrity than you should: messy mascara and lipstick smeared across your cheek; you still look decent.
jimin looks like she's just been punched.
and she just stares. not because of your unruly appearance, but because she can't just not look at you.
she swears she could feel a blush creeping onto her cheeks as she stood next to you; giselle or maybe ning would be sure to absolutely put her on blast later. the brunette gives the journalists nothing, simply brushing past the crowd with a glare. it's rushed — it's hurried. jimin finally catches up to you, keeping enough distance to atleast keep the press off of your asses. right, she thinks. the older has to pretend— pretend that she doesn't want to kiss the lipstick off your soft looking lips. god, they look soft. i wonder— stop. that's weird. shakes herself out of it, takes a deep breath and a step back. but you turn around and a small smile tugs at your lips and the blood rushes into her cheeks.
jimins fucked.
—
what does it matter that jimin would move mountains and the earth just to please you? so much for her badass persona. it’s just a façade, anyways. she started listening to your favourite artists just because you liked them; she dyed her hair back to black because you once mentioned they were your type (she was drunk out of her mind and used a box of cheap hairdye from a random store, but it still counts).
things don’t get much better when you arrive at the hotel. you’re her bandmate; you do the craziest things for each other. it’s always been karina and you, you and karina— to the point where you are both paired together for room arrangements and sit next to each other in your manager's van. fast forward to the present, it’s 2:00 am and no one’s sleeping. you're both waiting, hoping for something, anything, to happen. you’re desperate, waiting for some sort of epiphany. for one of you to acknowledge your feelings for the other. it's hopeless. the atmosphere is tense, poignant with the weight of unspoken words and pushed aside feelings.
jimin saunters out of her respective bed a little over 1:49, not completely sure if you’re awake. you’re quiet and hiding under the covers, like a child who was afraid of monsters in the dark. but karina is no monster; you’re afraid, not of her prescence, but of her realising your feelings. but the brunette pads across the wooden floor to the balcony door— she slides it open. you hear her take a seat on one of the chairs. she unlocks her phone and she sits there scrolling for a while.
you make your move. silently and drowsily, you make your way to the balcony and make your presence known. “jimin,” you say, almost mutter. the brunette looks up, a cigarette hanging from her lips, a small blue lighter held up to the paper. she hums, patting the chair next to her.
you take up the invitation and you realise that she looks cold, in only a tank top and shorts. the bassist huffs, and even in this weather it could have been mistaken for a puff of smoke. your vision is blurry, and you almost mistake her deep breaths for it.
she laughs. “you look like you have something to say.”
you stay silent— you don’t know what to say. instead, you follow karinas eyes after she turns away from you— and gaze at the LA skyline. the sheer amount of lights in the distance begin to resemble false stars, jimin notices. and then she stares back at you, and all she can think about now is how your eyes rival the lights of the city.
and also about how she would’ve liked to have a normal, domestic relationship with you, away from the cameras, away from the tabloids. but you won’t, because your lives are far from normal and domestic. and then her lips tighten into a line— and she looks away again.
a deep breath in— a deep breath out. the brunette has to ground herself. she closes her eyes. jimin isn’t brave at all— she’s anything but. but she wants— no, needs, to get this over with. the woman needs answers. another deep breath in, another out.
she doesn’t meet your eyes, but she murmurs, “i like you.”
and you have to do a double take, because it was so sudden and so random— but jimin still doesn’t see the expression on your face when you finally whisper a small, “really? i thought you were more interested in flirting with our fans more than me.” she finally looks up at you, eyes widened in relief.
“what? no! never!” jimin protests, turning to look at you as of you've grown another head. “you're stupid, then.”
and in that moment it feels like nothing has changed at all. it wasn't as if the world stopped spinning or the stars shined brighter than before, but you know in your mind that it's as if the weight of the world you knew was lifted off your shoulders. it's silent, both of you simply listening to the hum of the traffic below accompanied by the cool wind.
“aeri's so making fun of me after this.”
