SonAmy week day 6: red thread of fate dancing

I couldn't think of anything for the last two prompts so I'm using bonus themes. This started as me just thinking of them dancing with their noses touching but then I thought "that won't really show they're dancing" (it would have been a similar format as days 3 and 5) so I sketched this pose and something funny came to me... and then I decided to make it Boom!SonAmy cuz it's that show's fault I even like the ship. I made some modifications to Sonic's design tho cuz the sport tape is so excessive that I think he saw BSD Dazai's effect on women and decided to become a Walmart version of him minus the suicide and I am a firm believer his bandana should have been red. I am! In fact, I would say it's my top ship for both of them (though with Sonic this spot is shared with Sonknux, I couldn't be asked to choose between them hehe).

The only versions of them that I don't really ship is Fleetway, and Boom (more on that later).

With Fleetway, I feel like it does a very good job at doing a "What if Amy actually got over Sonic and then got into a relationship with someone else (who isn't similar to Sonic so it doesn't look like a bad rebound), and she and Sonic become even closer friends" type of scenario (Which I gotta admit, Fleetway Sonic and Amy have an amazing dynamic and they're ride or die for each other), which is also partially why I'm not interested in seeking it out just for the sake of it. (I do ship Amy with characters other than Sonic or Tekno, but that's not the reason why). I feel like it partially also raises my interest in Sonamy, like. We've already seen what happens when she gets over Sonic, let's see something else now? Right?

Some people might think it doesn't count, because Fleetway Amy is so different from regular Amy, and maybe, if you compare her to Adventure Amy. But I actually find her quite similar to the way Amy is written in IDW, they even have kind of a similar, "edgier" compared to other versions of the character, sense of humor. (Also this is me saying modern!Teknamy would totally work how are there no fics with Tekno in the game-esque universe?? (Heck there's almost no Fleetway based Teknamy fics either for how much everyone is gushing about their relationship) I can't see her working for Eggman here, but maybe she could work for GUN developing weapons for them, while also using their resources for personal projects on the side (maybe befriending Team Dark in the process), but when it gets discovered GUN tries to arrest them but Team Dark helps them get away and hide, eventually they meet Sonic & friends, including Amy. Since GUN got destroyed in Forces, Tekno is free now, maybe if you're doing an idw-based thing they could join the restoration or something. It could work! Modern!Teknamy! Think about it!)

Anyway, back to Sonamy. I don't actually remember how I started shipping them. I used to watch Sonic X a lot when I was little, but I guess the Sonamy didn't make that big of an impact on me back then, I mostly remembered Knuckles and Rouge having a thing there.

Then way later I was actively watching the Sonic Boom tv show as it was coming out, but... I didn't like Sonamy there at all. It's not their relationship on its own, but everyone making jokes about it, "shipping" them together in-universe which made me not like it. It just felt really forced. (And the issues with Amy's portrayal in Boom are a topic for a completely different discussion)

And it's only when I properly got into games that I actually saw what their relationship is actually like!

And I'll be real... it wasn't always... great. There was some turbulence. I even believe the people who think Amy didn't even initially like Sonic, but only was infatuated with his image of a hero and the freedom & adventures that she had associated with him. She projected her fairytale fantasies combined with heteronormative societal expectations onto him and their potential relationship. (Just look at her in Adventure! She misses Sonic because she misses adventures, she thanks him for saving her because he's her hero but he actually barely did anything there! She was the hero!) No wonder Sonic wasn't on board with that! (Even though he still was always friends with Amy) Who would be! But here's the kicker:

It changed

The dynamic changed! They changed! And it's always fun. I can't hate the way Tails is written on Colors–Frontiers because there's dynamic! He's going through a little character arc! (A character arc of hitting rock bottom instead of becoming his best self but an arc nonetheless. It's something interesting. And now we get to see him rise back up)

And it also shows that their dynamic is able to evolve and isn't stuck! Which means there is a possibility that it would evolve further! Isn't that just fun to think about?

Amy became more confident in herself. She realized she didn't need Sonic to go on adventures or to save her. With this, their relationship became more equal. Sonic in general became more personable and closer to his friends.

Amy is now not blinded by just seeing Sonic as "Her Hero" and is able to see him as a person that he actually is and falls in love for real! I already mentioned this before, but I think her attempt at confession in Lost World signifies that. Everyone already knows she loves him, but now, it's different.

On Sonic's end, there aren't as many changes, he's just able to be more open and comfortable around her (even though she's still able to occasionally throw him off with her over the top energy). (I also personally headcanon that Sonic didn't have a lot of experiences with romance which might have lead him to believe that the way Amy acted initially is "the standard" (which he couldn't and didn't want to match, and prevented him from realizing his feelings for a longer time. I personally headcanon him as demiro which is probably why my top ships with his are with his two closest friends)

Ultimately, their dynamic on its own is fun, too. They're a kickass team and they have a similar sense of humor, which is fun and I wish we got to see them banter more. They also have a similar fascination with adventures and love for nature and the world. Sonic doesn't need to slow down for Amy because she loves him as he is, and Amy doesn't need to give up her projects to be by Sonic's side because he's always supportive and encouraging of her!

They just have a very cozy friendship nowadays, especially when you remember everything that happened before we got there! But that's what makes it so good. The history they have, the work they put into their relationship, no soulmate "love from first sight" can match that. (Though of course they're also now canonically soulmates too because of Frontiers but they're also soulmates with Tails and Knuckles so it's not like that)

Modern Amy does have the flanderizations unlike Classic and Boom, but THIS Amy had most of the best moments too. Here’s what Modern has canonically under her belt:

SA1 she saw the bigger picture involving Gamma, she pointed out that love isn’t part of robot’s’ programming and they’re missing something good.

Also in SA1 she stepped up to Sonic from destroying Gamma; stepping up to your crush especially when you haven’t won their heart yet is harder than we think. When liking someone it’s normal to try being on the best terms with them. If they’re doing something that rubs you the wrong way that could taint those terms. (Ofc it’s the right thing to step up regardless)

Her moment with Shadow from SA2. It has been discussed many times why it’s so good but I’ll at least put down this: Amy KNOWS there’s shitty people and bad things but she also sympathizes for others and decides to see the good anyway. It’s waaaay easier to fall into negativity and despair when things get bad. This moment is somewhat similar to the story Pandora’s Box when all the bad stuff flew out but one thing within that seems so tiny but is powerful which was hope. Deciding to see the good is like that hope.

Heroes has been seen as this as one of Amy’s more infamous portrayals but really? Was her crush for Sonic executed the best? Depends on the person, but not the worst. Still, she stayed with her team until they reached their goal. Sure she knew doing that will lead her to Sonic but once again, it’s not bad. Why isn’t anyone complaining about the fact the Chaotix, Rouge, Sonic, Shadow were picking fights too? WTFH…

In Battle, another portrayal and one I actually think isn’t so good, or part of it. (Girl, starving yourself thinking Sonic will like you if you’re skinny? Really? If Sonic has issues then that’s his issue not yours!) However, she helped Emerl with his skills. She was pretty much like everyone else but yet none of them get pointed out for their portrayals.

Riders is sorta known for the bad portrayal between her and Sonic but really it wasn’t bad (the voice direction like tone of voice was different between the English and Japanese, the ladder being more accurate to the characters) until the very end of Heroes story which was when Sonic blew her away along with Eggman. Can’t we be in her shoes for a moment? If someone, one of your friends SonAmy or not they are friends didn’t consider your safety especially like THAT would you be happy? Don’t think so. It’s valid to be pissed. Ofc you should point it out.

06 might’ve been (technically) erased but it still shows Amy’s positive side. If it were to happen again and not be erased there’s little to no doubt that Amy would do the same thing. Like in SA1 she saw the bigger picture by putting aside her crush for Sonic and saving the world. One of things it highlighted was her loyalty. This did show in Heroes too, if she wasn’t loyal she would’ve ditched Cream and Big. People can say all they want about Amy choosing Sonic over the world; the other option is to BETRAY her friend who she’s known for a long time and be like, “Hey, Sonic, my friend who I just met Silver who says you’ll destroy the world so I’m siding with him.” THAT would be bad. (Though in Silver’s defense it was from a valid sense and didn’t know who Sonic was but that’s not the focus right now. Amy is brave for stepping up to Silver who clearly outclassed her in skills) Can we also point out that Rouge and Omega did the same thing yet nobody complained about that? Even if it was worded differently, there’s still a sense of hypocrisy.

Rush had Amy tell Blaze, who was very closed off, about the idea that having friends is truly uplifting. Heck Blaze was even intrigued and had a slight smile because of Amy’s upbeat vibe.

Unleashed highlighted Amy to be in no way shallow when it comes to her crush with Sonic: she states to Sonic that no matter what, he’s still her Sonic. How sweet and endearing is that? She even planned to throw a party for him. Clearly she was trying to uplift his spirit. Sonic wasn’t going through a good time, externally and internally. When all hope seemed lost she openly said that Sonic WILL succeed. Also highlighting her faith, another powerful thing. She had faith in previous games too, like having faith that Sonic will listen to her to not destroy Gamma, faith in the good of humanity in SA2, and as mentioned earlier her faith that in 06 Sonic would never destroy the world but save it.

All of the examples above are from the time era of her “obsessive” days that detractors like use to prove that she’s just a “stalker/yandere/etc”.

I will admit that things like Sonic X didn’t do her justice during that era. Though that is partly thanks to the shit English dub and SOA.

Post 2010 hasn’t really been too great but even in Lost World she told Sonic to save the world, believing there’s a chance even though she felt for sure she wasn’t going to be alive for it. She did say it was too late but it felt like she was referring to the latter, not her having a lack of faith. In Forces she was part of the Resistance. Like previous titles she did her part. Minus a few games, she was always an active participant, even in a game like the Black Knight while even it was not exactly the Amy Sonic knew, Nimue was still a counterpart. Like in the Secret Rings with Ali Babba!Tails and Sinbad!Knuckles there was a connection to Sonic’s POV. Frontiers has been pointed with its faults especially with storytelling (seriously previous games, even the most beloved ones, had this issue too) but even then the desire of Amy wanting to help, like she always has, was there.

Modern Amy has proven to be a brave, positive, uplifting, helpful, kind, and a non shallow girl who definitely cares about Sonic’s wellbeing. If having those qualities is STILL viewed as the worst portrayal of the character… 🤦🏻‍♀️

P.S.: This post sprouted from seeing comments upholding Classic Amy(from the latest news) and a few for Boom while downplaying Modern Amy. Heck someone literally commented “Classic Amy over Insamy any day.” Insamy means Insane Amy Seriously? It’s cool to see Amy getting love but some people forget that Classic Amy is a younger Modern Amy, soooooo they’re really shitting on the one they “really” like?

A little backstory: When I first saw the end credit scene for Sonic Movie 2 I felt a mix of disappointment, frustration, and concern for the outcome of the next movie. For the longest time, Amy Rose as a character has gotten the short end of the stick from both the fandom and SEGA. It has gotten better over the years (mostly SEGA and the comics), but unfortunately, this character still gets misunderstood and overlooked.

This is even worst on Twitter where some even insist that Amy isn’t important to Shadow's story and that there is no room for her character in the third movie or any future movie. This frustrated me to no end so drew up a bunch of different versions movie Amy's concepts. I now have more than 100 wips of Movie Amy on my phone.

I'm not joking. Literary two or three months after the movie I had 200 ideas about how Amy can be in the next film. As you can see I deleted most of them due to some of them being too similar to another idea I had or just being too weird.

At this point I feel like I drew these to cope with the fact that:

A) Amy might not be in the third film and pushed to the end credits or later installments.

B) Amy might be different from what I'm used to, especially since some fans keep insisting the films make her more like Boom Amy 😑.

C) I haven't seen that many movie Amy fanfic to hold me over until it's confirmed if she's in the film or not. I’ve seen more stories on Shadow (even before we got the end credit scene) and even Silver (who hasn't even been introduced to the films yet). I want more wholesome Movie Amy and Movie Sonamy stories dang it!😭 (they don't even have to be Sonamy).

Anyway, this is technically my first sonic-related digital drawing (the Surge and Lanolin drawing being my third or fourth). It's not my best but I still like it. (I'm still trying to find my style though 😞)

Infodumping about sonic ships waaaaa

Sonamy? A valid ship. Most likely to become canon (but probably won’t because sega isn’t too keen on putting sonic in a relationship in general). They both clearly have feelings for each other, and Amy’s character has improved a lot over the years so she isn’t just obsessed with sonic anymore. Boom did a lot to flesh out Amy and I’m glad that’s carried over into the games and IDW. It’s just a bit too bland for my taste tho idk.

Idk anything about Sonally tbh so I got nothing to say about it.

OMG FINALLY!!! ROSEROUGE GIRL TIME YESSSSSS let's analyze this possibility:

1. There's post i made exclusively about this two being best girlfriends and how sad it was that they don't have enough screen time together despite being the first females brought to the games and how Amy is mostly seen with Cream or Blaze despite this 2 having a hard time making appearances due to one being a little kid who lives with her mom and the other a busy princess from other dimension so... To me Rouge has more time to be with Amy.

2. I'm so hyped to see Rouge as a part of the team, i suppose is similar to Sticks case in Sonic boom needing a Second fighter female and it make sense since even though she has her own team, team dark is very exclusive to themselves and lonely wolves when it comes to Shadow and Omega and unlike them Rouge was always friendly and Social with the others in a lot of occasions (and very flirty and naughty with knuckles too cof cof) and she probably is the one who has and can get more information about Eggman.

3. Did you noticed this? I have another post very popular talking about how Amy and Knuckles are pretty much siblings and also Amy is just as a power character as Knuckles and then you can see when the 5 are posing ready to fight that knuckles and Amy are next to each other as the power characters while rouge and Tails are above them as flying characters while Sonic is the speed character. So let's agree Amy is powerful! Here unlike in Sonic X she isn't a nuisance and is taken seriously in battle as much as Rouge!! THIS IS MARVELOUS.

4. Let's agree please that Amy's little dress modification is... Rather dumb and unnecessary like is exactly the same but without the back exposed? Dude what's the matter with showing skin? Is just a pink back! 🙄🙄 It feels like they did the change because they had to change something? Those extra white rings on her shoulders that are like her white collar are tacky it doesn't suits her 🤷 but it's really a little change that could go unnoticed so is ok but her cyborg look is hideous! What's up with that eye? Also, what happened to her?? Is her whole flesh body destroyed???😱😱😱

About Rouge... I'm happy with the suit and design but after reading two different opinions i have to say something, because: one was calling us, the people who doesn't like her boobs are noticeable smaller weirdos because "rouge is more than her body" yeah sure smartass I'm also more than just my nice ass, should I flatten my butt cheeks then? 🙄🙄🙄 That leads me to the other comment about someone who is also happy with the design but hates that they reduced her boobs because she also has big boobs and Rouge make her feel confident about them... This is important! This trend about characters not allowed to have big boobs because of whatever prude reasons is so annoying! Some females have big boobs! Get over it! Stop erasing them! Also little kids usually have moms, grandmas, big sisters and aunts and female teachers and I'm sure at least one or two of them have big boobs are you going to ask them to get a reduction or cover themselves up because of the kids? Like the most of them didn't suck their mom's boobs as the first thing they did right after being born 🙄🙄. Seriously! Anyway despite her breast being flattened and covered up to her neck they managed to keep her sexy aura and style so we really Should be thankful because it could have been worse.

SEGA and the eternal issue of the Sonic-Amy dynamic

While the Bowsette phenomenon shattered the internet into a thousand pieces, it seems like the Sonic fandom is splitting itself over a completely different matter: the eternal discussion over Sonic and Amy’s dynamic, and how much it can be considered official from SEGA’s perspective.

Note: this article ended up becoming the first part of a trilogy. Stay tuned for the next two parts!

The main culprit of this new chapter of the discourse is, believe it or not, the official SEGA Shop.

Emi Jones (I don’t need to introduce her, most people in the fandom know her) brought the attention on the description of one of the new clothing pieces that appeared in the shop for Amy’s 25th birthday, which essentially invited us to “celebrate 25 years of Sonic the Hedgehog’s girlfriend”. This short sentence generated a chain reaction in the fandom, both positive and negative, and it brought to the light once again the eternal question: is it really possible that they’re actually a couple? What is the official position of SEGA about this? There are good arguments for both sides.

Eggman: If you fight my robot, we’ll be disqualified and you’ll never win that couch for that whiny little girlfriend of yours.

Sonic Boom – S1E41

First and foremost, who is Amy?

Note: the article is based on Cutegirlmayra’s research in different magazines, in the games’ canon, in the differences between Japan and the West, in the structure of the relationship, and in SEGA’s marketing.

Note 2: while there will be mentions of other medias such as comics and TV series, this article will explicitly focus on the dynamic between Sonic and Amy in their official Modern versions, that is, from the videogames.

Since her official conception in Sonic CD, Amy has simply been considered our blue hedgehog’s girlfriend without any issue, but Sonic Team looked for a way to make this common cliché a little different. So a “unique” dynamic was established between them: Amy is the one chasing Sonic, Sonic tries to avoid her explicit affection, but despite this they are destined together, both in the proper canon (according to Amy’s tarot cards the two are made for each other) and outside of it (SEGA’s directives). This means that their dynamic is written in an implicit manner, and it’s never clear if Sonic wants to flee to a different galaxy to get away from Amy or if he wants to stay with her forever. Officially, there have been signs both in favor and against it, and the rest is normally left to the interpretations of the fans. Nevertheless, SEGA of Japan and SEGA of America (with the complicity of Europe) have radically different ways of dealing with the Sonamy dynamic.

Sonamy in Japan

The relationship between Sonic and Amy, with its twists and turns, is deeply rooted into the Japanese culture of the ‘90s. According with the material found by Cutegirlmayra, Sonic and Amy are a couple in Japan, no doubt about it. This simple vision is due to how the Adventure era games were written: Sonic is much more gentle and subtle with Amy, to the point that there is a clear difference in tone in the Adventure 2 scene when Sonic, about to be sent off into space in a capsule, tells Amy to take care of herself. Japan didn’t have this vision of an openly hostile Sonic or of a totally-obsessed-to-the-point-of-violence Amy, in their culture and in the game scripts everything is much more serene and acceptable. At the same time, the situation is kept under control thanks to the mandates that SEGA strictly enforces over how to write the characters: for example, one of the most infamous ones is “Sonic can’t explicitly show affection to Amy Rose”. This kind of control allows SEGA of Japan to avoid problems like the ones in the West.

Then we have Sonic Channel, the official Japanese website for information and art, where once in a while events about Sonic and Amy take place, with fans sending their fanart of the official couple.

And finally, we can’t forget Sonic X, that, despite not being part of the official game canon, clearly shows the agenda of SEGA of Japan and Sonic Team for the two characters: dozens of scenes that imply something more, many songs about love/lovers and, well, everything about the famous Episode 52 ending.

Sonamy in the West.

In the West things became more complicated. On one hand, the West came to know Sally Acorn before Amy, and the way they presented the Sonic/Sally relationship was, without any doubt, much healthier in SatAM than, for example, Sonic/Amy in Adventure (note: I purposefully won’t mention Archie Sonic here). At the same time, the differences in translation of the original Japanese scripts, and the cultural differences between these two countries on opposite sides of the world, radically changed the personalities of both characters, giving us the infamous “hysterical fan” Amy in Adventure and Heroes, the one who chases Sonic to force him to marry her. The general public’s perception quickly opposed these attitudes, seeing that they could be potentially toxic and that they undermine the very nature of Sonic. Sonic X did little to help in the West due to the strong censorship process it received when translated from Japanese to English. By 2006 the damage was done, and subsequent attempts to modify Amy’s personality, so that she was not as effusive with Sonic, have been tried over the last decade to repair their dynamics, with a little help from Sonic Boom (where the dynamic is so well written that, in the penultimate episode of season 2, Sonic literally stops racing Tails and Knuckles at Amy’s request to go buy ingredients for the cake he was making - Modern Sonic wouldn’t do that in a thousand years) and from the direction Ian Flynn has been taking the comics he’s been involved in. SEGA’s mandates were applied in the West as well, but relatively late and as a consequence of some things that were slipping out of control, like Archie Sonic. Both Flynn and the writers of Sonic Boom had to find new ways to present the characters, adjusted to both Western cultural patterns and also to the mandates of a Japanese company. Anyway, thanks to the recent accomplishments, we can deduce that the rigid structure of the official mandates is going through some changes that could mean a new agenda from SEGA to represent the Sonamy dynamic.

All of this information leaves us with the last question, that brings us back to the topic of this article and concludes it:

Could Sonamy work today?

In the last 5 years we’ve seen a series of important transformations, both in the way Amy sees the world, her responsibilities and Sonic (ex: Sonic Lost World), and in the way Sonic himself treats Amy. Sonic Forces took some pages from Boom’s book when it came to their personalities, and it seems to be the beginning of a new era, made explicit by that description appeared in the SEGA Shop that sparked today’s discussion.

In 25 years, we’ve seen Amy chasing Sonic all over the world, living a life of adventures that contradicts her dreams of a stable life and a marriage, according to her declarations in games like Adventure. At the same time, Sonic never stopped seeking adventures all over the world, both alone and with his friends, of which he became the protector, including Amy. For the Sonamy dynamic to work today, I think the most obvious solution would be for the two of them to go on adventures together. How we see love has changed a lot in the span of 25 years, and Sonic and Amy would fit well the modern stereotype of those couples that travel all over the world to find adventures, and that we see in those posts labeled “Relationship goals”; at the end of the day, Sonic and Amy are this, stereotypes that follow a certain pattern. What’s more, such a relationship can still be kept subtle and true to official mandates if we add the rest of Team Sonic to the equation, which is basically what Sonic Boom did.

No need for kisses, no need for grandiose love declarations, weddings, or forming a family. All of this would even be extremely out of character for Sonic, and I’d hate for something like this to happen. Team Sonic is the only family he needs, and the Sonamy dynamic could benefit from the adventures, the anecdotes and the moments they spend together. A race at sunset, the view of a mountain, defeating a giant robot together… that’s how I would see a canonical relationship possible, and indeed I’m not the only one who sees it that way - remember IDW Sonic #2? And let’s not forget about this scene from IDW Sonic #2: Sonic tells Amy that she can come on an adventure with him, but Amy refuses Sonic’s offer because of her responsibilities. Small changes like these have the potential to be slowly integrated into the official canon, and we have already seen how in Forces Amy barely bothers Sonic with her feelings.

So, when the eternal question of whether or not Sonic and Amy would work as a couple comes up again, you can say, yes! Yes, it can work without Sonic having to sacrifice his freedom, or Amy her dreams! The current context is making way for this, and while I may not think this whole SEGA store thing was completely intentional to drive the fandom crazy, I do think it’s time to start accepting the validity and potential of the couple. At the end of the day, everyone will ship what they want anyway, and that’s perfect. It will sound cliché, but remember that phrase that always circulates on social networks: "There are best friends who look like a couple, and couples who look like best friends."

Sonic catches Amy reading / writing sonadow fan fiction?

LMAO YES, THANK YOU FOR REQUESTING THIS ONE, I WANTED TO DO THIS SOOOOO BAD. ALSO SORRY THIS WAS LATE.

Sonic was over at Amy’s house, enjoying some cookies and tea, because goddamnit, her double chocolate-chip cookies were to die for.

  “Thanks for inviting me over, Ames. These cookies are sooo good!” Sonic moaned in delight. Amy giggled.

   “You’re welcome, Sonic. I made some for Tails, but the poor little guy was up all night working on an invention, so I put some cookies on the counter for him, and wrote a note, so he knows I made them.” Amy said, as she put the tray down on the coffee table. “Anyways, I’m going to change, you can turn on the T.V. Okay?” Sonic nodded. She went to her room, and Sonic watched as her sway her hips. He got a little excited, but controlled it. He turned his head back and turned on the T.V. Please be Comedy Chimp, please be Comedy Chimp-

And it’s a drama. Wait no. It’s a play. It’s Hamilton. Wait, wasn’t it supposed to be on Disney Plus on July 3rd? Oh welp, might as well watch this. Sonic remembered the time he and the gang found Amy’s script, and they acted to it. He looked in the drawer that it was originally in, only to find a book labeled ‘Sonadow.’ Curious to what it was, he opened it, and skimmed to a random chapter. It said ‘Pregnancy Test.’ He started reading until he realized that Shadow and himself were the protagonists of the story. Shadow was the pregnant one. This book was in Amy’s house. In. Her. Drawer.

   “Okay I’m back-” Amy stopped in her tracks when she saw Sonic holding the book. She immediately thought of excuses and stories to why she had that book. She wrote it, but was glad that she hadn’t written her name down in the book, otherwise it would get very weird between them. “That’s n-not mine...” Sonic appeared quite flustered.

    “Then who does it belong to?” Sonic asked, his eyes twitching in what seemed to be anger.

    “...Would you believe me if I said it belonged to Lyra?” Amy replied, hoping Sonic would actually fall for that.

   “Makes sense, I guess. I mean, I thought she shipped...well...us?” Sonic blushed deeper while saying.

   “S-she has many ships, so don’t expect her to have just one...” She knew that Lyra had OCD’s when even thinking about Sonadow, but it was the only reasonable excuse she had, she didn’t want it to become awkward between them.

  “O-Oh...y-you haven’t read this, have you?” He asked her.

  “I saw the title and understood immediately...” She said cautiously. She knew Sonic very well, but at a time like this, she was very confused as to what his reaction would be.

  “That girl is going to publicly humiliate me one day.” Sonic nervously chuckled. Amy repeated his actions, not sure of what to do now.

  “I-I’ll give it back to her later, why don’t you just eat the cookies and pretend you never saw that?” Amy said in a rushed expression. Sonic noticed and decided not to think too much of it.

  “...Okay...” He hesitated before saying.

- TIME SKIP!!!! -

Amy was sitting in her room, doing something on her laptop that had her complete focus, Sonic observed. He made some sounds on purpose to see how Amy would react, but she didn’t even seem to notice.

   “What is she doing? She’s never this distracted.” Sonic thought out loud, only to hear Amy giggle while typing something in. She looked like she was about to swoon. She started cracking up, and put the laptop on the edge of the bed, which was on the other side, and she got on her back and tried to take deep breaths. Sonic snuck in through her windows, which have no glass and are covered by tapestries. He started reading whatever she was typing and saw Shadow’s name.

  “Ah~ I just love Sonadow~ It has a better chance of being canon than SonAmy will ever have.” She said, completely unaware of the second person in her room. Sonic got up and cleared his throat. Amy’s eyes immediately widened, her eyesight never leaving the ceiling. “IS SOMETHING LYRA WOULD SAY HEHEHEHEH...” Amy nervously continued saying, before taking the computer.

   “Then how come you were writing it?” Sonic asked in a disapproving tone.

    “Uh...Lyra was asking me to edit it, so I was helping?” Sonic still looked unconvinced. he yanked the laptop out of her hands.

   “Why the fuck do you think that SonAmy has a less chance of being canon compared to Sonadow?” He questioned, waving the laptop in the air.

   “Well, you would never like me, and you’re always arguing with Shadow and you just seem like you enjoy his company more than when you’re with me.” Amy replied sadly, her ears drooping.

  “Ames, I enjoy your company! I just tease him that he’s slow, that’s all. No romantic feelings for him. Just rivalry and friendship!” Sonic exclaimed. Amy giggled.

 “But wouldn’t you like to be more with him?” Amy asked, scooting closer.

  “Eww, no. He’s too emo. I prefer girls.” Sonic said, dropping the laptop on the bed, and putting his hands behind his head.

   “Yeah, I know. I see how you always flirt with them...” Amy responded with a melancholy tone. Sonic noticed this and got an idea.

   “Welp, I gotta go...run, and stuff like that.” And with that, Sonic zips off to who-knows-where. Amy quickly grabs her laptop and clicks the publish button.

- MEANWHILE WITH SONIKKU -

Sonic went to Lyra’s house to get something, and he went back to his hut in less than two seconds.

  “Okay, Sonamy. What are lemons...” Sonic zoned out, wondering what on Mobius citrus had to do with Sonic and Amy. Sonic wasn’t a huge fan of having anything with lemons in it, and he knew that Amy doesn’t really make sour or bitter foods. He clicked on what said Sonamy boom lemons, and saw that there were a lot of chapters. He went to the first one, and started reading. “Oh. OH. OHHHHH MY CHAOS, HOLY SHIT! THAT’S A LEMON?! AND WHY THE FUCK IS MY DICK ONLY FOUR INCHES IN THIS STORY?! IT’S MORE THAN THAT-” Sonic stopped himself when he realized that he was upset over his member size and not the fact that Amy was taking control of him in this story.

   “I need something...AH! Here! This is perfect.” Sonic smirked at his idea, and then ran to Amy’s house to bring his idea to action.

  “Sonic?” Amy answered the door, and her face was showing shock. Sonic walked towards her, until she was leaning against the back of her couch.

  “My beautiful Ames, my gorgeous Rose, how would you like to go on a date with me?

   “I-I-I-I...what?” Amy asked flustered at the sudden and definitely unexpected question.

   “Did I stutter? If anything, you were the one stuttering. I know, I’d be stuttering too, if I were to ask me out on a date~” Sonic repeated himself, adding a witty comment in that.

  “Are you Sonic?” Amy cautiously questioned, hoping this wasn’t another prank by Morpho.

  “I am, Amy. Sonic the Hedgehog, Fastest Thing Alive.” Sonic proudly stated. Amy giggled.

  “So you are. Why are you asking me out on a date? Is this to prove that you’re not into Shadow?”

  “No. I’m asking you out because I want to, and you better say ‘yes’ or I’m just going to nag you until you do.”

  “Okay, okay. Yes. I’ll go on a date with you, but what’s up with your sudden flirtiness? You never act like this, let alone with me.” Amy inquired. That made Sonic smirk.

   “Why not? I have to be your dream hedgehog, otherwise you’d ship Silver with Shadow.” Sonic responded. Amy shook. Sonic got worried by her weird uncharacteristic actions. “Amy! Why are you shaking? Are you okay?” He saw that her eyes were glossed with tears. “Amy! Are you crying?” He honestly didn’t know what to do, hug her? That’s what Amy does whenever someone’s crying. He wrapped his arms around her, genuine worry crawling over his features. Amy flinched as soon as his hands touched her, and she backed away after taking in everything.

-----------STOP HERE------------------- There are two endings for this story. Right under this is the humorous one, and below that is the one for hopeless romantics.

      “Okay Sonic, game’s over. What do you want?” Amy asked after attempting to ignore the weird twitch and tingles in her body.

     “Whatever do you mean, Amelia?” Sonic responded in a dreamy tone. Amy rolled her eyes and put her hands on her hips.

    “Do you even like me? You only flirt with every other girl, apparently not me...unless you’re trying to get or prove something...” Amy hesitatingly tells him, puzzled as to why he was acting charming to her. Sonic’s cheeks and ears turned a deep shade of red.

   “...Maybe, but I only flirt for a reason-”

   “Don’t give me that shitty excuse, Sonic the Hedgehog. You’re a terrible liar, and I don’t want to hear it.” Amy sassed out, which wasn’t surprising to Sonic, because ever since they all moved to Hedgehog Village, her attitude changed, as so her habits.

   “But it’s not...I actually like you! And if I have to chase you for the rest of my life to prove it, so be it! I’ll run everywhere just to look for you! I want you~!” Sonic whispered in her ear, after giving it a nip and kiss.

   “Please don’t. I don’t want our reputations tarnished because you decide to run after me like some kind of weirdo. Honestly, I should’ve written that you were the pregnant one,” (anyone noticed the fanfiction reference? :D) Amy stated bluntly. Sonic took two steps towards her. He leaned his face in her’s.

  “Say that again, Pinky.” Sonic warned as her arms went around his neck. He heard a ‘POOF,’ and sweatdropped.

   “What did you call me, Blue Boy?” She queried. Sonic started to sweat and blushed once again at the sudden closeness. His confidence then returned out of nowhere.

   “I called you, Pinky. What’s the matter? Don’t like it?”  Sonic smugly replied. Amy glared at him.

   “It’s not that, it’s just that I’m getting turned on by the second~.” Amy lustfully said, biting her bottom lip. Sonic widened her eyes.

  “W-WHAT?!” Sonic shrieked out, not knowing whether to pounce or to run away.

   “Why are you acting all jumpy? You literally just bit my ear in a seducing tone!” Amy yelled out at him, her sexy act forgotten. Sonic looked heavily disturbed at Amy’s choice of words.

   “Seducing?!” Sonic squeaked. Amy was trying her best not to swoon at how adorable she found that squeak to be.

    “Yes! Don’t you want me?!” Amy hollered, her own cheeks burning up.

    “Okay, fine! Yes! Now can we get to the part where we say how we feel and kiss?” Sonic uttered out.

     “I love you!” Amy exclaimed. You shouldn’t be shocked by her boldness, as she’s been like that all her life.

    “I-I l-lo-love you too!” He responded. There was practically steam coming out of their ears by the amount of blushing that was happening.

    “Let’s kiss!” Before Sonic could respond, Amy pounced on him and tackled his lips. They both felt fireworks soar through their body, shivering at the new sensation that they gave each other.

   “Give me a strip show, baby~” Sonic inaudibly murmured in her ear.

   “Only if you use protection.”

   “What’s the fun in that?!”

HOPELESS ROMANTIC ending----------

   “I-I’m sorry.” She breathed out in a troubled voice. She slammed the door shut, and ran to her room sobbing. Sonic was confused. What did he do wrong? He knocked on the door, before remembering that this was Amy Rose. She never opened the door when she was upset, she just wants to be alone.

  ‘Well, not today!’ Sonic thought, as he broke down Amy’s door. He was going to have hell to pay, but it would be worth it. He went to her bedroom door and heard her crying. He did the same thing that he had did with Amy’s front door, and saw her face-first on the bed. He tip-toed towards her, and crawled on top of her. She looked so fragile in this state, that he just wanted to hug her sadness away.

  “Ames, if you’re ready to talk, why are you crying?” Sonic gently raised her chin up and asked.

  “Haven’t you wondered why I even like Sonadow fanfiction?” Amy asked her love interest. Sonic thought for a moment, and realized that not even he knew why she liked it. It was probably the most random thing she’d be into, and the ship itself was very random.

  “Never really thought about it during the thirty minutes in which everything happened. It actually makes me think about it now.” Sonic told her. She wrapped her arms around his torso, which caused Sonic to stiffen. After a few moments, he began to rock her side-to-side to calm her down.

  “I thought you’d never love me, so I tried to keep my mind out of reality...” She said, sniffling in between. “At first, I started reading fanfiction. I saw SonAmy fanfiction, and it broke my heart seeing it. I read Sonadow, and it still hurt, but I just couldn’t get enough of it, next thing I know, I’m writing a popular story on Fanfiction platforms and the compliments and comments I get makes me feel happy. Even though it injures my heart too much...” Amy sobbed. Sonic lowered his eyelids.

  “Amy, if it’s giving you a heart-ache, then why do you still do any of that?” Sonic queried. Amy gave an emotionless chuckle.

  “People say that I make them happy writing the fanfiction. They smile, and I’m happy that I make them happy. Even if it pains me to do it.” Amy smiled. (Lmao don’t worry, it doesn’t happen to me) Sonic couldn’t tell whether it was because she was happy genuinely, or her clouded, closed mind was telling her that she was happy. She clearly wouldn’t be happy if it gives her pain.

  “Then stop it. It hurts you, so you should stop. You’re basically telling yourself to feel the pain.” Sonic told her while stroking her quills gently. He kissed her forehead and continued. “Start connecting with your friends and soon-to-be-boyfriend, please.” Sonic said, trying to keep a straight face as he felt her jolt up.

  “When you say soon-to-be-boyfriend, do you mean, you?” Amy asked, trying her hardest not to wag her tail in excitement.

   “Who else? Plus, don’t hide your tail, I wanna see it~.” Sonic lustfully whispers in her ear. She took her hands off her of her tail, letting it sway in happiness. Sonic, being a perverted, hormonal 19 year old, got an idea.

  “SONIC! WHAT THE FUCK-” Amy squealed as Sonic actually had the nerve to pull her tail.

   “I wanna see more~”

   “You wanna see more?” She mused. She raised up her dress a little more...

    “YOU’RE GONNA HAVE TO MARRY ME IF YOU WANT TO TOUCH ME!” Amy exclaimed, taking Sonic off guard.

   “I JUST BECAME YOUR BOYFRIEND! ONE STEP AT A TIME, AMES!” Sonic yelled back.

   “SO?! IF YOU WANT THIS BODY, THEN YOU’LL HAVE TO VOW TO IT!” Amy continued. Sonic made a face.

   “WELL I LOVE YOU, MY BEAUTIFUL ROSE!” Sonic unexpected shouted.

   “ISN’T SCREAM THERAPY WONDERFUL?! IT MAKES YOU REVEAL YOUR THOUGHTS MUCH EASIER THAN JUST SAYING THEM! ALSO, I LOVE YOU TOO, YOU LITTLE SHIT!” Amy screamed.

   “WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND?!”

   “ONLY IF YOU BE MY BOYFRIEND!”

    “GOOD!”

    “FANTASTIC!”

I would love to meet you in person! Okay…omay so can you do a prompt like… Okay…have you ever seen that movie Ant man and the wasp? Where the enemy (ghost) phases with every move she takes… Could you do it where Boom!Shadow does something to her while their fighting each other that makes her phase. That’s when Boom!Shadow has the advantage and he takes the victory and that’s when Boom!Amy calls Boom!Sonic for help… And after Boom!Sonic takes the W he checks on the gang and they all flip out when they see her phasing and Tails says he will help her out? Boom!Sonic worries for her cause he knows that she’s in pain but she hides it making Sonic do all these things to make her feel less pain but ends up making her feel bad and he just grows a little annoyed that she refuses to let out all of her emotions… But then one day Shadow returns to the village and notices Amy phasing and she breaks down in front of him and blames him and he feels a little bad and helps her out?!? Prompt:

In the thick of the battle, when Shadow grabbed the power-multiplier from up-top the town’s highest structural landmark, he blasted his chaos through it and looked at his hand.

The landmark was placed on the tip of a mountain, which--apparently--was still within town boundaries.

Eggman had invented this in hopes of multiplying the range of power one robot could yield, tempting Shadow to test his abilities as Ultimate Lifeform and not be threatened; but instead, it seemed to multiply the range of atoms in one body.

When the chaos blasted out, it was nothing more than his usual power.

“Impossible.” He remarked, “Does this mean... There is no further power I can add to my own?”

“Hey, Shadow!”

Shadow looked down below him, seeing Amy had scaled the mountain with her airgear, leaving the other’s wheeled-rides behind.

“Amy! Don’t!” Tails shouted out, but she was gripping her airgear and going for a straight, upward angle like an arrow pointed to the sky.

“Heh, since my power clearly can’t be matched, I no longer need to this.” He tossed the machine down, climbing the last bit of the mountain and tipping over the structural sign that read ‘TOWN’ with a spike at the top of it.

The spike shone as though important, but the sign looked beaten up by the winds of time anyway.

When the sign fell down, Amy tried to dodge it, but that threw her straight into the path of the falling machine.

She rolled as she gripped her airgear against her stomach tighter, almost like a surfer would when trying to remain balanced before the machine triggered and her whole body flew straight through it.

Needless to say, Tails caught the machine with a large gloved hand from his ride, but Sonic and Knuckles turned to look through the air and squint to try and see Amy through the harsh sunlight.

“Where’d she go? Do you see her?”

“Little lady who~!?” Knuckles accidentally called out an old yodel that made the ice on the second mountain begin to crack, then tumble at his loud voice.

“Amy! I can’t see her.” Sonic stuck his head out and put a hand up to try and block the sun, but when he did so, he saw the avalanche. “Gah! Knuckles! You made the mountain tumble over on itself!”

“Whoops.” Knuckles placed his hand up to his mouth, muttering, “Everyone’s a critic...”

“We have to fall back!” Tails cried out, “I’m turning us around!”

“No! Wait! I have to find Amy!” Sonic turned back his large Blue Force One towards the falling snow.

“No! Sonic! You’ll be crushed!” Tails grabbed the machine, turning its effects off as it sputtered and fried out little sparks before using the big hand to grab Sonic’s ride, forcing him into the air and pulling him down after the other two.

“Nooo..!” Sonic reached out to the mountain as they escaped...

Amy, covered in white, kicked her feet but found that nothing touched the snow. “H-huh? Where am I? What..?” She felt solid a moment and pushed through the snow pile.

She began to phase all the way down the mountainside, freaking out the whole while as she was enveloped by snow a number of time, spitting out snowflakes until finally clearing the summit and reaching the base.

When she came down, most of the town’s people cried out, “Ghost! Ghost!” and would run from her.

She just swiped an apple after her attempts at calming people down didn’t work, but she phased and the apple phased with her, meaning she took a bite out of air.

She dropped the apple and watch it clip like a game glitch through the ground, her eyes following it before she unphased and saw a small mound of dirt appear, as thought he apple was buried underneath.

“Huh.” It occured to her then that every time she unphased, she felt a tinge of pain, but nothing severe...

Until she reached Tails’s house... however.

“AHH!!” she fell through the door, gripping her stomach, “Tails... help me!” She cried out, her atoms constantly breaking wide apart and then reforming back into a solid being.

The gang just happened to be looking up radar of Amy, but she kept blinking out on the screen, until they finally realized it was because she was fading in and out of the world.

“Amy!” They cried out.

After some tests that proved only a small step for animal kind was kinda not a large step in figuring out this problem, Sonic began to pace back and forth in front of Amy, hooked up to a number of wires and electrical car jump-starters that were clipped onto different parts of her like her ear, arm, and side.

“I’m... I’m really okay, Sonic.” Amy lied, trying to disguise the pain by rubbing her arm when she felt the phasing coming back. “I’m-” she phased out, and when she did, she plugged her mouth and screamed.

Sonic turned back to her, rushing to the table, “Amy! Amy!? Dang, I hate getting ghosted like this.” he turned away and huffed, folding his arms before Amy popped back into existence and released some air from her lungs.

“Fine.” she gasped out.

He turned around, grabbing her arm, “No, you’re not! Maybe I can help!”

“H-how?” Amy flinched, his touch only made it more clear how sore she was from the phasing.

“Uhh... A pillow!” He sped off, going through the door and heading back into the room proudly showing Amy’s cushion from her home, but she was gone.

“I’ll... I’ll leave it here then.” He placed it on where he thought she would phase back, but she popped up behind him.

“Sonic!”

“AHH!” he jumped back, grabbing his chest. When he realized it was just her, he sighed and helped her up on the table, placing her on the pillow. “Tails said not to move around, it triggers the phasing. Besides, you scared me to death..!”

“But you left and I didn’t know where you were-” she phased out again.

The pillow would phase into her so he removed it.

“AHH!” She came back, worried the pillow was now stuck with her but looked to see it wasn’t. The pain was becoming unbearable, but she just kept smiling at him through it. Gritting her teeth. “MaYbE No PiLlOw.” she broke the words down through her teeth as he handed her the pillow.

“Then phase with it.”

“That hurts! It was easy with an apple, but that was before this stung like-!” she phased again.

“Ugh,” Sonic slumped his hands down his face, making his nose wiggle like a door-stopper. “It’s so hard to talk to you when you keep cutting off like that, Ames...”

“DON’T COMPLAIN!” Amy popped up straight in his face, yelling in her pain as she was getting more and more irritable.

“I’m only trying to help!” He fell back, spooked to see her again.

“Pillows are a nice thought, but no thanks!” she took the pillow from him and threw it at him. “Sonic! I’m scared!”

That last sentence stopped him and he peeked from under the pillow.

“I... I’m phasing faster. At this rate, I don’t know if I’ll ever come-” she phased again, but before she did, Sonic truly saw the fearful tears in her eyes, the moment just before the pain set in...

His eyes narrowed.

He looked to the power-multiplier machine.

“FIX THIS!” Sonic stormed into Eggman’s lab, holding up the machine as torn robots all flopped through the door, phasing.

Shadow and Eggman turned around.

Shadow’s hand was also seeming to phase.

“ACK!” he gripped his hand when it happened, falling slightly to his knees. “If he could... I would have made him do it already.” He groaned, glaring up slowly towards the Doctor.

“Hehehe...hoho... um, no recalls?” He shrugged, but Sonic whammed a speeding homing-attack into him, uncurling to have one fist held up ready to hit and the other hand gripping the yellow flap of his coat.

“You’ve got a few seconds to tell me my friend is gonna be okay, Doctor. Or else!” he gave him the best intimidation face he could, raising the fist up more to really give it to’em before Eggman’s face turned white, his mustache flopped down, and he threw his arms up over his face.

“Stop, stop! Okay! Have you tried reversing the polarity!”

“The Pol-what?” The two hedgehogs looked back at Eggman, confused.

Later that day, Shadow’s hand was placed back in the machine, and it revealed that the cure was finally created.

Sonic and Shadow raced back to Amy, who was laying on the ground, fading in and out of existence, tears streaming her eyes.

Sonic’s own eyes trembled at the sight, her lips were shaking, her body convulsing...

“...I... If I had known...” Shadow began, looking down at the pitiful sight before turning to Sonic. “My hand was in dire agony... I couldn’t possibly imagine my entire body.”

“Well, now you get to.” Sonic’s fists tightened, his eyes closing. “Put her through the machine...”

Together, the gang all helped Amy, though phasing painfully, through the machine.

She couldn’t speak anymore, the pain too constant for that.

Her voice was cut-off in spurts that created a weird array of differently beated, cut-off cries of pain.

When her full body was pushed through the machine, carefully timing it when she was phased into reality, the full Amy Rose--down to the tip of her three signature bands--was finally restored to normal.

Amy breathed exhaustedly... and all Sonic could do... was grab the pillow... and place it under her head.

Eggman was tied up with ducktape over his mouth... hanging upside down in his lab and strapped to the wall. The doors closed as he struggled, clearly, there was due punishment.

Amy slowly came too and found a flower from each one of her friends by her beside, then a note...

“Don’t fade away...”

Her eyes bent lovingly towards the message, before seeing something scribbled out with a line crossed out beside it, “It was just a phase.”

She crumpled up the paper when she read it, angled carefully to the side and clearly meant to have been discarded, but she growled at it anyway.

A/N - 

Boom!Sonamy

A secret relationship is uncovered.  

The sun shone brightly down on hedgehog village. Birds cheered merrily in the trees, and the wind blew a soft warm breeze. Everything was perfect, until Amy Rose was rudely awoken to the sound of frantic knocking on her front door. Sighing loudly she rolled over and put a pillow over her head to block out the sound.

"Ames someone's at the door." She heard Sonic say next to her. She ground in response. "Amy!" Sonic said poking her slightly. "Ughh can't you answer it!?" She muttered.

"You know I would if I could, but it would look a little compromising if I opened the door" Sonic said as he turned over pulling the covers up over his head as he did so. "Uuuugh fine, but we have to start telling people soon!" She said as she clambered out of the bed. She threw on a dressing gown and made her way to the door. She opened it slowly to be greeted by a frantic Tails. "Morning Tails, what's up?" She said yawning as she did so. "I can't find Sonic!! I've looked everywhere! He's never up this early, and he's not asleep in his usual places. I don't know where he is!!" Tails said pushing past Amy to sit on the sofa. Amy froze, he was looking for Sonic? What was she going to tell him? 'Oh sonic? He's fast alseep in my bed, we have a secret relationship that we haven't told anyone about'. Oh yeah that would go down a treat. "Oh Tails, I'm....I’m sure he's fine! Probably out for a run or something?" Amy said sitting down next to the panic stricken fox. "But this early?" Tails turned to her, his face looking desperate. It was sweet how both Tails and Sonic cared so much about each other. They'd been best friends for years, they are practically brothers. "He mentioned something about getting a routine last time I spoke to him. I really don't think you need to worry." She responded patting him gently on the shoulder. "Oh. Okay phew, I thought...I don't know what I thought." Tails said relief washed over his face. "What did you want him for anyway?" Amy said as they both walked back towards the door. "Oh I just wanted to show him a new invention." He said as we walked out the door. "Oh right, well if I see him I'll let him know you're looking for him" She reassured. Tails thanked her and waved goodbye. Amy closed the door sighing loudly. She walked into the kitchen and made two cups of coffee and brought them into her room. She placed the cups on the nightstand near her bed, and woke Sonic gently. "Who was it?" He said as he sat up. "Tails, he's looking for you." She explained as she snuggled into the bed next to him. She handed him his coffee and took her own in her hands. "What did you tell him?" Sonic asked as he took a sip of his coffee. "That you'd decided to get a routine and where out on a run." She said explaining her elaborate lie. "Oh come on Ames, couldn't you think of anything better?” Sonic teased.

“I was under pressure, what did you expect me to say, ‘Oh Hey Tails. Sonic? Oh yes he's asleep in my bed, why you ask? Oh he's my boyfriend, did we forget to mention it?’ ” She said in a high pitched tone.

“Ok, ok you’ve made your point.” Sonic rolled his eyes.

They finished their drinks and talked amongst themselves, until Amy got up to get ready for the day. After showering and dressing, she went into the kitchen and began cooking them both breakfast. Everything was going smoothly until there was another knock at the door. She stopped what she was doing and went to open the door.

“Hey Amy.” Knuckles said cheerfully.

The whole team were stood in the door, smiling at her happily she on the other hand was absolutely horrified. Why today of all days did they come for a morning visit? 

“Oh...hi guys…” She said painfully.

They bustled into the house, making themselves comfortable. They were chatting amongst themselves, when Tails turned to Amy.

“Have you heard from Sonic? I haven't seen him yet.” Tails said in passing.

“Oh Sonic? I…” But before she could finish her sentence, Sonic emerged in the room, still damp from the shower.

“Yeah Babe?” He said as he scrunched a towel over his quills to dry off.

Everyone in the room froze, Sonic removed the towel that was obscuring his line of sight, only to freeze in place, matching the rest of his team.

“Oh hey Sonic.” Knuckles said casually.

Sonic looked on in total shock, Amy's face had turned bright red, and Tails was looking back and forth between the two, Sticks was shouting about a conspiracy, and Knuckles, well Knuckles wasn't really sure about what was going on.

“Oh...Uh Sonic...so good to see you! What...what are you doing here?” Amy stuttered.

“OH...I just went for...oh for crying out loud, guys Amy and I have something to tell you.” Sonic began but gave up mid sentence realising that the jig was up.

“We do?” Amy said shocked at Sonic sudden boldness.

It was his decision to keep their relationship hidden. Sonic would never admit it but he is incredibly shy, and having people know about something so intimate frightened him a little. That and the threat that Eggman might try and use one of them against the other. There were a plethora of excuses as to why they hadn't told anyone about their love, but now it was time they knew. 

“Yes we do.” Sonic said nodding at the woman stood before him.

We walked over to her, taking her hand in his. He smiled softly at her, and turned towards the team. “Amy and I...are...um...we...are…” He stuttered, his sudden courage failing him.

“We...we are together?” Amy continued for him, questioning herself.

“Yes! Yes what she said!” Sonic sighed in relief.

“FINALLY!” Tails screamed!

First of all, I’m SO SO SORRY that I never got around to answering this sooner! Somehow I can’t search through my own tags anymore through the search bar so it’s been really hard finding the original post containing the prompts in the first place. But I haven’t forgotten your prompts! I promise! Anyway, here’s one of the first ones you requested!

(Also I’m just gonna put this under a “Read More”, btw)

“You’ll back off if you know what’s good for you.”

It was hard to think of a characteristic of Dr. Eggman that was actually somewhat positive, but persistence was often the first thing that came to Sonic’s mind. The same could be said for Amy, in some ways, as well, though at least her persistence didn’t bother the hedgehog anywhere near as much. This didn’t mean, however, that there weren’t times that he found it annoying, especially if he had to deal with them at the same time.

Such was the case today, as he was busy fighting off yet another swarm of motobugs and crabmeats that were currently attacking Green Hill. Eggman’s latest world domination plot may have faltered at the hands of the Resistance previously, but that didn’t mean his motives were completely crushed underfoot.

Seriously, when is Baldy McNosehair just gonna give this up already? he thought to himself as he sped through another hunk of scrap metal. How has he NOT gotten tired of going through the motions over and over again?!

“Sonic!”

It was Tails. Somehow he had caught up to him after getting overwhelmed with a previous wave of robots, but judging by the giant battered wrench he was holding in one hand, he seemed to look okay, save for a few bruises here and there. Sonic also noticed the Miles Electric in the other hand, still intact. “Got any more intel on this yawn-fest, buddy?”

“It looks like you’ve pushed through the last wave of robots, but there’s something on my radar up ahead. It’s readings look familiar, some other things constant, others not so much…keep on the look-out for anything unusual.”

“I’m on it!”

A roundhouse kick here, a boost there, and a hop, skip, and several homing attacks later, they found himself face-to-face with…

“The Death Egg Robot?” Sonic skidded to a stop in his tracks, Tails following suit. “I thought that hunk of junk was down for the count, last time I checked…”

“That’s where you’re wrong, you annoying blue pincushion,” Eggman’s voice boomed from his Eggmobile. “I was able to rework the outer shell into a battle mech that could function on its own.”

“How is that possible?!” Tails asked incredulously. “The outer shell was constructed specifically to keep the Phantom Ruby’s power in check. When the robot physically holding the Ruby ejected itself, the shell should have been rendered completely useless!”

“That’s only what I wanted you to think, fox boy,” Eggman sneered. “You should know by now that I never construct any of my plans with just one backup in mind. OHOHOHOHOHOHO–”

“Can it, Eggface,” Sonic retorted. “Knowing you, any and all of your half-baked ideas wouldn’t last you half an hour no matter how much work you put into them!”

“Oh, you naive little rodent, you,” Eggman bit back. “I can assure you this one won’t be as easy to push through. You see, I rewired the shell so it would run on a different energy supply.”

As if on cue, the core of the shell began to glow, pulsing almost like a beating heart. Unlike the first encounter, however, the “heart” did not glow red like the Phantom Ruby, but green…then blue…then silver…then gold…then red…then purple…then cyan…

Tails’ eyes widened in horror as he finally put two and two together. “…no…”

The mad doctor laughed again. “Oh, yes…while you were busy destroying the Phantom Ruby, I was on the hunt for something far more powerful. So naturally, the Chaos Emeralds were a fitting substitute…all seven of them.”

Sonic shook his head in disbelief as he watched the scene play out before his eyes. “I can’t believe how hard we’ve been duped…the entire Resistance just…completely forgot about the Chaos Emeralds…”

“It was a little difficult to get my hands on the last one, but no matter,” Eggman mused. “At least she’ll be here to catch a glimpse of both of you falling victim to your doom! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!”

Tails raised an eyebrow in confusion “…she?”

“Oh, yes,” Eggman said as he yanked up a bright pink hedgehog by the collar of her red dress. “SHE.”

Sonic’s eyes instantly widened as he realized who it was Eggman was holding hostage. “Amy?!”

The pink hedgehog’s ears perked up as she heard her blue hero’s voice for the first time in days. Just as she was about to shout his name at the top of her lungs, Eggman shoved a hand in her mouth, muffling her scream.

“This little nuisance has been a thorn in my side for the past few days.” Seeing the scowl on Sonic’s face grow, he added, “Perhaps when you’re done for, I’ll finish off your pretty little girlfriend, as well.”

“Finish me? You?” Sonic’s eyes narrowed as he readied a battle stance. “We’ll see about that.” With that, he sprinted in Eggman’s direction as the the Death Egg shell readied its laser cannons and machine guns.

“Sonic!” Tails exclaimed as the weapons opened fire. “Watch out!”

The fleet-footed hedgehog knew exactly how this machine worked like the back of his hand. Effortlessly, he dodged lasers and evaded bullets left and right until he found the core, the shell’s only weak spot, fall into his line of sight.

Now I’ve just gotta ram into that thing a few times and make that thing cough up those Chaos Emeralds, he thought to himself. Here goes nothing!

One.

He felt the shell push back on contact. So far, so good.

Two.

He reached farther, pushing harder. Once again, the shell skidded backward, further back this time.

Three.

As he rammed into the core, the Chaos Emeralds released a shockwave, stunning Sonic and warping him back to Tail, his quills in disarray from the electricity emitted by the gems in the shell’s core. “I can’t stop it fast enough,” he groaned.

“Did you try taking out all the guns?” Tails inquired. “Maybe the Chaos Emeralds took some time to charge up before you damaged the shell enough, so maybe if you don’t get sidetracked by enemy fire, you’ll get to the core faster and deal more damage!”

“Great idea!” He was on his feet again in no time. “Thanks, buddy! And while you’re here, try to get Amy out of that Eggmobile! I’ll take out whatever’s trying to lock on you!”

Tails gave his best friend a thumbs-up as he took flight, beelining straight for the Eggmobile with his big wrench in tow. After narrowly escaping various lasers and deflecting numerous showers of bullets, he was able to sneak up on Eggman from behind. While the doctor wasn’t looking, Tails pointed his wrench at his head. “Where’s Amy?” he asked, trying not to shake in his little shoes.

Underneath his glasses, Eggman’s eyes widened. In the excitement of finally taking down Sonic in his new weapon, he had completely forgotten to keep track of the other annoying rodent in his possession! He slowly turned to his right. No sign of bright pink anywhere. He snapped his head to the left. Still no Amy to be seen. Come to think of it, she hadn’t made so much as a peep in a while…

“The little brat must have left when I wasn’t looking!” He slammed his fist against the dashboard of the Eggmobile. “Blasted hedgehogs. ALL OF THEM!”

In the meantime, Sonic was slashing through every weapon in sight, and was just about to tear through the last laser cannon when he saw the Chaos Emeralds about to form another shockwave. Right as it was about to release, however, there was a huge explosion from within the core, and the shockwave fizzled out. Within less than a second, he sprinted over to investigate. By the time he reached the core, he noticed that the glow of the Chaos Emeralds was absent. In fact…

“The Chaos Emeralds…they’re gone? Where did they go?”

Sonic looked closer at the core. It was completely destroyed, so clearly something must have gotten inside and damaged it enough so the Emeralds could be freed. He looked at the damage around where the core was housed. Were those…hammer marks?

“SONIC! LOOK OUT!”

He whipped his head around to find who screamed his name, but right as he saw who it was, the laser had already found its target. It stunned him, and pain shot throughout his shoulder and into the rest of his body. With no sense of coordination at this point, he toppled out of the core and back onto the ground. Although his vision was blurry at this point, he could make out the faint image of a pink hedgehog surrounded by seven other glowing hues.

“Amy…” he murmured as he fell. “What are you doing…”

“OHOHOHOHOHOHOHO!” Eggman cackled. “At last, Sonic the Hedgehog is finally out of commission! Now, with the power of the Chaos Emeralds, I can restart my efforts to bring the world under my control ONCE AND FOR ALL!”

“OH, REALLY?!”

Sonic’s vision was starting to clear, and he was just about to get back on his feet, when pain starting shooting through his body again. All he could do was lift his head up. What greeted him was none other than Amy Rose standing in front of him, with all of the Chaos Emeralds surrounding her. “Leave him alone, you jerk,” she hollered.

“And what should I do about it, little girl?” Eggman taunted.

“You’d back off if you know what’s good for you!” Amy shouted.

Sonic was able to push himself up off the ground slightly. Amy looked really angry. The Chaos Emeralds were revolving around Amy at an even faster pace now. Suddenly, in a fantastic flash of light, Amy was floating gently in the air, her quills glowing a radiant gold, her red eyes flashing.

The blue hedgehog on the ground gaped. She…she can use the Chaos Emeralds? She has a super form?!

She flew off, zooming towards Eggman, with her giant, walloping hammer in hand, and with one fell swoop, she swung at the Eggmobile, denting it severely as the head made contact. Instantly, the Eggmobile flew into the sky at an alarming speed.

And she didn’t stop there. Right as Sonic finally got back on his feet, she sped past him, readying her hammer to strike the Death Egg Shell, knocking him back to the ground.

Her hammer struck the core with a force so hard, it exploded, taking the rest of the shell down with it. Eventually, it toppled onto itself, clouds of dust emerging with every hunk of scrap metal that hit the dirt.

Sonic was back on his feet again when the smoke cleared. What he saw in front of him was Amy, smiling sweetly at him, as if nothing at all happened. He felt himself reaching out to her, almost reflexively, in an almost protective instinct, even though the roles were so obviously reversed. “Amy…”

His hand was shaking like the rest of his body. She took it in her own and walked closer to him, letting her own free hand rest on his bruised shoulder. Her hand was so warm, so gentle…under the soft little brushes of her fingers, Sonic could feel the pain melt away almost instantly, but he was still as weary as could be. Knowing Amy would want him to rest, he collapsed into her, letting her carry him as she flew back into the air to greet Tails. “Let’s go home”, she said.

And she flew away toward Green Hill, Tails following suit.

RANT

I NEED TO RANT ABOUT THIS, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT.

I AM SO FRUSTRATED.

Thing is, I ship both SonAmy and ShadAmy. And I can’t like one more than the other.

SonAmy: Sonic and Amy’s relationship is cute and innocent, while in Boom, that’s next level shit. I love Boom!SonAmy, it’s so well complemented and they both actually appreciate each other, it wouldn’t just be a one-way love like in the comics or Sonic X. Boom!SonAmy is the best pair I’ve seen in a really long time, Sonic is less laid-back about Amy and actually cares for her (not saying that he doesn’t in the other shows/comics, it’s just the he actually shows it). While Amy’s maturity is higher, and that makes her a really strong character. She isn’t helpless or the “damsel in distress” like in the other shows, she actually stands up for herself, and that makes her a very admirable character. And I’m not wrong when I could call their relationship a skinny love (when they both love each other but are too shy to admit it). They are so well balanced and I can see them having a really good time with each other. And I could somehow see that Sonic could be soft one while Amy would be the tough cookie in the relationship. It’s so FUCKING SWEET I CANT. I think you guys can agree when I say Boom!SonAmy is the best SonAmy example there had ever been. But I don’t get why in the fanfictions most people make Amy be helpless, I mean that’s an exact replica of Sonic X. I’m not saying she’s helpless, but she does rely a lot on Sonic. And I love it because they’re willing to risk their lives for each other. And people also tend to make Sonic a huge jerk, being extremely rude to Amy saying things like “I wish I had never saved you from Metal Sonic.” (this happens mostly on ShadAmy fanfictions. I mean, Sonic can be a jerk at times but he does care about Amy, he would never wish such bad things on her, and neither would she.

ShadAmy: HOLY FUCK. Most people ship Shadow with Maria, but let’s face the fact. It’s horrible that she passed away, but there’s nothing they could do about it. She was bound to pass away anyways. I feel that this couple is really cute, because Shadow being his edgy fucking self, and Amy being her cheery and bubbly self would really help Shadow. Maybe Shadow would be all tsundere at first, and Amy wouldn’t understand what he’s going through, but then she would slowly understand what he IS going through. She would always be there for him, and try to cheer him up or at least make him smile. Now for Rouge, she’s taken bitches. Rouge is with Knuckles, kk? Again, Shadow would be more like the soft one on the relationship when no one’s around, but when people are there he would be his edgy self and be more aggressive towards the others. Shadow would maybe have a sort of jealousy towards Sonic, for being Amy’s first love, but would learn to cope up with it and love Amy nonetheless. Now, people would normally think opposites attract, but both of them are more similar than you think. First, they both had a traumatic event, that still haunts them to that day. Second, they both lost people they loved. And that’s all I can think of. Shadow and Amy would be really cute, but I doubt it would happen unless Sonic and Amy don’t get together.

That concludes my little (cough cough LONG cough) rant.

Happy Shameless Romance Day, everybody!

And to celebrate, I’ll be listing off my top ten favorite Sonic ships!

NOTE: This will not really be in any particular order, because I’m lazy like that. Most of these ships are relevant only in the Archie Comics universe. And if you don’t like these ships, then that’s fine! Just my opinion here.  

Sonally (Sonic x Sally)

Yeah, I’m probably gonna get some hate for preferring this over Sonamy. And (speaking from the perspective of the Archie Comics/ Satam), this ship just... works. Sally is the one who keeps Sonic grounded (and her strategies are most likely a main reason why he didn’t kill himself while fighting Robotnik). And in return, Sonic helps her to lighten up and see that life isn’t all about the war. 

Sure, they’ve had their moments (”The Slap”, anyone?). But the reason that happened is explained in two words: Bad Communication. Sally wanted commitment and security. Sonic was a free spirit and didn’t want to be tied down. Neither of them were mature enough to handle a full-time relationship at the moment, and that’s okay. 

But that doesn’t change the fact that they genuinely like each other. They’re each other’s other half, and when they’re together, they make each other happy. And that’s what really solidifies their relationship: they need each other.

Scourgiona (Scourge x Fiona) 

Oh, where to begin with how much I adore this ship...

Say what you want, but I think Scourge actually loves Fiona. Just because he’s a jerk, it doesn’t mean he can’t be sincere about something. Yeah, he’s a prick. And yeah, he might have started going out with Fiona just to piss of Sonic. But there’s no denying that these two have a spark. 

And as for Fiona, she’d do anything for him, even get herself arrested just to help break him out of Zone Prison. Even after he snaps at her, she understands that he’d under a lot of stress. Besides, she knows how to tolerate/ handle his anger management issues. She helps him be better- if only a better criminal.

They may not be the lovey-dovey, hand-holding couple, but there’s no doubt that they love each other.

Khanally (Monkey Khan x Sally)

That awkward moment when you really don’t want to like a ship, but at the same time, you do...

Yeah, I’ve got mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, I want to ship Sally with Sonic and no one else. But on the other... DANG IT, WHY ARE THEY SO SWEET?

ERRGG... KILL MY HEART BEFORE IT FEELS TOO MUCH

But seriously, I think that, while not my favorite Sally pairing, this is a pretty good ship. Similar to Sonally, these two complete each other. They help each other to be better people and to overcome their individual weaknesses. Both understand the stress that comes with being royalty, which would be extremely helpful if they ever got together in the future.

Knuxamy (Knuckles x Amy)

This is something I really only ship in the post-SGW universe.\

AND MAN DO I SHIP IT

The writers probably didn’t mean for this to be shipped, BUT I DON’T CARE IT’S ADORABLE

Rotorcole (Rotor x Nicole)

I dunno, this ship’s just always appealed to me. 

I know full well that Rotor’s supposedly gay (according to Penders), but I just don’t buy it. And I also am aware that the most popular person to ship Nicole with is Sally, but I honestly see them remaining as best friends and nothing more.

And this just makes sense to me- the guy who lives and breathes technology, paired up with the girl who is literally technology. Both are sweet and kind, and loyal to the Freedom Fighting cause. 

I don’t know how else to describe it, but these two just seem to be right for each other.

Manouge (Manic x Rouge)

Yes, I am aware that these two have never met canonically BUT I DON’T CARE

Similar to Rotor and Nicole, this is one of those ships that just feels right. And to prove it, I will dazzle you with my incredible math skills.

1 sneak thief + 1 sneak thief ÷ They’ve never met x BUT THAT DOESN’T MATTER + They would totally go out stealing stuff together which is sweet and super romantic = THIS SHIP

And as you’ve probably figured out by now, I have a D in Math. Doesn't change that I love this ship.

Tailmy (Tails x Amy)

Okay, so the only place I really ship this is in the pre-SGW universe (and kind of in Sonic X...? But not really...?). Here’s my reasoning/ headcanon: Amy’s smart. She knows deep down that, no matter how hard she tries to make him like her, Sonic just isn’t interested. And that hurts. 

But here’s the thing!: Tails knows exactly how that feels, due to his experience with Fiona. They bond over this, becoming closer as friends. Soon that friendship blossoms into romance.

And that, my friends, is how M:25YL should’ve been. Not Mina x Tails. Amy x Tails. No one cares if Mina disappears forever, but Amy should’ve been there and-

I’m getting off track here. 

The point is, I think these two would be happy together. And that’s what matters~

Tailsream (Tails x Cream)

Another Tails ship!

Ooooh, this one’s so sweet it’s giving me cavities...

I love this ship so very much. It’s like one of those things where at first, you don’t know why you like it so much, but then it dawns on you...

THEY’RE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER

At least in my headcanon, anyway. I kind of think about them in terms of how Kristoff and Anna worked in Frozen (forgive me for saying speaking of the F word). Not really romantic at first glance, but when you look at it harder, it can’t be avoided. Their personalites mix beautifully, and... I don’t know. It’s hard to explain. I love this ship.

Snivina (Snively x Regina)

I have kind of a soft spot for villains who are head over heels for one another and are genuinely loving to their partner (hence why I enjoy Scourgiona so much). These two fall right into that category.

It’s just so... satisfying to watch their love. Regina puts aside that Snively’s an unattractive little squirt and sees him for who he really is: A criminal and scientific mastermind. Through each other, they’ve found love, which is only strengthened as they partner up to conquer Mobius.

Buntoine (Bunnie x Antoine)

Probably the best ship to come out of the entire Sonic franchise. No joke.

Seriously, these two are the poster children for well done canonic pairings. Not only do they depend upon one another and are given equal value to the story, but they help each other grow as characters. They live for the other and would die for them too. 

This, dear readers, is what true love looks like.
